do you ever think about how mabel wanted to stay in an eternal summer with dipper not only because she didn’t want him to leave her behind but also because she didn’t want to go back home to a place where her parents got into daily screaming matches and the very foundation of her immediate family was constantly shaking under her very feet and how she wanted to stay in a place where her relationships were secure and how everyday was a new adventure and yet a constant she could rely on in a way she never could at home or are you normal

Do you know this (noncanon) ADHD character?
Evidence below the cut!
Submitter provides as evidence: The man is extremely hyper focused on exercise and fighting and getting stronger and is caring and loving but clearly struggles with being idle for long periods of time or doing any sort of task that requires any kind of monotony. He struggles with social norms and has is very clearly not someone who can go without stimulation. He even hired an intergalactic hitman on himself once because his life was too quiet and he needed the simulation and thought it would be fun.
They also add: I think it's cool that more people are understanding that ADHD isn't just being scatterbrained, that it's largely related to stimulation, and I think Goku's emphasis on physicality is a good example of how physical stims can help people focus.

reading the new Tana French novel via audiobook and just sort of like :/ :/ thinking about the tight, propulsive plotting of her earlier novels…I’m 20% in and while the plot did land quite early compared to like, the witch elm, I’m not getting that gorgeous eerie feeling I got from In the Woods or The Likeness. Ugh! I’m in such a reading slump for books rn and I can’t decide if it’s because I’m not vibing with anything I’m reading or if it’s because my brain has suddenly developed a preference for a physical book as obsessed to an ebook or audiobook. I did recently read A Country of Ghosts via my tried and true method of ‘multiple hours of uninterrupted reading time in the bath without my phone and with a print book’ so clearly it is possible but, to give you an example of how powerful my book slump has been, I got to like 85%-90% of The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo and was basically like “well. whatever.” and never finished it. That was fully a month ago :(
has anyone recently read anything that rocked their world? please advise.

Familiar Wife is such a trip because episode 1 is like "look at this poor man. look at how he suffers with this crazy, awful wife of his. pity him." and then episode 2 flips that on its head and it's like "look at this irresponsible man. look how he's driven his wife to the brink of madness with his childishness and emotional immaturity. yes his wife does some crazy things but the truth is he's just as bad as she is (just in a different way), and she's suffering just as much as he is."

mylene is so interesting to me bc like. she just chucks elico out as soon as she gets a mechanical replacement with macubass. and i think she's the only villain so callous about their guardian bakugan???
most villains still care about their bakugan and usually actually share the same goals and are on the same wavelength, birds of a feather and all that. like even characters like kazarina, cruel as she is, still are fond of their guardian bakugan. and theres characters like spectra and barodius who's plans center around their guardian bakugan, and are actively encouraged by those bakugan.
even characters who's guardian bakugan dont necessarily get along with them all the time, like avior and mason's constant bickering, are still friends. meanwhile mylene just. throws elico out. and also takes brontes from volt and throws him out as well. i think whats also interesting, since the show likes to bring up spectra and mylene parallels, is how spectra uses machines to upgrade and evolve helios, while mylene outright replaces elico with a machine.
but it's not like she's shown to be like. completely heartless either. she calls volt her friend even though she threw out brontes beforehand. she stands up for hydron when zenoheld takes his anger out on him. she has some weird friendship with shadow prove.
i think she was the vehicle to show the general vestal opinion on bakugan, since mylene only sees her bakugan as weapons and when she loses she blames the loss on them. (meanwhile i think volt is supposed to show that not all vestals are THAT bad, even if they are part of the king's entourage of fucked up teenage celebrity theatre kids). and i think she's very interesting bc of that. anyways i love mylene.
