#found myself in Ironbridge this weekend for completely non-bridge and pork pie related reasons#but there was no way I was going to miss striding across the bridge and straight into the pork pie shop like Tim maybe did that one time#💚💚💚#the whole place was beautiful#staying tucked down in the gorge felt slightly otherworldly as there was perfectly still with no breath of a breeze the whole weekend#which is something we're definitely not used to 🤭#Ironbridge#river severn

Ironbridge
Included as one of the first UK World Heritage Sites in 1986, the clue is in the name when it comes to Ironbridge Gorge. This was the place – a dramatic wooded ravine created by the River Severn – where the first cast-iron bridge was built in 1779.
Ironbridge, the town that sprang up beside the elegant River Severn crossing, became the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution.
This area, overflowing with natural resources such as coal, iron ore and limestone were all useful to the fledgling industries of the time.
Throughout the 18th century the gorge was a hotbed of production and manufacture, from smelting lead and blowing glass to making parts for steam engines and railway wagons.
However, the lack of a bridge over the Severn was a continual problem. The ferries that carried raw materials across the river were unable to operate whenever it was in spate or too low.
Ironworks owner Abraham Darby III was duly commissioned to build a bridge. The result was an immediate success. And when the structure remained solidly in place during the terrible Severn floods of 1795, it served as Darby’s cast-iron guarantee to customers as to the efficacy of his product.

After the recent header change I couldn't let a chance go begging today. It's about ten minutes out of my way about once per fortnight. I foresee a lot of visits between now and publication. 😂

Ironbridge gorge, from the Bridge, wintertime in England can be really beautiful, however grim it feels, cold, damp, then dry and icy, but beautiful. The coricle iron statue shows how the river was navigated and crossed. They still build these now here and have loads of info in the museum. Various museums about local life the bridge, the iron works, tiles, coricle and history all around the local area. Even glimpsed some blue sky! #staycation #uk #ironbridge #England #OutdoorAdventures #BestOfBritish (at Ironbridge River Severn) https://www.instagram.com/p/CoSyvbkMtl5/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Ironbridge sketch | Limited edition fine art print from an original drawing. My sketches start life as hand-drawn graphite images made on cartridge paper. I often work on these with charcoal, oil pastel or Caran d'Ache to create the look I'm after. The artwork is then scanned and finessed digitally ready for fine art printing. This process often referred to as Giclée printing uses the highest standard of printing methods to give gallery quality results that maintain all the details of the original sketch. The graphite pencils I use are Faber-Castel, the oil pastels are Sennelier and the china-graph is Caran d’Ache. The inks are pigment based archive quality (100years+). The heavyweight specialist papers I use are of the best professional quality having a wonderful surface designed specifically for fine art drawings and illustrations. Very limited editions with only ten per size printed. All artwork is signed and includes a certificate of authenticity. The A5 are 5.8" x 8.25" (14.8cm x 21cm) The A4 are 8.25" x 11.7" (21cm x 29.8cm) The A3 are 11.7" x 16.5" (29.8 cm x 42cm) The A2 are 16.5" x 23.4" (42 cm x 59.4cm) Frames not included in price. Free shipping on artwork to UK destinations.

labour party issues a rehousing directive. you have to move to either telford or scunthorpe. you cannot kill yourself.
fucking hell. I'll hope that I can be rehoused in a nicely refurbished freehold '30s build in a nicer part of Telford then...
#i joke about telford but it's not *the* worst place in England#it's just. A Place. a 50s attempt at urban planning without a proper plan that mushed together a bunch of pre-existing towns and villages#they went ahead with development without even agreeing on how the town centre would look or even be!#that's why the whole place feels so disjointed!#that being said Ironbridge was in dire need of redevelopment beforehand apparently and people did get post-war rehousing#so there was an upside#rainydayscore

A selection of photos and video clips from my recent visit to Blists Hill Victorian Town for their Heavy Horse Weekend, which saw a selection of wagons pulled by magnificent shire horses traversing the site, in addition to a horse bus giving rides to visitors, a wagon tyring demonstration, and opportunities to pet and guid the shire horses.
See the full footage compilation on YouTube.

Day-to-night: Ironbridge Night Lights
Ironbridge Night Lights This is my largest day-to-night conversion to-date and took a fair amount of time and many, many masks to create. It was all great fun though and I’m quite pleased with the result. Click on the image to discover the options to purchase it as ready-to-hang wall art.
