took another shot at the Cahalith design. pulled up a lot of Afropunk pictures in particular. one of the best sketches i've ever done good lord. i'm kind of like... god, look at her. I love her hglkfhgl main singer of a punk band. all of the other members but one (a Rahu Storm Lord) were high school friends with her. she's got 2-Glory Moon Gifts. she's got a scratchy rough vocal style, and sings pleasantly off-key. it was actually her who gave Lunacy to the girl who would become the Rahu of the group -- and it was her who got her guts ripped out when the Rahu hit her first change months later.

she's expressive, emotive, and very open + friendly. takes her band very seriously. her Kuruth trigger is The Pack. She's got a jolly relationship with the Pack's Rahu, who is actually the 'omega' of the pack, so to speak. Due to this, the two of them lack the usual Rahu-Cahalith tensions. instead, she has her visions and does her war-singing and tactical direction, and the Rahu follows eagerly, ready to take her place as the killing tool, as is her right. It suits the two of them well, and provides a solid core for the rest of the pack, as without the usual Cahalith-Rahu tension, the pack has no reason to worry about infighting in that regard. Hunting Style Merit: Iron Masters

And the Iron Masters won the vote! Let's have a look at what we've got going for them. Disclaimer that this is very rough and I've only been able to do whiteroom playtesting with it, the last time I had someone play an Iron Master in a game was three years ago so it's been a while. Without further ado...

The Modern Hunt (Hunting Style Merit)

Prerequisite: Iron Master

This Merit is only active during the Sacred Hunt.

o: Dealing with humanity frequently means that Lunacy becomes inevitable. However, it isn’t always convenient for the Herd to be inflicted with such madness. The last thing you want is dealing with an unwanted spirit possession, or a human screaming their head off and charging at you when you're trying to make a clean getaway. Once per session, if the Uratha succeeds in inflicting the Lunacy Condition on a human, they may instead obviate it in favor of Shaken, Spooked, or Stunned. Their target still suffers the typical aftermath of Lunacy and is unable to remember details about their encounter. 

oo: In addition to the usual benefits from gaining the Cunning Condition, the Farsil Luhal may resolve it instead to gain automatic successes on a Science, Subterfuge, or Technology action that will inconvenience or hurt their prey.

ooo: To hunt with a human mind means being flexible. When imposing his Hunter’s Aspect, the Iron Master gains the Innovative Condition.

Red Wolf knows that, more than strength, what matters on the hunt is being able to turn on a dime when things start going south. If the Iron Master fails a roll, they may try again the next turn using a different approach to solve the same problem. They may add their Cunning Renown to that roll, and will achieve an exceptional success on it on three rather than five successes.

Example: Ivy Bloodstains-on-the-Glass and their pack need to steal back a valuable Fetish containing a member of Red Wolf’s spirit choir from a Thihoshlu. Their Cahalith packmate has managed to draw the attention of the Toad Host’s lackeys but it won’t be long before they realize they’re not dealing with a lone wolf. Ivy attempts to pick the lock as an extended action, but fails on their second interval.

After some consideration and a realization of just how close they're cutting it, they tell themself ‘fuck it,’ decide the time for subtlety is gone, shift up to Dalu, and kick the door in with Strength+Brawl+Cunning. An exceptional success on three dice sends it right off its hinges and gives the pack’s Irraka a clear shot inside, though the Hunter in Darkness isn’t likely to be pleased with such an incautious method.

oooo: The modern hunt means that it isn’t always wise to use claw and fang alone to kill prey. The tools of man have great use, and the clever Uratha can still squeeze greater power out of them. The Iron Master may channel a Gift that would ordinarily require touching or striking a foe through a weapon, including improvised and ranged weapons, a number of times in a scene equal to their Cunning Renown.

ooooo: Everything is connected. You just have to know where to pull the strings and wires of the system to get what you want out of it. Once per Sacred Hunt, they may shuffle a number of dots equal to their Cunning Renown in their Social Merits or location-based Merits like Safe Place. This can move dots into Merits they don’t currently possess or have the requirements for. These last until the end of the chapter, at which point in time they revert back to their original configuration.

So I've been working on some rough lodge concepts. My ultimate goal is to publish them on the storytellers vault, because honestly I dont know how long it will be until we get more Forsaken 2e lodge content lol.

Here are the lodge concepts -- I also have rough drafts for the Lodge of Doors and Lodge of the Hook Hand, but I'm less certain about getting into those as those are like "official" named in book Lodges.

The City is Cain: Iron Masters

This is another thing I posted on Twitter a good bit ago. I'm going to try and get back to working through all the Tribes! Bone Shadows are currently up next and their writeup is partially done. :> As before, it's a little long so I'll post a preview, and if it piques your interest here's the full one.

I’ll make a bold statement and say I think the Iron Masters are probably the most popular Tribe. It’s for a good reason too. The concept of werewolves who have adjusted to the rapid technological advancements of humanity to become urban predators is immediately grabbing. We’re accustomed to seeing werewolves as ravening monsters incapable of rational thought.

You don’t expect to have a wolf creep up on you, abruptly shift into a form with opposable thumbs, and shoot you in the back. That fancy silver knife won’t help you in that situation. And you really wouldn’t expect the city itself to turn against you as all the technological comforts you’re accustomed to suddenly stop working, all of your social connections collapse, and generally have your life fall to shambles over the course of a month. You might not even get to die at the end of it. That’s what makes the Iron Masters compelling.

You want to be an Iron Master because��

You think that hunting should be brought into the modern era...guns and computers and surveillance, oh my!

You really like politicking and don’t have a problem with lying.

You think that constantly killing everything you hunt is a waste of effort and time, and you’d rather see the problem cut off before it can happen.
