𝐀 𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐓𝐋𝐄 𝐌𝐀𝐘𝐇𝐄𝐌 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐀 𝐖𝐇𝐎𝐋𝐄 𝐋𝐎𝐓 𝐎𝐅 𝐅𝐔𝐍 ⎨qetsiyah ⎬
She stood draped in clothes of a time long passed. For too long she’d been an observer, time crept by slowly when you were dead . Her fingers would tingle with power— phantom rememberings of a might she wielded now bestowed  to her again and more. Electric as she tested her powers old and new.
Muscles and sinew stretched and pulled as she extended her arms gracefully over head . Joint popped and set in such a delicious reminder of what she was … who she was . It felt good to be in the land of the living , would feel even better once she finally went after what she coveted.
All the players were here, ripe for the devouring . Her blood and magic sang in exquisite delight of the prospect to turn their world upside down. Dancing  lithesome  for the moment she could squash them all beneath her foot.
Heavy strides sounded from behind but there was no need to see whom it was. There was no coming back without a faithful servant to help facilitate her return.
“Mistress.”
Her eyes closed  taking in the sweet sound of her dutiful guard. Wordless she turned to face him . Markos, so strong ever the vigilant follower on her journey of blood and vindication. Her loyal watch dog. He’d live a long life and for his loyalty she bargained for him to have another. Long legs moved towards him, unwavering as she took the clothes held out to her . A brow quirked up in question at the garb.  Still she took it , slender finger tracing the stubble cheek of her champion in thanks.
“ How many?”
“ At last count their are four. Two of both lines.”
Red lips split revealing the whites of her teeth, snickering at the thought . Two each what a wonder.
“ And my followers?”
Markos bowed lowly , “ I have sent word through our channels. If there are any others they will come. And will witness you and your glory, mistress.”
She turned from him, eyes on the blaze raging in her hearth as the fire grew from the force she expelled. Oh how she missed her magic.  “ Then I will leave you to get our plans underway. And I,  will enjoy my bath”   She floated past him a hand grazing his arm in thanks . She didn’t say such things aloud there was no need. Not with him.  Soon enough she would have her fun and rain down chaos on all who might stand in her way. “Markos,”  she called once more, her eyes  turn to stone, regarding him with a calculated and menacing expression.
 “ Don’t disappoint me.”

I read your metas and loved them! What is your opinion about the Traveller's storyline? I really thought that we would get more Bennett history since it was revealed that Qetsiyah is one, but it was mostly focused on the Parker family, really.
First off, thank you for your kind words and taking the time to read my thoughts! The Traveler storyline certainly had a lot of potential, especially in relation to Bonnie’s rich family history. It was a shame how they wrapped it up so quick and just made a mess out of it. It didn’t help that we got the love triangle being dragged and forced once more to come to the conclusion that true love doesn’t exist; it was just a spell to break a 1500+ year old curse. I know TVD is a romance show, but come on…. It was corny to me.
While the show introduced significant lore surrounding the Travelers and the witch community, through Qetsiyah and Silas, it did more to explore the Parkers than the already established Bennetts. No surprise it was around the same time JP had plans to kill of Bonnie for good but Kat convinced her that there was more to tell, we would have gotten Liv as the go to witch for the MFG. Considering that the Bennetts are a prominent witch family with a deep-rooted history in magic and set the TVD lore of the universe for us, it was a missed opportunity not to delve into their family's connections with the Travelers.
Qetsiyah and her descendants: Qetsiyah stands out as one of the most powerful witches in the universe. If her storyline had been more entwined with her descendants, too, we could have expanded on how her actions created ripples throughout supernatural history. Her creation of the Immortality Spell led to significant schisms for magic, the impact of which could have been explored through Bonnie’s bloodline. This could have included infighting among offshoots of her bloodline or even other Traveler branch clans (like the Parkers or Silas’s family, for example) who either supported or rejected Qetsiyah’s actions. It’s what we the show so often popularized as the Balance of Nature aka the Spirits. I believe this relationship dynamic could have been enriched by introducing Bonnie to (distant) family members who did adhere to the strict ideals to not use magic without rules (the Spirits / Spirit Magic) or those betrayed by their forebears for cursing them. Also, her having zero interactions with Bonnie?? Nah that’s some bs.
Potential for Infighting: I also think this would introduce a narrative where the Bennetts’ bloodline suffers from centuries infighting due to differing ideologies about magic and the use of their powers. The show could have introduced family members who either aligned in favor of Qetsiyah’s actions (replacing Markos and his group) or fiercely opposed them (we already had the Spirits and we only saw the Bennetts at the forefront of it), providing more depth to Bonnie’s character development and the complexity of magic and it’s lore.
The Travelers Curse
The origin and implications of the Travelers’ curse were also somewhat convoluted to me when it was revealed tied to Stelena and true love not actually being true love or destiny. As I said, we also got a whole new witch family introduced when the Bennetts were right there. Onto my thoughts about how the plot could've gone.
Historical Context: When Qetsiyah created the immortality spell, it caused a schism within the Traveler community. Many of the branch family’s (Parkers and Silas’s) already feared the power of Qetsiyah and her family. They knew they were powerful, and Qetsiyah was a step above that too. But with her true immortality spell and defying Nature itself for love, they believed that this family's seemingly unlimited power was a threat to them. Keeping the Balance was just an excuse they could use to strengthen those fears and cripple her and her family. So even after Qetsiyah’s brother killed her to redeem his family, the other Traveller covend insisted on further measures—leading to what is known as the Traveller’s Curse placed upon Qetsiyah’s descendants. Again, this introduces some intrigue and infighting in one of the earliest witch covens.
The Curse’s Mechanism: To prevent future disruptions by his family, Qetsiyah’s brother promised the other Traveler families to limit the power his bloodline, forcing it to scatter whenever they attempted to congregate as large coven. If they did, this resulted in disasters and plagues or their death, effectively suppressing the extraordinary abilities and potential of Qetsiyah's descendants. The Bennett witches today may be known but remain unaware of their full history—their curse hidden and forgotten even from them.
Living Bennett Witches: Contrary to the show’s narrative, which suggests very few Bennetts are left, I feel it’s important for the story to recognize that their bloodline is significant and widespread. Even on an individual level we get so much of their feats, inventions and spells. This concept would open the door for multiple lines of the Bennett family, allowing Bonnie to discover relatives with diverse views on magic, some aligned with tradition and others breaking away from it.
Thematic Depth and Character Development
The motivations behind magic use in TVD could have been explored more deeply. The recurring theme in the TVD universe was witches maintaining the balance of Nature often felt hypocritical and biased and even bitter. Yet the Bennetts frequently disrupted it with their feats.
Nature’s Perspective: The concept around Nature as an entity that puts things back into balance is intriguing. Rather than being strict overseers, the witches could have been portrayed as part of a wider supernatural ecosystem, where even supernatural beings like vampires, hybrids, and werewolves might eventually be normalized instead of abominations and whatnot.
Potential for Conflict: By aligning the story with Bonnie's journey, we could have seen infighting not just among the Travelers, but also among witch factions within the Bennett line—those adhering to Nature's rules versus those who pursue Qetsiyah's radical legacy, even if that wasn't her intention at all. Such tensions could have elevated Bonnie’s journey as she navigates her identity, her ancestry and power.
I know you said you’ve read my metas but below some links on my theories and the travelers / Qetsiyah and the Bennetts specifically.

Bonnie and Qetsiyah are the only two women among all of tvdu to get cheated on and are constantly villainized for reacting to what happened to them. Now, my only issue with Qet is how they reduced this powerful and prominent women to only caring about Silas. As for her reaction she got both Amara and Silas together. Nobody was missed from that period. A nice case of fuck around and find out. The Bennett witches never got to have emotions outside of serving everyone else or being these grand creators of something so I loved how they introduced Qet. Amara and Silas both got what was coming. What made Qetsiyah any different from Klaus or Silas? She’s just a woman lol. Bonnie got cheated on and no one wanted to tell her and IF she didn’t overhear the discussion she wouldn’t even have been told in the first place, yet plenty of fans have this argument that Bonnie should’ve been more understanding to Jeremy’s feelings or that because of the Gilbert device(another thing created by a Bennett witch mind you lol..) she deserved to be cheated on in the first place.
These discussions about cheating and what should’ve been done would be so different if it was Elena or Caroline, Katherine blah blah blah :P
Edit: i lied lol, i do have something else im mad about. The lack thereof with Bonnie and Qetsiyah but Bonnie aint allowed family.
in the end all this Silas-Amara and Qetsiyah triangle did was center another Bennett witch in this never ending petrova mess.

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve watched anything TVDU related, so I’ve probably forgotten all the lore, but if resurrection is so freaking easy in this universe, why didn’t Esther just resurrect Henrik?
(I know he’s basically TVD version of Uncle Ben, but still.)
Plot.
Same reason Kol came back like three times but Klaus, Hayley, and Elijah couldn't be brought back.
Resurrection is such a difficult plot devise to introduce to supernatural world because it lessens the stakes. If anyone can be brought back at anytime, there is no fear of dying.
TVDU attempted to circumvent these issues by changing the rules of resurrection as they went. It allowed them to "explain" why certain characters had to stay dead and then when they wanted to bring someone back, they would add another way.
TVDU introduced resurrections with the idea of the Other Side. Since Qetsiyah created the Other Side, it allowed witches to bring back any supernatural back from the Other Side but it takes an immense amount of power. We see this happen with Jeremy several times.
Esther's strength has always confused me because she is not a first in her generation. We know Dahlia is considerably stronger than her, but we never really got to see Esther's raw power. I would even argue that she probably shouldn't have had enough power to create vampires based on what we do see. But since she canonically did, she should have easily had enough power to bring back Henrik. She was already dealing with dark forces. Also, considering how desperately Ayana was to prevent the plague of vampires, you would think she would have been willing to help bring Henrik back to stop Esther. I think it's safe to say a Bennett witch would have that type of power.
So potentially we could say Esther just didn't know this type of magic existed, but that just feels unlikely. I've heard the argument that he couldn't be brought back since he was human, but again, Jeremy was human and brought back multiple times before he became a Hunter.
In order to create stakes once more, in Season 5, the writers "collapsed" the Other Side. But before they did, Esther was able to just bring herself back by possessing a witch, along with Kol, Finn, and Ansel. Again, we are assuming Henrik was not on the Other Side with them since he died "human." There are arguments that he would be as an untapped witch and could have been on the other side. I used to not really buy into that because an "untapped witch" is just a human, but then when Freya had Finn in the talisman, she was able to channel his magic. So maybe untapped witches really do exist in TVDU.
Freya was able to keep Finn's soul in a talisman and resurrect him that way. I don't remember and I won't even ask where she got his body from. And then again with Elijah. But of course, the talisman broke and Freya never even attempted to create a new one to save her brothers again. Davina was able to resurrect Esther even after the other side fell with a gift of power from the Ancestors and her ashes. Who knows where Esther's soul was at that time. Kol was in the Ancestral Plane when he died the second time (I guess we assume they consecrated him in New Orleans). I don't remember what she tapped into to resurrect him, but she did and brought Kol back.
In TO, New Orleans makes it fairly easy to bring back witches with the Ancestral Plane. Look at how easily Celeste brought back three witches. So they got rid of that when they wanted to kill Davina off for good. But then somehow Inadu still brought her back. But also why wouldn't they have brought back their powerful witches. Also why didn't they use that protection spell more often? You know the one the witches used when Klaus killed them in Season 1 so they all just didn't die? And since it was so easy to bring them back, why was the Harvest that scary? They were just on the Ancestral Plane.
Resurrection is just so messy and the show really needed to create bigger consequences of bringing people back from the dead. They started off so good with showing it literally cost Bonnie her life. This creates stakes to doing so. But then that was the only time that it drew so much power it killed the witch casting it.
But seriously, why was Alaric brought back multiple times, but like Enzo, Lexi, Jenna, Jackson, Henrik, etc. couldn't be? It also makes the characters seem problematic. You're telling me that Josh wouldn't have begged Davina to bring Aiden back? She wouldn't rest until Kol was brought back but never even mentioned trying to help Aiden. There are so many instances where characters fight like hell to bring back one person but just accepted the death of another.
It was just all for the plot and honestly whatever contracts the actors had. But it makes for poor writing and unrealistic stakes.
Thanks for the ask! As always, let me know if I got anything wrong <3

Introducing » Rosalie Hendrix
Rosalie was once a girl in ancient times aiding her closest friend in creating an immortality spell. Her gratitude for the Travelers' protection was the root of all her actions and, when she looks back at it, the reason she found herself in the middle of Qetsiyah's and Silas' warfare. Her heart ripped out unjustly as a form of revenge from Silas himself, Rosalie was sentenced to the Other Side for the rest of eternity. Until Qetsiyah found the perfect opportunity to come back to life and pulled Rosalie with her. Now the two once again roam the land of living for one purpose: to finish what they started with Silas. However, Rosalie has no intention of returning to the Other Side like Qetsiyah plans to do. Absolutely not. Her life was already taken from her once, she is not going to let it happen again. The new world is much, much better than what it used to be and Rosalie just wants one opportunity to live her life as the witch she wasn't allowed to be back then. After all, her kind of magic hasn't been seen in a long, long time which means...she could totally be herself. In simple terms: she wants to be free and if she has to fight her own best friend while siding with their enemies to do it, then so be it.
Rosalie's Masterlist

Wait a minute the Gemini coven dated back to Qetsiyah? Did Qetsiyah work with/against them? I didn’t watch season 5 so I don’t really know much about the Traveller’s storyline. I know that’s the season Luke and Liv were introduced? Was the Gemini coven ever mentioned by name? I saw a scene where Liv tells Luke “the coven” is pissed at him and he gets an aneurysm.
But anyway if the Gemini coven dates back to the Qetsiyah days that’s awesome just gives me so much more plot-bunnies to work with that revolve around actual canon.
That means Bonnie and Kai’s witch-ancestors go further back than Esther and the Mikaelsons.
Yes, according to season 5 - and I don't blame you for not watching that season either - Luke and Liv's coven existed as far back as the time of Qestiyah and were either part of the group of witches or the witches that cursed the Travellers, stripping them of the ability to do traditional magic, and ostracizing them from the larger witch community. No, they don't mention the name of their coven until season 6.
Esther and her family are babies as far as TVD witch lore is concerned, and the only reason why they're shown to be so important is the show propping whiteness. Ayanna was Esther’s mentor and was preserved and resurrected by Bennett spirits. Her own bloodline was not powerful enough for her to channel (she channels NOLA witches in TO as well), and her greatest feat was a copycat of Qestiyah's original spell. Dahlia was super-powered, but she seems more an anomaly of her coven, who were all felled by normal human soldiers, than typical of them. She got her powers from practising Dark Magic which any ruthless witch who isn't afraid of losing her soul can do.

Bonnie going dark and merge kai egging her on while at the same time not being as bad as before would have been so interesting and it brings up the question if kai would have stayed merged kai with her bad influence on top of his own Urges and The chaos they would have brought together Would have been so epic bonnie and Clyde nope we got bonnie and kai here
God that would've been so interesting! But not in the hands of Plec obviously, we saw what her ass did. Since this ask has been sitting in my inbox I had some thoughts and fragmentary pieces for a season 7 au on my mind.
It would have followed after 6x16 ignoring basically everything that happened after that. Mama Salvatore would have been a figment of Bonnie's imagination for being in the prison world too long. The Gemini would've just killed her. Why would they imprison someone who had no ties to their coven? We ain't connecting them to the Salvatores bruh. Bonnie is still trying to adjust being in Mystic Falls again. Goes on a spiral that makes what she did with Expression look like child's play. Her friends attempt an intervention and it goes so so well.
Kai, after trying to apologize to Bonnie, would be stuck in an uphill battle against Joshua and the rest of the Gemini. Probably bring in some off the wall politics and more magic based stuff to the forefront. Kai is trying so hard to be somewhat good and the rest of the coven is straight up testing him.
I'd introduce an enemy that has both ties to the Bennett's and the Gemini. Someone from Qetsiyah's era or a little after. The enemy would be looking for Bonnie specifically. A species not yet introduced in the series at the time. Something that is on Lovecraftian levels.
Obviously circumstances would have Bonnie and Kai forced to interact. They get stuck in an alternate dimension not unlike the prison world. Kai grovels for Bonnie's forgiveness so she can at least somewhat tolerate his presence. At this point she snaps and takes out her anger on him. This doesn't magically, pun intended, bring them closer but she now semi-tolerates him. The creature plays upon this, mimicking their voices and taking on their visage. He puts them through the wringer before Bonnie and Kai dig deeper into the family history and find out what he is: a being so corrupted by wild magic that he is no longer considered human. They defeat him and the wild magic finally gets what it wants, Bonnie.
The season would end with Bonnie basically going through the phase she did with the huntress but way worse (for her and everyone else)

The Traveler storyline. There's a lot of overlay, which I’ve mentioned several times before. Everything Elena feels in Stefan's absence in the 5th season, she feels when she's with Damon in the 3rd. Qetsiyah introduced the doppelganger curse, and because she was extremely secretive, it continued through Markos. The difference between the curse and the sire bond is shown throughout.
Did you plant those dreams? What is it, some kind of, like, witch party trick? But I'm telling you, it's the most real thing that I have ever felt in my entire life.

amara's silence is deafening. silas is scared that she no longer wants to associate herself with him. after all, he's a married man and adultery is considered a crime in greece. women, mostly, paid the price for the infraction because the men are notorious for abandoning their homes. had it not been for an arranged marriage, he would have lived alone till his last breath. no one else could ever fill the void after amara's departure. when she finally speaks, he heeds her command and reaches for her hand.
during their walk, he can't stop staring at her in amazement. she's no longer bound to a life of servitude but free as a hummingbird. a soft smile spreads across his face, full of relief and joy for his love. before they enter home, silas cleans away at his lips and fixes his hair, messy from their previous entanglement. a polite expression falls over his features when they're greeted by a cheerful woman. he remains quiet after greeting amara's friend and cordially introducing himself. lips twitch into a smile, looking from clymere to the brunette as she muses about how much she's missed him. she can read him well, his lips are smiling but his eyes are hesitant, guilty almost. as clymene starts to take her leave, he nods and smiles, "ευχαριστώ." (thank you.)
as amara starts to explain why she wasn't upset by the news of his marriage to qetsiyah, silas frowns and cradles her cheek in his hand. his thumb brushes over her cheekbone, "i'm sorry, amara. i truly am. i only married because i had nothing left. after you vanished, i forfeited every dream i had of us, i was sure you were better off away from us, including me." because he's a part of those that deprived her from freedom. "but clymere is right, my heart, it burns bright for you. it hasn't behaved this way since you left. here," he reaches for her hand and places it over his chest, "do you feel that?"
amara knew the woman silas spoke of, had even been by to offer her the minimal knowledge she had in terms of soothing what she could. she quiets as he further explains the aftermath of her leaving, not surprised by the information until he grows nervous. amara watches his throat, noticing the slight trepidation to his eyes as he tells her he's married qetsiyah. it causes her stomach to drop, the noise around them picking up again as silence falls between them.
it wasn't that she was hurt, per say. she knew the risk of leaving silas behind and what it might mean he had to do. marrying qetsiyah, though painful to the woman he truly loves, probably did them both a favor. if the witch had suspicions about silas, it would silence them. if she felt threatened by amara in any form previously, it appeared as though she had won. the handmaid nods and takes silas by the hand. "come with me."
the short journey from the center of the market to where amara had been staying wasn't a long one. a small oiko nestled within a grove of evergreen holm oaks sat quietly, unsuspecting on the outskirts of another camp like that of the travelers. the older woman who lived inside was generous and kind, allowing amara to stay so long as she helped with what was needed. and given her previous occupation, that was something she knew how to do very well. as she and silas enter hand in hand, clymere rises from the table where she'd been preparing artos; her specialty.
a smile broadened across her face, warmth and happiness radiating at the sight of amara with the man she'd most certainly spent the last few months speaking of. "οι εραστές!" the lovers, she cooed. "look at this man, no wonder you've been such a downtrodden girl." her focus went to silas, arms stretching wide to bring him in for a hug. "she has missed you beyond measure, adonis! but i knew! i knew you would find her! i felt it when she stepped into my home. there was another soul searching for hers. she did not want to believe me, however." amara shrugs at the comment, "better to have not gotten my hopes up, i was already devastated enough." clymere laughs, "and yet here he is! perhaps now you will believe in my gifts."
given her own understanding of things beyond their world, it wasn't that amara hadn't believed. she did. clymere's 'senses' were the only thing to keep her from simply drifting out to sea. "i do see the complications you spoke of," the older woman notes to amara. "they're in his eyes. but the heart… it's as bright as the sun. no one could cause that but you." amara smiles then, finding her way back to silas' side as clymere moves to gather her bowls. "i leave you be." she winks and throws a hand up before amara can protest. "hippolyta's oven is better than our small one. and she has rosemary!" she looks to man before them. "enjoy each other. i will be back tomorrow." even if amara wanted to feel guilty, she couldn't. she wanted every last second she could have with silas. for even still, it wouldn't last.
as the silence of clymere's exit settles, amara leans against silas and revels in it. this is what it could be like, if he could free himself as she had. "she told me you would marry her," she says before looking up to him. "it's why you're not seeing me upset over it." amara already had been. give yourself the chance to grieve, girl, but your story does not end with this, clymere had said. months ago. "she came to me one night, out of the blue, to tell me. i can only assume it was the night you married." she hadn't slept at all. from the time the sun went down until it came back up, amara laid awake with dread. her mind wouldn't stop thinking about what a union would entail. she doesn't want to inquire about the questions she has, afraid of his answers. for these were the facts clymere could not know.
"i couldn't eat for days. my mind was a terrible place to be, imagining... all there was to imagine." she still can't say, can't ask to what extent silas has committed to the role he now plays. not even for herself but rather, because she is unsettled at the idea of him doing something he didn't want to do.

Klaus having a thing for caroline doesn't make any sense it was kind of out of nowhere
You have a bennett witch and instead your focusing on this baby vampire
Personally I would have preferred that over bonnie and enzo
Also storyline wise it would have made more sense the originals and qetsiyah with the immortal spell and with the vampirism aspect
Or even with kol but julie plec was running with the bonnie too pure to be with a vampire shit
it literally came out of nowhere like?? he compelled tyler to bite her then went to save her and was all soft?
100% i would’ve preferred klonnie. imo they had more chemistry AND klaroline’s whole thing was klaus trying to get caroline to give in to her dark side but a temptation to darkness was NEVER a part of caroline’s character. you know who did have a temptation to darkness? b o n n i e
not to mention that once klaus is introduced tyler starts to be constantly a. compelled to hurt caroline or b. written off the show just to separate them and people paint tyler in this negative light like he just was horrible and mean and was bad to caroline like. again it’s the racism for me

But since I brought it up! I am *pissed* we never saw the Bennett family as an actual family, and even more so as a functioning coven. We could expand on the traditions and history of the Gemini + Mikaelsons, but not the Bennetts? They're basically witch nobility given all they contributed + accomplished, but we can't have Black ~servants~ esteemed. And it was a way to isolate Bonnie so she had no network to lean on so she was at the disposal of Elena and Damon
One of my true regrets when it came to this franchise was that I stuck around as long as I did, hoping that, as a set of shows meant to focus on Family, that they would expand on all the families in meaningful ways.
Boy was I sorely disappointed!
I think that's why I'm so spiteful toward it now, all these years later. We got entire sobstories regarding the Salvatore Family Drama. For being an orphan, Elena had more parents and family than you could shake a stick at. Caroline's relationship with her mom was front and center when it came to her story. Hell, even Matt, who didn't have a storyline, had a relationship with his family.
But Bonnie? Tyler?
Isn't it ironic that the only two characters of color on the main cast got shafted when it came to the issue of Family?
Let's start with Bonnie, since she was the whole basis of this ask. I mean, how many times over the course of the show was the Bennett Family mentioned? How many times did something hinge on one of Bonnie's ancestors being the one who cast a spell, or craft a curse or create some object object, all of which required a direct descendant to break and/or use? And yet, how often does Bonnie get to be the one who interacted with them? Emily interacted more with Katherine, Stefan and Damon. Ayana, who was just a recast actress (she was a math teacher in season one) only ever interacted with Esther and Rebekah. Qetsiyah had one scene with Bonnie!
The only members of this illustrious family that Bonnie really interacted with was her Grams, and most of that happened after her death. Her own parents were barely there (insert absentee black parents stereotype here). And then there was Lucy. Lucy, who was shown to be more experienced and powerful than her younger cousin, only to have her interact with Katherine for the most part before being killed off screen that we only find out about through a one liner.
For a show that constantly mentioned the Founding Families (seriously, how many Founding Day events happened on that show?), you'd think we'd get something to do with the Bennett Family, seeing as how they, along with the Maxwell Family, were the true founders of Mystic Falls. Of course, that reveal was pulled out of Plec's ass at the last moment in the show's final season, and only really focused on Matt as they turned Bonnie and Caroline into Elena.
Tumblr media
How much more powerful would this scene have been if we'd actually explored Bonnie's family? Like you said, we spent how much time exploring the Mikaelson Family and the Gemini Coven, despite the characters connected to them just being recurring guest characters, but we never actually explore the Bennett Family outside of them being powerful witches and that's it. Those women (no men in this family?), have no other characteristics aside from being strong with magic and then dying so that their descendant can suffer as she tries to undo whatever it was that they done, and always for someone else, never herself.
Moving on to the Lockwood Family.
Yes, the Lockwoods did play a more significant role in the series, with the mayor of the town being played by two different Lockwoods over four seasons. But was there any exploration into their history as werewolves outside of interactions with Katherine? First that ancestor who bargained for the moonstone and then Sexy Uncle Mason, but never really anything with Tyler, the main Lockwood on the cast.
The only werewolf stuff that Tyler got to explore was his excruciatingly painful transformations (Trevino acted the hell out of that first transformation, fight me on that) in an old slave cellar (racist much?)
No, instead, all of the werewolf lore was given to the Werewolf Queen of the Bayou, Hayley. And in a show dedicated to the constant battles between the various supernatural factions of New Orleans, it felt more like them trying to add more than the show could handle. The thing that makes it even more infuriating is the fact that they introduce the concept of seven different werwolf bloodlines, and yet we only focus on Hayley and the Crescent Pack. Only to pull out all that crap with the Hollow and mention that, "Hey, Tyler's family had a big role to play here, but we obviously only thought of this after we killed him and his entire family off, so it'll have to go through Hayley, like all things werewolf."
So the potential was there all the time, but it was never followed up on by Plec and her cronies. Instead, we had to wait four seasons for rhem to introduce a white character that they could write for, by introducing her as a potential threat to Tyler's romance (thus letting that Kl*roline bullshit gain traction) before having her literally sell out Tyler and his family for the sake of her dead parents?
Aaaahhhh!

Thankfully, I have not watched Legacies at all, otherwise I'm sure I'd be even more frustrated with how they handled (or didn't) Rafael Waithe.
It's like you said, all of this was done deliberately by the production to make everything revolve around their central white characters by not having their characters of color have anyone to rely on outside of them. They did this with Bonnie and Tyler, as well as Marcel and Vincent. I get so mad when I think of the potential these shows could have had that was all thrown away for the sake of some two-dimensional romances.

It is interesting that modern Bennetts are presented as being so dedicated to keeping the balance of Nature, yet every time, they do something insane that shapes the entire supernatural world and disrupts everything.
They are out here messing with the rules of life and death and space and dimensions and worlds with those dimensions.
Emily designed the "Gilbert" rings as tools for resurrection. Another witch turned humans into supernatural beings by making them Hunters and also designed the daggers to put down an Original. Bonnie summoned her ancestors from the Peace realm (no one ever did that) through her psychic abilities. She could also interact in the realm of Limbo. Then we have the prison worlds that need Bennett blood.
Qetsiyah with the other side and immortality spell. She disrupted the original path for supernatural beings after death by creating an alternative Purgatory. Which, in turn, also opened the doors for the Schism between the travelers and the witches as we know them to happen. That inadvertently led to the surge of different types of magic branches to be explored by the witches coming after Qetsiyah. Cause the way the show introduced it, only pure magic was used. With the other side, we got spirit magic.
If the writers had the balls to expand on Qetsiyah and give her the whole Markos/Travellers curse storyline to her family unit, then tied it wit her descendants aka the Bennetts, I’d be so down for that. We could have gotten the Bennett lore of how things came to be with magic, the rules of nature and more.
Because the show keeps harping on this whole concept around “keeping balance of Nature”, and it’s just (often biased) dead witches regulating how a living witch should use their magic and even punish them if they don’t follow their rules. It's an interesting concept to show how flawed it actually was coming from the witches’s perspective, because ya’ll didn’t have to do all that.
Because there is also the enigma Nature that existed since the beginning of time and where magic comes from. It is this unbiased and unconscious entity keeping things in check and operating smoothly in a way. It course corrects even with all the vampires, werewolves, immortals, etc. in the mix that were created by these same witches. I honestly think that given time, these creatures and existences would just be seen as ‘normal’ to nature and part of the whole supernatural cycle. I mean, look at the Immortals. The only side effect Nature had was the birth of the doppelgangers popping up to balance immortals ‘dying’ in a sense, and it was done an over with.
Also, with this plot it could have been a perfect chance to showcase the infighting that still happened between witches or even the Bennetts and introduce more distant family members for Bonnie who did or didn’t follow the rules. It was already established that Bonnie’s family comes from the Travellers so why introduce the Parkers / Markos for that? Heck, they could’ve even made Markos Qetsiyah’s brother… since they had plans to introduce her family unit, but didn’t and we got another cycle of Stelena and the love triangle.
At this point, does Bonnie’s line serve nature, or have they conquered it in such a way with their feats that it bends to their whims?

TVD forever: [8/8] relationships - Katherine & Stefan & Doppelgangers
You came back here to fall in love with me all over again, didn’t you?
[Caption: several gifsets of Stefan and Katherine’s relationships in The Vampire Diaries, with added gifts from other doppelgangers. The first row includes their intrigued expressions when they meet for the first time, as Katherine comes to the Salvatore home; and another gif compiling moments like Elena angrily questioning if Stefan still has feelings for Katherine, Silas saying she doesn’t want to look at Elena’s face (calling her “imposter”, and Katherine taunting Elena about how it’s getting easier to pretend she’s her. The second row features Katherine biting Stefan when they’re in bed together; and another gif including Elena and Katherine’s first encounter (Katherine sizes her up while Elena is paralized), Silas introducing himself to Stefan calling him “my shadow self”, and the three Petrova doppelgangers offering blood to Qetsiyah. The third row has Stefan and Katherine stuck in a safe, with her telling him she’s with him, grabbing his face while he panics; and a gif including Silas calling himself a supernatural Madonna, Amara telling Qetsiyah she admits defeat, and Elena holding a burning match about to burn down her house. The last row includes Stefan putting a stake through Katherine’s heart, holding her in his arms, telling her to burn in hell; and another gif of Tom Avery’s death, Tatia’s terrified expression before Elijah kills her, and Silas holding Amara’s face and putting a knife on her throat, about to fulfill her wish.]

Elixir of immortality mtg tcg series#
In Kill 'Em All, Rayna forfeits her remaining life, giving it up to Bonnie, however, moments before she plunges the dagger through her heart, her and the Shamon betray Damon, passing all the traits and qualities of Huntress to Bonnie. The Shaman mentioned that the tea would make Rayna Cruz strong, and immune to magic. The tea itself was part of a ritual cast by the Eight Everlastings. In This Woman's Work, the tea of protection was introduced in a flashback. It was also revealed that the cure was in the form of a potion. Qetsiyah was so furious at this betrayal that she created the Other Side and the Cure for immortality, in an effort to punish him by forcing him to be stuck with her on the Other Side for eternity. However, Qetsiyah was left standing at the altar, only to learn that Silas had stolen the Immortality elixir, which he had shared with his true love, Amara. Qetsiyah was under the impression that Silas and her would drink the elixir at their wedding. In Original Sin, it is revealed that the Immortality spell that was used to turn Silas and Amara into Immortals was created in the form of an elixir created by the powerful witch, Qetsiyah. Esther also binds the last remaining white oak stake to the Gilbert Ring, meaning that the stake will not burn up in its victim. Binding to the blood of Elena gives Esther the ability to bind Alaric's life to Elena's not that of the white oak. Esther uses the same spell she used a thousand years ago but instead of using the blood of Tatia, the spell is bound to the blood of Elena, another Petrova doppelganger. Esther channels the magical hotspot where Klaus killed her a thousand years ago. In Do Not Go Gentle, she recreates the potion, but with Alaric. After, he made them drink the blood of a nearby villager, completing the ritual and thus, creating the first vampires. After drinking the wine, he drove his sword through each of his children's hearts. That night, Esther mixed the blood of Tatia, the first Petrova doppelganger, into the wine her children were to drink at supper. She called upon the sun for life and the white oak tree for immortality. Esther performed the spell that enhanced the doppelganger blood. Making an Immortality potion using blood from Amara's doppelgänger line. In Ordinary People, it was revealed that the Original Vampires were created by Esther with a modified Immortality Spell based on Qetsiyah's elixir. It's unknown if this would still work or not, considering it's unknown if it only works in doppelgängers or any supernatural being. The life-restoring elixir is likely still in Elijah's possession. 518 years later, Elijah planned to giving the elixir to Elena, however after being forced to drink vampire blood, the potion's effect became useless. However, Katerina escaped before knowing of the elixir, and became a vampire instead. In The Last Day, it was revealed that in 1492, Elijah had requested a potion that would resurrect Katerina after the sacrifice ritual. Showing the elixir to Katherine which burnt her, she warned her of the council's growing threat. She sold it at her apothecary order to be inconspicuous even though she was a vampire herself. In Children of the Damned, it was revealed that in 1864, Pearl was providing vervain given by Honoria Fell in the form of an elixir to the townspeople in order to combat the vampires in town.

Throughout The Vampire Diaries Series Season One
1 Throughout The Vampire Diaries Series.
If you have a way to untap it, you can activate the ability multiple times in response to itself. Wotc Paying the activation cost of Elixir of Immortality’s ability doesn’t cause it to leave the battlefield. You are considered to have shuffled each affected library (even if, as a shortcut, each player physically shuffles their own library). Wotc If you gain control of another player’s Elixir of Immortality and activate it, the Elixir of Immortality will be shuffled into its owner’s library and the cards in your graveyard will be shuffled into your library. Wotc As the ability resolves, you’ll shuffle Elixir of Immortality into its owner’s library directly from the battlefield, if it’s still there. If it’s anywhere else by that time, including in another player’s graveyard, it remains where it is and you shuffle just your graveyard into your library. Wotc If Elixir of Immortality is in your graveyard at the time the ability resolves, you’ll still wind up shuffling it into your library because you shuffle your entire graveyard into your library.

Damon was so ready to come clean to Elena about killing Aaron and then fight to win her forgiveness, yet, as soon as she forgave him, he broke up with her again, because they were “toxic”. What happened to not running away from your problems, Damon? What happened to not wanting to end up alone like Katherine?
This show is absurd. Katherine had an entire episode dedicated to her death only to stick around for a few more episodes and get another episode dedicated to her death. Similarly, Damon broke up with Elena because he was bad for her, but when Damon and Elena decided to fight for each other, Katherine broke up with him again; however, when Damon realized he hadn’t been dumped by Elena, he was ready to win her back - except that he dumped her, again.
The writers are really running out of ideas, uh? This season is aimless. After they took care of Silas, Qetsiyah, Amara, and the Augustine storyline (which was, like, not even half-way through the season), they had no idea what to do with the Travelers or with anchor Bonnie. To buy themselves some time they brought in Katherine to wreck some havoc on Elena’s life and broke Delena up again. They just keep recycling the same ideas. Now that Liv and her brother have been introduced in the story, the writers must already have an endgame in mind, but they’re still trying to drag the story out as much as they can.
This might legit be the worst season of the show. I can’t be sure, because I can’t remember what happens in the last two seasons, but it’s the worse of the Elena seasons anyway - hands down. Season 4 made a lot more sense, at least.
