Y’know what I really love? The fact that BATIM alone has inspired a whole new toon Aesthetic. Like, it might be reminiscent of the ol’ 1930 cartoons like Steamboat Willie, Popeye, Betty Boop, Scrappy, Flip the Frog, Felix the cat, etc. but each song, story and oc brings with it its own look, sound and style! Its even given birth to its own style of toons like @the-vampire-inside-me‘s Abel Angel, Toon!Henry by @squigglydigglydoo , RubberHose!Henry+ by @yunisverse , the mafia!au made by @eliana55226838 , and more! 

It’s fantastic!

OKAY, IS ANYONE ELSE MAD AT HOW MUCH OF A MANIPULATIVE A-HOLE JOEY IS?? I MEAN, SRSLY, THIS GUY NEEDS TO BE PUNCHED BECAUSE not only does Joey practically sabotage everyone in the studio (Sammy with the ink switch, EVERYONE with the ink pipes, Susie with Alison, HENRY WITH JUST... EVERYTHING) but you can see one of his key manipulation tactics right in the audio log when he goes on about Belief and what it can do, as if he really believes it. But then he ends it with a “what a beautiful... and silly thought” as if all of that was just a face, a pitch to get people to buy into his “vision” so he can sit back and watch the workers go. AND THEN he has the gall to go and charm Susie into not being angry about the whole “SURPRISE! YOU’VE BEEN REPLACED” deal before possibly using her as a SACRIFICE to bring to life Alice Angel.

NO WONDER HENRY LEFT.

Dude, Grace trying to convince Sinclair to let Eleanor go because "it wasn't right" for him to keep her there. To which he pops right around and is like, "If she can't do the time she shouldn't have done the crime, and I do believe trespassin' on private property is a crime even by your standards." followed by something like "If she wants out, she's gonna have to work off her time. Until then, she's not leavin’ and is just as much a part a' this staff as you are. Now, get back to work.” 

Then when Eleanor’s friends go get Johnny, he comes and agrees to work off Eleanor’s time - which seems like a sweet deal to Sinclair bc Johnny’s buff af and has multiple skills which make him a really versatile worker. However, as Johnny’ s working there, Lamb gets wind that Johnny’s conveniently “abandoned” her daughter and tries to gain custody of Eleanor on the grounds of abandonment and child endangerment caused by Johnny’s disappearance/time in Persophone.

Ok, I dunno about anyone else, but when I listened to Joey’s tape again, I immediately thought of Jeff Bridges from Tron: Legacy.

Ok, so since I’m sick and can’t get to sleep, I decided to see if I could get my little toon angel oc drawn up. So here’s Dilan P. Dexter! He’s a small (ad)ministering angel commonly mistaken for a cherub. He’s a premier desk jockey and excels at explaining the rules to people in the simplest of layman's terms. His job includes compiling reports, briefings and conducting interviews for potential city Peace Keepers (police). He lives in a small flat in Heavenly Heights apartment complex in the inner city south of Pasquil Park in Burlecity.

All of us were terrible people sometime in our lives. Sometimes we end up consumed by the regret that comes from those times, but honestly, the best and only thing we can really do is recognize that we were terrible people, promise ourselves to do better, and hold ourselves accountable by doing better every day. It takes baby steps to do better and become a better person, and sometimes that baby step is forgiving ourselves for the stuff we didn’t do or did wrong.

We all have bad days, do mean things, and do things we really should’t have. But once we recognize what we did was bad, we need to forgive ourselves so we can strive to be better and move on.

Looking back at my notes on Bonely, looks like this isn’t the first time I’ve found the similarities between Bonely and Capone. I think it just came as a shock to me today because I’ve only ever seen black & white photos of Al Capone and so I didn’t know his eyes were blue.

Okay, for everyone interested in a GrimFandango Discord, what kind of stuff would you like to see in the discord? I know a few friends who are into GF suggested an rp section for anyone interested in doing GFandago ocs & stuff. Then there’d be a channel for fan-art, fan fics, & game discussion.

Anything else come to mind?

Okay so something I’ve noticed that has been going around the rp community has been just writing whatever you feel like in regards to your muse and, although this can be the source of spontaneous fun, it can also be a source of tension between yourself and your partners. 

For those of us who sometimes feel like our characters are people in the back of our minds demanding attention or something, we need to remember that as much as we want to write them without restraint, we can’t. Or rather, we mustn’t. As rpers, we often forget that our characters are not in control of the blogs. We are and we need to control ourselves as well as the muses we write. We need to limit our own exposure to certain themes, content, and such, which means limiting our character(s)’ exposure to said themes. 

This means keeping a balance between happy and angsty threads/music/inspirations/etc. and redirecting threads and muses to either prevent certain things happening or change the things that are already happening in-thread. If we don’t, we risk writing ourselves into corners, undercutting character development, and even dissuading ourselves and others from writing with said character. 

One of the things that have helped me in this matter is when I read content that I know would (or feels like it would) upset me or my muse, I stop and take some time away from the computer. This could be one minute, five minutes, however long it takes for me to think of a suitable solution/response that will benefit me, my muse/character, and/or the situation at hand. If nothing comes to mind then I simply write out the response in my evernote and leave it there. No need to bring drama where it’s not wanted.

This DEFINITELY applies to those instantaneous “Knee-jerk reactions”. Although OOC knee-jerk reactions need to be avoided at all costs (see paragraph above), IC knee-jerk reactions need to be used very carefully and sparingly. My advice: unless it’s for comedic purposes, don’t resort to knee-jerk reactions. 

Also REMEMBER CHARACTER/SETTING CONTEXT. 

Something I’ve noticed in chatroom rps is that when there’s more than one character/rper present, the chat is treated as one giant room which means no privacy (even if it’s specifically stated to be in “another room” or “whispered” to another character. We must remember that even though we the Mun’s are able to see everything going on, our characters cannot and must not! Otherwise, plot points end up being spoiled and characters end up reacting to things they should not even know about.

This leads to serious problems with rp and between rpers because omniscient knowing without explanation is actually a form of godmodding. Unless your character is a mindreader or can hear through walls, they should not know the others’ thoughts or know about secret conversations they shouldn’t.

Also, I’ve noticed that many rpers often project onto their characters and although this can sometimes be used as a coping mechanism, this can also lead to the rper taking IC insults seriously OOC. This is when we need to remember that RP is a GAME. It’s NOT REAL. Please avoid taking anything done or said by a character (original or not) seriously or personally. It was done IC not OOC and was likely not meant to be taken that way.

And last but NOT LEAST: WHEN A THREAD, ASK OR CHARACTER PLOT IS MAKING YOU UNCOMFORTABLE OR IS GOING IN A DIRECTION YOU DON’T LIKE—

—SAY SOMETHING!!!

We can’t always control the situation or how others will react. But we CAN tell the mun “hey, this isn’t what I wanted to do”, “this really isn’t ok with me”, or even “Hey, I know you’re excited/into this but I really don’t want to do this rn.” 

Communication between RP partners is ESSENTIAL to a happy, healthy rp partner relationship. If you don’t say something is wrong, then the other person will have no idea why you’re upset. Talk to them and when you’re on the receiving end of this listen to them. 

Everyone has their comfort zones and their discomfort zones. Some are more flexible with those boundaries and some arn’t, but whether your one or the other, you need to respect those boundaries and be respected in return.

So yeah, that’s it for now. So please take care of yourselves and always bear in mind that no one is responsible for you or your experience here but you.

DO NOT BULLY ARTISTS FOR THEIR NON-ARTISTIC HOBBIES.

Folks, if you’re going to unfollow someone, just unfollow someone. Don’t try to guilt or bully them into changing their content by throwing shade about why you unfollowed them. Whether it’s because you don’t like their politics, their ocs, or even the passtimes that they enjoy between making art/music/drabbles/etc., THAT’S FINE. However GUILTING SOMEONE - especially someone who makes something you enjoy - is a WONDERFUL way to make them STOP PRODUCING CONTENT. 

ART IS EXHAUSTING GUYS. It is. It’s mentally, physically and emotionally straining. I myself can only do a grand total of 3 consecutive hours a week because of the condition of my arms. So Guess what that does for art creation? It makes it scarce. So what do I and probably JUST ABOUT EVERY CONTENT CREATOR OUT THERE do when we can’t make art???  

We share/reblog stuff about stuff we love. Whether it’s screen shots from us playing our fave videogames, reblogs of art/writing that inspires us, or commentary on our favorite show, we make it to make us happy, to make us and others motivated to make things we love. 

You want us to make art? Then either Commission us or let us enjoy our hobbies and wait for us to make OUR CONTENT on OUR TIME on OUR BLOGS. 

Suggestions are nice but bullying people over the hobbies they enjoyed enough to share with us is unacceptable.

STOP IT.

And to content creators getting anons or messages decrying and discouraging your hobbies & pass times because they came for your art and not for you-

BLOCK THEIR BUTTS.

Because if they had ANY respect for you as an artist, they wouldn’t be trying to emotionally abuse/manipulate you into abandoning YOUR hobbies so you can cater to THEIR whims. YOU ARE NOT THEIR SLAVE NOR THEIR WHIPPING BOY. Your blog is YOURS and as bad as losing followers feels, losing THOSE kinds of followers is better for your health than having them in the first place.
