to add onto this i also think that this is why pearl and martyn match each others crazy a bit simply because they both represent something that can drive you crazy and they kinda can’t exist without the other?
like think about it you can’t Love something without Wanting it because it you want to be with a person, you want to have something you Love because you Want it etc.
Wanting something is inherently Loving something so much you need it
this kinda kinda fuels my headcanon that Pearl and Martyn are twins but yk that’s just me
HEADCANON TIME
Pearl, Grian, Jimmy and Martyn are siblings and they represent the four inevitables of life
Pearl represents Love. In every life series shes in and even just any series shes in she tends to gravitate towards and love people. Whether that is a good or bad thing depends. She's kind and friendly most of the time and she loves joking around with her friends but she gets on the defensive when they are threatened very easily. Even in double life, she went crazy all because Scott didn't love her, or even just care for her. She lived through and went crazy because of love.
Martyn represents the human nature, or even just the conscious nature, of Want. Whether this manifests through greed or through ambition depends as well. In third life he joined forces to create an empire-like system. He won last life because he killed his own teammate to win. He is constantly showing a force of want and desire for things and stops at nothing to get them.
Jimmy represents Chaos (now you may think that that would be Grian but hold your horses we will get to him shut up). He never stays in one server for very long, he is the representation of when all hell breaks loose on the life series, being the canary, and a lot of the things he does doesn't make sense. Chaos does not lie in the anger it brings or how unorganized it is, it lies in unpredictability. Honestly that's why Grian isn't the embodiment of chaos, because his insanity is predictable. That's just who he is. But Jimmy doesn't define himself. He doesn't stick to one pattern, one label, one idea, one group, etc for a very long time. He's always moving in a way you never quite get.
And finally, my boy Grian. The final inevitability of the universe. The ideas of Life and Death. I mean come on its pretty obvious. Grian is an inevitable force that never stops and is never moved. He is always, ALWAYS, in motion. He started the life series, which is also called the death games. He is technically a devine being. He is often associated with death. My favorite part about this though is how that connects to Jimmy. Jimmy, is the harbinger of death. Grian, IS death. So either the canary and the poison are working together to kill the coal miner, or Jimmy is actively pushing away the inevitable.
ANYWAYS THESE ARE JUST MY THOUGHTS BUT I HOPE YOU LIKE 🙏🙏

"Because of their poor tolerance for low temperatures, lumians have developed glacieration, commonly known as frost mode. (...) The body freezes over as it switches its priority from mantaining heat to creating adrenaline in the hopes of the individual being able to use said energy to ensure their safety. However, prolonged streams of adrenaline like this are poisonous, and if frost mode is not disengaged it results in death." Spirit Tamer, E. (3012). Okay I've been trying to figure out how Real Life would fit into my narrative for the series and it being a collective dream sequence is GENIUS. I haven't been able to figure out how the vr mechanics could work when writing things out as if they're just people in the games, and it being a dream would make all the weird scaling and general disorientation everyone was experiencing make so much sense, thank you
This session was something for sure! I was constantly bobbing between ecstasy and depression. (I was left in depression as mumbo died😢). What with the almost pointed questions (why did the bot have to do scar like that) and the mace alliance (is it even an alliance?) it all seemed a bit specific to desert duo. Can all that really be a coincidence? Here's my headcannon.
The watchers made this series to mainly feed off the emotions of the players. Out of all the emotions they have had, grief was their favorite one (they generally preferred negative emotions). So, they put them in a game that one could not really win.
The first season was Grian's win. To the watchers this was almost perfect (the only thing they were unhappy about was that Grian had won). After killing Scar he was a sea of grief, and the watchers could feast.
The second season, they considered a failure. This time Scott won. They would have preferred almost anyone else. Even after winning the death game he did not have much negative emotions. In fact, he had a sense of victory. The watchers out of anger and shame killed him on the spot.
Double life was much more successful in their eyes. Pearl had given them a constant stream of negative emotions. Upon her death she left behind a huge amount of rage and not enough greif. She even left behind relif. This was far from perfect.
In limited life Martyn gave them a huge mocktail of negative emotions, but his cons overweighed his pros. He was aligned with the listeners. He asked much too many questions. Upon his win they sped up the clock and waited him to die. He left behind grief but it wasnt nearly enough.
Scar constantly radiated greif and lonliness in this season. They decided to keep him and feed off him until the next games. But they still longed for the huge amount of grief that had cured their hunger for weeks during the first game.
I think real life was not something the watchers had control over. It was a regular minigame conducted by the players which they subconsciously built to resemble the watchers games.
In wild life, I feel the watchers are chasing that perfect formula they had in third life. Renchanting is back, and they are trying to bring desert duo back through the bots and stuff. They had tried the same in double life but that had failed. They hope for better results this season so they can once again make them kill each other.
