International Sculpture Day 

International Sculpture Day (ISDay) is a worldwide celebration event to further the International Sculpture Center’s (ISC) mission of advancing the creation and understanding of sculpture and its unique, vital contribution to society. ISDay      occurs on the last Saturday of April every year. Anyone or any organization with an appreciation and commitment to the field of sculpture is invited to participate.

The world will once again join in celebration of sculpture during the 7th annual International Sculpture Day, or ISDay. With over 40 million online impressions in 2020, ISDay has become the foremost celebrated sculpture event in the world.    Celebrate the community, the work, and the love of sculpture!                

With artists, organizations and institutions worldwide expected to celebrate the day, participation can be as simple as including #isday on all social media posts!  Suggested types of in person and virtual events include demonstrations, exhibitions, interviews, iron pours, online arts course, open studios, panels, parties and openings, sculptor generated projects for Individuals to do at home, sculpture scavenger hunts, , tours of collections, unveiling public sculptures, webinars, workshops or simply share Images and description of you work!

International Sculpture Day, April 24

International Sculpture Day is celebrated in over 20 countries. Sculptors and admirers come together to enjoy, encourage and show support through a variety of events designed to keep sculpture at the center of the celebration.

International Sculpture Day, or IS Day, is a worldwide annual celebration of sculpture on April 24. It was established by the International Sculpture Center and is meant to raise awareness, appreciation and enjoyment of sculpture in communities across the globe. During the inaugural 2015 IS Day, over 50 events were held in 12 countries including Switzerland, China, Germany, England, Australia, Austria, Canada, Spain, New Zealand, and the USA. In its second year, over 200 events were held in 20+ countries including Australia, Denmark, Poland, Nigeria, Canada, France, Burkina Faso, Bolivia, Croatia and Mexico.

Types of IS Day events include open studios, demonstrations, workshops, public art tours, open museums, brown bag lunches, sculpture scavenger hunts, book signings, foundry pours, pop up exhibitions, opening receptions, competitions, artist talks, and more.

Happy #internationalsculptureday everyone! Here’s a pic of my favorite sculpture from the past few years. It’s titled #skylake and is composed of over a hundred translucent pigmented acrylic shapes suspended in a specific pattern to create the illusion of a lake above the entry to the new Smith Springs Community Center. It is my first large-scale work of #publicart and I am still so proud of all of the research, community outreach, and year-long work that the #metroartsnashville allowed me to create.
