The Yale School of Public Health Humanitarian Research Lab released a new report detailing evidence of russia's system of coerced deportation and naturalization, reeducation, fostering, and adoption of Ukrainian children.
The key findings:
Yale HRL has identified 314 individual children from Ukraine who have been placed in Russia’s systematic program of coerced adoption and fostering.
Russia’s officials listed children from Ukraine in Russia’s child placement databases.
Russia’s Aerospace Forces and aircraft under the direct control of President Putin’s office transported multiple groups of children.
At least 67 of the 314 children from Ukraine have been naturalized as Russian citizens since being taken to Russia.
At least 208 of the 314 children identified have been placed for adoption or guardianship with citizens of Russia.
Approximately half (46.6%) of the children identified have siblings.
Children have been taken to at least 21 regions throughout Russia.
Russia’s system of coerced adoption and fostering has been ordered and facilitated by President Vladimir Putin and Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights in the Russian Federation Maria Lvova-Belova.
Children assessed to be from Ukraine have been listed across three primary child placement databases in Russia as if they are children born in Russia.
Russia utilizes psychologists (психологи) as part of an apparent effort to legitimize the program.
All children identified in this report have been taken from Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts.
At least 80.4% of children from Ukraine listed in Russia’s databases have been taken from Donetsk oblast.
Children taken from Ukraine were transferred to various midpoint locations within Russia.
Children from Ukraine have been subjected to pro-Russia re-education.
Agencies operating Russia’s databases would later limit what personally identifiable information was publicly available about children in the databases.
You can read the full report here.

Dozens of Ukrainian children from a Russian-occupied city in Ukraine were taken to Belarus and sent to “emergency survival training” with the Belarusian military, according to local media.
The Belarus 4 Mogilev state television channel reported on Wednesday that 35 children from the city of Antratsyt in eastern Ukraine, which Russia has occupied since 2014, were sent to the eastern Belarusian city of Mogilev, where they were taught “how to behave in extreme situations” in exercises with the Belarusian military.
In the report, the children — some of whom are wearing tracksuits with Russian flags printed on their sleeves — are shown holding on to each other and covering their faces during a fire drill.
Thousands of Ukrainian children have been deported to Russia and Belarus from Russian-occupied parts of Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022. In July 2023, Russian Children’s Commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova put the figure of Ukrainian children “received” by Russia at 700,000, claiming most were accompanied by their parents or other relatives.
A study by Yale University found that between September 2022 and May 2023, over 2,400 Ukrainian children aged 6 to 17 were deported to Belarus from the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions of Ukraine, which are occupied by Russian forces.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko met with a group of deported Ukrainian kids last month, promising to “embrace these children, bring them to our home, keep them warm and make their childhood happier.”
In March 2023, the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Lvova-Belova, accusing them of overseeing the “unlawful deportation” of Ukrainian children.

Internatioal Surrogacy is human trafficking of babies and the women used to create them.
MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration has intercepted a woman who was lured into becoming a surrogate mother.
Immigration officials intercepted the 34-year-old woman at the airport on January 15 as she attempted to board a Turkish Airlines flight to Cyprus. There she was allegedly scheduled to undergo an in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedure.
Though she initially claimed to be traveling alone for leisure, immigration officers flagged her case after she inadvertently presented an IVF clinic invitation that contradicted her stated purpose of travel.
Further investigation revealed that the woman had agreed to serve as a surrogate mother for someone she met through a dating app, with promises of a P300,000 payment after giving birth.
In a statement, Immigration Commissioner Joel Viado warned that such schemes continue to proliferate, noting an increase in online advertisements for surrogacy and IVF-related services where victims are often pressured to comply with specific laboratory requirements.
"We warn females not to be tempted to agree to such schemes as this is a clear form of trafficking," Viado said.
The victim has been referred to the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking for assistance.

Brampton is looking to the federal and provincial government to address the growing number of its vulnerable international students being exploited and trafficked. On Wednesday, city officials and representatives from a number of social service organizations held a news conference that called on the two other levels of government to do more to combat what Brampton’s mayor is calling a “cancer within our society and country.” [...] Since 2020 Peel Regional Police (PRP) have charged 160 people with more than 650 human trafficking offences. Brown pointed out that so far this year local police, who have set up a dedicated human trafficking unit, conducted 110 investigations into exploitation and trafficking, compared to 127 in all of 2023.

ptjverse powerscaling really is fucking bizarre...realistically the strongest fighters by series should go lookism -> questism -> how to fight given that lookism is made up of uh near superhumans (COUGH COUGH gun Built Different park COUGH COUGH daniel Perfect Copycat park) but theoretically questism has no power limit right? like you could just keep stacking cards...and apparently full power yunjo is on par with JOHAN SEONG, who isn't even the final boss in questism he's more like the master type character. BUT if maxed out yunjo is equal to johan that implies that maxed out yunjo is almost equal to GUN ?? so in gangbuk alone there are kids on par with 1st gen/yamazakis/etc? whaaat
this makes questism johan even more insane though .. he didn't need cards for those stats he's just built like that

One thing I adore about PB is Tommy's approach towards modernity. Straddling the non-industrial past and the industrial/modern present; constantly positioning himself on the cutting edge, if not quite bleeding edge, of period/era technology. Cars, manufacturing, shipping, phones, typewriters. Medicine, psychology, and even bringing in incredibly modern concepts into politics in that era. He is constantly grabbing at the future. It's this striking characteristic in him, all the way from S1 when they install the phone in the Garrison - ~if only we knew someone else with a phone, we could call them~ - through to S6's final episode when he even wangles a seat on an airplane to get to Canada without wasting time. So uncommon at the time, but he just went: I need to get there with least time lost, and matched requirement to a borderline experimental non-consumer-available insider technology to do so.
(Sidestep: Such an interesting juxtaposition of all that, with the constant representation of the pre-industrial-era Romani threads in S6, too: Esme, the hills, the horse, the curse, the mythology, the vardo, all that slamming up against an actual cutting edge submachinegun, so ‘contemporary’ it’s actually anachronistic by a few years (if my research was right, it’s a WWII weapon that submachinegun, not to get on the symbolism, but). Arguably, Ruby in hospital having the most contemporary medical treatment available while Tommy goes walkabout to lift a curse is another notable juxtaposition.
There’s also an interesting slant of his modernity balanced against what I call his hoarding habit — the most cutting edge piece of tech or modernity in 1923 he’s still hanging onto in 1933. But yeah, even with that the juxtapositions are interesting because they can only happen if the forward reaching/modernity focus is there)
So, when I see contemporary-modern!AU takes of Tommy that are like, representing him as a relatively humdrum part of the capitalist consumer status quo, or even as a luddite who can't and won't use an Iphone, I scratch my head. I do think he’s *not* much of an innovator, but he is absolutely a considered first-gen adopter and recognises (and takes) opportunity regarding tech innovation with little concern for risk.
I have contemplated would rich modern!AU Tommy with disposable income finance startups if they pitched well: probably yes, because he takes gambles; with a personally vested interest in the innovators in the same way he had that vested interest in Bonnie. Startups as horses or boxers on a diff playing field, win some, lose some, etc.

Finally someone in office calling out international surrogacy for being a new form of human trafficking.
By Joshua Solano Nov 02, 2024, 4:13 am
THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) is sounding the alarm over the increase in human trafficking cases involving women recruited for illegal surrogacy abroad, following the repatriation of seven victims on October 23, 2024.
These women, aged 20 to 30, were recruited to work as surrogate mothers for unknown clients abroad, the BI said in a press release on Saturday, November 2, 2024.
Merriam-Webster defines a surrogate mother as a "woman who becomes pregnant by artificial insemination or by implantation of a fertilized egg created by in vitro fertilization for the purpose of carrying the fetus to term for another person or persons."
The BI said three of the victims left the country under the guise of visiting relatives but fell victim to deceptive promises of surrogacy. The remaining four had no records and likely exited through unauthorized means, the BI added.
BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said investigations reveal a scheme where traffickers recruit online, then arrange complex travel through multiple borders to avoid detection.
“The Philippines is being targeted by traffickers who lure women with surrogacy offers. We urge Filipinos to avoid these offers, as surrogacy abroad often carries serious legal risks,” Viado said.
In October, 20 Filipino women were rescued by authorities after reportedly being trafficked to become surrogate mothers. Of the 20 women, 13 were pregnant through artificial means.
The pregnant women were supposed to be transferred to another country where they would give birth. The seven others were deported by the Cambodian government over immigration law violations. BI officers also intercepted a 37-year-old woman recruited for surrogacy and headed to Georgia on October 15.
Senator Risa Hontiveros, who chairs the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality, has earlier sought the conduct of a congressional inquiry into this "new form" of a human trafficking scheme victimizing Filipino women. (JGS/SunStar Philippines)

Love to be working on applications and see that everyone wants 2-3 letters of recommendation for their position specifically (because I definitely know enough people to do that for the hundreds of applications it takes to get a job), a TB test (because let's ABSOLUTELY get the American healthcare system involved), a personal letter of introduction to the boss (because if I knew someone who knew the boss I wouldn't still be looking for work), and transcripts from my high school (which closed years ago, left all their records to a literal cult, and oh yeah I HAVE TWO COLLEGE DEGREES FROM A UNIVERSITY PEOPLE HAVE HEARD OF but no that doesn't matter it's only the fucking culty high school that counts).
I AM OLD ENOUGH TO REMEMBER THE REAGAN ADMINISTRATION. AND I HAVE A MASTER'S DEGREE.
And I guarantee you no one will read any of it.
Aaaaaaa.
