Birds of paradise <333 Them being of the same bird family is important to me... (honorary mention to the snowy owl for Kristoph) (also honorable mention to the paradise crow) (but i like them having matching ribbons (and the two birds i went with are more closely related))

I originally tried giving Klav the whole fluffy back of yellow/white feathers, but (a) he looked SO over complicated (especially compared to everyone else) and (b) I realized that no other character has back feathers, anyways. so it would make sense he does not either.

The ribbon-tails are similar to Apollo and Trucy's hearts: they both inherit this feature from one of their parents. (One parent is a stephanie's astrapia, one is a lesser bird-of-paradise). (Also of note: the lesser bird-of-paradise also has two long wire plumes, if you look closely)

Tails: (Klav's is basically a ribbon-tailed astrapia's tail btw.) Because the tail is such a notable feature of these species, I'm including it, though they also come from the base of the wing (though I'll probably just draw them as essentially tails in the future), and are much shorter than they would be, were they proportional.

i got very lazy on the individual introduction sheets they're so bad 😭😭 specifically klavier pls just imagine he and his wings look better there 🙏🙏🙏 LOL i hope the other drawings make up for it !! >:3

thinking about klavier gavin again because i saw someone say that the fact that he's the only prosecutor in the series who wants to find the truth and isn't insanely obsessed with winning like the other prosecutors makes him really boring

and i understand it to some extent when comparing him to other prosecutors but... Klavier Gavin??? BORING????

after playing aa4 i was OBSESSED with klavier gavin and the untouched potential of this guy

he loses his best friend/bandmate, his brother AND his mentor in the span of like a year?? i think??? which is INSANE.

there's something very tragic about klavier, a person who values finding the truth above all else, finding out that two of the people closest to him betrayed his trust and lied to him and used him for their own means AND ARE MURDERERS.

and then his mentor, a person who taught that seeking the truth is what a lawyer should do, gets murdered by a person who believes that winning in trials is the most important thing above all else WHICH IS THE SAME EXACT THING THAT KRISTOPH VALUED AS WELL !!!

this core belief of finding out the truth that klavier has, leads him to finding out about the things that daryan and kristoph did, and even though they are important to him, people he CARES about, he continues to work with apollo to see that justice is served.

and the fact that we don't get to see anything of klavier getting any closure after the events of aa4 makes me insane

we never get to see much of klavier's feelings on what happened or him fully processing the events of aa4 and that one case in aa5 and it makes me soooo upset. i wish he got more than that little cameo in aa5 and that one tiny flashback appearance in aa6.

in an alternate universe, aa4 got a true sequel that fully explored klavier's character, as well as phoenix's, klavier's, AND apollo's relationship with kristoph, and klavier's relationship with phoenix post-aa4, and also a more thought out? (for the lack of a better word) backstory for apollo, and an exploration of the jury system, and a game that ACTUALLY built upon the foundation that aa4 laid out.

and i am forever upset that we are not in that alternate universe.

the Klavier-Edgeworth parallels of I Don't Care How You Feel, the Truth Is the Only Thing That Matters™ are very interesting, but the Klavier-Phoenix parallels of nothing bad has ever affected me in my life idk what you're talking about that didn't mean anything I'm not talking about it I'm not thinking about it I'm not acknowledging it they may not be dead but they're dead to me and that's how I like it I'm never looking at them again because they're dead they're gone they're a ghost and this is a perfectly healthy way to live look at me I'm thriving I'm thriving I'm thriving are also very interesting, do you get what I'm saying.

Gavin was sprawled out on the couch, a cigarette wedged between his lips, the hundredth of the hour, as he waited for David to arrive. His mind was going a million miles a second, not even the dull pleasure of nicotine could slow it down or muffle it.

How the fuck were they supposed to fix this? Gavin was nearly ready to give up. This was too much fucking work for a relationship that feels like it's doomed to fail. Maybe that mind set is what sets him up for failure every time.

The sound of his front door opening brought him back. He sat up. "Hey."

David got ready for once before showing up. He put in gum and combed his hair, put on his nice jacket and more expensive cologne.

There wasn't any reason for him to be nervous. It was just Gavin, after all. Well. No, no. Don't think like that. That's the reason their relationship went to shit. Maybe it's always been shit.

He blinked back at Gavin. His throat clenched in order to hold down the acidic bile that was rising and ripping through his throat. This couldn't be how they ended. Not like this.

The sight of his lover cradling a cigarette in his lips so gently sent a jolt of shame through his body as the sudden need for a cigarette overtook his brain. Hot tears threatened to join in his ducts, but he pushed them away.

"... Hi." David said when he was positive it wouldn't end in tears. He couldn't cry and he couldn't blow up. Those were his rules.

Gavin had actually been enjoying himself tonight. He and Ishika had grabbed dinner at a Thai place in Diamond Plaza before heading back to his apartment for drinks. They still hadn't told anyone they were seeing each other, but he wasn't rushing things. With his job for the Castenadas and her family connections, keeping things quiet made sense for now. The knock at his door surprised him. His security system should have alerted him to anyone approaching. When he opened it, his stomach dropped. His mother stood there, Bible in hand, wearing that same floral dress she'd owned since his high school graduation.

"Gavin Scott! What a blessing to see you!" His mother pulled him into a hug that smelled like the same perfume she'd worn his entire life. "I caught an early flight. The church prayer group pooled their miles."

"Mom ... you should've called first." His eyes darted back to where Ishika sat on his couch, now visible through the open door.

His mother's smile froze when she spotted Ishika. "Oh. I didn't realize you had company." The way she said 'company' made it sound like something illicit.

"This is my friend Ishika. We work together sometimes." The lie came automatically; he didn't know how else to introduce her.

"Well, any friend of Gavin's is welcome." His mother's South Carolina politeness kicked in even as her eyes narrowed suspiciously. "I was hoping we could spend some time together. Perhaps study some Scripture? I brought your father's Bible."

In that moment, Gavin pictured his childhood. Sunday mornings on wooden pews while dreaming of comic books and basketball. Some things never changed. "Mom ... I have plans tonight."

"I understand." She didn't understand. "The Lord says there's a time for everything. I'll just get settled at my hotel and pray for your guidance. And your friend's, of course."

Her smile didn't reach her eyes as she studied Ishika once more.

Akash stood outside the Devil’s Junction courthouse, the faint bite of winter still clinging to the evening air as he rolled his shoulders, trying to shake off the weight of the day. He had spent hours in a conference room dissecting depositions, yet his mind kept circling back to the fire at the casino.

It had been days now, but the scent of smoke still seemed to cling to the edges of his memory, the glow of flames against the night a sight he wouldn’t forget anytime soon. Places like that didn’t just go up in flames by accident—especially not in this town. Too many people with too much to lose, too many hands pulling strings in the dark. Akash had spent enough time in courtrooms and backrooms alike to know when something didn’t add up.

Stuffing his hands into the pockets of his coat, he glanced toward the diner down the street, debating whether he had it in him to sit with his own thoughts over a cup of coffee. Maybe company would be better—someone who wouldn’t try to dance around the obvious.

He pulled out his phone, firing off a quick text to Gavin.

"Tell me you’re not still working. I need a break from arguing with idiots all day. You up for a drink? Or do I have to lure you out with the promise of a real conversation?"
