It was early- too early for Alfie when he heard a knock on his door. He groaned and rolled over, hugging his pillow to his face and then hearing the knock again he sighed and got out of bed. He’d taken to sleeping nude, so he grabbed a pair of pants on the way to the door, jumping slightly ad he adjusted and then took the stairs down to the front door. “I’m coming!” he called as he stumbled down the stairs and when he was finally there he ran a hand through his messy hair and opened the door. “Shop doesn’t open till ten on weekends,” he said as he opened the door and then paused. Well, he definitely wasn’t expecting to see Daisy on his doorstep. And Daisy with food. “Uh, hey,” he said slowly as he rubbed his face “Um, you know Lily’s not... Here... Yeah?” he asked with a slight frown.

Sometimes Violet wondered if coming to the island was a mistake- sure she got to see Lily, and Lily’s husband, and she had reconnected with Scott, which was wonderful, and she had Wednesday, and she was the top of her class in several of her classes because of her strong work ethic, but it seemed with the good came one very big bad. Her relationship with Daisy, which had never been particularly strong, was just getting worse. Violet would own up to her own shortcomings when it came to that, she knew that she had always pushed her sisters away when she was younger, especially after their father’s death; but it really felt like things had come to a head in the past few months. 

So seeing Daisy, it wasn’t one of her top priorities right now- so of course, while she was taking Wednesday on a walk through the shopping area, sipping her tea and listening to a podcast, of course, she’d see Daisy walking right towards her. She sighed deeply as Wednesday let out a bar and started wagging her tail, which, to the little dog was really a full body wiggle as she pulled towards Daisy. Way to make things weird Wednesday. She considered just scooping up the dog and walking away, but Daisy had obviously seen them, so she pulled her phone out of her pocket to pause her podcast, and then shoot Scott a quick ‘just so you know I ran into my sister’ text, so if she got into trouble again, he’d know why he had to come bail her out of trouble. 

“Hey,” was all Violet had to say as the two sisters approached, and Wednesday jumped on Daisy’s legs for attention. “Wednesday, no jumping,” she’d been trying to teach the dog that, but Pomeranians were sure stubborn.

Note: This is merely a pitch introduction post. My main project remains Such Happy Campers. I have no title in mind for this IF (suggestions are welcome), although I am very passionate about the idea and will work on it on the side while I write SHC.

You are... or were one of the most famous yet mysterious characters in the 21st century pop-rock scene. 

It all started when you discovered your love for singing during an extended stay at a psychiatric hospital as a teen. Music became your motivator, and from then on, you knew the stage was where you belonged. Your friends agreed… and that is how your band came to be. After years of practice in your friend’s mother’s garage and cheap gigs at dingy bars, your journey to the top begins abruptly when you team up with a skilled manager.

It's a meteoric rise— until it isn’t. 

And now, a decade after your band has withdrawn from the public eye, you’ve accepted an interview by the acclaimed Groove Magazine. You and your former band members have agreed to give them the truth, the whole truth; as ugly as that might be. 

Follow the story of your band’s rise to fame (and eventual fall from grace)

Stevie McLaughlin, bassist (f) — “I suppose I was the sanest one in that bunch.”

She’s one of your oldest friends, and if you follow the clanking chain of cause and effect all the way back to the beginning, it is her you have to thank for your entire career. The band was her idea, after all. She’s level-headed, composed, and always there to talk you down when you need her. Sometimes, she acts more as your retainer than anything else…

Paul/Paulette Zima, lead singer & saxophonist (f/m selectable, trans) — “Trying to figure out where you know me from?”

Your band’s brand-new, second lead singer. Your manager says they’re going to give your music the kick it needs, that they’re the one missing ingredient to your success. You’re not entirely sure if you agree. Worse yet, you happen to know this person, and your time together didn’t end on a favorable note. They’re part of a past you would much rather forget. 

Angel Monsanto, guitarist (m) — “I was always going to make it big, with or without those guys. Only, I… I really wanted it to be with them.”

Your crazy but good-hearted guitarist. His passion for music borders on obsession, and he will stop at nothing to make a name for your band. Sadly, he’s very much of the conviction that all publicity is good publicity, which has encouraged him to pull some very questionable stunts in the past. 

Lincoln Saunders, groupie?? (f/m selectable) — “What can I say, I loved them. When they first walked out onto that stage, it felt like my heart was going to explode.”

Calling Lincoln a fan would be an understatement. Fanatic is more like it. You remember seeing them at your very first show, and you’ve continued to spot them at every venue you’ve played at since. You don’t know anything about them, and perhaps changing that would be a very bad idea. But maybe you still want to.

Others:

Fatima Shah (f), drummer — “I’m pretty sure they tried to make me disappear with their fog machine.”

After things didn’t work out with your original drummer, Fatima saved the day. She’s a sweetheart to you, but from what you’ve heard, she can be kind of a terrible person. Maybe it’s best to stay a little wary of her.

Kalena Graham (f), manager — “The first time I saw them… well, they kind of sucked. But I knew, I just knew, that they had what it takes to suck on an international level.”

Your band’s manager. You can’t believe how lucky you were to have caught her attention. She’s experienced, driven, well-regarded in the industry and… kind of mean.

Simon Young (m), reporter — “Start at the beginning. And then, don’t stop.”

The guy conducting the interview for Groove Magazine. He’s nice enough, if a little starstruck. It seems he has been waiting a long time for this.

my thoughts on certain characters being the 'minister'

Peter Lukas - I think it's unlikely bc no jonah to make a wager with to get him off the boat so he's probably still at sea buutt if it was him think it would funny bc he'd definitely have 'disappeared' Collin just to not deal with him

Simon Fairchild - he wouldn't give a shit like we saw him with the extinction stuff he'd just not care about what the OIAR is doing at all and I think that would be funny

Annabelle Cane - that would be verryy plot relevant and also probably the same annabelle Cane from tma bc she said she'd either go with the fears or die and so far as I can remember they said there was no sign of her I would love a return of annabel mainly just bc I love her

Sasha James - more likely to be the new IT person but also I desperately just want sasha to be alive and well I also think she'd be very good at her job we knew she would have made a good archivist but an actual one rather than eldritch horror one so maybe she's a librarian somewhere completely separate

Tim Stoker - I strongly believe he wouldn't take it seriously and would flirt with every one and make jokes about the computers looking worse for wears until he hears about collin and just makes jokes about collin

Danny Stoker - would be funny but would also mean Tim is not linked to the supernatural at all bc he only got involved after Danny's death so if Danny's fine so is Tim and I need Tim to be ok also I think it would be a fun link without them just having the same cast as tma

Elias Buchard (the real one) - would imply gwen is a nepo baby which would be really funny to see them interact also wonder how jonah would feel about it also he was a stoner so I don't think he'd be good at his job and this would be very funny

Jurgen leitner - he's probably dead but I think this would be fun and we don't know if he even had his library in this world but if he did and then became the minister of the oiar that's a bad way to hide and I think he'd die pretty quickly

Daisy Tonner - she would penalise them for everything she'd be so strict on them and probably aggressive I also think its unlikely to be her she'd hate the bureaucracy and would probably empathise with collins solution to their problems

someone new - the fandom reaction would be funny as fuck like we've spent all this time theorising and guessing and then it's no one we've ever heard of before I just think it would be a funny way to throw off everyone

Alfie was sore, sore and tired and sunburnt and so weak- so when the guards came to collect his group from the cells again, he groaned, sure they were in for another round, and when they came, he straightened his back and squared his shoulders, ready to take whatever punishment he had to take. What he wasn’t expecting though- was to get out to the quad and see a different group made up of masters, slaves, and claimed slaves. His eyes danced over the naked bodies, seeing people he recognized, he knew, tied and bound, however it wasn’t until he stopped walking that he realized he had no control over his movements. It was a sick feeling, and the feeling got even worse when he looked down and realized the bound and gagged woman at his feet was Daisy. Daisy, his sister in law. He looked away from her body and wanted to say something- anything, to promise he wouldn’t hurt her, but he couldn’t, the words wouldn’t come out. Instead, his hand, on it’s own accord, wrapped around a leather handle. He looked over at it, a leather flogger was in his hand, and without his consent, he brought his arm up and then down over poor Daisy’s body, leaving a number of red welts on her skin. Oh god- he was going to be sick.

Violet knew this conversation had to happen, but she wasn’t looking forward to it. It was going to be messy and uncomfortable, and probably emotional- all things Violet hated, but it wasn’t fair to not have the conversation. So, she had texted Daisy and invited her to get a cup of coffee, and she waited, stirring the steaming cup of coffee while she waited. She sipped it and sighed softly before ripping at the muffin she’d also ordered and popped it into her mouth, sure the whole slavery thing sucked, but damn the food was good here. 

She perked up when she saw her sister walking towards the small outdoor table she’d gotten and she waved at her. “Hey,” she said, trying to get her eldest sister’s attention. She stood up and knowing Daisy would expect it offered a hug. “I ordered you a muffin and a tea- I hope that’s good for you?” she asked.
