Villainous Theory: Dark Phantom

This theory compiles all the information of Dark Phantom we have so far, his parents, his relationship with Ghoul, his father, and other basic info.

Flug’s Notes About Dark Phantom

So according to Flug's Journal Notes, he mentioned Dark Phantom is the spoiled son of the original Dark Phantom's legacy and also a possible hint to his crush on Demencia (refer to this theory for more elaboration)

Name: Ezequiel Aterborn VI Classification: Member Status: Ally Abilities: None Notes: Spoiled son heir to his father's legacy: the Original Dark Phantom. (Demencia's Notes) Ugh, this guy is very awkward. In all the meetings that I meet him he tries to talk to me and I always end up hitting him in the face.

Dark Phantom's Black Hat Organization Flie

According to his Black Hat Organization File, he has a contract with Black Hat Organization requesting them to create an evil plan to destroy his Arch-Nemesis, Vanity Bolt, who has been obstructing him from stealing The Golht stone, a gem can decapitate your enemies but at a cost.

Dark Phantom ‘s P.E.A.C.E. File

Some highlights from file are:

-> Dr Phantom's full name is Ezequiel Aterborn VI but his nickname or he is known as Zeke

-> As Mentioned in Flug’s notes, his father is The Original Dark Phantom, from Zeke’s full name we can conclude that his father’s name is Ezequiel Aterborn V.

-> Additionally, from the word “original” referring to Dark Phantom Sr, we can conclude that although there are six generations of Aterborns' with the same name, Dark Phantom’s dad is the only other Dark Phantom in the family before his son.

-> His mother’s name is Mia Aterborn and has the title of Lady Phantasm

-> He (and possibly both of his parents) race is a Ganae.

-> He is a Type 2 Villain.

-> As mentioned in Flug’s journal notes Dark Phantom is the heir to his father’s legacy and this file add’s onto this, mentioning that he is the heir to the Dark Phantom cloak.

-> He is an underground criminal gang leader which may refer to him being the Prince of Noctis (will explain more below), but P.E.A.C.E. lists him as a gang leader because Noctis is a hidden city of Villains, thought to be a myth to heroes (as shown in the Shrunken Rescue comic)

-> Some distinguishable features mentioned are that he has no ears and is extremely loud.

-> An example can be seen when he was yelling at SunBlast for the destruction of his lair and blaming him for the capture of his friend Penumbra.

-> Additionally its also mentioned that he is born in the city of Saint Maroni and not Noctis perhaps that was where his lair was located.

Who is Dark Phantom Sr.

My theory is that after Dark Phantom Sr. bequeathed his cloak and title of “Dark Phantom” to his son, he focused all of his time ruling Noctis as their King.

This evidence is supported by an Instagrim profile named darkphantomking in Episode 1, which I assumed belong to Dark Phantom’s father who commented “HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! WORKED FOR ME” when Penumbra wanted to make a deal with Black Hat Organization to deal with SunBlast.

We can also conclude from this that Dark Phantom is the Prince of Noctis.

I believe that it can’t be Dark Phantom Jr. who sold his soul because in Episode 6 when Ghoul suggested that they should get rid of Miss Heed through Black Hat Organization’s Hero Extermination Service, Dark Phantom responded that “he owes Black Hat too much” not that he already soul his soul, which required for the service’s payment.

So we can conclude from this unlike his son, that Dark Phantom Sr. sold his soul to BlackHat to deal with his own Arch-Nemesis (probably when he was still using the Dark Phantom cloak and before he became king),

However Dark Phantom Jr. only contracted Black Hat Organization to come up with plans to destroy his Arch-Nemesis, Vanity Bolt but never asked them to handle it personally through their Hero Extermination Service. (Perhaps this will benefit him later on )

However he is in debt in another way to Black Hat Organization because of his over reliance on their services as he mentioned that he doesn't have to lift a finger because of Black Hat Organization indicating that he is lazy and spoilt.

As well as his failure to succeed as a Villain and defeating his Arch-Nemesis because as mentioned in this orientation video, although BlackHat provides the service and products, the success depends on the competency of the Villains (another reason might be because he is trying to court Demencia.)

How Dark Phantom is Viewed by His Father and the Other Citizens of Noctis

As shown here when the P.E.A.C.E. Hero, Cricket managed to infiltrate Noctis, Dark Phantom’s reaction was that “his dad was going to kill him” and the citizens are quick to assume that it was Dark Phantom’s fault that this happened.

With these 2 evidences and earlier I theorised Dark Phantom Jr. wasn't able to to live up to his father's legacy after he inherited his cloak, and is instead living off his father's success, position, power, and fame (as mentioned earlier in Flug’s notes he refers to him as “spoilt”.)

It also shows that he often causes a lot of trouble in the city and is often seen as a screw up to the other Villains and his father, who probably gets angry and scolds him often at him from his mess-ups.

I believe Dark Phantom Sr. would also be angry and disappointed at his son for wasting his money by squandering his inheritance for, as mentioned above, being lazy and over relying on BHO's services, failing to deal with his Arch-Nemesis (instead of just using the Hero Extermination Service like he did) and for courting Demencia, while at the same time causing unnecessary problems in the city and unable to live up to his name and perform his Dark Phantom and prince duties perfectly.

Dark Phantom’s Relationship with Ghoul

(Placing a summary here and will elaborate further in another post about Ghoul and link it here as I ran out of space for photos 😅. But you can refer to Episode 6, Episode 3 and The Shrunken Rescue comic Part 6 and Part 7 for reference)

According to this, Ghoul is the right man henchman of Dark Phantom.

Ghoul is Dark Phantom’s voice of reason and the more logical of the two and he’s calm temperament balances out Dark Phantom’s loud temperament.

Dark Phantom also relies on Ghoul for help, when Cricket came to Noctis, and also willing to stand and fight while Dark Phantom appeared scared making me believe that Ghoul is the braver of the two and his henchmen is the one to clean his boss's messes.

Ghoul cares about his boss as shown in Episode 6, he asked him if he was alright when he fell running away from Miss Heed's simps and offered his hand to help and was worried when he could not hear him when he was dialing BHO's.

He also referred to him as “Sir” which indicates that he respects him.

Both of them seem to enjoy each other’s company and consider each other as friends outside of work, as you can see them genuinely having fun hanging out watching the wrestling match in Episode 3.

And although Ghoul was mind controlled by Miss Heed to sell his soul for a “Hero Extermination Service”, based on other interactions and that it was his idea to call BHO in the first place I believe he would have soul his soul on behalf of Dark Phantom when his boss said he owed Black Hat too much and can’t give anymore. Indicating that he is extremely loyal to Dark Phantom.

Sobre Instagrim y la Black Web

Hace poco, Charly le respondió a un usuario que le habló sobre el Instagrim.

El sujeto le contó sobre Sunblast y su relación con Penumbra, mencionando el Instagrim de la villana.

Como era de esperarse, Charly no pudo encontrar el Instagrim de Penumbra, es más, no cree en la posibilidad de un villano teniendo redes sociales.

Sabemos perfectamente que los villanos sí tienen redes sociales. Lo que ocurre aquí es bastante obvio.

Como nosotros ya suponíamos, las personas normales, por lo general, no pueden acceder al Instagrim porque el Instagrim está dentro de la Black Web.

Lo que nosotros sabemos de la Black Web proviene de la Bitácora escrita por la agente Magician en Podemos Bailar en el 2019:

La Black Web es “una red oculta para villanos, caza recompensas y otros seres desagradables”. 

Nuestro primer vistazo a la Black Web fue, claro, en el piloto de la serie por medio de Instagrim. Ahí logramos notar a usuarios que conocemos como Lady Naga, Mawrasite, Aldo Maldonado y Dark Phantom. Y Miss Heed también está por ahí, ya saben, ella solía estudiar en la Academia Black Hat, así que seguro conservó la clave para entrar a la Black Web.

Instagrim es una red para villanos, ocultistas y fanáticos de Black Hat. Así que el hecho de que Charly no pueda encontrarlo es porque ella no forma parte del mundo de la villanía.

Sin embargo no significa que ella, o cualquier persona normal que se lo propusiese, no pudiera encontrarlo. Es sólo que Charly no supo dónde buscar el Instagrim, ella no buscó en la Black Web. Pero Charly ha entrado a la Black Web antes, como vemos en su publicación acerca de la Caja Misteriosa:

Por supuesto que de manera ordinaria a nadie se le ocurriría buscar en la Black Web, porque como Charly menciona, es difícil de encontrar y es peligroso. Básicamente es la Deep Web en el universo de Villainous. Instagrim se encuentra oculta en esta red, o al menos las redes sociales de los villanos y sectarios lo están.

Entonces, a menos de que Charly sepa dónde buscar (la Black Web), jamás encontrará el Instagrim de Penumbra.

Este caso nos confirma algo que era muy evidente:

La razón por la que, a pesar de que Penumbra se la pasaba publicando fotos, ningún héroe y ninguna persona común en Atreno sabía que Sunblast estaba vivo es porque el Instagrim de Penumbra no es público para personas normales.

Villainous Observation/Theory: InstaFeed and Instagrim

(Note: This theory is an add on and inspired by the theory created by gabygirl1234)

There are two versions of Instagram in Villainous - InstaFeed and Instagrim

The general public and heroes use InstaFeed, while the Villains use Instagrim.

In Episode 6 Miss Heed is shown to have an InstaFeed account instead of an Instagram account.

And her @ name is also @MISS_HEED_ OFFICIAL instead of @MISS_HEED, as shown in her real life actual Instagram link (https://www.instagram.com/miss_heed/)

However, MISS_HEED_OFFICAL is her Instagram Display Name

So the Instagram account we see in real life is a little bit different than what we see in the Villainous show.

In Villainous, Penumbra, other Villains, and The Men Without Hats, etc. are shown to be using Instagrim.

However unlike InstaFeed, Instagrim is a Black Web, the Villainous version of Dark Web/Deep Web, website which is not available to the general public and can only be accessed by Villains and in special cases like the Men Without Hats who can hack and have installed programs and software to avoid tracking and being doxxed. (see below)

This is supported by the post in CreepyCharly when a user said you can see that SunBlast is alive on Penumbra’s Instagrim account, but CreepyCharly replies that she could not access it and jokingly added that she doesn’t believe that Villains have social media.

(Also, in the comment section in the image above, a verified account with the name @MISS_HEED_OFFICIAL is seen commenting a bot like comment: “FOLLOW ME”, Miss Heed being a former Villain and student in Black Hat Institution, she probably was able to have knowledge on how to access the Black Web, and perhaps link it to her current InstaFeed account)

As regular citizens like CreepyCharly can’t access it I agree with gabygirl123 ‘s post that Instagrim is also a part of the Black Web as it follows the. Same principal as the BHO website, as mentioned below, “it is hidden in what villains call the "Black Web", a hidden network for villains, bounty hunters, and other unsavory beings.”

Eventually however, Charly was able to access the black web to buy a mystery box, however as mentioned below, the Black Web is a dangerous place with dangerous people, so she had to install the necessary programmes to avoid being tracked and doxxed.
