so yknow how gabriel, after having his light ripped out and losing to v1 for a second time goes to the moon to reflect?
the moon, in Dante's inferno, is the furthest celestial circle from God, so yeah whatever thats a metaphor for him distancing himself from heaven we all know that
but the moon, in ludovico ariosto's orlando furioso, is also the place where Man's rationality goes, or in general where lost things are. gabriel goes to the moon and finally "acquires consciousness" of the whole situation and realizes God is actually not there to assist heaven anymore, he gets his mind and rationality back and is finally able to see things clearly
