::just a bit of whump to console innerme::

“First one to reach the bottom buys ice cream!”

All of the factory employees had been safely evacuated, combustible gasses vented and no longer exploding, minor fires extinguished. Two IR operatives, poised at the top of a seven level open metal staircase, eyed each other. They had just completed a final floor by floor sweep to make certain no one had been left behind.

The rescue was in final stages and everybody was tired, grimy, sweaty and hot.

Did somebody say ice cream?

“Is your back up to it?”

The challenger rolled his eyes. “Yep. Question is, are you?” he teased.

“What’s that supposed to mean?” An uplifting tug at one corner of his lips softened the baritone growl of the other.

“You’re strongest, bro, we all know that. But I’m strong, too, AND fast!”

“Mint chocolate chip?”

“Pecan brownie salted caramel drizzle.”

“Winner’s pick.”

“Deal. Five … four … three … two … one …”

“Thunderbirds are Go!” Powerful leg muscles bunched and pushed off the edge of the floor. Size 11 boots hit the grid of metal that formed the first landing with a resounding thud.

“Hey, no fair!” A blue blur rocketed down the stairs in hot pursuit.

Boots hit the next step down from the metal grid. A sudden snap was followed by an eerie groaning sound. The entire staircase below the first landing separated and dropped to the concrete seven levels below.

Or my own ego that has surpassed me

I have no energy towards my enemy

For my biggest fear is not the inner me

But the me I wish to be

I have so much more to say

But I think that’s all for today

Life has an interesting way of pushing us into our next chapter. I'm learning to embrace everything that forms that "push" because without it I probably would never move. So here's to pain and healing. Being scared and doing it anyway. Being uncomfortable but never stopping. Being vulnerable but using wisdom, making mistakes and walking like I've learned my lesson. Sleepless nights but RESTFUL ones too, especially after crying over a bowl of butter pecan ice cream lol. It's all worth it for a better ME! 🥂💪🏾🙏🏾👌🏾

Chissà perché c’è chi è convinto che ci si ama per completarsi, per avere quel amore mancato da se stesso. Chi pensa che non si può amare se prima non si è apposto con se stesso.
