Hello! Thank you for getting in touch so swiftly. I wasn't much expecting anything to come of my call post, so to see any response at all is wonderful. It looks like you have a great project underway :).
Unfortunately, I'm not much of a savanaclaw fan; so I've never drawn any of them, but I'll certainly gauge my skills over the upcoming week to see if it'd be worth applying for an artist position or not :). You may get some kind of correspondence from me when it comes to the moderator position too, if I so feel I can fill the requirements set.
I'll be sure to keep an eye on the zine regardless. I'm sure it's going to come out fantastic. I urge anyone who comes across this in the tags to also go show some love to the campagin over at the afformentioned @princes-uprising ! These folks seem lovely to work with.

Why on earth always my favourite shows get screwed up every time?? Why??
So, if you haven't noticed as of yet already or even don't know what has happened, then after reading the below article, you will realise why I have put this question as a Title.
I cannot believe that, this is frequently happening to this very day.
So, one of the concept artist of Star Trek: Prodigy, Oliver Beck, just claimed that his artwork, which was shown in the S1E10, "A Moral Star: Part 2", was stolen by the makers of the upcoming Bollywood movie, 'Kalki 2898 AD', Vyjayanthi Movies, for their logo in the Trailer of the movie. This was happened after South Korean Artist, Sung Choi, claimed that his artwork was also stolen in the trailer, without their permissions or Giving them the credits.
Like, Seriously!! This Screwing up of ST: Prodigy is just unbearable. Like, C'mon!! First, The Money Mafias, just forced to cancel and wipe ST: Prodigy out of existence, until Netflix Saved it. Then, Lucasfilms and Disney, stole the plot of Star Trek: Prodigy into their upcoming Star Wars animated series, Skeleton Crew, and now This Art Theft by the upcoming Indian Movie!! They are thinking like, 'Star Trek: Prodigy' is no longer a Thing anymore rather than an open-source material, after what Nickelodeon and Paramount Canceled and tried to remove it.
And I am really sorry as an Indian Person. Because, ST: Prodigy don't deserve this to be like screwed up everytime. Bollywood has a history of stealing things that they stole and no one behind the scenes gives any credits to the original artists they stole from. Sometimes, I feel ashamed that this had happened. As I support Originality, I think it has to be said rather than just not tell anyone to obscurity. While I am insanely proud of my fellow Indian artists at Mikros Animation in Bangalore, who are involved in ST: Prodigy, I am equally ashamed that this happened. Also, the Emmy-award winning Art director of ST: Prodigy, Alessandro Taini, worked as a Concept Artist for Bollywood film, "Brahmastra: Part One - Shiva". If he knows what happens on Bollywood behind the scenes in reality, then he would be discouraged altogether. There should be a Global Law about Art Theft and Copyrights. Seriously!!
ST: Prodigy, as well as other good quality animated shows and movies, should not deserve to get art-theft like that.
And to Oliver Beck, and Sung Choi, on behalf of Indians, I am really really Sorry that this happened.
I hope that somehow, things will change for the better. I will try to contact Hageman Brothers and @aaronwaltke as well about this incident happened recently.
But this is the harsh reality of Animation as an Artistic Media we live in, ladies and gentlemen.
And I have nothing to say more.
So, I will see you on 1st July when S2 releases on Netflix. I am trying to renew Netflix ASAP. So, wish me luck.

A new take on Sunflowers!
(AU: No Spider-man powers. Hobie is a famous Punk Star/model/celebrity. He happens to go to an art opening and fell in love with the works and the artist)
"Ehhh!" Miles look at the bouquet of flowers and boxes of expensive gifts. He didn't even settle in his new studio apartment, he saw so many gifts being delivered to him. It was already the next day after the crazy party. Checking on the message card, "To my Sunflower, XOXOXOX, Hobie. 💜🌻🤘🏿"
He felt so flustered that he took the bouquets of flowers in his arms taking a big sniff. "They smell so good." He hums feeling his cheeks warm. The art opening did filled him with surprises, he didn't think he would catch a certain celebrity eyes.
-Last Night-
"Yes. Yes. We're heading there, now." The twenty seven year old punker slouches in the limo being bored by his assistant making calls to their manager. He rolled his eyes, so this is what being famous is like. The constant meet and greets, events, and talkshows. Ugh, the popularity didn't seem to stop because of his own Controversy nature, being chaotic to break anything.
The fans love that from him. His bandmates are meeting him at this art opening he so badly wanted to go. It was a refresher to find something that's his interest, but his agency being on his ass was pissing him off. He wanted freedom! To enjoy his time with his friends.
Now, his assistant is here being observant because the last time he was left alone, he had brawl with some jackass at a bar.
Figures...
He lit up his cigarette being annoyed, a good burn of nicotine will help him. "You're supposed to quit smoking." His assistant said being on her laptop.
"Come on, Mindy. I've been stressed all the damn time. I need this." He inhale being annoyed. "Fuck quitting."
"Then you have to deal with Bruce."
"Fuck him, too."
Mindy sighs before the limo stopped at the gallery called, "New Verse!" It's own by a famous man, who believes in contemporary arts for the diversity artists. Right now, there's three arts presenting their worsts that are upcoming to the art field.
Young BIPOC artists that were born and bred in New York City. Hobie honestly saw one painting on the pamphlet from invite from his good friend, Pavtri. A funny actor that changed the game by his bubbly adorable personality, his girlfriend is one of the artists. Yet, the punker wasn't focus on her inspirational Indian American women with abstract strokes and figures.
Oh no, he's eyes was curious when he saw a powerful, very old school graffiti style with a modern take of using media with bright bold colors and insane texts. The handwritten calligraphy had rough ink with profound words like slurs, then a beautiful black man figure crying. Tears all colorful with small texts inside. So many going all at once that he wanted to see in person. The piece had the sizes about 300 inches by four hundred inches on canvas mounted on wall. He had to see it.
When the limo parked, "We're here." His assistant said.
Hobie got out of the car seeing paparazzis already there to take photos of him.
Great, these fucking leeches
He wore his latest high end outfit; ripped tight black skinny jeans with patches by Farfetched brand, accessories like chains dripping to the side of hips. He wore expensive Prada Monolith and re-nylon black boots, and red laces. A Sex Pistol t-shirt personally shredded, Two belts around his waist, one he's actually wearing on his jeans but the other more for fashion that is slanted to the side. Then his Celine black leather jacket with his own custom touches having spikes and paint on it. His own rebellious style. Then tons of jewelry on him; bracelets from his wrists, necklaces, and diamonds piercings. All top with a very masculine cologne by Tom Ford.
His wicks bounces by every step of his heavy boots as he got out already having his black shades on to cover his eyes. He saw some of the fans waiting for him. "OH MY GAWD, IT'S HIM! HOBIE! HOBIE! WE LOVE YOU!"
"HEY, HOBIE COME LOOK OVER HERE!"
Hobie quickly walks away with a scowl, he tries hard not to ruin his black lipstick by Fenty. All this work to look good and these paparazzis never leave him alone!
Life as a Star
When he finally enters the gallery, he saw a group of body guards being there. It seems there was a lot of famous celebrities around, too.
Great...
He should've known Pavtri would invite more people for his girlfriend. His assistant said, "Oh wow, you can network with these other celebrities. There's Peni Parks, I heard she is famous for her robotics in Japan. Her company release the latest Androids."
"Huh, so we're about to get controlled by the government." Hobie snorted.
"Come on, Hobie. Not this again."
"It's true." He took off his shades to find other familiar faces like Miguel O'Hara, the CEO of Alchemax with a teenage girl wearing a black dress having to look at a painting. A famous man like that likes art? Huh, who knew.
Then Jess Drew, a popular lawyer never losing a case and a very expensive one at that. Hobie had follow her cases, seeing how she went to trial about defamation of character to a famous celebrity.
Petra, a famous three gold Olympic Athlete, she had one her titanium prosthetic leg wearing ankle pants with loafers and tight beige sweater. Her brown pixie hair cut had a shave to the left side showing off her pierced ears.
Then Ben Riley, a famous skater. Noir-
Aye, no way he's here!
Noir is a very popular contemporary artist that causes many controversy on society's politics. One of the most respected activists, too. He would shred his own work in front of auction if he doesn't like the buyer. The man stays hidden with his black mask. Hobie respected that man, too bad his works are out of his price range, if he could get his hands on it.
One popular piece was a Rubik's cube that he presented in a gallery then mix it all up. Then place it on a white pedestal. The price of that work started off two billion.
Bonkers, Hobie knows. But that piece started a massive wave for the hidden artists. Noir seems to know Petra and Ben.
Interesting...
He noticed a popular street artist, activist, and poet name Zero. Kaine, a famous game streamer on Twitch. Kitty, a popular influencer. Peter Parker, a famous American Actor.
So many blokes here!
"Oh, look there's Gwen!" She spotted a familiar Pop Punk singer standing with her own female band, which is her girlfriend drummer, Margo and Silk, a girl who plays the guitar.
"Aye," Hobie was about to go over until, he stops when his eyes caught the art piece he been yearning to see. When he enters the room to find more works.
His eyes on the large piece, he took in every single detailed. "Mindy, luv. Can you please give me wine?"
"Sure thing, Hobie." She went out of the room to leave him to admire the works.
Hobie saw the artists name and description, "A cry for Help! By Miles G. Morales..." He read seeing the materials being made by spray paint, acrylic paint and other stuff. He didn't want to read anymore, so he can try to figure out the meaning of the work.
Taking a closer look, he saw details of Brooklyn, police brutality, drugs, and struggle. Then a light white out line of a man and woman with child that is very hard to see. If you're not paying attention, a person would think it's a decorative add-on.. Then more Corporate brands, then drug names, and money prices. The background of blue shading with imagery of activism. So many things going on that represented the struggle for black people, it touched Hobie. Especially the image of the black man crying.
What surprised him is the soft touch up to imply make up, the figure had a smudge light lip gloss and glittery eyes, his skin cover with light newspaper textures with to-day's and past events of black trans struggles, and racism.
Bloody beautiful...
Mindy came by to hand him his glass a wine, she hums, "Your eyeliner is smudging."
"Thanks, darling." Hobie wipe the tear off his eye, "It's a fantastic piece, innit?"
"It's really sad..." Mindy frowns at the painting, "Crazy how colorful it is. Like they want you to be happy but when you look at it longer... you see the true ugliness of America."
Hobie sips his wine with a nod, "Exactly. It's perfect. How much is it?"
"300k."
"What? So little?"
"He's a new artist in the field. He's been popular through social media, but not in galleries. It's a different wave." She explained.
"Pfft, and he's black?"
"Yeah."
"Figures. Always the black man getting the short end of the stick." Hobie took out his black card, "I'll double the price."
"Are you sure?" Her eyes widen.
"Yes, I'm sure. I got payed from that stupid Pepsi commercial so I'm winning to buy this at a reasonable price." He said.
"I'll look for the seller. Stay here." She said before going to find them.
Hobie had no problem staying when he can admire this painting. Unaware of a black hooded man standing next to him. "You been looking at this piece for a while, huh?"
"It's a powerful piece." Hobie glanced over to find the person wearing a black hoodie.
"Meh, it's ight." He casually said.
"Are you bloody mad? This is one of the best works I've seen and trust me, I've seen bullshit artists from France, Japan, even the MET." He snorted.
"Gayatri's work is amazing. Zero's installation is freakin' cool." He added, "They are actually showing real struggles as women of color."
"I'll see for myself, but this right here! This is where it's at." Hobie said proudly.
The Hooded man chuckles, "Alright, but take your time looking at the other works." He left with that.
Hobie rolled his eyes but his nose tickle of scents of Sunflowers and tropical shea butter. "Who was he?" He mutter to himself, before going to the next work. The artist made five pieces. In the room there was only four massive works.
It seems Hobie fell in love with the artist, because the second work he loves it even more. It was a massive photo of a black male punker with tattoos, so much piercing on his face and had this scary look with so much spikes and ripples on his clothing. He had intense makeup, but the photo is only black and white.
The figure had a charming smile with his tongue out and wink while he holds a bouquet of sunflowers. The Sunflowers were painted in cartoon like, and there was other paintings of feminine and cutesy imagery. Stickers, and spray painted text. Hobie quickly read the name of the work, "A New Take on Sunflowers: Triptych Part 1 by Miles G. Morales."
Hobie went back to look at the piece, the Sunflowers were brighter almost glowing with youth. "A New Take on Sunflowers... By old Vinny?" He did love this work. He saw how the Punker represented gender fluidity, to embrace their culture yet love the things that aren't represented in their lifestyle. It could also show how someone 'scary' looking have a softer side by holding the flower with care and love.
"Hobie, your bandmates are here." Mindy came back to tell him.
"Be there." Hobie didn't wanna see them when he had these works to admire. The next painting was next to the punker photo. This time the second painting is a photo in black and white of two black women kissing being in the Ghetto of New York. They hold their Sunflowers. They had on weave, bright gold jewelry, tight clothing being so happy to be together.
Now that's love.
His eyes saw the color of the jewelry being the same yellow as the Sunflowers, and more happier texts and doodles around the two. The women had on wedding rings on, celebrating their marriage.
Hobie chuckles, "Cute." He saw the third part of this work. This one is a Puerto Rican mother, how did he know she's Puerto Rican? The massive flag in the background, and the woman sitting while braiding her daughter's hair with a soft gentle smile. The little Afro-Latina smiling at her big Sunflower as it aims at the two. It's a beautiful piece of mother and child.
Shit, why these works are affecting me so much
Hobie felt tears coming down his cheek, he never felt like this before. It's so beautiful and powerful. He needs them. He wants them in his penthouse!
"Hobie?" Mindy asked.
He quickly turns to her with his eyeliner already smudge, "I want all of these. Go buy them!"
"What? Hobie, you can't be-" Hobie glares at her. "Alright. Alright, I'll let the seller know!" She sighs, "Also, Karl and the rest of the band is here. Go say hi!"
"Ugh, fine." Hobie went to find his friends while his assistant went off to find the seller, again. His goal is to find the fifth work.
"Hey Hobs! What up, man?" His best friend, Karl high five him, he's the bass player of the band.
Riri chuckles, "Hey, share the love, bro!" She grins widely being the guitarist.
Mattea nodded, "Hey, Hobie." The drummer of the band.
Hobie gave them a hug, "Aye, mates. How's it going?"
"Great. With all these talkshows and trying to make our own shit, ugh we're exhausted." Riri said.
"Yeah, I released my own beer brand. Crazy, huh?" Karl chuckles.
"My own shirts." Mattea nodded, "We need to be smart because who knows what will happen with this band."
"What do you mean?" Hobie frowns.
"You know, we're all so busy trying to get our name out. It'll be better just in case if our band fall apart since you're busy with movies. Me with modeling." Riri added.
"And life." Mattea nodded.
"That's true. Ugh, we need to support each other. We still need to make our new album too." Hobie groans by this constant work load. "Fucking Bruce."
The rest groan. "Hobie! Hobie! I'm so happy you made it!" The group turns to find Pavtri holding his girlfriend's hand having to pull her with him. She giggles seeing how happy her boyfriend is.
"Hey, bruv. Been awhile." Hobie greeted him, "Luv. Nice to meet you." He holds Gayatri's hand and kissed it being a gentlemen when he wants to.
"Hahaha, nice to meet you, Hobie! I'm a big fan of Spider-Band!" She said.
"Have you seen, my sweet Gayatri's work!" Pavtri asked the punker with stars in his eyes. "Huh! HUH?"
"Oh honey," The female artist giggles, "He's been in Miles' room the whole time. I won't lie, his work is so good." She holds her side shoulder bag, "He even customized my bag. See!"
Hobie's eyes widen at the bag seeing the painting with Sunflowers and cute characters. "What? How? Can he do custom works?"
"Yeah, he does. I gave him one of my fabric works." She giggles, "You really like it, huh? It's moving, right?"
"I need to check it out." Riri said, "First some wine!"
"Same!" Mattea nodded.
"More like a crush." Karl knows when his best friend has a crush, it's very rare but it's obvious to see.
Gayatri giggles, "Really! Awe, you know he's single and ready to mingle." She loves playing match maker, with stars in her eyes being excited. "Zero, can tell you, he's so ready for a new man in his life!"
Pavtri pouted at the punker with fake tears, "Hobie, you promised you would admire my darling flower! My Gayatri's beautiful work! She took these beautiful hands," he holds her dainty hands, "and created this!" He jumps over to an installation of a blue cut out thick papers handing by a thread to show an abstract figure in blue. "All the dates we had to miss!"
"I will we have all the time." Hobie tries to explained then he was yank by Pavtri being forced to look at all of Gayatri's work. He even explain each one of them in great detailed.
Hobie spotted the last work of Miles G. Morales, it's at the end of the gallery on its own with nothing else around. He wanted to go see it, but he had to make his way through Zero's work, too. He didn't mind Gayatri's and Zero's work, they are amazing artist, but something about Miles' work. It got him, he needs to see the last painting.
After going through all his well known friends and admiring Zero's work. He found Miguel O'Hara's daughter gasping at Miles' painting, "Papá! Did you see that painting with the mother and daughter! It's so cute! Does he do custom work?" She asked, "I want one of me and mamá!"
"Alright. Let's see if we can book one." Miguel happily said to his daughter, his whole grumpy mood toward Peter changed when it was his daughter.
Jess giggles, "That Miles Morales is making waves with his work, being new to this game. I'm impressed."
"Yeah, the kid is freakin' good. He actually got some peeps from LA looking at his work. That kid is going to places."
The owner of the gallery is a tall thing black man, "Alright, gather around." Everyone went to see the speech which Hobie cursed himself, he was so close to see the final painting.
He smiles happily, "I like to thank my wife, Jess for support. My good friend Aaron for helping pitch in. This beautiful gallery is meant to bring all young diverse artists to the art game. I hope you enjoyed Gayatri's amazing works focusing on the hardship of Indian American women identity and gender roles. Zero's beautiful installations on her poems and politics of today." The two women artists came up with a smiling widely. "Sadly Miles couldn't make it today but his work focus on the struggles of Black and Brown acceptance in America."
Hobie frowns, he was hoping to meet the artist. Gayatri made it seem he was around. How odd?
"They are the future for young Contemporary artists, we know the field mostly represents a certain group, so I hope to help them achieve their careers with this gallery." He holds his glass of champagne being happy.
Then, a man in black hood came walking past the group surrounding the artists and owner of the gallery. Jess' husband finished, "I hope you enjoy the rest of the opening."
Hobie spotted the black hoodie male carries a bucket of paint, then when the artists and owner moved away. "Hey, what is he doing?" Karl asked out loud spotting the figure.
The figure throws black paint on the final painting by Miles. Everyone gasps even the security was about to go over. "Oh my god! Why would he do that?"
Hobie's mouth dropped in shock, "What the fuck, bruv!" He shouted out loud in anger.
The figure grins widely seeing the security guards being stopped by the owner, he took out his bright yellow Spray paint, and wrote in messy dripping text, "Miles wazz here!" He put down his hoodie revealing his face.
Hobie's eyes widen at such a handsome young man; big honey brown doe eyes, wearing earrings, septum nose piercing, and a bright glowing face. His hair a tapered Afro with a fade. Wait, this is Miles? Miles G. Morales?
"Easy. Easy. He's an artist. This is his installation piece." The owner explained.
Miles let the painting dripped showing how the painting still revealed a bit. "I call this, 'I'ma do my own thing.'" He grins widely at the crowd.
Noir nodded giving a loud clap in approval. The rest of the crowd awed, by the piece looking beautiful with the add on drips and markings. Gwen shouted, "Holy shit, Miles!"
"Wow, amazing!" Pavtri claps like crazy being so excited, "I was filled with so many emotions!" Everyone went back to looking at other works.
Hobie finally got the chance took a look at the painting, "Ruining it, eh?" He saw Miles finished talking to Pavtri, who hugs him before leaving them.
"Is it ruin to you?" Miles stood with a grin, he wore an oversize black hoodie, some tight jeans and black and yellow Jordans.
"Nah, it's perfect. I believe chaos, luv." Hobie grins at him.
Miles giggles, "I bet, you known for that."
"So you heard of me?"
"I mean, who doesn't know Hobie Brown? The lead singer of Spider band." He giggles in amusement, "So, I heard you're gonna buy my works. I'm surprised. I thought my shit would be too much for a celebrity."
"Pfft, I'm a different kind, Sunflower." He sips his wine, "I always love works about black empowerment and to support a fellow one at that."
"Aye, gracias papí." Miles spoke Spanish.
"Ah, so you're Puerto Rican?"
"I'm half black and half Puerto Rican, my parents are over there." He chuckles seeing the punker looking over to find the same woman from the painting and a little girl.
"Ahh, inspiration?"
"They were the reason for my Sunflower series." The artist explained, "Honestly, I was so nervous for tonight because I'm a new comer and being with these amazing artists of New York- Ugh, I can't believe I'm here."
"That's why you doubted your work?"
"Pretty much." Miles admitted, "Funny, you're easy to talk to."
"I'm always listening, Sunflower." He leans over to get a closer look at the artist, "And I listen to the person I like."
Miles felt flustered then giggles, "Haha, funny."
"Oh yea? Gimme your number and let see if I'm playin?" He flirted with a deep voice. Miles didn't know what possess him to hand him his smartphone but he did. The Punker happily type his number into the phone and put his private social media too.
"Text me, Sunflower." He winks at the artist as he handed back his phone.
"Okay." Miles did the basic hey.
Hobie chuckles, "So soon? You really want me."
"No-no, I mean- awe man! I suck at this stuff." Miles pouts.
"Oh yeah? So you want me to be forward," The punker lift his chin up about to lean in, their lips close to almost touching, "Because I can."
"Eh?" MIles' honey brown eyes widen, he didn't think the punker would be this bold!
"NO! My big bro!" A little girl ruffling shoves Hobie away from her brother.
"Billie!" Miles saw his seven year old sister, "Awe, come here." Thank god, because he wasn't ready for a kiss like that. His face felt so warm.
Billie happily hugs her brother being picked up, "Yeah! Only I give kisses to mi hermano!" She kisses her brother's cheek. "Your painting of me and mamí esta may bueno, hermano!"
"Awe, thank you, Billie-boo."
Hobie only rub his nose then sniff. Damn, he almost got to taste him. Shame, but he does like it when they play hard to get. Licking his lips, his eyes yearn for the artist. Something in him wants him. Putting on his charming smiles, "So this is your little sister?"
"Yeah, I am Billie!" The little girl stated, "Who you are? You don't kiss my brother!"
"Sorry, she loves me too much." Miles giggles. "Billie, this is Hobie. He's a popular singer. Hobie this is Billie."
"Hmph," Billie pouted giving a look at the punker.
"She is small. What is she? four?"
"I'm seven years old!" Billie huffs, "I am a BIG GURL!" She hugs her brother around his neck.
"Eck, Billie. Not too tight." Miles almost choked. "Sorry, she was like this with my friends."
"No problem. I love lil sprogs." He chuckles lowly, "Also, how do I book for a custom painting?"
"Oh, on my social I have a link to my studio website and there's a form for custom orders. You really gonna buy another painting from me?"
"Of course." He saw his assistant near him, "Mindy, darling. Have you met the seller?"
"Yes, sir. They are willing to sell all five works." She said.
"Alright, add another one. A custom on from Miles' website." Hobie smirks widen when he saw how Miles' eyes widen.
"Alright, if you wish to purchase it now, we need to go to the owner and have it ready for shipping." Mindy hums.
"Very well."
"Also, we should be leaving soon. You have a recording session tomorrow." She hums.
"Alright. Alright." He winks at Miles being a show off, he lifts Miles' hands up to kiss it, "It was wonderful seeing you. I hope we can meet again... without me buying paintings- perhaps a date?"
Miles' face went super flustered by the punker. He never thought this famous singer would be so sweet, so charming, so damn cute! "Huh uh." That's all came out of his mouth.
Billie side eye at her brother seeing how shy he became. "Lil one, I hope you will protect your brother from untamed men." Hobie smiles at her before handing her a crumble hundred dollar bill.
"Aye, Ayi! Cap'n!" Billie nodded at the tip.
Miles said, "Wait, you don't have to-" Hobie shrugs, "She can buy whatever she wants with it. Anyway, I'll see you later."
"Oh... Okay. Bye Hobie." Miles hugs his baby sister tightly feeling so bashful, his heart fluttering.
The punker left with a large receipt of five expensive paintings. He wave his fellow friends goodbye.
In the limo, he had a big smile on his face thinking about his Sunflower. "Never see you this happy? You really like the artist, huh?"
He sighs lovingly, "Yeah... do you know where he lives? I want to send him some flower." He breath exhale on the cold window letting it fog up, then he drew a crappy sunflower.
"On it." She nodded.
-Present Day-
Hobie chilling outside enjoying his pool after his record session. His Smartphone vibrating, he looks to find Miles calling him. "Sunflower! Surprised you called, miss me?" He flirted removing his dark shades.
"Hobie, I think you send me too many flowers...." He said.
"Oh? Fifty bouquets didn't come to you?"
"Fifty? There's like one, two, three.... forty nine-" Miles stops hearing the door bell, "Never mind, fifty."
"Then you got them all. How about the gifts?"
"Hobie, you shouldn't have sent this- I- It's nice of you for-" Hobie waves it off, "Nah, it's fine. I got money and wanted to spend it on you, Sunflower. Now, that you called- How about a lunch date?"
"Huh? A date?"
"Yup." Hobie sips on his sparkling water.
"Ummm," Miles felt bashful again, "Sure... where-where?"
"I'll pick you up. I know a great place. Also, I might bring another bouquet for you." Hobie happily said.
Miles nodded, "Okay. Do i need to wear anything?"
"I prefer lingerie."
"Huh!"
"Joking. I'm joking, luv. Something you want to wear. Don't worry it's a chill spot."
"Alright, man." The artist bite his bottom lip, "I... I don't do sex on the first date, by the way...."
"Oh? I'm surprised you expected me too." The singer chuckles.
"No, I mean- I'm so sorry that's rude. I just have to always-" Hobie chuckles, "It's okay, luv. I promise I'll give you a kiss on the cheek."
"Just a kiss on the cheek." Now he sounded disappointed.
"Or you want on the mouth with tongue?"
Miles never felt so embarrassed, "Your a jerk, Hobie Brown."
"You seem to like it." He laughs.
"I do actually." His pouty lip more enhance as he listens to Hobie's voice. Something about this punker got him thinking about him. He had a beautiful dream with him and it feels like he known him. Its weird.
"Then, I'll pick you up soon. See you later, Sunflower."
"See you, Hobie." Miles hears him hung up, then he hung up. The artist never felt like this. Touching his lips feeling the cracks of his dry skin, "I need to moisturized! Lip scrub! Look good for him!" He rushes over to the bathroom to get ready.
A special bond formed between the artist and the singer.

do you have diverse modern romance recs?
Yep! I've (mostly) organized it by author:
Naima Simone: I'm obsessed with literally everything this woman writes, both Harlequin and not Harlequin. Naima writes a lot of fabulous Black heroines (and she writes great body diversity as well) and a decent amount of POC heroes as well. My favorites include . Black Tie Billionaire (Black heroine, Asian hero), Secrets Of A One Night Stand (Black heroine, Pacific Islander hero), and Trust Fund Fiancé (both the hero and heroine are Black). The best thing about Naima's books is just the uniformity in how she writes every body type as attractive and desirable and the sex is very hot. Would absolutely recommend.
Katrina Jackson: I haven't talked about Katrina enough, when she's out here doing the most for mafia romances and spy romances with diverse characters. I could happily read her novella Beautiful & Dirty over and over, but it's a prequel to the mafia series which ends with my favorite, The Don, which has a Black heroine. Katrina also wrote a spy series (The Spies Who Loved Me!) and the first in that series, Pink Slip, has a Black heroine who's lusting over her married bosses (the wife, Monica, is Latina I believe) and surprise, they're both into her too.
Angelina M. Lopez: Angelina writes excellent Latino rep. Her fictional town Freedom, Kansas, which is the setting in multiple stories, has an amazing Mexican-American community she builds on. I'd recommend After Hours on Milagro Street, which has a Mexican-American heroine, as well as her upcoming Full Moon Over Freedom, which is next in the series. The way she melds culture, magic, and romance is gorgeous. Also! Lush Money, which is set within this universe, has a Latina heroine and is very fun and worth reading.
Tara Pammi: If you want to read about Indians in India or Bollywood-centric romances, Tara is the author. I liked Claiming His Bollywood Cinderella and The Secret She Kept in Bollywood (that man is suuuch a DILF he's great).
Jadesola James: I've talked about her before (see here) but Jadesola has written a couple Harlequin Presents stories set in Africa. I'd recommend The Royal Baby He Must Claim and The Princess He Must Marry, which are about sisters who are Nigerian princesses.
Talia Hibbert: The Brown Sisters books are bangers, sexy and emotionally comforting at the same time. I'd recommend all of them: Get a Life, Chloe Brown, Take a Hint, Dani Brown, and Act Your Age, Eve Brown. I also love her novella Guarding Temptation, which has both a Black hero and heroine and Wanna Bet? which has a Black heroine and a British-Indian hero (thanks for reminding me @viscountessevie).
Wrong to Need You by Alisha Rai: The hero and heroine are in-laws (well, her husband, his brother, is dead) so the romance was very emotional and slow-burn, but the pay-off was absolutely worth it. The heroine Sadia is Pakistani-American, and the hero Jackson is of Japanese and Hawaiian ancestry. Alisha also delves pretty deep into South Asian family dynamics which hit a liiiittle too close to home, but I can't deny the accuracy.
Reel by Kennedy Ryan: This a romance between an actress and her director (both are Black) and I particularly appreciate the amount of research Kennedy Ryan put into the Harlem Renaissance, Black artists of that era (she created a fictional artist to base the movie off of), as well as their contributions to the Civil Rights movement which I think isn't discussed enough.
Sink or Swim by Tessa Bailey: See here.
From what I recall, Katee Robert did a pretty good job of body diversity without super explicitly mentioning race in her Fairytale Villains Who Fuck Wicked Villains series.

"Karam": KSHMR's Latest Album is the Best Project in Desi Hip Hop
When global EDM, Trap & Bass pioneer KSHMR, born Niles Hollowell-Dhar, announced his the most anticipated debut Desi hip hop album ‘Karam’, which he took almost 2 years to complete and it breathed fresh air into India’s thriving Hip-Hop scene. While millions of KSHMR’s avid listeners see his album as the biggest rap album of the year in India, for many artists and record producers, ‘Karam’ is the much-needed cultural push which might go down as one of the best Hip-Hop albums in history.
In ever-growing Indian Desi Hip-Hop scene, where every beat tells a story and every rhyme narrates an experience, KSHMR dropped his the most anticipated Desi Hip-Hop album "Karam" on November 3rd, 2023. And I have to say this is not just a musical creation; it's a testament to the enduring power of hip-hop when one SuperProducer wielded with the artists in the scene along with some new and upcoming thriving talented faces for a story to tell.
KSHMR collaborated with many artists those who are the OG faces of DHH like Ikka, Raftaar and Krsna alongwith some new and fresh heavyweight talents brewing up in today's scene like a morning Coffee as such Rawal, HanumanKind and only recurring artist from this album Yashraj who has 3 features in album.
This album is not just a collection of beats; it's a sonic odyssey that navigates like a classic Bollywood crime drama movie from the 90s. Let's embark on a detailed review and breakdown of this masterpiece.
The Prelude: Setting the Movie Tone for an album
"Karam" isn't an album you merely listen to; it's an experience that begins with the very first beat. The album opens a portal into KSHMR's creative movie, where each track is a distinct scene. The tone is set, and the listener is invited into a sonic movie journey that begins with some deep philosophy.
The cover art: The Infinite Ouroboros
"Karam" album Cover Art
The album cover art of "Karam" is simplistic but it hits the mark. It is perfecty alleigned with name, theme and plot of an album. The whole album talks about the law of karma. In simple words, "The deeds(Karam) you do will turn around and come back to you". This cover art is inspired by one ancient Symbol called "Ouroboros", a circular symbol that depicts a snake or dragon devouring its own tail and that is used especially to represent the eternal cycle of destruction and rebirth.
The Ouroboros
The Infinite Ouroboros
Here In this art too, you can see a raging snake like figure eating its own tail in anger and hunger, but here making an infinity symbol instead of a circular representing "The Infinite Ouroboros". Which explains that Karma is an infinite loop. If I'd have to explain this with an example then you can suppose if someone did something bad and hurtful to you, you'll do the same to them, by that, they will do even worse to you and you'll do even worse to them, and this cycle will go on and on and will create an infinite loop of Karma. Remember this example because this same thing happened in the album twice on two different occasions. Colour scheme used in the cover is dark and hauntingly red which also support the plot of the album that you will be experienced, and it also represents that your Karma will always Haunt you no matter what.
This Album is spans for more than 50 minutes. It has totally 24 tracks, 10 Interludes and 14 songs. Now let's dive deep into the album and explore every songs and Interludes with the story of an album itself.
1. The Beginning - Interlude
Album opens with our protagonist as a kid who has an alcoholic and abusive father physically abusing his mother. When he tries to confront him, his father forced to get him out of his home along with his mother. Now that he's homeless, one thing he does that to start aspiring and dreaming for getting out this poor circumstances. Where, the first song of this album "dream"comes into play.
2. Dream (feat. Ikka & Karra)
This is the perfect opening track for the album. It's an upbeat and inspiring song about the power of dreams. The lyrics are simple but effective, and the beat is catchy and uplifting.
In this song, the protagonist is wandering in streets of Mumbai having one dream in his eye that he wants to own this city no matter what situations he has to go through.
Ikka penned his very strong, highly aspiring and gangster vibe giving two verses with impeccable flows, witty rhyme schemes and some awesome references. He talked about being self motivated and driven by dream so blindy that he's not seeing whatever he's doing it's good or bad.
3. The plan - interlude
Our protagonist seems frustrated and exhausted from his low life and decided to do something big, so he planned a robbery with his brother in arms and setting a stage for upcoming song "Bhussi".
4. Bhussi (feat. Seedhe Maut & Karan Kanchan)
This track is a bit darker and more atmospheric. It's about the struggles of everyday life, and the lyrics are raw and honest. The beat is also dark and menacing, but it's also strangely hypnotic.
In this track, Protagonist robs a bank because he was tired of not having money in his life. That's where he first stepped in in a crime and underworld scene of Mumbai.
5. The money - Interlude
The Robbery was successful and now the protagonist has so much money in his hands that he's going to buy that club where his friend was refused to enter before. This interlude a subtle callback to Ikka's one bar "I'll buy that land where I'm not supposed to put my feet".
6. Zero after Zero (feat. KR$NA & Talay Riley)
One of the standout tracks on the album is "Zero After Zero" featuring Krsna and Talay Riley. This song perfectly blends Indian influenced elements, creating a unique and captivating sound. Krsna's powerful and dynamic vocals combined with Talay Riley's smooth and soulful voice add depth and emotion to the track. The production quality of this song is top-notch, with KSHMR's signature attention to detail evident in every aspect of the music.
The only con of this song is also standing out of the plot of an album, because in this track, KR$NA was more talking about his own things and deeds. So this song has zero to next progress in storyline.
7. Upar Hi Upar (feat. Yashraj & Rawal)
It features Yashraj and Rawal, two of the most popular upcoming rappers in India. The song starts with a catchy melodious 808s that is reminiscent of versatile capabilities of KSHMR. The beat then drops, and Yashraj and Rawal start rapping. Their lyrics are about the importance of staying true to your roots and celebrating your culture. They also rap about the power of community and how it can help you achieve your dreams.
In the progress of the storyline, the protagonist is going up and up on his own way achieving everything he had dreamt of one by one.
8. Godfather (feat. Nazzz)
This song is one of a kind when nobody expected to see Nazz feature in KSHMR's album. And where Nazz is and there are no punchlines, it cannot be happened. So this song is so Nazz being Nazz, full of punchlines and hardcore Desi gangta vibe giving.
In this song, the protagonist now at top of his game ruling the underworld of city and becomes a Godfather now.
9. Bhasad - interlude
This interlude makes an appearance of the antagonist of an album, His name is "Raja bhai".
And Raja bhai is not happy with our Protagonist because, he is doing business in territory of Raja bhai. So the antagonist warns him saying that his actions will cost him one day.
10. All fall down (feat. Yashraj, Raja Kumari & Riar Saab)
This very song can be labelled as "Certified Banger". KSHMR went out of realm with his bombarding beat. Raja Kumari dropped the Sickest Hook of the entire Album. So big Props to Raja Kumari for this. Yashraj and Riar Saab dropped their energetic verses talking about everyday normal life of a gangster and then went back and forth at the outro verse. The hook is played 4 times in this song and also main Highlight of this track, because it happens very rare when the chorus outshined the actual verses and that's exactly what happened here.
In progression of storyline, Protagonist's gang has some little feuds and shootings with Raja Bhai's gang, where protagonist lost his few gang members. So protagonist felt like his new empire is falling down.
11. B.I.G. (feat. Harjas & PUNA)
This is a calming and sit-back giving vibe track that showcases the rapper's raw talent and lyrical prowess. The song opens with a catchy low beat that immediately grabs the listener's attention, and Harjas's confident delivery adds to the song's intensity.
The lyrics of "B.I.G." are introspective and thought-provoking, as Harjas raps about his struggles and aspirations. He speaks about overcoming adversity, having maturity and achieving success, and his words are both relatable and inspiring. This song has mixed reviews, low retention value and maybe not favourite song of anyone from this album. Some things just didn't work out in this song. But still, it's a really good song.
Our protagonist seems to have some maturity and realisation about his crime life.
12. La vida (feat. Dabzee & Vedan)
This is the song where KSHMR went into "Despasito" mode and threw a really vibey song with having two south indian rappers which I never heard of them before, rapping in 2 distinct South Indian languages. As I'm not familiar with any south indian languages, i haven't understood anything in this song, and yet I was vibing with it all the way long. This is one those songs where you don't need to worry about lyrics and just vibe with the song.
13. The Girl - interlude
As I said before, this is not just an album, it's a Bollywood movie. And movie is not complete without having a heroine. So here comes a female lead in our story, where the protagonist saw one girl on pathway at night looking for taxi and finds her very attractive.
14. Hath Varthi (feat. MC Stan)
Now that a Girl arrived in the scene, now it's time to hit the club and play a "Club Anthem" of this album which is Harth Varthi. The Best beat production by KSHMR in Karam. And it features MC Stan so you couldn't care less about lyrics. But still he delivered his funky verses where he talked about a girl he's hitting on and about his fame and everything. Overall it's really good song just made for playing in parties.
After seeing that girl, maybe our protagonist hits the club and partied all night.
15. Nasheeli Raat - interlude
That girl he saw at that night now is distracting the protagonist so bad that he can't be seeing anything but her face. He realised that he's in love with her. And what time is it? It's time for a "love song".
16. Mere bina (feat. PropheC & Talha Anjum)
This track is a love song about the importance of staying true to yourself. The lyrics are heartfelt and romantic, and the beat is soft and melodic. Anjum's verse was short but yet so effective. Showing that the protagonist is really serious about this one.
17. The Argument - interlude
In this one, we can see that our protagonist is with that girl and showing her a beach-side luxurious villa which he just bought for her. But the Girl is in concern about his gangster life. She doesn't want to live in a luxury bungalow which is made by rivering bloods. So they both have some arguments about it. In the end the girl asks him to quit his gangster life and said "your gun will take my life one day"
18. Maula (feat. Munawar)
In here, we are seeing a Standup Comedian is rapping about deep and serious things about life. This is an introspective track that showcases Munawar's unique storytelling ability and his raw talent. The song opens with a haunting melody that sets the tone for the track, and Munawar's heartfelt delivery adds to the song's emotional depth.
The lyrics of "Maula" are deeply personal and relatable, as Munawar raps about his struggles with faith, doubt, and the search for meaning in life. He speaks about his struggles with self-acceptance and his search for a higher power, and his words are both honest and vulnerable.
Our protagonist is now thinking about what consequences he will might face in the future if he quit his life now and starts living peacefully with his love interest, he's scared of his past and his karma if ever might hurt her too. So he was praying to God and asking for some help to show him right way.
19. The Call - interlude
Our protagonist was spending happy times with the girl when he gets a call from his sidekick friend who went to have some deal in Raja Bhai's area without even telling our protagonist. The deal Turned out as a trap of Raja Bhai where he shot dead the Protagonist's friend and he died on call. We can see the protagonist crying and screaming in pain on the other side.
20. Khoya sab (feat. Yungsta & Lisa Mishra)
Now that our protagonist lost his friend and second in command of his gang, he's feeling like he lost everything and everything is falling apart around him. It's perfect time for a sad song.
This is really powerful track filled with full of emotions that showcases Yungsta and Lisa Mishra's unique talents. Opening with a haunting beat and captivating lyrics, the song immediately draws the listener into its world of introspection and self-discovery. Yungsta's verses are filled with raw emotion and honesty, while Lisa Mishra's soothing voice provides a counterbalance, adding depth, resonance and melancholy to the song.
The lyrics of 'Khoya Sab' explore themes of loss, regret, and the search for meaning in life, with Yungsta and Lisa Mishra sharing their personal experiences and struggles. The song's title translates to 'Lost Everything', reflecting the feeling of being adrift and searching for a sense of purpose.
Considering the best track from this album, it's many people's the most favourite song. Overall, this is very impacting and moving song that will leave a lasting impression on the listener. It's a must-listen for fans of hip-hop and anyone who has experienced the depths of loss and the search for meaning in life.
21. The Revenge - interlude
Now our protagonist is all set to take revenge of his friend's death from Raja Bhai. He's well prepared for going on to full pledged gang war.
22. Enemies (feat. HanumanKind & Yashraj)
This is a "Gym Song" energetic track that showcases the raw talent and lyrical prowess of HanumanKind and Yashraj. The song opens with a hard-hitting beat that immediately grabs the listener's attention, and the confident delivery of HanumanKind and Yashraj adds to the song's intensity.
HanumanKind and Yashraj deliver their lyrics with a confidence that is both impressive and captivating. They command the listener's attention and make their words resonate.
This song gives you a feeling of action packed fight scenes from movie playing BGM exactly like this.
In the long outro, our protagonist seems like winning the war but he's injured, filled with bullet holes and slowly dying.
23. Legacy (feat. Raftaar)
Now that our protagonist is dead, it's time to talk to the legacy he sets. This is a tribute giving and motivational track that serves as a fitting finale to KSHMR's album "Karam". The song opens with a soaring melody that immediately sets the tone for Raftaar's inspiring lyrics. The song's production is top-notch, with a blend of drill elements that perfectly complement Raftaar's confident delivery.
Raftaar's lyrics in "Legacy" are both personal and universal, as he reflects on his own experiences and aspirations while also offering words of encouragement to others. He speaks about the importance of hard work and dedication, the power of dreams, and the legacy that one can leave behind. His words are both relatable and inspiring, and they are sure to resonate with listeners who are striving to achieve their own goals.
The production of "Legacy" is equally impressive, with a beat that is both driving and uplifting. The song's overall sound is polished and professional, and it perfectly complements Raftaar's message of perseverance and success.
Overall, "Legacy" is a perfect finale closing album track on "Karam". It is sure to made to inspire listeners to chase their dreams and leave their own mark on the world.
24. The end - interlude
The narrator voice says "in this life full of ups and downs, you finally get to your end, and nothing else comes with you except your Karam"
Conclusion
Overall, "Karam" is a must-listen album for fans of both electronic music and hip hop. It is a well-produced album with a star-studded lineup of artists and a variety of different styles. The album is also a celebration of Indian culture and the power of dreams. KSHMR really have done something never like before in Desi Hip-Hop scene. Undeniablly, the best project of 2023.
So, if you're looking for an album that is both upbeat and inspiring, then I highly recommend checking out "Karam" by KSHMR. It's an album that will stay with you long, maybe for entire lifetime after you've finished listening to it.
Peace out, and see you next time!

Hello, I've been reading your fics for quite sometime now. And they've got me hooked! One thing I've been curious about in this idolverse is the ethnicity of the OCs Kaya and Dilara, especially given their names and surnames. Could you shed some light on it? Excited for the upcoming fic!
Tee hee, I knew this would come up eventually 😌 I've been deliberately vague about this because I didn't want their ethnicity or nationality to overshadow their actual personalities and characters - but I suppose we're two years in now so they're developed enough.
So Kaya is Indian American - her parents immigrated to the US before she was born, so she was born and raised as an American of Indian heritage. Madaan is a reasonably common Indian surname and while Kaya isn't as common, it just fit her character really well for me.
(Since I've also been asked why she has a Korean cousin - Jieun, her aunt, is her father's adopted sister of Korean descent. She would have visited Korea in college to learn about her roots and eventually settled there with her Korean-American husband, and her daughter Jae-lin is Kaya's cousin.)
Dilara is also half-Indian - her mother is of Indian origin and I imagine her biological father was white, who left her mother when he found out she was pregnant. Being half-white and born out of wedlock, she and her mother would've been borderline ostracised in her home country, and they would've moved to London when she was young (six or seven).
In London, her mother would've met Rudy Komyshan, a Ukranian-British businessman who treated Dilara as his own from day one, including funding a large part of her early racing career. Dilara would've taken his last name some time in her mid-teens.
Dilara is a Persian name, not Indian - but I imagine her mother, who is an artist and a bit of a free-spirit, would've absolutely loved that name and given it to her daughter and only family that was truly in her corner her whole life.

INDIAN MAINSTREAM GOES INTERNATIONAL
In past, Indian Cinema has gone international for mainly the artistic films made here. But after Bahubali and especially after RRR, its different now. The world have seen some Grand film from India with last Rajamouli's films, now it's opened the expectations for the big films from India in International level. And those kind of also sells all over India without any language barriers. That really helps the producers to put money in their films which will go Pan India, then the Pan Indian films can easily go International if it connects worldwide audiences. And that resulted in making more films in such way as KALKI 2898 AD and RAMAYANA etc. Mainly these 2 films the upcoming Rajamouli film with Mahesh Babu really focusing going Pan World.
Team KALKI 2898 AD has started showcasing the film's updates in International events and making of the film is that standard with great technicians. The setup of the film is which the worldwide audience can get excited about and Prabhas's Bahubali reach is an added value. Important International VFX companies are working for the film.
Team RAMAYANA hired Hans Zimmer for music work of the film with Great AR Rahman collaboratting with him. And VFX work is done some important international companies.
And we know that the next Rajamouli film will do no less than these films.
So, That's what i meant when the tittle said INDIAN MAINSTREAM GOES INTERNATIONAL.

"Hisaab" finds the two artists counting their myriad accomplishments in 6/8 time, taunting any comer who can't match their quick maths, while "Top Class / Overseas" lays playful strings atop sliding 808s as DIVINE and Karan proclaim their valedictory status. "Yaad," meanwhile displays a softer side of the duo, as they trade off vocals with Indian-Canadian singer Jonita Gandhi.
Also among the highlights is "100 Million," the tape's lead single and music video, which made waves across the globe. Defined by nostalgic hip-hop production reminiscent of Y2K-era Dr. Dre, in this case produced by American producer Trox (50 Cent, Cordae), “100 Million” is an anthem for those with grand dreams, the two icons reflecting on the enduring habits that propelled them to greatness. The song arrived in mid-January, with a video filmed in Dubai and directed by Karan Aujla’s long-time collaborators Rupan Bal, Dilpreetvfx and Anmol Raina. The song and video immediately became a huge success–the song reached the #1 spot of the YouTube Trending Charts in India, and reached the Top 10 in countries including Canada (#2), New Zealand (#4), UK (#6), Australia (#8) and the UAE (#8). Overall, the song racked up over 21 million YouTube views to date, as well as over 6 million Spotify streams.
Karan Aujla and DIVINE have individually topped several charts across India with their albums and songs such as Karan's “Softly”, “White Brown Black”, “Mexico,” and “Players,” and DIVINE's “Mirchi”, “359 AM”, “Baazigar” (80 million YouTube views), and “Kaam 25” (65 million YouTube views). Their upcoming collaborative project is the first of its kind in the Indian music space and is poised to be a landmark moment in Indian music history.
With Street Dreams out now, the dynamic duo prepares to make their presence felt on American shores. Stay tuned for more videos and announcements from DIVINE and Karan Aujla in the near future.

Remembering Sixto Diaz Rodriguez and Robbie Robertson
What a day for music fans! Here is my combined remembrance of two musicians we lost today:
Remembering Sixto Diaz Rodriguez 1942-2023
movie poster
The singer-songwriter known as Rodriguez as died at 81. He released some folk albums in the early 70s that went largely unnoticed in the U.S. but had a big impact in South Africa. In the 2012 documentary Searching for Sugar Man (which won the Academy Award for Best Documentary), they document the search for the singer who was rumored to be dead but was living a humble life in Detroit. Sadly the documentary director Malik Bendjelloul died in 2014. Even if supposedly the documentary glossed over some elements of Rodriguez' life, it made the point that a long lost musician can still have an impact years later and far away. I included the doc on my Best Docs of the 2010s and picked up the soundtrack.

Remembering Robbie Robertson 1943-2023
movie poster
The Band leader and accomplished solo artist Robbie Robertson has died at 80. The Band - just The Band nothing more - were critic’s darlings of the 60s / 70s. A folk rock band that made truly timeless music and all members played off each other so well. Their 1969 self-titled album is a classic and I have it on vinyl. When they did their farewell concert in 1976 (they later re-formed), Martin Scorsese directed that concert and it was released in 1978 as The Last Waltz. That 1977 concert film is arguably the greatest concert movie of all time. Whenever music or film geeks debate the greatest concert film ever made, it always comes down to The Last Waltz and Jonathan Demme’s Talking Heads concert film Stop Making Sense. Both The Last Waltz concert film and the live album were time capsule-worthy. Ringo Starr even sat in on a song. George Harrison was a close friend and admirer or Robertson and The Band as well. Also worth checking out are the albums Robertson / The Band did with Bob Dylan, notably Dylan's masterpiece Blonde on Blonde.
Scorsese and Robertson
In addition to numerous solo albums and music producing, Robertson became a close collaborator with Scorsese on a number of his films, composing music, songs and/or doing music supervision on Raging Bull, The King of Comedy, The Color of Money, Casino, Gangs of New York, Shutter Island, The Wolf of Wall Street, Silence, The Irishman, and the upcoming Killers of the Flower Moon. What a great team they made! Music has always been a big part of Scorsese's films and the music Robertson was responsible for truly enhanced those films.
Robertson also appeared in numerous documentaries including Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked the World (read my interview with director Catherine Bainbridge here), Elvis Presley: The Searcher (read my review here), and of course Once Were Brothers: Robbie Robertson & The Band (read my review here).

I've been in Mauritius for about 10 days now, working on my new photography series 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝘀/𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗼𝗱𝘆, to be exhibited as part of my upcoming solo at the @centre_des_arts_visuels in March 2023. The days have been long and arduous, physically demanding, but I have been blessed to find dreamy, joyous, creative and dedicated collaborators in @ashvin.ramdin and Mervyn Gopal, who have been supporting me through this creative process. Doing this work has been a beautiful testament to how much I have grown, as an artist and as a queer/trans Mauritian since working on the 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 series a few years ago. I now come to this work with a more profound artistic vision, and so much more confidence in allowing the fullness of my queer being to take up space on the island. 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝘀/𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗼𝗱𝘆 delves into the spiritual space that exists between the queer racialized body and the island body. Through meditations and ritual-performance captured through photography, I recreate an ancestral, decolonial and hybrid frame from which to rewrite and reinscribe the queer femme body onto the nationalist space of the island. Here are some outtakes from the project! I cannot wait to share the full-breath of this new work with all of you! This project is made possible thanks to the generous support of the @canada.council Photo credit: @ashvin.ramdin #queeringtheislandbody #photography #mauritius #mauritiusartist #queermauritius #transmauritius #art #artist #performer #performance #poet #poetry #visualart #visualartist #exhibition #exhibit #lgbt #lgbtq #queer #trans #transgender #femme #montrealartist #island #body #lamackerel #kamalamackerel #zomfam (at Mauritius, Indian Ocean, Africa) https://www.instagram.com/p/CloFkbsoYDP/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Rapper XXXTentacion's life ended in violence.
XXXTentacion was proud to have fought from a young age and said that at the age of 6 he tried to fight a man who lived with his mother. Onfroy grew up in Broward County, Florida, which is densely populated and economically diverse, with many supermarkets lined with low-rise frame houses. XXXTentacion said his parents are Jamaican and also claimed on his personal Tumblr page that his ancestors were of Egyptian, Indian, German and Italian blood.
This chaotic journey is also reflected in his taste in music. When hip-hop magazine XXL hailed XXXTentacion as an upcoming talent with a cover photo in 2017, the rapper was asked about the artists who inspired him, naming a range of names from rock to punk, including Kurt Cobain, Papa Roach, Cage the Elephant and even the British band Coldplay.
"I'm more inspired by other artists than rap," said XXXTentacion. He's had a rebellious personality since childhood and XXXTentacion showed that with his looks. There are many photos of XXXTentacion with tattoos visible, such as a tree on his forehead, an elephant's head on his neck, and the word "Cleopatra". on the chest in honor of his mother, Cléopâtre Bernard. In
Bernard gave birth to a son Onfroy when she was only 17-18 years old and had to work hard to raise him 'restless'; Son. "My mother didn't mind taking care of me, so she just referred me to someone who could take care of me.I wasn't living in good circumstances at the time” XXXTentacion shared once. Then Onfroy realized his punches were an easy way to get his mother's attention.
"At school, I would fight with a lot of my classmates and say a lot of dirty things just to hear my mom yell or talk to me," XXXTentacion said.
Heavy fighting resulted in Onfroy being expelled from high school. At the age of 12 he lived mainly with his grandmother. In high school, Onfroy was arrested for armed robbery, possession of oxycodone pain medication, gun possession, and resisting law enforcement.
In prison, he wrote music that eventually became a hit.
However, XXXTentacion's life ended when he was shot and killed.
In March, XXXTentacion's second studio album "?" topped the Billboard 200. However, that success came at the same time he was awaiting trial in Broward, Fla. for brutally assaulting and jailing a pregnant woman, his girlfriend Geneva Ayala.Ayala told the Miami New Times about the horrifying attack.
Ayala revealed that she was repeatedly hit by XXXTentacion every three to four days during the summer of
in 2016. The rapper strangled her, tore off her clothes, hung her upside down and threatened to cut off her hair and tongue. XXXTentacion also stabbed her, slicing her face and holding her head under water.
XXXTentacion continued to be violent towards Ayala even after she was discovered by
in October 2016 that she was pregnant. That same month he was arrested and charged with assaulting a pregnant woman. However, he has always denied the allegations.
In addition to physically assaulting his girlfriend, XXXTentacion has also stirred controversy by arguing with viewers and hurling vulgar insults at Superstar Drake.
But legal troubles couldn't stop XXXTentacion's initial success. With the endorsement of SoundCloud and praise from rap stars like Danny Brown and A$AP Rocky, his reputation has steadily grown.
"Look At Me" debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 in February 2017. During this time, the rapper was constantly arrested and imprisoned for various crimes. When her debut album, titled 17, was released in August, it reached number two on the Billboard chart.
The album XXXTentacion "?" to the top of the charts and the single "Sad!" It was certified double platinum and reached the top 5 on the rap and R&B charts. From 2017 to date, 16 songs by XXXTentacion have made the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
When XXXTentacion was awarded by XXL magazine, a controversy broke out. "Should XXXTentacion be here? He should be in prison. He has a criminal record," Pitchfork asked in reference to the rapper's criminal record.

Traditional Indian Art forms – Why are they disappearing?
TRADITIONAL INDIAN ART FORMS - WHY ARE THEY DISAPPEARING?
India has an amazing culture and history of different art forms and handicrafts. India is the hometown for more than 50 tribal and traditional folk arts. These folk arts of India have passed from generation to generation from over 3000 years. But lots of these traditions are about to disappear.
Folk art of India is a very respected and very important element of India’s Culture. It has been practiced and perfected by artisans' generations. The reason for disappearing these traditional Indian art forms is complex. There are lots of factors that have resulted in the disappearance of the traditional Indian Art forms.
Two major reasons for the disappearance of Traditional Indian form are westernization and Industrialization. The cultural identity of traditional art form, buyers, artists and beliefs have had a negative effect of westernization. This has changed in what was made for them, what they made, and how it was made. The lack of attention and interest about traditional art forms in current generation art collectors, in India as well as outside has led to disappointing situations where these arts are slowly disappearing.
Now talking about industrialization resulting in creating goods, longer lasting, cheaper and faster to the customers. Government is spending a lot to sustain and motivate the traditional art industry. They even require training in design, processes, products, material expertise and much needed awareness of international trends to come up with creative solutions.
Government’s organizational set up itself has very little scope for satisfactory profit margin for artists and craftsmen. This is discouraging the upcoming generations from ancestral to choose a traditional art form as a profession. New generation is not preferring this profession because of its low earning potential.
Telangana’s Cheriyal scrolls, Karnataka's the chittara, West Bengal’s the Dhokra, Rajasthan’s the Kavad , Andra’s Leather puppet and other art forms all are disappearing. Traditional art forms are all endangered because most of them aren’t making money and customers don’t want to do them. When considering the traditional art forms it includes carving, nirmal painting, wicker woven baskets. Nowadays design trends leaning towards modernism, the demand for traditional items is reducing. China and other Asian markets are now mass producing and supplying trendy natural materials everywhere that is disrupting the market size for artisan and craftsmen.
Traditional art needs to be saved for its original value and not just as an option to earn money. We need new ways to keep traditional arts alive by encouraging those who have passion for art but can’t afford it. The western art is replacing traditional art forms in our living rooms. While the traditional art form has maintained significant identity, It is eventually losing its relevance in the global and domestic art sphere.
By making sure that artisans get the major share of profit, not middle agents will encourage artisans. Consumers' interest in traditional art forms lives when the updated designs, quality, and skill of the craftsman are preferred over quantity and bad workmanship.
India with its diverse and very very rich traditional arts, must focus on the strength of artisans and getting best deals for their craftsmen in the international market by implementing better strategies.
