Thanks to everyone who came out for the performance of ZOM-FAM at @vuesurlareleve last week. It was such a meaningful moment, to finally be in communion with an audience, but more than anything, to fall in love, all over again, with this work. This virtual statue of me is now up at La Place de la Gare Jean-Talon, in my most cherished immigrant & working class neighborhood of Parc Extension! É𝕔𝕙𝕖𝕝𝕝𝕖𝕤 𝕙𝕦𝕞𝕒𝕚𝕟𝕖𝕤 is a project by @bonjourdpt that honors 11 individuals working in different fields and neighborhoods that pays tribute to their cultural, artistic and community-engaged work within their localities. Eeeee! I am so excited to have found a home for my poem, "Building Walls." "We Mark Your Memory" is the first international anthology on the indenture, published by the School of Advanced Study, University of London. This collection gathers writing from descendants of the indenture, from South Africa to Fiji, from Seychelles to the Caribbean, whose work grapple with the legacy of plantation servitude.
