#sat slack jawed when neve and bellara started straight up talking about khachapuri and gassing up mine own national cuisine in front of me#i wish bioware didnt canonize it as indigenous to their imperialistic slave state but hey! cant split hairs in thedas! I'm still happy#incredibly insane yet simultaneously logical moment of cheeseposting by bioed where#I am trying to get to the bottom of it on twitter. some devs follow me. they saw the post#I want to track down the writer responsible and thank them personally haha#dragon age#my shots

omg this basil-ginger veggie stir fry with braised tofu was INCREDIBLE I can see this becoming a staple in my quick weekly dinner rotation. I used this recipe but doubled the sauce (except for the sugar), added a bunch of extra veggies + ginger + red pepper flakes + scallions, and made the tofu in the air fryer (my beloved). YUMMMMMMM. I want to check some labels as I suspect that the sauce mix might have a lot of sneaky added sugar (how else could it be soooo rich and decadent) but yeah this one is a KEEPER.
#jes cooks#woks are incredible how did I let mine go unused all this time#also I feel like apart from Indian food I have explored so little of other Asian cuisines#my SIL recommended this blog and I am psyched that the first recipe is such a winner#maybe I’ll make a recipe from each country in Asia for my remaining new recipes in 2023#also I’ve never lived in a place with so many different ethnic grocery stores#is that a dated term? international grocery stores?#anyway I can get literally any ingredient for any national cuisine within a 5 min drive of my house#it’s amazing and I intend to take full advantage

I finally found a Chinese place that gives a comprehensible number of pancakes with their moo shu. AND they have fried sesame balls. Today is saved (it was lost btw. just an abysmal day)
#people mistakenly say that Boston has incredible Chinese food#that’s not quite right. we have incredible Chinese American takeout#it’s not like. a hotspot for authentic cuisine#but truly nothing hits like a container of red pork and crab rangoons from a sketchy Boston Chinese place#mine#text post#posts about nothing for no one

for the first time in a long time, i threw together something to eat and it was actively bad. not because of parosmia or any other external thing, it just genuinely wasn't good. i barely finished it and was really glad it was one serving. #humbled
#think i might be going a little too crazy on the white pepper#also think i don't know rice vinegar well enough to just use it no recipe#and i fear i may also have a similar situation with tahini#yes tahini is just sesame seeds so where sesame seeds can go it can go#however! you have to keep in mind a teaspoon of tahini is 3.5 billion sesame seeds 😔 you must wield this power cautiously#i got really emboldened with that yum yum sauce the other day that was really really cool that i could just pull sauce out of the air#but that doesn't mean i can just slap together like 9 different ingredients 2 of which i'm not best friends with yet#and expect an incredibly delicious meal every time#just like 9/10 times lmao#adam yaps#i guess this is just growing pains#bc of my parosmia i can't just endlessly alternate between french and italian cooking principles#most of what i know is completely out the window without onions#so i'm having to cook in ways i historically have only experienced as a customer#and let me tell you. cooking was not 'coming naturally' to me before. i spent my first decade on earth as my mom's sous.#ofc i had a 'knack' when i started doing it solo#i have never soused for anyone cooking complex asian cuisine so unfortunately the 'knack' is not nearly as present u_u

how do they make mexican food in (most of the) usa so spectacularly bad
#i was one of those ‘i hate mexican food’ people until i actually went to mexico and realized the cuisine is incredible white americans and#canadians just don’t know how to cook it#i also think it’s bc it’s so often ‘cheap fast food’ here like it’s just so greasy and flavorless and bad#i also hate tacos. sorry. mexican restaurants here are like choose one tacos burrito or more tacos

[Thoughts about an MC who gets periods]
Getting periods in the Devildom must be pretty rough. Demons probably don’t get them, and the number of humans freely wandering around has to be incredibly low. If MC takes the form of a sheep then they likely don't have to deal with it immediately, but eventually that's going to wear off and they'll revert back to a human. Does the Devildom even have pads and tampons for sale?
MC might have to sheepishly ask Barbatos if he can acquire some in bulk from the human world. Barbatos would remain professional as always when inquiring about the use of these products and their role in daily life. He'd have to report it to the prince. They're both aware of what periods are, but only in a vague "oh yeah, humans do that" kind of way. (Perhaps in the future, Lucifer could use his secret Akuzon account to order more?)
There's surely some plant or potion that prevents them, but they're not meant for long term use. Probably tastes nasty over time and covers human skin in a weird oozing rash if consumed too often.
A month or two into the exchange program, MC might have to call up Solomon for aid.
---
“Can you help me with something?”
Solomon, not too interested in MC yet, agrees just to be amicable with his fellow human exchange student. They must be scared! They must be missing humans! “Is something on your mind?”
“You know how to do magic, right?”
What a silly question. It’s almost refreshing to hear. “I do.”
“Do you know… like, uh, smell…? Reducing magic? Something to cover up smells? Without being obvious, I mean. I feel like I stink and I was really hoping you could help me figure something out.”
How cute, he thinks. He can’t quite remember the time when he smelled fully human anymore, and he can’t really smell the distinct odor on people that demons can, but he knows demons can easily sniff out a human from afar. “Oh, don’t worry about that. It should go away on its own as you spend time here.”
MC isn’t convinced. “I don’t think it will…”
“Trust me. How are you finding Devildom cuisine? I know you’re not used to it, but eating more will help you adjust. I can whip up a few simpler dishes for you to try if you need help.”
MC is silent for a bit. Solomon thinks his job is done until they say quietly, “that’s not the problem.”
“What?”
“I’m pretty sure the brothers I live with can smell, uh, my cycle.” No use being coy about it, better get straight to the point. “They stare at me when I’m on my period. I think - no, I know - they can smell the blood. I’ve seen them sniff the air when I’m around. It's weird. And I can’t exactly stop it from happening every month.”
“Oh.” Now it’s Solomon’s turn to be quiet. He’s embarrassed and surprised, a little humbled, and also really interested in this problem. It’s not something he’s ever thought about before.
MC continues, “I think they can tell when I’m ovulating too, Asmo started lingering around more often, and Lucifer looked scarier than usual, and they all stare more, and-”
“I think I get it.” Solomon can’t stop his face from turning pink. Despite his usual grin, he doesn't think he’s ready to listen to the rest of MC’s sentence.
There should be an easy solution, but it’s something that warrants testing if MC doesn’t want the brothers noticing a sudden spell cast upon them. It could get mistaken for something malicious. Solomon says, “I might be able to help. Can you come over today?”
#maybe he can also teach MC how to turn their hands into little heaters#obey me#obey me!#omswd#obey me scenarios#obey me shall we date#obey me headcanon#obey me x mc#obey me swd#obey me fanfic#obey me solomon#obey me solomon x mc#obey me mc#obey me hcs#tmi but mine get so bad it's not unusual for me to faint. i get like a 60 second warning via blurry vision and then i pass out.#i would not survive the devildom lol i'd get devoured in some random alleyway. wouldn't even leave the house for a week.

Ugh. Weenie Alert ahead but when I ordered tandoori chicken from my favorite Indian place last night I one hundred percent selected mild spice level but what I got had to be medium at the minimum which is still too hot for me. I did eat half of it because it was still fucking tasty and I didn't want to waste it or my money, but it's the day after and I have a lot of tummy trouble and acid reflux now
#damn#and it's not like I went in not knowing the spice content because I have ordered their tandoori chicken before and it was mild#and also the most incredible chicken I have had ever had when I first tried it#sorry Filipino adobo chicken you're in second place now#I took a gamble in eating it because I HAVE gotten asthma attacks from medium spice before and one sent me to the hospital#especially risky seeing as I'm just barely on the mend from pneumonia and already have some resp issues from it#also total mouth ouch I was guzzling down my drink every three bites#but damn tandoori chicken is so good 😭#it very well might be sacrilegious but in order to eat the rest I'll have to add sour cream to the side#not sure what if anything besides lemon is ever used with it but I need something to neutralize the heat#if I had plain yogurt I'd use that because that I know is sometimes used in Indian cuisine#honestly if I had some orange juice to drink with it I've found that works better for the heat than dairy milk/ cream#spice weenie#food
