“The golden age of America begins right now” my dude groceries are expensive and will not get cheaper overnight.
“We will be the envy of every nation” we’re not. And will not be.
Just. Eugh.
“A tide of change is sweeping over the country.” Sure is. That is correct observation.
“We now have a government that cannot manage a single issue from home” YOU MISMANAGED COVID?
YOU ARE BRING UP IMMIGRANTS NOW??
“They don’t have a home anymore. That’s interesting.” Those rich people have second and third homes and can always afford more. Shut the fuck up. If you care about people care about the people who cannot afford such things.
“I was saved by god to make America great again.” I cannot stress enough how much I dislike any god that could’ve sent this man to us.
“Meet every crisis with dignity, power and strength.” Remember when you sharpied on the path of a hurricane.
LIBERATION DAY??? FROM WHAT???
“Most consequential election
” yeah. Sure. Sure is.
Oh no not the historic executive orders— COMMON SENSE???
Declaring a national emergency at our southern border (and receiving standing ovation for it), beginning the process of deportations for “criminals” and sending troops to our border. Which. Surely won’t escalate violence at all.
I’m not familiar with this illegal aliens act from the 1700s but I fear I’m about to be very aware about it. I cannot imagine this is anything good.
DRILL BABY DRILL??? THATS GONNA SOLVE THE NATIONAL ENERGY EMERGENCY?? YOURE SHITTING ME.
“We will be a rich nation again, and it will be—
ENDING THE GREEN NEW DEAL, USING THE OIL UNDER OUR FEET WHILE CALIFORNIA BURNS. Fucking hell.
“We will tariff and tax foreign countries to enrich our citizens.” Somehow. I don’t believe that will enrich us.
Establishing the ERS and DOGE. Ough.
And he’s gonna bring back free speech while criticizing Seth Meyers for poking at him
.. and he’s gonna stop political persecution. Yeah sure. Sure. Sure sure sure.
SOCIALLY ENGINEER RACE AND GENDER INTO PUBLIC AND PRIVATE PLACES?? THAT WAS HAPPENINGG.
It’s official policy. Only Male and Female. It’s really going to be official policy. Oh my fucking god. From a party that denies climate change. Oh my fucking god. I’m nonbinary and that’s about to be a fucking challenge.
“The wars we never get into.” Didn’t we worry about ww3 last time?
“That’s what I wanna be, a peacemaker and unifier.” YOURE NOT. YOU ARE NOT.
WHY ARE YOU CHANGING THE GULF OF MEXICO??
“foolishly given to the country of Panama” ITS ON THEIR LAND AND THEY CONTROL IT?? HELLO??? Yet China is operating the Panama Canal???
“As we liberate our nation” from WHAT. What are you liberating us from!?
“Pursue our manifest destiny” didnt that genocide natives— PLANT A FLAG ON MARS?
Yeah no this entire speech has been. A little concerning to say the least. And it just keeps going and going.
“Full of compassion, courage, and exceptionalism.” You are the least compassionate person here. Please.
I just. Don’t feel great after that. Hm.

I know most of you aren't Jewish, but this might be some insight. So, Jews have our rituals and whatnot, we have the joke about whether the holiday is "they tried to kill us", "we survived" and "let's eat" but even with our happy celebrations we keep a darker undertone. With the smashing of a glass at a wedding, it's a reminder of our tragedies.
What's my point? The culture makes a point to remind us of our struggles, our oppression. We are ALLOWED to feel woe and suffering. However, we aren't to just lay down and die. We're a people of fighters. If we didn't fight, we'd be dead.
So, to my friends out there who are afraid of what's to come, who already face oppression everyday, you are allowed to hurt. Please do. Take some time to feel your emotions deeply and fully. But, then go out there and keep fighting. The nazis want us dead. They want us suffering. They want us to wallow to the point we have no energy to stop them, so they can stomp all over us.
Don't let the Nazis win, do not roll over and show your belly, do not stop fighting.

“The Kennedy Administration was a magic moment in American history when gallant men danced with beautiful women, when great deeds were done, when artists, poets, and writers met at the White House, and the barbarians behind the walls were held back.” - Theodore White

Con: Cant sleep from the sheer amount of dread over feeling like the country the little girl I used to be felt so much pride and love for is slipping away faster than I can grasp for it. Its feeling like we were finally making some progress in the topics I was involved in, proud of doing my duty of an "active community member" as i'd always been raised to be. I did it the right way- how was that not enough? But now realizing that the thousands of strands of carefully braided thread touched by the hands of millions to build a better tapestry for ourselves and our children to come, can be torn apart by the will of so few.
Pro- 1500 words progress on the next ao3 chapter.

Just saw someone (non-American) laughing about how Donald trump pulled us out of the WHO. I get a lot of people think that people in the U.S. “brought this on themselves” or whatever tf. But y’all need to realize that there is a LOT of us who did not want him in office and are terrified right now. I think a lot of y’all just also don’t understand how the voting system works in the U.S. There are U.S. citizens who are over 18 that cannot vote because they’re homeless, there are people in the U.S. who cannot vote because they unable to get off work to do so. When I went to cast my ballot on election day, the woman in front of me had to leave because she was going to be late for her shift. You have to have to vote in a certain place as well - you can’t just vote wherever there’s a poll. There are many other reasons why people in the U.S. are unable to vote. This isn’t by accident either. There’s a reason why our elections are held on Tuesdays, and it’s not to make our lives easier. There are a bunch of fucking roadblocks when it comes to voting - not to mention the fact that certain mail-in votes were discounted for various reasons or “lost”, and voters weren’t alerted in time to recast their ballot. Not to mention voter suppression for Native Americans.
My point is that the election was a close race, and just because he won doesn’t mean that the majority of Americans wanted him to win. Trump had about 1.5% more Americans vote for him than for Harris. Not even 50% of Americans voted for him. Less than half of people in our country who voted, voted for him. It was close, but it still wasn’t 50%. So yes, a lot of Americans are terrified and upset right now, and a majority of those people didn’t bring on themselves because they weren’t the ones who voted for him. So instead of laughing about how millions of Americans are and will be suffering, maybe be a little compassionate.

The Tuskegee Airmen - A view into U.S. history, and how Donald Trump yet again threatens diversity and downplays the accomplishments of people of color
The past few days have shown that Donald Trump and his current administration are actively harming education, diversity, inclusion, and working to erase the work and accomplishments of POC in the U.S., not that it is a surprise to anyone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Tuskegee Airmen were a group within the U.S. Air Force that served out of Tuskegee, Alabama during WW2. These airmen were part of an all black pilot school, as well as the 332nd Fighter Group and the 447th bombardment. The Tuskegee Airmen faced many challenges as black men in the U.S. Air Force, but despite all the roadblocks they faced, they were an extremely successful unit. The airmen flew over 180 combat sorties (missions) without losing a single bomber. (Air Force Histiorical Support Division).
Additionally, The Tuskegee Airmen prescribed to the theory of winning a “Double Victory”, which meant winning the fight against fascism and racism. They are considered trailblazers for not only helping forge the path for Black people in military leadership, but also political leadership. Having to work under extreme conditions, both physically and racially, shows the strength and perseverance of this unit, and their importance to the civil rights movement.
During his inauguration, Donald Trump signed an executive order to end all DEI programs in the U.S., which directly affected the Air Force since they use the Tuskegee Airmen in their diversity trainings. The decision left many in the Air Force frustrated as the Tuskegee Airmen have such an important story, but in order to compliant with the executive order they had to pull the videos and trainings.
In addition to the Tuskegee Airmen being pulled, they also took back material involving the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASPs).
On 1/26/2025 the Air Force was informed that they could continue showing the materials regarding the Tuskegee Airmen and the WASPs. But this new executive order and Donald Trumps administration continue to threaten diversity and acceptance. While the material was reinstated, the Air Force has said that they are only able to add the teaching back as history teachings, not as diversity sensitivity trainings - which is what the material was originally used as.
Often times there are many moments in history that are whitewashed, false, or just forgotten because it involves POC. While it’s great the Air Force was able to keep the material in some capacity it should have never been threatened in the first place, and there are now no diversity trainings.
As U.S. Americans it is 1) important for us to be educated and informed about people and events in our history and in the world. Schools do not always cover stuff like this, so it’s up to us to seek out this information. And 2) call out hateful behavior when it is being presented. Trump and his administration may not want an inclusive country, but that does not mean we have to follow those same beliefs.

Ik this is gonna sound stupid, but I'm scared y'all. My family has always been MAJOR Trump and Musk supporters, honestly going so far that it borders on worship.
Tomorrow will be the first day I have seen any of my family since the inauguration, and I'm afraid that they will show support for what Elon Musk did. I'm afraid they will talk positively about it in church, which is all kinds of messed up.
The prospect of having to walk out of church, find a new church, and also making my family mad at me has been keeping me up at night, but I can't stay in a church that openly supports that.

Thoughts on recent events.
I'm writing this at a smooth 12:58 am. It's taken me some time to process what our future may hold with Trump back in office. As someone who is hispanic, a woman, and a lesbian with a trans sibling, I've never been more heartbroken. I've never been more heartbroken and angry in my life. While I'm not as worried for my own safety as a more racially ambiguous hispanic girl that gets called wasian more than I'm called hispanic, I'm terrified for my hispanic, poc, and trans friends.
After watching Bishop Mariann Budde deliver that beautiful Sermon, begging that man to be nothing but merciful, something that all Christians, no matter the denomination, should strive to be. Yet how was she treated? She was told that she should be deported. Budde's Sermon showed me what real Christians are.
Real Christians are merciful, kind, welcoming. They dont separate families at the border, rip families apart at their own Churches, they don't make kids around the world contemplate suicide because they dont think they could ever be accepted for being queer, they don't force 14 year old girls to carry their abusers baby. Real Christians are people who are compassionate, people who help their neighbors, no matter how they identify or appear.
God wouldn't want his children to suffer in that way so many are about to. God wouldn't want this, he wouldn't want any of this. This is purely the work of the Devil and I firmly believe that is why he didn't swear on the bible. Our country has been touched by the Devil and the only thing anyone can do now is throw bricks.
Peaceful Protest unfortunately can go so far. Me saying this can coexist with my identity as a Christian because while I believe in peace, sometimes we need to get our hands dirty to get change done.
Who will throw the first brick? Only time will tell.
