a piece i’ve been working on for a good long while now, about a year or so o-|-<

how do you envision billy and stu’s bedrooms? cause every scene in my head it’s completely different to how it was in the last and i need to have the same thought whenever a scene comes across in one of their bedrooms

^^Alright so I have actually drawn Billy's room! this is the background of a piece that will be on my patreon once i feel like i have enough content to actually launch it. I wouldn't say this is exactly canon, I started working on it before I started writing Debaser and there's some stuff i would switch up, like some of the movie posters. There's also the non-canon Maureen VHS which they obv don't have because they didn't film that. But yeah this is a basic idea of what Billy's room looks like to me.

As best as I can tell this is the bedroom they shot as Stu's room.

^^As you can see it has a ridiculous number of doors, and we know the door to the attic is behind the camera because that's where Sidney goes during the chase. We also know the two doors on the left side lead into the hallway, again because of the chase scene. The door on the right I'm going to guess leads into a bathroom, because another door leading to the hallway or into another room would be sheer insanity. This one bedroom has four fucking doors and none of them seem to lead to a closet.

^^^From the movie we can see more of the right side of the room. There appears to be a fireplace mantel, likely bricked off and not functional. Stu is using it as a shelf, it looks like there's some tapes and maybe a trophy there. We can also see his TV and some posters on the wall- someone has made a post where they identified these posters but I can't find it rn (thank you tumblr's broken search function). If anyone knows the post I'm talking about please feel free to link it!

^^^There's also at least three things that look like they could be one of Billy's flannels in this room. We never see Stu wearing blue or plaid in the movie and imo from his costuming it doesn't seem like his style so this detail is pretty funny to me. Billy is just leaving his repetitive wardrobe all over Stu's room. Gee I wonder why.

So that's basically Stu's room in the movie. The way I see it in Debaser is a little bit different, but in many ways the same. First big difference: a maximum of three doors. One to the hall, one to the bathroom and one to the attic storage space. Two doors to the hallway just feels homophobic. Another difference is that I imagine his TV somewhere at the foot of the bed, just makes for a much more comfortable watching experience.

I also imagine him with a lot more on the walls.

^^^Chip Sutphin's (also a Matthew lillard character) room from Serial Mom is a good example with all the Fangoria posters and stuff. Imo Stu is definitely reading fangoria.

(Unrelated side note can I just say i can’t see Chip's girlfriend Birdie without seeing pre-transition Billy. The Blue plaid, the short brown hair, the horror obsession) ⬇️

Like, this is Chips girlfriend and best friend. This movie came out in 1994. I can't. ⬇️

Overall I see it as a lot more packed and messy than Billy's. There's more on the walls and more on the floor. I also think he's got a big ass shelf of tapes and video games, and probably some leftover action figures from when he was a kid. I think he kept more of his childhood stuff like that than Billy did. He doesn't play with his action figures anymore obv, but he hasn't thrown them out.

So yeah, that's sort of an idea what their rooms look like in my mind! I do plan on drawing Stu's room at some point but these kinds of detailed room drawings take me so much time, I'm not sure exactly when that will happen.

Lotta True Crime

Summary: A blurb in which Steven comes home from work and finds you watching/listening to a true crime documentary, again. 

Warnings: I don't talk about anyone specific but the Y/N is listening to a docu about a serial killer. There isn't any actual mention of murder in full detail but it is there, so be warned of that. But overall this is actually domestic as hell and wholesome.  

Author’s Snip: I'm a true crime nut and I often wonder what my various fictional boytoys would think about it I sort of fixated on Steven for a while which led to this. I feel like he'd be slightly off-put by it but would get used to it at some point. Also, the idea of him and his true crime-loving partner just info-dumping about their interests is just so funny and cute.

It sounds a lot like what you would hear a husband back in the 1950s answer if you asked him what his favorite part of the day was. But it was Steven's honest answer. He loved coming home after a long day at work and seeing you preparing dinner. There was something so domestic about it that he absolutely loved. Of course, he'd usually come in and help you make dinner instead of lounging around, just so that you two can have a nice moment as a couple.

There was one thing that always stuck out from the whole coming home to the partner cooking dinner daydream though.

The stuff you usually had playing in the background.

"-I mean. It was complete madness. All these people started digging at this dumping ground and they found so many bodies in different stages of decay. It took a few days simply because of how many they were finding, you know? You would be digging up one you just found and then you find a part from another and then you'd have to dig up that one, and so on." the voice on the TV explained as Steven locked the flat's door behind him and hung up all his things.

"What made it worse was that there were more. His accomplice said that he had admitted that he had more victims at another dumping site but he never said where that was before he died. So there are more somewhere out there and we don't know where they are." the voice added.

Steven wants to be surprised that there's a true crime documentary playing on the TV while you were happily cooking dinner, and yeah sure the details are especially gruesome from what he's hearing, but this isn't the first time. This is a normal occurrence, actually, and Steven's just learned to roll with it. Even if one time he came home and the TV had an episode of a show that talked about murders in relationships that talked about how a wife poisoned her husband via lacing his food with something, and you were making one of Steven's favorite meals.

He crosses the flat to you in the kitchen, wrapping his arms around you from behind and looking over what you were doing. "It looks like it's coming along nicely." he comments before he kisses you on the cheek. "Thanks," you replay, "I found it in a little recipe note and wanted to test it out." you explain. "Do you want any help?" Steven asks drawing away a little.

"No. I've got everything covered so far. Some stuff needs to sit for a bit. Maybe then I'll need some help." you tell him while also turning your head towards him.

A soft stare ensues between the two of you. You both bask in the nice feeling of being close to each other and having a sweet and domestic moment.

"It was believed that this body found drifting in the river was actually a victim, whose body was washed out of its grave from the heavy storms and rainwater that flooded the bank, since the accomplice said that the old dumping site was along the river. However, no one knows how far the body floated downstream, so they wouldn't know exactly where the site was along the river." a narrating voice said from the TV, soiling the moment.

You blush at the interruption, "You can change that if you want. I've heard of this case before anyway.".

Steven chuckles a little bit. "I don't really mind, love," he says. "You did overhear that one time I was watching a documentary and it went into heavy detail about the Egyptian embalming process." he recalls. "So what if I hear about some old killer's body count and possible dumping spots." Steven concludes.

"It's your version of what Egypt is to me. So how am I to judge." Steven adds.

Well 1, love your work! This AU is so cute and full of potential trauma it makes my mind flow with ideas... one of them being REALLY trauma heavy that has me in a vice grip rn...

So anyways- your post where you showed how in your AU catnap removed dogdays legs... were the murders of the hour in the same way? Because I just- Imagining Catnap dropping an anvil on some poor soul and them getting crushed slowly after the initial impact while catnap watches in apathy- has not left my mind. It's just Saw death traps at that point.

And about the whole "Going back to the cartoon" thing catnap wanted... would that not be suicide? A fully fledged, free thinking being going back to being with a world bound by a script and it's existence only continues if it's makers wish for it seem like killing yourself with extra steps. Again- this Au has so much Trauma potential I just HMMMMMMMMMMM-

And Oc's... well who do you want to hear about? I got a few lying around... well only 2 poppy playtime ones at the moment (and like one is kinda hard coded for another AU)... not to mention all the ones I have not drawn up yet that lie within my mind.

You have no idea how much I've had to edit the scripts and drawings I make for the blog, because I go too dark too quickly for this toon AU.

I'm gonna go on a long ramble. Bear with me.

Like - there's this one script I still need to rewrite. But the premise is that Angel and DogDay are in Home Sweet Home, striking up a conversation - though Angel is injured.

Angel: ...Do you ever just... Stop? *[Angel eyes DD, as DD is in the process of sniffing like an actual dog, walking along the walls]* DD: What do you mean? *[He pauses to look at them, his tail wagging]* Angel: This. *[They gesture to his whole self, which causes him to finally fall on to the ground with a yip]* Angel: We're being hunted by a monster, close to death, and you're acting all... *Looney*. DD: That's what I do, Angel. I was brought here to make people feel happy. Safe. *[His tail begins to wag again as he makes his way to Angel]* Angel: Great. *[Unamused]* At least we'll die laughing. DD: You know, laughter is stronger than you'd think. *[A little "Uh-huh" from Angel.]* No matter how bad things get, you just have to laugh! Even if you feel like you've lost all hope, unsure about tomorrow... Not knowing what you did wrong, wondering how the world collapsed around you... *[DD grabs on to an ear, his smile turning more upsetting. The background getting darker. Maybe emphasize some of the in game model]* DD: Knowing that deep down, it's your fault for their deaths and already missing your chains because you deserve them --- *[He immediately switches back, sunshine and smiles]* DD: A laugh can chase away the gloom! Angel: *[Disturbed]* ...You want to talk about it, Pup?

So, they're all thoroughly traumatized, that's for sure!

I plan on drawing a comic that takes place during the Hour Of Joy, but yes. CatNap has killed some humans with falling anvils, endless pits, trapping them in repeating hallways until they go insane. Humans cannot survive the same punishment a toon takes, you know. >u>

But you know, he's not entirely heartless. Just angy. A poor lil meow meow

Oh, it's just CatNap being unable to cope, being ripped out of his comfort zone and never being able to adjust with the horrible things going on in Playcare. Though the Critters in this AU are not the same as the In-Game Bigger Bodies, there's still been human experiments. CatNap would much rather take scripts and limited freedom over what he was given... You are right though. That is one of the themes I wanted to try and hit with him. Especially if I follow through with an ending of Angel adopting the Critters. Then the aftermath of the trauma can really sink in.

Hey Neyla! I hope it’s ok that I ask but is there a brush setting you prefer on procreate? I’ve been inspired by your art for eons but I can’t comprehend photoshop. You can totally disregard this if you don’t use procreate though!

Hello! I don't know how long this message's been sitting in my inbox because i didnt check in for a while 🥺 I hope you get to see this either way!

I don't use procreate unfortunately, but I can explain the settings I use for my brushes on CSP in general, and if it works like any other art software then you should have similar settings on procreate

for sketches/linework, I will very often use an opaque & slightly textured round brush. the most important for me is for the brush to have that fuzzy sort of texture that gives the impression of using a pen/marker on paper.

note that i am actually terrible when it comes to line weight, it's definitely not something i work on a lot other than in backgrounds, so I don't actually bother too much with pen pressure settings.

the only rule I abide to is to always set the minimum value above 0 (anywhere between 20-30 is what I use). this is because when I started drawing, I used to be very heavy-handed and would wear out my pens too quickly-- so setting a minimum can help you become more aware of how hard you're pressing on your pen and make gentler strokes.

another fun little setting i use is opacity: like I said, I use opaque brushes for lines, but I like to reduce a tiny bit of opacity when brushing very lightly to give that impression of pen on paper.

There's a couple more brushes I use for coloring or rendering; the major sticking point being that I don't use pen pressure to control brush size that much. If I want to make thinner/smaller strokes, I'll simply reduce the brush size because it's easier for me to control!

(also, opacity is something I'll use a lot more when I'm working on colors)

just know that this is my way of handling it, and it may not suit your style. pen pressure may be another artist's best friend, so please make sure you try out what works best for you :)

finally, some art softwares come with stabilization. I don't use it personally, unless i'm actually trying to do really smooth curves (which is practically never). stabilization can also make CSP lag a lot with higher values and large brushes. the use of stabilization doesn't make you a bad artist or a lazy one, and not using it can make your lines look a tiny bit wobbly if you're not used to doing quick strokes. use stabilization at your own leisure!

on a different note, i know this wasn't part of the question but I'm bringing this up since it's something I tend to hear from people who say they were inspired by my art (thank you by the way🥺💕!!) : don't be misled by artstyles that "make it look easy"! my sketches may look very simple and natural because i'm more adept at bringing out the essential and discarding details in a design. this is not necessarily what you want for your art style; maybe you like drawing details a lot, maybe you prefer the lazy way out going straight to the point. neither are good or bad, only what you like to do matters.

also, if you're frustrated by your work, don't be afraid to draw over it as many times as you want, adjusting things with the lasso tool or deform if something feels off then drawing over again. sometimes you'll be satisfied with your first take, and sometimes you'll need 3 bases before its acceptable (examples below)-- it all depends on your mood, energy, motivation, desired outcome, format, or even just randomness

Thanks so so much from @verba-writing for the tag! I had such a fun time reading your answers too and I'm very excited for paranormal romance 😍

I feel like I wanna flag that a lot of my answers are very anime/gaming-sphere oriented and I hope I'm not totally alienating my mutuals by revealing just HOW MUCH I'm not a book person lololol But this is with what we're working:

The Questions are:

1. What was the first part of your wip that you created?

The very first thing I made was the high premise: It was synthesized from the Overly Sarcastic Productions question "What if all the Kings Under the Mountain came back...?" and then I added the context "...in a Nuclear Crisis to discuss piece?" And in my head, it was this HBO-style modern fantasy Game of Thrones meets West Wing type deal. But then... I didn't want to write the modern piece. (The modern piece should be written by people in countries from all over Europe about what it means to be a hero in various cultures.)

So I set it in 1800s fantasy world instead!

2. If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?

The first arc would be Dance in the Game by Zaq

The second arc would be Lacrimosa by Kalafina

The Gods' Arc would be Paper Boquet by Mili

3. Who are your favourite characters you've made? Why?

Is it to cliché to be like "my current self-insert protagonist is my favorite character I've ever made"? Her and my antagonist are just THE BEST and I love them.

4. What other pieces of media do you think would share a fan base for your story?

Mmm, I think Untitled Yssaia Game's story would appeal to queer Game of Thrones fans who could FEEL the straightness in GoT, especially if they also like anime. I would hope I could get general anime fans as well as Arcane and Genshin Impact fans, but I feel like those are too mainstream and Yssaia is not. Realistically, I think I'm gonna get the Wadanohara people and the Ib people and, if I get really lucky, the To the Moon people.

5. What has been your biggest struggle with your wip?

Marketing lol -- explaining what it is to people in a way that they realize they want it.

6. Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!

Look at her! She is a six-legged, six-eyed slug cat called a Maret. Marets fill the same role as ocelots in Yssaia, except they're more semi-aquatic like otters and their skin has a stressball-like texture.

7. How do your characters get around? (ex: trains, horses, cars, dragons, etc.)

They walk or ride Rumateurs (which are alpaca-like beings with ossicones) or take ships or airships or trains. I don't like writing about travel that much though so it is a background element.

8. What part of your wip are you working on rn?

I am pre-editing the first arc for my alpha readers and the third arc has another 50k to 100k words to draft. We're at like 250k words total right now and it is so unwieldy 😭😭😭

9. What aspects (tropes, maybe?) of your wip do you think will draw people in?

10. What are your hopes for your wip?

I was just diatribing about this earlier but the DREAM is to turn it into an RPGmaker adventure game and have it go viral and make a million bucks off it. I'd love to be the next Undertale but it'll never happen because I am not positioned to be the next Undertale, you know?

Hi! I'm the Anon who asked about fanart, like I said I really love your redesigns, and I tried sending an Ask like this previously but I'm not sure if it went through. If it did, please ignore this! And sorry for the really long Ask, I'm just really excited about the art <3 Like I was saying, your redesigns are awesome! Like, the coloring, the concepts, the stories behind them are all really cool! I found you after I saw your Azrael art, and I just fell in love! I couldn't help but draw fanart, since I've always loved JPV/Azrael (Also! Since you stated before that your redesign of Azrael is fem, I was wondering if you gave her another name than Jean-Paul? Also Also, to make life easier I'm referring to Az as She/Her the entire Ask) and your art is just so motivating! I did a whole panel redraw, which I think is the first time I've finished a redraw.

This is the original Panel, it's in Issue 2 (I think) of Batman: The Sword of Azrael. Context: Batman is investigating in Switzerland when he nearly busts the Order of Dumas' operations, so the Order send Azrael after him and they fight since they're not yet allies. Bats thinks Az has the disadvantage since she doesn't have snowshoes (and he does), but Az is apparently immune to the laws of physics and nearly kills him.

Like in the original Panel, Bats is trying to defend himself with his cloak, and Az continues to not care about silly things like friction <3. (No but seriously, she's wearing clothes that look really heavy, how is she moving through the snow? Especially with sword and wings? Magic? Spite? My disregard of the laws of physics for the sake of coolness? Probably) The Background nearly killed me, I'm never drawing snow again.

The motivation didn't run dry at the Panel Redraw, so I also have a bunch of sketches! And Questions, if you want to answer them.

When I saw that Az only had one eye in this, and presumably a scar on the other, the first thing I thought of was Lehah/Biis, who was one of Az's original enemies in Batman: The Sword of Azrael. Lehah/Biis also has one eye and a scar on the other, which was given to him by the former Azrael (JPV's father) before Lehah killed him. Lehah was an enemy of the Order, and Biis (Who was a demon lord) was Azrael's (The angels) greatest enemy in St. Dumas lore. Lehah became Biis' host in a similar way that JPV is Azrael's host. Is there a connection, or is it just a coincidence? Does Biis/Lehah still exist or?

Speaking of the Order, is that still a thing in your redesigns? Or does Az have a completely different backstory now? Also, the wings! How did she get them? Was she born with them, or was it an experiment gone wrong? Or right?

Also, does Knightfall still happen, or something similar? Or is there another reason for Azbats? On that, does Bats still take in Az?

I would love to hear everything about her! Any tidbit or fact, I am actually in love (Platonic) with her and would love to hear any details at all about her! Thank You!

NOW FOR YOUR QUESTIONS:

Her name is still Jean-Paul, it's just pronounced like the pants (jeans) instead of the French version of John. The Order had already picked out the name before knowing that her sex was female instead of male (like they'd expected), so they just switched the pronunciation. They're lazy like that (I considered changing her name to Joan-Paul, like Joan of Arc, but it both looks AND sounds weird, so I didn't)

The Order of St. Dumas IS also a thing, yeah :] In my AU, The Agency worked alongside the Order to create Azrael. She was basically lab-grown like a homunculus according to the Order's wishes, thus the wings! They wanted her to look like an angel Az also has inexplicable longevity because of the genetic experimentation, so she's Azrael-ing long after Bruce retires as Batman

....I have a confession. The only comic I've read with Azrael in it is Order of the World, the rest I picked up from fanon or just reading around. I didn't know anything about Biis when I thought up the design; the missing eye is a fun coincidence. Thank you for telling me about him, though! I'm sure Biis/Lehah exists somewhere, who knows what Azrael gets up to when she's not in Gotham? The missing eye itself comes from Batman himself, actually. When Azrael first stops by Gotham, he's super stressed out and in the middle of a VERY ROUGH YEAR, so he ends up accidentally nailing her in the eye with a Batarang. It's meant to connect her with that passage I drew her alongside before, Matthew 7:5 :]

The events of Knightfall sort of happen! Azrael makes two trips to Gotham, and only in the first one does she dress up as Azbats, since she thinks that Batman isn't doing enough to save Gotham and she needs to "become" the new (and better) Batman in his stead. As for Knightfall, in my AU, Azrael and Batman remain enemies (because I love evil women), so Knightfall is actually a team-up between Bane and Azrael after Az gets driven out of Gotham the first time. Azrael breaks Bane out of prison and whisks him off to Gotham to help her beat the shit out of Batman, basically. And it works for a little while! But Bane wants to conquer Gotham alone and also finds Az super duper annoying, so he betrays her. Like in Knightfall, Az almost kills Bane, but instead of deciding not to she just gets beat and then runs away out of Gotham like a coward again

She doesn't come back to Gotham for a few decades after being kicked out the second time. She hears about Bruce's retirement and comes back expecting she can finally save the city, only to be immediately thwarted by both the New Batman and Blight, the latter of which she comes to be both a fascination and enemy of (I'm still slowly thinking about my version of Batman Beyond, so this is subject to change)

Bonus fun fact: I think her and my version of Jane Doe would get along. Or relate to each other. Girls with evil scientist parents who grew them in a vat and sent them out to kill people after manipulating them for their entire lives

I actually just commissioned some art on one particular scene which I am beyond excited about and may well get addicted to that process (note to self, check whether hubby is cool with second mortgage purely for multiple art commissions…) so that is kind of a dream come true (I’m getting WIP sketches etc and doing a lot of happy screaming!) but aside from that one…

There are scenes I feel like I’ve described quite well which could be artable but for others the actual picture stayed mostly in my head because I felt the detail would clog the narrative and I think I describe sound and smell better than visual anyway I think? There definitely one I’d love to see but not sure I’ve ever adequately described Estera for anyone to draw her (tho they’d be welcome to try!) but… if I could magically crystallise any image I’ve written it would be the photo she’s looking at here:

Her gaze shifted to the new photo, framed in blue, that she had recently added to her gallery. Yes, and in the last few months… everything had suddenly changed again. But this time in an indisputably good way. Because the imaginary hero had somehow shed the imaginary bit and become her friend. The two of them grinned manically out of the hasty selfie - hair dishevelled, flushed with adrenaline and drenched in seawater but vividly, irrepressibly alive.

Which was taken just after this scene. And yes, Scooter has destroyed another expensive suit 😏

56 What’s something about your writing that you pride yourself on?

I’m going to try to flip something I often worry is a failing in my stories because the reason I haven’t “fixed” it is because it is actually the bit I feel I’m best at and certainly is the stuff that comes out when I get excited with a sudden NEED to write immediately. So… even though I suspect it makes my fic slooow and the plot languishes in the background…

A thing I love doing and I think I’m getting better at is exploration of the thoughts and feelings of a character in a specific moment/scene. Usually through an inner monologue, sometimes interspersed with dialogue, but I just love picking apart a character’s mind spiral to show where they are mentally on a matter, where they came from and maybe edging them towards some progress. Scott and Virgil are the usual victims of this but I often do it to an OC as well, with the intent of showing one of the main characters’ development through external eyes.

Again, it doesn’t make for exciting, action-filled fic and I sometimes feel guilty for posting 3 chapters covering about 10 mins of events but… actually I enjoy reading that kind of thing from other people so clearly I believe it’s legit story telling when they do it so I’m trying to give myself permission to believe it is when the writer is me :)

at first, lucifer hadn’t trusted you in the slightest. sure, he’d technically been the one to choose you as the new applicant, but he hadn’t actually looked at your application, something that was definitely coming back to bite him.

at least you weren’t part of the coven that mammon was entangled in, he had thought to himself, trying to look on the bright side, dim as it was.

slowly though, you grew on him. though some of your pursuits had ended poorly, like when you’d accidentally burned off your eyebrows making a potion, or had a spell go wrong and made everyone in rad only able to tell the truth, he began to feel more amused by them than irritated, a sure sign you were endearing yourself to him.

and some of your skills were quite helpful, he had to admit. when belphie had gotten sick with some form of rare illness, you’d saved the day by cooking up a remedy when even simeon and solomon were unable to. and some of your teas and herb mixtures were useful, not to mention delicious.

now, lucifer mused, he was completely head over heels for you. sure, there were still things that you did that gone on his nerves, or thins you said that he didn’t fully agree with, but you truly were one of a kind and now incredibly important to him. plus, your sense of humor was amusing, even if he’d never admit it.

(for halloween you’d decided to dress up as a classic witch, complete with a black hat and broomstick. somehow, he’d been convinced to join you as a vampire, and diavolo had been a werewolf. it was silly and lowbrow, but he had one of the pictures saved as his phone background.)

“what are you thinking so hard about?” you ask him, drawing him back to the present. a grimoire is open in front of you, and he can see your chicken-scratch handwriting in the margins.

“you,” he replies simply, and you make a face.

“what about me?”

“i didn’t really like you when we first met,” he confesses, “so it’s quite strange how much that has changed.”

“you know, i get that a lot,” you reply, unbothered. “a lot of people find me irritating.”

“i cannot fathom why.”

“oh, shut it,” you chide light-heartedly. “if you keep going i might have to curse you or something.”

the threat, which you used often, was empty, something you both knew. “right,” lucifer says, giving you a smile. “well, we don’t want that. i’ll be on my best behavior from now on, i swear.”

Summary - Jack always knew you were safe.

Warnings - A hint of angst but mostly fluff

“What are you drawing now?”

“You need to guess,”

Jack chuckled as his eyes were closed, a cold cloth was over his eyes as you were dancing your finger along his bare chest, tracing some patterns that were both subtle and yet obvious at the same time as Jack was perched on the couch.  The radio was softly playing in the background while you were tending to Jack, making sure he was well-rested and taking his time healing.  Although he had fast and rapid healing physically, he still had to deal with constant headaches and migraines every once in a while from recent jobs and monster hunting.  This last job was intense on him, so you made it a point to get him off his feet, literally, and get his mind back to a pleasant place.

Which brought you two to this little game that you loved to to play with him: guess the pattern.

Half of it was playful and light, and some of the game did bring some alluring feelings for certain.  But it was all about making Jack comfortable and unwinding from all the stress he had to do for several hours at a time.  It was one of his favorite things to do with you, it made all the stress melt away and all of the tension inside of his body fly out the window.  You knew him long enough to know when he had tension, unresolved anger from a job going wrong, or anything negative you could read both on his face and in the air when he was in the room. 

“Okay, I think I got it….an elephant,” He guessed, a smirk on his lips as you sighed in defeat.  He chuckled, reached out blindly to take your hand in his, and kiss the back of it, “Amor, you need to figure out new things to draw,” 

“Well I don’t want to make it too hard for you,” you commented, Jack’s smile getting big as you reached up to touch the washcloth.  It was no longer cold and chilly, you humming and taking it carefully off of Jack’s eyes, “Let’s get a fresh cloth on you.  How’s your headache?”

“Better,” He replied as you got up, walking over to the kitchen sink and running through another set of cold water in the cloth, “I don’t need another cloth I think,”

“Better to be safe than sorry,” You hummed as you got the cloth cold again.  As you were ringing most of the water out, you heard the couch shift a bit behind you, “Don’t you dare move!”

“Amor..I feel better I promise,” He tried to reason, yet you walked back over with the washcloth, seeing him sprawled out on the couch and watching you with love in his bright eyes.  Head against the armrest with a pillow propped, his button-down shirt open to show his bare chest that still had some bruises and scrapes evident from his recent monster hunting job, and his hair disheveled from you massaging his scalp.

“I’m not taking chances with you,” You explained, kneeling back down next to him and smiling briefly.  Before you could place the newly cold cloth on his face, Jack took your wrist gently in his fingers to pause you.  You both locked eyes, Jack having a twinkle in his eyes that you knew far too well.  He knew that you were worried about his job, how you would stay up at night, and wonder if he would come back in one piece.  No matter how many times he would tell you he knew what he was doing and that there was no need to be worried, you still worried.  You never said it, only showing it in tending to him as soon as he got home and made sure he was physically well.

Jack knew, and he had to say it.

“You take such good care of me, and I don’t think I can be this strong as I am now without you,” He explained, rubbing your wrist with his thumb as you kept your eyes on him,” I know it scares you sometimes when I go out and hunt monsters, and no matter how many times I tell you not to worry, you do—“

“I merely do because I love you,” You gently interrupted him, seeing him close his lips, “I love you far too much to let you suffer, Jack.  I know I’ll always worry, but as long as you come back to me in one piece, then I’ll be okay with it,”

Jack leaned up to kiss you, placing his spare hand on your cheek and keeping you close as you kissed him back.  You knew deep down Jack would always make sure you both were okay when it came to your relationship.  He walked away from massive job offers when he knew the risks were higher and deadlier, knowing deep down it would kill you to see him place his life in danger.  You were his sanctuary and his safe space, constantly in his ever-changing chaotic life.

Jack pulled away and nuzzled his nose with yours as you climbed onto the couch to lay out next to him.  Jack loved having you close, wrapping one arm around your shoulders while he spoke again, “You come first in my life, always.”

“I know,” You hummed back in a breath, then moving to place the washcloth back over his eyes.  Jack laughed, making you giggle as you pecked his nose one more time, “But you’re still out of it and out of commission!  Let’s give this one 20 more minutes and then we can go out to dinner tonight,”

“Deal,” he replied, realizing again on the couch as you were tracing patterns on his chest like before.  The softness of the room and the quietness between the pair of you brought back peace and coziness.  You ever minded the quiet, not when you knew Jack was there with you and safe.

His eyes trail over the other patrons, everyone absorbed in their own worlds and conversations. The table he eyes quickly gets taken while he collects his iced Americano and he sighs softly, despite the amount of people in, he doesn’t want to leave yet, and the only available spot to sit comes with another person. Namjoon weighs his options. He could go outside, find a little park to sit in and drink his coffee, or he could risk it here, where someone has yet to pay him any mind. It’s been so long since he’s been able to walk freely, he knows he’ll miss it when he goes back through the front door.  

So, with cautious steps, he walks over to the table with the only available seat.  

“Excuse me...” Namjoon softly calls, briefly contemplating on tapping your shoulder; you’re reading a book, and he knows well how easily one can get lost in those. You look up though, the tiny furrow between your brows gives way to your confusion, as well as the little humming sound you make. “Sorry...do you mind if I...”  

Namjoon motions to the chair across from you, and you look at it and then back to him for a few seconds before realization blooms in your eyes.  

“Oh! No, of course...just...go ahead.” Your smile is pretty, Namjoon notes, and he realizes, as he thanks you and sits, that you recognise him. You stare at him in a knowing kind of way, and before Namjoon can up and leave, you simply smile the way you had before, as though he was any other stranger wanting to share your table. He watches with bated breath, trying to stay calm just in case, and you just go back to reading your book.  

There’s no fanfare, no freaking out and drawing attention, or asking for a photo and too invasive questions. You don’t even look at him again. The sound of you flipping the pages of your book melds into the background noise of the space, and Namjoon finds it strange. He thanks his stars, though, he’s not about to look a gift horse in the mouth and risk losing his head.

“Can I... Is it okay if I ask for your number?” The words come tumbling out of his mouth before he can reel them in, and he’s standing there a little mortified. Namjoon always prides himself in being self-assured, but that same self-assurance leads him to putting his foot in his mouth sometimes and he says things without thinking first. It’s too late to pull the words back or act like he hadn’t asked because you’re blinking up at him, sitting a little straighter now in your seat. 

You glance around, brows furrowed, “Are...are you sure?”  

For the first time, it seems as though it just registered that you’re speaking to RM of BTS. 

There’s a nervousness about you now, as you glance to the side, and Namjoon finds this strange. He’s not trying to sound like an ass thinking that many others would jump at the offer – or be bold enough to demand it first – it’s simply the truth.  

He finds your consideration refreshing, though, and he waits patiently for you to make up your mind. You pull your bottom lip between your teeth and Namjoon backtracks, a hand coming up to rub at the back of his neck. 

“It’s okay if you don’t want to.” Namjoon says, putting up a hand. Despite who he is in the eyes of the public; he’s still a man. A man you’ve only spoken to for a half hour who’s now asking for your number, Namjoon would think very hard about it if he were in your shoes, too.  

“I don’t meet a lot of people like you, and I thought it would be nice if we spoke often, but if that’s not cool, that’s okay.”  

You shake your head, “No... it’s okay. I just...Are you sure? I don’t want to put you in any difficult spots, or myself for that matter...”  

You’re surprisingly calm, looking more wary than anything else, and Namjoon takes that as a good sign. “I’m sure, don’t worry.” He smiles and pulls his phone out of the pocket of his jeans; he unlocks it with a press of his thumb and hands it over to you.  

You fumble a little with the device, fingers tapping at the number pads quickly before handing it back to him. He shoots you a quick text, a simple ‘Hi :”)' before he was pocketing his phone again, waving and making his way out the café door.

Warren x Freelancer Reader

WARNINGS: Nothing this time

-You were working as a Freelancer artist and were hired by a non-profit company to redesign their logo

-The company was called "Ok, Stop!" and even though you weren't sure what they were doing you took the job

-Your current 'boss' wanted you to design at the company's headquarters so they could monitor progress; you found it a hassle, but at the time you couldn't refuse because you needed the money

-During your time working there, you met Warren

-You couldn't really call him a Freelancer because he work for the company, but in his free time he works on podcasts by himself

-Even after you finished working for "Okay, Stop!" you and Warren stayed in touch

-You were called each others almost every day, albeit briefly, since you both had to work

-You decided to help him, since you were sorry to hear that almost all of his free time was spent doing podcasts for work

-You first recommended a better microphone to him, since the one he had sometimes recorded corrupted audios and then because of that he had to record podcasts completely over again

- "Really, I can't even find the brand of microphone you use!!!" You said

- "It's the cheapest one, I don't have enough money for a professional one " He answered embarrassed

- "Well....the most recommended is the Blue Yeti, my streamer friend uses it and it's great; and don't worry about the cost, I'll pay for it" You said

-Warren I look at you really happy , honestly no one had made something so nice for him

-You also recommend him to soundproof the room, so that no background noise could be heard while he was talking on his podcasts

- "Another thing you could do is soundproof the room, there would be no more background sounds on the podcasts" You said

- "I never thought of that" He replied to you

- "Someone gifted me some panels; I don't know what to do with them, if you want I can give them to you" You told him

-After you brought the soundproofing panels to Warren's house you also helped him hang them in the room he use for record his podcast

-Warren was sincerely amazed at your kindness

-Another tip you gave him to improve the quality of his podcast is to write a text where he can refer to the information without having to imrove, as he did before

-Warren wasn't very good at writing so you tried to help him the best you could, even if writing was not your specialty

-When he works too much you stop him by saying: "Take a break, working when you are too tired doesn't lead to anything good"

-The fact that working too much is also your vice and Warren often has to stop you too; sometimes if you don't want to listen to him he will use your phrases against you, since he knows that because of your ego you would not contradict yourself

-Warren will not bother you only if you have an errand with an impending deadline; he knows you have little time to finish it and does not want to you waste it

-Thanks to your advice Warren's podcast has been much more successful than it was before, and he won't stop thanking you

-Sometimes you make some drawings for him to put as covers for his podcasts

-Warren cries with joy every time you do this

-To thank you for all you do Warren try help you, advertising you to his colleagues

-You find it very sweet of him, even though none of them have contacted you yet

-The days when you haven't too much work to do, you both prefer to sleep or stay home and relax rather than go out; this is because of the decrease of energy in your body

-Life as a Freelancer is hard, and you and Warren know it, which is why you and Warren push each other to keep going

WARNINGS: Nothing this time

-You met Brendon almost by chance; you met him in a café when he asked if he could sit with you since every other sits was full 

-Neither of you spoke, until you noticed him writing something; you were intrigued and asked him about it

-He seemed astonished by your question; apparently no one ever asked him about his novel

-Brendon happily started talking about his novel, and he was glad that someone was interested in it

-He even let you read a part of it, and honestly you were amazed at how well it was written

-When you heard that no one wanted to publish it you were sad for him and you understood what him feels; you were a Freelancer artist, and in your early days of work it was rare that anyone would hire you and sometimes your hard work was not paid properly and very often was belittled

-You were now a fairly respected artist, thanks in part to the help of some of your friends; that's why you wanted to help Brendon as your friends did to you

-Fortunately at that time you had little work and more like easy errands, so you could help Brendon the best you could

-Brendon invited you to his house so that you could read his novel entirely and give him advice

-When you arrived at Brendon's house, the first person you met was his annoying younger brother; he was a good person, but the way he told Brendon to get a real job took you personally

-You and Brendon had to ignore Briefcase's provocations

-Brendon took his novel and gave it to you so that you could read it

-You flipped through it and saw that it was all handwritten; you were amazed at the dedication he had put into writing it, the problem being that publishers are more likely to publish a computer-written text

-You told him this a little anxiously, as you didn't want him to think you were belittling his work

-Brendon gladly took your advice and from that day began transcribing his novel on the computer

-Briefcase probably hates you, thinking you were leading his brother astray; that's why every time he saw you two together he repeated to Brendon: "It's a bad influence for you!"

-Every time Briefcase does that both you and Brendon roll your eyes

-To help Brendon as much as possible you also contacted some of your writer friends to ask which publishers were most willing to publish a novel

-You also designed a cover for the book

-When you told Brendon all these things he was almost cried of joy

-After meeting with some publishers you finally found someone willing to publish Brendon's novel

-You were delighted, the only problem was that you two would have to work alone on the design of the book

-Brendon was a little worried about this, you reassured him and because you having some experience in designing you offered to help him

-The first thing you did was correct the text, then you divided the book into chapters, so as to give readers some reference points and finally you added a sketch you made for summarizing the chapter at the end of each ones; you did this to make the book more palatable to the audience

-This work took you a long time and some nights without sleep, but in the end you were satisfied with about it

-You sent the file to the publisher and waited for them to send you the first copy before they finally published the book

-As soon as you got the copy of the book, you went to Brendon's house to show it to him.

-When you gave it to him initially he was as excited as you were, but when he started turning the pages he started crying from emotion

-You told him you would think about design, but not that you would use hours of your time to do drawings for his book

-He asked you if he owed you any money for that, and you told him 'no'

- "I just wanted to help you, I don't want any money!" You said

-Brendon hugged you still crying from joy

-Now the next step was to rub his success in Briefcase's face

-Brendon picked up his book and headed to his brother

- "I told you I could do it!!!" You heard him shout joyfully

-You have to admit that this made you smile a little bit

⊹ He doesn’t even notice the arrows to look at the other dorm students. Just taps the one that draws him in more, only to immediately be blasted with a voice line:

⊹ Kalim begged him to try that same day they missed first class.

He’s slightly bitter about it but, it’s Kalim, of course something like this could veer him off.

⊹ It takes him days before he actually starts it. Was it out of spite? Hmm, maybe. Who knows.

⊹ Doesn’t really get hooked as easily as Kalim did; although the intro did slightly piqued his interest.

⊹ Notes that the cinematic and story is thought out well.

⊹ Carefully reads and examines each of The Great Seven before settling on The Sorcerer of the Sands.

It gives him a sense of familiarity and the background reminds him of home.

⊹ Stares incredulously at the people that now appeared on his screen.

And here is where we see the gears shift into motion and for sure know that he is hooked. What did him in? The obvious representation in attire and character designs.

⊹ He goes through each of the students to admire the work. But ultimately, obviously, settles on what he originally chose.

“Late once again? Nevermind, let’s go.” You spoke evenly.

Talk about déjà vu, my goodness.

⊹ Unlike Kalim, and I’m sure you noticed, he reads things carefully and understands completely.

He holds his own pretty well and does decent damage before he ‘fails’.

⊹ Dialogue (positive).

Loves story building and low-key enjoys all the characters interaction in the beginning and— of course, that one scene that completely solidified his choice of you. He feels the relation to your predicament.

⊹ Yeah.. Yeah.. he.. enjoys this. He sees himself inve—

⊹ “Hey Jamil, I’m going to make dinner! What do you— IS THAT WHAT I THINK IT IS!?” Kalim bursts with joy.

⊹ “No.” Immediately shuts off his phone.

“You’re not making dinner” is leaving the room.

“Wha— WAITT! I WANT TO COOK TOO!”

hi and thank you!!! here are all of the best tips i can give you.

the first thing is be sure to take your time. there's never going to be immediate progress,, you have to be patient with yourself

trial and error is the best way to progress. for instance, if you look up a video on art tips. or like try watching a tutorial on how to draw eyes or hands or whatever. keep following it and drawing them and eventually you'll fall into an area where you're more comfortable drawing those kinds of things. i know how to 'correctly' draw hands, but i've become so comfortable in my art that i draw them more lazily and they still end up looking normal!! its all about falling into a rhythm that's comfortable for you.

another thing is, again, don't rush or pressure yourself. i feel like my art has improved ever since i realized that art isn't about looking perfect or great or anything, it's about expressing the image in your mind. leave the stray lines, color outside said lines, screw up the anatomy a little. your art is your art, an expression of what you feel. there's no need to make it look amazing. in fact, i enjoy art and drawings more when you can see the sketch lines or bits and pieces of missed spots you meant to color. it gives the art life!

honestly, i have to admit, if you didn't grow up 'creative' or drawing as a kid, it's a little more difficult to get into it. which is why i think every artist, no matter their age, should go through that phase where they like. draw shitty anime eyes and copy their favorite artists. because that's exactly how you progress.

all of our art is inspired by someone else in one way or another. if you 'steal' someones art style, eventually it's going to progress into something entirely different, something that expresses you. so do that!!!! use references, look up tutorials, copy an art style, whatever works.

i keep saying this but practice is the best way to progress and feel more comfortable in your art. i promise, even if your drawings look stale or uncomfortable, it takes time to fall into an art style that expresses you as a person. i also recommended trying to paint or draw backgrounds and nature!!! experiment a little, see what you enjoy drawing.

it can be animals, backgrounds, people, objects, furries. there are so many things to draw, so draw what makes you feel happy.

Moonlight Sonata and in general these small bits of mood shifts were very effective! and it's amazing that even though they are outliers they still match the general playlist! another song that had BIG effect on me was also I Never Told You What I Do for a Living! i think it was the first major mood shift completely steering the wheel somewhere else and like- it also shocked me, i almost felt like i was lured by mac's party persona only to be brought into a dark alley and get stabbed fgsdjkfl it felt like the title was said to me literally by her before getting murdered fsdjkdfg

thank you! and you know, ironically Klepsydra isn't a main character, even though they are my main oc fhdsjk they are mostly in background, doing their own thing outside of main cast's stories, so narrative treats them as Void bound actually but they are pretty heart bound in their concept! (maybe even witch of heart? they gotta be manipulating class for sure fgsdfhk) anyway! they don't interact with the "main" cast often, the time they are on the screen they are mostly there for comedic effect and then they vanish, and it goes like that for a long time, until the narrative finally decides to focus on them for one "filler" chapter where they get hurt at the end and their powers get revealed to the audience, something like- "oh hey remember this joke character that's always smiling and nice but never lets people get too close? well there's a reason they behave this way and are actually super angsty mf with super destructive powers and they are vital to the story, isn't it wild?" and from that point the narrative would give them more and more spotlight which would culminate in a finale where they can't hide/run away from their own emotions any longer and it ends up in destruction- so yeah…. id say running away and avoiding problems is a big part of their story fhsdfjk (and yes, im sure that says nothing about us, nope! :D)

IM DOING WELL!! i went to a concert in tuesday and actually typed most of this that day but i was at work and busy and now its saturday 10:51pm. anyway i saw modest mouse with my brother, so thats one more gender playlist artist down>>>:3c also today i was given a tour of a funeral home and i went to the cemetery and volunteered in the visitors center there, and i’ve been listening to marie kondo’s book and generally just feeling pretty great!! and now i am. very tired. like emotionally. i’m not used to this. i started prozac like a month ago and i feel SO MUCH ALL THE TIME HOW DO NOT-DEPRESSED PEOPLE DO THIS ALL THE TIME. ALSO HOW ARE *YOU!!!!!!!!!*

but!! no uhhh dont get me wrong i usually type my responses out in the notes on my phone (hiii im typing this in here rn!!). i like being able to scroll through your ask without scrolling away from my answer… i did need an actual keyboard for the big answer though>:3c

and aaaa that makes me so happy!! genuinely so so happy. a lot of the pop on mac’s playlist (aside from a few songs) are mostly there for vibes, it is the fluff of the club before she either reveals herself or has a moment of brief self reflection. shes efficient and ruthless and machine-like in her (no pun intended) execution. but she doesn’t allow herself to think about the morality of what she’s doing. she serves her purpose, her holy mission provided to her by God — and God is good, right? who is she to question His plan? and so she does see herself as sort of an extension, a limb, rather than her own being. and who she actually is is at odds with what she’s being made to do, and so sometimes she gets these quiet moments where her heart breaks a little bit, before she shuts it down with partying and drinking and girls.

Mac is the type to change her look often! I imagine her changing her hair style/color to match her outfits. whichhh is very easy for her because (AND I CANT BELIEVE I HAVENT TOLD YOU THIS!!) her humanoid form isn’t her only form!! she’s able to change between them at will. i haven’t decided the specifics of her angelic form but it’s somewhere in the realm of a bird of prey/harpy/phoenix type deal. and similarly, Ves’s demon counterpart is either a snake or dragon situation. their humanoid forms are their default, and i imagine they become more animalistic as tension grows :3

buuuut Mac generally has either light light blonde, white, or pastel colored hair! it generally leans more white, though. i imagine her eyelashes are white too, and she has gold eyes. she also is usually wearing pink or white, though not exclusively. she tends to have a mix of eras going on, generally pop girly aesthetics from 90s/y2k - present. i like to imagine it manifests as sort of a retro-futuristic vibe.

i havent really thought much about what she wears for leisure… i’ll start thinking about that more :0

she DOES have wings and also a halo! though she does hide them most of the time. generally i’ve sort of imagined her halo becomes a collar when she’s hiding it, and then as she takes on a more righteous display for killing, it expands and rises above her head and her hair falls over it. i’ve usually imagine her using a large hammer to fight (think john egbert or ramona flowers), but i think when it comes time to actually kill, she generally just uses her hands. she also has sharp teeth!

(adjacently, Ves uses a scythe when she fights — though its a lot more rare for her to, and she generally doesn’t want to kill anyone. she would have to be really pushed to her limits before she snaps and gets to that point 👀)

also let me just share Ves and Mac’s pinterest boards!! i don’t know why i didnt think about sharing them sooner fjskdj. also i dont know if i touched on it beyond “they’re dating” but Mac is a lesbian and Ves is bi/pan

I’m not sure about Finn yet. I’ve been being pulled towards more of a like, synth-pop no-lyrics sort of vibe for him, but who knows if that’ll stick! (its been a minute since i listened to all the songs you recommended - i did that the day of the concert. is that where im pulling that from?)

the only one i dont really see myself associating with her is Lollipop by MIKA and thats NOT bc i don’t see the potential of it, its because i listened to that album with my mom in the car ALL THE TIME when i was little and so every time i hear any of the songs from it, i think about being like 9 years old and asking my mom to play the lollipop song hfskjdjd. but yes yes yes i love this playlist for her!!! one of my favorites from it is don’t wanna sleep….. also unholy!! very very fitting.

i do like the songs you’ve chosen for Ves but i feel like theyre a little too… emotionally intense, i think? Ves is NOT in touch with her emotions at all, in an equal but opposite way as Mac. shes a very in-the-moment person, not as a rule but just because its hard for her to think about time in either direction. shes just trying to get from one moment to the next. (which is also sort of the opposite of Mac, too, huh? :0 in the way that Mac tends to mix time up together rather than avoid thinking about it)

also i will say that i do think some of ves’s playlist that *i’ve* made doesnt communicate that well. i was pleased as punch that you were able to clock her so well with my music choices, because i’ve had a really hard time with it. she’s been sort of in a mutating state — shes a LOT different than how i originally envisioned her when i made her. the issue was that i wanted conflicting personality traits for her, and now i’ve committed to some and mac has the rest, while also having her own unique qualities that i’m really excited about.

sorry about your parents is a little too aggressive for Linsey, but I liked home in the west!! i dont remember what i thought about the ones for Finn off the top of my head 😔 i would relisten to all of them before replying and i dont want to wait anymore
