shipsinker.com has been inaccessible for the past couple months. For those unfamiliar, that's the site of the comic artist Rich Morris, who created The Ten Doctors. Perhaps the best and most complex Doctor Who fanfic in the fandom, which beautifully interweaves all the Doctors, most companions, and a good number of aliens from the show's start to 2007--I could even class it as one of the best fanworks in general. And that's not counting other works of Rich Morris' that I'm not very familiar with.

Fortunately, parts of his website can still be accessed on Web Archive, including the page where you can download all his Doctor Who comics. I encourage any fans of the show to do so, to help preserve them, since they're just a really incredible fanwork.

You want Rose Tyler making friends with a short ex-waitress from an ice planet whose hobby involves making explosives? You want Grace Holloway to briefly mistake Time Lady Romana for a regenerated Doctor and decide that she's still down for a relationship with a female Doctor(and for Romana to later patiently explain 'I'm not the Doctor, but you shouldn't be embarrassed about that kind of mistake, and I'd be interested in doing it again with full knowledge of who we both are if you are')? You want REALLY old characters from Classic Who like Omega, Susan, and even the Meddling Monk? Do you have any recommendations on Dr. Who books/audio format things? I haven't watched the show in a bit because Moffat wasn't my thing and I can't seem to find the old stuff. (If you have any advice on where to find that too I would be very grateful) Following your blog has been a nice reminder of why I liked the show so much. Hope you have a good day!

Aw thank you! Depending on your location, you can find classic who episodes either on BBC iPlayer or Tubi (with ads).

As for books/audios, I'll try to keep this brief as I could write an essay on this.

For books, my favorite author is Kate Orman. Orman writes wonderfully, and my personal favorite is The Year of the Intelligent Tigers. I also really liked Goth Opera, Camera Obscure, History 101, Autumn Mist, Lungbarrow, Divided Loyalties, Somewhere Never etc etc etc etc (so many more but I'm forcing myself to stop here). You can often find free versions of basically every novel (at least all I've looked for) on the internet either as pdfs or epubs or whatever. The Internet Archive is particularly useful. Some examples:

And now for the audios! I personally have sold my soul to Big Finish. I have literally hundreds of recommendations. They do have some audios for free, such as those that came from the Paul Spragg Memorial Competition. You can also find a lot of them (up until Zagreus I think) for free on Spotify. There is also almost always a killer sale going on on the website on top of that too.

As for my recommendations, it's pretty dependent on what Doctor or companion you want to listen to. They even have series centered on UNIT, Romana's Gallifrey, Benny Summerfield, and a ton of other things (including a Masterful special that just had a bunch of Masters fucking around and finding out). I'll put in some of my favorites, one for each Doctor, from what I own (which is far from everything, but I do my best).

One: The Sontarans. It was the first time the Doctor had ever encountered the Sontarans, so he was unfamiliar with them. It takes place during Dalek Master Plan, so Steven and Sara are there.

Two: Lords of the Red Planet! It's a good Ice Warrior origin story and has Jamie and Zoe in it. :)

Three: Terror of the Master. I had pre-ordered it as soon as I heard about it. Three....Delgado Master....what more do you want from an audio? It's narrated by Jon Culshaw.

Four: The Wrath of the Iceni. It was a brilliant historical with Four and Leela and Boudica. Leela gets quite a lesson in this one, first being mad at Four for not helping Boudica and then at Boudica for being cruel.

Okay now we are getting into my favorite Doctors (5-8), so these decisions are going to get difficult.

Five: The Kingmaker! Shakespeare spikes Five's drink to get him absolutely wasted to sneak on the TARDIS, the TARDIS gets hiccups as a result, leading to Peri and Erimem being separated from the Doctor. Shenanigans ensue.

Six: Doctor Who and the Pirates. Six and Evelyn have a really meaningful discussion with one of her depressed students. The third part is a musical!

Seven: The Shadow of the Scourge. Benny Ace and Seven against 8th dimensional eldritch abominations. Seven gets turned into one of these insectoids, and body horror ensues.

Eight: Oh dear I can't choose. At the moment, probably the Great War from Dark Eyes 1. Eight meets Molly and is still grieving here. He is very much doomed by the narrative.

War: The Neverwhen. Lots of the War Doctor is good if you like Time War horror, but this one has a lot of time-as-a-weapon and is well written.

Nine: Battle Scars. A nice short story about that one family Nine saved from the Titanic mentioned in the episode Rose. Has a really fantastic girl in it and a Nine dripping in PTSD.

Ten: The Time Reaver. Ten and Donna! There's this gun that basically slows down time for a single person, so that a few minutes for everyone else is centuries for them. Ten is a self sacrificing dope.

Eleven: The Geronimo boxset is the best in my opinion, but I haven't been able to listen to many of these yet.

Twelve: Another one I haven't managed to buy a lot of yet, but Dead Media is amazing. It's written to sound like a podcast with adverts and everything and is set during his time at St. Luke's. And I cried at the end.

this book was easy to get into with my basic knowledge of the sport and an engaging read. i also go crazy for a 'seven deadly sins for seven wins'. some reviewers have pointed out that they heard way too much about walsh's own life in this book but i didn't have a problem (person who loved amis' koba the dread voice... yeah...) cheating in sports and the omerta of silence is an interest of mine.

took it out as part of my library's two week bestie loan program. have to admit that i've been lacking in appreciation and reading of nz authors which is something that i am working to rectify... not much to say about this book other than that it is solid 3.5 stars for me. i had some issues with the way the dual timelines worked (the twists of the past timeline being revealed had me going 🤨 idk about that.... if that had happened 9 months ago!! i think i would still be thinking about that in my present timeline????) but overall this was a good book if you wanted to pick up and read something in one sitting. did have some fun with the author's crawl in the "gutters of the [white nz] middle class" too.

rip martin amis sorry it took some great obituaries and thinkpieces written about you post mortem for me to decide that i should start reading you. fascinating book. if you hated walsh injecting in parts of his life into seven deadly sins you might not be able to enjoy this book either. however when your father is kingsley amis i think you definitely have a right to be injecting in stories of your relationship with him and life.

  Override e Default (Sobreposições e Padrões):

Timeless V1 - Tecnicamente é um Mod, mas que não deixa de ser um tipo de Sobreposição Padrão. Este Mod em sua primeira versão, retira muitos itens/objetos do mundo, tais como carros, aviões, alguns prédios e cidades de “fundos”, esculturas e estruturas modernas, dentre outras coisas em alusão. Ele também retira alguns postes de iluminação pelas “cidades/mundos” e em algumas apenas são trocadas por postes vitorianos. NOTAS: 1 - Este Mod remove qualquer outro conteúdo de Sobreposição relacionados com conteúdos retirados por este Mod. 2 - A primeira vez que você abrir o jogo com este Mod, provavelmente seu jogo irá demorar um bocado para carregar (principalmente na troca de telas), mas segundo a criadora, voltará ao normal em seguida (off.: O meu demorou tanto que eu desisti do arquivo). 3 - Infelizmente nem tudo pode ser removido, como ocasionalmente alguns Táxis e alguns semáforos (este último, por fazer parte da Mesh/Malha de alguma construção). 4 - Pelo mesmo motivo que o item 3, em Bridleton Bay e em Windenburg, há conteúdos que não puderam serem retirados na versão 1 (versão 2 ainda em construção). As vestais, na Roma Antiga, eram sacerdotisas que cultuavam a deusa romana Vesta. Era um sacerdócio exclusivamente feminino, restrito a seis mulheres que seriam escolhidas entre a idade de 6 a 10 anos, servindo durante trinta anos. Durante esse período, as virgens vestais eram obrigadas a preservar sua virgindade e castidade, pois qualquer atentado a esses símbolos de pureza significariam um sacrilégio aos deuses romanos e, portanto, também à sociedade romana. Quando uma sacerdotisa vestal cometia o crimen incesti, a infração a seu voto de castidade era julgada com a pena máxima: a morte.

Enredo: Após uma ausência de cinco anos, o general Licínio retorna vitorioso a Roma, gloriosamente celebrado após ter derrotado os gauleses. Mas a tristeza o aguarda lá: Júlia, a mulher com quem ele queria se casar, foi forçada pelo pai a se dedicar à deusa Vesta, deusa do lar, e as vestais fazem voto de castidade. Quanto a Júlia, ela ainda está apaixonada por Licínio. Quando fica sabendo que foi escolhida para coroá-lo durante seu triunfo, ela fica perturbada. Durante a coroação, Licínio dá a Júlia um encontro secreto. Quando a noite chega, ele se junta a ela no templo, onde ela está encarregada de zelar pela chama eterna da lareira sagrada de Vesta. Quando os dois amantes juram seu amor diante do altar do templo, esquecendo-se de seu dever, ela permite que a chama eterna se apague. Ela é condenada à morte por seu crime. Antes de morrer, ela deve colocar seu véu no altar de Vesta. Se o véu explodir em chamas, a deusa a perdoará. Mas nada acontece, então Licínio interfere e se denuncia, esperando morrer no lugar de Júlia. Os dois são condenados à morte. De repente, uma luz atinge o altar e reacende a lareira! Perdoada por Vesta, Júlia pode se casar com Licínio.

A Opéra National de Paris apresenta La Vestale, de Gaspare Spontini, uma tragédie lyrique raramente apresentada que foi recebida com triunfo quando estreou neste mesmo palco em 1807. Árias famosas: “Tu che invoco” e “O nume tutelar”.

Admirada por Berlioz, a partitura apresenta uma orquestração brilhante e um estilo vocal lírico sustentado que anuncia a Grand opera, mantendo-se fiel ao legado de Gluck.

La Vestale é uma “Norma neoclássica com um final feliz”. Ato 1

Licínio voltou para casa após a guerra como um general romano vitorioso. Ele encontra Cinna, que quer saber por que ele está tão triste. Licínio confessa que está apaixonado por Julia e que, cinco anos antes, não conseguiu provar ao pai dela que era digno dela. Foi para melhorar sua posição que ele entrou para o exército. Após seu retorno, soube que Julia foi forçada a prometer ao pai, em seu leito de morte, que se tornaria uma Virgem Vestal e preservaria sua castidade. Cinna concorda em ajudar Licínio e os dois homens reafirmam sua amizade.

As Virgens Vestais cantam para sua deusa e para a chama eterna que guardam no templo. A Grande Vestal condena à morte todas as virgens que quebram seu voto de castidade. Para comemorar a vitória de Roma na guerra, ela anuncia uma procissão triunfal. Julia recebe a tarefa de coroar Licínio com a “coroa da imortalidade”. Deixada sozinha, Julia fica dividida entre a alegria de rever Licínio e o medo das consequências de seu amor proibido.

Durante as festividades, a Grande Vestal escolhe Julia para guardar a chama eterna na noite seguinte. Licínio fica sabendo disso e conta a Julia sobre seu plano de raptá-la do templo. Um cônsul, o sumo sacerdote e toda a população comemoram o triunfo do guerreiro.

Ato 2

À noite, no templo, Julia implora a Vesta por misericórdia. Ela deseja ver Licínio mais uma vez e depois se entregar à vingança dos deuses. Em frente ao altar, Licínio e Julia juram seu amor em uma febre de paixão. A chama eterna se apaga. Cinna entra no templo e tenta persuadir Licínio a fugir. Mas Licínio se recusa a atender aos pedidos de Cinna ou de Julia para sair.

Quando vozes são ouvidas do lado de fora, Licínio e Cinna partem. O povo e as outras Virgens Vestais se aglomeram no templo e condenam o crime que foi cometido. O sumo sacerdote exige de Julia o nome do intruso, mas ela se recusa a revelar. Ele a amaldiçoa e a condena à morte.

Ato 3

Cinna diz a Licínio que reuniu uma tropa de legionários para ajudá-lo. Licínio tenta, sem sucesso, persuadir o sumo sacerdote a anular a sentença de morte e confessa que é amante de Julia. O chefe dos arúspices aponta para o sumo sacerdote os soldados que estão se reunindo e recomenda adiar o sacrifício. No entanto, o sumo sacerdote rejeita essa ideia. Antes que a sentença de morte seja executada, ele manda colocar o véu de Julia no altar de Vesta. Se o véu pegar fogo, isso significará que Vesta perdoa sua sacerdotisa. Licínio admite publicamente que é o culpado e exige que a vida de Julia seja poupada. Mas Julia finge que não o conhece. De repente, começa uma tempestade e um raio incendeia o véu de Julia.
