“Charlie Fucking Roseland,” Ingrid said with a giant smile, and then Charlie noticed the woman standing next to him. “You probably don't even remember me. You were like, ten the last time we hung out. Shit, look how tall you got.”
Ingrid. He remembered. For as much as she actually looked like her brother, she’d grown into a surprisingly pretty girl. She was tall now, and strong. The last time Charlie saw her they were both still kids.
Ingrid glanced around. “Where’s Natty?”
That question, again. Everyone asked it so casually, like it was the most natural thing to ask. And he had to answer it over and over and over again, each time like a little dagger probing his heart. It was almost a worst torture than having lost Natty in the first place.
Ian shook his head, but Ingrid didn't stop.
“Awww, did you break up? No way! You guys were like peanut butter and jelly!”
Ian put a finger up. “Iggy, we're not calling it that,” he whispered. “It’s just a break.”
“Oh, sweetie,” Ingrid said and pulled Charlie to her chest, mostly naked, and he remembered being ten when she and Ian were twelve and how she had boobs before any of the other girls his own age, how hers were the first pair of boobs he probably ever noticed. He swallowed hard.
She spoke softly near his ear while patting his shoulder. “Relationships are such a pain, I don't think I know anyone who's made it work. Poor Ian here, too…” She went on some more about old-fashioned family archetypes and monogamy and the patriarchy and evolution and a dozen other things Charlie couldn't even think about because she had him clutched, her breasts squished up against his chest, and she smelled like day-old vanilla.
He pulled away from her hastily, feeling distressed and uncomfortable and full of pent-up arousal. “Sorry, I have to— Where’s Gabby? She might be drowning.”
He walked away quickly, cheeks flushed, sort of hunched over and lopsided to hide his huge boner.

I don't know why but I love this ask so much so what outfits do the LIs typically wear? im ready to faint over how G and Victoria dresses up
Sooo I made collages and basically like an essay i went a bit overboard (oops)
So I thought hard about what the ROs look like and my biggest thing was that I wanted to make sure the gender selectable ROs still have their own unique presence and they're not some interchangeable variable. Gina and Griffin dress pretty differently and have a different identity, especially when you consider what it means to be a woman in the music industry (some context changes in the story if you choose Gina instead of Griffin, some of her actions are out of her feeling like she has just as much right to take space in a male-dominated art form, especially given that she is also married to Victoria, a woman)
Griffin does not have this problem since he's 1) a man and 2) he and Victoria present heterosexual
GRIFFIN/GINA
(Griffin on the left/Gina on the right, both in the middle)
G either dresses like the textbook definition of a 'rockstar' with the leather and fishnets and ripped jeans and all orrrr like a 18th century era gothic victorian butler. Literally no in-between.
For both Gina and Griffin, having so many tattoos becomes part of their image. Griffin wears a lot of muscle tees while Gina wears a lot of sleeveless tops, halter tops, corsets, anything that really enhances their arm sleeve.
The middle is the Victorian Butler style I mentioned lol, since they both dress like that as their "formal" attire or for shows. A lot of ruffles, very 18th century gothic. One thing is that I feel like Gina wears more red, she wears more tight fitting clothes, lower cut clothes. Griffin's shirts are also pretty revealing, very much low-cut V's, muscle tees that show the side of his whole chest. G isn't shy about the human body and they've gotten shirtless on stage many times (both male and female/ think Victoria from Måneskin.)
That slowed down a bit since Misfit Alley went mainstream. Their label and team had them tone down a bit to be more digestable to the masses.
Their hair is long for both female and male. Griffin keeps his in a loose knot/bun at his neck, and Gina does the same, but also a single braid down her back (sometimes).
Some things that they wear often: a lot of rings, G has knuckle tattoos and they wear a lot of jewelry. They have a signature leather jacket that's pretty roughed up, wear a nose ring, and pretty scruffed up boots.
SEVEN
Female Seven and Male Seven dress pretty similarly. Seven dresses more grunge and Kurt Cobain was the direct inspiration for Seven's style. Female Seven also dresses a bit like an art teacher lol
A lot of oversized clothes, slouchy, worn bigger, muted colors, a lot of layers. Female! Seven wears a lot of long skirts, cardigans, funky patterns, big boots. They dress pretty much the same both on and off stage.
At first male!seven was going to have short cropped hair but it doesn't suit him. His hair is more like:
very messy and such yeah. female! Seven keeps her hair down, kinda messy and looks uncombed (seven is very clean i promise lmao)
Things they wear often: Seven sometimes fingerless gloves, part of it because they can cover the tattoo of MC's initials, but sometimes they forgo it completely. Sometimes it's a whole arm sleeve. Surprisingly, Seven doesn't have a LOT of tattoos, it's more dainty, tiny meaningful tattoos scattered around their body.
AUGUST
August is like Seven in that they wear big, slouchy clothes but where they differ is that August is more academic and put together. They also like to wear the art teacher skirts. Scoopneck sweaters, cargo pants, and they prefer long-sleeve and long bottoms, usually they don't have much skin showing.
Things they are always seen wearing: headphones around the neck, they dont go anywhere without them.
ORION
Orion is pretty self-explanatory. He wears mostly slacks, sleek boots and a vest. Very professional dressing. If he is going to wear something casual, it'll be something like the right. Still fancy pants, but a clean black shirt. You won't really see him in anything less than 'business casual.'
Things always seen wearing: a watch lol
SEBASTIAN
I don't know how else to describe Seb's style as anything other than just basic. A T-shirt and jeans and he's good to go. Even the images I chose are a bit too stylish for him. Like, he's really just a basic guy. He doesn't think too hard on his outer appearance. Literally just...a Guy.
Even funnier when he's surrounded by people wearing fishnet tights and chains and a bunch of patterns and accessories like he stands out, oddly enough lol
The image in the middle isn't exactly how he looks in my head, but pretty close. Just a very unassuming but kind looking person. Also his hair is like that, just golden blond.
VICTORIA
Victoria has a very classically simple style. Sleek lines, tight dresses. It's not too out there, unlike G. Very simple. She dresses a bit like the second picture for G's shows, a bit edgier and leaning a little into the flamboyance. She tends to set trends and is looked at in Hollywood as someone pretty stylish. Victoria's body type is on the curvy side, more the farthest right than the other three, a bit bustier. She's a simple but effective dresser.
She loves heels, loves a square neck (farthest right). she loves a good form-fitting dress lol
--
IK its a lot but i would be doing this whole story a disservice if i made them boring dressers! so im not sorry !

What was the plan is the question indeed lol. I genuinely think that Taylor and Matty unironically wanted to be like Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love (with the added baggage that Taylor is one of the most famous humans in the world) and they were both really into the idea of having the other as a muse bc unpopular opinion maybe but I actually think Taylor is into being a muse and having love songs written about her, it's just that none of the artists she's dated aside from Matty have been able to deliver a proper good song about her. Harry's are mid at best, possibly cos their thing was never that deep as we've discussed. Which is actually crazy considering how drop dead gorgeous and charming she is like this male writers genuinely ain't shit, even me I could write a song about Taylor. So I don't think it would've been a full on Taylorx1975 album but I do think she would've had them feature on a song and would've had a couple of songs ft. Matty Healy as in written and produced by the two of them. And she would've probably continued to pop up at 1975 concerts like she did in London on January 2023 and he would've continued to do his little set with boygenius in Eras and probably would've also popped up with a guitar for surprise songs a couple of times and they would've eye-fucked each other on stage as they sang one of their love songs a la John Mayer and baby Taylor singing Your Body Is A Wonderland and Half Of My Heart during Fearless Era 💀 and then after two or three years it would've eventually imploded like Kurt and Courtney did bc of multiple reasons that you all have stated (he's an addict, she's a control freak, they're both anxious, stressy-depressy and insecure, he can't handle the Taylor Swift tm of it all even if he really wanted too etc). I do think Taylor would've fully leaned into the rock girl aesthetic and hell, maybe we would've even gotten that Taylor rock album we crave so much lol. If they'd had a bebé I imagine both of them would've tried to keep the child as protected and private as possibly but inevitably some candids if Matty walking around with a the baby with a cigarette in his mouth would've surfaced lol like I would expect Matty to be a lot like Kurt was with Frances: a very loving and fun dad and all but acting like a child himself the whole time. Their respective split/divorce albums would've been hectic too, hopefully Matty would've had a better fate than Kurt though
Did u come from the multiverse because… I belieb this is exactly what would’ve happened in an alternate tl and I agree this is what they both wanted. Delusional but romantic ngl.

Can you go into more detail on Donald’s college era (early 2000’s) hair? I think it’s so cool that he’d be rocking really long hair. I see it is “partially slicked back” but I still don’t know what that means lol. Is there a famous celeb or image that depicts this hairstyle? I want to make some fanart of him but he looks kind of stoner rn :/ Thanks!
Oooh okay so 😅 I've mostly imagined his college era hair looking something like a messy Kurt Cobain style. Long although not necessarily with bangs like when he was young as they've grown out a lot and are probably more split evenly between both sides now. But at times it would be partially slicked back at the roots, usually around the forehead.
Think combining the style of Kurt Cobain here with this image of Troy Baker but keep it messy and long, approximately shoulder length, again much like Kurt Cobain. Accomplished with hair spray rather than a gel so the hold is maybe looser than gel would be but still manages to go back partially.
Another style I can see college age Donald using is the half ponytail or low ponytail
And again, definitely gonna be more messy and unkept looking, this is not a pretty hairstyle like the half ponytail (image 3) presents. It's very reminiscent of a tired young college and minimum wage job working adult still very much into his grunge look and isn't the best about showering or brushing his hair feathers. And definitely doesn't care about what's trendy either. He might still ultimately look like a stoner since there can be overlap between those groups but even though he isn't one, he'll likely be confused for one anyway lol. I know I have been even though I'm literally allergic to weed and can't be around it without suffocating. Hence I've never even tried it 😅
Or you know, there's gonna be times without the hairspray or the ponytail so he'll just leave his hair long and loose, again look much like his hero Kurt Cobain or Keanu Reeves here lol
And if you're wondering about facial hair feathers, that would be a no, he doesn't try to grow it out. (Cough, it reminds him too much of Scrooge and he hates how much it makes him look like him, cough) so he keeps those trimmed regularly despite his Scottish blood wanting to give him a most fabulous beard lol.
Yeah don't remind Donald of his island beard. He was not a fan. For multiple reasons.
•
Anyway I hope this jumble of my thoughts makes sense in how I pictured young grunge Donald's style evolving into his late teen/young adult college era style. Feel free to ask anymore questions if you have them! I'm happy to share!

I think Courtney Love is as fake as Emilie Autumn. They both created alternate pasts and idealized identities for the images they want to project as famous people.
I just realized i wrote 2 pages or something of text. If you asked me in person i’d tell you maybe two sentences but when i have to write, i write too much. Sorry lol.
It’s your opinion and you have right to think so. But CL being comparable to Emilie Autumn? Dude. Alternate pasts? What pasts? Courtney Love didn’t create her past, she literally had fucked up past. And she didn’t lie about her family. She would sometimes exaggerate while saying her Hollywood/rock anecdotes but she didn’t lie about her past. I recommend buying „Dirty Blonde”. Idk, I think you simply don’t like her. Courtney Love had kinderwhore look for a few years and then switched to designer clothes, but she doesn’t undermine her previous looks and records (except for Pretty On The Inside, she doesn’t like it now). Courtney doesn’t create any fake alternate reality, she have recurring themes (like fallen women for example), but she does what she wants while Emilie milks the same old worn out thing for years. She writes about anything she wants to, from violence towards women and shady strip club situations, fallen women, eating disorders, post partum depression, riot grrrl poser movements and elitism to love, mourning, beauty/ugliness and finally being broken, in a constant falling-rising up-falling cycle (especially on later records). EA basically only writes about one subject for years. Courtney’s music may not be complicated and she might not have a perfect voice/looks/personality but she’s honest in her songs – girls and boys worldwide find themselves in her lyrics and experiences. You may not like her but that doesn’t mean her music is fake. I don’t think Emilie Autumn’s lyrics are fake either, it’s just that she’s narcissistic, mean and compulsively lying, rewriting her past every few years and only accepting endless praise – if you don’t like her, you’re her enemy. Courtney Love doesn’t care. She lets people think whatever they want to think.
As a Courtney Love fan knowing a lot about her i look at her a little different than people not liking her/not reading, listening to her. Courtney Love fans know well that sometimes you’ve got to take what Courtney says with a huge grain of salt, cause she likes to exaggerate stories to make them more interesting. (And Kurt Cobain did the very same thing. “Rock’n’roll stories” from his diaries. The whole “i was bullied cause i desperately tried to sleep with disabled girl in high school” story from Montage of Heck? That’s a madeup story he wrote in diary and later recorded on tape when he was bored. Somehow people don’t consider him “liar”.) Usually as a Courntey fan you learn to notice that border, and you can somehow “feel” where she exaggerates. Mostly i’d say when we notice those moments we all kind of get amused and laugh it off & continue to reading further. It’s not like we immediately get offended like “OMG she’s a liar i’m a fan no more”. The problem with EA is nobody believed she could ever lie, you would get hunted by fans if you dared to doubt her words. Her „history” was designed as something 100% true and real, but it turned out there’s more of fake than truth, yet she still continues to keep up her lies.
You can dislike Courtney’s nowadays lifestyle like red carpet designer dresses and all that glamour. But “creating a past and persona” or being a liar comparable to Emilie Autumn? How so? She doesn’t lie about her name - everybody knows her real name and she never pretended that Love is her birth surename. She adapted name Courtney Love in 80′s after her friend Pat Smear (from The Germs & later Nirvana) told her this would be a good artistic nickname for her.
Courtney Love never lied about her parents or her youth. She had bad experiences with her family & certainly was raised poorly, but she didn’t try to rewrite her story or bury her parents in the “fire” (although she has good reasons to). Everybody knows about her therapist mother Linda Carrol & her father is Hank Harrison, previously manager of The Grateful Dead band. Courtney was even featured on the back cover on one of their records as a tiny child. Courtney wasn’t on good terms with mother and usually circled between her and other relatives. Her father is a complete piece of shit - he gave Courtney LSD when she was a toddler, which was why he lost a custody of her. He claims to know his daughter so well, even though he wasn’t raising her at all, and wrote a fucking book about how psychotic Courtney is, although he lost custody of her when she was a tiny toddler. And how Courtney killed Kurt. No, actually, he wrote A FUCKING BIOGRAPHY OF KURT, even though he never met him. Of course Kurt-was-murdered conspiracy fans consider him their beloved mascot because of that, asking for his opinion & believing anything he says.
Her family certainly weren’t as rich as EA’s, but they had some recognition and money. In the beginning of 80′s CL started getting some trust fund left by maternal grandparents, so she could afford going to other countries & make additional money stripping.
Later she spent youth in different countries & boarding schools, later got arrested for shoplifting and spent time in correctional facility for teenage girls. In Dirty Blonde book she wrote about her experiences from that time, printed some papers from Hillcrest describing her behaviour. Idk, but Emilie Autumn took A HUGE inspiration from Courtney’s Dirty Blonde book. All the idea for including papers from hospital, all scrapbooking style was taken from Courtney. Even the fucking “red crayon” - guess what, Courtney’s book begins with a letter from facility written in red crayon, cause they don’t allow them to have pens.
The only thing i have doubts about are her universities. She said she studied English, philosophy & theology but I think it was only a few months/semesters. When you say someone studied this and that you immediately think the person finished studies, but in fact she was starting and dropping learning. But she never said she graduated or anything, so i think it is obvious she studied for one or two semesters or in weekends or something.
She always had an interest in rock music, although she prefered 80′s new wave and stuff like Fleetwood Mac and Echo and The Bunnymen, which she always admitted anyway. It’s not like she suddenly adapted rock music after it became profitable. She only learned how to play guitar in the very beginnings of Hole, so she probably only wanted to sing earlier. In the 80′s she spent time in Liverpool. She was hanging around with Echo and The Bunnymen band and apparently lived at Julian Cope’s house. It’s not made up, cause Cope was really jealous of her fame in 90′s. Plus i heard he wrote about her in his autobiography. Somebody wrote a book about Courtney’s time spent in Liverpool and London this year, but i don’t have it yet. But it’s not like she took all those stories from nowhere, she really spent time living with Echo & being a friend/roadie for other bands. I remember she also knew Joe Strummer, she was a friend or a roadie for The Clash. Later they also starred in Alex Cox’s movie. She was a young impressionable girl at the time, so she was learning from those bands. She had more goth/punk style at the time.
People excuse her of leeching of whatever rockband she can & you can interpret it however you want, but seeing how she roadied with punk bands in her teens and how she liked to meet new rock bands after she got famous shows she liked to surround herself with people from rock circles. Men from rock bands hang around other men/women from other bands all the time but it’s always Courtney Love that gets shit for that.
You can doubt Courtney’s words on her inventing “kinderwhore” and starting that style trend. Although it was Courtney who coined that term. People usually yell that Courtney is unoriginal and that she stole the style from Kat Bjelland. And i say bullshit, it wasn’t even started by Kat. The girl from Divinyls did it before (CL admited she took it from her), Kim Shattuck of The Muffs did it before.
She said she liked cute dresses so much as an adult cause her mother always dressed her up rather manly– if you look at her childhood photos she indeed wasn’t looking like a „girly girl”, her mother was much into hippie culture. She got into that feminine look as she lost a lot of weight in the beginning of 90’s, so i guess that’s why she could pull off that babydoll look. Anyway here’s the interview where she explains the idea behind her style:
youtube
Courtney listened to different bands, she liked harsh noise like Big Black but she also liked Fleetwood Mac. She posted an advert she’s looking for people inspired by these particular bands, so it’s not like she was lying about her softer music side. I believe Pretty On The Inside was partly a “fuck you” to Kat Bjelland, partly she wanted to record the heaviest, most noisy record by a girl-fronted band. You could say she wasn’t honest cause she tried to impress people from that scene and be cool enough for them. Well, Courtney actually admitted later she wanted to prove her worth, impress people from that scene etc. That’s why the record is so noisy. But the lyrics aren’t fake. That kind of writing was consistent in her poems. She took those themes from her experiences, people she knew and situations she observed as a girl in a stripping business.
I don’t know how can anyone even judge if Live Through This era was fake or not, recording wise she competed with her husband and wanted a more polished record. But later in 1994 or 1995 she was a wreck, numbed with heroin after what happened. It’s really fucking hard to „fake a persona” when you’re a) mourning b) on heroin/oxy. What’s there to fake? Wearing skirts, missing Kurt or being on drugs? That’s fucking disrespectful to say that was „fake”.
Now a lot of people say she sucked after Celebrity Skin, but the truth is Celebrity Skin was probably her most real album/era soundwise. And I don’t even like this album that much. It was inspired by new wave/more poppy rock bands she loved and Courtney was actually satisfied with how it sounds. It was just a good time to her – she quit drugs, she had a successful album and tour, she was nominated for Golden Globe in 1996, she looked genuinely happy and glowing. People were mad cause she changed style – i think she changed style because of her acting career, to continue acting she probably wanted more polished look. But was it always that polished? She would hang out her tits onstage or dress as that „trash fairy” in 1999, so I’d say this glittery look was also partly ironic. And people saying she’s fake cause she chose acting career seem to forget she originally wanted to be an actress, she played in Sid and Nancy & Straight To Hell in 80’s.
People who say „oh she’s a fame whore” – well it’s not like she was ever hiding she likes/she always wanted fame. She wrote she likes fame because it’s challenging, because she gets off on it, etc.
I have mixed feelings about her designer clothes and red carpet looks and at times it seems fake to me too, cause red carpet is usually fake and embarrassing. It’s quite a contrast to her older punk & kinderwhore style. But people change with age anyway… Brody Dalle doesn’t look especially punk anymore, Kat Bjelland doesn’t wear dolly clothes. Emilie Autumn looks like a fucking christian grandma, sorry. Courtney Love likes designer clothes. *shrug*
However Courtney Love’s character and behaviour is consistent throughout the years, she talks the same as always. She doesn’t craft a new personality every few years like EA and she doesn;t erase her past like EA. She doesn’t milk her fans making overpriced shitty merch. It’s true it’s been a lot of years since she last released a CD, but she’s been releasing singles and touring A LOT during this decade, also engaging in fashion design and art. Emilie Autumn sits at home and makes stupid faces at her iPhone, produces more merch and doesn’t make/post music/play violin anymore.
The only thing I don’t like about her is how she can’t play guitar anymore. She used to know how to play guitar, you can watch any 1990-1995 show to see she knew how to play guitar. In CS era she would sing without guitar more, but she still could play. But after 2010 her abilities decreased a lot, someone leaked a sound of her live guitar and it turned out her playing became really… weak. She said after her cocaine use she lost ability to play and didn’t even know how to move her fingers, that she was learning playing all over again in rehab. Idk if something happened to her hands or if she’s just too lazy these days. It would improve if she just practiced everyday. Of course if you don’t practice you’ll get worse – i know it well cause i had a few years without playing guitar too. But it’s not like it’s impossible to improve. Other than that… yeah, i’m not really crazy about her designer clothes and event looks. I don’t like things like that. But she likes it, so why shouldn’t she go with that.
Courtney can be nice, can be mean, but she never flipped shit the same as Emilie Autumn. She likes fame but she knows where she fucks up while Emilie most of the time thinks she’s more famous than she is and is so full of herself. Courtney Love knows she’s not the greatest guitarist and singer, while Emilie thinks of herself as „virtuoso” and shades every other violinist in rock music (and violists), while in fact she is the epitome of „failed violinist”. She played music for easily impressionable fans who knew nothing about classical music, so it was easy for her to impress them with her fake violin playing with violin playback coming straight from the tape. It takes to be a high level of being a snowflake to claim you’re a virtuoso when in reality you never play live and if you do you play only scales, making beginner mistakes and being mediocre at most.
Emilie Autumn always presented everything about herself to be true and personal, people believed her and literally praised her for that, feeling connection with her because they had bipolar disorder or stayed at psychiatric hospital, or lost family in a fire for real… And then it turned out all of Emilie Autumn’s life was a lie. She was hiding a real bitch under the guise of this cool „virtuoso” goth bipolar girl Emilie Autumn. Every year brought some new drama, she was less and less credible. She behaved awfully and treated her fandom like shit repeatedly. I don’t know, i got interested in her at some point but i can’t stand her now & i don’t keep up with her stuff anymore (although i read on her latest blm drama), why bother yourself with someone who doesn’t respect anyone. You can dislike Courtney Love and i understand it, but I don’t see how she could be comparable to EA’s shit.
As for „idealized identities”… you realize that Courtney was on drugs most of her career? She would fuck up so much, getting ridiculed by the press and regular people. She would often embarrass herself unintentionally, she would often end up all smeared and tousled in a way that wasn’t planned as a „kinderwhore look for the evening”. Getting fat, getting horribly thin, sometimes looking nice but often looking what society perceives as ugly. People hated her and they still do. Her life was a mess at various points of her life and she was judged harshly… if that idealized version to you? People might preffer her kinderwhore days but when i look at it now, she had better days but some certain looks from early 90’s sometimes only highlighted how bad she felt at the time. Her most „ideal” version was 1996 and Celebrity Skin look, up to 2000 i’d say, she would wear nice clothes, brush her hair, add glitter, looking glam – as i said, she quit drugs in 1996 to be able to play in movies, i believe she wanted her life to change for the better, to try to be happier, to look nicer and cleaner and to set an example for her daughter. I think it’s awesome that she manager to get better, i wish i could change my life. Unfortunately in 2003 she went downhill again, this time it was in some days even worse cause she got into cocaine and something else, her album was a flop (interestingly, there was another, rockier version of American’s Sweetheart but Virgin Records told her to rerecord everything and put out worse songs), she would end up in court, she would lose the custody of Frances and had to go through drug tests and rehabs. She had ED i think, she gained a lot of weight at the time then went to stick thin. It was dragging on and you know how it went later, she was better and worse moments, still doing prescription drugs on and off, flopping with new version of Hole. I haven’t checked what she’s doing these days and kind of lost track but i think she’s so much better now and successful, she’s got fans wanting to see her live, she reunited with Hole members and she released a few solo singles that were actually fucking awesome (Courtney don’t be shy, make a new album, you actually write good songs recently). „Idealized identities”, well she’s as idealized as Amy Winehouse, lol.
Courtney is human and makes mistakes all the time, but she doesn’t get offended when someone points them out and acknowledges her mistakes. Emilie Autumn thinks she does nothin wrong, she’s always right and if you don’t like it, fuck you, get outta her house, fucking patronizing fucking. Idk why should i explain it any longer, it’s obvious.

The Beach Boys go to the Museum
A crackfic. Read if you want to immediately lose all your brain cells.
---
Once upon a time, Brian Wilson was daydreaming about girls going to the museum which was very educational. More educational than daydreaming about girls which is good for you which is why he was daydreaming about going to the museum instead of girls.
“Yoo hoo brothers!” he said.
“What is it, big brother?” shouted Dennis and Carl Wilson from another part of the Beach Boys ResidenceTM
“I have decided to go to the museum which is a very educational activity for us to do which will be beneficial for us,” said Brian. “I will call our cousin, Michael Edward Love, and our friend, Alan Charles Jardine.”
“Oh ok, big brother,” the two younger Wilsons said. “As soon as we get out of the shower and clothe ourselves (which will probably align with the arrival of our cousin, Michael Edward Love, and our friend, Alan Charles Jardine), we shall take off in the Beach Boy MobileTM to go to the museum as you wish.”
T I M E S K I P
“Incredible,” said Carl Wilson. “We have finished showering and being clothed just as our cousin, Michael Edward Love, and our friend, Alan Charles Jardine, have arrived.”
“Now we can go to the Beach Boy MobileTM to go to the museum Brian Wilson, my big brother, wishes.” “I hate this story,” said Michael Edward Love, a man with no taste.
“Do not attempt to break the fourth wall,” said Brian Douglas Wilson, extremely annoyed at Mike Love’s lack of taste.
“Harrumph >:( !” harrumped Michael Edward Love.
Suddenly, Bruce Arthur Johnston appeared out of Norway. “May I come too?”
“Permission accepted,” said Al Jardine
T I M E S K I P
The beach boys arrived at the Museum of Interesting Plot which interested them very much. They headed into the museum, where they bumped into GASP! The Beatles - an English rock band formed in Liverpool in 1960 with a line-up comprising John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, who are regarded as the most influential band of all time.
“THE BEACH BOYS!” the bug boys ejected.
“THE BEATLES!” the sand children exclaimed.
“What a coincidence that we have bumped into you guys in the exact same museum,” said John Lennon. “I bet you were trying to sneak behind us and steal our songwriting ideas >:O”
“Absolutely not >:O” said Brian Wilson, putting his hands on his hip in a gesture of frustration. “I bet YOU were trying to sneak behind us and steal OUR songwriting ideas”
“We were not >:O” said Sir James Paul McCartney.
They started fighting and in the moment of anger, they broke!! The statue of David (not Crosby unfortunately for the statue of David Crosby has cursed the museum for over a century now)!!!!!!!
“HEY” said The Manager of The Museum (which was an unfortunate name given to him by his parents sad emoji)
“Oh no” said Brian Wilson.
“Oh no” said Carl Wilson.
“Oh no” said Dennis Wilson.
“Oh no” said Mike Love.
“Oh no” said Al Jardine.
“Oh no” said Bruce Johnston.
“Oh no” said George Harrison.
“Oh no” said Paul McCartney.
“Oh no” said Ringo Starr
“Yoko Ono?” said John Lennon. “My wife in the future, depending on the era.”
“OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” THERE WAS A CAR CRASHING INTO THE MUSEUM WHICH BROKE THE STATUE OF DAVID TENNANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IT WAS THE POOR MONKEES!!! IN THE MONKEE MOBILE!!!
“Ouchies!” said Micky Dolenz.
“OMG” said The Manager of The Museum (who happened to also be a clone of Ringo Starr) He was angry. Very angry. So angry, that he was angry. “You guys better pay for this.”
“But we can’t,” said the Beatles (for Brian Epstein did not give them their allowance that day)
“We can’t either,” said the Beach Boys (for they had already spent enough on getting a nintendo switch to play animal crossing: new horizons.
This is left the poor, poor Monkees. “Bruh we poor af.”
“Then you have to work to pay for it smh,” said The Manager of The Museum.
“OH NO!” said all of them at once.
“You must go around the museum to find three fragments of the broken statue that you have broken, which somehow have been transported into the museum which you must complete challenges to get!”
“Like Dora the Explorer?” asked George Harrison, the youngest member of the Beatles.
“Yea,” saidThe Manager of The Museum. “Ok bye im gonna play animal crossing: new horizons now :))))))”
“Ok. We must split up into three groups.”
BEACH BOYS SECTION - THE HALL OF THINGS THAT HAVE TO DO WITH WATER
“Wow, how convenient is that we have coincidentally walked into the hall of things that have to do with water,” said Denny Wilson. “It is as this was planned.”
And then…………………….”oh my god a wave,” said M*ke Love.
“QUICKLY INTO THE BEACH GEAR” shouted Brian Wilson as they proceeded to use the sims animation to change into their beach gear. “NOW WE MUST.,,,,,,,,,,,,.,.,..,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,..,.,.,.,..,.,.,”
“We thro Dennise into da water bc he is da only 1 who can surf XD” said Mke Luv as he tossed Deniise into da water liKE A BOSS AND HI-FIVES ALL ROUND WAPOOSH WAPOOSH TAHK YOU GUYS FOR WATCHING AND I’LL SEE U IN THE NEXT VIDEO!!! *outro plays*
“Ahem,” said Ctrl. “We did not bring a surfboard,,,,,,,,so how is he supposed to surf??? Thonk emoji. Lmfao roasted XD”
“We use (drumroll pls) AL SARDINE as Da Surfboard Lmao!!!” said Miiiiiike lov e as they all jumped on Al Jardine.
“I did not feel a thing, lol” said ALAN JARDINE because he was a super strong boy (stock image of a blond guy flexing his muscles).
Surfing montage.
Surfing montage.
Surfing montage.
Surfing montage.
Surfing montage.
Surfing montage.
Surfing montage.
Surfing montage.
Surfing montage.
Surfing montage.
Surfing montage.
Surfing montage.
“Bruh we reusing animation bro,” said Denal Wilson.
“Oh look an island,” said Brain. Dey all hopped off and landed on the island. On the island was Kurt Cobain.
“Wow Mr Kurt Cobain,” said Broose Honda. “I did not know you lived on dis island.”
“I don’t rofl,” said Coq Au Vin as he handed them a statue fragment.
“Oh wow thx Coco Van,” as they flew away.
MONKEE SECTION - THE HALL OF….I DONT KNOW
“Lmao is that Stephen Arthur Stills, an American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist best known for his work with Buffalo Springfield and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young,” joked Micky Dolenz, pointing to a mirror in front of Peter Tork.
“Lol yeah,” said Stephen.
Micky screamed.
“Here you go broski,” said Stephen Stills, handing them a fragment.
“But what did we do?” asked Mike Nesmith.
“Allowing the author to make the awful, often repeated annoying joke about me and Peter Halsten Thorkelson looking like identical twins.”
“Ok thanks brewski,” said the Monkees as they headed off. “Come on Peter, don’t just stand there.”
“But I’m Stephen.”
“Wait,” said Davy. “But Peter was standing there just now.”
“No, I was standing there.”
The Monkees looked at each other and had a collective sigh. It was not gonna be as easy as they thought.
And to make this complication more complicated, the author decided to make David Crosby, Graham Nash and Neil Young walk into the scene.
“Bro Stephen wtf,” said Neil. “I knew you were small but I didn’t think you could crawl into the vents like that.”
“But I’m Peter??????????”
“Oh no not again,” said Graham Nash, already getting another headache.
“Wait, wait wait, just a moment,” said Davy Jones. “Go back a bit. What do you mean by crawling through the vents.”
“Please do not question the plot,” threatened David Crosby.
“YUH DAVY” said Micky. “Come on now, Peter,” - he grabbed Peter’s hand -” we gotta advance the plot.”
“But I’m Stephen.” Micky looked at him with such an expression that expressed a deep amount of hatred for the author. “It doesn’t matter. You guys are the same person anyway.”
The other lads shrugged and took poor Peter Halsten Dorkelson who was too confuzzled and befuddled and bamboozled to be crying.
BEATLES SECTION - THE HALL OF PAPERWORK
“This is so boring,, (-_-)” said Jawn Jennon. “I think George Harrison fell asleep.” “L M A O i did rofl lol,” said Heorge Garrison.
“I am surprised because there is so much paperwork lying about that all look so boring!!” said Paul McEyelash.
“Someone should clean this up smh,” said Ringone Starone.
“YAAWWWWWWWWWWWNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!” they all sed at 1nce. That yawn pushed a stack of paper off a table, which caused a chain reaction, leading to a bucket falling down, a train being activated, a cow mooing and the members of Queen being awoken from their frozen-in-som-kind-a-tube state.
“BRO WTF WHOMST WOKE US UP (((p(>o<)q)))” said Roger Taylor, stretching. “I was still having my beauty sleep.”
“(O.O) omg (O.O)(O.O) oh mah gawd (O.O)(O.O)(O.O)” said Freddie Mercury. “Are those (O.O)(O.O)(O.O)(O.O) the legendary (O.O)(O.O)(O.O)(O.O)(O.O)(O.O)(O.O)(O.O) bug boys????????”
“Ja” said gH.
“ヽ(★ω★)ノ” said Brian May
“(¬_¬") smh you woke up my cheese toast,” said John Deacon.
“I guess, we should thank u for waking us up,” said Freddeh.
“We wuz nevah gonna wake up,” said Briaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan Mei.
“Take dis,” Rogah Taylah gave them a statue fragment that had landed in his hair.
“Wow thanks that was EZ lmao,” said the bug boys as they went away.
T I M E S K I P
“(●^o^●)” said The Manager of the Museum as he stuck the broken statue fragments of the broken statue of the Museum of Interesting Plot Idea (well I think that what it was called Lmao I didn’t check don’t correct me doe lel)
“It was’t very challenging at all doe…” said Sand Children. “And for a story with out name in the title, we did not seem to get much attention at all.”
“Shut up you’ll get your moment later,” said the others pointing down to the rest of the story. “See look at that.” “None of this is very good,” said Mike Hate, a man with no taste.
They all went into their respective vehicles and drove away.
“WAIT!!!!!!” said Dave Jone of the Monkees, pausing the time. “We did not resolve the plot point of us actually kidnapping Steven Stills?????”
“Help me,” said Stepe.
“STFU IT’S OUR STORY (◣_◢)” said the beach of the boys, so infuriated with them that smoke came out of their ears like a boiling kettle and their eyes started glowing red which indicated anger.
“Oh ok sorry lel, he’s British Lol,” said Mike Nesmith.
“STFU Myke Gessmith.”
“;~;” said Mike Nukesmith.
“Y do u guys always have to take the spotlight?!” asked the Beaky Bubs.
“Bc we’re the author’s favourites, unfortunately,” said Micky, shivering at the memories of what had happened to them before in previous crack fics.
“Sux for u lmao.”
Uh how to end dis. Boom. Story done lel.

I guess yeah, it depends on how old you were and if you were younger than Alex. I'm around his age and discovered the band with the first album. I didn't exactly see the "sensitivity" in When The Sun Goes Down and Still Take You Home but related to other things he wrote about given we were at the same stage in life. // I wouldn't describe When the Sun Goes Down as sensitive but I would say it's empathic. I can't imagine the current Alex write anything about a sex worker from any other perspective than that of a potential client. And yeah, I joined in during the Humbug era, which was a thirst trap for my teenage brain, lol. I mean, he did seem kinda mysterious and all. But it also debunks the myth that the teenage influx came with AM. It was always the case.
True, it's empathic but also not exactly your regular 'boyband' content. Didn't see Backstreet Boys or Take That sing about hookers and their hard lives. lol
And wow, Humbug, huh? If I had discovered them then I would've probably kept it moving. Although Humbug Alex totally gave me Kurt Cobain vibes which wasn't entirely a turn off. lmao

Questions Tag Game
[Super late guys, sorry.] And, I’m going to cheat a bit. I was tagged by both @squeezemylemon and @bonnyscotch but I’m splitting the questions because some I don’t know enough about or don’t have an opinion on and that would just be boring (and these shouldn’t be boring, right? Well, mine still might be lol)
1) You can have one night of wild passion with George Harrison or spend the rest of your life with Eric Clapton, which do you choose? George Harrison! Such a sweety and he probably had some tantric sex skills. 2) Biographies or autobiographies of musicians? This is tough.. You have to read them each with a grain of salt because some sources may not be entirely truthful, while the autobiographies can be quite biased and may be painting the image they want you to see. Jimmy has said, albeit jokingly perhaps, that his autobiography won’t be published until after he’s dead. I desperately hope he has a dirty tell-all ready to be published posthumously (which better not be for like another TWENTY EIGHT years or something***)
3) Spend a day carousing with Bonzo or talking with John Paul Jones?
Ah, good god. This is torturous. I’m sure Bonzo would be a ton of fun, but I probably couldn’t stomach some of the antics he would enjoy so I’ll take a day chatting with JPJ!
4) If you could dress like any classic rock musician for a whole year, who would you choose and why?
Janis Joplin! Because the colors! The layers! The fabrics! And all those necklaces... oh and she was often braless!
5) If you could bring one classic rock musician back from the dead, would you? Who and why?
Aw, shit. I would have to say Bonzo. I’m not sure what would have been in store for Zeppelin had he lived- perhaps they would have burnt out anyway- but I would have loved to see them have the chance.
6) What do you think about Courtney love? Do you believe she killed Kurt Cobain?
I’m not a big fan of Courtney (although I have respect for her in some ways) because my BF never liked her and thought she killed Kurt, so I was kind of biased before I learned about it on my own. I saw Soaked in Bleach and it certainly presented a lot of burning, unanswered questions... but I can’t say for sure.
7) You can attend any concert from the past you want, which one would it be?
I’ll have to say Woodstock, just for the experience of it all. It’s the epitome of the peace and love era, and I’ve always been pulled to that- the drugs, the free love, the communal living, and of course, the music.
8) You can only listen to music from one decade, which one would it be?
70s rock for sure!
9) Do you listen to modern rock? If you do, what bands do you like?
Yep, but apparently not as much as I thought I did.. The only modern rock bands I really like (that are still producing records) are Papa Roach, Halestorm, Dorothy, Mayday Parade and Greta van Fleet.
10) What do you think about David Bowie?
I’m not big into his music (I basically just know the radio hits) but I love him as a person. He was a uniquely unique individual, shattering stereotypes and societal expectations with a bang. I wish he were still with us and spreading his magic <3 Though I suppose he still is in some ways.
11) Do you read or write fan fiction?
Indeed, both! TBH, I first discovered this wonderful world of Tumblr while searching for NSFW Led Zep stories. And I fell in love with you guys and never left. And now I write so I can live vicariously through it LOL
(Thank you both for tagging me and to anyone reading this! I love getting to know you guys but can be a bit antisocial so it means a lot when you reach out!) <3 <3 <3

Please do the autumnal asks!!!
Hi! Sorry that took awhile. I had to wait for the desktop at my dad’s house to be free since I don’t have a computer and it’s a lot to type on mobile. Thank you for asking, that’s incredibly sweet and I really needed the fun distraction today
pumpkin spice: what’s your drink of choice? Alcoholic, I like vodka. Non-alcoholic, I like iced coffee.
wool socks: what’s something you look forward to in fall? My birthday.
falling leaves: you’re stranded on a desert island and here’s the twist; what three things do you NOT bring with you? That’s hard because I dislike way more things than I like. I guess a care in the world, a sense of hope, and a bible? LOL.
smelly candles: what’s your absolute favorite scent? A perfume I have that I think is called Chloe Love or Love by Chloe. I only have a tiny amount so I savor it. I only use to anoint things in important spellwork or when I’m planning something big with my fiance. I will wear it at my wedding.
big sweaters: do you prefer the cold, warmth, or a perfect in-between? I prefer cold.
halloween: if you could dress up as anyone/ anything and pull it off absolutely flawlessly, who/what would it be? I don’t really like to be anyone but me.
cozy blankets: where do you feel the most safe and at home? With my fiance. I have always felt most safe in liminal spaces, especially airports. I’ve never really lived in the same place for more than two years at most and I’ve always been pretty poor. My mother was/is abusive and I’ve lived with her for the last few years so “home” has never been somewhere I’ve been happy to come back to. My fiance is my rock and my constant.
hot tea: when was the last time you kissed someone (if you haven’t had your first kiss, who would you like that first someone to be?) I last kissed my fiance on the 5th when I left Casper. I get to kiss him again tomorrow night when he flies in here - and this time, it’s a one-way ticket.
flannel: what’s your favorite day of the year? is there a reason it’s your favorite? Nov 27th because it’s my birthday and I love attention. Also my fiance’s birthday because he’s the best thing ever and I love to celebrate him. He’s turning 42 next year and is dreading it but I’m going to make it fun.
chilly air: what’s your least favorite and favorite type of weather? Least favorite is hot and sunny. My favorite is warmish rain with an almost black sky.
scarves: if you could only wear one outfit for the rest of your life what would it be? A comfortable Nirvana shirt, a matching plaid flannel jacket, some comfortable black jeans, and simple flats that are color-coordinated with the rest of my clothes. A little choker, too.
apple cider: if you could throw a party, and invite absolutely anyone, who would they be? I’d invite Neil DeGrasse Tyson and resurrect Kurt Cobain I suppose.
haunted houses: what’s your scariest memory? (if you don’t have one/ don’t want to talk about it, what’s your biggest fear?) My scariest memory is the first time I snapped enough to warrant going to the psychiatric hospital. My other “scariest” memory is when I lived in Sweden and my house was super haunted. My best friend and I felt like the spirits chased us out out of the house one night with their negative energy so we sat in her car with my dog across the street and watched the lights turn on and off. My friend took pictures of the house and we found multiple faces in the windows.
fuzzy boots: if you could live in any year/era, which would it be and why? I’d like to live in the 70′s/80′s/90′s. I feel like it was more simple but still not conservative and technologically devoid. I like the media and the style and my dad has such fun memories of being a teen/young adult in the 70′s/80′s and my boyfriend’s stories of being a teen in the 80′s/90′s are great too.
thanksgiving: what is something/someone you’re the most thankful for? any particular reason? I’m most thankful for my fiance. We’re two awkward degenerate misfits and never thought we’d find what we found with each other. I’d probably have killed myself this year without him.
black friday: what is one thing, if anything, you would sell your soul to own? I’ve pondered that question now and then. I’m not one for material things. I love the Dollar Store and coupons and can’t understand people who want mansions or diamond rings. But maybe for ultimate knowledge, if there was a way I could use it to help humanity before I expired. Maybe I’d sell my soul if it meant we could establish a safe and permanent habitation on another planet.
apple picking: if you could go anywhere, where would it be and why? I’d like to go to Africa. I just think it’s interesting. I know a lot about it and it’s geography. South Africa or Namibia would be my first choices but some of the smaller West African countries or Malawi would be fun too.
corn mazes: do you have any secret talents/abilities? It’s not really a secret but I’m fucking amazing at anything social studies related, especially geography. It’s my autistic obsession.
hay rides: if you could pick absolutely anything to be your form of transportation, what would it be? A high speed, clean, electric train.
the color orange: do you have a specific song that reminds you of autumn? what is it? No.
windy nights:if you could go to any concert whose would it be? Nirvana :( Green Day now I suppose. Concerts in general make me uncomfortable. I hate crowds, people touching me, and loud noises.
holding hands: do you believe in soulmates? Absolutely and I’m engaged to mine.

Lol there as also the peak emo era of alt-rock from the mid 90s to late 2000s. Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Green Day, Panic! At the Disco, etc. I don't think Kai would necessarily like it, but I think he would be interested in the evolution of popular alt-rock.
He knew about Kurt Cobain dying and he seemed a fan, so Bonnie telling him about Dave Grohl's band Foo Fighters might pique his interest.
Don't forget the great boy and girl band movement of the 90s that exploded shortly after Kai's imprisonment. Musical groups with multiple vocals popped up everywhere, in all genres, during that period (we're going through a revival atm too)
Songs popular during Bonnie's adolescence aka songs she could choose for herself if she liked or not:
Like a G6 by Far East Movement
Fergalicious by Fergie OR Big Girls Don't Cry by Fergie
Any Pussy Cat Dolls song
Any Kesha, Lady Gaga, or (as you mentioned) Rihanna song
Single Ladies by Beyonce for sure, that song was fucking inescapable
Hollaback Girl by Gwen Stefani, the song that taught everyone how to spell bananas
Sad Bruno Mars era.
Linkin Park (rip Chester) and any of their songs tbh, they were the pinnacle of teen angst during that time frame.
Definitely look up top-charting songs on billboard tho.
Hope that helps!
Seeking insp. from the Bonkai fam for a fic I’m writing: If Bonnie were to make Kai a mixtape of songs to ‘catch him up’ on what he’d missed while imprisoned/in hell, what are the quintessential bangers she’d include?? According to TVD timelines he’s indisposed from May 1994 - sometime 2012/2013 and then in hell from June 2013-Feb 2018.
I’m trying to think of what Bonnie would see as the classics of those years. Tunes I’m thinking of including:
- SZA, Anything (just because it’s my insp for the fic) - Tal Bachman, She’s So High (because of obvi parallels haha) - TLC, No Scrubs (because it’s a fkn classic and just imagine King of Grunge Malachai Parker having to listen to such a bop) - Just a classic era trawl of what Bonnie would have grown up with - Destiny’s Child, The Killers, Rihanna…?
Help pls!

Musical Romanticism with Ahmad of We Are Imaginary
Ahmad is one of those cool dudes who play awesome pink guitars, and of those people keep it simple with their music and gear. His band We Are Imaginary recently celebrated their ten years in the industry by releasing their newest single, Dekada. We look a bit into Ahmad’s gear and his humble beginnings.
Photo by Nestor Domingo Jr./The Slickmaster’s Files
How did you start making music and playing guitar?
Ahmad: Making music, it came first, even without an instrument. I was changing the lyrics of Andrew E’s songs, while in 4th grade. That dream was scrapped when I heard Guns N’ Roses’ “Use your Illusion II.” I think Khalid (WAI’s guitarist) was responsible for that borrowed cassette. Then I was introduced to the grunge movement and the genius of The Eraserheads courtesy of my older cousins from Manila. During those times, I was so inspired that I would fill up notebooks with songs I wrote with matching album covers.
Plus it was the 90s! Everyone was learning guitar. I was envious that my cousins can play and was determined to learn. My parents were persuaded to buy an acoustic guitar made by a local luthier. It was pretty heavy and has high action and big frets, but I didn’t care. They then enrolled me in this summer guitar tutorial class where I learned how to strum, pluck, then transpose chords (handy when I can’t play the bar chords version of my favorite songs). I attended more or less 8 hours’ worth of exercises. I would go home and teach Khalid what I’ve learned. That was the summer before high school. Also, Hothits played a big part in learning new songs.
How did your band start out?
Ahmad: Before I went to Manila in 2008, I already expressed to my brother and Eric Po (former drummer) that I wanted to form a band that focuses on “real” songwriting and is inspired by the sound of the British and Swedish indie-pop bands I love. I used to play for this rock/blues band in Legazpi (Albay), but they don’t want to leave for Manila and test the waters. I was having a quarter-life crisis then, so I just left. The move I guess was expected and needed for my growth since I was already writing differently. Luckily, my (new) bandmates all trusted my material, which eventually became our 1st EP.
Who are your main influences? And how did they inspire you to play better?
Ahmad: I am very much into Weezer and Nirvana – bands from that era. But my timeless favorites are The Smiths and Death Cab for Cutie, which I discovered when I was already out from college. Just proves that your sound doesn’t stop evolving. So for me, it’s more about the songs than technical proficiency – and yes, that’s a good excuse to justify that I’m the most untechnical guitarist out there LOL.
I call my style “kanto guitar” because what I learned in Grade 6, I still use now. I can’t shred to save my life. I’m more of an open chords guy so if you hear some repetitive melodic riffs in our songs, that’s probably me as I got that from listening to a lot of 90s Britpop and new wave bands.
If I force myself to dissect my style, it’s more like marrying the dynamics and chordal elements of Kurt Cobain with a bit of Robert Smith and Billy Corgan. Just way sloppier I guess.
I enjoy making up chords and building the song from there. When it comes to words, I always ping-pong between Ben Gibbard and Rivers Cuomo (and apparently failing on both counts) so marrying those elements I think makes up my style.
Tell us about your music.
Discussing how to define our sound with my friend, Jon (of The Strange Creatures), I realized that we are in that tiny grey area where we can’t decide to be purely indie (the genre!) or pop. I mean I don’t think about it when I am writing songs but I can relate to The Cure or The Smiths' repertoire, where you’ll hear some jangly happy tune then you get this morose sounding ditty on the next track. I guess that’s what defines the We Are Imaginary sound too.
My band is currently in the process of arranging songs for a new album. We have enough material to fill another release, but time constraints and invoking that right headspace can be quite a hassle.
Cover Art for the song, Dekada.
And oh, we have just released the music video of our latest single Dekada. A new single will be out probably this October.
Tell us about your guitars. Which is your favorite one and why?
My main guitar has always been this 1984 Squier Telecaster (MIJ) which I had repainted to pastel pink (courtesy of Sir Max Rufo). I called this one “Areola” and was used to record our 2 EPs. I think Khalid got it from a trade and he let me use it ever since I moved here. It was also modified to house a DiMarzio pickup and double rail pickup (forgot the brand). Safe to say, it is not your usual Tele sound.
I then used a Peavey JF-1 Black Hollow Body. It was Khalid’s, and he used it for our 2 EPs too. I used it for recording Death to Romanticism along with a frankenstein Teisco EP2-L (which can’t seem to stay in tune out of old age). Sold both to get a 90’s yellow Danelectro ‘59 (MIK). I love this Dano guitar as it got this sick twang plus I am really biased towards pastel colors. I call her “Nana.” I miss the Peavey guitar though.
This Cort guitar is a favorite since I do acoustic sets from time to time. It just got that warmth that not most guitars have.
I still dream of owning a Guild Starfire IV and a Fender Mustang. Soon I guess.
Let’s take a look at your pedalboard. What effects do you use live?
I just assembled my first pedal board a year ago. I used to be contented with a Zoom G3 ‘cause it’s just neat and practical. Now I have a Caline Pure Sky for my main drive, Proco Rat II (a gift from good friend/bandmate Siopao Chua of Taken by Cars/Olympia Maru) for additional heavy boost, a Rowin mini tuner and the aforementioned Zoom G3 for modulation, pre-amp, and EQ. Khalid’s hibernating Boss DD3 will soon join the pile as well as an EHX Holy Stain – after it gets modded by Howard Luistro’s (of Oh, Flamingo!) dad. I am currently gas-ing over this local brand PedalBot’s Royal Grit. It may soon replace the Pure Sky, but let’s see.
What amps do you use at home and live?
I don’t own an amp at the moment. I used to have a 15-watt Vox and a Guyatone practice amp but sold them when bills were piling up. I guess I am one of the few guitarists who prefers a solid state than a tube amp.
Favorite amp? I dream of owning a Roland JC-120 though I am not sure if it will work with my sound yet.

What are you listening to right now?
In heavy rotation are Young Scum’s self-titled LP, Sobs’ Telltale Signs, Wild Nothing’s Indigo, as well as Vansire’s old LP Reflections and Reveries. I can’t wait to hear Death Cab for Cutie’s new album.
What advice can you give to your fellow guitar players and musicians who want to play like you do?
Never stop discovering new music. Everyone has a favorite era, but when you stop appreciating new bands and keep insisting that there’s nothing new or exciting out there, you will realize soon enough that your learning is stalled. We belong to this weird ecosystem where we feed off from each other’s spark of creativity, so don’t be a dead end.
