Work was difficult on those days Leonard couldn't often muster up the motivation to do anything. It had been a long, tiresome, gruesome day, and beyond the regrets and wishes for death which so frequently plagued his mind on those darker days, the desire for sleep had stayed the most prominent. Leonard, whose nerves and patience normally ran thick as steel, had found themselves surprisingly short seeing Popshi on the other side of his flat door. Had he been in any more of a foul mood, he would have been honest with himself: Didn't this man have anything better to do...? Most days, he could tolerate Popshi, at times he didn't even mind him. Now was not one such time, and while it should have been evident in the slight tightening of Leonard's jaw listening to the other's excited greeting - in one ear and out the other - his humanity had (for better or for worse) remained intact to the point of silent resignation at whatever plans Popshi would undoubtedly end up springing on the other with each step further into his own home. What would it be this time? It exhausted him just thinking about it. Would he have taken the liberty to redecorate the kitchen? Get rid of all the doors? Filled the fridge with Pepsi and god-knows-what-else? He had hoped, but seriously doubted his reluctance to nod along as he normally had would get through to the other, as Leonard had still heard his voice after collapsing on the couch. It seemed his desperate attempt at "Ignore him, and he'll go away" wasn't working. Yet, without the gall or energy to be direct and risk offence (Which undoubtedly would become a whole hell of its own) and no other choice left to him, Leonard simply remained still, and found himself slowly drifting into a half-slumber... ...One arm dangled off the couch, and the other covered over his eyes. For the past fifty minutes, perhaps, Leonard had laid still as a corpse, having stayed so still it would have almost been a concern... If not for the way he so jarringly shot to life at the words "Dye" and "Hair" spoken directly above him. Perhaps the first thing Popshi had heard from him since his return was the gasp for air that was as if the poor man had been woken from a nightmare, a hand raised and run through his hair in temporary bewilderment before he turned to look towards the source of the voice with shock - his hair was still blond. It was still safe. Popshi, however... He wanted to apologise. He really did, and after all was done and past, he most likely would. But unfortunately for poor Popshi, Leonard's patience had finally run out. Without a word, Leonard swung his partially numbed legs from the couch and stood. Popshi was seized by the back of the collar. Perhaps a bit too rough than what he intended, but of little concern in the moment as the poor thing was dragged from the small and humble living room, through the entrance, and finally was near tossed into the hall - Leonard hadn't been brutish in his strength, but certainly direct as his tone as the door slammed shut and the sound of a lock was heard behind it, paired with a string of no more than three, simple words: "Leave. Please go." Take of it what he would, Leonard at least sounded tired and exasperated enough to convey that it was nothing personal - Popshi could only be left to hope and pray it would remain that way once the exhausted mechanic made way to clean up after his concocted "dye".

This man, if he was to get you anything for Christmas, it'd be some simple piece of jewlery that doesn't cost that much.

If you're serious serious in this relationship, like you've been together since Highschool, think 5 years. There's a small chance it'd be his mom's engagement ring. Not the wedding ring of course, Sodapop keeps that close to his body at all times. (I will always write about how Darry would propose, sue me.)

He'd wrap it up in a little bit of tissue paper and then put it in a bag. If it's a necklace, he'd help you put it on and kiss you after.

Keith "Two-bit" Matthews:

This man is a joker through and through, so the first gift is a joke gift. Something to get him laughing and you a bit upset, but he'd never over do it.

The joke gift would be something like chocolates (if you don't like them) or a box of coal.

But his actual gift is a lot more thought out than you might think. It's a butterfly knife, stolen just like his. It's something he hopes you don't have to use but you'll have just in case.

Dallas "Dally" Winston:

Dally doesn't do Christmas. He just doesn't. Don't ask, don't tell.

But if Christmas gifts are really your thing, he'll steal you some kind of expensive piece of clothing you were looking at.

Does he wrap it? No, not at all. He loves you, but not that much.

Sodapop Patrick Curtis:

Sodapop would have a hard time picking something to give to you for Christmas. But, he'd get you something with his own money. Maybe it'd be something small related to your hobby.

He'd get you something nice from his DX funds, think like new paint brushes if you paint or a roll of polaroid blanks if you do photograpgy.

He'll wrap it up with help from Darry. Nice little packaging or bag depending on what hobby you have and what he got you.

Steve Randle:

Something homemade. He does work at the DX but his money is pitted towards his survival, so he'll make you something for Christmas.

Maybe a little wooden heart or a few metal roses. Like that little picture captioned with "I will love you until this rose wilts", that kind of metal rose. That's what he'd get you.

He'll tie it up with a little bow or ribbon and give it to you with a kiss under the mistletoe.

Johnny Cade:

Much like Steve, Johnny doesn't have much money for gifts. So he'll take you out to dinner or make dinner for you.

I see him as a quick learner and he's always watching when others cook. So he'll pull out some of Darry's recipes and make you a wonderful dinner to the best of his abilities.

He'll meet you at the door, pull you inside, and treat you like a princess the whole night. He'll even dress up (with what he has) and wine and dine you for Christmas. He loves you, trust.

Ponyboy Michael Curtis:

He's drawing you for Christmas. His gift will be customized artwork of you.

When I say customized art work, I think he'll have a refrence photo of you and he'll draw you with words he thinks describe you. Something like this.

When he gives you the picture, it'll be in a little envelope with the sweetest little christmas love note. He's cheesy, don't hold it against him.

YOUR MIND KNOWS EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT. Trust yourself.

When you let your mind be free, let it play around you might even get ideas and clarity! For example, like when I let my mind wander I got a better idea of how I want one of my DR bedroom to be, i didn't thought about curtains and plants but my mind suddenly showed my the image and it was SO PERFECT AJAJSH like yes bish that's exactly what I want! So I got this idea because I wasn't forcing anything, any picture. So your mind knows even better.

So, you’re trying to visualize your dream life, but the image keeps going blurry like a bad WiFi connection? Don’t worry, bestie I got you. 😔💅🏻 Here’s how to level up your visualization game so your manifestations hit different.

• Details?

It's definitely better to visualise in details like for shifting, the colour of the walls, the feel of the sheets. and for manifesting, if you're manifesting df let's say, visualising looking in the mirror, your lips shape, etc. But you don't have to cuz there's no right or wrong way. You should do what works for you the best. Don't put pressure on yourself.

If someone has trouble seeing the image with details, it's okay to not worry about the details, you can use other senses, like how it feels, smells. That brings me to our next pointtt

• Engage all your senses (Because Your Brain is Dramatic Like That)

If you can’t see the image clearly, FEEL it, get THE FEELS. Hear it. Smell it. Taste it (only if applicable, pls🫢😭).

Don’t just see it—feel the emotions, hear the sounds, smell the scents, and touch the textures, that it feels SUPER real.

Example: If manifesting money, imagine holding crisp bills, hearing them rustle, and feeling the excitement. (I can smell it rn 😤💸 all this bread so yummy yeah)

• Can't hold the image?

use motion not just still images. (cuz I wanna see it in 3d, in motion), It used to happen to me too, i picture something and it start to fade or get blurry. But in that case i realised it's easier to hold it if it's a moving scene, like a scenario. Instead of holding a still image, visualise a small scene. Static images fade, but movement keeps them alive. Movement makes it real. ✨

• Embody the Feeling NOW

Just read chapter 17! It was sooo worth the wait!

It totally flew over my head that nico and will got a apartment (had to go back and reread, lol) but I feel like someone needs make a pintrest board on what there house looks like, what do you imagine?

As soon as I read that will was going to a party I KNEW he was going to trigger nico with alcohol. It was really sweet though how he just kept confessing his love to nico, I couldn't keep giggling at that part

so sorry it took so long for me to respond to this!!! at first i wanted to wait till i was able to make a pinterest board, but then i couldn't really find exactly what i wanted (but still made a board - here's the link!) so i decided i'd just describe it:

it’s a penthouse, and right now it’s veryyyy empty. they moved into it just before will’s next semester started so not much time to decorate!! they kept all like the basic furniture, so i do think they have a sort of living room connected to the kitchen - hold up, now i’m realizing i sorta based that layout off my uncles house. don’t know why i did that but!! we’re going with it. so they have two couches in the “living room” and a tv, leading to a kitchen with the generic appliances + a kitchen island - then i think that there’s a hallway with doors to one of the bathrooms, the guest room, and the studio, and then the master bedroom is also like. right across from the kitchen. if im even making any sense. i actually don’t know what a penthouse looks like so im just going off of pinterest vibes💯💯 anyway i think that eventually, they’ll also def have a lot of (fake) plants (bc lord knows they don’t actually have time to water and take care of plants), and LOTSS OF BLANKETS. i think that like almost every time they go to a target or smth to get smth they actually need, they walk out of the store with at least one blanket. they’re all over the couches, the beds, the chairs, idk why but i just want their apartment to be very very cozy :) aside from that, will 100% has his record collection moved to their room, with a few hanging from the living room- there’s definitely shelves of a bunch of awards or posters and things like that - A PHOTO WALL TOO!! definitely a photo wall. i also think that both nico and will are very messy, at least when they’re busy with something (and they always are) so every countertop and table and desk is filledddd with clutter. like so much. papers and textbooks and headphones and laptops they’re everywhere.

i realize it’s actually really hard to explain my vision for their apartment, which is funny bc i have a very specific layout in my head - and also one for nico’s apartment in so american btw!! so maybe sometime ill figure out how to draw a floor plan just so i can show yall what im thinking, but in the end, that’s the general vibe of it!!

also the fact that you're ace is very funny to me. why do ace people (me included, i am following your blog.) find the horniest parts of media. it's so strange.

Some people followed me for the cutesy art. Some of you forget that before you HEATHENS started calling me the Spicy Raeda artist I mostly drew wholesome young Raeda and Encanto.

As for why Ace people come up with the best sexual scenarios/funniest sex jokes. Probably because sex doesn't appeal to us the way it does to most people. So we have to think of unique ways to make it nteresting.

We don't get excited at the very idea of sex being mentioned (in some cases it's the opposite) nor fall for those lazy jokes in media where literally the joke is just that sex was brought up (ex: Character makes a sexual comment to another character or character gets puts in a sexual situation. Nothing witty is done but you should like it because sex is refrenced)

Although it depends on the characters and media for me. I gotta have that connection (and think they're hot-)

As someone who gave up drawing the time twins because armour difficult. How do you do it ;-;

I get that man. Drawing armor in general is hard, ESPECIALLY when having to translate it from a lego design. While their lego designs are great, it's difficult to translate alot of their designs into a more human style because they're usually vague enough to become frustrating. And in the case of armor, it's more difficult to draw when you don't have a clear idea of what's going on.

So I guess here, specifically for lego designs, my first tip will definitely be to take creative liberties on their armor designs. Draw it in ways that make more sense to you rather than trying to get it super accurate to canon, close enough works just fine.

Or, as you've definitely seen me and others do, design your own outfits for them! Work with what youre comfortable with then branch out!

My second tip- plan out the armor outfit before doing any extravagant drawings with it. This is completely optional of course, but in my experience having a clear idea of where the general shapes and joints of the armor lie helps alot for bigger drawings rather than just winging it.

The way I view it- Drawing armor has alot to do with spatial awareness and where the body needs to bend, looking at real armor refrences can help you understand how armor is built to work with a body. In most cases I find that armor is just a bunch of big overlapping shapes, though it can look more complex because of details like patterns or lining. It's always best to start with the big shapes, then go in with the details you are comfortable with drawing.

LISTEN I know that last part is such a "then add all the details" bomb but trust me when I say it's not as bad as it looks!! Lining on the edges of the armor is so simple yet it adds so much

And as basic as this last word of advice may sound- practice does make improvement. I wasn't one to draw armor before I started drawing the time twins, but persistence and working with it and my artstyle led me to work flows where it made sense for me. I actually credit the time twins for my improvements over the past year in quite a few things - armor, facial hair, hairlines.. drawing them over and over again has its perks.

Sol lore drop

a bit of stuff for my random for funsies heroes word mission inspired character Sol, because I'm bored so why not? warning light world mission spoilers, mainly on Beat. additionally she has to versions her original word mission for fun version, and a fanfic exclusive version because I kind of low key like her for being a for fun character.

so Sol isn't fully limited to heros, but that is where she started out. It mainly started with Beat and some details about him, mainly the fact he's actually a distant descendant of Goku. With the assumption of this meaning the series is like a very distant future to the GT timeline, we can now begin on who Sol is as a character and other stuff.

So beginning with her name Sol is actually coming from insolation, which should tell you that she uses the Frieza clan avatar option. this is inspired by the fact that some girls who play games with custom characters often choose masculine options, as many don't want any guys knowing for a number of reasons.

moving on to that GT timeline theory and inspired by beat's whole related to Goku thing, I added some of my love for giant monster movies so she's not a direct copy. So here's what happened pretty much: someone farther back wasn't fully cured at the end of the Baby saga, but he was already taken out by then and they were to weak so the dna just remained dormant in the bloodline.

coming around back to word mission Sol begins to register for the card game and start competing for the first time, Cooler is already her favorite character so she chooses the Frieza clan berserker avatar. as it's an easy option that easily hide's her feminine nature while playing, and Sol would rather not have people be rude or creepy about her being a girl. though her avatar has decorations on his horns, almost resembling earrings. (refrencing a type of jewelry a lot of people design for non human characters, in her case it's horn jewelry since her avatar doesn't have ears)

her avatar leans into Cooler further and resembles the level 3rd upgrade, additionally fully embracing the butterfly like shapes because that's what they remind me of, his back spikes are 4 instead of the 6 on the design furthering the accidental butterfly look. (the 3rd frieza clan berserker already looks a lot like Cooler's fourth form, it's just a little more with her because Froze leans into Frieza a bit more)

similar to Beat and everyone else she opens the first packet everyone gets, though in her case she obtains a Baby card that makes her feel really strange. Then when she's rounded up as an ally, her genetics don't reignite until she's pitted against Baby. From then on depending on how the player treats her, her role would change.

If the player is kind to her, she'll be a great ally that also gives boosts to her own team when used. Sol would also adopt other behaviors such as trading cards with beat and froze, mainly consisting of trading Frieza and Goku for cards related to Baby, Cooler, any card related to truffles or any card related to Cooler. (so that would mean Baby, Cooler, Dr. Lychee, Hatchiyack, the twins, any machine mutant or any of the armored squadron)

in game based thinking I imagine the player could trade a variety of cards for different ones, especially trading weaker ones or duplicate points to obtain a stronger card. Mainly I see her trade menu being a way to get some characters stronger, rather than just locking them away in the box.

in the event that the player is mean to her, Sol becomes a great enemy to the player. she starts becoming a time traveling nuisance, with no real care for the problems she causes. on the highest level of dislike, she ends up teaming up with certain canon characters. in other words she's someone you want to be nice to, because I imagine her having a really difficult boss battle if she was an actual game character.

both instances her tuffle and machine mutant genetics start affecting her avatar with time, making her resemble the frieza clan elite higher level designs more and more with time in the sense of robotic parts. slowly her design adopts more robotic parts, until eventually her design resembles an in between of an icejin and a machine mutant tuffle. her avatar keeps his black bodysuit, as it still fits in. (think kind of like Baby's roboform, with a bit of meta cooler influence)

her heroes team is: Her avatar, Super Baby 2, Cooler, Hatchiyack, Baby Vegeta, Salza and Baby (as in his adult form when he flees Vegeta's body)

moving on to her non heroes version I made for fics, because she does exist. note this version mainly happened because I wanted to write for her more often, but it's a bit more difficult if I keep her a heroes only character. this version also uses slight au context as well, mainly adding to prevent confusion.

this version technically isn't related to Baby, just like her heroes version isn't exactly either. it was just a mutation result from someone not being fully cured from his possession, and the egg just remaining dormant until the genetic remains awoke.

this version is a bit different the idea is that a surviving tuffle scientist out there, got a hold of an icejin child and just kind of experimented with her out of curiosity. it's less of a tuffle and android twins situation, and more of a Kiryu from godzilla against mechagodzilla situation. rebuilt rather than replaced pretty much, kind of saving her life in all honesty

she bares a resemblance to other characters as a result, a bit more masc presenting but still a girl. I chose her avatar over her more human design (which does exist), as I felt that her avatar design was a bit more interesting with the changes.

like her world mission counterpart the machinery is slowly taking over her body, but with her energetic personality she refuses to let it stop her. the moment Baby takes her in he can not get her off, this small child is surprisingly clingy and is glad to finally have a parental figure in her life. (Or two in some rare cases, no she is not locked behind Coolbabe specifically because she's adopted lol)

Constantly trying to train with the twins and Baby, if she's in a coolbabe fic she will do it with Cooler as well. It's sort of like present Trunks, only it's an absurdly hyper icejin kid that will hang on her parent(s) like a sloth. if you offer her a piggyback ride she'll be really happy, and you won't be able to get her off for the next few hours so be careful with that offer.

she sleeps in the weirdest positions like a cat, she can and will sleep in a tiny box do not challenge her on that. I am not joking when I say this child will sleep through anything, an earthquake could tear through and she will be snoozing the entire way through.

she runs circles around Frieza with her energetic nature, she can't do that with Hatchiyack because he'll just pick her up in a casual manner if she's being to hyper.

all in all Sol's au counterpart is a puppy natured goof that likes having affection and people who care for her for once, and wants nothing more than to enjoy that fact every single day.

I see where you're coming from, though I don't think that the way you are going about it is constructive or appropiate at all. Since you're on anon I can't say for sure if you're like 10 or 30, but I'm not mad either way.

So yeah I wanna give an honest answer to this, if anyone else feels the same way and maybe wants to have a discussion (though the whole anon thing feels like talking to a wall) you can really just talk to me. Ngl I am incredibly emotional and quick to get defensive, but the beauty of messages on the internet is is that I can give myself time to calm down and be rational and process these emotions before I respond. So Anon I hope that once you've hopefully seen my response that if you still feel a certain type of way about it that you can maybe give me the same courtesy. I just think that there's enough hate to hate communication on the internet already and I'd honestly truly appreciate the effort.

To start of I think it's ignorant to say that how I choose to enjoy my favourite media is ''uwuw-waifu bullshit''. People enjoy different things in many different ways. The way I do it is no different from D&D. There is a world with lore and characters that i adore and I love it so much that I want to experience it through something I've made. Making a character for a franchise is connected to so much research on the source material, as careful as it was crafted I take the time to think of many different ways to integrate a whole new person that hypothetically could fit like a DLC or you know, my player character (sometime it is more indepth than other times, but I always do research one way or the other).

Being put into Links shoes is a predetermined lens which i can enjoy as it's own story, but to me, I like to be a part of it either with a straight insert or an otherwise character of my own making. A tale of legend and heroic deeds is but one perspective and I love to see in what different ways this story or world can be enjoyed and looked at. And i don't think that this is wrong or something to look down upon. Just as is romance within that world and other bonds and relationships one will create and connect to their creation. Like how I made the windfish my OC's Father.

It is so much more than you make it out to be and I have had so many people throuought my art journey come to me and grief because they were bullied for simply having an oc be romantic with a canon character or god forbid a selfinsert or mary sue (and most of them were children, though I was more sad about the adults who's passion was taken from them before they could fully explore it). It is makebelief and hurts no one just because these people decided to share these scenarios with other people. I hope that in the future you can be less dismissive about that. I think it's important that we take the time to be kind, even if there's something we might disagree with and want to debate.

Now to the main point. To put it simply I think a character is allowed to be it's own entity regardless of intent, if ofcourse the intent isn't explicitly stated. (Like for example when they literally have Barack obama as a character in South park etc. Then that's not a refrence but a depicition) Which in this case it isn't actually. While researching what came up was filled with ''maybe'', ''possibly'', ''probably'' etc. More importantly though the game itself never states it and a game and franchise should always be able to be judged on it's contents alone wihtout outside remarks people may or may not have made.

Then there's also another character within the game. Botrick. His wiki also eludes to the fact that he might be a homage to Satoru. Wikis however are all written by fans and we can all just speculate even if the probability is very likely. The difference however is that Botrick shares a similar appearance with Satoru while the lord of the mountain has a similar name and I think both are tributes in their own right. Though Botrick may be a physical reference while Satori is a sort of spiritual tribute to him as a mentor and guardian figure. But it's still it's own character. Both of these characters aren't Satoru, the same as how actors aren't synonymous with the characters they play.

Also what if someone doesn't do deep dives into wikis and articles and forums? What if someone simply plays the game, enjoys it and make characters, contents AU's for it? What if had only read the genral wiki and not scrolled down to the trivia section where people first brought up it might be a tribute? I don't think that it should be neccessary to first get a bachelors degree in order to enjoy a game in fear of missing a detail that although never mentioned in the game was once maybe hinted at by someone. It feels like a roundabout and tiring way to enjoy a medium. And you should give people a fair chance and not come at them so aggressively, even if you're emotionally charged.

Having said all that, I was actually hesitant to make this idea I had using Satori for the same reason haha. Since I generally don't like characters that are meant to be real life people ( the same I don't like to ship with characters that are in canon relationships (hence i dropped Sidon UU ). With Satori however I felt it's removed enough that it's not an issue for me as explained above.

But I'm not opposed to the idea of changing a few things up! Names are changed in the blink of an eye and i am not uncreative enough to be incabalbe of thinking of different ways to incorporate my design into the lore. I could make it a blupee instead, or a descendant, or otherwise further removed entity with close ties to Satori. (My OC Dreem was close to being something like that before I thought of the windfish!) I simply adore these nature god archetypes like the forest god in princess mononoke and since in it's lore Satori was a sage before that died the idea of a humanoid version wasn't too far off for me.

So yeah, tell me what you think, I'm open for discussion and how other people see it as long as you give me the same courtesy and time that I did to formulate an appropiate response! I hope that we can all be kind to eachother and I wish you all a wonderful day!

Edit: it's not exact (note the lack of black lipstick and that every streak is red) but it's very similar?? Eerily similar. Here's the passages in the first chapter where ebony talks about her appearance (she does that a lot tbh)

Black corset with lace around it is a win, so is the general vibe of the hair and it's length, the eyeliner is about right but I THINK the only red I see is his waterline? Jury's still out on the leather miniskirt, fishnets, and combat boots. Eyes COULD be blue (it's too dark to tell) but the glasses definitely are. If we assume he misremembered it the same way I did in my convo with @fukkittz then the tears coukd be a refrence to fhe limpid tears line (altho rereading it, it seems to still be a description of eye color.)

Hello! I'm happy you like it!

In terms of the poses, searching the internet for poses or ideas is what gets me my inspiration for poses. search for a pose that you think describes the characters action or feeling. its a lot of references and trial and error. i usually sketch out a pose on paper before moving to digital as well. In terms of drawing said poses, i start with a base a little like this:

I don't know what program you use to draw digitally (i use ibis paint), but if it has layers then a sketch similar to this is how i start! after i find a pose, i sort of inflate the limbs during line art, kind of like a more rounded version of the paswg art style. idk how well that would translate to your already amazing designs for your critters, but it might be worth a try!

In terms of faces, i actually refrence sonic alot so i keep their mouth (fur, in dogday's case} lower on their heads unless they are looking up

That's mostly my proccess i guess? im sorry if the answer wasnt satisfactory or not what you're looking for and you're more than welcome to ask again for something specific but i hope this helps!

I think spoilers for the new MW3 Zombies mode. Just gonna put spoilers just in case, since this ia juat me gonna ramble again cuase I had to much free time today. I'm gonna start off with the negatives and then positives, since I kinda have some things to say

Just saw the recent trailer for MW3 Zombies. Ngl, I'm not really excited for it. I won't lie, I'm not very happy or excited to see the MW characters being apart of the Dark Aether story(I assume, since there seems to be refrences to Eddie/Director). Mostly since they have their own story that had/is already overshadowing Zombies. Yea, it's cool I guess. But I don't want characters that already have their own story and cannon to just be thrown into a game mode that had nothing to do with the characters in the first place

It might be me, but I prefeted original charatets that were made FOR Zombies than having the obvious "Buy this becuase you're favorite guy is in this game mode" characters. The problem also rises, when you have to consider the MW world's lore and its characters as cannon to the story of Zombies. On top of that, having to know WHEN this takes place and what events already happened within that world

On the positive side of things, I think this may give Zombies another chance into the sunlight after what happened in Vangaurd. Yes, I don't like having the most obvious of reasons to add fan favorite MW charater's into the Dark Aether story, I would prefer to have Zombies be and , hopefully, have a good story to give people a chance to get into the game mode.

It's a very wacky experience to possibly see a certain german/american guy named Eddie interacting with the MW characters, but it does also generate a bridge for both the Zombies community and the MW community to interacte and possible get into one another's game and/or story.

The BIGGEST thing I hope they don't do is remake Shi No Numa for the 5th time

The Daleks

The second serial of the First Doctor era. What an introduction to what will become one of the most prolific villans in Doctor Who history. The Daleks here are immaculate. Coming in as a NuWho fan, this episode is easily one of the most startling as NuWho doesn't have much content on Skarro. And the stuff we do have is mostly all desolate wastes. But here, this isn't the case. That's the theme for this review. Things that aren't the case at the start of this franchise.

The Doctor starts this episode by being a petulant child (how youthful). Even if i gave him the courtesy of saying he didn't know the planet was filled to the brim with toxic radiation, it doesn't excuse breaking his TARDIS to pretend like they have no choice but to stay here. This lie still eats at me a little because things could have gone much worse for everyone involved.

The Doctor gaslighting barbara, saying she definitely didn't get grabbed in the forest, irks me. You are a SPACE MAN, in an IMPOSSIBLE SHIP. Impossible things happen every day for you, and you can't believe that MAYBE something else still lives in that forest despite its current state? It's just blatant ignorance.

Susan holds a key role in this episode that saves the lives of everyone aboard the TARDIS. And her actress Carol Ann Ford immaculatly expressed the stress she is under in every way imaginable.

I didn't expect the Thal to be here. They are a breath of fresh air. I love their unified and distinct look and body language. The way they stick together even when they have doubts about their capabilities speaks volumes for their bravery.

The doctor in this episode has never encountered creatures like the daleks before. So, for his timeline, this is his first encounter with them. It's crucial to his relationship with them because this ISN'T the Daleks' first encounter with The Doctor. They just don't recognise him or have data on him. Their phaser stem isn't inherently lethal, meaning they CHOOSE to kill in a way that NuWho doesn't capture. They don't have the capability to fly. They have simple weaknesses like getting tipped over or a plastic sheet on the ground to discharge the static electricity powering them. And while they have a distinct texture of hierarchy its unclear where that starts or ends.

Ian getting in the Dalek is easily one of my favorite moments of his run and will be refrenced in later episodes to come. It's so iconic.

Barbara, being a voice of reason keeping the thal and Ian grounded, is critical to their relationship but feels a little lacking sometimes in physically having things to do. I feel like it has a bit to do with having so many main characters. Giving them ALL something to do all the time can be difficult. But we also shouldn't underestimate the importance of the Therapy Friend.

To wrap up. I loved this episode. It felt fast even for a 7 part serial. The villains are conniving and deadly. Our main chast is immaculatly acted. And our human characters even get moments of feeling brilliant when the doctor isn't able to assist them. Particularly barbara in this respect. I look forward to seeing their continued adventure as they attempt to convince the doctor to send them home.

okay so I was in the corridors, walking slower than usual (because I was flipping through notes before the cs class) and I heard prof geto's name somewhere, so, naturally my ears perked up and I see what? I see these two girls bitching about him.

Yeah. I know right? The audacity.

Now. I would've frowned upon it if I didn't know any better so I walk up to them with a warm, inviting smile like

"Hey! I think I just heard professor Suguru"s name? Well I'm just dropping in to say that one of the kids from ethics class is dropping the course so in case any of you is interested??"

And the ones who was questioning why ethics as a subject is needed just a second ago? Well yeah. She --

"Sure!! I'm up for it!!" *Beams like an excited puppy*

"Cool. Just email me alright? See "ya!"

And then I stalk off. Quickly. pfft hehe No they don't know my email, name, year or major. LMAO. I would've been messed over with if they actually stopped me to properly get my email but how could they when they're busy debating over who's taking the seat in whisper screams?

I just wish I were there to see their faces when they realise. LOL. duh.

Alan Wake II - first thoughts, three hours in.

Just got to the start of chapter 3, still spoilering just in case.

IMPORTANT TOP THING: PERFORMANCE ISSUES: the audio keeps fucking skipping during cutscenes and i dont know why. i did the tricks all the wbesites said (move the game to SSD, play in fullscreen) but it keeps going on, which is extremly annoying. the issue is so common and big that i keep seeing guys on the internet complain about it! i want to beleive they are working on patches, but the game has been out for two two months now, and they still haven't acnowlaged the issues at all. Fuck, man. (the rest of the game plays good on my new gpu btw)

So, AW2 is basiclly a resident evil now. I knew it was gonna be a surivial horror, but the way the game and it's puzzles have been set up so far is just like from an RE game, even how parts of the UI or animations look. Not that i mind - remedy is a studio that wears their inspirations on their sleeve and isint afraid to yoink good ideas.

The game plays very nice so far. The atmosphere, the story... it's all very unique and interesting. All the cult stuff is capivating, and i was legit suprised to see nighngale brought back so early and in such a way. In some parts i feel like the story moves too qucikly, with our protagonits accepting the supernatural way too quickly, but maybe its for the better? we don't have to see our characters deny what's right in front of them for hours, it's all clear from the very start. And control did the same thing, with our main gal going along with all the nonsensical crap thrown at her.

speaking of the plot, the case feature is cool. helps organize plot in your head, every goal and thing you should do is clearly expalined and shown right in front of you, even forced for you to come to conclusions yourself. nice. way better then deadly premoniton did it.

Combat is weird so far. i only gotten into two fighting scenarios (not counting the nightingale "boss fight") and they were cool, but i felt like something was off. dodging seems basiclly useless now as enemies can grab you out of it, so the shootout consisted of me running around and picking the taken from the distance. is this the way the game wants me to play it? i don't mind that the game plays differently and more horror-like, but i wish the dodge wasn't so pathetic. boosting your flashlight seems a bit unreliable too, but that could be a set up problem.

i'm trying not the be too negative, since i had a very similar problem with control. in that game, the fights seemed extremly hard and annoying UNTIL you get all the abilites. then the game and it's combat really starts to shine, with flying around, grabbing missles out of the air, doghing, shielding, all that jazz. it's so dynamic and fun then, with all the weird and creative enemy types. i hope that all the weirdness of the combat is just exepriencing some growing pains and it will all fade when i get fully used to how it all works and unlock some upgrades/weapons.

minor complaint - the fbc stuff is, how i predicted, too prominent. don't look so weird at me! i don't mind control referneces and relevance, but from the very beggining of the game it just feels like too much, yknow? the closed gate was fun (and sets up the dlc content), the station and dialouge with casey about it was cute, but it feels like too early for this sort of cameo. sprinkle it in, be subtle - just like control did it with alan! well, until the dlc, but that's excusible since it was an extended teaser for AW2. the previous refrences were there, and a lot of them, but they werent all thrown in the players face. it also feels like those who didint play control would be missing out on important lore and jokes, which would confuse them, which is not great.

in summary, the game seems good so far! there is a lot of weirdness i still have to get used to, but im sure it will all wear down along the way when i play more. I just hope the damn issues will be fixed until then...
