Can you do an Alastor x fem!reader where Alastor confesses his love to her, but she doesn't believe him, thinking it's some kind of sick joke? She just laughs nervously, saying something like “yeah, yeah, I got it, very good joke, Al, your humor is getting better,” expecting that it will actually turn out to be some kind of prank
However, Alastor doesn't stop and tries to convey to her that he really loves her, but she still doesn't believe him because she doesn't trust him completely. Like, he's the radio demon, one of the most dangerous and powerful overlords who seemingly despised the idea of getting close to someone, what if he just wants to trick her so he can maybe make a deal with her or something?? That's why at first she tries to avoid him in order to get rid of this awkwardness due to his confessions, but gradually in the end she begins to meet him halfway and considers the idea of starting to date him after all. Not official yet, but the chances are great
WELP-
Alastor X Reader Headcanons
✅️Romantic
❌️Platonic
TW: None?? I think??
Description: ☝️⬆️
You're used to expecting the worst-case scenario and protecting your heart first and foremost, it's just how you learned to survive
You've learned not to trust anyone, especially anybody down here in hell with you, everyone has an ulterior motive
Yet...by some weird twist of fate you found yourself a home at the hotel, Charlie somehow having convinced you to stay
Whether or not you believed in redemption, you couldn't deny that you didn't feel a sense of closeness with everyone there
Even Alastor was nice to hang around sometimes, though you didn't trust him in the slightest
How could you? The Radio Demon?? He's got plans for his plans and only sees people for their use, he doesn't care about anyone, especially not you
You're just amusing to him, which is fine, you can tolerate being amusing just not being used
You had a comfortable relationship with the overlord which was something that not many people could say
You two got along well enough, spent a good amount of time together and actually had decent conversations
He'a charming and handsome, a dangerous combination but you were far too addicted to his presence now to worry about it, you can still protect your heart
Or at least you did, until Alastor decided to toy with your feelings, how he found out about your budding crush was beyond you
You two were walking alone together at night, laughing at some couple you two had witnessed earlier, teasing them
"I just don't understand how any man could be that whipped for a woman! I can't wrap my head around it..!"
Instead of joining in your laughter, he hummed and looked over at you strangely before looking ahead
"Oh, I don't know... I find myself understanding men like that a little more these days."
It's like a bucket of ice water just fell on you, your laughter cutting off as you look at him in confusion
"What do you mean? Are you...seeing someone or something?"
He looks as uncomfortable as a man with a permanent smile can be, tapping his claws against his staff
"Heavens no, but that doesn't mean there isn't someone special in my life... someone I wouldn't mind courting."
He gives you a meaningful glance then looks away again, stopping suddenly and facing you
"Alastor-"
"I wouldn't mind being whipped for you."
Your stomach sours and you frown, pushing at his shoulder a little harder than you meant to
"Yeah, that's real funny, Alastor. Why don't you go try that joke on someone else next time?"
You walk off as quickly as you can, leaving a baffled looking Alastor in your dust
Do you have any idea how hard it was for him to confess!? He grits his teeth and rubs his hand over his face as he watches you run away from him
You don't talk to him the next day, or the day after that, in fact... Alastor is pretty sure you're avoiding him because any time he tries to talk to you-
You find an excuse to run off, your relationship with him awkward and nervously hanging on by a thread
He ruined it and all your walls came right back up
You should've known he would exploit your weakness like that, should've seen that he was only being so good to you because he wanted to use everything he learned against you
You don't know what he gets out of it or what his goal is, but you're sure he's got an angle
Even now, he's trying to mess with your feelings, bringing you flowers, pushing little notes under your door, one time he even tried to serenade you
He keeps trying to tell you that he cares about you, that he feels for you, that he wants you, and you just don't want to hear it
It hurts to be toyed with
Everyone else at the hotel can see what's happening between you two which makes everything that much more embarrassing
"Come on, Husk! I know you know something! Why is he targeting me!? What do I have that he wants?"
Husk looks visibly uncomfortable, looking over your body before looking away, suddenly interested in a smudge on a glass
"I don't know anything so quit asking me! Why don't you just sit down and talk with him, huh?"
Oh, he knows something
Angel smirks and nudges your leg with his own, invading your personal space to further tease you
"You're tellin' me that you ain't flattered by all this attention he's givin' you? I've seen the way he's been mooning over you lately, and let me tell you~ That shit ain't fake~"
You huff and shake your head, mostly to hide the blush on your face from them
"He has an angle, everyone always does."
"Look if you wanna be a blind bitch then be my guest but at least promise me you'll hit that and tell me the details~?"
"ANGEL!"
You can't avoid Alastor forever no matter how hard you try, eventually running into him late one night when everyone else is in bed
You should've known better than to get that late night snack, but you had skipped dinner earlier, and you were hungry
You're washing your plate off when you hear Alastor walk in, stiffening once you realize you have no real excuse to run away anymore
"Alastor-"
He sucks in a breath and stays still as if scared he'll chase you away, which he might actually be worried about due to your actions lately
"I know you think I confessed to you in order to get something from you but that's far from the truth. I do genuinely find myself attached to you."
You feel your lip wobble a little, hugging yourself as you look away from him
"Don't. Don't you dare mess with me like this or I'll never forgive you, Alastor."
He takes another step closer to you, cautious as if trying not to scare you away
"I'm being entirely honest with you, I've fallen for you in ways I can't even begin to understand or convey to you. These last few weeks have been torture for me."
He's gripping your arms gently to stop you from turning away, the simple touch spreading warmth throughout your body
You have missed him a lot...
"I'm not asking that you confess your love to me, I only want a chance to show you I'm being genuine with you..."
You glance up at him before taking a step back, blushing furiously at the pathetic puppy eyes he's giving you
You can't believe you're going to agree to this, he better not make you regret it later or you'll make him suffer for it
You sigh and point at him, doing your best to remain calm and not let your emotions show
"I'll think about it, okay? Just...give me time to think."
He visibly relaxes and sighs in relief, giving you a warm smile as if you had just said yes
"That's more than I could ask for, I'll wait hundreds of years for you if that's what you want."
You blush more and have to cover your mouth to stop an excited squeal from escaping your lips
"Q-quit flirting with me! I already said I'd think about it..!"
He chuckles softly and reaches out to rub your cheek before pulling away and turning to leave
"Okay okay~ I'll wait for you...~"
He leaves you there in the dark, blushing and fuming to yourself
Having a handsome overlord on your arm wouldn't be the worst thing that could happen to you
I HOPE YOU LIKE IT!!

Hello i have a request for spencer reid x reader. If you have noticed in the show, esp early seasons he doesnt really get jokes a lot and takes stuff literally. Can you write a reader who is the same way, and the team is partaking in a funny joke and they are the only two who dont get it??? They r so perfect for each other
Hiii, lovely🥰ty for the cute request, hope this is okay. Warnings: fluff, clueless Spencer and reader, mentions of drinking and tea, (0.5k)
The latest case is finally over, and the whole team is more than happy about it. There are drink being passed around the jet in between, well almost everyone, except from you and Spencer.
You two are comfortably sitting next to each other on the jet's couch with the cups of tea in your hands. You didn't feel like drinking, and neither did Spencer, so instead he made you both some tea.
You are still very much present in the merry conversation happening between the team though, just without the alcohol.
And suddenly everybody is laughing, something to do with Derek and a bar, but you don't get it. You force a fake laugh out because you don't want to ruin the fun.
You find that Spencer is laughing as well, so even he must get the joke. It's only you that doesn't understand. You think of how embarrassing that is for you. Never getting the jokes.
The laughter dies down, and the conversation continues going as smoothly as it has been before.
Abruptly, you get an idea. Maybe Spencer could explain the joke to you?
It takes you a few minutes to find the courage to lean closer to Spencer, and ask about the joke.
"Spencer? C-Could I ask you something?" You whisper as inconspicuously as you can. Not wanting to get anybody else's attention.
Spencer looks at you with a soft smile, and he says, "sure."
You clear your throat, feeling a bit sheepish about it," did you....could you explain the joke to me?"
Spencer frowns in confusion, " what do you mean?"
You sigh in defeat," I mean the joke that everybody was laughing at. I didn't get it." Your cheeks go a bit red at your confession.
"You didn't get it?" Spencer asks curiously. Not mean or cruel about it, just curious.
You shake your head. Too embarrassed to say it out loud.
"I didn't either," Spencer grins at you. Eyes shining with sparks of amusement.
"You didn't?" You baffle. You saw him laughing.
"Nope. I often don't. I usually just pretend that I know what they are talking about, and laugh at it," Spencer shrugs his shoulders nonchalantly. The sides of your mouth go up.
"Did you pretend now too?" You question with a quiet giggle. You can't believe that he's done the same thing as you.
"Yeah. Did you pretend too? I saw you laughing," he raises his eyebrows. His own smile appearing on his pretty face.
"Yeah, didn't want to be the only one not laughing," you admit.
"Good," he laughs, bumping his shoulder to yours, "now we can pretend to understand together."
You can't contain the laugh as he says it. The both of you chuckling on your own inside joke.
"Oi," Derek draws your attention, your laughing gone, but the smiles remaining on your faces, " what are you two lovebirds laughing at?"
Your cheeks go impossibly more rosy, "nothing." It's an easy lie, you don't feel like telling them the truth.
And one look at Spencer you know he doesn't either, his own cheeks a bit more pink than they were before.

Taste
Pairing: fem!reader x spencer reid
warning: petty banter and toxic angry sex
author note: Hey everyone! I wanted to share that I'm starting a new fanfiction series inspired by Sabrina Carpenter's "Short N Sweet." This series will feature different fandoms, so there's something for everyone to enjoy! I got the idea from @thinkinonsense , so be sure to show her some love too! If you're not into Sabrina Carpenter, @thinkinonsense also created a fanfic based on Ariana Grande's "Positions" album, so feel free to check that out as well!
Next part: Please Please Please
Working at the FBI can be quite challenging, especially when you have a history with one of the top profilers in the field. Dr. Spencer Reid is like a walking supercomputer, brilliant yet endearingly dorky, which happens to be your type. There's something undeniably attractive about Spencer – perhaps it's his unassuming appearance as if he's never been in the presence of a woman, or maybe it's his intellect, which could put a dictionary to shame.
Either way, that’s what attracted you to him at first, and over time you guys developed more of a romantic relationship. But through this romantic relationship came problems and slight differences. Spencer always pushed you away no matter what it was so confusing every time something was going well. You guys would go three steps back. Unfortunately, you guys weren’t deemed to be together so breaking up an inevitable. What surprised you was that Spencer moved on fairly quickly with someone who is a carbon copy of you or at least tries to be. His new girlfriend Maxine was you in a different font. Your mannerisms were the same. The way she walked was the same compared to you the way she laughed. It was freaky. It was almost like she wanted to live in your skin like she was some creepy stalker living your life like somebody's body double.
As you started to pay closer attention, you couldn't help but notice certain things. For instance, when Maxine started accompanying Spencer to FBI events as his plus one, you began to feel uneasy. At a recent retirement party for a coworker, You spotted Maxine wearing a red mini dress with her hair slicked back, and she was even wearing a pair of heels that you had left at Spencer's house and never got back. The heels were scuffed at the bottom, indicating that they weren't new. What's more, You noticed that Spencer started repeating jokes and phrases that you had previously shared with him. These incidents made you increasingly aware of what was happening.
Anytime you mentioned this to anybody else they just called you crazy especially your coworkers like Garcia and JJ. They didn’t realize it until today since we solve the case in California Rossi was taking everybody out for drinks at the local bar down the street from the office. It was a casual thing he always did, but spencer decided to invite his girlfriend as a plus one . Nobody really cared and happily let him bring his girlfriend. It wasn’t a big deal. But you knew this was the perfect opportunity to prove a point.
The dim, flickering light of the bar's coatroom cast long, dancing shadows on the walls, creating an ambiance that was equal parts intoxicating and intense. The air was thick with the rich scent of aged whiskey and supple leather, mingling with the faint aroma of stale cigarettes. You were seated at the table next to JJ, delicately sipping on your perfectly crafted peach mojito, while discreetly observing the movements of Maxine and Spencer throughout the room. Your keen eyes didn't miss a single detail, and your focus was unwavering, like a detective on a critical case. JJ, sensing your intense scrutiny, playfully rolled her eyes before speaking. "You know, taking a picture would last longer, Y/N," she admitted while sipping her own drink. "Knowing Maxine, she would probably try to extract my DNA from the photo, clone me, and create a skin suit out of it."
"I can see where you're coming from," JJ said, her touch gentle as she gripped your shoulder. "He did move on pretty quickly, but you have to let it go. I doubt that she's trying to be you." As JJ's words sank in, a heavy sigh escaped from the depths of your mind. Perhaps JJ was right. Maybe you had been letting your imagination run wild. But as the night wore on, the unsettling feeling of Maxine trying to imitate you resurfaced. You could sense her eyes fixed on you, and every time you glanced in her direction, she would meet your gaze with either a forced smile or a look filled with spite. Finally, the team gathered for a toast after a challenging case. Rossi expressed his love for the team, emphasizing that each member was a valuable part of the cohesive unit. As Rossi finished up the toast, Maxine stood up and proposed her toast, looking directly at you as she spoke. "I just want to thank you guys for letting me join you today. I can see why every one of you is a valuable part of the team. Well, at least some of you. I also want to thank my fabulous boyfriend Spencer for being my rock, especially when things are hard, and for loving me unconditionally even though there are a lot of bitter people in this world. Spencer will always love me unconditionally no matter what comes his way."
Maxine's words cut like a knife, a calculated and direct attack that made you glance over at JJ to see if she had also caught it. The look on JJ's face confirmed that she had. It was clear that Maxine's barb was aimed at you. JJ's expression silently pleaded with you not to react, but you couldn't help it. There was no way you were going to let someone who bore a resemblance to you but was less attractive talk about you like that, especially to your face. "Yeah, and knowing Reid and his eidetic memory, I know exactly who you're thinking about when he's with you, and it's definitely not you, Maxine. No matter how hard you try to wrap your head around it, you will never be the girl he thinks about. There will always be one degree of separation between all three of us, and you know why," you said bitterly before taking the last sip of your drink and getting up to retrieve your coat from the coat room.
Spencer sat there fuming but trying his hardest not to show it because he you were right unfortunately. The rest of the team awkwardly looked at each other then back at Maxine as she walked off to the bathroom to collect herself. Meanwhile, spencer was going to go look for you. He was annoyed with your behavior tonight and he needed to set some things straight with you well at least for right now.. You leaned against the cold metal of a locker ordering a uber when you heard footsteps coming from a converse sneaker scraping against the floor, making that weird squeak sound.
"Why do you keep doing this?" he whispered, his voice barely audible over the muffled sounds of laughter and clinking glasses from the bar area. "Why do you keep pushing Maxine? What do you want from me?" You met his gaze head-on, your lips curling into a bitter smile. "What do I want? I want you to admit that she's just a poor imitation of what we had, Spencer. I want you to stop pretending that you're happy with her." Spencer let out an exasperated grunt you could see the vein in his forehead pulse he was fuming. "Stop playing games, Y/N. You left me. You walked away, and now you can't stand the thought of someone else being with me?"
You scoff in disbelief at his claims, feeling like he's trying to manipulate you. "I didn't walk away, Spencer. You pushed me out. You couldn't handle what we had, so you replaced it with a cheap knockoff." Spencer's eyes flashed with something dangerous. Before you could react, he locked the door to the storage room and placed a large step stool against it. Then, he turned back to you, staring into your eyes with a mix of yearning and regret. "Is that what you think? That I replaced you?" He said looking at you with that puppy-like gaze he always had.
You swallowed hard, your heart pounding in your chest. "Isn't it obvious? She's everything I was to you—everything we were together. But it's not real, Spencer. It'll never be real." For a moment, neither of you spoke, the tension between you almost palpable. Then, without warning, Spencer's lips crashed down onto yours, rough and desperate. The kiss was a mixture of heat and fury, his tongue sweeping into your mouth with a hunger that left you breathless. You responded instinctively, your hands gripping his shoulders as you kissed him back with equal intensity.
He broke the kiss, his forehead resting against yours as he struggled to steady his breathing. "Is this what you wanted?" he gasped, his voice raw and slightly whiny. "To see if I still want you?" You pressed yourself closer, feeling the hardness of his arousal pressing against your thigh. "No," you murmured, your voice trembling. "I wanted you to show me." Spencer a breathy groan slipped out his throat, his hands sliding down to cup your ass, lifting you effortlessly until your legs wrapped around his waist. The cold metal of the coat rack bit into your back as he pinned you against it, the sensation both startling and exhilarating
"God, you drive me insane," he muttered, his lips grazing your neck as he peppered kisses along your skin. "I can't think when you're around." You laughed softly, the sound shaky and breathless. "Good. Maybe then you'll finally understand how it felt when you shut me out." He paused, his eyes locking onto yours, and for a moment, you saw the vulnerability beneath the anger. "I'm sorry baby I’m so sorry," he whispered, his voice reeked of forgiveness and arousal. "I never meant to hurt you."
You nodded, unable to find the words to respond. All you could focus on was the way his lips felt against your skin, the way his hands roamed over your body with a familiarity that made your heartache. Spencer's hand slid under your skirt, his fingers brushing against the damp fabric of your panties. You gasped, arching your hips into his touch, craving more. He groaned, his teeth nipping at your earlobe as he slipped a finger inside you, coaxing you open with practiced ease. "Fuck," you moaned, your head falling back against the locker as he began to move his finger in slow, deliberate strokes. "Spencer..."
"Tell me what you want, I will do it I want to make you feel good,” he demanded, his voice soft and whiny but commanding. "Tell me how much you need this." You bit your lip, resisting the urge to melt into his hands when he whines like that. "I want you," you admitted, your voice barely above a whisper. "I need you, Spencer. Please”
He obeyed getting on his knees and slowly gliding your panties off slipping them off in one swift motion. He looked up at you with his big brown chocolate puppy dog eyes with that submissive twitch in his eyes before circling your clit and kissing it. It was so obvious he missed you, especially by the way he was eating you out. “Fuck~ you missed me badly huh?” You say gripping his greasy brown hair and pushing his face deeper into your pussy.
You can feel Spencer nodding agreeing to what you were saying he started sucking on your clit before placing two fingers inside of you stretching a lot slowly something he used to do quite often when you guys had a hard day at work to at least help put a smile on your face. Your eyes roll back as his slender fingers stretch you out. You felt yourself get close to an orgasm until Spencer stopped and looked up at you his face all wet with a pleading look on his face. He motioned you to face the wall so you obeyed his request. Spencer's hands skimmed over your thighs as he positioned himself behind you. You braced yourself against the cool metal, your breath hitching as you felt the head of his cock press against your entrance. "Ready?" he asked, his voice desperate and hoarse.
You nodded, biting your lip as you prepared for the inevitable intrusion. Spencer gripped your hips tightly, aligning himself perfectly before thrusting into you in one smooth motion. You cried out, the sensation both painful and exquisite as he filled you completely. "Fuck, you feel so good," he muttered, his voice laced with desperation. "Just how I remembered." He began to move, his thrusts slow and deep, each one hitting your spot with perfect precision. The sound of their bodies slapping together echoed in the small space, adding to the intensity of the moment.
"Harder," you begged, your voice breaking. "Please, Spencer, harder." He obliged, picking up the pace as he slammed into you with renewed vigor. The friction between your bodies grew more intense, the heat pooling in your core as you felt yourself teetering on the edge of climax.
"Look at me baby," Spencer commanded, his voice whiny and desperate but with a hint of urgency. "Watch me fuck your brains out, baby” You turned your head, meeting his gaze over your shoulder. The sight of his face, twisted with exertion and desire, sent a fresh wave of arousal crashing through you. He reached around to pinch your nipple, twisting it between his fingers as he continued to pound into you.
"That's it, baby" he whimpers. "Take it. Take every fucking inch. You can do it” You screamed, your orgasm ripping through you like a tidal wave. Your muscles clenched around him, driving him over the edge as well. Spencer shouted your name, his release flooding you as he buried himself deep inside. Panting, he pulled out slowly, leaving you trembling against the coat rack. He leaned against you, his forehead resting on the back of your neck as he caught his breath.
"This changes nothing," he whispered, his voice raw and unsure. "We still have to deal with Maxine."
You turned to face him, your heart aching at the conflicted look in his eyes. “I don’t have to deal with anything you have to come to terms that you will never find a girl like me again Boy genius. You need figure out who you wanna be with. A botched copy or the real deal. I will see you at work tomorrow spencer and I will be expecting an answer. Just remember I leave quite the impression on men like you.
You quickly find your panties slipping them back on grabbing your coat and plants a kiss on spencer’s lips leaving a red kiss stain on his lips before walking out to catch your Uber

[8.3k] the five times you tried to deny it, and the one time you and quinn gave into the bond pulling you together. (smut included)
based off this. smut included but it's not explicit. i may write a more detailed smut one shot in this universe later.
series masterlist
.
The first time you shared a moment with Quinn Hughes, you truly thought you were out-of-your-mind insane.
You weren’t even five years old when you first met the Hughes family. Your family had just moved, you were new to town and you were just confused why your whole life had to be packed up in boxes (no matter how many times your parents explained it).
And somewhere between the tears of being unable to find your favourite teddy in the cardboard boxes and not giving in to your parents’ bribes that you now had your very own—and fairly big—room in the new house, you had met Luke Hughes.
It was indescribable the way the bond between you and the youngest Hughes boy just snapped, but it was the only way to explain it. One day you were moving to a scary, new place and the next you were attached to the hip with an awkward, little boy who you loved like family.
Where Luke went, you followed.
When you jumped, Luke was right behind you.
You were a package deal, never one without each other. And it had always been the case. You were best friends. You shared something that went deeper than friendship and blood. You were each other’s person, and there was no doubt about that in anybody’s mind.
Your family became Luke’s and, in turn, his became yours. Ellen was a strong, empowering figure in your life that felt like a second mother. Jim was kind and encouraging, guiding you through some of your lowest moments. Even Jack felt like an older brother, someone who teased you and taunted you but defended you if anybody else tried to do the same.
But with Quinn, there was nothing.
For years, you were just his annoying little brother’s annoying little friend. And when you grew up, he was so focused on hockey that your paths rarely crossed, even with the countless amount of time you spent under the Hughes’ roof. You reached high school, he was already off to college. And when you and Luke got into Michigan, Quinn was already settled in Vancouver and playing in the big leagues like he always dreamed of.
He was by no means an asshole or a dick to you, your relationship with the oldest Hughes brother was just…non-existent. He was just there in your life. He was Luke’s oldest brother than you sometimes saw around, and nothing more.
You didn’t think that would ever change over time, let alone in the span of one summer.
There was no question that you would join the Hughes family at their lakehouse in the summer the second you finished up with finals. You had decided to spend some time back home with your parents before you joined the boys at the lakehouse, just as the friends started to fly in and it felt like it would be the same as every other summer.
You were painfully wrong.
Despite only just arriving, you should have known better than thinking the Hughes brothers were capable of a lazy day. The second your bags were dropped in your designated room (just beside Luke’s at the end of the hallway), they had dragged you out onto the boat and demanded to make up for lost time.
You laughed until tears were streaming down your cheeks. You ate until you swore you’d explode if you had another bite. You drank until the beers started to make you feel a little buzzed and settled and content. You sat around the dinner table sharing jokes and stories and random thoughts until, one by one, everyone tapped in for the night.
But not you.
Despite the travelling and the tiring day you had, the exhaustion in your bones wasn’t enough to settle you. You felt restless. You felt wide awake. You didn’t have the heart to lie in your bed and aimlessly stare at the ceiling. So, with the knowledge that Luke was already out like a light with no hope of waking up until the sun rises, you found yourself sitting on one of the chairs outside by the fire pit, the dying embers your only company as you enjoyed the serene silence of the lakehouse.
At least, they were your only company until he followed you outside.
“Couldn’t sleep?”
You turned your head to look away from the slowing fire and towards the lakehouse, where you found the eldest Hughes brother walking towards you. He had changed from the clothes he was wearing earlier, the shirt and shorts now replaced with sweatpants and a hoodie. Your lips twitched upwards when you noticed it was a Devils jersey he probably stole from his brothers, and one he probably wouldn’t dare to wear outside the privacy of the lakehouse.
You shook your head before nodding back towards the house. “What about you? Luke’s snores too much to deal with?”
Quinn breathed out a laugh. “We both got the short end of the stick sharing a wall with him.”
“You can say that again,” you murmured with a snort before you turned to face the fire pit again. “At least it’s peaceful out here.”
“And cold,” Quinn noted.
“I think that hoodie is keeping you warm enough,” you mused as he closed the distance to the firepit, now standing behind your seat. You almost jumped when you felt him place the blanket over your shoulders, not having even noticed he was holding it when he came out here.
“I meant for you,” Quinn stated simply before he took the spot next to you, his shoulders brushing against yours as you both sat there, staring at the dying fire. “You’re not even wearing a jacket.”
“Sorry, dad,” you joked, and maybe it was a trick of the light, but you could have sworn you saw his lips twitch upwards. “It’s fine, I was heading back inside anyways.”
His brows furrowed together as you moved to stand up. “You looked quite settled though.”
“Well yeah,” you started, your cheeks burning as you noticed him nodding for you to continue. “I don’t know, I just thought you wanted to sit out here.”
He blinked. “So you were gonna leave?”
“I’ve had my time. I’m not gonna get in the way of your…silent brooding,” you said with a shrug of your shoulders.
He tilted his head to the side before he spoke. “You don’t have to leave. We can…silently brood together.”
This time it was your brows that furrowed together.
“Unless you don’t want to stay out here with me…” Quinn trailed off, a little awkwardly.
“It’s not that, it’s just—” you started, pausing for a moment before you shrugged again. “We don’t really talk.”
Quinn frowned. “We talk.”
“Quinn, this is the longest conversation we’ve had in six years,” you pointed out to him. He opened his mouth like he was about to counter your statement, but after a few moments it seemed like he realised you were telling the truth.
“Okay, maybe that’s true, but…it doesn’t have to be anymore,” he said as he patted the spot next to him, the spot you were sitting in a few minutes ago. “I mean, you’re like family”
You hesitated for a short moment before you settled in the spot next to him. It took a few more seconds before you finally had the guts to lift the end of the blanket, offering it to him with a sheepish smile. It took every single part of you burning with hope that it was too dark to notice the way your cheeks burned a little as he happily accepted the blanket and wrapped it around himself too.
“Up until junior year in high school, I thought you hated me,” you confessed, blurting the words out before you had a chance to stop yourself.
“What? Really?” He questioned, somewhat incredulously before he frowned. “What changed?”
“I realised you were just like that with everyone,” you admitted. “You all have your roles. Jack is the hyper-active golden retriever brother. Luke is, like, a black cat. Kinda keeps to himself, but he’s clingy when he trusts you.”
Quinn hummed, his eyes focused on the side of your face. “And me?”
“The grumpy cat,” you said as you turned to look at him, your voice a little breathless as you continued. “You look like you hate everyone, but you probably love the hardest. I’ve seen it with Luke. You act like he annoys you but…you probably love him more than anyone else in the world.”
“Other than you,” he noted.
You grinned a little. “Oh please, we aren’t on the same level. I mean, you can try to compete but you’ll lose.”
Quinn snorted, and it took you by surprise. “Yeah, you and my brother have your weird…psychic thing. I don’t think anyone could compare.” He paused for a few moments before he spoke up again. “You know, he threatened me about you once.”
You let out a noise of disbelief. “What?”
“The bond between you,” Quinn laughed.
Your eyes narrowed in suspicion. “When?”
“It was when you broke your arm when you were like seven years old,” Quinn said. “You were bummed that whole summer.”
“It was meant to be the first year me and Luke could go tubing alone,” you murmured as the memories flashed through your mind. You hated every second a camera was pointed at you and the massive cast on your arm.
“I won this massive bag of sour patch kids at that carnival game and I knew they were your favourites,” he continued. “But Luke threw a tantrum. He cried to Dad that I was trying to steal his best friend, that I was bribing you. He said that if I gave you the bag, he would push me off the boat when Dad was going full speed.”
Your lips parted as you let out a surprised laugh. “Oh wow,” you murmured with a shake of your head. “That bastard robbed me out of a huge bag of sour patch kids.”
Quinn laughed, shaking his head. “That’s all you took from that story? Not the fact that he almost killed me?”
“Eh,” you shrugged. “You’re here now, aren’t you? But you know what’s not here? The bag of sour patch kids.”
“It was really good,” Quinn mused playfully as you lightly dug an elbow into his ribs. “Ouch. Kidding.”
“No, you’re not.”
“I’m really not,” he confessed before smiling softly. “I’ll get you another to make up for it.”
You sighed dramatically. “It’s not the same.”
“What? You want me to win it again?” Quinn questioned, though you could hear the amusement in his voice.
You wiggled your eyebrows. “Scared you’ll fail?”
“Absolutely not,” Quinn announced before offering his hand. “Fine. Deal.”
“Deal,” you repeated as you shook his hand.
But neither one of you pulled away. You sat there, huddled under the tartan blanket he had taken from the linen closet on the second floor, staring as you held onto each other’s hand. You could have pulled away. You should have pulled away. But some part of you kind of liked the feeling of his large, warm hand engulfing yours.
“You sure I won’t steal you away from Luke?” Quinn murmured, his eyes watching your face closely.
You smiled softly. “Depends how big the bag is.”
And he laughed, finally pulling his hand away as he turned his attention back to the firepit, and you were left wondering what the fuck just happened between you and Quinn Hughes.
…
You shared many moments with Quinn Hughes after that night, but the second time it really hit you again, you had no doubt that whatever was happening between you both was definitely a mutual feeling.
It was one of the hottest days of the summer, so it only made sense to take the boat out on the lake. With a backpack full of snacks and suncream, along with a cooler packed to the brim with water and beer bottles, you were set to have a good day.
Despite the heat, you had been wearing one of Luke’s old UMICH shirts as an overdress as you sat on the boat, pressed against him as Quinn took charge of driving. For reasons that were beyond your own understanding, you hadn’t opened up to your best friend about the growing friendship between you and his brother. You didn’t know why. You knew it wasn’t really a big deal.
But some part of you wanted to keep the bond bubbling between you and Quinn just for yourself, a secret shared between you two.
“Twenty bucks says Trevor tries to do a backflip before Jack,” Luke murmured to you as you both watched the other two boys, already playfully shoving each other.
“An extra says his heels hit the back of his head when he does it,” you murmured back, your lips twitching when Luke let out a loud, sudden laugh that caught the attention of the other boys.
“Quinn, they are doing it again!” Jack called out.
Luke frowned. “Doing what?”
“Being you,” Jack retorted, causing the youngest Hughes to roll his eyes.
“Stop being jealous, Rowdy,” you teased, flashing him a mocking pout. “Just cause you and Trevor wish you had what we have.”
“What we have is better,” Trevor insisted.
You and Luke shared a look before you both replied, “sure, Jan.”
“God, that is weird,” Cole murmured, sitting on the other side of you and Luke with an oddly curious expression.
“Wait until you see them move in sync,” Alex grumbled, his nose scrunched up. “It’s creepy.”
“I can’t believe we are on a boat with a bunch of jealous bitches,” you mused to your best friend, who only snorted in response.
By the time the boat had been anchored and settled, it took less than three seconds before most of the boys were jumping into the lake. Luke had tried to drag you in with him, but you batted his hands away. You should’ve known better than to think he would give up.
You only had enough time to shriek when Luke lifted you in his arms, not thinking twice before he threw you off the edge before following. By the time you broke through the surface, he was already laughing his ass off with the majority of the other boys.
“Dick!” You laughed at him.
“You still love me!” He called back.
“Unfortunately.”
You made your way towards the boat, kicking your legs to get you away from Luke as quickly as you could. You reached for the small ladder, your hands gripping the metal as you tried to pull yourself back up onto the boat.
“Here, let me help.”
You didn’t get a chance to respond before Quinn’s hands were wrapped around your waist, practically hauling you back onto the boat with ease. Your cheeks burned as you stumbled into him, your hands on his bare chest as you found your footing.
“Sorry,” you flashed him a sheepish smile.
But he didn’t look that bothered. “No worries at all.”
You glanced down at Luke’s shirt you were still wearing when he had thrown you in. It was absolutely soaked, and now laid heavy against your skin as you gently picked at the hem.
“Asshole,” you muttered under your breath. “I didn’t bring anything else.”
“I have a hoodie you can borrow,” Quinn muttered out, far too quickly and, for a moment, you wondered if the pink on his cheeks was a blush or sunburn. “If you want.”
“I—yeah,” you eventually stuttered out. “That would be great.”
It hasn’t even been purposeful. It just made sense to peel the wet shirt over your head, hoping to wring it out and let it dry in the sun while you swim around for another hour or so. You didn’t even think twice when you wiggled out of it. You didn’t think it was a big deal until you lifted your head and found Quinn staring at you, lips parted and hoodie held aimlessly in his hand as he gaped at you.
“You good?” You questioned as though your heart wasn’t racing in your chest at his eyes on you.
“Yeah, no,” Quinn cleared his throat, blinking a few times. “Just…yeah.”
You raised your brows. “Never seen a girl in a bikini before, Hughes?”
“Never seen you in one,” he corrected, and something about his response caught you off guard. Maybe because you weren’t expecting him to admit it. “You’re gorgeous.”
You tilted your head to the side. “You sound surprised by that.”
“What?” His eyes widened slightly. “No! No, I didn’t mean like that—”
“STOP BEING A CHICKEN AND GET BACK IN HERE!”
You glanced over your shoulder, your eyes narrowing down at your best friend. “I’m not a chicken!”
“Prove it then!” Luke called out.
You turned back around to look at Quinn who hadn’t torn his eyes away from you. He looked like he wanted to say something, maybe even finish what he started a few moments ago before he was interrupted. But in the end, he couldn’t find himself able to say a single word.
You didn’t turn to look back at him as you raced back into the water, your stomach churning. Maybe it was the curiosity of wanting to know what he was going to say. Maybe it was the surprise that Quinn of all people couldn’t get his words out. Maybe you were still trying to navigate the weird shift in dynamic between you.
Or maybe it was because Quinn Hughes called you gorgeous and you couldn’t stop thinking about it.
But, for what it was worth, you still slid his hoodie over your head when you got out of the water. Even if the shirt was dried by that point.
And you could’ve sworn you saw him smile when you did.
…
The third time was undeniable. You felt something for Quinn Hughes, and it was reciprocated.
It was another sleepless night. Something in the air felt different, like it had shifted. And now you were left alone in the quietness of the lakehouse somewhere in the early hours of the morning.
The days had started to blur into each other, passing in a happy daze as you basked in a summer spent with some of your closest friends. Today had been no different with made-up tournaments of pool and darts, tanning by the lake and drinks shared that put a hefty dent in the supply from the fridge.
You were buzzed and happy by the time you made your way to the room, finding yourself in Luke’s room before the boy eventually dozed off somewhere between your rambles of who could actively fight a horse-sized duck and the latest season of your favourite show you had been convincing him to watch. You had slid out of his room, heading towards your own room to settle down for the night.
But that restless feeling returned.
Instead, your steps lead you down the stairs and into the kitchen. You had propped yourself on the island, a glass of water sat beside you and your eyes focused on the window above the sink. It was quiet. So quiet. And some part of you resented it, that you were the only one awake right now.
But just like last time, you were quickly disproven of your assumption.
Your head turned when you heard footsteps approaching and, for a second, you thought maybe it was Luke. But the steps didn’t sound heavy enough to be his, and there was nothing in this world that could wake that boy from his slumber.
You shouldn’t have been surprised to find Quinn standing in the doorway instead.
He was dressed like he had just crawled out of bed. With grey sweatpants that laid low on his hips and a white shirt that clung onto every crevice and curve of his torso, he stood in the kitchen doorway with bleary eyes and a small frown on his face.
“Why are you still awake?”
You shrugged. “I couldn’t sleep.”
“I’m starting to think you have insomnia or something,” he murmured, running a hand through the messy curls on his head, but it did little to tame them. Your lips twitched at the sight. “Or maybe I’ve just never noticed how shitty your sleep schedule was before.”
“Kick a girl when she’s down,” you mused playfully as you watched him lean against the frame. “Why are you awake right now? You look like you’re seconds from falling asleep.”
Quinn hummed in agreement. “I’m a light sleeper.”
Your brows furrowed together. “So?”
“So, I heard you thumping down the stairs and into the kitchen,” Quinn said, the corners of his lips lifting when he heard the noise that left your lips.
“Thumping?” You repeated with a scoff.
“Thumping,” he nodded in confirmation before pushing himself off the frame, closing the distance between the kitchen entrance and the kitchen counter you were currently sitting on. “You’re very heavy-footed.”
“I’ll be sure to remember that the next time we skate together,” you grumbled, your eyes glued on the oldest Hughes as he sleepily shuffled towards you. Your legs parted almost instantly as he settled between them, his hands on either side of you as he looked up at you with a slight hazed look on his face.
“You’d never catch me,” he murmured softly.
“Is that a challenge?” You retorted.
Quinn shook his head as he breathed out his nose. “Do you have to turn everything into a competition?”
“It makes things more fun,” you told him, painfully aware of how close you were. It wasn’t like the boat, there was no one else in the kitchen. Just you, Quinn and the accompanying silence of the lakehouse. You wondered if you should have felt guilty for enjoying it so much.
“I can think of a million other things that are more fun,” he countered, his head tilting to the side as he lifted his head to look at you.
A beat passed before you replied, “want to show me some?”
You didn’t miss the way his eyes instantly dropped to your lips. You felt something deep in your stomach twist in delight, in satisfaction even. His eyes lingered there for one, two, three seconds before his eyes met yours again. They were darker, a little more awake than they were minutes ago when he shuffled into the kitchen. They made your chest feel tight.
“I can’t,” he murmured, his voice a little breathless and strained. “You’re Luke’s best friend.”
“And you’re Luke’s brother,” you countered. “What does that have to do with anything?”
“I shouldn’t,” he insisted.
You leaned forward a little, your nose brushing against his. “But do you want to?”
There was a pause. It was brief and barely lasted a few seconds, but it felt like a lifetime passed between you both. You sat on the counter, Quinn standing in front of you, and the deafening silence that surrounded you both. It didn’t feel like you were in the kitchen, let alone the lakehouse. You were in your own little bubble, weighing up the consequences of what was about to happen.
And in that little bubble, every single one of them seemed worth it.
A small noise of surprise left you as Quinn leaned forward, his hands moving to cup the back of your head as he pressed his lips against yours. You melted into his embrace embarrassingly quick, your hands resting on his chest as you found your lips moving against his. It was hesitant and a little off-pace, like both of you were trying to figure out what you were doing.
And then he pulled away, just enough to catch a glimpse of your face but it was short-lasting before your hands were fisting his shirt and pulling him in for another kiss.
The kisses became more confident, more sure. His hands dropped from the back of your head, gliding down your back and resting on your hips before he was pulling you towards the edge of the counter. You wrapped your legs around his torso, your arms following suit around his neck and, fuck, who knew kissing Quinn Hughes could be so addictive?
“Shit,” you breathed out, your head falling back as his lips trailed along your jaw and down the column of your neck. His beard scratched against your skin, tickling and teasing and your legs tightened around him. “Quinn.”
“Sound pretty when you say my name,” his words vibrated against your skin, his hands tightening their grip.
“That feels good,” you whined, your body arching into him as his teeth grazed along a sensitive spot on the base of your neck. Your heart was beating against your ribs, the coil in your stomach was tightening as his hands teased the hem of your shirt and the painful realisation that it had been far too long since a guy had touched you made you eager to keep him close.
“Yeah?” You could hear the cockiness in his voice. “I make you feel good, sweetheart?”
“Quinn,” you murmured, your cheeks flushing in embarrassment when he pulled away to look at you.
“Say it,” he said, his fingers squeezing your cheeks together when you tried to turn your head away.
“You make me feel good,” you whispered, a little breathless.
His chest moved with soft pants, his hooded eyes dropping down to your red, swollen lips. “Do you want me to stop?”
You shook your head.
“Words, baby,” he murmured, his fingers squeezing your cheeks again as you stared at him with wide eyes. “I want you to be sure of what you’re doing.”
You rolled your eyes. “I know I wanna fuck you, Quinn, I’m not some stupid little kid anymore.”
“I never once thought you were,” he said simply, and before you even got the chance to reply, his lips were pressed against your again.
You didn’t remember much about the journey to Quinn’s room. All you knew was that he was strong—really fucking strong—which shouldn’t have surprised you for a professional athlete. But when he had the strength and control to pick you up with ease and walk up to his room on nothing but muscle memory as he made you whine and squirm in his grasp, you had to find it more than a little impressive.
Your back bounced against the mattress as you pulled him down, eager to feel the weight of him on top of you. You weren’t exactly what you felt for the oldest Hughes brother. You weren’t even sure if you wanted to know.
But in that moment you wanted him. You wanted him on top of you. You wanted him inside of you. You wanted him in a way you had never wanted Quinn Hughes in your life, and maybe if you weren’t so lost in your own desperation to feel his skin against yours, it would have freaked you out.
But right now, your focus was on him.
Your clothes laid abandoned in a pile on his bedroom floor, right beside his sweatpants and shirt. His hands were all over you, touching you and stroking you and holding you. His lips trailed over your bare skin, desperate to kiss every fucking inch like his life depended on it.
And when you felt his curls tickling your skin, his beard scratching against your inner thighs and his nose nudging against your sensitive clit, your need to feel him inside you was almost unbearable.
“Please,” you cried out, your fists clenching the navy bed sheets beneath you as you squirmed under his grasp. “Quinn, I need—”
“I know what you need, honey,” he murmured, his lips and chin still wet with your arousal as he trailed kisses up your stomach and between your tits before his lips claimed yours. “Gonna give you what you want.”
The noises you let out were muffled by his lips against yours, his tongue teasing along your bottom lip before sliding into your mouth. Whispered pants and soft praises were shared between heavy kisses as Quinn ripped open the foil, his forehead pressed against yours as he whispered how good you were doing before he finally bottomed out inside of you.
Your experience with men in bed wasn’t large or extensive, but no one had ever treated you the way Quinn Hughes did. He was generous and caring. He was attentive and passionate. He was bigger than anyone you had ever slept with before. And even in the quiet hours of the lakehouse and the slow roll of his hips, he had you pressing your face into the pillows to muffle the noises you were making.
And much to your surprise, he held you against his chest when it was all over, rather than letting you slide out of bed and awkwardly scramble to leave the room.
“Quinn,” you started, your head tucked under his chin as his fingers trailed along your bare back.
“Yeah?”
“What are we doing?”
Quinn didn’t say anything for a few moments. “We’re just having fun,” he said eventually as his arms tightened around you. “Let’s just enjoy it, yeah? Don’t think about it too much.”
So, you didn’t. You just kept the million and one questions you had to yourself and enjoyed the feeling of falling asleep in the arms of Quinn Hughes.
…
The fourth time wasn’t even purposeful, it was more like chance—like fate.
The storm had taken you all by surprise. It was by no means a large storm, or particularly concerning. But it left the lake unassailable and most of the roads to the nearest town at risk of being flooded.
The weather warnings had been going off for the last twenty four hours. You could feel the storm approaching, you could feel it in the sticky, humid air that clung onto your skin like a second layer. The little sundress you had been wearing was doing little to combat the heat, especially with the additional fact that you were pretty sure the AC stopped working a few hours ago and the fans the boys had set up around the house were doing nothing but blowing hot air at you.
What wasn’t surprising was the lack of concern for the storm. It would pass in a few days, and none of the boys seemed particularly on edge at the fact the roads would be closed and they would essentially be trapped in the lakehouse for the next week or so.
Nobody but Quinn.
“I’m heading out to the store to stock up for the storm,” he announced as he entered the living room where the rest of the group had been sprawled over the couches, their attention focused on the tv screen displaying the video game they were currently playing. “Any of your assholes wanna help?”
Silence.
Quinn sighed loudly. “Should have seen that one coming.”
“I’ll join,” you said, not thinking twice as you stood up from your spot on the loveseat you were sharing with Luke.
The boy’s attention perked up the second you stood up, his brows furrowed together as he watched you saunter towards his brother. “You’re willingly going to the store with Quinn?”
You paused, your brows furrowed together. “Yeah?”
“It’s over an hour away,” Luke said as you continued to stare blankly at you. “He’s going to bore you to death! He doesn't talk!”
Quinn scoffed, rolling his eyes. “Geez, thanks.”
“I’ll survive,” you assured him, ruffling his hair as you walked past him and towards the front door. “Plus, I’ll talk enough for the both of us.”
You felt like your heart was in your throat as you slipped your shoes on, waiting to hear the sound of Luke following you to the door. You expected to see him running towards you and Quinn, a frown on his lips as he muttered about coming to help because he would feel bad otherwise.
You tried not to think about how badly you didn’t want him to do that.
“We are leaving now!”
“Bye!” Jack called out from the living room.
“You sure you don’t wanna come?”
“Not a chance!” Luke called out this time.
You could barely bite back your grin as you quickly rushed out the house, making your way to the passenger side of Quinn’s truck. He didn’t say a word as he settled into the driver’s seat, key in the ignition and engine roaring to life as he reversed out the driveway and started the hour commute to the nearest grocery store.
“Okay, spill.”
You turned your head to face the boy, your eyebrows furrowing slightly in confusion. “Spill what?”
“What twin telepathy, voodoo magic you pulled back there,” Quinn said with a small snort of laughter. “The dude has been attached to your hip since you both were five. There was no way he just chose to stay back.”
“Maybe he’s finally getting sick of me after all these years,” you teased.
“Yeah, and I heard pigs were flying too,” he deadpanned.
You grinned. “Is there a reason you want to get me alone, Mr Hughes?”
His lips twitched upwards as he cast you a look. “I think it’s the same reason you were begging me to not stop last night in the—”
“Shut up!” Your cheeks burned, though you couldn’t help but laugh a little when he did too.
The journey to the store went smoothly. Despite Quinn’s insistence that he didn’t speed, you reached the grocery store in the next town over less than forty minutes after you left. You each took a trolley before ransacking the aisles, filling both carts up to the brim until you had enough to supply you through the zombie apocalypse.
Quinn swiped his card and you packed the groceries into the back of the truck.
And then, the rain started.
“Shit,” Quinn murmured, a frown on his face as he ducked his head down to watch the rain heavily pour down. “They said it wasn’t gonna start up until tonight.”
“Do you think we’ll be able to get back fine?” You asked, listening to the rain patter against the roof of the truck. “Maybe it will ease up.”
Quinn raised his brows. “It’s the start of the storm. It’s only gonna get worse.”
“You scared of a little rain?” You teased, gently nudging your elbow against his.
“It’s just stupid,” Quinn said with a shrug. “It’s a nuisance.”
“It’s fun if you let it be,” you retorted.
Quinn turned to face you in his seat, a look of amusement on his face as he leaned against the console. “Sweetheart, I think you’ve been around Luke too long. The brain cells are starting diminish as we speak—”
“Fuck off,” you laughed with a shake of your head. “See, this is what I mean. You’re the grumpy cat.”
“And what about me is so grumpy cat right now?” Quinn questioned.
“You’re a rain buzzkiller,” you stated simply.
Quinn tried to fight the grin growing on his face. “And what would someone who’s not a rain buzzkiller be like?”
He waited for your reply. He waited for you to come back with some witty retort that would piss him off and thrill him all at once. He waited for you to say something that made him want to roll his eyes and kiss you all at once.
He waited, but instead he saw your hand reaching for the door handle and his eyes widened in realisation.
“Baby—”
But you were already jumping out of the car.
It was just instinctive for him to jump out and follow. He was soaked in seconds, the rain still heavy and unforgiving and it almost made it difficult to see you, despite only being a few feet in front of him. He opened his mouth, ready to yell at you for being so reckless and to get back into the car, only to stop short when he heard you laugh.
“Come on, Huggy!” You called out to the boy, your arms extended out to the side as you tilted your head back up to the rain. “Don’t be a buzzkill!”
“You’re insane!” He called back.
“Tell me something I don’t know,” you laughed as you reached out for him. “Come on, don’t leave me hanging!”
“We are going to get sick!”
“Oh well!” You laughed, palm facing the sky as you grinned at him through the heavy rain.
Quinn stared at you, a noise of disbelief leaving his own mouth as he took your hand and let you tug him towards you. Your arms seamlessly wrapped around his neck, just as his hands fell to your waist. And as much as he tried, he couldn’t fight the smile that grew on his face as you both began to sway back and forth in the rain.
“Isn’t this fun?”
Quinn shook his head, not bothering to answer as he dipped his head down to press his lips against yours. Your arms tightened around him, a small moan leaving your lips as he pressed your body against his own. You were both soaked to the bone, clothes clinging onto you but that was the least of your concerns.
“I’m taking that as a yes,” you murmured against his lips.
“You take it as whatever you want, baby,” he murmured back before he leaned down for another kiss.
The upcoming storm and truck full of groceries were the last thing on your mind when you were kissing Quinn Hughes in the rain.
…
The fifth time hurt like a bitch.
There was no sugar-coating. There was no exaggerations. There were no molehills made into mountains.
It just fucking hurt and there was no way for you to get around that.
After the storm had gone and passed, the group were eager to get back out into the world they were cut off from for the week. It had been Trevor’s idea to have a night out in the next town over. To have an excuse to dress up and head to one of the bars, enjoy the vibe of live music and chatty bartenders and friendly locals.
And that was exactly what you all had done.
You dressed up. You booked the taxis to the bar. You did a round of shots. You made friends with strangers. You danced and laughed and sang along with the band playing on the small, makeshift stage. You ordered fruity cocktails that you missed during your stay at the lakehouse. You were having fun.
And then you saw it.
Logically, you knew you didn’t have any reason to really be pissed. He wasn’t your boyfriend. You weren’t his girlfriend. There had never really been a talk of exclusivity, but you thought that much had been obvious since you had spent most of your time at the lakehouse. There were no labels, no promises, no rules. You knew that. Of course you fucking knew that.
But it didn’t make the sight hurt any less.
Quinn was leaning against the bar, a wide smile painted on his face as he chatted away to some blonde girl who was all but saddled up next to his side. He was laughing and talking animatedly and just…it hurt.
It hurt because it reminded you that you were in no place to feel hurt. It hurt because you realised nobody else would understand the bitter feelings bubbling in the pit of your stomach. It hurt because the summer had shown you a new side of Quinn Hughes, and now you had lost him before you had even really had him.
“Hey, you good?” Trevor questioned as he threw his arm over you, bringing you close to his side.
“Hm? Yeah, just…think I drank too much,” you said as you dismissively waved your hand. You tore your eyes away from where Quinn stood at the bar and smiled softly up at the blond. “I think I might head back. I’m not feeling it anymore.”
“You sure?” Trevor frowned. “We can get you some water or—”
“I think I just need my bed,” you smiled sheepishly. “It’s fine. I can go by myself.”
“Absolutely not,” Trevor scoffed before his head darted up, his eyes narrowing as he tried to glance around the bar for someone in particular. “Where the fuck is Baby Hughes?”
“Trevor—” You started, but the boy wasn’t having it.
“Huggy! Have you seen your little brother anywhere?” Trevor called out to the oldest Hughes, and you wanted the world to swallow you whole right there and then.
Quinn looked at you and then Trevor. His eyes glanced at the arm still comfortably wrapped around your shoulder, the way you were tucked into his side. For a moment, you thought he was jealous.
“No, why?” He asked, his face remaining mostly blank. “Is something wrong?”
“Lady Hughes wants to head back to the lakehouse,” Trevor informed him.
Your nose scrunched up. “Lady Hughes?”
“You’re a lady and basically a Hughes,” he said with a casual shrug of his shoulders. “It works.”
You snorted.
“Are you okay?” Quinn asked, stepping away from the blonde at the bar as his eyes glanced over you.
“Peachy,” you replied with a strained smile that only made his concern grow. “Look, it’s fine. I’m gonna order an uber and head back to the house. I’ll be fine.”
It should have been fine. You messaged Luke that you were heading back early. You had ordered an uber and Trevor insisted that he would wait outside with you until it arrived. It should have been fine.
Except the boy had the bladder of a squirrel when he was drunk and was running back inside to go to the bathroom, promising he would be quick, and giving the oldest Hughes brother an opening to step outside the bar with you.
Alone.
“What’s really wrong? You hardly drank anything,” Quinn said, his arms crossed over his chest and his worry evident in his voice. And something about it just pissed you off more. Something about his concern for you just made the sight of the blonde under his arm sting a little more, like salt in the wound.
“I’m just not feeling it, okay?” Your response was snappy, and maybe if you weren’t two shots and a cocktail down, you would have felt bad.
“Woah,” Quinn scoffed and shook his head. “Sorry for caring.”
And then the word vomit really started. “Do you really care?”
The defenceman frowned. “What?”
“Do you really care, Quinn? Because it didn’t look like you cared about much inside there other than the blonde you have been chatting up all night,” you commented coldly.
Quinn stared at you in disbelief. “Is this what this is about? You’re going back to the house because you’re jealous I’m not paying attention to you all night?”
You scoffed. “Oh wow.”
“Am I wrong?” He snapped back at you.
“Yes! Deeply so,” you gritted through clenched teeth, and you hated the way your eyes watered with tears of frustration. You didn’t want to cry, and certainly not in front of him. “I just thought—”
“You thought what?” Quinn questioned, his hands now resting on his hips.
“I thought what we had was worth a little more,” you eventually spat out, with every ounce of self-control working to keep your voice from sounding too shaky. “That maybe you’d have a little more decency than to just flirt with some girl right in front of me.”
“We aren’t dating,” was his only response.
“Yeah, I know,” you replied bitterly as the car you ordered pulled up beside you. You reached for the handle, already hating yourself a little more when you felt a tear run down your cheek. “I just made the mistake of thinking you were a decent fucking human though.”
He called out your name but you didn’t give him a chance to respond as you slid into the backseat of the uber car, slamming the car door shut and letting the tears fall as the driver pulled away from the sidewalk where Quinn still stood.
…
The one time you two acknowledged the mess between you was the start of a new chapter in your life, the start of Quinn Hughes playing a predominant and recurring role for the first time ever.
It was the following day after the night at the bar. The boys had returned somewhere after three in the morning, after the bar had presumably closed and they had been kicked out. You heard them coming in, heard their drunken giggles and horribly loud hushed voices. But you didn’t have the energy to do anything but lay in bed and listen as they all scrambled off to their own rooms.
Your sleep had been shit. Your thoughts had been running wild. And by the time the first rays of light were starting to peek through your curtains, you dragged yourself out of bed and downstairs to the kitchen. You found the biggest mug you could find, filled it to the brim with coffee and made your way to the pier outside.
It had been quiet, serene even. The sun was beginning to peak over the horizon, painting the sky in different shades of orange, pink and blue. The birds were chirping, the wind was breezing in the early morning chill and it should have been perfect.
But it wasn’t.
It shouldn’t have surprised you that he followed you out to the pier. Quinn Hughes seemed to have a nab for knowing when you wanted to break the serenity and silence of a moment.
You didn’t say a word to him, you didn’t even turn to look at him as he settled in the spot next to you and stared at calm water in front of you. You stayed locked in the silence, letting the sounds of branches rustling and distant boat motors accompany the quietness between you.
It made you want to scream.
And then, he spoke.
“Nothing happened between me and the blonde.”
You didn’t say anything, but it seemed like Quinn wasn’t waiting to hear your response. Instead, he continued talking. He sounded frazzled, like the words were pouring out of his mouth and he couldn’t stop them.
“It wasn’t—” he paused, shaking his head. “It couldn’t even be like that even if I wanted it to. You asked if I cared yesterday, but do you wanna know the truth?”
You remained silent.
“The truth is that ever since the night at the fire pit, you’ve been stuck in my head. You’ve been stuck in my head and no matter what I do, I can’t fucking seem to make it stop.” He let out a dry, humourless laugh. “You’re my baby brother’s best friend. I shouldn’t be fucking thinking about you like that.”
Quinn shook his head. “But I couldn’t stop. I couldn’t stop watching you. I couldn’t stop thinking about you. And then I kissed you, and I knew I was fucked. Absolutely fucked because now I wanted the one thing I shouldn’t be allowed to have, so I fucking panicked and told you it was nothing because if I told you, then maybe I could trick myself too.”
You finally turned your head to look at the boy, the conflict and doubts clear in your eyes but Quinn seemed to have a knack at reading you better than most people.
“Baby, I couldn’t stop caring about you even if I tried,” he whispered, his voice cracking a little as he flashed you a sad smile. “We aren’t dating. We never were. But maybe it just scared me how much I…wouldn’t mind if we were, or we had, or—” He shook his head. “I was a dickhead yesterday and I’m sorry.”
“You were,” you said and something in his chest eased from just hearing your voice. “But I was a bit of a brat too. I should have—”
“We were both idiots,” Quinn murmured before laughing softly. “Like, really fucking dumb. But I know I care about you. And not just in a ‘we are sleeping together’ kind of way. I care about you more than that.”
You wanted to say you felt the same way. You wanted to tell him the way your stomach flipped whenever he touched you. You wanted to tell him the way your heart stuttered when he smiled at you. You wanted to tell him you were addicted to his touch and obsessed with his kisses.
But all that came out was, “what about Luke?”
Quinn’s brows furrowed together slightly in thought. “We don’t have to tell him. Not yet, at least.” He said, hesitating for a short moment before he extended his hand out to you, palm facing the sky. “How about we just try us for a little bit?”
Your lips twitched upwards. “And what is us?”
“Whatever you want it to be,” he assured you. “Call me whatever you want, baby. Your boyfriend, your boy toy, your sugar daddy—” He laughed when you playfully shoved him. “I mean it.”
“Boyfriend has a nice ring to it,” you admitted in a shy voice, your eyes on the water below your feet.
Quinn grinned. “Yeah?”
“Yeah,” you grinned back as you finally turned to look at him. You glanced down at his hand before taking it, intertwining your fingers together and squeezing softly. “I want to try us.”
“Then we’ll try us,” he murmured before leaning forward to capture your lips against his.
And somewhere, deep down inside you, you knew it was wrong to keep it hidden from Luke. He was your best friend. He was your person. He was Quinn’s brother. He deserved to know.
But maybe you also deserved to keep a secret or two from Luke. Maybe he didn’t have to know every single detail about your life. Maybe you deserved to have some fun.
Maybe you deserved to give Quinn Hughes a standing chance, just you and him and whatever the fuck ‘us’ would lead to.

Hi! Could I ask for headcanons of Damian and a reader that’s trying to befriend him? Like, they’re dating one of his brothers and are just trying to bond with him.
Hope you’re having a good day!
“DO YOU EVER SHUT UP??” ── .✦ dollish
A/n: this is actually creativee, and ty ofc you too, I was eating a burger while making this so correct any mistakes in your head pls
(Platonic!)
Sibling Rivalry You start off with the best intentions of being a good sister-in-law, but every time you try to engage with Damian, he challenges you to a duel. “You wish to be my sister-in-law? Prove your worth!” You look around a bit confused “How about proving your worth by helping me cook dinner instead?” You say a bit weirded out by this “king” act He reluctantly agrees but still insists on holding a sword while stirring the pot just in case this is an attempt on his life.
"Are You My New Mother?" Damian finds it strange to have a sister-in-law. One day, while you're helping him with his homework, he looks up and asks, “Are you my new mother?” You burst out laughing, saying, “No, I’m just your super cool sister-in-law! Way cooler than anybody else!” He narrows his eyes, “You are not as cool as you think, Do you have body dysmorphia or do you need a mirror?” He says side eyeing you.
Cooking Disaster You decide to bond with him by cooking dinner together. However, your culinary skills are questionable at best. After an hour in the kitchen, you both emerge covered in flour, and the kitchen is a disaster zone. Damian looks at the charred remains of what was supposed to be lasagna and says, “I think I preferred it when you didn’t come into my life.”
Pet Therapy Gone Wrong You asked dick what Damian liked best and dick said animals so you try to bond by bringing home a puppy, hoping it would melt his icy demeanor. Instead, the puppy jumps all over him, and he ends up on the floor with the dog licking his face. He exclaims, “This creature is trying to assert dominance! This is unacceptable L/N .” You laugh, “Well, it’s working. You look pretty helpless right now!”
Shopping Spree You decide that every good sister-in-law should go shopping with damian, If the dog didn’t work maybe a bit of shopping would. You take him to a mall and try to get him to try on some casual clothes. He glares at the store employees like they’ve offended his entire bloodline every time they suggest something. You end up with a pair of socks that have cats on them, and he’s stuck with a beanie that has a giant “D” on it. “This is not acceptable,” he mutters, but you can see he’s secretly amused.
The millennial core jokes..the problem with dating dick is you get infested with millennial jokes and start acting like the millennials you used to laugh at. “Hey, Damian, why did the Batmobile cross the road?”, he clearly cringes and then scowls. “I do not know.” “To get to the other side!” He rolls his eyes, muttering, “You are truly old.” You beam at him, “And yet, I can still fit in! Skidbi or whatever you guys say!”
Movie Night You invite him to a movie night, thinking it’s a great way to bond. You choose a romantic comedy, and he looks horrified. “This is not a movie! It is an abomination.” You insist, “Just watch it! It’s supposed to be funny.” Halfway through, he’s making sarcastic comments and you realize he’s getting into it, even if he pretends not to enjoy it.
Unintentional Matchmaker You try to set him up with your niece who’s around the same age as him, Thinking it would help him socialize. He turns up with the girl and they’re both awkwardly silent, prompting you to burst out laughing. “Are you two plotting a wedding or just not talking?” He glares, “It is not a marriage proposal!” but you can see the faintest hint of a blush.
Baking Lessons You attempt to teach Damian how to bake cookies, claiming it’s a “sisterly bonding experience.” He takes it very seriously, reading the recipe as if it’s a sacred text. When the cookies turn out slightly burnt, he deadpans, “This was clearly an attempt on my life.” You retort, “Nah, they’re just crunchy a new trend.” You take a bite almost chipping your tooth. “Mhm! Mmm yummy……” Damian raises an eyebrow at you. “Your not enjoying it.”
The Ultimate Test Finally, you declare a “Prankster challenge” where you both try to outdo each other in ridiculous antics. You prank Dick together, try to scare Alfred (didn’t work), and end with an epic pillow fight. When it’s over, both of you are exhausted, lying on the floor. Damian sighs dramatically, “I suppose you are not the worst sister-in-law one could have although you are questionably clueless .” You grin, “And you’re not the worst little brother-in-law either!”

um could I request Conner Kent with a male reader who is just like him. Reader is a clone of another hero made by Cadmus, but the reader is a year or two older. When Conner and their first meet is during his initial escape and him coming apart from the team, and them bonding over them being clones. What would their relationship be like.
Conner Kent x Plastic Man Clone Male Reader
Headcanons
Reader is a clone of Plastic Man, cuz I love him.
Heyo my Hatchlings, how has everyone been doing? I finally finished up my assignment and I’m finally back. Did you guys miss me?
As a clone of Plastic Man, you put a good amount of people on edge when you appeared. Seeing as Plastic Man is very much immortal and unbeatable in the long game, they feared if you were good or evil, as there wouldn’t really be any way to defeat you if you turned out to be bad.
Luckily for them, you turned out to be as good of a guy as a clone of Plastic Man could be. You weren’t completely black and white, and sure you stole sometimes, and had a habit out of causing problems for corrupt people in power, but who were they to blame you.
You lived with Patrick Obrian, since he’s the closest thing you have to a family, and he never even had the thought of rejecting you because of your clone status. If anybody knows what its like to be judged and struggling to exist, its him.
Patrick plays an active supportive role in your life, and he teaches you how to use your powers. You end up being very skilled at the shapeshifting part of your shared powers. Sure, you still stretched, grew or shrank in size, anything Plastic Man could do, but you enjoyed shapeshifting the most. You even got a hang on switching colors, something Patrick struggled with.
When Young Justice was cooked up, you were one of the first they placed on the team. Mainly because of how powerful you were, and since part of them wanted to keep an eye on you, just in case.
You never took anything too seriously, it just came with the territory of being a clone of Plastic Man. Live life and all that. You did get into some arguments with different members of the team when it comes to morals, but that’s to be expected of a team.
When the team finds and rescues Conner, you immediately feel a level of kinship with him. Your clone status isn’t known outside of the league, so the knowledge Conner was born with doesn’t let him know you are a clone too.
As everyone tries to figure out what to do with Conner, you just settle down beside him, your stretched limbs dragging closer to you until they’re the normal length, where you offer him a snack or something to drink.
“Youd think they’d be better at dealing with clones, huh?” you joke, chewing on your own snack as he just looks at you, still confused and on edge about everything.
At his questioning glance, you lift your goggles and wink at him, pointing a thumb at yourself as you almost proudly declare yourself a clone of the best member of the justice league, if you were to be asked anyways.
As the league tries to figure it all out, you sit with Conner and just talk his ear off, never letting him wallow to far and making it harder for him to overhear the negative things said about him. Only Patrick knew, but the League fearing that you’d turn evil still weighed on you, and you didn’t want Conner to deal with the same thing.
Its only after you’ve made him smile and laugh that you accept that you’ve done your duty. When its time to leave you give him a way to contact you, and give him another cheesy wink before pulling your goggles back on, telling him that you clones should stick together.
Over time you become one of the people Conner is closest too, especially when he isn’t as welcomes by the people around him as he had hoped. This angers you and by extension Patrick, but your father figure just rolls his eyes and says he isn’t surprised.
In the beginning Conner spends a lot of time with you and Patrick, but mainly you, since you are closer in age. To be someone to look up too, you even stop with your petty crime for a while, just so your bad reputation won’t rub off on Conner.
Seeing him mingle better with the team, you take a happy step back and let him build the relationships he craves. Because of your different opinions and looser morals, you never became much more than acquaintances with the team, but seeing your fellow clone happy is enough for you.
But even as Conner gets closer to the team, he still holds onto you, since you were the first person to show him casual kindness without any suspicion or wanting something in return. You also have a lot more life skill than he does, so going to you for advice is normal for him.
When the time comes, you were most likely the one to leave the young justice team first out of everyone. You just don’t fit into their dynamic, and you run best on your own or with your father figure. Its hard to be an immortal who would never get to experience true normal life on a team of people who could.
You don’t leave the league, but you become more of a contractor, someone they call in when they need the help. You keep beating up bad guys, but you also fall back on the familiar feeling of crime. You only steal from those that deserve it though, and use your shapeshifting to easily get away with it.
It becomes a bit of a running gag, as the league always sends the young justice team after you since you aren’t an actual lethal threat. It kinda becomes training for them, and since Meghan can’t ever find you through mind powers, they have to work hard to find you.
When Conner leaves the team you to go out for drinks. Who cares about your ages. Seeing your father figure, you could be thousands of years old and never age physically, so it didn’t matter to you.
If your relationship was romantic, this would most likely be where it developed further, since Conner would be less tied to the team, and he could spend more time with you.
If your relationship isn’t romantic, it would still develop from here, just become more brotherly. You always joke you’re the batman to his superman, always shapeshifting into batman when you do, much to Conners fake annoyance.
Honestly even if it became romantic, youd still transform into batman and make kissy faces at him, since superbat is probably a running gag in the league.
You guys go on dates, even if its platonic, just to spend time together, maybe travel the world a bit, or even travel space, since you could easily survive away from earth. Theres probably also some very deep conversations about existence and your worth, since being a clone and always being treated like one weigh heavy on anyone.
When it truly hits Conner how much you struggle with your own role as a clone, he’s a bit surprised. Hed never imagined you were just completely fine, but you had always seemed to let the comments and suspicion roll off your back.
All in all, you two have each other’s back, always. The bond you have is deep in the way only two people created the same place for the same purpose can have. So, no matter if its romantic or platonic, you two become a familiar sight on and off the battlefield.

SEAN MACGUIRE
You were ethereal in his eyes. Always shining, blooming, filling every space you were in with joy and feeling of safety. Soft hair sparkling in the sun, pupils always wandering around, looking for a sad soul to cheer up. Hands in the air, moving around uncontrollably when you tried to tell a story, gesturing the things that you were imagining. Truly mesmerising, he felt like he just had to have you, but his every attempt at flirting with you was just taken as a joke, rewarded by a small smile from you, a little giggle, and it broke his heart, making it rush at the same time.
But Sean MacGuire was an impatient man. Impatient and so obvious with his emotions. Expressive, always made it known when he felt good or bad, when he was falling apart (which was a really rare sigh anyways) or his heart was full of passion. But you made it easy to feel euphoric and then send him to the lowest mental state he could ever be. He couldn't wait to tell you how he wanted you to be his and only his, but for some reason - you were always busy, someone always wanted to talk with you, stealing your attencion. And when you were free, he was too stunned to speak. That never happened in his entire life! His never ending monologue, his mouth that was always talking, everything stopped. Sean MacGuire smiled, excused himself for bothering you and left, leaving you confused but a smile didn't leave your soft lips. He was sitting alone, planning a new way to confess to you. Never in his life would he admit that he was, simply but truly, scared. Of rejection? Maybe. Or of the fact that you might take it as a joke. That would be even worse in his eyes. Sean suddenly remembered the fact that Arthur one day came up to him and asked about his relationship with you, he said that it was so horrendously obvious that he likes you, that he's sweet on you, but he also told him that he might be too simple for you. Too straightforward but at the same time - not cultured enough. Bascially telling him that he might be too dumb for you, straight into his poor face, into his lost puppy eyes. The truth was that, in fact, Sean was just lost without you. With you around, he felt like a better version of himself. That's why he wanted you so badly. He asked Lenny to teach him to read, so he could become a well-read person for you. But Sean MacGuire was an impatient man. Abandoning his mission after only few pages. His impulsitivity took over, he decided that if he's not the one for you, it's better to know as soon as it's possible. In case he had to move on, in case you decide to break his young, so obsessed with you heart. Stealing Dutch's cologne, Lenny's good shirt and wearing his only pants that were clean and somehow not holey - he got ready for you. He even washed his hair in the river, using actual soap that one of the girls from the camp once gave him. What a sweetheart. His plans were suprisingly really detailed. Sean wanted to pick some flowers for you and ask you to go to the town with him, he wanted to mount his horse, see you mount yours and go. But his dreams and distant goals got interrupted by hearing your voice coming near his tent. — Sean! Javier was just asking if you... — you didn't finish your sentence. Halfway in his tent, you laid your eyes on him, clearly preparing for some event. A date? Maybe? How could you know? — Oh! Sean, you look really good! What happened? — you looked up, his soft hair, freshly washed, much more shinier, looking healthy for once. — you washed your hair, so it must be something big. — you added, smiling. It was semi-dark in his tent, light being casted only by a little lamp with a candle inside of it. So you couldn't see how his cheeks got redder when he heard your compliment. — well, I actually...You know... — he started, nervously, but who wouldn't be nervous in that kind of a situation? Being caught preparing for a date, that wasn't even accepted by the other side in the first place. — It is something big. — Sean's voice still had his iconic cheerfulness, but you could hear the little shakes in it as well. But you didn't interrupt, you listened. He took a deep breath and said quickly, his accent almost making it incomprehensible — I was wondering if you'd like to go to the town with me and maybe you know have a drink or two? Like a party, just the two of us, you know? Ay, yeah! Actually I also wanted to say that I really like you! Maybe love...Yeah, that might be a better word for that. I love ya. So? Would you like to go with me? — he looked up at you, his heart beating so fast, he could almost hear it. It's now up to you. Do you agree or not?
JAVIER ESCUELLA
Absolutely smitten with you. Sitting by the fireside on a warm night, you were situated at the opposite side of the fire, watching people that were finishing their chores around the camp. Your delicate presence, hair moved by wind, shining eyes. His mind was in a different place. Holding his guitar, trying to play and sing, but you were distracting. It was almost impossible to get him to the state that he forgot how to play, but with you around, he literally seemed like he just bought this intrument, constantly making little mistakes. Blood rushing to his cheeks every time he got out of rhythm or the sound his guitar made was closer to a scratch than to any melody. But you seemed to not mind, accepting him the way he was, quietly giggling, but not laughing at him, you were just so full of happiness, your gaze only encouraged him to keep playing and he loved it. Loved you. Badly.
But he felt like loving you was never enough, since you seemed to never actually acknowledge his feelings, the deep desire that made his dreams full of you. Everything reminded him of you. You joined the gang a few months ago, how could you fuck him up so badly in such a short period of time? Wrapped around your finger, willing to give you the entire world if you asked him to. He just knew that you'd never ask him to, you were just too...good. You never asked for help yourself, but always wanted to help others. Putting everyone above yourself, taking care of everyone, even Micah, who said so much bad things about you, spitting poison at you every time you walked by, but when he felt ill, you still was a first person to give him health cure.
Javier could only watch from afar. Fascinated, hypnotised by your moves, your energy, how your voice could put everyone in a good mood. When you were telling stories, you'd tell them with so much passion, but when someone else needed to be listened - you were all ears, asking questions, made everyone feel welcomed and safe. He sometimes really thought that you are not real, that you are an angel sent to the camp in those hard times.
Lost in his thoughts again, he missed a string while playing and his guitar made another weird sound. Immediately grounded by that, he looked in the direction you were sitting, only to realise - you were not there anymore. He started looking for you, and he saw that you were sitting next to him. How could he not notice? God, were his reflexes that poor? If it was a life threatening situation, he'd probably be dead by now.
— I noticed that you are a bit lonely here, Javier, — the way his name slipped of your lips so softly, how he'd kill to hear his name coming from that sweet mouth again and again, until he lost his senses. — Mind if I keep you company? You seem stressed, is something bothering you? — when he heard your voice, and your body getting a bit closer to him, his muscles tensed. He put his guitar away, gently, laying it on a ground, leaned it against the barrel that was near.
— what can I say, hermosa. — he sometimes called you Spanish pet names, because he was sure you didn't understand them (if you could, well, he was not aware...) — There is that one girl that completely took over my mind and I can't focus on anything else because of her. She's not even mine, but I'm jealous of everyone that makes her laugh. It's probably wrong, but it's the truth. She's like a milagro walking on this sad country, healing everyone with her presence, so I'm almost certain I don't deserve her, but oh...I can always dream, can't I? — he could swear you put a spell on him. He never meant to open up about his feelings, especially not around you, especially talking about you.
What a fool he was. He couldn't even manage to raise his eyes up to meet your gaze, so he was not able to see the sadness flicker in your face, soft sigh escaping your lips, which was a sign of your heart getting a bit broken, he taken it as a sign of stress and fatigue.
— do you want me to help you with asking her out? I'm a woman myself so I know what most of us like to do... — you said, and oh, he knew that it would happen. Your first thought when someone has a problem is to help them out, any way you can, no matter your own feelings and struggles.
— tell me...how your perfect date would look like? I think she's really similar to you, she might enjoy the same things. — he said, still nervous, his eyes locked on the ground.
So you started to talk about your perfect date. How you'd spend it, and his head was full of ideas by now. He knew exactly where to take you, what to do, so when you finished your monologue, he offered, finally looking up, making eye contact:
— are you free tonight, angelita? Your wish is my command. — his cheeks a bit red, the orange light from nearby fire slightly shining on his skin.
Not it was up to you if you'd like to go with him. What do you say?
KIERAN DUFFY
Oh, that poor boy. His heart couldn't take it. The only person that showed him any kind of affection in this camp, the only one that cared, listened to him, believed him. When he was still tied to the tree, he used to spend all day looking at you with fascination, trying to understand who you were to other gang members, his gaze was subtle, always looking away just in time before anyone would notice. But he was sure you would never look at him the way he looks at you, and his heart ached every time he reminded himself of the fact that he was just a stranger in this camp, he was considered a spy, traitor, enemy. Yet you still treated him with such kindness and care, always asking if he needs anything, if you can do something to ease his pain and stress.
Sometimes you sat near him and talked with him, not caring about what others might think, saying that as long as there is no proof of him doing anything wrong, you will not act like he is a criminal. And he was honestly so thankful for that. He was not sure what he deserved to have you as some sort of ally, but since you were the only one he trusted (even if it was only a little bit) he started to actually feel something deeper than friendship towards you.
He didn't want to admit that it was love. But if not love, then what was it? Unreasonable high blood pressure when he saw you, his eyes sparkly, heart beating faster, his body always felt so full of life, shattering when he saw that someone disrespected you or treated you badly. He couldn't do anything, so he just watched when Micah, because he was literally the only one that ever mistreated you, decided to yell at you. He could only sigh, waiting for you to come to him and moan about how you hate this blonde, egocentric guy.
His most common way of showing his affection to you was by taking care of your horse while listening to you, always remembering everything you said, whether it was a mention of your favourite food, people that you like, your dream future or what beautiful clothes you saw at the shop when you travelled to town the other day. Your complaints that you couldn't afford them though... How Kieran wished he could be rich, so he could buy you those clothes, so he could see you happy. But he knew he could never be able to do that.
He dreamed of asking you out. You were on his mind all day and night, but, god, how was he supposed to do that? He couldn't leave the camp, and if he could, it was supposed to be a fishing trip or something, no going to town, no having too much fun, no buying things (he had no money anyways).
So the day you came to him and said that Micah once again told you that you are an useless addition to the camp, instead of passive listening and nodding his head, he actually asked: — how about we go fishing? I will teach you how to do that so next time he says something like that, you can prove him wrong by bringing bunch of fishes to the camp! — his voice started to shake at the end of his sentence, when he understood that he is basically asking you out on an almost date. He looked at you with hope in his eyes.
— fishing? I don't know if Micah would consider fishing as an useful skill...I don't think if anything that is done by a woman is useful in his eyes. I actually believe he might be jealous of Dutch, he wants him all to himself... — you said, giggling a bit. And Kieran had to agree with you. The way Micah was always complimenting Dutch was actually a bit concerning, but as long as he could stay in this camp, he didn't want to ask. He guessed that "that's how the things are in this gang".
— well, you're probably right. He will treat everyone badly regardless of their hard work. But hey, fishing is a nice thing to do anyways, right? I promise you, it's really relaxing! — Kieran was nervous, of course, but you could also see an honest, bright smile on his face, he showed signs of happiness, and that was something really nice to see.
So? Do you agree to go with him? It's your choice.
pls give me any feedback, even as anons <3 much love, teaser

Kokichi is asexual and you can't change my mind (and Kaito is an ace too 'cause i said so)
Here is why i think that way
Disclaimer! This post is not created to judge or shame anyone. I created it to explain why i think about them in that way and maybe try to make this headcanon to be more popular. I might sound kinda salty at times here but in general I don't mean to hurt anybody.
It kinda confuses me why so often Kokichi portrayed a little bit too intrested in making sexual comments and jokes. I probably shouldn't be surprised, because I know that we live in a sex obsessed world. I'm kinda used to it at this point. But I think people kinda exaggerate it.
In actual game he doesn't make sexual comments and jokes THAT often and 90% of the time they are directed at Miu who is the MAIN sourse of them in game. I even think that he would not say so many of those things if Miu wouldn't be starting it first.
He even get's confused for a second when Gonta tells him he couldn't catch Miu for Insect Meet and Greet because his "face got hot".
And in bonus mode Dangan Salmon Team he isn't particularly intrested in that either. In most cases when the player chooses sexual option even though the game states that it was a good option Kokichi will often just change the coversation to a different topic. Yeah, they had fun, but they didn't really talk that much about initial chosen option.
"Let's read a dirty book."
"How about joining my organization instead?" *starts rambling about his organization*
And yes, I REFUSE to call this protag Shuichi. This is NOT my favorite protagonist. He would not fucking say this.
Look how they massacred my boy *cries*
One thing Kokichi also does very often is being sarcastic. I really like this scene. But surprisingly I've seen people taking his excitement as genuine and was like ??? How? Have you gone so crazy after you've seen his first phrase that you blacked out and missed part when he went "nope :)". He literally was like "Is that what you wanted me to say? You wish😊🖕"
I also like how sometimes when the protagonist say something sexual Ouma redirects topic from himself. And he often suggests Tenko as alternative. For a long time I couldn't understand why it was her specifically. And then I realised. It's because Tenko will beat up any man who says something like that to her. He literally indirectly tells player to fuck off.
I can't belive how often those moments are overlooked.
I think that's all my main points regarding Kokichi. Everything else is not very convincing and can be dismissed. But I just want to point out that his color palette basically resembles asexual flag, because I think that's a neat detail.
Now Kaito. I'm gonna be honest. The main reason I headcanon him as ace is because I headcanon all my favorite characters as asexual. But there is a reason I fully accepted him as ace.
The scene in Talent Development Plan where he's discussing "man's passion" with Leon and Teruteru. While they were talking about girls it turned out Kaito this whole time was talking about chasing passion in more philosophical sense. And by exploring "unknown worlds" he probably meant space (they really should've seen that coming).
That's pretty much it. I just saw 1 (one) reason to make it canon for me and immediatly jumped on it.
I think that's it for both of them. They're not the only characters i headcanon to be on the ace spectrum (and i also have some on the aro spectrum too!) but they're the ones I think about the most, so I thought I'd explain it.

Dean, Sam and Cas out on a case and someone mistakes Cas for Dean's husband and Dean gets really giddy about it and keeps joking that Cas is the old ball and chain and grabbing his hand while they're walking to swing it obnoxiously and makes teasing remarks to people talking to about the honeymoon ("not that I saw much of the resort with this guy around! ;) hoo!").
Sam is halfway offended and two thirds amused - "what happened to the guy who called me gay for using conditioner?" "Come on Sammy, it's the 21st Century, get with the times. It's just a couple of guys fooling around, it's not hurting anybody."
Castiel is confused but quietly pleased to get attention, and only gets exasperated when Dean keeps interrupting his interrogation to continue the teasing. When Cas drags him to the side to tell him off, Dean loudly proclaims "looks like I'm sleeping on the couch tonight!"
Eventually the original person who was mistaken finds out that Cas is an angel and that they're not FBI through the traumatic events of the case, and goes "you're not married, are you?" and (bubble burst) Dean gives a weak smile and a shrug "I don't think I'm exactly husband material. Monster bait material, that I've got down."
In the boys moment, Sam comments that Dean seemed really happy messing around with Cas, and Dean goes "yeah, well. Guess married life just aint for me. Give me the open road any day." But the episode ends zooming in on Dean fiddling with one of his rings as they drive away.
#my 4th or 5th concept of dean likes being fake married to cas dufhshfbd#i just love a fake relationship!!!!!#cawis creates#destiel

When Gojo Hana, Satoru’s first wife, had come up to him after going to the bathroom for only a short of three minutes with a baffled expression, he wasn’t sure what to expect.
Her lithe fingers curled themselves around his biceps as she found home between his thighs. Satoru’s mind was fuzzy, especially after three drinks and four shots, and that merely intensified the feel of her skin against his. It was her expression that he wasn’t sure if he was imagining to be tenfold more worried than it truly was, which pulled his lips into a straight line before he asked, “You okay?”
“Satoru,” she started, a small crack in her voice and Satoru leaned back against the chipped wood of the high table. “You know L/N Y/N, right?”
It was funny, and Satoru realized it was funny because he let out a small, nervous chuckle as his wife dropped your name, that all it took was a mention of your name to get his muscles to tighten like he was going to war. He had gone through every single opportunity for Hana to find out about you—not your existence, because there was hardly anybody within his circle that didn’t know of you—and come out of it unscathed (translation: Hana remained unaware). This couldn’t be any different, though she’d never outright mentioned you before.
He remembered when Hana sat across the quartz tabletop, writing down name after name in delicate cursive, and asked about the L/N family. He’d stiffened, but only momentarily, before he said something along the lines of of course, father would have it no other way. And that, for the time being, was true because there was no way his father wouldn’t want your family to be there after so many years of working together. Satoru wanted to ask Hana, at that moment, if she was sending out invitations addressed to family but he held off until later to make it not seem suspicious. She’d said, ‘Of course not! I want them to be personal and meaningful.’ Satoru felt as though he was ready to change her mind, but how could he argue with something as sweet-intentioned as that?
“My father worked with hers,” he replied, pushing away memories. “Why?” he asked hesitantly.
There was no suspicion on her face, just curiosity, and Satoru hated himself at that moment.
“I think I saw her in the bathroom?” It felt as if all his senses perked up and heightened at her words. Fuck. “She was with another girl. I don’t know her name—brown hair, brown eyes, and… about this tall?” Her hands raised up to demonstrate how tall Reina was. He knew exactly who his wife was talking about because if you were out, Reina was with you. He’d always joked how both of you came in a package, and even Suguru only informed one of you about a party and when the other asked him if they were invited, he always said you both always come together.
It had been ages since Satoru saw either of you, but it was hard to forget how Reina always fought for you when you were his girl. And he was glad you still had her because she wouldn’t leave you abruptly, figuratively packing up all the pieces she left in your life in an instant like he did.
“I wouldn’t know,” he coolly said.
Hana’s lips curled into a small frown. “Her friend said something about how all I know is Y/N’s dad and yours work together.”
“Well, not anymore but yeah.” He feigned indifference, though every nerve of his body felt as if it was on fire. He noticed how her frown only deepened, and he asked, “Were they mean to you or something?”
Hana, sweet, precious fucking Hana, instantly shook her head before she paused and looked down at his chest, as if cowering away from his gaze. “Kind of? I don’t know, maybe she was offended that I only knew her because of your dad?” When she realized she was implying you were being righteous, she took her hands from his arms and raised them in surrender. “I mean, I don’t think she’s, like… a bitch or anything! I might’ve heard them wrong.”
Satoru tried to stop himself, he truly did. But he had to ask. “They still here?”
When she nodded and subtly pointed to the table you sat at with Reina, he couldn’t stop his neck from immediately turning in your direction, a haze of confusion and animosity behind his eyes. Not because you were being rude to his wife, but because he had to be in your presence after months. With his wife. It was truly a miracle that Hana hadn’t noticed the entire emotional turmoil behind his eyes as soon as your name was brought up, which is why he turned to meet her eyes once again and said, “She won’t bother you again, love.”
“You look especially happy today,” Reina commented as her body slithered into the passenger seat of your car.
She was right, you did look happy and you felt it, too. After the conversation with your mother—the unmangling of a burden of emotions between mother and daughter—you felt as though a weight had finally been lifted off your shoulders. The small conversation with Satoru felt like a faraway memory, one which your mind didn’t feel the need to unpack and decode anytime soon because, as Reina had said, he was a taken man. He had a girl at home, and that scratched away any possibility of you and him ever being anything, even friends, because you were engaged to him at one point.
Did that fact hurt? To a whole different level, but you weren’t going to let it tear you down like it had over and over again in the past few months.
“I’m just happy to be invited to the biggest club opening of the year in Kawasaki,” you replied, giggling as you began driving to the location. This was a date you marked on your calendar months ago in big bold letters that said ‘PARTY CLUB LEVITATE.’ It was mere seconds after you opened the dark papered invitation with gold embossed lettering inviting you to a new club, Levitate’s opening. You had dressed yourself in leather pants that hugged your skin perfectly and a shimmering silver halterneck top that covered everything it needed to and just that.
You and Reina glossed over the fact that both of you would be drinking, which meant neither of you would be in condition to drive back. And, even though there were a few people from your circle who would be there, too, it was a hard guess to assume who wouldn’t be drinking.
That was a bridge to cross later because as you stepped through the large gates, flashing your pearly whites as you said your name to the security guards, you were overtaken by the instinct to let go completely loose. Within a blur of moments, you’d downed five shots and you were nursing a glass of—what the bartender said was—a fucking expensive glass of hennessy.
Once you deemed yourself buzzed enough to go onto the dance floor and find Reina, your hips began moving off their own accord. You loved letting go. The music reverberated off the newly-done walls, a sheen of excitement running through the air as everybody had large smiles plastered on their faces. You and Reina’s arms were on each other's shoulders as you both let the heavy thrumming take over.
At one point of the night, many drinks and dances later, you were sitting comfortably on the high chair in front of three bartenders who made small talk and recommended drinks. They recommended the ‘sinner’s delight’ to you which was a combination of fuck-knows-what, and you had to admit it was delicious. Reina was still on the dance floor, taken with a man that had been giving her googly-eyes all night, and you were merely trying to catch your breath.
“Hey, stranger.” You heard someone say as the bottom of the chair next to yours scraped against the floor, indicating they were sitting next to you. You, your mind hazy, turned to your side and were stunned to meet a pair of familiar dark eyes.
“Geto…” you trailed off, and he shook his head as a small smile overtook his lips.
“I’m out of here if you want, trust me. If you—y’know, don’t wanna talk.”
It was your turn to shake your head, and you did it with vigor. “No, no. Stay. I’ve actually been meaning to get in touch with you.” It wasn’t a lie, but it wasn’t the whole truth either. You were planning on getting in touch with Geto, you just weren’t thinking about it to the point you’d actually go through with it. “It’s just been crazy hectic recently.”
There was a sad smile on his lips, and you could imagine he was probably thinking that by recently, you had to mean just about a year which clearly meant you were lying. You were lying, but you also felt you had every right to since you and Geto became friends through Satoru, and Geto was always going to choose Satoru if he had to. In fact, he did choose Satoru because from all the posts you saw on Instagram, they were still as thick as thieves.
“What have you been up to?”
Your mind was blanking, it was a combination of the alcohol and reconnecting with your past, but you tried to go through your timeline since the last time you truly talked to Geto. “I’ve been looking to start a company—or something, I’m not really sure—and my father was helping until… Well, yeah. Right now, though, I’m just helping my mother out with papa’s company and getting stuff in order. Reina and I are actually doing this thing where we read twelve books a month, too, so—” You cut yourself off, realising you were rambling and you felt your cheeks warm up when you noticed Geto was hanging onto each of your words. “I don’t know. Anyways, how about you?”
“I’m sorry. About your dad. I know I wasn’t there for you but—”
You raised your palm, attempting to stop him because you didn’t wanna get too deep into the topic of your father. “No, I know. You called, texted, sent letters, Geto. You don’t have to apologize.” He looked forlorn, and your fingers instinctively reached up to place themselves on top of his own to reassure him. “Trust me.”
Geto took that with as much stride as he could, and attempted to make normal conversation with you. He told you about his art gallery which you knew was picking up since the last time you met him. He asked you for your opinion on some pieces he was looking at, and you tried to give him your best advice. And even though you knew he hadn’t meant to scroll through his camera roll of paintings and accidentally scroll past an image of Satoru and Hana, your lips still curled into a frown because it reminded you he was friends with not just him, but Hana, too. Hana was Geto’s friend the same way you were his, through Satoru. Geto masked his mistake by immediately giving you a backstory of one of the artists, and it did get you interested, but not too distracted from your new realization.
“Suguru! You made it.” Your head snapped up and you thanked every God above for the intrusion of the new voice. Geto locked his phone and looked up at the same time as you at the blond man whose eyes were crinkled up showing the tiniest hints of a smile. “And you.” His gaze shifted, landing on your figure that was leaning against the table. “Glad to see you made it too.”
You remained silent, unsure of how to respond to a stranger as charming as him.
“Of course, I did, Nanami,” Suguru said, rolling his eyes lightheartedly.
A lightbulb flickered in your mind and you were instantly on your feet. “Oh, god. I’m L/N Y/N, thank you so much for the invite. The opening is great.” You were standing across the owner of Levitate, and you couldn’t help but drink every feature of his in. He was tall, and if you got any closer to him, you were sure his figure would cast a shadow over you instantly.
He laughed. “I’m Nanami Kento.” He bowed slightly, and his hand reached out for yours and his fingers gently lifted it up before he grazed his lips over your skin. “The pleasure’s all mine, of course.”
Geto shifted uncomfortably in his seat, and you realized it was probably because neither you nor Nanami were pulling away from the other. You cleared your throat, mustering up an awkward smile as you slid back onto your seat. Your eyes still remained on him, and his remained on you and you found yourself slightly burning warm under his gaze.
“I gotta go, duty calls,” Geto said over the silence though the music was still going on. He flashed his phone screen that displayed an incoming call from his assistant before he wrapped an arm around your shoulder and pulled you into a side hug. It wasn’t much—not the bone-crushing huge the two of you used to share—but it bloomed a sense of familiarity within you, and you could sense Geto felt the same too because he smiled slightly. “Don’t be a stranger, okay?”
You nodded, overcome with a sense of joy that only occurs after you reunite with somebody that has done you no wrong.
Nanami bids him goodbye, too, before he slides into the seat Geto was occupying.
“Are you liking the place so far?” he asked, hands gesturing to the surroundings. “I wasn’t sure if I should invite the area’s biggest party animal because you’ve seen many of these kinds of places. But I can at least expect an honest review from you, right?”
You gulped at how he referred to you as a ‘party animal’ and you knew that people had begun seeing you that way over the past few months, too. You weren’t sure if it sat right with you, but you didn’t have anything particular against it.
“Hmm,” you hummed, trailing a finger over the wood of the table, feigning serious thinking. “I think you could change…” You paused, noticing how his brow went up at your words in curiosity. “Everything. It’s trash.”
He narrows his eyes before he lets out a laugh, and you follow along. His hand lightly covers your knee as the two of you laugh a little too obnoxiously over a joke that was hardly funny, but you blame the ‘sinner’s delight.’
“I thought I’d have to close this place down, no joke,” he said, still between bits of laughter.
You smiled. “Hey, don’t do that. This is my new weekend spot, I’d hate to have it taken away.”
His eyes turned warm and he tilted his head at your comment. “Yeah?”
You nodded, ignoring the feeling of his hand against your knee. “Yeah, to the point you’ll have a drink named after me.”
He blew out a breath as he called the bartender over and whispered something into his ear.
“What was that? You order drugs or somethin’?”
“Oh yeah, the code is strawberry and pickles if you want some.”
“I’m glad to know this place has options, then.”
“No, but I just ordered you a drink you’d like.” When you pointed at your half-full glass of ‘sinner’s delight,’ he shook his head and said, “This one’s not on the menu. Just for you.”
Gojo Satoru always hated meetings.
He hated having to prepare what he would say, and hated even more whenever the conversation didn’t go the way he’d prepared. It wasn’t good that he saw meeting his father as a meeting, but that was what it was. An extremely rage-filled meeting that he was never prepared for because he had no idea what his father would say.
“Listen, Satoru.” Oh, Satoru was listening, alright. “Mrs. L/N isn’t backing down. I fear she’s taking selling the company off the table.”
“Probably because you told her you didn’t want to buy it and just have it.” Satoru knew his words held bite to them, but that was the only way his father would realize that he can’t merely get whatever he wants. And also because he couldn’t stand talking about your family at all as the memory of the last time they had dinner was still fresh in his memory.
“I said I wasn’t paying the money she asked for, not that I wasn’t paying at all.”
“Father,” he said, letting out a strained breath. “You have to ask, not demand. And I’m not talking about this anymore—it’s not my problem and I’m not getting involved in it.
When Satoru walked out of the office, he realized that he was being harsher on his dad than he ever was. Hana seemed to realize the same, because she froze up when he opened the door and caught her standing a few feet away, probably having heard the entire short conversation.
He brushed past her, giving her a small smile, towards their shared bedroom but she followed while saying, “Satoru, darling, are you okay?” She followed him to the bed where he laid down, fingers rubbing at his eyes as he tried to alleviate some of the tension away. “Talk to me, Satoru. Are you upset with your father?”
Of course. Of course he was upset with his father because when was he not?
“Hana, please—”
“No, Satoru.” She cut him off and he could barely inhale at her tone. Rarely had she sounded so curt with him, and everytime she did, he wasn’t sure how to pull her out of it except for leaving her alone. He hadn’t been able to figure out the specifics, despite it being many months since they’ve been married. “You’ve been acting off for the past week, and it started after dinner at the L/N’s. Did something happen?” “No.”
“Then what is it?”You. It was you who he couldn’t get out of his mind. He couldn’t forget how you’d once and for all, completely solidified that you and him were over. He couldn’t forget that he could’ve tried harder. He couldn’t forget that he could’ve explained everything. He could see that you were still seeking closure, and he knew he should give it to you but he couldn’t have. Not unless he wanted you to fall down the path of having to heal all over again. Because of him.

Hello ! (I’m not sure if your requests are open but I love your fics so I really wanted to try 😭) Could you maybe write a Genya x Male reader one ? Where like Genya deals with confusion and internalised homophobia after realising he fell in love with a guy ? IM SO SORRY IF YOU DONT DO MALE READERS OR SMTH LIKE THAT, HAVE A GOOD DAY !!
SUMMARY: Genya's emotionally constipated. It's the Shinazugawa genes - but even more so when it comes to...guys?!
A/N: KYAAH Ty anon glad you enjoyed, and DW my inbox is open anytime I'm just a little slow in writing rn because of exams and I'm moving house. I have done male reader before but I'm not too used to writing gay T-T so I'm sorry if this turned out the way you wanted
WARNINGS: Male reader in case you don't read the asks and only warnings/Minor swearing
Much romance happens at Kimetsu Academy.
There's Zenitsu and Nezuko, although Genya considers it more of an obsession on the blonde’s end seeing as Nezuko doesn't openly display any signs of liking him back romantically, whatever the delusional idiot thinks. There's also Tanjiro and Kanao, the perfect epitome of friends to lovers. And whatever Aoi and Inosuke have going on.
But none of that ever happened to Genya. Sure, he thought the occasional girl was pretty or nice, but aside from the fact he explodes into a tomato just from a simple “hello” he's never been actually interested. Of course that occasionally made him feel a bit left out amongst his friends, like he was missing something great, but hey, Muichiro and him would be single pringles forever and that was fine.
(Genya's very betrayed to find out Muichiro had received a confession…and was considering accepting it.)
But it was a little unbelievable to the Kamaboko Squad that in all of the sixteen years of his life he had never had a crush, hence the interrogation they were giving him that particular day during lunch.
“Have you never fallen in love? At all?!” Genya wants to snort; as if Zenitsu would ever notice anybody else's love life but his own.
“HAHAHAHAA! LOSER!”
Tanjiro calmly shoved Inosuke away from a fuming Genya, smiling brightly. “I'm sure Genya has one! And we'll be more than happy to help him confess!”
“Aren't crushes supposed to be secret-”
“Then we have to figure out who it is first!” Zenitsu hollers.
“No-”
“Is it Kocho?!”
Kanao, Tanjiro and Genya both look scandalised but Zenitsu barrels on. Aoi face palms. Inosuke steals everyone's food.
“Is it Kanrojii?!”
“Why is everyone you're listing so much older than me!”
“OKAY, OKAY! Uh…Koyuki-”
“SHE'S ENGAGED TO SOMEONE ELSE!”
“Sheesh, I got it, stop yelling! That Shabana girl?”
“Just why-”
“Maybe Genya does like someone but just doesn't realize it,” Kanao offers timidly.
“That's a good point, Kanao!” Tanjiro beams, causing Genya and Kanao to flush red but for entirely different reasons.
“How am I supposed to know if I like someone?”
“If you find them cute?”
“That seems really superficial,” Aoi says disapprovingly.
“You'll get really nervous around them, like your heart speeds up. You'll probably stare at them a lot too, and want to do lots of things for them, maybe hold open doors?” Tanjiro nods wisely.
“And they're the first person you look at to see if they're laughing at a joke,” Kanao agrees.
Genya considers. “Then none of the girls you just listed, honestly.”
“It's alright, you'll find the one for you one day. There's no rush now.”
“HAHAHA! TENYA IIDA IS GOING TO BE ALONE FOREVER! HAHAHHAA!”
“MY NAME IS GENYA!”
***
Truth be told Genya had lied.
It wasn't a lie exactly either. More of…an avoidance of the truth. He didn't feel that way about any girls Zenitsu had mentioned, or any of the girls at school.
But he did like someone, yes.
Or no. Definitely not. It couldn't possibly be.
“Oh, hey, Shinazugawa.” Your simple wave as you joined his side outside the classroom door was enough to get his heart pounding and slightly sweaty like he had just suffered an entire class with the gym teacher Tomioka.
“Thanks for holding the door!” You call out over your shoulder, flashing him a bright smile while entering the class and taking your seat. You immediately turn to start talking with your friends, something Genya's extreme thankfully for because then you can't see the tomato red that's painting his face as he's still stuck, frozen and speechless, by the door. Only Iguro-sensei’s cold “Do you plan to have the lesson by the door or something?” Shook him out of it.
You're so confusing, Genya thinks, averting his eyes when you catch his with a mouthed “oops” and raised eyebrows, because he wants to revel in your attention and hide in a hole from it at the same time.
It was a pleasant kind of confusion, though. The kind he wouldn't mind thinking about forever; it gave him an oddly warm, fidgety feeling inside like he had just drunk an entire thermos of hot chocolate and got marshmallows to top it off. Then he promptly slaps himself (mentally) because he shouldn't be thinking about this, that and you.
Not like it stopped him from staring at the back of your head all through class. He doesn't realize it until your friend turns their head around and makes a face at him, leaning closer to you to whisper something. Genya panics and ducks his head, burying it into his arms for a few minutes before he judges it's safe to look up.
And when he does you're smiling at him knowingly, as if the both of you knew something the rest don't. Oh good lord.
Your laughter is something Genya wishes he could make as well, when the whole class watches Iguro-sensei trying to tell Inosuke off, but the dumbass can't get the teacher’s name right at all. He finds himself laughing as well, a combination of that and because of you before it hits him.
“You'll get really nervous around them, like your heart speeds up. You'll probably stare at them a lot too, and want to do lots of things for them, maybe hold open doors?”
Oh shit. Check, check, check.
“And they're the first person you look at to see if they're laughing at a joke.”
And check?!
Shit shit shit shit shit-
Genya groans. He does like you after all.
But that's not right, it's got to be wrong.
You're a boy. Genya's not gay…at least he didn't think so…Then again he's never actually liked a girl. But he's never liked a boy either. Until you.
Forget it! You're not a crush, you're the reason why Genya is going to drive himself crazy right now! Hell, why did the idea feel so wrong but so right at the same time?
Genya rubbed his temples. If he was being honest the idea only seemed so wrong because…well, because he's just never considered that possibility before. It just hasn't really occured to him he might be attracted to the same gender. It's a new concept, yes, but…not really a terrible one. He got all red with girls yes but it wasn't because he like-liked them or thought they were cute.
Was crushing on a guy really going to be any different than a girl then? Genya groaned again. Judging by his behaviour these days…yeah, not really.
Okay, then if hypothetically he DID like you and he liked guys…how would Sanemi and his friends react? Would they still want to hang out with him? Would Sanemi still…consider him his brother? What would his mom think?
What a headache. What would…you think? It'd be pretty embarrassing to like you and you're straight, Genya thought. Then again was he even sure he was gay, even certain he had a big fat crush on you?
“Hey, you alright?” The voice startles Genya out of his thoughts. He lifts up his head and looks around, startled to see everyone's left. Shit, he hadn't even realized class was over. Idiot.
He glances to his left and nearly dies of fright.
You cock an eyebrow. “Um, seeing a ghost, Genya?”
“No!” He just about shouts, flailing his arms as he tries to stop himself from falling out of his chair. “I'm fine! Really! Sorry…just, just kinda out of it.”
“Wanna talk about it?”
Yeah, let's talk about how I've just realized I might be-
“It's fine, it's nothing important.” Genya notices your fidgeting however. “What about you?”
You hesitate. You're playing with your sleeves quite nervously. It's making him paranoid.
“I'm just…there's a new arcade that just opened up.”
“Sounds fun,” Genya offers. He's got barely enough brain cells still functioning from the close proximity between you both.
“I was wondering - um, do you wanna go with me? I can buy all the tokens,” you quickly blurted out and held your breath.
“Sure.”
“N-no. Just you and me. Like on a date.” You rub the back of your neck, looking away. “No - no pressure or anything! I know you might not be into guys, you might already like a girl-"
“You're gay.”
You wince at his tone. Genya wishes he hadn't sounded so accusing. “Last I checked, yeah.”
“Sounds fun,” Genya repeats dumbly, because holy shit, you like him you like guys too he likes guys he really wants to go to the arcade with you oh thank god-
You blink. “So that's a…yes?”
“Absolutely.” Genya waves his hands frantically. “If you're still up for it! Nothing’s awkward! I - I do want to go as a date, not as friends, and, uh-"
He snaps his head away, embarrassed, but he glances back long enough to see you grinning like you've won the lottery.
"Does 2 pm work for you?"
Shit. He really does like you after all. And with the way you're smiling at him like that maybe he can deal with whatever bullshit that's going to come next.
***
“Hey Genya, do you want to come over this weekend?”
“Muichiro wants to go to that pizza place again.”
The Tokito twins stare at him expectantly over the usual din of the Kamaboko Squad's usual shenanigans. Now or never.
“Sorry, I'm busy.”
“With what?” Muichiro looks out off; Yuichiro frowns in surprise.
“With someone.”
The silence was so thick you could've cut it with a knife - or Zenitsu's screaming.
“WHO?”
“HAR?!”
“Is it a date?” Tanjiro managed to slap a hand over the blonde's mouth while Aoi deals with Inosuke. The twins and Kanao's mouths hang open in surprise.
Genya picked at his food. “Yeah. At the new arcade.”
“Congratulations!”
“I thought you were planning to be single forever-”
“Shut up, Mui!”
“With who?"
He says your name and again the silence is thick.
Tanjiro's eyes light up in recognition and shock. “Isn't that the new boy?”
Genya nods stiffly.
“You're…gay?” Kanao asks tentatively.
Genya nods again.
“I had no idea! I never would've guessed either.” Tanjiro shakes his head, stunned. Much to Genya's relief…he's smiling? “But good for you, Genya, I'm sure you'll enjoy the date!”
This wasn't so bad after all. It's like a weight’s been lifted off his shoulders. Now it's just how well…Sanemi will take it and his family. Probably not as easy.
“I thought it was a little weird you rejected that cute girl the other day.” Muichiro looks excited. “Now I've got a gay best friend!”
“What are you, twelve?” Yuichiro grumbles, but turns to Genya. “Have a good time then.”
“THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE! DON'T SHOCK US LIKE THAT, GENYA!” Zenitsu finally squawks, clutching his heart.
“Wait, what's gay?” Inosuke's lost. “Is Genma happy or something?!”
Never mind.
***
“Damn, I knew you were good at shooting, but basketball too?” You wiggle your eyebrows at him, pretending to throw an imaginary ball as Genya throws an actual one through the basket easily.
“Heh, this one's just easy since it's so near.” The machine flashes lights and beeps, displaying a new highest score. “And kinda short.”
“You are pretty tall,” you agreed, counting the leftover tokens. “Hey, we still have enough for that claw machine!”
“Seriously?”
So far the date's going pretty well. Genya hadn't made a fool of himself when you showed up dressed up in that letterman jacket and excitedly tackled him yelling about how you managed to get about an entire bag's worth of tokens. You both had spent your time mostly fooling around playing air hockey, shooting games (he had a moment of crisis before sitting next to you in the cramped space), he got forced to dance with you, you claimed he cheated at the racing, he won you a figurine as an apology for accidentally smacking your hand during Whack-A-Mole. Genya was kind of regretting that now, because you were now convinced Genya had amazing luck and could continue to win you more prizes. But as Sanemi said - a million times - those things were a scam, so Genya compromised by saying if only there was tokens leftover from the basketball game.
Alas and alack, he supposed, but you were already speeding towards the claw machine.
“Come on, come on, almost there, almost there!” Your chanting is barely heard over the obnoxious arcade music but you're practically breathing down his neck.
“Okay, okay, I got it, shut up for a sec.” Genya's grip on the controls is so tight he's actually afraid he might rip out the joystick by mistake like Sanemi last time…although Sanemi had done that on purpose during his rage quit and since had been banned from that particular arcade.
“Dear Kami-sama, please, please, please-”
“SHIT.”
“NOOO! So close!” Your head's tossed back in an exaggerated groan, flipping off the stupid claw that let go just a second too early. “I could've won that Hashira figurine!”
“I was the one playing!” Genya protested.
“I got the tokens!”
“I offered to pay you back! You said no!”
You punched his shoulder playfully. “Hey, this was supposed to be my treat. You can pay for the next date.”
“Next - next what-"
“Oh jeez, your face is so red now. Let's get some fresh air; I know a good dessert store.”
Genya's down bad alright.
***
“Where the hell have you been?”
It's already late by the time Genya lets himself into the house. His siblings should've been asleep, his mom too, so hopefully he could…uh, break the news the next day, when he's written and planned everything out, chewed off his nails and get that support you promised him earlier.
Luck had decided to abandon him since his second attempt at the claw machine however, since now he's been caught kicking off his shoes and smiling down at his phone, at the picture you've sent him of the figurine in your shelf.
>>Maybe I'll get more from you
You wi<<
He shuts off his phone quickly. Sanemi’s sitting on the sofa, arms crossed and does not look like a happy camper. Genya tries for an innocent smile. He probably looks like he has a stroke. If Sanemi were a cop, every criminal would be cracking in less than a minute under his interrogations.
“Out with a friend. Sorry I'm late, I was talking them back home.”
“Really? Saw all your friends - Tokito twins and that Kamado kid - earlier today. Try again."
“Someone else.”
“Cut to the chase, Genya, you were out on a date, weren't you?” Sanemi barks.
Genya's shoulders slump. “Yeah. Please don't be mad, I did tell Mom.”
“You should focus on studying. Your math grades are still too low.” Sanemi's expression softens, just slightly. "Who's the lucky girl?"
“Ah.”
“I swear to god, if it's that Shabana girl-”
“It's a guy.”
A very awkward beat of silence.
“WHO?!”
Genya almost expects to be attacked when he says your name. Or mauled after Sanemi demands every detail of what went down at the arcade. Maybe thrashed while finally confessing yes, he's not straight. But not stand there while Sanemi stares at him, strangely quiet.
“You two didn't do anything suspicious?”
Nope. You'd been quite understanding when he admitted he was still kind of getting used to the newness of…all this and offered to save a kiss for next time, causing him to explode into scarlet and try to poke you with his straw. “Aniki!”
“Is this a new thing or have you been…keeping this from me?” Unbelievable. His older brother almost looks hurt by that notion.
“A new thing, I swear, I wasn't planning on keeping anything from you, I was just waiting for the right time and right thing to say and I - I didn't know how you'd react.”
“Well…” Sanemi mutters something unintelligible, eyes moving away slightly.
“Um…what?”
“I SAID, AS LONG AS YOU'RE HAPPY WITH HIM, IT'S FINE BY ME! NOW GO TO SLEEP!”
Genya couldn't stop his grin. “Really? Thank - thank you, Aniki, and okay, I will.”
“And don't do anything too intimate before you're married!”
***
You spat out your straw. “He said what?”
Genya takes a long sip of his latte, slipping his hand into yours. “I didn't make that up.”
“No,” You say, shaking your head. “That sounds like Shinazugawa.”

imagine stealing someone's content then crying wolf and saying people are homophobic... for telling you not to steal. could not be me.
anyway here's a convenient web archive link of the exchange (whether or not images load is between y'all and god, my internet is the worst).
as well as my input as the resident queer (joking, but i mean... look at my pfp and url and tell me i'm not qualified-)
like... the hypocrisy. "anyone can make a gif", ok. anybody can edit a screenshot. and yet you say that's art and not gifmaking
newsflash. both are art.
the time it takes you to slap text and glow effects and re-create your mask is equal to (or in some cases, less than) the time it takes to
record/download high quality video footage
upscale it
adjust the speed
adjust the coloring
add individual effects
coordinate the set and time each individual gif to ensure they line up
and render gifsets
especially of the quality we see from people like @alexxmason and @collinnmckinley (whose gifs were stolen)
also...
this is just a false equivalence made by someone who's mad. besides the gifmaking aspect... are you SERIOUSLY saying that writers aren't artists?? aren't creatives who put effort into things??? genuinely fucking confused here, mate.
edit: op blocked me as soon as i commented too, lol.
anyway, going to drop this here since apparently people love stealing shit and think crediting gifs is impossible for some reason
and in case the archive images don't load, this is how the exchange went down when privately asked to delete the reposted gifs. these screencaps were posted by @codcat and come from his instagram, where he reposted the tumblr convo without censoring the url.
meaning that his fans could find people and harass them should they choose to do so.
so much for the whole "not linking to avoid harassment" mentality, huh?

High School Sweethearts Pt.4 - Chris Sturniolo
PT1, PT2, PT3, PT5, PT6, PT7, PT8, PT9, PT10, (rest of the parts on my Masterlist)
(Fem reader x Chris sturniolo, Evan alert💀, kinda cute at the end? I don’t know what else tbf)
A/n: I wanted this part to be slightly more longer and substantial so grab tissues and a punching bag and all aboard the emotional rollercoaster xoxo (thought I’d add the other parts up here in the parts in case anybody new wants to access part 1,2 and 3 easier)
It was Evan.
“Come here.” He whispers to me, I swallow before walking up to him, fear overcoming me. “I thought you went outside.” I speak quietly, looking down at my feet.
“Shit y/n you can’t even look at me? What about everything we went through?” He says slowly and clearly. I scoff, “what?” He demands as he grits his teeth. “Nothing, what do you want?” I mumble. “You and Chris, what’s going on there huh?” He blinks at me, I look at him finally and feel shivers go through my body.
“Nothing.” I speak quietly with a tremble in my voice. I can’t help but be utterly terrified of him, he switches up so quickly and after what he did I can’t trust him. “What? I can’t hear you? Speak up y/n.” Those words ring through my head, the same words he spoke that night. “Nothing.” I repeat louder, in a more wobbly voice.
My eyes glaze over as those words replay through my mind bringing back memories of what happened and what could’ve happened. “No need to yell sweetheart.” He stated, smirking at me.
I go to walk away but he grips my wrist and lifts it up to him, “it’s rude to walk away from someone when they’re talking to you.” He spoke through his gritted teeth, the vein in his forehead reddening and I feel tears drip down my cheeks.
“There is something going on because why was he so close to you?” He pulls me closer so I’m inches away from him and can feel his cold breath fanning over my face, “sorry for not making him stand on the other side of the hallway” I say sarcastically.
“I could just fucking..” his grip tightens on my wrist before we are interrupted by someone. “Is there a problem here?” Mr Rockwell tilts his head and Evan lets my wrist go.
“No sir.” He smiles with his chest puffed out, “maybe you should be on your way, your grades need improving.” Mr Rockwell does a sarcastic smile and Evan just walks away, Mr Rockwell’s smile drops and his face switches to concern.
“Was he bothering you?” He speaks lowly, I nod and wipe the tears out my eyes. “If you need to talk I’ll be in my classroom, I’ll forget that you left your detention early with that Sturniolo boy.” I smile, feeling relieved. “Thank you.” I speak breathily. Mr Rockwell offers to escort me to my next class but I don’t want to burden him so I head to my next class alone.
Chris’ POV
I sit in English literature, feeling happy about my conversation with y/n this morning. “Chris.” My teacher says, I bring my focus to her and hum in confusion, “can you answer the question?” I look to the board and shake my head, “sorry Miss, you know I’m shit at reading.” I laugh awkwardly. Her face stiffens.
“Language!” She raises her voice and points at the door. “Wait out there I’ll have to talk to you about your continued use of inappropriate language.” I hear kids in my class snickering and whispering, I roll my eyes and slip out my seat and wait outside the door.
I look at the colourful board on the wall to distract myself. I hear voices coming down the hallway but I don’t take my focus off the board, “yeah and she started crying bro..” Evan laughs, his friend Michael scoffs, “it’s her fault she was talking back. What a..” his eyes dart to me and he stops speaking.
I look over to them, I have a feeling I know who they’re talking about. “Oh shit.” Evan laughs, “someone’s been bad?” He teases and his friend chuckles, my brows knit together.
“High school bad boy I think, don’t you Michael?” Evan mimicked, “keep walking Evan.” I say monotonously. “I’m terrified honestly,” Evan jokes, “I had a run in with your little girlfriend this morning.” My heart drops and I turn to them. “She’s not my girlfriend, how many times do I have to repeat myself?” I said.
Evan laughs “I don’t care, do you know what she said to me Chris? She said she didn’t like you that way!” My jaw tightens, I know he’s lying. “You’re not a good liar.” I speak slowly.
“Fine, what really happened is she was scared of me and cried,” he fake pouted “I would say she’s a bit of a drama queen isn’t that true?” He looks to his friend who’s laughing and nodding. She had every right to be scared after what he tried to do.
“She’s dramatic as fuck and honestly, I wouldn’t date her Chris, she won’t do anything with you, she’s a pussy.” He spits, I curl my hands into a fist as I walk up to Evan and go to swing for him before my classroom door opens and my teacher walks out. “Gentlemen, return to class.” She says to them.
Evan cracks his neck before smirking and walking away, Michael following after him like a little dog. “Care to explain Mr Sturniolo?” She questions me. “They were talking shit about this girl that I kinda have something with but it’s not something at the same time. They were talking about her like she was just an object. How can they do that?” I ask, feeling sadness wash over me.
My teacher nods her head, “that’s a pattern with society these days, just go back inside.” She sighs. “Oh, okay.” I don’t argue and walk back into the class. “Thank you” I whisper as she passes me.
Y/n’s POV
It’s lunchtime and as per usual I go and sit in the library on my own. I don’t have many friends as most the girls are bitches who constantly shit talk the others when they aren’t there, and I’ve had problems with a few of them.
High school is hard.
I pull out the granola bar I picked up this morning and start to eat it, reading the math book I picked off the shelf to study for the test. “Thought I’d find you in here,” a familiar voice, my head jolts up and I smile when I see Chris infront of me. “You okay?” He asks me with concern and takes the seat opposite me.
“Yeah of course I am.” I lie while holding my false smile, he tilts his head and shakes it slightly. “No you’re not.” He pulls his chair in closer as I sigh and discard the granola bar into my bag. “I uh,” he leans forward on the table to me “I heard that you and Evan had a ‘run in’ or something.” He downplays the worry in his voice but it’s still evident on his face.
“Oh yeah, that was nothing.” I shrug it off before closing the book in front of me and directing my attention fully to Chris. “I bumped into him and Michael in the hallway, it didn’t seem like nothing the way he was talking about it.” He turns the books to face him so he can read it. Michael, that must be Evan’s friend’s name.
“I really don’t want to talk about it, please?” I look up at him and his eyebrows are knitted together as he try’s to read the title of the book. He lifts his head up and nods reassuringly “This is that Algae-bra shit isn’t it?” He asks, smiling softly. “Algebra Chris.” I correct him and laugh. “See I knew I could make you smile.” He leans back in his chair and takes in the surroundings.
“So what exactly do you do in a library?” He looks at all of the bookcases. “Reading, studying obviously.” I scoff and smirk as Chris scratches the back of his head awkwardly, “oh yeah.. I knew that.” He trails off looking at the delicate designs on the ceiling.
“How did they paint that without it dripping down onto them?” He asks, I roll my eyes and laugh, “probably used a towel? I don’t know Chris,” he looks back at me and grins “why are you asking me stupid questions?” I pondered as I continued to laugh. He shrugs and joins in laughing.
We continue to laugh and joke for a good 5 minutes before the library assistant hobbles over to us and Shushes us loudly causing Chris to swing his head around to face her. “Be quiet.” She spoke sternly and in a loudened voice. “Says you.” Chris talks back and I lean over the table and hit his arm. He turns back to me and mimes, “what she..” And I shake my head trying to hold in a laugh.
“Out.” She crosses her arms and narrows her eyes at Chris. “Me?” He asks in a tone of disbelief. She nods and looks at me. “You can stay but next time be quieter.” Chris slowly walks to the doors and motions his hand for me to come with him. I roll my eyes and pack up my bag, placing the book on the shelf and quickly walking to the doors.
“I can’t believe you just got kicked out of a library.” I say shocked. He smiles “maybe the old hag needs to let kids have fun, because if I’m being honest we weren’t even loud, she spoke louder than we laughed. Like come on.” He chuckles and I let out a breath, “it’s a library Chris what do you expect?”
“I’ve never been in a library properly y/n, how am I supposed to know?” He turns to me and raises his hands in a confused motion. “That I can believe.” I muttered under my breath. “What did you say?” He asks me, squinting his eyes, “I said you should know the rules of a library.” I lie before smirking.
“Okay sure you did.”
We turn the corner and theres a clock on the wall so I check the time. 10 minutes left of lunch break. “What do you wanna do?” He asks me, taking me out of my daydream. “Well I don’t know, what do you have this next period?” I look up at him as he bites his lip thinking. “I think we have science.” He nods.
“Ugh I forgot about that, I hate that teacher she’s horrible.” I complain. “Let’s just skip it then.” Chris suggests. I turn my head to him and widen my eyes, “we will get in trouble Chris.” He rolls his neck, “come on it’s only the last lesson, and wouldn’t you want me to take you out for some lunch?” He smiles at me, “because half a granola bar doesn’t seem so substantial.” He adds on.
“Fine, but I don’t have any money on me.” I say, he stops walking and leans down to me, “I said I’ll take you out for lunch, so I’m paying.” He didn’t give me an option to try and pay him back.
“Okay thank you.” We start walking down the hallway.
“I knew you weren’t just friends! Spending lunch together as-well? Come on Chris don’t lie to us we’re your friends.” Evan shouts from down the hallway and I look to see him, Nate, Michael and Matt. Matt sticks out from them as he is quiet and sweet and doesn’t dress like a complete douche. “Fuck outta here Evan, Matt and Nate are my friends, you two just follow us around like little lost puppies.” Evan looks around for them to defend him but all I see is Matt chuckling to himself. “I’ll see you at home Matt.” Chris waves them off and I smile at Matt as he waves back.
“You should’ve denied it, they’re gonna take that and run with it.” I whispered, “I’m taking you out for lunch, let them do what they want.” He grins and we walk out the door into the cold Boston air.
“What about your skateboard?” I remember, “I’ll just get it tomorrow morning, I can walk to school.” He assures me, “so what food do you like?” I look up at him and shrug, still feeling nervous since I’m skipping a lesson.
“You good?” He asks me, placing his hand on my shoulder before removing it shortly after, I nod “yeah sorry I’m just worried that I’ll get in trouble.”
“I’ve done this enough times to know that they really don’t care.” He try’s to comfort me with his words but instead I laugh, “you’re a bad influence Chris.” He scoffs as if I offended him and puts his hand on his heart.
“Your words hurt y/n.” He says trying to contain his smile, “shut up.” I joke. “Remember who’s taking you on a date right now hm?”
“Since when is it a date?” I ask raising one eyebrow.
“Since I remembered I needed to take you on one.”
A/n: this part was an emotional rollercoaster. Raise your hand if u hate Evan 🙋♀️🙋♀️ I hope u liked this part, the next one should be.. interesting😉. Mr Rockwell rare W?

sirius black is the kind of man to let you do anything to him. you can touch his hair (only you). you can pint his face with kisses, you can even do his makeup. paint his nails. sirius black is a quality time man. "want to paint my nails baby?" "mhmm, let me get the paint."
thank you for requesting!🖤
.
Sirius Black was absolutely and positively whipped for you.
And everybody but you knew that.
By some power that was beyond anybody’s understanding, you didn’t seem to understand the deeper meaning behind his actions. You didn’t bat an eye at the adoring looks he gave you, nor the compliments he was constantly showering you in. You didn’t question the way he would make up any excuse to be the one sitting next to you in class or at dinner, or even the amount of times he joined you in the library to study despite the fact he hardly got any work done.
But the biggest mystery was how you never seemed to understand Sirius’ feelings for you despite the fact you were the single person in that castle that was allowed to touch his hair.
It was a well-known fact that Sirius loved his hair, and he prided himself in the fact it was known around the castle, no matter what year the students were in or if it was by the professors themselves. Everyone knew the care he put into his hair, and they knew he didn’t like anybody touching it—no matter what.
There had been cases where Sirius found himself in detention because someone tried to mess with his hair and he hexed him.
There had been dates quickly cut short when they had tried tangling their fingers in his hair.
There had been threats made whenever the boys pushed too far with the jokes about his hair.
But with you—he didn’t have a single care in the world, but that just seemed to be a fact that went over your head constantly.
“That feels delightful, darling,” he hummed in delight, his eyes falling shut as he rested his head against your lap, enjoying the way your nails lightly scratched against his scalp.
He had practically barged into the library, packing your books away despite your insistence not too. But Sirius started bragging about what a great day it was—a rarity with Scottish weather—and insisted you take a small break with him in the courtyard.
He had charmed a blanket out for both of you, and when you took a seat, Sirius was quick to place his head on your lap and give you an innocent grin that you knew the meaning of all too well.
“I feel like you dragged me out here just to scratch your head like a dog rather than take a break from studying,” you mused, taking in the sharp lines of his face and how they contrasted when he looked as though he was in a peaceful sleep.
“I just like your hands on me,” the boy remarked with a boyish grin, catching the hand you raised to smack his chest with before it even hit him. However, instead of letting it go, he intertwined your fingers together. “I just feel relaxed around you. I want to return the favour.”
Your cheeks warmed. “That is the best compliment you’ve ever given me.”
His lips twitched. “Does this mean you’re finally catching the hint that I’m flirting with you?”
Your hand paused. “What?”
Sirius let out a small whine when you stopped scratching his head but when he cracked his eyes open, he couldn’t help but grin a little at the confused expression on your face. “You really never noticed?”
“I was supposed to?” you retorted.
“Well yeah,” he said with a heavy sigh. “You get extra privileges.”
“Like what?”
“The fact your hand is anywhere near my hair right now is the biggest,” he said before he opened his eyes to properly look at you. “Like I said, I feel safe around you.”
“So you trust me in touching your hair?” you asked in a slightly softer voice.
“Yeah, love,” he confirmed with a nod of his head.
“You’re a secret softie, Sirius Black,” you murmured and delighted in the way his cheeks burned pink, but his grin mirrored your own. “I quite like you too.”
“Thank Merlin for that, otherwise these head scratching breaks would’ve gotten really awkward,” he remarked, causing you to snort.

「 CURSED 」
synopsis: love is a beautiful thing, but so too can it bring indescribable pain
— pairings: fushiguro megumi x gn reader
— disclaimers: profanity, angst, death, no comfort, gn reader
— word count: 2.9k
gojo version | masterlist
Megumi knew that his life was at risk each and every second he was out on the field. He knew what he was doing would potentially kill him one day. He was a jujutsu sorcerer. This was what he signed up for the moment he agreed to that idiot Gojo's offer.
But he didn't think that you would be involved as well…
"Huh?"
There was no way he heard correctly.
That's right, this must all just be one sick joke.
"...C-Cursed?" Megumi repeated.
No… he had to make sure. His ears were just fooling him, right? Right?
Ichiji nodded. "I-It appears so…"
Hah. Of course not. Life was never on his side. It may as well just be mocking him at that point.
Yuji, seeing Megumi's unusual silence, decided to chime in. "Is it the same one from Yasohachi Bridge? In that case, we can just go, find the source, and then do the same with the one from the bridge, right?"
"I'm afraid it's not that simple," Ijichi interjected in his typical fragile tone of voice. "Unlike with your sister Tsumiki, we don't know what exactly Ms. [L/n] is cursed with…"
"Hah?" Megumi scrunched his eyes. "You're telling me that even the school doesn't have a single fucking clue about what happened?!"
"Fushiguro," Nobara reprimanded, her arms crossed over each other. "Calm down. We’re in a public place here"
"Tch… How exactly can I calm down when [Y/n] is at risk of dying?! Huh?! Has that thought crossed any of your minds!? You're telling me that I should just stay here and do nothing and wait for… for whatever fucking thing to take them away from me!?!"
Ijichi, Nobara, and Yuji all exchanged silent looks. They had never seen Megumi like this—not even during the exchange event—with that level of pure anger and rage.
When it came to you, nothing was "too much."
You were everything to him—his other half.
So, to have that other half practically ripped away from him… was unbearable. The void that would be left by your absence seemed almost insurmountable. That thought alone was enough to swallow him whole.
“F-Fushiguro,” Yuji scampered. "[Y/n] might be able to hear you.”
Your hospital room wasn't far from where the four were discussing—or arguing, by that point.
"I don't fucking care. I'll do what I want—"
"Fushiguro," Nobara snapped, interrupting with more force, making even Megumi stumble backward. "You stay with them and protect them. That's… all we can do right now. For their sake," she said in a softer tone.
"....."
"Tch."
He walked away, bumping shoulders with the poor, confused Yuji.
"Fushiguro! Wai—"
"Itadori, let him be. He needs some time to himself to think," Nobara interjected, making Yuji stop in his tracks. "This kind of news can be hard for anybody to accept. What we can do for him right now is give him space."
Yuji solemnly nodded his head. "I hope he'll be okay…"
This time, Nobara was the one who agreed. "Yeah," allowing their gazes to rest on where Megumi had just stormed off.
Everything felt muted outside the hospital rooms in the dimly lit hallways. It was painfully silent, broken only by the faint murmur of distant voices and the soft shuffle of footsteps. Megumi angrily slammed his arm against the wall, almost certainly bruising his hand, but he didn't care.
You were dying—you could be killed at any time, and there was nothing he could do to stop it. A sense of helplessness like never before, all too familiar. Why were people leaving him again, one by one?
…Does no one want him to be happy?
Was he just doomed to live in a world of black?
What would it take until he was finally free from the shackles of faith? Was he just condemned to wander through life, forever haunted by the ghosts of loss?
Only when he inhaled a breath did Megumi's gaze finally fall on his arm, and the crimson stain blossomed on his sleeve. You wouldn't want to see him like this. So he wasn't going to allow you to, and instead, he pulled up his sleeve, concealing the evidence of his pain beneath the fabric.
He needed to see you again, to be by your side while he still had the chance...
With each step back towards your hospital room, his heart hammered in his chest. What if you were gone? What if it already took you? What if—
"Megumi?" you asked in your sweet tone, but it was weaker, much weaker, barely more than a whisper.
His breath caught in his throat.
Megumi's heart couldn't take this. It hurt. It pained him to see you like this, so frail and fragile, robbed of the life that once defined you. His heart clenched in anguish.
You weren't a jujutsu sorcerer. Hell, you didn't even have the ability to see what cursed spirits were. But you accepted every part of him—his flaws, quirks, and demons. But all that love you had for him would be for naught, and here you were, cursed with the exact type of curse, except no one had a clue what was the cause of it or who was the one who never did it. You weren't able to handle the curse as well as Tsumiki could.
Even still, you would put up with it "for him," as you would tell him, reminding him and yourself as well...
"Megumi," you said, resting on your hospital bed, your voice hardly audible from all the machinery attached to you. It was disgusting—all this to supposedly "save you." A fever dream.
"Can you come closer for a second? I want to see you."
But without hesitation, he answered your call without a second thought. You cupped his cheek, your eyes locking onto his.
"Look at you… You look horrible."
Indeed, he did look awful. He hadn't slept in days, nor did he get many chances to eat or drink. The toll of sleepless nights and neglected meals etched shadows beneath his eyes, starkly contrasting the rigid routine he would follow before your curse. Each passing day seemed to weigh heavier on him, dragging him further into the dark, empty chasm of exhaustion and despair.
You gripped at your covers, feeling the weight of your words, and Megumi's anguish settled heavily on you. "I know that I'm not going to live…"
"Don't say that!" Megumi interrupted, his voice fraught with emotion as he sank back, his eyes reflecting that of desperation and fear. "I'm sorry… I don't like it when you say shit like that."
"Fushiguro Megumi," you whispered, reaching out a hand towards him and feeling a deep ache right in your chest.
All this was so unlike the stern, aloof, almost borderline arrogant boy you have grown to love. So seeing that facade shatter, all because of you… felt awful.
He avoided your gaze, his fingers tracing invisible patterns on the hospital bedsheet. "I can't lose you, too," he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper.
There was then silence, interrupted only by the noises of the medical equipment on your bedsheet.
You mustered up all the strength you had left, and with a smile, "I'm still here, Gumi," you said softly, your voice barely audible over the beeping monitors. "And I'm not giving up without a fight."
Megumi finally met your gaze. "I know," he whispered hoarsely. "But… I can't lose you. I won't…"
"....."
You squeezed his hand, a silent promise passing between you.
"You… should go home."
"But—!"
"I'll be fine, 'gumi. Don't worry about me."
"..."
He could never find it in himself to argue with you. So he did what you asked and walked home by himself in the dark.
Alone in your shared home, the emptiness in the walls, the decor, and all the photos of you and Megumi reminded him every day of the future—and once you did pass, so too would the void also be stretched—left in your forever absence.
He dreaded every bit of this moment—every aspect of this fact. Because every moment that you weren't here confirmed an even bigger reality. That, someday, this will be the new norm.
His home… not, your home, never felt so lonely.
Only when he was watching you would he actually put something in his mouth after you told him off and heard the silent insistence of your gaze.
"You have to eat something," you scolded before coughing once again, the pain lingering without a moment of respite.
'Hah…'
Even in your own sorry state, you were worrying about someone else…
Megumi knew what he was doing was unhealthy, borderline self-destructive even, but that was of little concern when you were slowly losing your own life.
And you saw that. You saw that he was neglecting himself, and you would scold him for it.
"I'll be okay, Megumi. You know that."
'No…' he thought. 'I don't.'
You always said that.
Days passed, and all Megumi wanted to do was stay with you. Nobara, Yuji, and Gojo even visited you more times than once, and you all ate hotpot together. Yuji even brought a plate of his famous meatball recipe that you asked him to make "before you die," which made Megumi crook a smile the best he could.
It terrified him that you would even joke about a topic like that, but it was your own way of coping—he knew just from the fragile facade you would put up.
These small things kept both you and Megumi's minds off things.
…And perhaps a little too much.
"Gumi… I can get it myself."
You tried standing up, only for your legs to give and collapse right into Megumi's arms, which he held out in case such a scenario happened.
"Please… [Y/n], I'll get it for you. Please just rest."
It wasn't just Megumi anymore, but you had gotten much weaker, both physically and mentally.
The toll of your curse had left its mark, etching lines of exhaustion and pain upon your once vibrant pupils. Your once lively spirit now seemed dimmed, overshadowed by the weight of whatever was breaking you apart, one day at a time…
You found yourself unable to walk or to properly eat. It was almost like you were beseeching for all this pain to end. And it hurt him more than you could ever think—that his selfishness to keep you alive and just hold on was keeping you in despair.
Together in the hospital room, Megumi was brewing the tea you always drank alongside the so-called medications the hospital would provide.
That is, until Megumi eyed something on the countertop. A glass bottle collected dust with all the other useless medications that the hospital provided. 'What was that?' He didn't remember that bottle being there the last time he came—
No.
"...[Y/n]?"
Nothing.
"[Y/n]?" he tried again. And once again, no response.
'No…'
Turning around, he confronted the harsh reality of the circumstances. The air seemed to thicken around him as he dropped the plate to the ground, the clatter of ceramic shattering the oppressive silence. He dropped the plate to the ground.
It couldn't have been today, right? He immediately rushed to your bedside, your eyes now closed shut. His trembling hand sought out your pulse, but it came as nothing but a futile attempt to deny the truth.
'"No…"
The word escaped his lips in a whispered plea.
This couldn't be real… But it was. This was it. Today was the day.
But why was he so shocked? Didn't he prepare for this moment? He had known this day would come and had braced himself for the inevitable farewell, and yet… even he was unprepared for the magnitude of his grief.
Several hospital personnel burst into the room, only to be met with a sea of red, their faces contorted in horror.
It was a sight akin to a scene in a tragic drama, but this was no drama, nor was it a fantasy. This was no scripted fantasy—it was a stark, harrowing reality.
The sight of your lifeless corpse lay before them.
There was only the raw, unfiltered agony of loss, embodied in the form of your lifeless body cradled in Megumi's trembling arms, his cries echoing through the sterile walls of the hospital room. Megumi held you deathly close to his chest and his arms.
He didn't want to admit it, but he was horrified. That if he let go, that final fire of warmth in your body would disappear forever.
"S-Sir," one hospital personnel tried reaching his arm. "They're—"
"GET AWAY FROM ME!"
This was where you belonged. Yes. Right in his arms. With your head on his lap and his hand over your cold hand. You already looked to be deathly and inhumanly cold.
Despite everything happening around him, Megumi's focus remained solely on you, his grip tightening on your hand as if trying to defy the inevitable.
The hospital personnel persisted in their attempts to pry you away, but Megumi's resistance only grew stronger, his voice echoing through the sterile walls of the hospital room for them to leave.
Blaring lights and noises came from all directions, but Megumi couldn't hear them anymore nor see the person he cherished and loved with all his heart in front of him. Several figures were all crowded around, ripping him away from your corpse.
"Sir, please!" the staff tried again, this time with more force. "You need to calm down…"
"SHUT THE FUCK UP!"
His voice broke. "How can I calm down?! You’re taking them away from me! They're…" He choked back a sob, hiding away how he really felt—pure desperation.
His arms ever so tightened on you as the hospital staff all exchanged looks; the question of whether they should intervene or give him a moment of privacy lingered in the air.
Because you were everything to him…
"We understand, sir, but we need to first—”
Megumi's protests grow louder, bordering on hysteria. "You don't fucking understand! How can you possibly understand?! She's…" Again, his voice broke. His mind raced, overwhelmed with grief and disbelief.
But how could he calm down when the very essence of his world was being torn away from him? How could anyone expect him to just stand there when the love of his life was lying there, cold and lifeless? How could he remain composed when his heart was shattering into a million irreparable pieces? How could he ever even begin to forgive himself if he were to just stand here and watch them take you away?!
But that was the inevitable, and it was all happening in front of his very eyes.
Megumi's heart sank as he saw you being pulled away from him by the hospital employees. His hands clenched into fists.
His words broke up, and all he could say were stuttering sounds. Hot tears streamed down his face, and he squeezed his eyelids shut in the hope his tears would stop. His choppy breathing and watery eyes remained unmoving for quite some time, and he stood there.
He had time. All the time in the world to take it in…
At that moment, a flurry of footsteps came from outside, in the hallways. Yuji, Nobara, and Nitta rushed in.
"Fushiguro! We heard what happened! Is it true that—"
Yuji didn't finish that sentence. Oh.
Their voices trailed off as they noticed Megumi with no expression, his gaze fixed ahead as he walked out of the hospital room.
“...Fushiguro?”
Nothing.
With his usual stoic facade, the boy continued to walk out of the hospital room without a word, leaving his friends bewildered.
"Wait! Where are you going?!" Yuji called out, his voice tinged with urgency.
"Away from here," Megumi responded curtly, his tone brooking no argument.
Only then did either of them truly get a look at Megumi's face. He looked close to tears, if not already.
Yuji physically stepped back. “...U-Uh.”
"....." Silence fell over the room as they watched him leave, his figure disappearing into the bustling hospital corridor.
But the second he was alone, without a soul in sight, he broke down. Every ounce of pent-up emotion surged forth, manifesting in sobs that wracked his body uncontrollably.
Once that first tear broke free, the rest followed in an unbroken stream. Megumi bent forward as he stood against the hospital walls. Pressing his fist against the solid white wall, he began to tense. Just the pure and utter weight of everything—the loss, the emptiness, that final look in your eyes—all of it crashed down on him like a relentless tidal wave, leaving him shattered and raw, like a corpse with no spirit.
He couldn't cry again. You would never like that…
Whether he liked it or not, time would continue its march forward. It didn't stop—it never could—nor could it go back into the past—as much as Megumi wished it could...
Time after time, the people he loved would disappear. Always.
His parents, Tsumiki being cursed, and now, you. His one and eternal love. And no one could ever replace you—and definitely not that hole now in his heart, left by the loss of you.
Megumi clenched his fists tightly, the pressure enough to draw blood.
"I'm sorry."
But all the apologies in the world could do jackshit. It would never bring you back.
Megumi would never know what kind of being snuffed out your life…. It could've been a cursed spirit whose identity was never found by Jujutsu Tech.
And that angered him to no end. To be so useless, to never find out what creature poisoned and took away the only thing he ever wanted and needed in his life.
He had you, but there was no longer a spark, no sign of that vibrant life you once possessed.
For you were long gone—your body beyond cold.
