What stands in the way? -Both are actually shitass people and neither have the time nor mental state for an actual healthy, romantic relationship. I call this the "in another life" situation. What are their good traits? -At times they can respect each other. There's a mutual, unspoken agreement of "You need me, I need you." And due to that, they can still work affectively while also showing the other that they're there for them. That's about it outside of that, neither of them are gonna have a talk about what they are and if this is actually healthy or if they're both just infatuated with the other. What makes them hopeless at romance? -Isn't even defined as romance, not to them anyways. Its moreso partnership. Doc has the idea that Hank is replaceable. That whatever may happen, he doesn't ACTUALLY need him. There are plenty of people at his disposal. It just so happens that the local Killing Machine will listen sometimes and is a valuable asset to him. While Hank sees Doc as a tool. Something to get him closer to his goals no matter what, even if its selfish. He knows it is. Hank knows that Doc will continue mending him and piecing him back together. He KNOWS he's valuable but wont be replaced, at least not anytime soon. But that doesn't mean he never questions why Doc does the things he does. Neither of them are gonna ask any time soon.

which i would understand if i hadn't stated multiple times that i am not rejecting any romantic reading at all whatsoever, so i don't know why people act like i am, especially when i retweet ship fan art occasionally like why is this so serious to some people help

but to spell it out, i do not enjoy throwing bakugo and deku into silly ship scenarios as easily as i do in other constellations because their canon relationship is more complex and my opinions on their dynamic are more nuanced and deeper than my opinions on their friendships with other characters. the implications of 17yo bakugo asking deku out on a date differ from the implications of someone like rody asking deku on a date and i don't rlly feel like ignoring that.

i do think that deku had a crush on bakugo as a kid and he does carry some of that into their teenage years and makes everything more complicated like i am not denying that, which is why im confused by people who accuse me of having a double standard when my own interpretation and fan art more often than not hinges on this assumption. just because i don't see bakugo recognize or reciprotate any of that does not mean they can't have that one day, throwing them into that as teens just goes against the reading that i'm very commited like it's not that easy (the love thing), or i wouldn't want it to be that easy it doesn't feel right to me

my advisor actually called my presentation "immaculate"

answered every question to the point we had off-the-books (not for corrections, but for curiosity) discussion

holy fucking shit i was standing for three hours straight (1 h 50 m non-stop verm infodump lmao, then 1 h of closed questioning, and then another 10-20 m of committee deliberation)

(to put into scope: defense presentations should aim to be 60-75 mins at most and 15 min questions)

(everyone agreed it actually needed the whole time bc of the sheer scale of the work)

the committee all agreed that the work is a very big contribution w immense practicality to the field
