Hulk
The Hulk is a fictional superhero appearing in publications by the American publisher Marvel Comics. Created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby, the character first appeared in the debut issue of The Incredible Hulk (May 1962). In his comic book appearances, the character is both the Hulk, a green-skinned, hulking and muscular humanoid possessing a vast degree of physical strength, and his alter ego Dr. Robert Bruce Banner, a physically weak, socially withdrawn, and emotionally reserved physicist. The two exist as independent dissociative personalities, and resent each other.
Following his accidental exposure to gamma rays saving the life of Rick Jones during the detonation of an experimental bomb, Banner is physically transformed into the Hulk when subjected to emotional stress, at or against his will, often leading to destructive rampages and conflicts that complicate Banner's civilian life. The Hulk's level of strength is normally conveyed as proportionate to his level of anger. Commonly portrayed as a raging savage, the Hulk has been represented with other personalities based on Banner's fractured psyche, from a mindless, destructive force, to a brilliant warrior, or genius scientist in his own right. Despite both Hulk and Banner's desire for solitude, the character has a large supporting cast. This includes Banner's lover Betty Ross, his best friend Rick Jones, his cousin She-Hulk, and therapist and ally Doc Samson. In addition, the Hulk alter ego has many key supporting characters like his co-founders of the superhero team the Avengers, his queen Caiera, fellow warriors Korg and Miek, and sons Skaar and Hiro-Kala. However, his uncontrollable power has brought him into conflict with his fellow heroes and others. Despite this he tries his best to do what's right while battling villains such as Leader, Abomination, Absorbing Man and more.
Lee stated that the Hulk's creation was inspired by a combination of Frankenstein and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Although the Hulk's coloration has varied throughout the character's publication history, the most usual color is green.
One of the most iconic characters in popular culture, the character has appeared on a variety of merchandise, such as clothing and collectable items, inspired real-world structures (such as theme park attractions), and been referenced in a number of media. Banner and the Hulk have been adapted in live-action, animated, and video game incarnations. The character was first played in a live-action feature film by Eric Bana. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the character was portrayed by Edward Norton in the film The Incredible Hulk (2008) and by Mark Ruffalo in the films The Avengers (2012), Iron Man 3 (2013) in a cameo, Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Thor: Ragnarok (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Captain Marvel (2019) in a cameo, and Avengers: Endgame (2019). Ruffalo will reprise the role in the upcoming Disney+ series What If...? (2021) and She-Hulk (2022).
> Personality
Bruce Banner During his decades of publication, Banner has been portrayed differently, but common themes persist. Banner, a physicist, is sarcastic and seemingly very self-assured when he first appears in Incredible Hulk #1, but is also emotionally withdrawn. Banner designed the gamma bomb which caused his affliction, and the ironic twist of his self-inflicted fate has been one of the most persistent common themes. Arie Kaplan describes the character thus: "Robert Bruce Banner lives in a constant state of panic, always wary that the monster inside him will erupt, and therefore he can't form meaningful bonds with anyone." As a child, Banner's father Brian often got mad and physically abused both Banner and his mother, creating the psychological complex of fear, anger, and the fear of anger and the destruction it can cause that underlies the character. Banner has been shown to be emotionally repressed, but capable of deep love for Betty Ross, and for solving problems posed to him. Under the writing of Paul Jenkins, Banner was shown to be a capable fugitive, applying deductive reasoning and observation to figure out the events transpiring around him. On the occasions that Banner has controlled the Hulk's body, he has applied principles of physics to problems and challenges and used deductive reasoning. It was shown after his ability to turn into the Hulk was taken away by the Red Hulk that Banner has been extremely versatile as well as cunning when dealing with the many situations that followed. When he was briefly separated from the Hulk by Doom, Banner became criminally insane, driven by his desire to regain the power of the Hulk, but once the two recombined he came to accept that he was a better person with the Hulk to provide something for him to focus on controlling rather than allowing his intellect to run without restraint against the world.
Hulk The original Hulk was shown as grey and average in intelligence who roamed aimlessly and became annoyed at "puny" humans who took him for a dangerous monster. Shortly after becoming the Hulk, his transformation continued turning him green, coinciding with him beginning to display primitive speech, and by Incredible Hulk #4 radiation treatments gave Banner's mind complete control of the Hulk's body. While Banner relished his indestructibility and power, he was quick to anger and more aggressive in his Hulk form, and, while he became known as a hero alongside the Avengers, his increasing paranoia caused him to leave the group, believing he would never be trusted.
Originally, the Hulk was shown as simple minded and quick to anger. The Hulk generally divorces his identity from Banner's, decrying Banner as "puny Banner." From his earliest stories, the Hulk has been concerned with finding sanctuary and quiet and often is shown reacting emotionally to situations quickly. Grest and Weinberg call Hulk the "dark, primordial side of Banner's psyche." Even in the earliest appearances, Hulk spoke in the third person. Hulk retains a modest intelligence, thinking and talking in full sentences, and Lee even gives the Hulk expository dialogue in issue six, allowing readers to learn just what capabilities Hulk has, when the Hulk says, "But these muscles ain't just for show! All I gotta do is spring up and just keep goin'!" In the 1970s, Hulk was shown as more prone to anger and rage, and less talkative. Writers played with the nature of his transformations, briefly giving Banner control over the change, and the ability to maintain control of his Hulk form. Artistically and conceptually, the character has become progressively more muscular and powerful in the years since his debut.
Originally, Stan Lee wanted the Hulk to be grey, but, due to ink problems, Hulk's color was changed to green. This was later changed in the story to indicate that the Grey Hulk and the Savage Hulk are separate personalities or entities fighting for control in Bruce's subconscious. The Grey Hulk incarnation can do the more unscrupulous things that Banner could not bring himself to do, with many sources comparing the Grey Hulk to the moody teenager that Banner never allowed himself to be. While the Grey Hulk still had the "madder he gets, the stronger he gets" part that is similar to the Savage Hulk, it is on a much slower rate. It is said by Leader that the Grey Hulk is stronger on nights of the new moon and weaker on nights of the full moon. Originally, the night is when Bruce Banner becomes the Grey Hulk and changes back by dawn. In later comics, willpower or stress would have Banner turn into the Grey Hulk. During one storyline where he was placed under a spell to prevent him turning back into Bruce Banner and publicly presumed dead when he was teleported away from a gamma bomb explosion that destroyed an entire town, the Grey Hulk adopted a specific name as Joe Fixit, a security guard for a Las Vegas casino owner, with the Grey Hulk often being referred to as Joe after these events.
The Gravage Hulk is the result of Banner using the Gamma Projector on himself which merged his Savage Hulk and Grey Hulk personas. This form possesses the raw power of the Savage Hulk and the cunning intellect of the Grey Hulk. While he doesn't draw on anger to empower him, the Gravage Hulk persona draws on dimensional nexus energies to increase his strength.
The Dark Hulk persona is the result of Hulk being possessed by Shanzar. This form has black skin and is viciously strong.
The Guilt Hulk is a malevolent representation of Banner's abusive father, Brian Banner, that manifests itself in Banner's childhood memories.
The Devil Hulk or Immortal Hulk is the result of Hulk needing a father figure. While the character's physical appearance varies, he is always depicted as having glowing red eyes, and reptilian traits. The new form of Devil Hulk is the result of Banner and Hulk having been through different deaths and rebirths. This incarnation is articulate, smart, and cunning, and does merciless attacks on those who do harm. Unlike the other Hulk incarnations, Devil Hulk is content with waiting inside Bruce. If Bruce is injured by sunset, the Devil Hulk will emerge with his transformation being limited to night-time. Thanks to the Devil Hulk side and Banner working together, Devil Hulk can maintain his form in sunlight.
The Green Scar persona is unleashed on Sakaar and is an enraged version of Gravage Hulk. In addition, he is an expert in armed combat like the use of swords and shields. Green Scar is also a capable leader and an expert strategist.
Doc Green is a variation of the Merged Hulk persona that is the result of Extremis fixing Hulk's brain. This persona is powerful enough to destroy Tony Stark's mansion with one thunderclap.
> Powers and Abilities
Banner is considered one of the greatest scientific minds on Earth, possessing "a mind so brilliant it cannot be measured on any known intelligence test." Norman Osborn estimates that he is the fourth most-intelligent person on Earth. Banner holds expertise in biology, chemistry, engineering, medicine, physiology, and nuclear physics. Using this knowledge, he creates advanced technology dubbed "Bannertech", which is on par with technological development from Tony Stark or Doctor Doom. Some of these technologies include a force field that can protect him from the attacks of Hulk-level entities, and a teleporter.
The Hulk possesses the potential for seemingly limitless physical strength which is influenced by his emotional state, particularly his anger. This has been reflected in the repeated comment, "The madder Hulk gets, the stronger Hulk gets." The cosmically-powerful entity known as the Beyonder once analyzed the Hulk's physiology, and claimed that the Hulk's potential strength had "no finite element inside." Hulk's strength has been depicted as sometimes limited by Banner's subconscious influence; when Jean Grey psionically "shut Banner off", Hulk became strong enough to overpower and destroy the physical form of the villain Onslaught. Writer Greg Pak described the Worldbreaker Hulk shown during World War Hulk as having a level of physical power where "Hulk was stronger than any mortal—and most immortals—who ever walked the Earth", and depicted the character as powerful enough to completely destroy entire planets. His strength allows him to leap into lower Earth orbit or across continents, and he has displayed superhuman speed. Exposure to radiation has also been shown to make the Hulk stronger. It is unknown how he gains biomass during transformation but it may be linked to One-Below-All.
His durability, regeneration, and endurance also increase in proportion to his temper. Hulk is resistant to injury or damage, though the degree to which varies between interpretations, but he has withstood the equivalent of solar temperatures, nuclear explosions, and planet-shattering impacts. Despite his remarkable resiliency, continuous barrages of high-caliber gunfire can hinder his movement to some degree while he can be temporarily subdued by intense attacks with chemical weapons such as anesthetic gases, although any interruption of such dosages will allow him to quickly recover. He has been shown to have both regenerative and adaptive healing abilities, including growing tissues to allow him to breathe underwater, surviving unprotected in space for extended periods, and when injured, healing from most wounds within seconds, including, on one occasion, the complete destruction of most of his body mass. His future self, "Maestro", was even eventually able to recover from being blown to pieces. As an effect, he has an extremely prolonged lifespan.
He also possesses less commonly described powers, including abilities allowing him to "home in" to his place of origin in New Mexico; resist psychic control, or unwilling transformation; grow stronger from radiation or dark magic; punch his way between separate temporal or spatial dimensions; and to see and interact with astral forms. Some of these abilities were in later years explained as being related; his ability to home in on the New Mexico bomb site was due to his latent ability to sense astral forms and spirits, since the bomb site was also the place where the Maestro's skeleton was and Maestro's spirit was calling out to him in order to absorb his radiation.
In the first Hulk comic series, "massive" doses of gamma rays would cause the Hulk to transform back to Banner, although this ability was written out of the character by the 1970s.

Funny Moments In Thor Ragnarök
Thor 1
Thor 2
Avengers 1
I know I said I was gonna do Avengers Age of Ultron too, but because it didn’t have Loki in it, I decided to scrap that idea because this series is mostly focused on the relationship between Loki and Thor. So without further ado, all the funny moments in Thor Ragnarök. Side note: This accounts for all the moments were SUPPOSED to be funny. However these are mostly toilet humor, so whether or not it was actually funny to the viewer just depends on that person’s taste in humor. Funny moments listed below cut line which is underneath the tag list.
Edit for clarification: This is not a post supporting Thor Ragnarok. This is an anti post. In another post (that I’m too lazy to write right now) I will be explaining the difference in humor tones between this movie and the previous three. I will also be explaining why this tonal change is hated by anti Ragnarok people.

Was thinkin’ bout my comfort movie: Thor Ragnarok last night...
“About time you came back.”
Thor’s weary gaze studied the woman sitting at the kitchen table, dressed in a sleek black silk robe that wasn’t very suitable in the cold New Asgard weather. Her long black hair was braided loosely and that braid swung over her shoulder as her intense gaze met his tired one. One hand embraced a Thor mug (he still didn’t recall telling Stark that he could manufacture those but he did get a check that accumulated enough money to purchase a fishing village for his people so…) while the other strummed neatly painted black nails against a local newspaper.
He glanced around the rest of his home in confusion, noticing that his house was redecorated and clean.
Korg and Meik were still on the couch playing video games though.
“Hey Thor,” Korg greeted.
He gave them an awkward nod before looking at his sister again, “I’m sorry...didn’t I kill you?” He asked in confusion.
“No, I believe that was Surtur,” Hela replied curtly, “And, as you can see,” She gestured to herself, “It didn’t stick.”
Thor looked at her, and then at Brun and back at Hela again. And then at Brun. “And you didn’t try to kill her again?” He asked
The former Valkyrie shrugged, “She’s pretty harmless now,” She replied. “No fun in killing someone who can’t exactly fight back.”
“Harm-” He looked at his sister, “Harmless?”
“Asgard is gone,” Hela replied, “I can revive small entities from the dead. Raised a chicken last week for the fun of it.”
“It was beheaded and you scared children with it,” Brun reminded.
“That was the fun of it.”
Brunhilde pursed her lips as she narrowed her gaze at Hela before giving Thor a hearty slap on the back, “She’s all yours now that you’re back.” She declared before pointing at him before he could protest. “Your King commands it.”
Thor sputtered as she made her way out of his home and he spun to stare at his sister again, watching her sip coffee from his mug in his spot in his house.
“I rather like her as ruler of Asgard,” Hela commented idly, “Doing a better job than you would’ve.”
“You need to leave.” Thor told her sternly.
Hela rolled her eyes, standing up and taking her mug to wash out in the sink, “Come now, brother, is that any way to speak to your last surviving relative?” She turned slowly to look at him, an almost remorseful expression on her face, “The Valkyrie told me about Loki. It should have been me.”
“To die?” Thor asked incredulously.
“What? No. To kill him.”
“Okay, you absolutely have to leave,” Thor decided.
“And go where?” Hela asked.
“I don’t care. You just can’t stay here.”
She drew herself up to her full height, squaring her shoulders and lifting her chin. Her eyes were bright with a simmering fury that he was too tired to try and fight right now. “And go where, brother?” She demanded, “Is this going to be a habit? I come home, try to make things nicer,” She gestured vaguely to the fact that the shelving wasn’t cluttered and Korg and Meik were sitting on a more comfortable looking couch, “And then you try to kick me out? What would Father say?”
“Father wanted me to defeat you before,” He reminded.
“What would Mother say, then?”
“Loki was Mother’s favorite,” Thor replied bitterly.
Hela clicked her tongue, “I thought the middle child was supposed to be the unloved one,” She replied, matching his bitterness and leaning against the counter.
“I was expecting an empty house when I returned,” Thor told her quietly. “I want to be alone.”
“Why? Loki died how long ago? Your two friends over there told me you dealt with that already,” She eyed him with scrutiny, “They told me you got fat and lazy. What? You lose your power too?” When he didn’t say anything, she pushed herself off the counter, cocking her head to the side as she approached him. “You lost your power,” She accused.
“Did not,” He mumbled and didn’t fight when she clutched his jaw with much less malice than the last time she did it, “I just...lent it to someone.”
“Who?” Hela demanded, forcing him to look at her.
“....My ex.”
She stared at him for a painfully long moment before breaking out into laughter and letting go, “God, you’re an idiot. I’m taking a bath,” She walked away and through the living room with the authority she held when she was raising armies of the dead, giving Korg and Miek a single glance along the way, “Make sure your chores are done or I’m taking your toys again.” She ordered.
“Right,” Korg replied, “Chores. Right after this round,” He glanced up at Thor once she was gone, “Mind helping us out?”

We Don’t Have To Be Ordinary
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: language, depression, mention of suicide attempt
Characters: Loki Odinson, Thor Odinson
Mentioned: Odin Borson, Brunnhilde, Bruce Banner, Korg, Miek, Heimdall, Tony Stark, the Other, Thanos, Ebony Maw, Cull Obsidian, Corvus Glaive, Proxima Midnight, Frigga, Malekith, Jane Foster, Amora, the Lurking Unknown, Hela Odindottir
Loki had become accustomed to his new life. New Asgard was different. Not that he minded. He had always loved Asgard, but the place had become more of a prison than home to him since his spiral years ago. He never truly felt safe there after his mistake, and he enjoyed the new start. And as much as he acted as if he hated Midgardians, he enjoyed Midgard. Earth.
For one, Norway was cooler than Asgard. It was more suitable for him, and he didn’t constantly feel too warm like he often did in his old home. It made it easier for him to help with the building process, and he was comfortable most nights with only a window open, a gentle night breeze rustling the curtains and pulling him into a deep sleep.
Then there was the laxity of the place. Of course it could be more the fact that it was Thor who was king now rather than Odin, but he didn’t constantly feel trapped by his duties. Sure, he still had to help out. He was still a prince, although he had questioned his brother if he truly deserved the title now, and he had to make appearances. But on a normal day, he could just relax. He didn’t have to worry about dressing up or donning his armor. Even if he was simply walking the streets, no one was bothered by the more casual attire he preferred. Thor often did the same, so it didn’t really matter all that much.
For a long time, he would join Thor for dinner along with Brunnhilde and Bruce. Sometimes Sif or Korg and Miek would join them as well. Even Heimdall had sat at the table with them on occasion. It was lighthearted. One might even call it fun.
Every night, Thor would invite Loki to stay with him. He had originally intended for his brother to live with him permanently, adding a room furnished for him when it was built, but Loki insisted he would be fine on his own. Occasionally he did accept the request. He always said it was because he was too tired to walk home and told himself it was to please his brother since he went through the trouble of building the room for him, but sometimes he just felt safer knowing that Thor was in the next room.
The Asgardians has been lucky, really. When they had come to Midgard, Bruce had gotten in contact with Tony. He had agreed to help fund the building of the city; both buying supplies and hiring workers to help get the job done faster. He even helped get in touch with the Norway government to make sure everything was completed legally. They hadn’t had any trouble, and every Asgardian knew Norwegian; though it was a bit difficult because of how the language had developed over the years from the ancient Norse that they were taught in school.
What surprised Loki was that no one objected to him being on Earth. Many of the Midgardians he had spoken to knew who he was, and some had been a bit timid, but no one had showed up in an effort to take him away. He was glad, additionally, that no sparkling portals had opened up under his feet again so the sorcerer either didn’t know he was there or had come to his senses. Even the remaining Avengers — they had learned from Tony that the team had split in the past year — knew he was there and had made no efforts to take him into custody under SHIELD.
Overall, Loki thought, things were great. He thought that his life was finally starting to turn around. That was, until the city was completed.
It was a slow change. At first there were still a lot of duties. Loki didn’t kind, really. They were different than the duties he had grown up preparing for, and much less boring. He just had more time on his hands now, often having a chance to sleep in of the morning or sit by the window and read. He didn’t have many books yet, but he was sure that his collection would grow to fill his private library that he had built for himself.
There were days that being alone became too much. He would start to feel lonely and would find himself wondering the streets. Sometimes he would just listen to the noise of the city and speak to those who passed him. He might even entertain the children of the city with his magic if they asked him to. Other times he would visit Thor (and Bruce, who was staying with him until he left for New York) or even Brunnhilde on occasion.
The dinners started to grow less frequent as the work tapered off. Eventually, Bruce left for New York. Loki hated to admit it, but it hurt watching him leave. They had grown to become friends in the past months, and he knew he would miss him. He promised to visit, of course, but it would still take some adjusting.
Over time, Loki didn’t see as much of his friends as he had become used to. He understood, of course. Thor was busier than ever with the duties of being King of Asgard. Brunnhilde was working on a sparring facility and had even mentioned trying to recreate the Valkyries. It was more for the sake of tradition that necessity, but Thor seemed to believe it was a good idea. Loki had plenty to do himself, but his duties were more steady. He never really felt busy, having time to himself nearly every day.
As the days passed, his workload grew lighter. Adjusting to Norway proved to leave room for more leniency, and Loki started having full days to himself. Eventually, he only had to attend a few scheduled events from time to time and take care of scattered legal obligations. He thought that was something he would enjoy, but he was so wrong.
As a child, Loki loved alone time. He spent a lot of time in the library of the palace when he wasn’t busy, or practicing his magic. He preferred solitude over the crowded hallways upstairs. That was before the Fall, however.
It was ironic that he called it the Fall, really. He knew what he was doing that day. He didn’t feel like there was any reason to keep living. Not when his entire life had been a lie. Not after he had tried to kill his own brother. Not after he had made such a huge mistake. He only felt worse when death wouldn’t claim him and he was left to float through darkness for what he later learned would be several months.
It was when his fall ended that he met the Other. The Other, who introduced him to Thanos and the Black Order. At first he had just been glad to not be alone anymore, but that gladness soon faded as the torture began. Because Thanos showed no mercy. He continuously weakened him until his mind was in such a weak state that he couldn’t fight off the power of the Mind Stone.
Even then, there were lapses. He would try to push a way from the mind control. He almost did, at one point. A dazed feeling had came over him during the fight when Thor was speaking to him, telling him to look around at the destruction the Chitauri were causing. He had snapped out of his trance for a moment before it washed over him again, staying in place until the Hulk had smashed him and the blow to his head had knocked him back to reality.
Only for him to go back to being confined to a prison cell. It wasn’t as bad as the Void. At least he had light and saw other beings. Frigga tried to make him comfortable, bringing him books and furniture to make the cell more homely. Still, he knew that he was deteriorating. He had nightmares and flashbacks, sometimes waking up thinking he was in the Void once again before a guard would come into view and he would remember that he was back in Asgard.
Then Malekith killed Frigga. That was Loki’s breaking point. He had known something was wrong. He felt that something was different even before the guard had come to send him the message.
At that point, he went wild. He lost control, destroying his cell. Broken glass scattered across the floor as his lamp shattered. Sharp fragments impaled his feet as he paced, leaving blood on the stone beneath him, but he didn’t care. He welcomed the pain like an old friend.
Despite it all, the one thing he wanted was for someone to visit him. He was alone. He hated being alone. Part of him had thought that Thor would come running as soon as Frigga died, breaking the shield and holding him in the way he had when they were younger. He had hoped that he might be allowed to leave the cell long enough to attend her funeral. But they left him to mourn alone.
When Thor finally came, seeking help to avenge their mother’s death, he saw an opportunity to escape the loneliness. He knew enough magic that faking his death was easy. Physically, it was simple, but it hurt watching Thor grieve. He thought it was a show at first. He was only pretending to care because Jane was there, perhaps. He learned later that he was wrong. That Thor had been heartbroken. Maybe that’s why he chose to stay with his brother instead of leaving the Asgardians after Ragnarok, but he wasn’t sure.
But as he started to be alone more and more, he started to doubt himself. He worried that Thor only kept him around because they were brothers. He worried that the people only tolerated him because he was a prince. He worried that they wished he weren’t there. He worried more than anything that no one wanted him or cared about him; even Thor.
It was those spiraling thoughts that kept him inside. He started leaving less and less. Some days he would never leave his bed. He wouldn’t eat. Some nights he didn’t get any sleep. Other nights he kept waking up from nightmares. He was a mess.
Loki had been in bed for days when he heard a knock on his door. At first he had just rolled over, burying his face in his pillow and hoping whoever it was would leave. Then the knock came again. He sighed and pushed himself out of bed and twisted the doorknob open. He squinted a bit at the light, glancing up to see that it was Thor standing in front of him.
“Loki?”
“Hey,” he replied simply, moving a bit so Thor can come in.
“Are you alright?” Thor asked as Loki closed the door behind him. The two moved towards the couch, sitting down near the edge. “I haven’t heard from you in days.”
Loki blinked up at him, surprised by the amount of concern in his tone. His eye seemed to sparkle with worry as he looked him over, and when Loki glanced over his shoulder at the mirror on his wall he realized he looked awful. He stared for a moment before quickly changing his appearance. “I’m fine,” he told him, turning back. “I just hadn’t got out of bed yet is all.”
“It’s nearly nightfall, Loki,” Thor pressed. “You couldn’t possibly have been in bed all day.”
“So what if I have?” Loki asked, raising his voice a bit as he stood up. He hoped that his brother couldn’t see how tense he was as he started to walk around, making himself busy straightening the few trinkets he had on his shelves. He could feel Thor watching him, but tried to ignore him.
“You missed the dinner,” Thor prompted, causing Loki to freeze. He searched his mind and then moved to the calendar on his desk, making a fist and slamming down on it as he saw the scribbled note.
“Sh*t,” he muttered. There had been an important dinner the night before. One that was meant to be a sort of memorium for his mother. One that he hadn’t wanted to miss. He felt himself falling into the seat at the desk, bringing his hands up to grip his hair as he fought the overwhelming emotions that washed over him at the realization. He could cry later, right now he had to put on a brave face.
“Hey,” Loki was surprised by the softness in Thor’s voice. It was a tone he rarely used. One that he couldn’t remember his brother ever using on anyone other than him. One he hadn’t used in so many years that it made his throat feel tight. He felt a hand on his knee and glanced down to see his brother crouching in front of him. “No one is upset with you for missing it. We’re only worried about you.”
“I’m fine,” Loki told him sharply, bringing his knee up to throw Thor’s hand off. His brother only moved it to his shoulder then, rubbing a thumb over the thin fabric of his shirt. “Thor.”
“I know you, Brother,” Thor said, an air of certainty in his voice. “You are definitely not fine.”
“Why do you even care?!” Loki asked, standing up and pushing his brother away before walking towards the mirror. He didn’t look at it, instead keeping his gaze fixed on the floor. “I’m a f*cking monster, Thor. You shouldn’t even. . . I’m not even your brother.”
It happened before Loki even realized. He summoned energy using his magic and blasted it at the mirror, shattering it into crystals. He froze at the sound, a flashback taking over. Him and Amora in Odin’s vault. A crystal striking the Tuning Fork and summoning the Lurking Unknown. The creature feeding off his fear.
He was pulled out of it as Thor rested a hand on his shoulder. He realized that he was on his knees now, glass cutting through his clothes in several places. He breathed heavily as Thor carefully started to pull them out. “You are my brother, Loki,” he said gently. “You will never be anything but that.”
Loki felt his chest burning as he stared at the broken mirror. He felt his disguise falling, his appearance becoming frazzled. “I should have been arrested,” he breathed.
“Hm?” Thor prompted, putting a hand on Loki’s cheek to force his brother to turn towards him.
“The Godseye Mirror,” he explained, his breathing growing more rapid. “I broke it.”
“Amora broke it,” Thor told him.
“No,” Loki pressed. “She-she couldn’t summon enough energy. I-I put my hands on it and it shattered. She took the blame because she saw how terrified Odin became of me. She took my punishment. I-it should have been me.”
“Loki.”
“I fulfilled the prophecy.”
“Loki, look at me,” Thor said sternly. Loki blinked up at him in response, falling silent as he searched his brother’s eye. He could see nothing there but concern and sincerity. “Did you see the vision in the Godseye Mirror before it broke?”
Loki shook his head. “But we know what he saw. He saw me at Ragnarok.”
“Did he?” Thor prompted, leaning back. “Think about it. . . No one knew about Hela at that point. What if. . . What if he saw her and had to say it was one of his sons so that he didn’t reveal her. Or maybe. . . You two look alike. Maybe he was confused. Maybe the vision wasn’t clear and he saw the black hair and just assumed. We don’t know that he saw you, and even if he did, it wasn’t true.”
“The way he looked at us. . .”
“Loki, what he saw in the vision was a warrior leading the army of the dead,” Thor said. “You didn’t do that, Hela did.”
Loki blinked a few times, searching his memory for that day centuries ago. What Thor said made sense. The pieces didn’t fall perfectly into place.
“And, I mean,” Thor started, catching his attention. “The Godseye Mirror warned Father of the war with Jotunheim. . . Without it, we would have never had you. Surely it wouldn’t have warned us of the war if you were not meant to be here.”
Loki was silent as Thor continued pulling fragments of glass from his skin. When he was finished and Loki hadn’t replied, the elder brother helped him to stand and led him to the bathroom, sitting him down on a stool. “I’m going to go get a bowl and some clean clothes,” he said gently. “I’ll be right back.”
Loki shook his head and grabbed Thor’s wrist, looking up him. Thor looked back down with a worried expression. “Something’s wrong with me,” he choked out, feeling his strained facade breaking. “What’s wrong with me?”
“Nothing is wrong with me you, Loki,” Thor said softly, crouching in front of him and taking his hands. Loki forced himself to look him in the eye despite the tears he could feel brimming in his own. “You’re not okay right now, and there’s nothing wrong with that. There is nothing wrong with you.”
“When I fell. . . Let go. . .”
“I know, Loki,” Thor said sincerely, squeezing his hands. “I don’t think I realized it until I met the others in New York. . . But I know that you were hurting. I shouldn’t have let it get that far.”
“It’s not your fault,” Loki told him, his voice breaking.
“And it’s not yours,” Thor assured him. He hesitated for a moment. “Is it okay if I hug you?”
Loki hesitated for a moment, looking down at his bleeding arms and torso. “I’ll get blood on you,” he murmured.
“I don’t mind,” Thor said with a small smile before gently raising up and wrapping around Loki’s smaller frame. Loki tensed at first, then melted into the embrace, loosely wrapping his arms around Thor. He pressed his face into his brother’s shoulder, squinting his eyes shut to fight against the tears that were flowing down his cheeks now.
“Thank you,” he breathed out, feeling Thor squeeze him a bit at the words. “I love you. I-I never stopped. I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay,” Thor whispered. “I know. I love you too.”
Loki felt a small weight lifting off his shoulders. Because even after everything that he had done. After trying to kill Thor years ago. After New York. After faking his death. After Sakaar. After Ragnarok. After all of that, Thor still loved him. He still claimed him as his brother after knowing that they shared no blood.
Thor carefully pulled away, his hands lingering on Loki’s shoulders. “We’re going to get you cleaned up,” he started. “Then we’re going to go home. I don’t want you to be alone right now.”
“The mirror. . .”
“I can send a guard to clean it up later,” Thor promised. “Will you be okay alone for a minute?”
Loki nodded in response, watching as Thor left the room. He sighed, lowering his head and taking a shaky breath. For a moment, his mind flickered back to the night Amora had been arrested. He sat in his mother’s chambers after the fight with the Lurking Unknown, his knees pressed to his chest as she prepared a spell to heal his bruised ribs.
He had raised his voice at her that night. He had pressed her to tell him the truth, only admitting that he and Thor had been eavesdropping on her and Odin in the process. He had begged her to teach him how to use his magic that night, and she told him that she would. It was the first time he ever remembered her going against her husband’s wishes, and she did it for him. He had asked her that night what would happen to him.
“Patience, my son.”
Her words echoed in his mind almost as if she were there saying it now. A small warmth grew in his chest he felt a faint smile touching his lips. He hated that he missed the dinner in her honor, but he had a feeling that she wouldn’t be upset with him. Not when he thought of her so often. He knew that she was well aware he hadn’t meant it when he said she wasn’t his mother. That didn’t mean he didn’t regret it, but it helped. It helped knowing that she never stopped loving him as her son. That she raised him as her own even knowing the ice that run through his veins. That she believed in him when his father didn’t.
Loki was far from okay. He wasn’t sure he would feel better anytime soon with the darkness that seemed to follow him recently. But he knew that Thor would be there for him. He wouldn’t fight this alone, and in time he would heal. He just had to be patient and all would be well in the future. The sun would shine on him again.

THOR

I’d rather be a good man than a great king.
Canon compliant through the end of Ragnarok. Timelinewise, anyways. Not personality wise. Super-duper headcanon based.
KORG (and Miek)
MCU
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Korg. I'm kind of like the leader in here. I'm made of rocks, as you can see, but don't let that intimidate you. You don't need to be afraid, unless you're made of scissors! Just a little Rock, Paper, Scissors joke for you.
Korg. He’s made of rocks. His friend is Miek. He’s like a bug with knives for hands.
MISS (EMILY) SMITH

Former necromancer, formerly dead, current witch. Mostly exclusively for infamouscabal.

VARRIC TETHRAS
Dragon Age: Inquisition (also DAII but I have ONLY played Inq)
Well, shit.
Dwarf, rogue, successful writer in several different genres. Depending on verse, possible Viscount of Kirkwall. Never shuts up. In a committed relationship with his crossbow, Bianca-- the name of which is the only story he’ll never tell. (My personal favorite)
THE IRON BULL
Dragon Age: Inquisition
It’s THE Iron Bull, technically. I like having an article at the front. It makes it sound like I’m not even a person, just a mindless weapon; an implement of destruction. That REALLY works for me.
Possibly former spy. Maybe still a spy? (depends on timelines and crossovers and whatever aus) Big horny Horned Qunari Mercenary. Likes hitting things, drinking, fucking. Also, Bull said TRANS RIGHTS and he luvs his trans lieutenant.
You may ride the Bull.
A long indepth crash course for those who are interested in The Iron Bull but don’t want to/haven’t played DAI
SOLAS/FEN’HAREL
Dragon Age: Inquisition
How small the pain of one man seems when weighed against the endless depths of memory, of feeling, of existence. That ocean carries everyone. And those of us who learn to see its currents move through life with fewer ripples.
Egg. Betrayer. Traitor. May the Dread Wolf Take You
(I don’t particularly like Solas, but I find him super fascinating. Mostly looking to interact with femme Lavellan Inquisitors, but I’m willing to try other DA:I muses, too. He’s really the only one I’m not interested in crossing over to other verses)
BLACKWALL
Dragon Age: Inquisition
'You are who you choose to follow.' Someone told me that once. Took me years to understand what he meant.
Grey Warden? Murderer? Liar? Lumberjack dad to younger queer elvhen folk?
Solemn and moody but also prone to childish jokes; Blackwall holds his secrets tight to the chest, but once someone gets past his initial prickliness and dedication to duty, he relaxes in a way first impressions would not allow anyone to expect.
(There is cowardice stewing inside of himself, warring with guilt and a deep, abiding sense of duty and loyalty -- haha, I said duty)
MARIAN HAWKE
Dragon Age II, Dragon Age: Inquisiton
Don't worry. Helping people and killing people are what I'm best at.
AFAB Nonbinary. Purple/sarcastic or humorous personality. The Champion of Kirkwall; complains a lot, but will do what needs to be done for the best of everyone. But what’s left of themselves at the end of it all?
I don’t really know if I’ll actually roleplay Hawke (I mean I will if someone is interested in interacting with them! I just don’t intend to initiate things with them), so much as I just plan on writing unprompted drabbles because I have a lot of Hawke feelings and nothing else to do with them.
Generally, I play Hawke as a warrior with Bethany in the Circle, but I’m willing to adjust for anything and I know the preferred/canon is Hawke as a mage with Carver as a Warden.
Cremisius “Krem” Aclassi
Dragon Age: Inquisition
Horns Up!
Lieutenant of Bull’s Chargers. Formerly of a Tevinter tailoring family, Krem went into the military to avoid slavery and bribed the physician to keep his status as a trans man a secret. He got away with it for several years before being outted and running. He was almost caught when the Iron Bull found him, rescued him, and offered him a job with the Bull’s Chargers.
Krem was actually the one to suggest the Chargers work for the Inquisition.

I was going to attempt an answer to this post wondering why the Russos’ attempt to recreate Taika’s dialogue style in Ragnarok in Endgame didn’t work, but it turned into an endgame rant in general, so here we are. I’ve only seen the movie once, so I don’t remember a lot of details.
Taika Waititi took everything that had defined Thor and turned it on its head (both to Thor for character development within the movie and to the audience for development in contrast to his portrayal in previous movies). Maybe the Russos aimed to do the same thing with making Thor fat--he’s not the god of obscenely defined muscles either. But they didn’t achieve a similar result because they made fat Thor a caricature for the audience to laugh at instead of showing that Thor’s position as a hero and avenger is not defined by his physique.
Thor’s speech to Valkyrie when she refuses to join him on his mission to save Asgard cuts to the core of Thor’s view of himself as a hero:
“Go ahead. Stay here and enslave people for that lunatic. Keep drinking, keep hiding. But me, I choose to run toward my problems, and not away from them. Because that’s what heroes do.”
Even failing to use the ball to break the window alludes to Thor’s direct method of addressing problems. The indirect approach didn’t work, so he literally threw himself at the problem.
In Infinity War, Thor faced Thanos head-on (pun not intended), and it wasn’t enough. He assumed that he didn’t have anything more to lose than his own life, until he failed the opportunity to avenge Heimdall’s death. AND HE’S A FREAKING AVENGER. Even though Thor succeeded in slicing Thanos’ head off in the beginning of Endgame, there was no satisfaction since it didn’t matter whether Thanos lived.
So the downward spiral into alcoholism and isolation makes sense. It provides the directors with the opportunity to show how these heroes cope with extreme loss and manage to get back up to fight. By treating Thor’s weight as a punchline, the Russos essentially used Thor’s coping mechanism to mitigate the emotional impact of his trauma for the audience.
The scene where Thor yells at a kid playing Fortnite with Miek and Korg in Taika’s pineapple shirt could be straight out of Team Thor. Instead, it reads as a cheap laugh to break the tension. We are reminded throughout the movie that everyone lost someone, everyone blames themselves, but these reminders are used to shut down instead of unpack.
Anyway, the Russos killed everyone Thor loves in front of him, ruined his revenge, and then poked fun while he dealt with the aftermath ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Warning! I've Watched The Movie!Endgame Spoilers ahead!!
I'm putting This warning because some of ya'll are mean saying "If you leak spoilers you deserve no rights!" F off!! If you read these spoilers and then get mad you deserve no rights!!!
Endgame review and rant starts from here.... Don't mind it starts out as a rant....
You would think!!!...
reading Endgame spoilers, writing Endgame essays and then watching the movie, would lessen the shock factor. Nah! You wrong af!....I watched the cam version of the movie today and when I saw Thor i was like..
And the worse! thing is he ain't fat because he was depressed. NO! He is fat because The Russos! wanted him to be funny! That was the only purpose for Chubby Thor!
Even in that video i could hear the audience laughing!!!! The little kids found it hilarious and i was sitting here at home and crying!!!!
You could see Thor's pain and anger when Banner said Thanos name but...
The Camera focused on his belly so much like "LOOK AT IT ITS FUNNY!!"
and I'm in floods of tears going "😭😭😭😭😭 NO it's not!!! Leave me alone please! 😭😭😭" It was painful!!! How could that they do this to him!
And he gives a little speech that he's fine and that he has no wish to be involved in helping the Avengers and he tells Rocket and Prof. Hulk to leave...but then Rocket says "there's beer on the ship" and Thor ups and goes with them????? Huuuuuuhhhhh!??????
And then for most of the movie the focus is on his beer belly and making him sound like an idiot!!!
Should Thor be depressed? of course!!! After everything he's gone through of course!! Should he gain weight being depressed? Yes! I GAIN WEIGHT WHEN I'M DEPRESSED!!! Being depressed and using junk food, alcohol, playing games all day will have this effect on you. But is him gaining weight!!! Something to laugh at??? NO!!!!
And Valkyrie???? In Ragnarok she went through the same situation Thor is in now. She was depressed and drowned her sadness in Alcohol. And then Thor came along and gave her her purpose back. Made her realise she can do so much more than wasting away on the Trash Planet.
And now Thor is in the same situation as her and...what? Valkyrie has been helping the Asgardians settle in Tonnsberg while Thor was drinking and eating junk food and worried about cable!!
But you know what Thor was never a dumbass!!! After what happened in the first Thor movie he was everything a good king would be. The reason he didn't want the Throne of Asgard on TDW was because he felt he could protect the nine realms better when he's not sitting on the Throne of Asgard. But when peace reigns he will gladly take care of his people.
What was all that character development in Thor 2011 and Thor: The Dark World and even in shitty Ragnarok all about?!!!! Actually i blame partly Ragnarok for Thor ending up.like this. Ragnarok was what started Thor as a comical character. The Russo just went "Its free real estate" and renovated on it and gave us Chubby Thor who couldn't even speak a complete sentence properly.
And that's not even it, what bothers me is that in the 5 years no one was helping Thor get better. Korg and Meik were pretty much enablers. Looking at things Valkyrie most probably tried to talk to him but he didn't bother to listen. And after a while she let him be hoping he comes out of his grief on his own. But, You know what pre Ragnarok Thor would listen to her. Pre Ragnarok Thor would not hide away and pretend nothing happened! Pre Ragnarok Thor would be grateful that he has people who care about him. He would do his best for the Asgardians he has with him now. Valkyrie and Korg and Miek are his closest people and he has their shoulder to cry on!! Especially Val. She does understand! and the entire time he was shutting himself away from the world, she helps the Asgardians get used to this new place. She also has hopes Thor will heal in time. She hasn't given up hope. I mean when all the Avengers were giving Thor looks of "oh, that is sad", she in the end has confidence in him. The movie never showed her thinking Thor is lesser of a man and king than he was before. She actually hopes for him to finally do right by his people.
What pisses me off is that Thor just goes off onto another adventure leaving Valkyrie with more responsibility than she already has (considering that now the whole human population is back and recovering from the IW events you can guarantee a whole host of problems are going to arise for the Asgardians. Considering how humans are you can bet on that.) The only way I can forgive Thor is if they give us a Thor 4 where he comes back to Earth with the remaining Asgardians (Hulk does say "we can bring them back") and finally decides to do some good for his people. Helps them have a better life, navigating human culture, learning new skills.
The Russos make Thor's grieve look like a joke! LIKE THOR DOESN'T EVEN CARE!!! RESPONSIBILITY??? NOPE THOR DOESN'T KNOW ANY OF THAT! you don't even feel sorry anymore or sympathise with Thor. You just feel ANGRY!! At the Russos and at Thor himself!!
Other things that hurt me...
Tony's death. It hurts just thinking about it! I feel it was unnecessary. There's no need for him to die. The Russos with all their imagination should have given him a happy ending! Natasha's death broke me first! Yeah you're gonna be a weeping mess after this. Steve was...*sigh*!!! It was sad and bittersweet. Did i like that ending for him? Not really 😢
Wanda doesn't get back Vision. Recently Elizabeth Olsen gave hints that the WandaVision series will be set in 1950s. I don't even know how that works out 😐
And Loki!!! You know how we thought he was ooc in Ragnarok? Nah! The Loki we see in Endgames New York 2012 is competing side by side with Ragnarok Loki on who is more ooc . I mean! He actually shape-shifted into Steve to mock him. He waved bye bye at the Hulk!! What??!! And then he just disappears and you're sitting there like "what the hell happen???"
What was good about Endgame?....
The rest of the movie was good. The humour was great when it didn't involve Thor. I'll never get over Scott in ant size sticking his ass out and saying "Flick me" at Tony😂 There were a lot of ass jokes. But it was find. Rocket and Prof. Hulk are my faves.
Thor meeting his mother was very emotional. Since she's a witch she immediately knew he was from the future. She doesn't judge him at all. She's just happy to see him.Their reunion was very sweet. A lot of tears and hugs. 😢In the end Frigga gives him a hug just before he leaves tells him in her sweet motherly voice "eat a salad" 😂😂 The only thing that was irritating here is Thor calling her "mom" 😕
For those who have been asking, there's a reason Thor had to sneak pass Loki 'cause of the time travel thing he can't allow himself to be seen by anyone. And Loki would definitely know this is Thor from the future. That would mess things up a lot.
Thor looked sort of better at the end when he was fighting Thanos. It would seem him summoning his armour, Mjolnier and the lighting also took care of his beard and hair. It's still long but braided 😕 He fought good. He was cool at the end.
Gamora is alive (Gamora from the past entered the 2018 timeline because of Thanos) !! 😄 And Quill is looking for her (He gotta make her fall in love with him all over)
And of course the fighting was epic as is expected. Cap wielding Mjolnier! When everybody showed up through Strange's portal!, Steve's "Avengers Assemble", Tony and Pepper fighting together!!! Wanda!! The Ladies of Marvel!! Captain Marvel!! 10/10(Tbh, Carol does look a little impatient the few times she was in the movie. Like she needed to be somewhere. I guess she has priorities. Other planets to protect. The moment she was sure Earth was safe she was gone.)
Not gonna lie, Endgame is epic and it is brilliant and amazing even with its flaws.
What's interesting is according to the Ancient One, if you move the stones from their proper place in the timeline it would result in a parallel reality being created. And of all the stone only the Space Stone has been moved from its place..by Loki. So that could mean a new alternate reality/universe has been created. And you know what.....That is actually scary. I wonder if the present universe Thor even knows that this other reality even exists where Loki is most probably alive. But even if he knows he wouldn't be able to do anything anyway.
Watching the movie, and seeing everybody fight together side by side, makes me miss Loki. It's like that scene where he takes the Space Stone and vanished sealed his fate somewhat. He's no longer connected to the timeline or universe we know. A new story exists for him. He's completely separated. And He's different now. He's probably still somewhat a villain with no redemption. He was never meant to fight side by side with the Avengers in this universe at least. Who knows how he turns out in the other universe. As matter of fact i wonder how everyone in the other universe turns out.
Looking at things i feel if Loki had been alive after IW, he will never be able to just settle down on Earth. And now Thor is the same too. They will probably just up and leave and travel. 'Cause for Loki especially, he's never going to be able to adjust with humans. The restrictions on him would be huge. I see him as the type who would leave through a hidden portal to other worlds.
I do feel like everybody's story hasn't really ended. Especially for Thor. He calls himself and Quills team as "Asgardians of The Galaxy" and if I'm not wrong there's a comic book of that name. Aside from that he, Quill and the team need to find Gamora and other Asgardians and return to Earth. And there better be a movie for that.

In Defense of Fat Thor
I not only enjoyed Thor’s portrayal in Endgame, but found it to be a productive and well-developed(/acted, DAMN, Chris Hemsworth) characterization that has been steadily building up across each consecutive movie. Caveat: I do not fault anyone for being skeptical that the directors, etc. had it in them, considering the clunky nature of some of their previous creations, to say nothing of some of their interviews, etc. I am also not 100% surprised to see people maligning Fat Thor, and/or saying they don’t understand his trajectory and/or that they felt some of the humor at his expense took away from the legitimacy of having a fat, depressed, anxious character able to accomplish the same feats as when he had more physical prowess, etc. I disagree with this as well, in part because Fat Thor feels very personal to me, though not exclusively, and at the very least would like to propose a reading of many of the scenes in Endgame that offers a considerably more well-intentioned and good faith portrayal of Thor, with my own caveat that at least the anti-Ragnarok people using Fat Thor to further their agenda that Thor’s characterization sucks because Chris Hemsworth and Taika Waititi spent each day on set shaking Tom Hiddleston down for his lunch money and laughing at their own fart jokes are still wrong, which balances out everything else, because balance is still important, even if Thanos’ fuckboy interpretation of it is ridiculous. Anywho, apologies in advance for how messy this ends up being, I feel like my thoughts are very roundabout right now, but getting it out of my system will really help.
Thor has been ~emotionally fat~ for a while now, folks. As far back as Thor (2011), we see him disassociating, aka spending at least a few moments staring off into space in the midst of dealing with sudden upheaval, often because his angry outbursts have failed to be satisfying or get him what he wants/needs. One of the things that made me so excited to see a physical fallout to this in the MCU is that it actually ties into a bunch of other canons, too, including a recent spell in the comics leading up to the War of the Realms, wherein Odin sort of admits to his own role in breaking Thor, as far back as being “too drunk” to be there for his birth, as well as his being dubbed the God of Thunder because baby Thor used to wail whenever there was a storm, and Odin used to make fun of him for it because you don’t get a #4 Best All-Father coffee cup from your kids for nothing. @thishereanakinguy and I are even reworking parts of our Thorki paper for publication to put forth even more evidence that the pressure on Thor to be the Golden Child was too much, and that he’s been unraveling for a long time.
Again, none of these reactions to turmoil are new for Thor, though it’s fascinating that the conversation between Frigga and Thor in Endgame is largely focused on her assuring her son that it’s okay for him to fail, and/or for him to delegate tasks (there’s a recent comic that’s gone viral where Mister Rogers visits with Thor, and it has a similar bent), or realize that he has to shift his perspective on Who He Is. In part, it’s lowkey hilarious that Frigga, aka “send Loki some soup and some library books he’ll enjoy after our big fight because I still love that little asshole, never mind that he’ll probably receive them after she has been killed omfg,” is so blatantly ignoring Odin’s decrees to basically withhold basic affection from their children so that they’ll toughen up on their own, because fuck that noise. At the same time, Frigga imparts words that Thor (and Loki) should have heard and taken to heart a long time ago, and it’s painful to realize that Thor has felt as though he hasn’t been allowed to express his feelings, but so God damned great that that’s what Frigga hones in on. Notably, Thor isn’t trying to botch his trip to 2013 Asgard, either; he has a panic attack when he and Rocket arrive, and Frigga sneaks up on him because Frigga knows her babies no matter how much they are made of pizza or in Loki’s case magical artifacts. (Sarah read something saying that in households where the Golden Child and Black Sheep co-exist, statistically it’s common for the Golden Child to turn to alcohol and food, whereas the Black Sheep is more likely to turn to drugs/more illicit substances wherein they opt not to feel their feelings as much, and I was really floored by that because that really fits a couple of different scenarios that I’m familiar with for one reason or another.)
SO ANYWAY, we see Thor disassociating in previous movies. In TDW, even Odin comments on Thor’s confused heart, which Thor assures him has nothing to do with Jane Foster, even though it would be very easy for him to pretend he’s not actively thinking about Loki a thousand times a day and spending so much time stalking Heimdall and the broken Bifrost remnants that dude is like holy fuck please talk to your kid or I am going to commit treason again so hard. Thor reaches out to Odin for guidance/arguably comfort once Frigga dies, and his inability to provide either sends Thor immediately to Loki, who at the very least can help him properly realize the revenge he seeks, while also saving Jane. In Ragnarok, we get that great moment where Loki is talking directly to Thor, and Thor simply stares straight ahead; Loki doesn’t seem all that surprised by it either - he and Thor have different triggers and whatnot, but he knows the emo fuck who ends up at his cell in a fucking black poncho and handcuffs isn’t a new creation by any means, and he is into it fwiw. Even stuff like Korg admitting at the end of Ragnarok he carried around Miek’s presumably dead body because he felt so bad that he was dead warrants a little nod of understanding from Thor. Likewise, we see Thor stress-eating a bowl of bread at the beginning of Endgame, before the focus on his weight became a thing. Thor doesn’t run outside to see Tony Stark come home; whenever possible, he’s barely there, even before his five-year hiatus.
The use of well-placed humor in a three-hour sob fest does not seem all that weird to me. Shakespeare does it in all of his tragedies; and to continue this egregious metaphor, a lot of his comedies contain tragic bits, aka loss of family identity, which is arguably something that underpins how good Ragnarok is, as well. Being able to laugh at stuff has always been very important for me personally, though I realize it’s not for everyone. Still, I think there’s an additional caveat with Endgame regarding who the ‘fat jokes’ are coming from, aka arguably all of the Avengers have their own significant traumas to work through even before The Snap, and are also just trying to survive, even if they seem to fare physically better than Thor at this particular point in time. So Tony Stark calls him “Lebowski”; but as soon as the musical cues and Hemsworth’s amazing acting switches over into Thor being triggered by thoughts of all that he’s lost only minutes later, we see Tony, who canonically has major issues with being touched, putting his hand on Thor’s shoulder and allowing himself to be grabbed and held because he knows that is what Thor needs from him. Bruce, too, has to set a boundary for his own personal safety about being grabbed, but still gives in to Thor’s need for physical touch. One of the tragic touchstones of Ragnarok is that Thor doesn’t touch Loki once, even though in the first two Thor films and Avengers 1, he is constantly pawing at him. Thor wants to make a point in Ragnarok that he has decided he must let Loki go if that’s what Loki truly wants, and so he withholds his own instinct for physical contact - which Loki gives back to him, however briefly, in Infinity War by knocking Thor out of the way of Thanos and the Tesseract, to say nothing of how all Thor can do when he arrives at Loki’s corpse is to mewl and cling and bury his head and wait for everything to explode, himself included.
In any case, the other 'fat jokes’ come from Rocket, well established as being caustic in the face of personal tragedy, and having been put in the position even back in Infinity War of sort of making sure Thor keeps going, and Rhodey, who is probably just trying to deal with all these new people hanging around, and the fact that all of the structure in his life pretty much has been upended in a really short amount of time. Regarding Frigga’s “eat a salad” remark, as his mom, she seems to understand how much his physicality comes into play for him, and how devastating it is for him to see how others react to him seeming both physically and emotionally diminished. This is why it’s so powerful for him to still be 'worthy’ of Mjolnir, I think, and why that moment book-ended Frigga’s admonishment. Likewise, we don’t get a suspiciously fast glow-up wherein Thor’s all muscley again. He has to hold his own against Thanos in his current form, and he fucking does. Sometimes, life happens, and you have to respond to it as you are because you don’t have the time or energy to get everything in order first, and so you do the best you can. IMO, Thor did a pretty fucking good job.
I also find it completely understandable that Thor went off with the Guardians at the end of the film. (P.S.: Peter Quill is still absolutely intimidated by Fat Thor.) For one thing, I don’t think he’s going to stop trying to find a way to bring Loki back, regardless of what Clint said about the Soul Stone’s magic not being able to be reversed. For another, Valkyrie deserves her own glow-up into becoming Queen of New Asgard, as much as Sam deserves to be the new Cap. I’m of the mindset that Steve likely wouldn’t have gone back in time to be with Peggy if Tony had lived, and that doing so was him honoring Tony’s legacy by taking the advice that he gives several times in the film to go and live life while you have it. Likewise, as sad as it is for Tony to have died, I’m not sure he would have been able to rest, post-Thanos. You also can’t tell me for a second he hasn’t left all sorts of little messages and trinkets and whatnot around for his loved ones to find, cough AI Tony in Peter’s next suit or something cough.
Overall, I thought Endgame was a good send-off. It was well-acted, well-scripted, beautifully scored (Thor’s Pink Panther-esque theme when he’s trying to explain the Aether is amazeballs, as well as the theme that plays when everybody gets to the battlefield), and really just surprisingly, suspiciously good. I am glad that if we have to see this leg of the MCU end that it did so in such a way as to leave character arcs open to further interpretation, and I’m legitimately excited for a lot of them. While I don’t think everybody is required to be fake-positive all of the time, I do think that in fandom spaces, if one’s sole focus is how disappointing something is all the time, it’s not a productive or soul-enhancing use of one’s energy, and it makes me sad to see it. Nuance is important; the MCU has more of it than it’s given credit for having, and I hope more people realize that as it continues into Phase 4, or at the very least, that they find something they enjoy and keep coming along for the ride.

And That's Thor Ragnarok And It's The Best Thor Movie Ever!
The Story's Great, The Characters Are Great And Hillarious And I Like Hela As The Bad Guy But I Think They Shouldn't Have Had Skurge The Executioner In This Movie Without The Person He Actually Serves, The Enchantress (Yeah, I Know They Had A Character Called Enchantress In Suicide Squad But Marvel's Enchantress Is Alot More Sexier Than Her) But Aside From That Criticism I Defiantly Say, See It...
Till Next Time, This Is Duke, Signing Off..

Ragnarok Remix
So a lot of you will probably already know that I really don’t like Ragnarok as a movie, and I thought it would be an interesting exercise to try and rewrite the plot to see if I could come up with something I’m happier with. I did the same thing for Star Wars Episode 1 a couple of years ago and it was a lot of fun.
I’ve kept most of the shape of the story, since the structure is really good, and a lot of the scenes. The main change is swapping out Hella for a different villain because that character isn’t Hella in any recognisable way, and using that name added nothing to the character and hobbled them in terms of what stories they could tell in the future, as well as cutting off the entire Tenth Realm stuff and the associated characters. I’ve also swapped a lot of Odin’s scenes with Frigga, because frankly Odin doesn’t deserve the Morgan Freeman treatment they gave him. The final big change was to Loki’s timeline. Given the nature of NDAs at Disney, they may well not have known that Loki was due to be killed off, and since we do know that now, I wanted to give him more character beats so that he was in a place where killing him off made more sense, and we therefore could do kid!Loki in the future rather than just bringing back Hiddles from the dead for the fourth time.
Anyway, this is mostly just a writing exercise. Hopefully even if you like Ragnarok, you might find it interesting.
So Thor still goes to Muspelheim, and everything plays out the same except for a throwaway mention of Thor being Odin’s second born child from Surtr. (I would also change the thing where Thor doesn’t know Surtr exists, because honestly not knowing who rules one of Asgard’s client kingdoms is exactly the kind of shit Thor was supposed to have grown out of in Dark World).
He goes home, finds Loki pretending to be Odin and reveals his disguise. They go to earth to find Odin, but when they get to the nursing home he’s not there. The nonsense with Strange happens, because a lot of people didn’t bother to see his solo movie so he’s got to be here as well so that audiences know who he is before IW, but instead of sending them to Norway, they get sent to Monte-Carlo.
Thor tries to get Loki to apologise to Odin, but Odin seems largely disinterested and when they try and persuade him to come home, he says he feels like seeing the world instead and one of them can be king in his place. Odin’s whole manner is shifty, and the audience is left with the impression that he knows something he’s not telling.
The siblings start to fight over which of them will be the one to rule, while Thor also keeps trying to persuade his father to return, when they’re suddenly picked up by the rainbow bridge and whisked back to Asgard but a visibly frightened Skurge.
They find Hogun in the bridge chamber, seriously injured. He tells them that he was leading a scouting party to investigate rumours of a monster being seen on the outskirts of Asgard. Through a mix of exposition and flashback we learn that the rumours were true and the whole party were wiped out except him, who managed to escape by calling the Rainbow bridge, however he lost a leg in the transport as it was hurried and Skurge doesn’t have Heimdall’s eyes. This allows us to establish the ‘don’t leave the bridge while it’s moving’ thing.
Hogun dies in Thor’s arms, and Thor swears revenge. Dragging Loki with him, he gathers Sif and the remaining warriors Three and gets Skurge to transport them to somewhere close to the site of the last sighting, but not so close that we don’t have time for a couple of quick character beats to remind the audience who the three are and get them invested.
They find the monster and try to fight it but it’s crazy strong. Thor tries to send Sif home to rally the troops there but she refuses, so Volstagg goes, promising to send help. They continue trying to fight and Fandrall is killed. When Mangog destroys Mjolnir, Sif realises there’s no hope and calls for a rainbow bridge. Thor tries to pull her in with them but she refuses to go and he looses an arm in the beam (if we’re doing King Thor, we’re committing to full King Thor). The Mangog reaches into the beam and tries again to kill them. Sif distracts it, saving their lives, but Thor is knocked out and he and Loki are both pushed out of the beam.
While he’s unconscious, Thor has a vision of his mother. She’s in her chambers in Asgard weaving a tapestry. When he asks her how he can be seeing her when she’s dead, she just reminds him that she’s a goddess. Thor tells her what’s happened, and she names the Mangog for the first time. She tells him that while mortals answer to gods, gods answer to the mangog, who exists to punish their sins. When Thor asks what sins Asgard as committed, Frigga asks him whether he thought the conquest of the other nine realms was achieved bloodlessly, but doesn’t elaborate further. Before wakes up, Thor sees that the tapestry she’s weaving shows Frigga and Odin with not two but three children, himself and Loki, plus a redheaded girl. When he touches the figure of the girl, she fades out of the picture.
Thor wakes up on Sakaar, and gets picked up by Valkyrie who takes him to see the Grandmaster. Unlike in the original, the Grandmaster seems to know who he is, although when Thor says he’s from the nine realms the Grandmaster keeps trying to correct him, insisting there’s ten realms not nine. He’s also accompanied by a dark-haired woman who Thor is convinced is Loki, but who refuses to acknowledge him. We see Thor being prepared for battle, but rather than a haircut, it’s getting a metal cap put over the stump of his missing arm. He realises Valkyrie is a Valkyrie (but based on her tattoos rather than her sword this time) and tries to persuade her to fight for Asgard but she refuses.
We cut back to Asgard, where Volstagg has assembled an army to try and slow down the Mangog. We see him saying goodbye to his wife and their many children. We discover that Sif survived and made it home, but is badly wounded. She tries to argue that she should accompany the army, but Volstagg refuses, saying that Thor would want her to be regent in his absence, since there’s no one else he trusts more than her.
In the gladiator tunnels on Sakaar Thor meets Korg and Miek, since they were the best bit of that film, but we also get a cameo for Raava the Unskrulled. (If you haven’t read Black Bolt, she’s a female-identifying Skrull space-pirate who is one of my favourite characters in Marvel, and would fit very well into this movie).
We get the big set-piece fight with the Hulk in the arena largely unchanged. The only real difference is that the Grandmaster’s box and the crowd contain a lot more recognisable Marvel alien species, including Khymelians and Shi’ar (technically Fox probably owned them back them but it’s not like they were using them), Skrulls, Kree and the Sisterhood of the Badoon. This is our chance to establish Skrulls existing prior to Cap Marvel, even if it’s only as a tiny background Easter-egg.
While Thor’s unconscious after the fight, he once again sees his mother and a tapestry. This time it shows the world-tree but there are ten realms instead of nine. When Thor asks her about the tenth realm and the disappearing girl, she tells him that once there had been ten realms, and Odin had used the inhabitants of the tenth realm, who call themselves Angels, as mercenaries in subduing the other realms. The battles grew bloodier and bloodier and Odin was never satisfied with what he had conquered. She says that he had destroyed realms, and when Thor protests that all the realms are still there, she tells him that what makes a realm is the people rather than the land. Eventually the price the Angels demanded grew so high that even Odin couldn’t pay it, and so as payment they took Odin’s firstborn, a girl called Aldriff. Thor wakes up as he’s trying to ask his mother what happened to the tenth realm.
Thor wakes up in Hulk’s apartments on Sakaar and Hulk mocks him for calling for his mother in his sleep. Thor realises that if Hulk is strong enough to defeat him then maybe he’s strong enough to fight Mangog. He tries to persuade Hulk to help, but Hulk refuses. Realising that he’d have a much better job persuading Banner to save innocent people, he asks Hulk to change back, and Hulk again refuses. Thor then asks him to help him leave the planet, and that Hulk agrees to, on the understanding that Hulk will stay behind.
Hulk calls Valkyrie to his room and Thor jumps her. During the fight he wonders aloud why there are so many Asgardians on Sakaar, saying it’s a conincidence that he and Loki ended up in the same place as Valkyrie. The mention of Loki’s name seems to distract her enough that Thor’s able to get the upper hand and overpower her. They take Valkyrie’s control device to remove Thor’s electric collar, and find the quinjet. Thor manages to activate it enough to shut the door, intending to go back on his word and take Hulk with him. Hulk goes mad trying to escape, but in his anger accidentally triggers the final message the jet recieved from Natasha as he left, causing him to turn back into Bruce. However the quinjet is now too badly damaged to be used.
Valkyrie is searching the palace for the two of them. During her search she goes into a room below the slave quarters were a huge cage holds a giant wolf. Loki is there, talking affectionately to it, as though it were a toddler. It’s initially calm, but goes wild when Valkyrie enters, trying to get to her to eat her. As Valkyrie enters it looks as though Loki is about to open the cage, but she stops when she sees Valkyrie watching her. Valkyrie confronts Loki, demanding to know if it’s true that she’s Loki. Loki admits that it is, and explains that although there was only a few minutes between her and Thor leaving the rainbow bridge, the nature of Einstein-rosen bridges means that she’s been on Sakaar for decades of mortal time. She disguised herself because Loki is known to be an agent of Thanos and even though she’s no longer affiliated with him, most planets wouldn’t wait long enough to let her explain before they executed her. Valkyrie asks if the wolf is Loki’s son and Loki admits that he is. Valkyrie says that that must mean that he’s Fenris Wolf, and goes to kill him but Loki stops her, saying that even if he’s the herald of Ragnarok and a monster, he’s still her son and she would burn worlds to protect him, and then adds that there’s nothing they could do to hurt him anyway, since he’s the child of a god and an Eternal (no further explanation than this as to his parentage is offered). Valkyrie leaves to find Thor, and Loki tells Fenris that she wishes that she could just let Thor die for a change, but she can’t bring herself to. She turns back into her male form and goes searching for Thor.
Thor and Banner try to regroup and come up with a new plan, and Banner tells Thor that if he even turns into the Hulk again he doesn’t think he’ll turn back. We get the impression that Thor would prepared to risk that if it would save Asgard.
Back on Asgard, Volstagg tries to call for the bifrost to take away civilians who have got caught in the battle, but Skurge is so afraid of the Mangog he deserts his post. We cut to Siff exploring the the Allfather’s vault looking for weapons, and we see the eternal flame there as well as various other little cameos. Then she finds Heimdall, locked up in a cell inside the vault. She releases him (she’s holding the infinity gauntlet we saw in Thor 1, and asks him “is this…” and he tells her it’s a fake before saying that they need to hurry to the gate.) They arrive at the bifrost just in time to pull out the civilians before they’re killed. Siff asks Heimdall how the battle is going, and asks whether Odin or Thor is coming to save them, and he just tells her to ready the city’s last defences.
On Sakaar, Loki finds Thor and warns him that the Valkyrie is looking for him, and tells him he should take one of the Grandmaster’s ships. When Thor asks why he’s helping him, Loki says that their mother appeared to him in a dream and asked him to watch out for his brother.
Valkyrie finds them just as they’re stealing a ship and Loki shows her a vision of the death of the Valkyries in the battle to retrieve Princess Aldriff to slow her down. She knocks him out, but the memory of her fallen comrades is enough to persuade her to help Thor. She uses a wall pannel to unlock the slave quarters, and Korg suddenly finds that the looping tunnel doesn’t loop anymore and he’s able to leave. They begin an uprising.
Thor wants to leave Loki behind, but Valkyrie wants to get him as far away from Fenris as possible, worried that he’ll unlock the cage, and insists they bring his unconscious body with them. They’re initially planning to aim for the portal Thor had come through, but Heimdall appears before him to tell him to take the Devil’s Anus portal.
They take the ship through the Devil’s Anus, pursued by guards. However, Fenris senses his mother leaving and goes wild, managing to smash apart the bars of his cage. His violent actions begin the total collapse of the palace, as he was in the foundations of the building. He manages to follow them by jumping from guard ship to guard ship, eventually diving through the portal after them. During this sequence, Loki comes too. His skin as been turning gradually more and blue until eventually the collar freezes and snaps. As soon as he wakes up he reverts to his Asgardian form. Banner reiterates that he can’t become the Hulk, and we see that Thor has finally learned his lesson when he tells Banner than he won’t ask that of him.
The Mangog arrives in Asgard, announcing his presence by throwing Volstagg’s body onto the steps of the palace where Siff and the last remaining soldiers are rallied to meet him. As they raise their swords to attack, Thor’s ship arrives and Thor confronts the Mangog. Meanwhile Volstagg’s wife is trying to get the civilians out via the bifrost. Valkyrie and Banner go to help. Hildegun recognises Valkyrie and explains that she was a Valkyrie herself once, but retired before the massacre to get married. She produces a dragonfang blade out of her pack, and gives it to Valkyrie to use in the battle.
Thor’s battle against the Mangog is not going well, even with the support of Siff and the soldiers. It manages to get Thor pinned and puts out one of his eyes, and he passes out from the pain.
For a third time, he sees his mother. He tells her he can’t fight the Mangog, that he can’t do anything without his hammer and he’s not as strong as her and Odin. She tells him that he’s better than either of them ever were, and he asks her again about the tenth realm. She tells him that as punishment for taking her child, she wiped them from existence, and that’s why she says that Thor is a better person than his parents. Thor says that being a good person isn’t what he needs, he needs power, and she tells him that the power is within him - the hammer was just a conduit.
Seeing what’s happening, Heimdall uses the Bifrost to send a vision of himself to Odin, to tell him that he’s needed. When Odin refuses, and calls Heimdall a traitor for not reporting Loki, Heimdall tells him that he had to watch the slaughter Odin ordered on the Nine worlds, and listen to the screams, and keep the secret of the tenth realm, but he’s damned if he’s going to passively watch all of Asgard burn for Odin and Frigga’s sins. Odin refuses again, but before Heimdall can do anything else he’s distracted by events on Asgard and disappears. We get a beat of Odin just sitting, obviously considering Heimdall’s words before we cut back to the bifrost.
The civilians on the bridge are nearly at the bifrost control when Fenris arrives. Bruce asks what it wants, and Loki appears out of the crowd and says that Fenris wants to eat the world. Valkyrie says that they have to fight it, and Loki says that he can’t kill his own child. Realising that there’s no other choice, despite Valkyrie’s reminder that he doesn’t have to, Bruce Hulks to fight Fenris. When Valkyrie tries to ask Loki to get the civilians to the Bifrost, he’s disappeared. Before she can do anything, the Mangog appears between her and the Bifrost. Heimdall is forced to leave his post and fight.
In Asgard, Thor wakes up to find Loki with him. He tells Loki that Mangog is here to punish Asgard for their parents’ sins (to which Loki says that he knows, Frigga had told him as well) but there might be a way to save the bit of Asgard that matters - the people.
Thor arrives to join the battle on the bridge, now able to use his lightning powers without a conduit.
Skurge turns out to have been hiding inside the Bifrost hall. He hears Odin’s call and activates the bridge to bring him through to join the fight at the same time as Loki reappears. They end up fighting back to back, and Loki blames him for what’s happening. Mangog hits Loki especially hard and he looses control of his shape, reverting to his Jotun form. He says that he must have made a pretty poor replacement for the baby that the Angels stole, and Odin says that he didn’t steal him to be a replacement, and there’s never been a day when he regretted taking Loki in, even when Loki was lost to them.
Surtr emerges from the palace and begins burning everything, and then the Mangog destroys the bifrost controls just he begins burning, trapping the remaining Asgardians on a burning planet.
Korg’s ship appears above the fight. He seems fairly bemused to have gone from a collapsing palace to another collapsing palace, but agrees to take the civilians when Hildegund asks and between her and Skurge they manage to get the civilians onto the ship.
Realising that there’s no hope, Odin tells Hulk and Valkyrie to get to the ship. Valkyrie isn’t happy about taking orders from the man who got her entire unit killed but Thor persuades her. Loki wants to stay because of Fenris, but Odin tells him that even though he’s a better parent than Odin even managed to be, there’s nothing to be gained from staying here. Loki tries to say goodbye to Fenris, but Fenris is so consumed by hunger that he attacks him, and Loki admits there’s nothing to be done.
Thor tells Odin that he’s going to stay and help him hold off Mangog long enough, but Odin tells him that Asgard in exile will need a king, knocks him out and gives him to Loki to drag to the ship. As it pulls away, Fenris leaps for it, nearly bringing it down and Skurge leaps from the ship, sacrificing himself in order to distract Fenris.
Once the ship is gone, Odin is struck down by Mangog. As he’s dying he sees a vision of Frigga reaching for him. He says that he can’t go, he’s a monster and should stay and burn with the monsters, and Frigga tells him that she’s a monster too but at least they taught their children to do better than them, and they walk into the darkness of death as Asgard burns behind them.
On the ship, Thor tries to appoint Loki as king, but he’s too caught up in grief over Fenris, and then Sif, since she had been the regent, but she refuses and names him King Thor. The last shot of the movie (that isn’t a post credits scene) is of a bearded, one-eyed, one-armed Thor seated on his throne surrounded by the survivors of Asgard.

Endgame Thoughts
I FINALLY saw Endgame last night and have so many mixed emotions. I still might need time to properly take in what I saw. But here's my favorite things, ones I was mixed on, and ones that I outright hated.
The Good/What I loved:
Getting to see Tony and Pepper settle down at least for 5 years and have Morgan. Also, Tony and Morgan's bond. Seeing him with daughter was such an amazing part, how different of a dynamic it was between his relationship with Peter.
AMERICA'S ASS! Tony saying how Cap's 2012 suit did his ass absolutely no favors and Steve agreeing that he had America's ass!
Clint teaching Lila archery and her being so amazing at it, right before being dusted.
SCOTT REUNITING WITH A TEENAGED CASSIE! So many feels and that she never forgot about him.
Seeing Valkyrie, Korg, and Miek. My Ragnarok-loving ass was so happy at least one female character wasn't done dirty by being made queen of New Asgard (more on that later)
THOR AND HIS MOTHER! Frigga having the ability to recognize that Thor's current self was from the future and it had not been kind to him. And giving him the motivation to help undo the past. That's what mothers are for. This is also making me cry cause I saw Endgame Mother's Day weekend, and almost lost my own mother, but I'm fortunate she's still around.
Hulk becoming just essentially a Jolly Green Giant by learning to meld him and Bruce together! It was so damn cute seeing Bruce actually be happy as Hulk and having loads of fans! He's clearly changed his reputation as Hulk since Johannesburg and Sokovia.
Nebula and Rhodey's pairing of all people. I thought that was poignant when he mentioned how his accident in Civil War changed him.
Bruce and the Ancient One's scene
2012 Hulk not wanting to take the stairs! 😂😂😂
ALL THE FREAKING CALLBACK LINES AND MOMENTS! Especially Sam saying, "On your left," to Steve, the elevator scene with Rumlow, Happy asking Morgan is she was hungry and she wanted cheeseburgers 😭😭😭😭. Korg, Miek, and Valkyrie alive and Korg wearing Taika's pineapple shirt he wore to Comic Con 2017.
Bruce giving Scott a new taco
Rocket's interactions with Scott, Rhodey, and Thor again. He loves people who joke around like he does and anyone who has loads of weapons.
Clint as Ronin.
ALL MY DAMN QUEENS HELPING CAROL! Women are powerful in numbers and that scene shows it! Even though Carol, really probably didn't need the help.
Steve actually being worthy to lift Mjolnir and temporarily having Thor's lightning powers.
PEPPER AS RESCUE!
I AM IRON MAN! Even though what happens next is the worst.
Scott, Clint, and T'Challa all getting to reunite with their families and Thor and Cap finding new ones!
THOR ACTUALLY SURVIVING! HE'S MY PERFECT, PRECIOUS, PIRATE ANGEL BABY, SEDUCTIVE LORD/GOD OF THUNDER, ASGARDIAN CINNAMON ROLL! 😍😍😍😭😭😭😭❤❤❤❤
Steve actually getting his dance with Peggy 😭😭😭😭
THE ENDCREDITS HOMAGE WITH BIG MOMENTS OF ALL THE STARS AS THEIR CHARACTERS!
Mixed Opinion Scenes
Fat Thor. I thought it was saddening to see what being depressed and self-blaming for the Snap, little mad that he wasn't that hunky piece of ass I love him, angry for all of the fat jokes (even though I'm ashamed to admit I laughed at them). But yet, I also liked it that it's a complete 360 from how Thor was in his first movie. It showed Thor still has human qualities about him. He even was having a panic attack/anxiety/PTSD like Tony did in Iron Man 3. That he's not not the perfect God he once was. Depression changes people. And most of us who have it (myself included), search for ways to find ourselves again. That we are all are trying to prove that we're worthy of ourselves. That we matter. That the lives of the people we love are better with us in it. And like Thor if we lost a relative or friend close to us, continuing to live our lives in how they would want us to live them. Ones where we don't hold ourselves down.
Seeing he lack of new Loki as a Loki fan. I thought it was funny to show how he got that muzzle in the first Avengers. Thor put it on him to shut him up!
Lack of Romanogers as a Romanogers (even though we got that small scene where Nat poured her heart out to him about how the Avengers became her family).
Steve and Peggy at the end though. I felt he had accepted Peggy's life without him and let her find her happiness. But I choose to view it as ambiguous. Steve never explicitly said Peggy was actually his wife.
The lack of Captain Marvel. I get some people may have been happy cause they didn't like her solo movie, but her powers were amazing and I really liked her. But it was super cool having her show up ala Thor in Wakanda and having her own, "You guys are so screwed now!" moment!
That this is the end of the OG6's time as The Avengers. But I'm looking forward to the sequels to Spiderman, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, maybe Captain Marvel (seeing what she'sdone before coming back to Earth, just after the Snap/what she did in the five years everyone was apart), (HOPEFULLY A THIRD ANT-MAN!), maybe at least one New Avengers team up movie and ALL of the Disney+ shows about Loki, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Wanda and Vision, and I could have sworn Renner was getting his own show as Hawkeye.
What I ABSSOLUTELY HATED!
HOW DIRTY THEY DID MY QUEEN NATALIA "NATASHA ROMANOFF" ALIANOVNA ROMANOVA! We all knew someone has to die for the Soul Stone and I was saddened it was Nat. However, her death and not having any kind of funeral, memorial like Tony did made me upset. She was just as important to the rest of the MCU as the guys were and that they actually didn't get to show her fighting hardly at all was a let down. She was severely fridged and I hope they take a moment in her solo movie to honor her in some way.
NO CAROL AND VALKYRIE INTERACTIONS! Those two would have been badass if they had the kind of moment similar to Bucky and Rocket having in Wakanda in Infinity War.
No acknowledgment of Vision or any attempts to rebuild/bring him back. Leaving Wanda with hardly anyone.
That the OG 6 Avengers' time is up. Maybe those left may make cameos in the newer Avengers' movies. But I'll seriously miss Tony, Steve, Nat, Bruce, Thor, and Clint grouping up.
Well those are my thoughts about finally seeing Endgame. Like others, I had both moments I loved and moments I hated.

Responses to Anons. Some of these are a couple of days old and got lost in my inbox, sorry!
ENDGAME SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT.
Yeah, I find it very ironic that he was so disdainful of her drinking and running away from her problems in Ragnarok, only to end up doing the same thing. The film really missed the boat on that parallel because they could have explored how their dynamic would change once Thor had a new understanding for what Val lost and, likewise, Val could have helped Thor to recover since she’s been there and knows what it’s like and was able to turn herself around. So much potential wasted. I guess it was more important to show Thor playing video games with Korg and Miek, though.
I think that the Russos + CH were expecting this Thor to be just as much of a hit as Ragnarok Thor was. The fandom has very strong opinions about Ragnarok and the OOC-ness of everyone and how Thor changes, which is another topic, but for the general audience, Ragnarok was a huge success and most people loved the “new Thor.” I think they got overly confident riding that wave and took it to a whole new level here, but it backfired because this Thor simply isn’t the *same* Thor as he was in Ragnarok. In Ragnarok, he hadn’t yet lost everything. He could afford to be comical because it wasn’t disrespectful of anything (except the previous canon Thor but, again, another topic). Here, they’re using the comedic route as a means to portraying Thor’s PTSD and deep depression, which carries with it unpleasant implications about these conditions as deserving to be mocked. The narrative is saying, “Thor went through hell and didn’t handle it properly and now we’re going to mock him for his coping strategies because we think it will be funny.” It’s incredibly offensive to a lot of people who struggle with these same issues and don’t view them as a joke. Some people thought Thor was hilarious, but it seems that just as many, or more, are really bothered and offended by it. So, yeah. I’m hoping the latter group is more vocal than the former and that CH gets knocked down a few pegs. (I read an article somewhere, and I forget where now or I’d link, but it more or less confirmed that CH had a LOT to do with this Thor’s portrayal.)
Kind of? He fights pretty impressively in the final battle against Thanos, but since it’s such a huge battle with so much going on, he’s not the focal point and doesn’t have any cool moments like his entrance in Wakanda in IW. After the battle, I think that his acknowledgement of Valkyrie having been “regent” all this time, leading the people while Thor buried himself in his man cave, and subsequently officially giving her the throne, is meant to show that Thor is ready to embark on a new journey that doesn’t involve alcohol or video games, but, it’s pretty underwhelming.
I am really hoping that this is the direction that the show takes, although I’d want him to explore other realms instead of just Earth. I think, though, that the post-Avengers, pre-TDW Loki is a potential goldmine of character exploration, and we all know Tom would knock it out of the park. I think by this point it’s been established that Canon Loki, the one who died in IW, still has his own timeline intact and we haven’t lost all of his development and the events in TDW. With that intact, I would be interested to see an “Alternate Universe” Loki and see how they explore his redemption in that scenario. So, I mean, the more I think about this, the more I really think it could be a good development for Loki.
I honestly think that Steve’s ending is complete bullshit. For one thing, as established in the Agent Carter series, Peggy moved on after Steve. She grieved him, yes, but a lot of the first season of that show explored her feelings about him, her grieving process, and her ultimately saying goodbye to Steve and gaining closure. In season two, she has moved on. She is building a career, she’s finally gained the respect of her colleagues (who previously kept shitting on her bc she’s a woman), and she starts a new romance. I think it’s really disrespectful to just toss all of that aside, especially since the movie is blatantly acknowledging that Agent Carter was a thing by having James D’Arcy reprise his role as Jarvis.
Peggy already earned her own happy ending. She loved Steve, yes, but loving and losing people is a part of life. She grieved her loss, moved on, and had a life and a family. I don’t buy that Steve was her husband all along, which I think is what the movie is saying. It doesn’t make sense whatsoever. It just seems like a total clusterfuck.
Peggy’s life aside, though, I really don’t believe that Steve would even want to go back in the first place. It feels OOC because it is OOC. Steve’s entire journey has been about him adjusting to being in the present now. He acknowledges that his own time period has passed, and he tries to make a home for himself in this new time period. Furthermore, he literally went to the ends of the Earth and back to save Bucky and to keep Bucky safe after the fact. He developed a genuine friendship with Sam. He had a place with the Avengers. I don’t buy for one second that he would just abandon all of that, not to mention that he would be going back to a past where he knows that HDYRA has infiltrated SHIELD, that Bucky is alive and being brainwashed and tortured, and he wouldn’t do anything about it. It’s one thing to know that you can’t change anything that’s happened in the past; if he saves Bucky, all he’s doing is creating an alternate timeline where Bucky isn’t the Winter Soldier. Canon Bucky would still suffer. So, I get that - but, I find it incredibly hard to believe that he would live happily during a time period where he knows that is actively going on and he can’t do anything about it. I think the guilt of it would eat him alive. “It’s 1960, Bucky’s being tortured, what do you think of these new TV dinner things, should we get new curtains in the parlor?” Like????? It makes NO SENSE. It’s not a satisfying conclusion to his arc. So, tl;dr: I hate it.
Thank you for the asks! I’m pretty sure I’ve answered everything I’ve gotten, but if I missed something, let me know.

Good Things that happened with Thor in Endgame:
Korg & Miek live with him and they play videogames together
Most of his conversation with his mom
Past Thor immediately going to Past Tony’s aid when the latter was having a heart attack and using his hammer & lightning as a defibrillator to save him
when Steve summons Mjolnir to himself proving he’s worthy and Thor says “I knew it!” with the biggest grin on his face
Thor abdicating the throne to Valkyrie and saying she’s a good leader (Altough I kinda feel like this is the Russos undermining what happened in Ragnarok again; but Val is being praised so it’s good)

In Defense of Thaddy Thor's Physique in Avengers: Endgame
There has been a lot of conversation surrounding Avengers: Endgame, the final chapter in Marvel’s 22-film, three-phase saga. Fans and critics have a lot of feelings about what the film did right, but a lot of the chatter I’ve seen on social media has been about what the film did wrong. Specifically, how the film “ruined” Thor. While I get some of the general issues people have with Thor in Endgame, a lot of the criticism feels unfair.
If you haven't seen Endgame yet and don't want to be spoiled, now is the time to stop reading.
At the beginning of the film, our heroes have lost the battle with Thanos. Thor, the self-proclaimed “strongest Avenger,” who first failed to deliver the fatal blow in Wakanda, executes a weakened Thanos on a garden planet in front of a demoralized team, then walks off. When we catch up with him five years later, he’s holed up in New Asgard with friends Miek and Korg. His hair has grown, his beard is unkempt, and crucially, he has gained weight. This has, apparently, made Thor “a joke.” That particular criticism irks me, so I’ll jump right into why I think it’s wrong.
First of all, Thaddy has been through A LOT. He loses the last of his living parents at the beginning of Ragnarok. His sister Hela, fresh outta prison, shattered Mjolnir(!) and kicked him out of the Bifrost mid-transport. She went to Asgard and murked an entire military squad, the Warriors Three, and no telling how many others. He landed on a strange planet where they cut off his hair(!!) and forced him to fight gladiator-style against his friend, Hulk. When he and his friends escaped, they came back to Asgard to save what remained but had to bring about Ragnarok — essentially letting a monster destroy Asgard — to kill Hela. Then when he led his remaining people to safety, their ship was beset upon by Thanos, who manually culled half the people on the ship, killed Heimdall and Loki, and gave Hulk the business. All while Thor watched, tied up and helpless.
Thor had already lost all his friends, family, and the majority of his people before Thanos used the Infinity Gauntlet to reduce the population of all living creatures by half. He 👏🏾 is 👏🏾 depressed. 👏🏾
Depression doesn't look the same on everybody. But it can and sometimes does look exactly like Thor. It looks like isolation, apathy, extreme weight loss or weight gain, and self-medicating or substance abuse. It looks like doing the bare minimum to keep yourself alive and grooming/showering only when you can muster the strength or the fucks to give. Thor wears his anger, grief, and guilt on his body like people who struggle with depression often do.
Apparently, this makes Thor unworthy. Or at least, that’s the way some people have interpreted it. I don't think the filmmakers thought through Thaddy, beyond wanting to show how much he was affected by everything he's experienced since we've known him. He was not written with as much care as he could have been, but I also don’t think he was written carelessly or as a punchline to a bad joke. I don't think the filmmakers saw him negatively or expected the audience to. They wrote him as someone who is still worthy.
Contrary to some criticism (1, 2, 3, 4), there are only a few times where someone makes a specific comment regarding his body/weight.
When Bruce and Rocket go to retrieve Thor and where his new, fatter body is revealed. Thor says something like "I am doing good, don't I look good?" and Rocket replies, "you look like melted ice cream."
Rocket is an asshole. That is his most defining characteristic, outside of being a sentient raccoon. (This is also why he does not give Thor a good pep-talk on Asgard.) Bruce says nothing about his physical appearance or about the way he spends his time and doesn't make fun of him or judge him for how he's changed. He just asks for his help.
When Thor abandons his mission to take the Aether from Jane and runs into his mother. After she lovingly roasts him and gives him sage advice, she sends him off with "eat a salad."
Mom's be like that. That’s not to diminish it cause it is problematic, but it's a thing a mom would say. It's something my mom has said to me and is in line with the kind of caring concern mothers who mean well often show.
After the team has successfully retrieved the stones and are discussing who will wield the new gauntlet. Thor asks them, "do you know what's coursing through my veins right now?" And Rhodey replies jokingly, "cheese wiz." Thor responds to this by making a face/gesture that's hard to read but is either agreement ("that's fair") or mild hurt. I personally read it as, "you got me there, but now is not the time."
It was, maybe, uncalled for, but definitely not worse than any of the numerous jokes that have been levied at other, fit-bodied people over time. One-liners are a staple of the Avengers films. Humor is one way the MCU and the Avengers films, in particular, have softened what might otherwise be very harsh stories to watch. Take away the zingers and it's just angst and fighting and death.
When Thor rejoins the rest of the team in Endgame, nothing really changes in how they treat him. Tony calls him a nickname, Lebowski, which is not a comment about his weight but his dress and overall demeanor. When Thor starts breaking down while discussing Jane and going on a tangent about what he's lost, they awkwardly try to get him back on task and when they can't, Tony gathers him patiently. They may react to him in ways the audience finds humorous, but they are not laughing at him.
I’d say the camera's POV was more discomforting than any of the characters’ words or behaviors. And this seems largely due to our own biases coloring how we view things. I watched all three Thor films recently and they have always loved a lingering torso shot that pans up. All-a-sudden it’s an issue when that same shot is focusing on a body we no longer find "appealing” or "attractive." They’ve always emphasized his body, it’s just now that his body is no longer “desirable” that the shot is making fun of him. The audience saw a “beer belly” and decided that was the joke. Never mind that the camera has always treated Thor this way.
Thor
Dark World
Ragnarok
Bonus: Age of Ultron
As for his character arc, he went from a person who wanted to be king but wasn’t ready in Thor to a person who was ready but didn’t want it in Dark World. In Ragnarok he discovers that even handicapped and disarmed, he has all the power within him. He leads the Asgardian refugees not because he wants to but because he is needed. It’s a lesson carried through into Infinity War, where he stands in front of a dying star to create a new weapon capable of defeating a powered-up Thanos. He doesn’t need Stormbreaker to be powerful, he needs it to channel his power.
That growth wasn't undermined in Endgame. Thor has not regressed, he’s stagnant. He’s lost. He doesn’t know where to go or how to move on. He feels like he failed his people as their king and everyone else as the “Strongest Avenger.” His retrieving of Mjolnir in the past/alternate reality was not about him “needing” a weapon (as he clearly had access to Stormbreaker), it was about him answering the question of, after all the failures and losses, is he still worthy? And he was. Belly, beard, sweatsuit, and all.
Maybe people's discomfort wasn't that the movie "made fun" of Thor's weight, but that it showed him being soft and vulnerable and messy and not all the way together. He didn't suppress the sadness and guilt he's entitled to. He responded to the pain. People want their heroes to suffer silently and never react or be affected. And it bothers some people that he didn't just move the fuck on. The film didn’t make him a “bumbling idiot” it just made him fat and people projected all their biases onto him.
As of this writing, I've seen Endgame three times. I went into both repeat viewings conscious of how the film treats Thor. And I've come away from it each time feeling the same way. I love Thaddy! I love that he was allowed to be imperfect. And I especially love that there was no “quick fix” before the big battle where he magically loses all the weight. Because even with a belly and split ends he’s still powerful, strong, and capable of and willing to fight. He’s still a hero!
And let us be clear, Thanos was beating ALL they asses! Any comments that Thor was singularly weak is nonsense. Tony and Steve got rocked in equal measure. Steve wielding Mjolnir was the shit(!!!) and it didn’t take anything away from Thor or undermine his strength in any way. Thor got his hero moments like many of the OG Avengers did, he just took a few Ls in the process.
Thor's final act on Earth is appointing Valkyrie king of New Asgard. He didn't want to be king in the first place and only took the mantle to protect his people after Asgard fell. In the five years while he was depressed and unable to lead, Valkyrie stepped up. She was ready and willing and he was not. Giving her the throne was not an act of weakness, but one of strength and wisdom. It was a culmination of all the lessons he's learned and him heeding his mother's advice to "be who you are, not who you're supposed to be."
Last we see Thor, he's hitching a ride with the Guardians and having a push-and-pull with Quill over who’s in charge. As we know, Thor is not a dude, he is a man. Quill is a dude at best. It's unclear whether Thor will make an appearance in the next GOTG, but if he does, I expect him to be the captain, it’s only fair.
Whether he remains thicc or tightens up is of no consequence. Being fat does not diminish him. He is still strong and he is still a hero. And frankly, he is still foine! A little tummy ain't never hurt nobody and Thaddy could still get it!

What Could Have Been
Chapter One
Rating: PG
Warnings: none
Characters: Thor Odinson, Loki Odinson
Mentioned: Bruce Banner, Brunnhilde, Heimdall, Korg, Miek, Stephen Strange, Sif, Fandral, Hogun, Volstagg, Odin Borson, Frigga
Thor sat in his chair — he refused to call it his throne — and watched out the window. It was rare that he managed to be alone even for a moment with the entirety of Asgard being cramped into the Statesman. They were lucky that the ship was large and had plenty of room to move around. If it were any smaller, he was sure they would all go mad.
Most of the Asgardians slept in the same quarters. The women and children slept in beds while the men laid out on the floor. Thor shared a separate room with Loki and Bruce and Brunnhilde, though it wasn’t meant to be a bedroom, and Heimdall had made himself comfortable in a storage room, hardly leaving as he had always done when he guarded the Bifrost. The only ones who ever questioned it were Bruce, Korg, and Miek. The rest of them were used to his strange ways.
It was night now. Well, the sleeping hours was what they called it. There really was no night and day anymore. It was the only time that the ship was ever quiet, but that was okay with Thor. He enjoyed the fact that his friends had not given up hope. In fact, many were excited to see Midgard for the first time, asking questions excitedly to those who had visited in the past, himself included.
Thor was pulled from his thoughts when he heard the door slide open. He turned slowly to glance towards the opening, a bit surprised when he saw Loki come in. His brother looked tired, he noticed, and a bit surprised that Thor was already there. “Oh,” he breathed so quietly that Thor almost missed it. “I didn’t know you were in here.”
“Can’t sleep?” Thor asked.
Loki hesitated before giving a small nod, moving forward to look out at the stars. “I can go somewhere else if you wish,” he said after a moment, not looking in Thor’s direction.
“I don’t mind the company,” Thor assured him. In fact, he was glad to have his brother there. He had feared that he might never see him again after they parted on the Bifrost, Thor sending Loki to bring Ragnarok to Asgard. He had been certain his brother would go elsewhere, but for some reason he decided to stay. There was something different about him, Thor realized. Something that had changed since the Battle of New York and his sentencing to life in the dungeon. He clearly wasn’t the bloodthirsty killer he had made himself out to be, but he wasn’t quite himself either. Not the way he was before Thor’s banishment. Thor just couldn’t figure it out.
“Do you really think it’s a good idea to go back to Earth?” Loki asked after a moment of silence. When Thor looked over he realized that his brother was wringing his hands nervously in the same way that their mother did when she was alive.
“Yes, of course,” Thor replied with a small smile. “The people of Earth love me. I’m very popular.”
Loki rolled his eyes slightly. “Let me rephrase that,” he started again. “Do you really think it’s a good idea to bring me back to Earth?”
Thor looked his brother over. Honestly, it probably wasn’t the best idea. Their last trip to Midgard hadn’t gone well, and he was sure that Dr. Strange would not be pleased when he learned that Loki was on Earth again after he had promised they would return to Asgard, but a part of him hoped that he was wrong in his judgement. Loki was a difficult character, but Thor truly believed he was trying to do better. “Probably not, to be honest.”
Loki nodded, lowering his head a bit. Thor half-expected a snide remark in return, but his brother remained silent. Thor frowned and raised a hand, putting it on his shoulder. Loki glanced over with a questioning look, one eyebrow raised.
“I wouldn’t worry, Brother,” Thor told him, a small smile on his lips. “I feel like everything’s going to work out just fine.”
Loki gave him a weak smile in return. “I hope you’re right,” he replied. “I don’t believe your Avenger friends will be too happy to see me.”
“I think it will be fine,” Thor pressed. “Bruce likes you.”
“Bruce tolerates me,” Loki corrected him, sitting himself down on the floor of the ship a few feet away from Thor. “Like Sif and the Three. There’s a difference.”
Thor raised an eyebrow at him. Sif and the Warriors Three had always been their friends. Sif was the only one left now, but he liked to believe she was still a friend. Then again, he hadn’t really been around all that much before Ragnarok. “What do you mean?” he asked. “They were always our friends.”
Loki huffed out a half-heartedly laugh. “You must be the most oblivious of all of Asgard,” he murmured. “They were always your friends. They put up with me because I’m your brother and they were afraid to cross you. They never actually liked me. Not since we were children, at least.”
Thor felt a flicker of anger in his chest. “That’s ridiculous,” he muttered. “How come you never said anything? I would have put them in their place.”
“But would you have?” Loki asked. “Now, maybe, I could see it. But then?”
Thor frowned at the accusation, but he knew that Loki was right. It had been centuries since he had been close to his brother. Ever since that first fight when Odin had looked into the Godseye Mirror for the last time and saw one of them bringing Ragnarok to Asgard. Thor had been quick to accuse Loki of being the one that would lead the army of the dead, and he hadn’t even been sorry about the fact. He wondered if that had been the moment that his brother had changed. Because their trust had been broken when they eavesdropped on their parents’ conversation. “I’m sorry, Loki, I—”
“Don’t,” Loki interrupted him, looking down at the floor away from Thor. His voice sounded almost hollow of emotion as he spoke. “I’m too tired to have this conversation.”
Thor sighed but nodded. If he knew one thing that would never change about Loki it was the fact that you shouldn’t push him farther than he wants to go. He had his boundaries, and he didn’t want anyone crossing them. Not even Frigga, when she was alive.
Slowly, Thor stood from the seat and moved towards the door. He turned to look at his brother again, seeing that his gaze was still fixed on the dark floor beneath him. “Goodnight, Loki.”
Loki glanced up at him for a moment, blinking once. “Goodnight, Thor,” he replied. For a brief moment, Thor thought he could see the echo of a smile on his lips. Someday, he hoped, they could get back to being as close as they had once been. Someday, he hoped, but not today.
