With the SCOTUS ruling that the president is above the law, the MAGATs are showing their true colors.
And it's not the red, white, and blue that they fly next to their cult flags.
No, it's peach and orange.
That's because all this time, while they were screaming the loudest about how they were the "True patriots," they were really just reading a script their great orange leader gave to them.
They absolutely praise the deeds of these corrupt justices that blatantly disregard the vision the founding fathers had for our country.
When you call them out on their treasonous ideas, and that's what this boils down to, they can't do much more than regurgitate the tweets of their supreme leader.
They are not Patriots! Project 2025 seeks to tear down our democracy and rebuild our government into a dictatorship, crowning their cult leader as king.
All of these recent SCOTUS rulings are designed to lay the groundwork for Project 2025, and the MAGATs fully support it. Don't you forget that. Every single truck flying a MAGA flag, every single house with a Trump 2024 sign out front, and every red hat in the crowd at this year's 4th of July parade; they all support a dictatorship.
Don't let these kool-aid drinkers win this year. If they do, you can kiss your freedoms goodbye. They will undo all the progress we made over the years and set us back 300+ years. Under their regime, only rich, white men will have any semblance of freedom in the new country.
The only way we can hope to stop it is to get out and vote, turn as many states blue as we can. And let's hope that the electoral college isn't as corrupt as the Supreme Court is.

Trump's pet judge (one of many) Cannon just dismissed the ENTIRE documents/espionage case against him. Note that even SCOTUS's Presidential immunity horseshit should not cover this, as it deals with crimes after he was President.
It will be appealed, of course, but it won't be going to trial before the election (which means never, if Trump gets in and can appoint an Attorney General who will shut it down/self-pardon).
Which means, yes, you have to vote, and vote for Biden/Democrats.
This is what dictatorship looks like. This is what America looks like, and will continue to look like if Trump wins- one man above the law, stealing our country's nuclear secrets for his own gain, then being let off by his rubberstamp courts.
Vote

Of all the civil rights policies enacted by U.S President Lyndon Johnson, affirmative action is arguably one of the most enduring – and most challenged.
Johnson made it clear during a commencement address at Howard University on June 4, 1965, where he stood.
In his speech, “To Fulfill These Rights,” Johnson argued that civil rights were only as secure as society and the government were willing to make them.
“Nothing in any country touches us more profoundly, and nothing is more freighted with meaning for our own destiny than the revolution of the Negro American,” Johnson said.
In my view as a scholar of the history of affirmative action, Johnson’s speech and the legal structure it helped produce directly contradict those who would dismantle affirmative action and besmirch diversity programs today.
As the Supreme Court looks ready to strike down affirmative action in college admissions, it’s my belief that unlike the court’s conservative majority, Johnson understood that the U.S. could not serve as a moral leader around the world if it did not acknowledge its past of racial injustices and try to make amends.

Unfortunately, when it comes to the Constitution (and, thus all aspects of America law), the answer is apparently whatever 5 unelected judges with lifetime appointments say it is.

U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Wednesday introduced articles of impeachment against Supreme Court Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas, citing "widely documented financial and personal entanglements" that have sparked a full-blown ethics crisis on the nation's highest judicial body.
"The unchecked corruption crisis on the Supreme Court has now spiraled into a constitutional crisis threatening American democracy writ large," Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said in a statement, arguing that their refusal to recuse from key cases in which they had glaring financial and personal conflicts of interest "constitutes a grave threat to American rule of law, the integrity of our democracy, and one of the clearest cases for which the tool of impeachment was designed."
The impeachment articles against Thomas accuse the justice of "failure to disclose financial income, gifts and reimbursements, property interests, liabilities, and transactions, among other information," as well as refusal to recuse from matters concerning his spouse's legal and financial interest in cases before the court.
The Alito articles accuse the justice of "refusal to recuse from cases in which he had a personal bias or prejudice concerning a party in cases before the court" and "failure to disclose financial income, gifts and reimbursements, property interests, liabilities, and transactions, among other information."
"Justice Thomas and Alito's repeated failure over decades to disclose that they received millions of dollars in gifts from individuals with business before the court is explicitly against the law," said the New York Democrat. "And their refusal to recuse from the specific matters and cases before the court in which their benefactors and spouses are implicated represents nothing less than a constitutional crisis. These failures alone would amount to a deep transgression worthy of standard removal in any lower court, and would disqualify any nominee to the highest court from confirmation in the first place."

Four Days Ago was a shit day for me in general where nothing was going well, but a shittier day for everyone who lives in the USA. I don't care what your political views are on my country, this is not normal; quit saying that it is. This is not what the people who founded this government roughly 250 years ago had in mind, whether it's Federalist Paper #39, the impeachment clause, separation of powers with their checks and balances in place, or just the fact that absolute power corrupts. No one is meant to be above the law or immune to it, least of all the highest office in this country. Now that SCOTUS has undone this, we now have a judicial branch that is truly broken and doesn't function anymore.
My girlfriend wasn't surprised by any of this; she holds dual citizenship in a country where the government functions even worse, where there are no term limits so the president can run as often as they want to (making the vote feel like a sick joke that it is), where there is no freedom of speech (so teachers and even children are thrown in jail), and due process doesn't exist even if you're worth billions of dollars.
I know there's a lot of minorities who aren't surprised by this, saying "we told you so," or "Are you really surprised?" I hope most of those same people actually send in a voter mailing ballot or go out and vote for Joe Biden on November 6th. I don't care your thoughts or feelings. If you thought it was bad before to live in this country, it's now worse and it will get much worse under four more years of Donald Trump, or any future president like him, now that this has been done. Until this is reversed with an amendment passed, nullifying SCOTUS's decision: Everyone's future is at stake in this country now. This is NOT normal.

Officials in three states-Colorado, Maine, and Illinois-tried.
The Supreme Court told them to shut up and know their place.
“The three justices from the court’s liberal wing strongly objected to this, and Justice Amy Coney Barrett objected less forcefully. Each of the four indicated that the court need not have gone that far. The concurrence from Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson is full-throated on this point. They agreed that allowing Colorado to disqualify Trump would lead to “chaos,” but they disagreed that congressional enforcement was “critical” to the 14th Amendment. And they suggested the court’s majority was insulating both Trump and other alleged insurrectionists. They said the five justices “decide novel constitutional questions to insulate this Court and petitioner” — Trump — “from future controversy.” “By resolving these and other questions, the majority attempts to insulate all alleged insurrectionists from future challenges to their holding federal office,” the three justices wrote.”
Takeaways from Supreme Court’s Trump-14th Amendment ruling
I struggle to accept that anyone who was involved in writing the 14th Amendment would look at Trump, January 6, and everything he has said and done around it, would conclude that he is not the kind of person they were thinking about when they drafted it.
It seems like everyone, from Moscow Mitch to the activist SCOTUS, refuses to use the powers granted to them by the constitution to protect and defend America from people like Trump. Whether that’s because they agree with his policies, or they are just feckless cowards who are so insulated from the consequences of their actions they don’t have to live with them, the result is the same.
Why won’t any of these people use the tools and the powers they have been granted — tools the vast majority of Americans *want* them to use — to wake us from this nightmare?

"Broomes, an appointee of President Donald Trump, on Wednesday dismissed two machine gun possession counts against Tamori Morgan, who was indicted last year. Morgan was accused of possessing a model AM-15 .300-caliber machine gun and a machine gun conversion device known as a “Glock switch” that can make a semi-automatic weapon fire like a machine gun."
“The court finds that the Second Amendment applies to the weapons charged because they are ‘bearable arms’ within the original meaning of the amendment,” Broomes wrote. He added that the government “has the burden to show that the regulation is consistent with this nation’s historical firearm regulation tradition.”
I'm sorry, but who the fuck needs a machine gun to go hunting?!
These magats aren't planning to kill some deer with machine guns.
Mark my words. They are fully prepared to overthrow our government in a violent, bloody coup when their cult leader loses yet another election.
The Supreme Court and every Trump appointed official are laying the groundwork for that takeover.

A horrible thought:
SCOTUS's conservative majority isn't just slow-walking the Trump presidential immunity case because they're afraid to take a position or even to help him stall the case. They're doing it with full premeditation that their answer depends on who wins the presidency in November.
Ie, if Biden wins, they will rule shortly after the election that Presidents do not enjoy total immunity.
If Trump wins, they will rule that they do, the final piece for solidifying dictatorship slotting into place before there is any chance to challenge it.
Don't tell me this court wouldn't do it.

The three decisions included: one from January 13, 2022, that invalidated some COVID-19 workplace protections (National Federation of Independent Business v Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)); one on June 23, 2022, that voided some state laws restricting handgun carry (New York State Rifle and Pistol Association Inc v Superintendent of New York State Police (Bruen)); and one on June 24, 2022, that revoked the constitutional right to abortion (Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health Organization).
A group of health researchers, led by Adam Gaffney at Harvard University, modeled how these decisions would impact Americans' morbidity and mortality in the near future.
[…]
In all, the researchers estimate that the three decisions combined could lead to around 3,000 deaths total in the coming decade if nothing else changes. The higher-end estimate, which the researchers note could be more realistic, would be nearly 6,000.
The estimates are considered conservative.
[…]
Still, the estimates make clear that the high court's decisions can have far-reaching effects on many aspects of Americans' lives, including their health. "The findings of this study suggest that these Supreme Court decisions may harm the health of US citizens for years, and possibly decades, to come."

Impeachment is not necessarily a bad idea, but it is, at this point, a very symbolic exercise only. Even if we have a very good November, we're unlikely to have the votes to convict in the Senate (right now, we wouldn't even have the votes to impeach in the House).
What we can do is use Congress's legislative power to a: pass an actual, binding, enforceable ethics code on SCOTUS; to investigate and subpoena justices over their bribe-taking and perjury in their confirmation hearings, and make criminal referrals to the DOJ where appropriate; to establish judicial term limits; and, yes, to expand the court. All that takes is a majority of Senators for filibuster reform, and then a majority in both houses to pass the legislation, and that is an achievable, albeit difficult, goal.
But it starts with a Blue wave this November. Until that happens, everything is just talk. And 5 crooked SCOTUS justices defacto rule America.

This is just a friendly reminder that the Civil Rights Act wasn't signed until July 2, 1964.
Just for some perspective.
5 of the 9 supreme court justices are older than the Civil Rights Act.
4 of those 5 are old enough to remember when Whites Only establishments existed.
1 of those 4 wouldn't even have been able to enter such establishments.
These are the same people taking power away from federal agencies, telling us that the president is above the law and allowing for unhoused individuals to be jailed.

Today, The Supreme Court of the United States voted unanimously to force states to keep Trump on the ballot, despite the 14th Amendment to the Constitution clearly disqualifying him as an insurrectionist oath-breaker.
Worse, a majority of 5-4 voted that no state could EVER remove a Federal candidate- effectively shielding every insurrectionist with a single stroke.
Some thoughts:
This is the absolute death of SCOTUS's legitimacy. Every justice, and I include the "liberal" ones in that, has arguably violated their oaths of office to the Constitution, and earned impeachment. The Supreme Court is increasingly acting as, effectively, an arm of the Republican Party- which is to say, of Trump and Vladimir Putin.
The Constitution does not change because SCOTUS chooses to ignore it, and neither do the oaths of office of officials who swore to uphold it. Any office-holder who's oath was worth more than the paper its printed on has a duty to refuse to recognize Trump's eligibility, regardless of SCOTUS.
I'm calling it now, Biden will win the 2024 election- as he will be the only eligible major party candidate. If the disqualified felon gets more votes... well, I think that very unlikely, but if so he would still be ineligible, and see above re duty of officials not to recognize or obey him.
This makes it all the more vital that Biden win the most votes and electors, to avoid a catastrophic Constitutional crisis where there is no clearly legitimate President-elect.
We must prepare for further SCOTUS rulings ignoring the Constitution to advance fascism, including a possible ruling that Trump has immunity for crimes he committed, and attempts to overturn the election if Republicans don't win.
Voting is still vital. Best case scenario, Trump loses by such a landslide Republicans can't overturn it on a technicality, and don't dare try. Worst case scenario, it will help motivate people, and provide further moral and democratic legitimacy to resist a MAGA coup attempt.
Prepare to resist. I want to be very clear that I am NOT advocating for violent resistance here, and this is not merely a disclaimer for legal purposes. There are very few evils worse than civil conflict, it often hurts the most vulnerable worst, and it and rarely leads to a swift or equitable solution, and the side that leaps to it first will lose a great deal of legitimacy and support. If there is violence, let MAGA fire first, not us. But Blue state officials need to be preparing to resist a Trumpian coup attempt. And every patriotic America needs to be preparing for mass protest and acts of civil disobedience come November. If you are in a union, look into what plans, if any, your union has made to call a general strike should Republicans attempt a coup (some unions made such plans in 2020, which were never activated).

"Justice Elena Kagan memorably castigated him for treating 'judging as scorekeeping,' whining about 'how unfair it is' when he loses, and repeating the same bad arguments 'at a higher volume.' Justice Sonia Sotomayor has repeatedly accused him of outright dishonesty by misrepresenting precedent and dangling false promises. In a fed-up dissent in just her first term, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson compared a Kavanaugh majority opinion to the children’s book If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. [Samul] Alito’s rebuttal to Kavanaugh’s dissent in Sackett v. EPAconsisted of exactly one sentence: Kavanaugh’s argument, Alito wrote, 'cannot be taken seriously.'"
Justices are 'losing patience': Brett Kavanaugh skewered as a 'lightweight' in brutal analysis
Hold up.
This guy?
Tumblr media
“The consequences will extend long past my nomination. The consequences will be with us for decades. This grotesque character assassination will dissuade confident and good people of all political persuasions from serving our country, and as we all know, in the political system of the early 2000s, what goes around comes around.”
This piece of shit?
Tumblr media
The guy who spent his entire life as a right wing activist judge, who was part of the Brooks Brothers “riot”, snarled and barked and insulted the Senate Judiciary Committee during his farcical confirmation hearing, who lied repeatedly about his history of sexual assault, his gambling debts, and threatened to explicitly hurt people who he views as antagonistic to him ... turns out to be an intellectual lightweight in the mold of Thomas? He doesn’t give a flying fuck about law or justice or precedent, he just wants to hurt people he doesn’t like under the color of law?
Wow. None of us saw that coming.
