hi I wanted to know what you think of Rako Hardeen's arc. We never saw a resolution to this with Satine, I say she cried and what do you think Satine's reaction would be?
Hey there! Thanks for the ask! :)
I've given this a lot of thought, so please forgive me for the long ass rambling I'm about to do.
And also, in general to everyone, I'm not an expert, I don't claim to be one, I don't consider myself to be an authority on SW, Satine Kryze, Obi-Wan Kenobi, the Obitine ship, or anything of the sort; I'm just a dork who thinks about these characters way too much.
Based on canon, both Satine and Obi-Wan had an understanding that their love for Mandalore and the Jedi Order took precedence over their mutual feelings, however, I firmly believe that in "Voyage of Temptation" when she makes her declaration of love and he reciprocates by telling her he would have left the Order, that is the moment that supports the idea that they were both still in love.
That being said, they resigned themselves to the fact that they couldn't be together, and I think that genuinely, deep down, they were at peace with their decisions.
But it's also noted in canon ("Brotherhood" by Mike Chen, as well as general lore) that Obi-Wan thought of her from time to time, even taking the nickname she gave him ("Ben") when he went into exile. I can't imagine Satine didn't think of him sometimes, too.
So, it's because of all this that I think the grief Satine felt over Obi-Wan's death probably devastated her in private.
My perception of her is that while she's very comfortable with anger and she wears that emotion on her sleeve, deep down, she's a bit of a softie and anger is a defense mechanism to hide her sadness, fear, etc.; so, for her to cry openly over his shrouded body, in the Jedi Temple nonetheless, his death had to have messed her up a bit. (I mean, it would have been easier if she had just ranted about it like, "We must take a stand against violence of all kinds and prevent senseless deaths like this!" but instead, we see her mourn in the ep.)
After it all went down, though, I like to believe that there was a private conversation between the two of them, a moment for him to come clean about the ruse. There are a lot of takes on it where others think Satine reacted by slapping or punching him, but I disagree. I'm sure she wanted to do that, but IMHO, I think she would have put up a wall and given him an Ice Queen routine for a bit, ignoring his coms, pretending he doesn't exist, that sort of thing, rather than lash out physically. (Just my take! Nothing wrong with others!)
I'm also think Satine felt many things when she learned he was really alive: Relief, sure. Rage, of course. Annoyance and humiliation, too. After all, she had been summoned from Sundari to his funeral and she had sobbed publicly for him! She probably felt as if she had been taken advantage of, and I'm sure she had choice words for the Jedi Order for making a mockery out of the mourners.
Ultimately, though, I think that once cooler heads prevailed, Satine would have chalked the Rako Hardeen spectacle up to one thing: Duty. They chose their individual duties over love, and while it might have been in poor judgment to go along with faking his death, it was what was asked of him, and I think she understood that better than anyone else.
It feels so dumb for me to have written out all of this, but like I said, I've mulled over this story arc for so long, and it lives in my head rent free.
I'm going to touch grass now! Thanks for the ask! I love talking about these characters, and this was fun! :)

⭐️another day, another star! if you don't have more to talk about with The Silence and The Storm, dealer's choice!
Heh, I always have more to talk about with TSATS XD
One aspect I know I've talked a little bit about, but am happy to ramble about more is Anrakyr. I seriously considered not including him at all when I started. I think when I read the Devourer novella he suffered from "Default Asshole Necron" syndrome. I see in a lot of GW stuff I've read where necrons are the antagonists. The lordly arrogance, the "grr I sure hate organics! I'm so much better than them!", and not much personality deeper than that. It's the same flavor of asshole for all the overlords, and Anrakyr had a little bit of that going on imho. I hate it. It is boring. His character concept is fantastic, his design slaps, and I love his three praetorians who follow him around. But on the page, he didn't work for me.
Then my completionist brain kicked in and I knew I'd go nuts if I didn't include him. He has a model, I owed him a POV. I could fix him, right?
Gentle reader, I had no idea how to fix him. I didn't know what his plotline was besides being generally antagonistic, but he just doesn't have the resources (or skill, sorry) to meaningfully be an obstacle to either the Silent King or the Stormlord.
Throwing Zultanekh at him was an early hail Mary (Zultanekh makes everything better!) And then I added a devil on the shoulder in the form of Setekh. Okay, at least Anrakyr had something to do, plus he wound up being the perfect way to bring the flayer kingdom into the story. But I don't think I really settled on his arc until around Chapter 13. Late in the game!
I did get a little meta with it. Anrakyr also realizes he has no idea what he's doing! What is the point of all this? Him and me kind of figured out his story together, and I think it came down to going back to the core question of the character. Why would an overlord abandon his world for the sake of others? What was his goal then and is he really accomplishing it now? How can he get back to it? This is what I love about discovery writing, even in the context of a fic where I am posting a chapter at a time and can't go back to edit/change things. There's a sense of building something organically, and sometimes my past self leaves me threads to work with that I didn't initially realize were there. It is tricky but a lot of fun.
Again Zultanekh is a life saver, throw him at all your angry, confused wanderers. I'm incredibly happy with where Anrakyr is at now story-wise. Plus I get to bring Anrakyr/Thaszar to the world, and if I add nothing else to this fandom besides that ship I will be happy.
He's gonna get a backstory soon, I promise. Imotekh and Szarekh aren't the only ones getting their flashbacks!

🔥🔥 - shipping & the rpc in general ?
okay, shipping has become a curse ( at least for me ) don't get me wrong i love them and love to see how a character gets shaped by that aspect as well but also ... it's so hard to find people on the same wavelength. maybe it's because for years i've had one writing partner whose chemistry with was so off the chart we could effortlessly write whatever character and make a ship work but now? it's kind of a struggle. you never quite know how much the other mun is invested unless they tell you, which in turn just looks like you're chasing them and being annoying. i'm big on visuals ( my poor pinterest boards will tell you so too ) but it all feels like putting so much effort into something nobody really cares. that being said this is probably a me thing in the sense that my brain is being mean, but at the same point i wish i could actually build something cool and relevant plot wise that is not just writing a few replies on sundays and call it a day.
on a more general conversation, i think that we still have to go a long way when it comes to ships - there's still so much shit going on with female muses and characters in general, sexualities or lack of it slapped on them so that they're not in the way of the main mlm ship, muns being approached by people only to write smut ( which is not bad in itself but also meh ) ... in the rpc and fandom spaces there's still a lot of work to do, i doubt we'll get there anytime soon but one can hope.
i know this will probably piss some people off because it sounds cliquey but ... sometimes it's really best to have a few blogs you can vibe with ic & ooc than follow everyone and basically collect muses but never write with any of them. i know some people care a lot about numbers but every character i've written there were always those few blogs you could easily write meaningful connections with and idk i think that's a far better rp experience - not saying that other blogs are not quality or whatever the current lingo for it is now because i follow a lot of duplicates and love to create different plots with all of them ( and with ocs too of course ) but really once you've found your group you're set, at least imho.

Plo Koon x Wolffe - Thoughts?
As someone who is frequently impassive to all ships as long as it's non 'predatory (pedophilia)' and is consensual in context, I have to say I felt a little bit weird about it initially. But then you get to see CodyWan, RexWalker, BlyLa, and the like so... Who am I to not explore the possibilities of... (I thought about this one but idk if it's commonly used now but I'm proud of it) 'Ploffe'.
I've read a few fics that re insanely hot but majority of them included the reader. I did check out a few Plo x Wolffe and I am obsessed with the dynamics of a grumpy commander who's such a good boy to his General, I ship it.
And as of a month now, I'm fucking obsessed with it. And the cute thing, imho, is that no matter how I write smut or ship romance and smutty happenings, I cannot do all of it seriously.
So the Ploffe thots I have are indeed hot but silly as I have this impulsive need to just slap my oc right there and build this unhinged love triangle that's funny to me.
Tumblr media
But yeah, Ploffe? I'm down with it.

7. Least favorite headcanon?
21. Favorite fic trope?
7. Least favorite headcanon? I am not entirely sure if this one is meant to be an "in general" fandom question or specific to whatever one(s) you're active in now (not your fault, the question itself is just vague haha) so I will answer both! Specific to RE8, I cannot for the life of me fathom the "Heisenberg made the tank for Ethan" head canon. I think it irritates me so much because it's constantly stated as fact and yet I have yet to see someone point to exactly where they found this supposedly watertight evidence? If someone has some I am happy to eat crow and admit my mistake but like? Mutated Heis even has a taunting line where he accuses Ethan of using his hand me down, which I have to assume means the tank... The whole situation is so stupid because the tank itself is such a crappy, lazy bandage Capcom slapped on to explain why their overpowered Lord couldn't just crush you immediately like a bug so I guess I can't get too mad at folks but it's also one of those things that seems like it's constantly brought up in service of shipping and people will get so fucking mad at you for being like "okay but that literally didn't happen" lol. It's just left a bad taste in my mouth over the years because it comes out as one of those "the whole fandom agrees!" things and I'm sitting here just ":) I do not but fuck me I guess." Overall, I think a headcanon I see across fandoms that irks me is whenever people get a little too gleeful with their "x character HATES WOMEN!!!" thoughts, even if it's joking. Idk if this is a new meme with the youth (I've seen it in the context of 'x character is gay because they like men, y character is gay because he hates women) but it's very gross the way it's presented imho. Like there are definitely times and ways to unpack a character's canon misogyny but laughing about it and getting all weirdly excited in this context is just.... euughhh. I don't understand the appeal at all of slapping hideously awful systems of belief onto characters who often don't even present them in the text. It's yucky. 21. Favorite fic trope?
Okay, so I have to admit I am a huge sucker for "there was only one bed." I know, I know lol. I can't help it. It plays into my favorite relationship trope as well of "idiots in love" aka people who refuse to admit their feelings for one another either because they think they're unrequited or they're too emotionally constipated to do it. The one bed situation can be amazing as a boiling point - whether you want that to be raunchy as hell or a good old fashioned cuddle sesh.
I am also hugely fond of huge scary guy and his tiny, immensely scarier murder daughter (adopted or biological.) I think if you follow me, you don't need me to elaborate at all lmfao.

I have to disagree, I think it's extremely rude to not tag it if Lestat/Antoinette happens in a fic, whatever is a real relationship, a long term affair or a one night stand it could be triggering for readers and it should be tagged so it can be excluded from results when sorting tags, I personally always close the tab if I see it, no matter how far into the fic I was, same thing with Human AUs by the way, I can't tell you how many times I used the exclude function to exclude human AU and I still see them because people either don't tag them or tag them only as something like bookstore AU or professor AU or Rockstar AU (those always fool until I read the summary) but at least with human AUs I (usually) know it's human AU by the summary, Antoinette sneaks up on you because people don't tag it and it feels like a slap in the face every time, undertagging is a big problem on this fandom
Just said this on a reply, but it’s not a ship tag if it’s canon imho, bc then people do know what to expect if she is listed as a character and from the summary.
If you go and fully explore it beyond canon that is something else.
My two cents 🤷🏽‍♀️
That‘s all I can say on this, I‘m not going to enter any tagging/ship wars on this, sorry.

IMHO Young Justice Animated ruined Cameron's perception in the greater DC fandom.
Oh! Can I voice negative opinions on YJ and how badly it did Cameron and Artemis. First of all... YJ Artemis is 100% an OC, like... she is just a new character with an old character's name slapped on and the new character isn't really better than the old one but people are now big mad any time comics Artemis appears the way comics Artemis used to be.
I also think this effected Stargirl a bit because they KNEW YJ fans would be BIG MAD if she was a villain but it's a new adaptation Cam and Art should have been villains (and also Stargirl wanted Cam to be Courtney's love interest so they just kind of STOLE all of Hank's traits from his relationship to his dad to being a soft art boy to BEING INSTITUTIONALIZED to make Cam more love interesty).
YJ Cam has the dubious honor in winning a ship war against some random dude Artemis has NEVER interacted with so he can date his canon love interest so he gets to be massively hated by people who ship what is essentially a crack pairing.

https://www.tumblr.com/taehyungfirst/752713921002143744/are-you-a-taekooker-im-really-curious-cause-you
imho anon is right to a degree, cause taekookers were rabid to disprove taennie, which made it spread even more, meanwhile when JK’s videos came out, they got very quiet, even now, they never bring up those vids, but they always bring up taennie to debunk it, when the best thing to do since the “breakup” news is just ignore those shippers cause they’re just as delusional as bts member shippers.
I personally believe delusional taekookers are the worst thing that could’ve happened to Tae, they don’t actually care about him, they just use him to project. A lot of them call him the worst stuff imaginable in their group chats, saying they would slap him and he should k word himself, and then pretend they got hacked and keep up the facade of “supporting” them both.
The worst ex-taekookers who bias Tae have said is that JK isn’t actually a good friend, or they’ll just stop talking about JK at all, meanwhile 100% of ex-taekookers who bias JK turn into akgaes and drag Tae.
Like the pipeline from army to shipper to akgaes is scary as hell, and it’s usually Tae getting the short end of it with all pairings. They love shipping the other members with him to uplift them, but will drop him at the first inconvenience.
Delusional tkkers that drop Tae at the first inconvenience, or worse, that pretend to token stan one of them just for the sake of the ship ARE the worst breed. I’ve seen too many of them and it’s embarrassing… you go search on the acc and it’s full of old tkk tweets while now they’re balls deep in akgaes space. No shame? No job? No life?

People aren't as strong as you think. They need the church and nobility to protect them.
Lmfao. I'm proud of the writers for this one, I assumed Edelgard would go on an unhinged rant or something but nah, our girl stayed calm & rational while Dimitri sounded like someone who just started trying to have a political ideology better than "all the Bad People should die because the voices in my head demand it."
Of course I finally had to kill Petra, and Hubert. RIP in peace. And Myson? I assumed he was an Eagle Among Lions oc xD
I am shocked that I've managed to come all this way without hearing about HEGEMON EDELGARD. Whaaaaat Edie gets a sexy monstergirl transformation!?! Argfjfhghfhxj this is amazing. The pain of enduring the Azure Moon route was worth it to witness Edelgard's metroid prime 2 boss form. I love her.
😭 and then she could barely slap at Byleth for 4 damage cuz even now she's hopelessly in love with my evil ass, that was such a good touch. Like Sif's limping attack but for the lesbians.
I appreciate how the end continues to twist the expected tropes. Of course the heroic king will offer mercy to the evil witch, of course she'll treacherously try to stab him... but she never offered surrender, and she fights to the death because she cannot stand to live in the world she was brought up in. I'm sure hell will be a gayer time than life, rest in peace baby 😭😔
My proposal to Dorothea was wonderful and made me think about my partner, but I must say. Her words about how she doesn't have money, or power, and am I sure I want her? Ring a bit hollow when, just before, I was declared the new god-empress archbishop. I am now a bigger tyrant than Dimitri. I suppose her goal was always to marry into wealth, and she'd have to compromise her ideals to do that, so maybe she can have peace with the person she's become.
I'm glad Ingrid could avoid marriage by chilling with Seteth, good for her, but why is that an AM exclusive end? This is the route that should force her into marriage, that system is what the whole war was about. But I'm happy for her.
I got the Dimianne ending, and that ship is growing on me tbh. Something something feeling like a monster that's unworthy of love and all that, and suicide avoidance pacts. Although again, Dimi needs to marry a cis girl to keep the bloodline going and I just cannot force myself to see Marianne that way, so, this still doesn't work imho.
Felix & Sylvain are together ofc. Mercedes & Dedue, Ashe & Annette, & Cathmir. All good pairings I guess. And Gilbert's still a shitty dad 🤣
Maybe when her wife and most of her friends are in the ground, the archbishop will gather arcane relics & all her inner strength to muster one last ritual. A massive effort, to turn the clock all the way back to when Sothis first woke within her... after I play a different game though
Hmmm I forgot I was supposed to be chronicling Dimitri's descent into madness. In my defense all my time on my phone has been spent reading fe3h fanfics. This is a good fandom to join just as the estrogen Feelings kick in. Marianne has been promoted to best girl.
A few thoughts in no particular order. Dimitri keeps getting worse lmaoooo he's actually just a Khornate warlord now, rip. I'm very curious to see how his redemption goes. Seteth is really growing on me. I assumed he was just Rhea's lackey but, I'm getting the sense that he's been like "wtf did you do to the mortals, Rhea, this is fucked up." His failed attempt to help Ingrid free herself made me cry a bit. But, at that point, Ingrid's continued dedication to serving her family is her own fault. Alois is charming but not enough to overcome how annoying he is, and if he flirts with me one more time I'm gonna go hook up with his wife. And I adore Shamir & Catherine, though Cat's still a zealous bitch who doesn't deserve Byleth or Shamir, lol.
The actual plot has kinda blurred in my memory. Aillel was a neat introduction for what'll turn out to be ancient high tech WMDs, and it's pretty cool how they ask me a strategic question only for Dimitri to overrule & make us do the reckless thing. My choices don't matter... in service to the plot & character development! Neat

okay I have been. holding this in for so long
my feelings on Della Duck
okayokay I recognise that I am biased bc of my daddy issues, I am in no way denying that - this is not fact, just 1000% my OWN personal feelings on Della and her character in the reboot
idk how to add the read more I’m so sorry
so basically. I don’t like her. as you could probably tell. BUT I WANT TO SM. SERIOUSLY. LIKE SHE’S SPUNKY, SHE’S HILARIOUS, HER RELATIONSHIP WITH DONALD IS EVERYTHING TO ME
but the way her basically abandoning the triplets is never explored properly, and how she takes over Donald’s role as main caretaker, never addressing the extreme responsibility of taking care of children (even with Scrooge, who is still notoriously difficult to work with) that was dumped on them, even unintentionally
I think her arc could’ve been SO good. women are never allowed to make mistakes and own them in media. like Marinette in MLB being a huge creep never being addressed. or Wanda Maximoff barely getting a slap on the wrist after enslaving an entire town
I don’t think Della is a bad person, as we see she really didn’t mean to leave her family, but like. even if it was a mistake, she still went on that rocket ship. no one bribed or forced her (even if Bradford pushed her towards it, he didn’t hold a gun to her head to step onto the ship) but she still did it, KNOWING SHE HAD EGGS AT HOME.
and if they just ADDRESSED all this shit in the show, and at least had her realise how much damage she caused, even unwittingly, I would’ve been more lenient
her being a bad parent being somewhat explored (barely imho, she just releases a monster and they fight it together and wow we’re fine now) and the expectations Dewey puts on himself to be a badass adventurer, or Huey being pressured to leave his comfort zone, or Louie not connecting with her at all, all these issues could’ve been genuinely good arcs, but they’re all poorly handled in my opinion (except for Dewey, I do like the episode where Della tells him he doesn’t need to be some cool explorer for her to love him, ONLY THAT ONE THO)
don’t even get me started on the time travel shit with Louie. yes he should’ve been punished, but with all the extenuating circumstances, IT SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN DELLA, and it CERTAINLY SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN LEAVING HIM IN AN EXPERIMENTAL DEATH TRAP WHILE THEY RUBBED SALT IN THE WOUND BY GOING ON THE ONE ADVENTURE HE WOULD’VE ACTIVELY LIKED
and how all the issues with Donald how they immediately reconciled and (at least onscreen) never talked abt everything (or ANYTHING tbh) and instead just “omg we miss each-other and that makes everything okay yay”
anyways that’s a very condensed version of all my shit on Della Duck.
tldr; she could’ve been so good, if they just put more time into unwrapping her and having her basically redeem herself
if I ignore all of that tho, I can mostly enjoy her in episodes. the mermaid one, absolute comedy gold when she’s doing the tic tac toe thing, made me choke

Ask game, my beloved: 3, 6, 7
Also, happy birthday once again!!
3. Are there any fics that inspired you to write what you do? I already answered this but its been 11 days so who cares! "Lilac and Lush" by Aicosu is a masterclass of slow burn and mutual pining that I hope to one day even be half as good as. She truly just understands what those tags actually mean and I love her for it
6. How do you find new fic to read? Where do you primarily read fanfiction? AO3 is the only fanfic site imho. I've read older Dramione on ff.net and (while the app fucking slaps) it's otherwise a miserable experience, especially trying to find new fic. I would rather eat a bucket of hot, rusty nails than read a single paragraph on wattpad In terms of finding new fics, for everything other than Dramione, I just search by the ship tag, exclude crossovers, show completed fics only, and sort by kudos. For Dramione I suffer and then read whatever my friends are freaking out over because they've all got objectively good taste.
7. Do you prefer to read short fics or long fics? Long. Obnoxiously long. So long it impedes my sleep schedule and leaves me groggy the next day.
Thank you for the ask and the birthday wishes :blushycat: I'm love u.

whats 'the clip' and knifetrick?
Augh. Under the cut for shipping discourse and p/dophilia ment (nothing graphic or specific). Gets long bc I discuss my thoughts on DSMP shipping in general. You are setting me up fr anon
Some quick vocab -
intimacy here is used to refer to. Well. Any kind of intimacy between characters, of any sort, as an umbrella term /r, /p, and /qp here are used as shorteners to denote "romantic," "platonic," and "queerplatonic," both as adjectives And as verbs ("to /r" = "to portray romantically") shipping here is used to refer to any focused examination of intimacy between characters
And some clarity that Should follow from the essay next but may not - """anti-antis"""" and RPF writers delete forever
The Clip is from one of if not the? most recent Discord stage(s) Mr Live has done (which I missed when it was live RIP) wherein he issues a hard ban on shipping him ("do not ship me, in any way, with anyone!") which would less influence c!beeduo (which has been portrayed/stated to be romantic AND nonromantic both conflictingly for a while until being confirmed unconfirmed several months ago, that being the last was heard) without its direct invocation if he hadn't also cited for the reason as being underage ("'Cause, one, it's straight up pedophilia") which is! a) immediately applicable to At Least his DSMP character, Partially and b) while not Strictly True (should b obvious that portraying a relationship within the bounds of what it is in canon and in a nonsexual way is not That, and /r-ing c!beeduo etc was possible to do Appropriately again by remaining w/in the bounds of canon) is Clearly Indicative of the fact that baggage-wise it IS associated with people being fucking creeps
This Really complicates things bc like okay the apparent solution is "lol just don't /r it" but it's really like. A Worse issue than that bc like.
Okay the reason shipping in terms of fictional characters is a Different Bar is bc it's an examination of Intimacy and certain lines exist in certain dynamics of intimacy that Isn't Shown (which is the whole Within The Bounds Of Canon thing) which is important in a medium like DSMP because of the smaller gap + more personal relationship b/w character and streamer. Examining intimacy beyond th bounds of the consent that has been established in that regard is Weird at best and Violating And Creepy more often and, As Mentioned In Ranb's Stage, Literally Evil at worst
Which is why writing abt like. QPR or platonically intimate Techno and Philza (characters) is smth that is fine because that's smth that has been shown and repeatedly stated onscreen; it's in the bounds of canon n thus within th bounds of what the streamers've consented 2 be done with their characters. But writing T3chza making out or whatever is fucked up because it's smth that's beyond those consent barriers
And the thing is right
Slapping a /p on T3chza makeout doesn't. Make it less violating
Like what you CALL romantic is not the measure or whether it's past those barriers yk? And if it's indistinguishable, if it's in extrapolative territory that is Past The Bounds, it Does Not Matter how much you /p it EVEN IF IT IS TECHNICALLY PLATONIC y feel? Like at the end of the day placing a moratorium on some/all forms of shipping is placing a moratorium on certain examinings of intimacy
And okay 2 go back to Mr Live and his character. What it implies taken in context w/ older portrayals of c!beeduo and said by invoking smth that both evokes Really fucked up baggage (that does unfortunately exist btw I'm sorry if you didn't know that but People Really Do B Fucked Up Abt Beeduo) AND applies to his character is a revocation of consent to examining deep intimacies:tm: with his character, which is gonna apply regardless of the nature of that intimacy (even if nonromantic)
Like I don't /r c!beeduo myself, do not, never have, but I talk to people who have and have consumed content where they r background /r; I also don't think it matters. Like I don't Actively /r it and I don't Actively Not /r it because imho w/ the intimacy regarding c!beeduo that is plot relevant and character important whether that intimacy is /p /qp or /r doesn't really matter. I don't consider myself Less of a c!beeduo shipper than someone who /rs them because that would be dumb as hell and while none of the content I've made* is Intrinsically or Intentionally /r it certainly can be read tht way as much as it can be read /qp or /p. It's be dumb and hypocritical of me to like, dunk on ppl for /r-ing c!beeduo when I'm also invested in these two and my tonetags r not gonna suddenly Delete the picking apart I've done of the dynamic @ hand
Which Has Been. Within Bounds Of Canon. It's been what's been shown (sometimes to my great distress. There is a reason that the :canon_beeduo: emote looks the way it does) Directly Onscreen and in general keeping with the tone n intensity/directions of what they've Done With The Characters
HOWEVER
As mentioned up there. Revocation of consent
It makes. Full sense 2 me that Mr Live wants to place a moratorium or fullon ban on shipping his characters perhaps where he wouldn't have before because of the Unfortunately Very Extant trends of people being Fucking Weird about shipping his characters AND of using them as a Thinly Veiled Excuse to ship HIM, which. I should not have to explain why shipping real people is fucking abhorrent
THIS creates a problem which is a. Bit of a vacuum in interacting with what is a facet of c!Ranboo's arc, decision making, and character. Like you CAN have c!Ranboo w/o cbeeduo but you Can't Really have his plotline without examining c!beeduo. And as I mentioned earlier: even if your examination of c!beeduo is fully platonic, the significance of it To the plotline means that any examination of it and its relevance to the plotline and characters IS gonna be an examination of intimacy, which. Regardless of it's platonic, Is Still Shipping
Unless some HARD retconning happens it leaves this like. Hole in an aspect of c!Ranboo's arc and decisionmaking and it's very. Uncertain? God. Fucking months ago I was already kind of :huh. Does he know what the fuck he's doing: irt c!beeduo and desperately wishing for things to be cleared up and now it's only That Much Stronger
NOW. KNIFETRICK, FINALLY
Knifetrick (or, as it’s actually listed, Bishop’s Knife Trick) is a fic about "Ran and Jackie from The Pit TFTSMP" in a "canon-typical ambiguously romantic relationship." As you can tell from the scare quotes, especially if you've seen me vague, both of these are, to put it politely, Doubtful. I've read the fic; I will not be sharing my opinions because that would be neither productive nor responsible (I will just say I can't recommend it and leave it at that) but I WILL say the following that Is relevant to the conversation:
Ran's and Jackie's characterizations respectively have very little to do with characterizations from The Pit, and bear a dollar-store-version resemblance to tropes and personality motifs found in ESPECIALLY fanon c!beeduo, especially later in the fic. I would not go so far as to say they are Intentionally Literally Ranboo and Tubbo but they are transparent expies and were clearly written at LEAST unintentionally w/ c!beeduo in mind (esp since. Ran and Jackie barely interacted in The Pit), and for a readerbase that, as far as I can tell, is HUGELY dominated by /r c!beeduo shippers. Like. Sorry. This is off-brand c!beeduo.
The dynamic between the two is pretty unambiguously romantic, also; despite what the fic's white knights claim, romantic tropes and implications/motifs/imagery from at LEAST chapter two, and is very much explicitly romantic by the most recent chapter.
FROM CH1:
"And now, with raised eyebrows and a pursed lip, the newly named General Jackie observes Ran in such a way that makes the enderman’s skin crawl. Ran reminds himself that this kid, as short and harmless as he may look, is trained to kill. [...] Jackie narrows his eyes and tilts his head a little, as if he’s trying to read in between every one of Ran’s imperfect scales."
FROM CH2:
"It makes Ran’s skin itch with discomfort. [...] 'That actually doesn’t explain much of anything at all,' complains Jackie, and he pops a few croutons into his mouth with one hand. 'Tell me what you’re thinking, pretty-boy.'
"Ran feels his face flush, no doubt mildly glowing green.
"Yes, that was the other thing. The unnecessary compliments to his physical appearance.
"They don’t happen very often, and don’t seem to have very much meaning or intention behind them— Jackie often speaks like an unthinking kid— but when they do happen… they’re embarrassing. [...] It’s annoying how the rug is pulled out from under his feet in these moments when he’s 'embarrassed'. Like the conversation see-saw has temporarily shifted weight in the general’s favor."
I am not going to include excerpts from Chapter 6 because it's just the entire chapter.
I WILL SAY, HOWEVER, STEPPING ON THIS SCORPION BEFORE IT STINGS: they are not written in an RPFy manner and I don't think there's any grounds, including Vibes, of accusing Knifetrick of being like. Closet truthing or whatever. Also, while I think there's certainly Some Weirdness ESPECIALLY around the reaction, the romance itself is Not written in any way I'd call weird or problematic pre-clip; it's nothing inappropriate or like Weirdly Fetishy or whatever. Knifetrick is not #problematic or anything and I don't have beef with like the concept of liking it intrinsically; if I thought it was like. Abhorrent I wouldn't be sharing excerpts lmao dhjfnhdsbvdnfjh. Hence: if anyone uses this post or anyth like it to send harassment or bad faith ANYTHING to anyone involved with Knifetrick I will hunt you down in the fucking night even if it WAS #problematic that'd be the LITERAL OPPOSITE of productive and as it stands it's Literally Not. Essentially: Knifetrick is a (questionably-written /mean) fic using Ran and Jackie from The Pit as a vessel for a large chunk of the dynamics and headcanons of fanon /r c!beeduo in particular
And again, I would not call it problematic in any way (aside from the disingenuity of the insistence that it's TOTALLY UNRELATED TO BEEDUO and TOOOTALLY WASN'T INTENDED TO BE ROMANTIC GUYS like own your shit please)... IF it weren't for the advent of The Clip, which is calling in2 question the Entirety of the problem of /r-ing any variant of c!beeduo or any of Ranboo's characters at all
I really do not have an answer for this tbh. I genuinely wanna hear from the streamer on this more specifically because I like,,, I got no clue where 2 go from here? Do I just consider an arc retconned? Was it an issue of speaking abt a troubling subject kneejerk wise and I'm reading too much in2 it?
I just. I dunno
Tl;dr (AT LONG LAST)
- The Clip is a clip of a Discord stage where Ranboo (streamer) loudly explicitly decried shipping in a way that implicitly applies to characters he plays - This would be all well and good but is rendered complicated by the plot relevance of c!beeduo, which does not stop being shipping if it's /p'd due to it still necessarily being an examination of a particular intimacy in a way that is in canon hard to distinguish the /p, /qp, or /r nature of - Bishop's Knife Trick is an AO3 fic centered around using TFTSMP characters as /r c!beeduo expies which is not a bad thing in and of itself unless it also is covered under this moratorium - Things remain unclear until and unless we get clearer word from streamer, but considering Mr Live seems to be allergic to clarifying anything abt c!beeduo this is doubtful
*very little if any of the content I personally have made 4 c!beeduo has been posted publicly, for related reasons. You May have seen it if you're in servers w/ me, depending on Which Ones

Chandlo?
How I feel about this character: LOVE THIS BRO. 10/10 WOULD IMMEDIATELY START A CONSISTENT WORKOUT SCHEDULE TO HEAR HIM ENCOURAGE ME WHILE I LIFT WEIGHTS.
All the people I ship romantically with this character: Is it legally allowed to ship him with anyone besides Snorpy? Is there a lawbook I can check somewhere?
My non-romantic OTP for this character: Chandlo and Eggabell are SO GOOD as friends, I really love how supportive his is of her but also how they have a quietly shared worry about being Enough for their partners. Also if you chat with Chandlo after the interlude where snaxsquatch shows up he’ll say he admires Beffica’s ability to use how people underestimate her to her advantage (i.e. recognizes her as a fellow member of team “people make shitty assumptions about my intelligence”) and I think there’s some really interesting friendship potential there? I think he’d be a really good influence on her in general.
My unpopular opinion about this character: Imho I get the vibe that his protectiveness of Snorpy has probably shielded Snorpy from the consequences of his own actions enough to prevent him from getting the experience of learning from his mistakes, an example being that it’d definitely be a contributing factor to Snorpy's casual disregard of other people’s boundaries (the journalist isn’t the only person he’s slapped a tracker on, after all) and while there’s no cruelty intended in that whatsoever it’s still ultimately an unkindness he’s doing to Snorpy.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I get the vibe that Snorpy probably isn’t as aware of Chandlo’s need for emotional support from him the same way he knows he needs it from Chandlo and while I think things are handled in a way that fits the characters I would have liked a scene of Chandlo having to talk to him about that. Chandlo can’t ALWAYS be The Support Guy, after all.
My OTP: see above
My OT3: AGAIN IS THIS LEGAL

Alright, so... this is the utterly self-indulgent essay. XD
For any non-Italian readers: remember the introductory note on my translation of Goofy and The Perfect New Year’s Eve Handbook? About Italian Goofy (Pippo) having a huuuuuuuuuge family? Well, everyone in this family is, ofc, either just as quirky or nearly as quriky as Goofy himself... which makes for a lot of interesting personalities. Like Goofy's cousin, Indiana Pipps. Or Arizona Goof, in English. Presumably to make the joke at least a little bit subtler.
... yes, "the joke" is that he's literally an Indiana Jones parody. Who happens to be related to Goofy and look almost exactly (or exactly, depending on the story) like him. He's an "adventure archaeologist" who spends most of his time scouring South American jungles for lost pre-Colombian temples full of traps and treasure, travelling through scorching deserts to find legendary Egyptian ruins, and stumbling into fantarchaeology/Ancient Aliens/magical/mystical relics. He's brave, smart, passionate, confident to the point of being actually a bit arrogant, kind of reckless and hotheaded, a little rough, rather snarky, and has a strong sense of justice... and a bunch of strange habits and quirks. Like his penchant from entering buildings from the window rather than from the door (because that would be too easy), his preference for sleeping bags over beds and tents over houses (though he does have a house just out of Mouseton... in a dangerous swamp complete with crocodiles), his dislike and distrust for city life in general, and his love for a particular brand of strong-flavored liquorice candies called "Negritas" that almost everyone else finds adsolutely disgusting. Through the years, he's fallen in love with a bunch of female characters (starting with Clarabelle Cow, or so the internet tells me... Goof guys trying to steal her away from Horace must be a bizarre family tradition) and he's had a bunch of female characters fall in love with him, as you can expect considering he's the Dr. Jones of the Mouseverse and everything. But none of these crushes has ever really gone anywhere... whether because of a bout of obliviousness preventing him from realizing his temporary sidekick had been head over heels for him the whole time (sorry, Martina), a misguided attempt to present as a more traditional academic for a nerdy professor who unexpectedly turned out to be really into the adventurer type, or fairy law forbidding him to marry his French fairy sweetheart (yup, that happened).
Ironically, his most constant and long-lasting is with his nemesis, Dr. Kranz. (Nope, no name given.) (Yes, this is going to be an "enemies to lovers" kinda thing... except with, like, A Twist. So if you don't like that kind of dynamic or think people shouldn’t like messed-up ships or anything like that, you'd probably better stop reading.)
Kranz and Indiana appeared together in Indiana's first story, Mickey and Goofy in: Raiders of the Lost Temple by Bruno Sarda, and have been chasing each other for one reason or another ever since. Kranz is an adventure archaeologist, too, but despite being (almost) as skilled and succesful at his job as Indiana, he spends an awful lot of time following him around and trying to steal his discoveries... most often by putting on some disguise, stalking him from a distance, and popping out of nowhere with a gun and a mocking smirk as soon as Indiana finds the hidden lost idol/treasure/artifact/city.
Despite some weird occasional foray into the world of attempted world domination, Kranz is (mostly) into the whole villain business for the money and the fame. The money because he loves luxury (especially fast cars and five-star hotels) and sells a good chunk of what he finds or steals to unscrupulous clients or outright villainous organizations to afford to live the good life, and the fame because he has a big ego and (somehow, still) a reputation as a respectable archaeologist that feeds into it... and he's always trying to overshadow Indiana, because he hates being always second best to him. Which is just as well, because Indiana hates his attempts to steal his own discoveries, his criminal activities, his utter lack of ethics, and his greed. Whenever they see each other without either of them ending up on the wrong end of a gun or tied up for the local authorities to find, they usually still end up at each other's throat anyway. Or at least, insulting and teasing each other the whole time.
Except... it wasn't always like that. Back in the day, Indiana and Kranz were actually students in the same college. And roommates (YES, "and they were roommates!"). And "inseparable" best friends who got along very well despite their differences and genuinely cared for each other. And after graduating, even adventuring partners, at least occasionally. Kranz already loved money and luxury, and Indiana had already started to develop his simpler yet more bizarre tastes, but they were good together.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's actually a recent mini-series about their college years written by Bruno Sarda himself, Young Indiana. It's pretty much a shipper's delight, as it contains high amounts of fluff, overdramatic (and suspiciously coupley imho) friendship drama with a happy ending, hugs, kisses, straight love drama taking a backseat as the focus stays firmly on the friendship drama, and a certain amount of foreshadowing of (angsty) things to come. But their old friendship was already an established fact before that...
Like in the story Indiana Pipps and the Return of Doctor Kranz, where Indiana ends up telling Mickey the story of how they parted ways and became enemies. Which was apparently inspired by something that happened in the Martin Mystère comics, but I've never read them so I wouldn't know. Long story short, Indiana and Kranz where on an expedition together when they unexpectedly found an absurdly powerful ray gun left behind by Ancient Aliens. As it turned out, by that point Kranz had already been in contact with a shady organization that would have paid good money for something like that, so he proposed they should sell the gun to them and share the profits of the sale. Indiana immediately opposed the idea, of course, being all like, "wtf dude idk about YOU apparently but I have morals and also a sense of professional ethics"... so Kranz knocked him out, took the gun, wrote him a note about how you shouldn't slap good luck away, and fled to the other side of the world, where a man from the organization would await him. But when Indiana woke up, he immediately started trying to track him, eventually ruining the sale right before it could go through and throwing the gun into the sea, where it would never be found again. At that point, Kranz swore he'd have his revenge on him by basically costantly tailing him and ruining his life and career, never leaving him a moment of peace.
Which he's sometimes been pretty succesful at, considering there's been a whole story about Indiana being so stressed due to Kranz appearing out of the blue to ruin his day, it turns into some sort of bizarre mania where he believes everyone and anyone is secretly Kranz in disguise. However, the same story also has Kranz being so stressed due to Indiana constantly foiling his schemes that he goes on a cruise to just forget about him and relax for a while... and ends up jumping off the ship when he mistakenly believes Indiana might be on it, too. So, that's a two-way street, I guess.
So, basically... friends to enemies, genuine affection being ruined by greed and ambition and turning into resentment and spite and straight-up hatred, a degree of mutual obsession and general unhealthiness. But that's not really all there is to their relationship.
There's also stories where they're forced to collaborate to reach the same goal and have to behave more or less civilly, or even where they choose to do so willingly and end up actually still being a good team. There's stories where getting good results while working together makes them behave almost amicably, as much as they're able or willing to. Stories where they acknowledge their past together, if not their old friendship, and even the similarities between them. Stories where they find themselves with someone they both look down down or hate even more than each other, and find some common ground insulting and snarking at them in-between doing the same to each other. Where they grudgingly help each other out.
And then, there's Indiana Pipps e il soccorso obbligato. The story I blame for getting me into this ship in the frist place, when I could be here reading and writing Scroldie or Dimeshipping or Donsy or Mickey/Minnie or literally any other of my Disney comics ships that people other than me actually ship.
In Il soccorso obbligato, Kranz gets kidnapped by some shady guys while he's working on a revolutionary archaeological discovery, except he's not been kidnapped and he's not actually close to finding anything that awesome, and it's all just a convoluted trap to get back at Indiana for laughing at him one time because he's terrible. But Indiana doesn't know that, and so he and Mickey rush to the rescue and fly to a whole other continent to find him...
That story really has everything. From Kranz coming up with a ridiculous and ridiculously cruel plan because he might be used to Indiana insulting him and mocking him but sometimes his former friend laughing at him and acting all superior and better than him still hurts, to Indiana actually falling for it and trying to justify to himself why he does, telling himself that after so many years spent (fighting) together there's a bond between them and he owes it to Kranz... and admitting he’s worried about him. From Indiana still remembering little details about Kranz and their past together and looking almost fond as he talks about them, to Kranz being both petty and obsessed enough to leave a journal full of insults to Indiana for him to find as a clue and setting his password to a mocking phrase about him (and Indiana, who should expect some stuff like that or at least be used to it, still getting riled up and planning on giving Kranz an earful when he finds him). From Kranz assuming Indiana would only come save him if he threw an imaginary fantarchaeological discovery into the mix because then Indiana wouldn't be able to resist his "archaeological curiosity", to Indiana considering said discovery more of a secondary concern and actually regretting and feeling almost guilty for mocking Kranz the last time they saw each other before the supposed kidnapping... and recklessly, unthinkingly running over a thin ice bridge over a gaping chasm just to get to him, throwing all caution to the wind even as he tells himself he doesn't even know why he's doing it. And the way they still KNOW each other despite everything that happened, maybe even because of everything that happened! The angst! The complicated, unspoken, repressed things! Being a softie and a sap, I'm always a sucker for "the hero and the villain actually have a bond and care for each other on some level even if it's not the healthiest or most normal thing"... but considering the history between these two? Though the story in itself is very fun and entertaining, it never fails to break my heart a little.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And in all honesty, I might end up writing fanfictions about them. Fanfictions full of angst and pining and conflicted feelings and "we were never lovers but oh god we could have been --- if you hadn't screwed up everything in the end, at least" college stuff with a mess of obliviousness and repressed feelings, most likely.

Fandom meme
@trumanjo asked:
Wkrp! For the fandom ask. :)
the character i least understand
Herb Tarlek, you need a slap upside the head, a divorce lawyer, and a therapist, in that order. (Though it makes sense that he got a lot of his mannerisms and maladaptions from his father's influence.)
interactions i enjoyed the most
A certain scruffy, dysfunctional DJ and a certain anxiety-riddled reporter/continuity manager, of course. :)
Also a) every time Jennifer calls Herb out on his bullshit, b) the long mind game between Andy and Mother Carlson, and c) gosh Arthur and Carmen Carlson are a cute couple. And Hirsch is always fun to watch with anyone.
the character who scares me the most
Lillian 'Mother' Carlson is a (very genteel, of course) dose of poison in a finely crafted bottle, metaphorically speaking. I've had to deal with a couple of people like her IRL, and the scary part is that no one tends to believe how bad they can get till the worst happens.
the character who is mostly like me
...I really wish the answer to this was 'Bailey,' but I've been forced to come to the realisation that it's Johnny. (Minus the dope-smoking and terrifically bad relationship history, I hasten to add)
hottest looks character
I think we all know this has to go to Andy 'Fanservice' Travis and his very fitted wardrobe. (Oh they absolutely knew what they were doing there.)
one thing i dislike about my fave character
Johnny, you might want to consider easing up on the substance abuse juuust a tad. (Although honestly it's understandable given his past, I mean...)
one thing i like about my hated character
You have to admit that Mother Carlson does have a certain amount of style (both fashion-wise and in her villainy).
a quote or scene that haunts me
'Who Is Gordon Sims?' -- Venus slowly, quietly, with that thousand-yard stare, telling Mr. Carlson the story of the atrocity he witnessed in Vietnam, such that you realise he's never told anyone about this before and that his entire life just kinda...broke in half...at the moment that event happened.
'An Explosive Affair' -- The moment the music on the transmitter feed suddenly cuts out and turns to static.
'Nothing To Fear But...' -- Venus and Andy and the gun, holy shit.
I had trouble watching 'Dr Fever and Mr Tide' -- I think the writers meant it to be much more played for laughs when they wrote it, and instead it's funny at first and then turns into this slowly creeping 'something is really seriously wrong here' story.
a death that left me indifferent
The Colonel's death, and Jennifer's subsequent grief, just sort of falls flat IMHO. (If the network had approved the Jennifer-centric ep leading up to this, it would've made way more sense, but they didn't and it never got made, argh.)
a character i wish died but didn’t
Mother Carlson could've gone feet up just fine...though she actually seems like the sort of person who'd live to be 100 just out of spite.
my ship that never sailed
IIRC one of the things they had lined up for a S5 was that Johnny and Bailey would've, definitively, gotten together at least for a while...
I like the idea of Jennifer ending up dating the advertising guy from the second-to-last ep -- he seemed really nice, and the concept of 'woman who guys constantly boggle over solely for her looks dating a blind man' could've been interesting.
