END NOTES: what did you think?! i’m really weak when stories do that thing where they take the beginning and then put it in the end but with a couple minor changes to show that there was development in the story. i also really do like this end cg too. it’s a bit less dramatic than the mad love one, but i think this very kiss is something very important to both alfons and kate. there’s just a lot of meaning behind it which makes it so quietly beautiful to me.

i would say, if mad love made my heart beat more and had me on the edge of my seat, blind love definitely just made me feel really… happy and soft inside. i’m really proud of how far they’ve come! i hope you enjoyed this story! it was really fun to translate as well, so i hope i could convey this 🥹🫶

He sometimes doesn't know where The Blade ends and Wyll begins. His hero-ness is a performance; not to hide ill intent, but to hide a broken man, to hide weaknesses and fears. It's who he is. It's always been a distant thing, a mask. It's who he thinks he must be. He loves freely and openly and will let anyone know it. He's only ever wanted to know he's loved. He still thinks his father's inability to trust or believe in him was all his fault. He still thinks that every bit of suffering he's ever experienced was all his fault. He thinks admitting to suffering would be disrespectful to the lives he's saved. He thinks he has to suffer or else his sacrifices were worthless. He thinks it couldn't be a sacrifice if he didn't suffer for it. He would take any suffering if it meant lessening someone else's. He is the first person to stand up for someone's life and safety, the first person to defend someone's worth and autonomy. He is the last person to do so for himself. He is of the least importance to himself.

He needs to be needed, because if he's not needed then what good is his power and the soul he sacrificed for the pact to get it? And if he can't be needed then he throws himself into the fray without hesitation because his purpose has always been to sacrifice himself so others may live. His life has always been one of sacrifice. His life has been recompense since the second he was born and his mother passed as a result. He saves lives to make up for it. It will never be enough to him. It will always be everything to those he saves. He just wants to be seen for who he truly is. He wants to be chosen. He cannot fathom that someone would choose him. He chooses others over himself every time. He has so much love for others. He thinks he must constantly earn love. He is shocked when someone simply loves him. He thinks he cannot love and lead at the same time. His only role model was a father who could never put his son before his city. He is capable of immense anger. He is capable of immense kindness. He purposefully chooses the latter; he works hard to not let his anger consume him. He stands by his friends in any battle, against any struggle. He stands against them if they choose to threaten lives. He holds on to those he cares about with bloody knuckles and teeth bared because loss has always been the hardest pain for him to bear. He has lost everything. He gives every part of himself to others. He cannot lose anyone else. He thinks he can do anything because he refuses to believe any alternative. Because he could not survive any alternative. He thinks his intent is as important as his actions, and so he must always intend to do the right thing.

He does not tolerate his boundaries being pushed or his father being disrespected. He tolerates any judgment because he thinks he deserves it. He defends his status as the Blade of Frontiers. He thinks the fear caused by his devil form is a fault of his own that he must work to fix. He hates the patriars and their farce diplomacy, their lethal hypocrisy. He thinks his father is infallible. He does not hold himself to the same regard as he holds everyone else. He thinks its okay if it only hurts him. Anything is okay as long as it only hurts him. He has to keep fighting to prove he can be a hero. He is so, so tired. He cannot for one second admit to wanting for anything, because once he starts he might not be able to stop wanting. He cannot accept that he deserves to not suffer, too, because if he does he might not be strong enough to continue suffering so others might suffer less. He might not want to suffer. He thinks he cannot regret any decision he's made, he cannot regret his pact, because it would be a dishonour to the good he's done with it. He thinks that saying he regrets his pact would be saying he regrets every life he's saved with it and he would never regret saving lives so he cannot regret his pact. He's accepted that his freedom will always be the cost of saving lives. He desperately wants to be free. His life has never been his own, to him. He thinks every choice he's ever made was his own, alone.

He is very complex. He simplifies himself to be easily accepted by others. People fall for it easily. He just needs one person to look closer. He's afraid of what they'll find if they do. He doesn't keep his cards close to his chest, he meticulously chooses which cards to hold at all. Which parts of himself are worth losing if need be. How much of himself he has to keep close in order to keep being himself. He has seen the worst that the world has to offer. He chooses every day to be kind, to see the best in things, in others. He chooses to care. He holds onto his pain because it's proof that he cares. There are several pathways that don't connect quite right in his brain which you'll notice after a few conversations with him. He is wise beyond his years. He is my favourite guy ever

OKAY SO... i've been doing some thinking about this crossover... and i've decided that sonic got kidnapped specifically because of his gauntlet. which ofc he's wearing again now that he's back in the satbk world.

but why did falin want his gauntlet? well... it's not that SHE wanted it, but she was told to get it. and sonic, the stubborn bastard, refused to give it up, so she ended up just taking him with it.

what's so special about the gauntlet? well, after sonic left camelot at the end of satbk, merlina gave up her goal of creating an undying world. but... wizards are peculiar things, aren't they? she spent all that time studying necromancy. all those hours laboring over ancient texts. even if she's not going to go through with her plan anymore, she still has the ego to preserve her hard work.

so, she split up her research. the spells she crafted are broken up like puzzle pieces and scattered throughout the satbk world... and one line of it, she had engraved on the inside of sonic's gauntlet. (for nostalgia? maybe. but she also knew the gauntlet would be protected within the walls of the castle.)

but yeah. falin was ordered to retrieve the gauntlet. so that's precisely what she did. as for why thistle wants it... well, he wants to reconstruct the spell of eternal life that merlina created because he believes it will bring back delgal. so he's on a mission to gather all the artifacts with her spell.

right. so, sonic and tails. sonic was summoned to the satbk world via magic portal (exactly like the last time he went there). tails got dragged along because they were standing literally right next to each other and of course tails is gonna follow him through the weird sketchy portal! they don't call him sonic's best bud for nothing, you know!

but who opened the magic portal??? well, it was merlina. sorry for the spoilers. she's currently "missing" in the land of camelot, and she doesn't greet sonic or tails when they fall through her portal. like i said in a previous post, there's about a day that goes by where everything is... normal... and sonic and tails get to explore the castle and converse with the knights and catch up on the goings-on of the world and stuff.

merlina's deal here is that she's working with thistle. in the first game, merlina appeared to be a good guy until it was revealed she was the twist villain. this time, she seems like the bad guy... until it's revealed she's actually trying to stop thistle. see, she knows power when she sees it. and thistle is a huge threat. so, she's working "with" him in order to find a weakness and stop him. that's also why she called sonic back to this world... because she knew she was going to need his help.

unfortunately, things didn't go as she'd planned. falin delivering sonic's gauntlet along with his DEAD BODY to thistle shocks her. but it's fine. she can work with this--she hopes. things get a little tricky when thistle wants to dispose of sonic though, and merlina has to come up with an excuse for him NOT to do that.

cuz she can't let thistle know that she knows sonic. that would make her look suspicious. after all, she summoned him to camelot IN SECRET to help her TAKE DOWN thistle. so, she claims that she can sense an immense power within sonic and that he might be "useful" to them... so they shouldn't let him go to waste. thankfully, this works. and thistle is like "ok slay" (not his exact words).

merlina revives sonic with the magic she's learned from thistle. sonic then has about 5 seconds to process coming back to life, seeing merlina, and also some other weird elf guy before said elf guy steps in and turns him into a chimera using a bottled monster soul.

merlina also wasn't expecting this, by the way. but she's a very "ends justify the means" type of person and that hasn't changed. so, she promises to succeed in stopping thistle as she watches him turn her friend into a monster before her eyes.

in case if you aren't aware of how obsessed i am with king hippo i have: 1. made a sona to selfship with him 2. drafted a slowburn between said sona and hippo, its still a work in progress. 3. made concepts of hippo island, including its island shape, culture, nature, species and more 4. made concepts of a petroglyphic hippoan language 5. made hippo parents. No he's not adopted in my hc :P 6. Gave hippo an entire past that im still writing out.

Hippo is endlessly fascinating to me because of how many possibilties there are for character expansion. We get little about him, and yet there's still enough to supply the appetite (or i might just be autistic.) He underestimates Little Mac initially, and when he does, he doesn't even seem mad he lost, just to name an example.

OUTSIDE OF ALL THAT THOUGH... i just have a weakness for characters that get characterized not through dialoque but through other means. Ofc hippo is not the ultimate example of this (his entire lore is just. Guy who eats a lot and puts a manhole cover on his stomach), but still !! It's not often you get nonverbal characters in media. Aside from that, he just has the most outstanding design in the entire game. Scary to most, but my cute little hip hip to meee :3

SIGMUND THE FRAULEIN PULLER MY BELOVEDDDD... He's traumatized, he's got a hot voice, he's got the cutest lil moles, he's great with children, He's a MAMIE'S BOY... ok that last one is more of a hc, but let's be real, why else are we all here ?? :P Either way, he just has so much history to him, or at least as much as a punch out character can have. Super Macho Man

Yes i know castle aka my sona is portrayed as hating macho, but this couldnt be further from the truth. i LOVE THIS MAN. i LOVE TO HATE HIM. He's literally such a gd cocky bastard who's constantly spouting the funniest gd lines in the game. I'll never be macho bc I can't afford lines that good.

Also the intepretations that he's lying about his age which is why his hair is silver are so funny to me. All in all, hilarious character, definitely THE funniest one. 1000% deserves the top meme status.

Bear Hugger

OH MAN THIS SWEETHEART AUGHHH... where do i even beginn... i cant be the only one who like. wonders if this man has some rage that he keeps hidden? Like looking at how nice and jolly he is, in contrast to his TD cutscene where he is angry with mac... plus, when mac accidentally punches his squirrel away, n hugger cries afterward ?? who's to say he wouldn't be Pissed after a while.. either way, hes similarly also rly funny. imagine threatening a teenage boy in the goofiest way (NORTHERN LIGHTS, EH??), laughing and then immediately napping. Peak character interaction ghgh.

In short, he's just really sweet, funny, i love that hes an animal lover, i love his bushy beard, they knew what they were doing calling him bear hugger bc YES i wanna hug him plz n thank u

Disco Kid

ANOTHER SWEETHEART HAS HIT THE RING. i just LOVE this guy's energy. He's another boxer, like king hippo, who's not mad at all at mac when he loses to him. Additionally, his friendly teasing is just so gd adorable, how can you not love this guy tbh...

Lastly, I love music based boxers so much. I think what could've elevated disco to an even higher level, is if he had like a move that u had to avoid on the beat of the music or something. Other than that, he's GREAT i wanna give him a platonic smoochie. He just seems like the type of guy who'd make friends with everyone and wants to try everything, even if he sucks at it, like Pippi Longstocking

Glass Joe

Many have said it more eloquently than I can, so I'll keep it brief (HA); he never gives up despite his horrendous win/lose ratio. He's a goofy, charming guy w/ an attractive voice (fr, you wouldn't expect a guy like him to have THAT deep a voice, at least I wouldn't.)

While yes, he is hilariously patriotic, he also breaks some stereotypes of his people, which i find a rly funny aspect of his character (i.e he's shown to be a nice guy while the french r stereotyped as rude, he doesn't surrender etc). Finally, I love his stupid emo hair. That is all, thank you thank you. ily joey.

Don Flamenco

DONNIE BOY !!!!! Ik i sound like a broken record but. attractive voice, funny cartoony shenanigans, i LOVE his KO animation so much. Also, a layer to his personality that I simply adore, is how, despite how cocky he is, he still compliments mac when he avoids his punches (saying "bien viesta" or "bien hecho"). He's got his sense of fair play !

Also, i think we can all agree that his transformation from an overly confident spanish flag colored guy to a sourpuss all black emo is peak comedy. I know the Wii game is nothing but bangers in the comedy department but this has got to be up there with macho jiggling his ass in the camera.

Bald Bull

He's so sillyyy, everyone always forgets this. he does a fucken chicken dance when he wins in contender mode. Aside from that, he's just a very intruiging character. He's obviously stressed n angered from the paparazzi hounding him 24/7, but outside of them, he isn't a very angry person at all. He even isn't mad that he lost to mac either, instead training harder to combat his weakness.

Plus ! I feel like the creators of the Wii game very cleverly made the decision to make him hounded by paparazzi, bc that also ties in perfectly with his secret Mask X persona. In short, Bull is awesome.

Soda Popinski

i LOVE how delightfully strange this man is, and how adorable he is despite being a man who. does have his fair share of anger issues. Like Bull, it's just so cute how he dances when he wins, and even juggles in TD, all while bubbles appear around his head ! I wanna edit him to some hard bass music tbh, he'd be perfect for it.

At the same time, I can't help but fire the Angst Beam at him bc like. what r those scientists doing to him... It just makes me Wonder if he has a choice in the matter at all... BUT ending on a lighthearted note, he has a rly funny, pitiful reaction to being star punched in contender mode, and i like his stache. hes like a kitty. To Me.

Piston Hondo

Hondo is one of those characters who has that perfect blend of seriousness and goofiness. He can outrun a bullet train. he reads sailor moon in the ring. he (if you intepret him that way) gives mac advice during intermissions by referencing ancient Japanese proverbs. he calls out for sushi when he gets knocked down.

Another reason why Hondo is great is bc his win to lose ratio is literally 26-1 before he fights mac, meaning he has only ONE loss before mac beats him. It really gives you the vibe this guy is in his prime and the real deal, despite "only" being in the lower major circuit. It really gives you the vibe he'll climb in the ranks, which i think is an awesome, subtle piece of characterization.

Gabby Jay

LISTEN OK... Hes probably my favorite SPO character, mainly bc of how little info we have of him, and yet how much is implied with said little info. Like. He's gotta be a little insane in the noggin right. He literally gave up his job as a café waiter to become a boxer at middle age. As the poster describes it "something snapped." Imo this implies he just got so tired of dealing w/ unreasonable costumers that he channeled all his anger into boxing. In short, I think he's mad interesting despite how little we know about him.

Plus! He says an old man who says YAY as a taunt... doesn't get any better than that. He's adorable.

Mad Clown

First of all, this man is an enigma. what do you MEAN he was an opera singer, has had a mental breakdown, joined the circus and then quit to take up boxing, AND HES ONLY 27 ????

Secondly, and yes this is once again very hc based, I think this man, since hes a palette swap of bear hugger, would have a circus bear as a coach, and that his bear is one of his only friends, which probably adds to his tragic character. Thirdly, eventhough I wish his outfit was more orthodox, it is VERY cool having a clown boxer in the lineup (spoken like a true clown liker), esp one with such a colorful past, befitting his outfit. He's just so sillaayyyy.

Great Tiger

This guy is literally SO much fun, it's a shame i don't rotate him in my mind often enough. I feel like he'd b great to have at parties. He has a nice voice as well, I feel like he'd do well as a radio presentor or smth.

WHICH REMINDS ME !! the wii commercials !! "send word to my mother; i am in jail" showstopping, peak comedy, life changing. Also the idea that he is just. blisfully unaware of his own weaknesses or maybe even his faults is an interesting character trait that i feel like people should explore more, its interesting !! Lastly, i LOVE how his own clones talk to eachother, that reminds me sm of my own stimming as an autistic person. I like your funny words, magic man.

Dragon Chan

Initally, i didn't rly get the hype for him, but recently I've gotten it more now !! I rly like his hair and his gimmick is funny as hell. Plus, I like to think since's based on both bruce lee and jackie chan, that hes an actor !! Think about it; what if he choreographed the fights, directed the movies n wrote them ?? it adds a whole new dimension to his character !! Anyway, Dragon is cool asf.

Hoy Quarlow

The fact he calls you sonny is so gd funny to me. I love mischivious old people characters, they're always so hilarious. Also, someone please take this man out of the boxing ring, who even put him there. He barely resembles a boxer outside of his boxing gloves. Im pretty sure the guy isn't even an actual boxer n just decided to enter the ring to fuck w/ people. The man's gotta do smth on his retirement age !!

Either way, he's p unique to me as the oldest boxer w/ no palette swap, even if hes also rly unfitting for the game.

Bob Charlie

His name is goofy as hell first of all, and secondly, again, i love the idea of music boxers. u cant tell me bobby n disco wouldnt be friends.

Also, I know it's just a reused sound bite from gabby jay, but the fact he goes "yay!" when he wins by KO is so cute to me ghgh. In general, he has a rly funny voice, despite how limited it is. Charles Martinet is the king fr. Also I like that he has purple n red in his palette, it's a nice combo.

Mr. Sandman

He has a cool voice, some great lines, and is, despite his looming figure, kind of a goofball (him going "BOO!") in the ring. Despite that though... I just don't find him as interesting as say, my faves, because he isn't as cartoony as them. I know they wanted to make him more serious as to make him a more threatening final boss, but even then he's just.. kinda dull imo. He's higher on this tier cause he has more going for him than the last two, but eh idk. just wish he was a bit more interesting.

Piston Hurricane

I think his gimmick is really cool, i love the idea of elemental boxers. the execution is rather dull, however. I do like his haircut n colorscheme tho !!! As u might know, i've also made a redesign of him, wherein i give him swirly corn rows, which i thought was a cool nod to his wind element. Don't have much else to say. He's just missed potential.

Narcis Prince

Look... I can see the hype for him. hes a very funny, attractive (I GUESS... i just find him basic looking) character, but hes just not for me at all. the outfit is what mostly throws me off, he looks like a basketball player who dressed himself in the dark 😭😭😭in general SPO has a huge probem w/ overdesigning their characters and Not Really making them look like boxers, but man he has got to be one of the most egrerious examples... That said, he is funny at least so he's got that going for him. I love his asshole laugh, but thats ab it. if he had appeared in Wii n received more characterization, im sure he would b up there w/ aran in joe in levels of popularity.

I just finished binge reading your fanfiction and WOW. I have no words. (Actually I have a lot of words but I digress.)

First of all, objectively speaking, the writing is PHENOMENAL. I feel like this is just standard praise but I truly do mean it when I say that it’s GOOD. Like—good-good. There’s a nice use of evocative language and a blend of “complex” (rather I’d argue descriptive) verbs and adjectives, and also, the speaker tags are AMAZING. I personally struggle with using the “said” speaker tag too much and I notice many fic authors do too so it’s not a major grievance of mines (if any grievance,) but when it came to reading caged lungs the speaker tags were always new and very very (that’s two verys,) contextually sound. Like you did your research. I was on call with a friend praising your work and it really truly does stand strong after finishing the whole thing (as to date. you know?) . Not sure if this was intentional but I did notice the speaker tag “crowed” show up a lot, and it’s really ironic considering the motifs of being a bird in a cage, (I LOVED the analogies by the way, about how a caged bird was better than a dead bird and -oh my gosh!!! It’s just SO good!!!!!) and crows are..well…….birds. Also find it nice that you use CROWED out of all of them in the context of things—yes, I do know why—to make a comparison to a crows cawing and their vocal inflection HOWEVER, crows, as the animal, are clever and smart but social animals. They’re very quick witted and remember when they’ve been wronged. They’ll let their crow buddies know and it’s just a whole thing. I just really liked that detail even if it was completely unintentional. Also the tonal shift really hit me in the SHIN here. Going from Leo saying “peedrunner.” With no hesitation to —the absolutely heinous stuff (/pos) that I read is so JARRING but it works well in your favor. Speaking of jarring!!! REPETITION! You used repetition so masterfully in your work it was making me ANXIOUS to read it. It’s so. Tastefully done. Well done. I love this.

That’s in terms of writing though, in terms of the STORY!??? AWESOME AS WELL. Holy shit. You really just boiled Donnie down right to his bare characteristics, his weaknesses, it was . CRAZY.(in a good way.) the juxtaposition of everything with Donnie v. Which town and this whole fic is. So good. Good feels like such a redundant word to use. Spectacular? Stupendous? Prodigious? Savant-esque? You get the gist.

This is also a more personal reason why I like this, but autism is depicted so so so well in this. Idk if you’re autistic YOURSELF and it would honestly make so much sense but either way—thank.you. This is such an amazing depiction of how debilitating autism can be and it really spoke with my own experiences. 10/10 fic. I only have minor criticisms but otherwise this is beautiful. You are an insanely talented author and I can tell you put in the EFFORT to perfect your craft and it is worth it. I was up till 4 am reading it and it was well worth it.

- water is like alcohol to him/other xylitols. it makes him drunk GXHNFKFJ they dont need to drink water to survive but they do have it as a Fun drink sometimes which is why astronaut was still able to stay hydrated (they were very confused when she drank tons of water and was Just fine)

- xylitols also require light to live!!!!! when in darkness they have a faint glow (think glow in the dark toys. not very bright but still There) :] when they are without light for too long they become very sick, weak and drowsy and lose their glow. this is why planet xylitol is so brightly lit!! they NEVER have their lamps off so its always super bright (yes astronaut struggled to sleep)

- relating to above, xylitol nova glows just a little bit brighter than other xylitols + features like his eyes, wings, and the lines on his face glow!!

- also relating to above he is NOT used to being in the dark so when he went to earthbread and experienced an actual day/night cycle he was TERRIFIED he could not see anything </3 peepaw is like a moth if its dark and theres a little bit of light he will cling to it

- despite being a technological genius hes so advanced that earthbread technology is confusing to him. how do you turn on the computer?? do you not turn it on with your mind??? /silly He has to be taught how to use a lot of more Basic technology. especially things like light switches and sinks since [gestures to above] they dont really exist

- xylitols body temperatures are naturally very cold :] i dont rlly have a specific temp but theyre a lot colder than earthbread cookies so the planet is very cold! its constantly kept in regulation so the whole planet is kept at the perfect, cool temp. which not only benefits the xylitols but their tech too since its not at risk of overheating 👍 they also dont have anything such as blankets and fans since. why would you want to be any hotter or cooler? the planet is kept at a perfect temp all the time!! (poor astronaut.)

- relating to above AGAIN XN was not having fun his first time on earthbread. So warm in certain places and during certain seasons </3 both him and his cybernetic parts were overheating since he never had any reason to install cooling fans or any sort of temperature regulation. get this old man in a freezer NOW!!!!

Just dropping in because I saw a Tweet that immediately screamed "hunger au!Grian" in my mind, and I needed to share.

Your hunger au is one of my favourite fanfictions of all time, and I had a few planned asks about it that I'll send sooner or later, but for now I'll just say that I clicked on it for the Scarian but stayed for the worldbuilding. Your ability to worldbuild tickles something in my brain and I have all these questions and theories and general curiosity and... When I have the time to draw again I need to try and make fan art of it, 100%.

hello. it is walking up the walls like a spider anon. chapter 5 made me feel like [car crash noises] [cartoon spring sound effect] [train rushes by] /pos. the PARALLELS!!!!!!! ladybug and chat noir being possessive but in different ways...... im losing my mind. the inner conflict you crafted for chat noir is literally so good. like. he wants to sleep with her so bad. but he knows that if he does he'll be even more infatuated with her. and he is so afraid that it'll be a one time thing that he keeps putting it off. "His dreams are the only place where they've ever been in love" ? WRECKED ME. my eyes bulged out of my head like a cartoon character and i heard the BONK sound effect so vividly i may as well have heard it in real life.

like god. chat noir thinks that this is the only way that he'll ever be able to be that close to ladybug and KNOWS that it will kill him because he's a romantic and wants to share everything with her but he STILL goes along with it because (see above reason).

as always. the dialogue and descriptions are banger. you have such a knack for fast-paced, witty, dynamic dialogue that makes reading such an engaging experience. the flow is so great that sometimes i'll be reading, then look at my scroll bar in despair (😦) because i realize i'm nearing the end of the chapter. i'm spinning tvl ladybug and chat noir so fast in my head that i think i can become a new source of clean renewable energy. the way that ladybug is quick to figure out plans and chat noir is quick to figure out ladybug. like they both try so desperately to fix things but in different ways.

tvl chat noir’s inner conflict seems very confusing and convoluted to ladybug but it’s very simple really. he responds best and loses his inhibitions most easily WHEN she shows signs of yearning or potential feelings for him. aka when she gets jealous, when she reveals her desire to sleep with him ISNT reckless/she’s been thinking of it for a while/wanting it all for a while Blah Blah Blah and similarly he pulls away when he’s reminded of the fleeting, one-off nature of their arrangement, or when he’s aware that other romantic prospects exist in tvl ladybug’s life……… and he’ll keep doing this until he gets some form of confirmation or they come to an agreement about a more Indefinite arrangement

at the end of the day tho. he’s still Very weak for her. so if push comes to shove he could very easily Give In to her whims at the right moment, wrong time, etc etc etc

kung fu panda 4 review - spoiler free

it was solid, not as good as the first three movies, but the og triology set the bar so high even a 'not as good' movie is still a fun watch. The animation is beautiful and you get quite a bunch of awesome action scenes out of it

zhen is a lot more likable when not voiced by awkwafina (croatian dub saved me ✊️) but even that wont save her from her character being pretty bland. ironically the same criticism for her design could be applied for her character as well, not bad, likable enough, just fails to stand out and ive seen it done better a lot of times already

chameleon... oh boy... so much potential, such incredible built up, such luckluster execution... ill talk more abt her in spoiler section, but honestly she was the weakest link of the movie

dont get your hopes up for furious five, they only really exist as a cameo, what you will get is mr ping and li being a very married couple and personally if theres anything worth seeing the movie for its them (still im hoping for at least a short abt the furious five, cmon theyve been non existent since kfp 3)

the pacing was too fast, and there were too many comedic and too little serious moments, glad im not the only one that noticed

ive seen a lot of complaints about tai lung and other past villains not being in the movie enough, but honestly im happy for that bc its not their movie, they all had their own movies to shine and i really feared this movie would rely too much on them to carry the hype and im glad that wasnt the case. PLEASE stop asking film studios to spoonfeed you familiar content

the chameleon rant

you know, i believe the kfp movies are heavily carried by their villains. they're the ones that set the tone, bring the stakes, and not only are they a foe for po to defeat but represent his internal conflict (tai lung being self acceptance, shen being overcoming grief and kai being self discovery) so to have the villain be the movie's weakest spot is... not great at all

firsty, the chameleon is the first movie villain in the franchise to not have any beef with any of the main characters (like tai lung had with shifu, lord shen with po and kai with oogway) and that couldve been great, give us a villain that doesnt care about po or anyone else and is just doing their own thing, its something new and an unexplored territory, but then they do nothing with it.

what does she want? to rule the valley of peace? all of china? ok and then what? the city shes already rulling doesnt look like its doing too bad to me. why should i care about her being defeated? yeah shes mean, but where are the STAKES

and how does she reflect po's conflict? because its about accepting change and she's a chameleon? weak, that only connect on paper and only barely. is it how she was never accepted to train kung fu because of her size? that's such a lame motive. really? not a single kung fu place wanted to take you in for your size? in a franchise full of all the different characters of all different shapes and sizes being kung fu masters? yeah ok sure

what i did like about her is how they made her get her way through manipulation and intimidation. she's not strong, she's not a skilled fighter, she's not inherently scary, but she uses smoke and mirrors to intimidate people around her and manipulative tactics to get her henchmen to listen which ties nicely into her shapeshifting abilities, just wish theyve done more with it, show us how she spreads horror stories about herself, show us the influence she has over the townspeople, show us just how manipulative she is of zhen, hell have her be all kind and nice to her in moments to bait her to stay under her wing (yk as abusive parents do)

nothing much more i have to say so spoiler part was rly just abt the chameleon but i needed to rant abt her more in depth bc i had high hopes for her

; her character arc is really interesting because I think when you think " character arc " you think dramatic change something like Amity or Hunter etc etc BUT LUZ luz luz luz it's not that she doesn't not change ( because yes, yes she does ) but it's not a drastic change of heart, she doesn't suddenly become cruel and evil. she's always been a very carefree and joyful character but we see the effects of everything take it's toll on her, and we've all probably heard of / seen the Luz Effect ( Affect ?? ) where characters go from Sad > Better > Great whereas Luz goes more Great > Better > Sad whenever they start spending more time w Luz, including the whole Bad Guy to Good Guy arc. Luz is like a battery of niceness and is incredibly aware of this, she knows she makes ppl feel better and I think her want to try and succeed and help people + KNOWING she can is where her can do attitude comes from, or part of it. but she puts up this front of I'm Just Nice And Naive mask and it works. for the most part.

; and I relate to that, sorta, I'm not super duper nice but there's this amount of not wanting to be mean that you end up draining yourself so much helping these people. and it's not their fault but hsbshsbsy ‼️ she's also literally Weird Kid ( /pos ) central, I mean really they all are like weirdos but Luz is this special kind of weird and I love it it reminds me of me. she's so neurodivergent coded / is it canon it probably is canon I hope it's canon.

; but ALSO Eda because eda eda my lovely Eda. because she's SO MUCH like Luz if you think ab it she does what she thinks is right and holds a strong sense of morals and is resilient and a strong hold for friends and people she cares about and she's really freaky and often downplays her struggles and hsbshsbdhdv but ALSO she puts up this front of, instead of Luzs I'm js nice and naive, " I'm the best witch on the boiling isles and im super confident etc etc " and it's not like she isn't, she is a very confident person naturally but like anyone she has her insecurities but won't let those show. and whether that's because weakness can be taken advantage of and she's afraid deep down of getting close to people and ending up hurting them or herself orr because she feels the need to be this Rock that people look up to as cool but fear as intimidating because being not known and uncatchable is wayyyy easier than being known and vulnerable in her eyes. and hshsvsysv. she also flocks to the characters like a mother bird and snatches them up into her home like ohmg mother eda is real. her and Raine are the Parents and I love that, also don't get me started on Raeda I'll go for hours I love jshusscsg and Raine too they're a really cool character, I think I don't relate to them as much compared to other characters I more of js love them sm and also like .. the gender they radiate .. oh my god ..

; Hunter :] my bad but sad traumatized little furry boy RAHHHHH he wants so bad to do the right thing he's js so awkward, he has such a low ability to socialize and I love him he's so bshsbsg and his character arc his Big Change his Bad -> Good was milestoned by some horrible thing happening to him. he looked up to Belos, to his uncle his family, for his entire life and suddenly it all comes crashing down on him that he's a terrible terrible person and I think with that realization that this Saint can actually do harm is when he really realizes this Good Person is actually bigoted and abusive and etc etc and I think that's part of why he's so awkward, not just because he's had so little interaction w people his age ( any people really. people ) and knows nothing of any social skills but also because he's built himself around his uncle, he wanted to be Belos because he valued and looked up to him and when you suddenly find out this supposedly great person you look up to ?? is terrible ?? you feel this need to second guess everything you do because it's all Him everything kinda feels like a mirror of Him, every good or bad leads back to Belos and so now he's trying to like build himself a new personality away from Belos at age 16 ( 17 ?? ). S I X T E E N. He's gone through a really important growing aspect of his life where he's really so young and moldable and he lived it based around his abusive and bigoted uncle like. AH. his whole existence is a lie.

; also it's like even if [insert family member] in your life didn't yk, clone you to use you to mold you into the perfect helper to destroy a magical demon realm, he's still really relatable to that person you looked up to turned out to be Not Good and now you're stuck trying to like, figure out how to People with an extra serving of Trauma and Neurodivergence like. MY BOY..

; but like Luz, Eda, Hunter, Willow, Amity, Vee, Lilith, Mattholomule, Gus too, King .. all of these babies .. MY babies, they're me but also my children I just. sniffle. I love them.
