Okay. So. Anyone who's up to date and active on FFXIV will know that the first round of bidding for the new housing drop closed today and the results have been posted.

Well.

I GOT MY LOT.

I'm so excited. I thought it was going to be a really popular lot because it has a phenomenal view and is located right next to the travel crystal, market board, and summoning bell, and is a short walk away from the pools, but it turns out I was the only bid. I guess the Goblet isn't that popular anymore, but Ul'dah is where I started out and it's where my character is going to hang her hat.

I'm very excited to finish work and start building my forever home. First up will be the exterior-- gotta have the building before anything else, but then I gotta put in the garden plot(s).

The next thing you notice about miles is he is NOTT a good texter.

nonetheless, you work with him, trying your best to pick a day where your schedules to meet up.

“Dont worry about it, mami. Just be cute when I get there.” Miles’ voice rings out through the phone as you look for an outfit. You can hear the clicking of his game controller through the phone.

Its 12:00pm right now, Miles was coming to you meet you at 1:30

“Mkay.” You mumbled, putting different shirts up to your chest in the mirror.

“Ill see you when you get here.” You say, looking at the phone.

“nos vemos pronto, hermosa.” He says, hanging up the phone.

you take extra care while getting ready. You were not quite sure if this was a date, but spending the day with Miles still had your stomach in a twist.

You close the clasp on your necklace just as your phone dings with a text from miles.

You grab your bag, jogging through your apartment to the front door.

Miles bares a little smile when your eyes meet his.

“You look nice, ma” He says, stepping aside so you can lock the door behind yourself.

“Youre not too bad yourself.” You smile,

Miles leads you away from your apartment building and down the block. Its mildly warm outside, and the sun is out.

As you walk to begin to notice Miles’ hand continuously brushing yours. Then slowly his fingers crawl into your palm until your hands are clasped together.

You look over at miles, who is exaggeratedly looking at the sky and pretending to whistle with a goofy smile.

You giggle, holding his hand tightly.

You didnt even know Miles had a sense of humor.

“You feelin’ icecream?” He asks suddenly, pointing to an icecream spot on the strip.

“Always.” You reply, letting him lead you inside.

The place is cute, summer beach themed, and empty momentarily.

Miles smirks down at you as you browse all the flavors in the display case.

“What are you gonna get?” You ask, not looking away from the glass.

“Vanilla.” Miles’ answer is quick.

“What? Thats so borninggg.” You say.

“I havent really gotten into crazy flavors.” He shrugs.

You shake your head.

“Pick a flavor for me then.”

You look back at him, then at the case again.

You choose brownie for yourself, and cookies and cream for Miles.

And as soon as the woman behind the counter hands you the cones, Miles is at the counter, paying for the both of you before you can protest.

The two of you find a bench down the block to sit at afterwards, enjoying your ice creams peacefully.

“You like it?” You ask, gesturing to his icecream.

“Mhm, its real sweet.” He says

“Wanna try?” He extends his cone towards you.

You shyly take a lick from his ice cream, savoring the flavor thoughtfully.

“Its good.” You smile.

“Wanna try mine?” Miles doesn’t think too hard about it, pulling in a bit of yours with his lips.

His face scrunchs up for a moment.

“Yours is MAD sweet.” He says.

“You dont like sweet things?” You ask, turning to face him on the bench.

“I like you.” He says suddenly.

“But nah, im not huge on sweets.” He goes back to eating his ice cream

The two of you go to a park afterwards, spending the day outside.

Youre still there just as the sun begins to set.

“Its gonna be dark soon.” You say, staring up at the sky with your head in Miles’s lap. He was seated upright on the grass, you laid against him.

“Imma walk you home, ma.” Miles says, looking down at you, while you watch the sky.

“Gonna make sure there arent any more men following me?” You joke.

“That shit wont happen again, not while Ive got you.”

And he means it.

He keeps his hand in yours on the walk home, rubbing the back of your hand with his thumb.

When the two of you reach your door, hes giving you a pretty smile.

“Be careful, okay?” Miles’ eyes widen as you press a small kiss to his cheek.

“Im always careful.” He says, pressing his hand to his cheek

you give him a flat stare.

“Aight aight, not always. Mi mal, hermosa.”

You shake your head, wishing him goodbye with a warm smile.

WE!!! i always knew datz was there, in my heart, taking the photo... earlier, dhurke says "the three of us [dhurke, aj, yuty] living in the mountains", but clearly datz came by often enough. WE! WE WENT FISHING! WEEE!!! its just so easy to imagine... datz insisting they take a photo .. i cant take it... how many times was datz there. fishing w them. helping cook dinner and dealing w two rambunctious boys...crying

investigating the sign [sic] gives datz a chance to geek about how cool dhurke is. "his fame as a lawyer spread far and wide!" i'm sure that's how they intended for datz knows about dhurke's lawyer days, but again, i like to believe datz was his weirdgirl. he probably was the advertising campaign if we're honest 😭

now we're talking to datz directly again ^_^ asking him about the sahdmadhi law offices. "and i quote" is so annoying. i know he's doing a deep voiced impression of dhurke right there. Stop memorizing shit he says. Gay

then! he says dhurke mentioned he wants apollo to take over the offices one day...which cute and whatever, but this isnt abt dhurke's dadliness, this is about datz being such a FUCKING GEEK! he's talking to dhurke directly, right, so why are you gassing him up 😭😭 TO HIMSELF! HE'S DHURKE! "must've been because of you, dhurke!" he's too much of a good friend. he's convinced everyone thinks dhurke is as cool as He thinks dhurke is. it's insane. the fanboy behavior will never end

it's nice to see dhurke and datz interact too. we really don't see much of that in this game. dhurke always seems kind of understated with datz as compared to when he's being Boisterous Dad or Rebel Leader in public... how many quiet moments did they share together... just sharing news and shooting the shit...dhurke doesn't have to put on big leader charisma 'cause datz uplifts him no matter what. In stars and time is the recent food source of my brain eating amoeba and it Will Not Leave. before i get into why im rabid about it though ill give a brief synopsis . putting a read more here because i suspect this post will get LONG.

its a game about a classic rpg party on the last two days of their quest to save the country from The King who is freezing everything, including people, in time. the main character, Siffrin, is the party's rogue who, upon going into the House of Change (the game's dungeon so to speak) and promptly dying, finds out that they're trapped in a time loop. they're the only one who remembers repeating the last two days- aside from a star named loop who helps him try and figure out whats going on, why, and how to break out.

Now personally ive never been invested in a time loop story?? Im not sure if thats because i havent consumed much media thats implemented it before as its main premise or if i just havent been interested but i think in stars and time meshes the two different genres a time loop story can fall into really well (the mystery and the emotional conflict).

The mystery is what drives you through the game (and there are other questions unrelated to the timeloop about siffrin's origin and the world itself that i think handle a variety of themes like loss of culture and personal transformation really well but thats a different tangent) but the emotional parts are what really got me. You have to watch almost in the backseat as Siffrin is like. Slowly depersonalized from the people they care about. All while refusing to tell them anything about their misery because they don't want to burden them or drag them into his suffering. Even happy moments that Siffrin doesnt mind repeating become tainted because it becomes a matter of acting so that the "scene" doesnt stray from its path and his party doesnt become suspicious.

and yet they still DO, both in regards to Siffrin's World Alteringly Terrible Case of the Mondays and the actual time loop. they notice how tired and fake he seems. one of my absolute favorite scenes is one where you interact with a closet and it provokes a conversation about where Siffrin got their cloak from and how long they've had it, because its really one of a kind. it has temperature regulatory magic imbued in the stitches and is made to grow with him. And siffrin just cant fucking remember. not only because hes been looping so long that its created a haze over his mind but because he has no true "identity." and as he's scrambling to fill in an answer for this hole in his head, a gust of wind hits his face because one of their friends, isabeau, flapped his cloak while inspecting it to ground him. and he disguises it by commenting on the thickness of the cloak.

Getting this scene by accident on my playthrough made me feel so many feelings dude like . Siffrin isn't the only one trying to hide things. Their friends care about him so much and they try to disguise how concerned thwy are and its just. Im . Im Normal.

its not just about that though . Like if you start finding shit a little too fast they'll start catching on to whats happening. a little sound effect will play whenever you know something you shouldn't know and the others notice and whenever it happened i was like. Twisting in my seat waiting for them to call me out.

it all builds up into this really fucking painful emotional climax that i will not talk about because i don't want to spoil more than i already have but omg. I was writhing. It was. Hhhggnngh.hfg. Glass shards in ym mouth yummy

On the topic of shit i cant talk about: My favorite character is this fucking thing

I have held off from talking about loop's role in the story because i cant describe to you why they make me so ill. Not because i dont know Why but because it is something you should experience yourself. They're really charming and funny and their dialogue is fantastic. Of course that's part of the reason i lauve them but theres also the underlying secondary mystery of why they're here/who and or what they are/etc. And when u know. Its. I Cant Tell You. BUT ITS REALLY GOOD. ITS REALLY REALLY GOOD. Just know that if you get to the end and are still confused about them. That theres more than the main ending . AND IT IS PROBABLY WHY I AM SO INSANE ABOUT THIS GAME HONESTLY. I LOVE YOU FOREVER LOOP . im ok

In short: In stars and time is a game that is good and you should play it :) Im pretty sure its on sale right now on steam so yeah go get that.

So my initial thoughts on Black Myth Wukong are that it's VERY fun. The movement is snappy, the combat is satisfying, its a perfect blend of challenging and rewarding, and while Im not very far into it yet, the skill tree seems well thought out. I havent seen an option on it yet that I look at and go "but how often would I really use that?"

Moreover, your magic skills are all incredibly strong, and learning how and when to use them can make or break your stride. This game is OP done right; even if you lose a fight at first, its usually a simple matter of "oh I just need to do x next time" and bada bing bada boom, its joever. I have yet to come to a fight where Im frustrated over stupid mistakes or getting stuck on geometry or the camera. Every death so far has been fully deserved because I was being impatient.

HOWEVER

After beating the second miniboss (which is a delightful little sneaky tutorial on timing) I notice that the power you get from beating him (red tide) is a little....

Well...

Lets just say Ive beaten every boss up to the Whiteclad Noble by immobilizing them, spamming red tide, and then strafing/dodging until I could repeat, and every single boss goes down in two cycles of that. Its not that their mechanics arent different from eachother or anything, its just that its SO much stronger than base form, AND it applies burn, and that kinda chews through half of the boss's health bar or better in seconds.

The only reason Whiteclad Noble is different is that hes in water the entire fight, so burn doesnt work. But its still a case of just running circles around him waiting for your cooldown to finish up because if youre not right on top of him, he wont really engage until hes under half health. And even then, if you just switch to the poison form of almost exactly the same power (shorter duration but it creates what are essentially turrets), which you can unlock shortly before the fight.... its still just that easy.

Hopefully this wont last the whole game as I build out my mystery monkey more, but for now, I can safely say that overall the game is a riot. Id love to see a multiplayer mode someday.

I see him taking up a lot of odd jobs and sporadic minimum wage stuff but really i believe he was meant for the stage. shallow gravy never makes it big time but they get like the weirdest most random gigs ever and eventually they release a full album and everyone fucking hates it and hank gets called a nepo baby. which is true. but going beyond the music hank is always dressing up and playing characters and ofc there was the time he called himself destiny and refused to take off the strength suit you see where im going with this YEP Destiny is his drag name. and im imagining destiny playing shallow gravy gigs so she'd have a kinda gothy alternative amy lee aesthetic going on and she would slay.

in case you havent noticed I hateee that dermott joined OSI it just feels forced and his buzzcut is ugly. dont worry though I can fix this. the thing about dermott is that he talks a big game but in reality is a pathetic loser. it's like that episode of malcolm in the middle where reese joins the army but crumbles as soon as he's faced with combat training. dermott either drops out or gets kicked out for doing something stupid but either way they probably have to wipe his memory and its like it never happened. outside of shallow gravy i see him doing random blue collar stuff and like... riding dirtbikes and shit. also he was probably lying about having a pilots license but idk maybe he does have one. i think he should have one

dean says he doesnt know what he wants to do with his future so his major at stuyvesant is probably still undeclared rn... but remember that for a while his dream job was "boy reporter" and he even printed that adorable little home newspaper so that points to a career in journalism. in the second half of the show dean's vibe is "im probably transgender but there are supervillains trying to kill me so i don't have time to worry about that right now" and being able to have a (relatively) normal college experience away from home around people her own age would be the final push she needs to start transitioning. also i have this vivid image in my mind of dawn becoming a photographer and i have no idea where it came from but that would fit well with the reporter stuff and she could be a photojournalist! but I also see her being interested in fashion photography and doing all of destiny's glamour shots and stuff so that's her hobby that does outside of work .and she NEEEDS to be an obnoxious twee amateur photographer living in NYC she deserves it she's earned it !!!!!

Emprex rambles about the Blockbusters of the 70's and the importance of historic context

SoI think one things is important when you are watching a film,any film ,and that s cultural context

Ive been thinking about the blockbuster boom of the 70's (Jaws ,Rocky ,Star Wars and Superman the Movie specifically )When I was a kid in the 2000's these filmswere just accepted as classics,game changers in film .....But I've noticed some modern audiences questioning why they are big deals .Like I havent seen much debate of their quality ,they are still considered pretty darn good movies .....But they nearly half a century old now so are far distant from their orignal context

Now Im not a historian ,and Im more in the Mellinial Gen Z BRacket but my dad is GEn X ,so grew up on a lot of 70's and 80's cinema .Im coming at this from a film enthusiast but think it will be funn to talk about why these four films are considered important

Now Jaws ,Rocky ,Star Wars and Superman were huge hits spawning hit franchises but also each marking the template for imitators:Animal attack movies,underdog sports movies , both fantasy and Sci Fi adventures in Star Wars case and comic strip/superhero movies .More then those these four films marked a change in trends from the New Hollywod to a rise in lighter escapist entertainment

If you look into the history the 70's were not an upbeat time in America with war,the Gas shortage and corrupt politicians ,and it was reflected in the Cinema.With the collapse of the studio system and Hays Code ,filmmakers felt emboldened to tell heavier stories,realer stories ,as such you get a lot of classics like Dog Day Afternoon or the Godfather ....And a lot of these are really heavy and dour.The linje between good guys and villains were blurred

Then a shift happens,though its a gradual one , to big escpapist movies and happy endings ....Now I say gradual cause Jaws is a horror thriller about a maneating shark ,and Rocky really does feel like a 70's drama ,heck many might even point out ....Rocky doesnt even win....My point is its kind of fscinating that EITHER of these film have a happy ending.The original book of JAws had a downer ending and I can so imagine a version of Rocky where Rocky dies .Instead we get two of the biggest cheer endings in cinema :When Brody kills the Shark people applauded ,and what couldve been a horror film ends with two of the heroes alive and joking around.Rocky gives,a nuanced happy endijng,but I would say an unambiguously happy ending.Yes Rocky loses the fight but that never mattered to him,it was the fact he "Went the distance " and the fact he and Adrian declare their love ,thats the big victory

Then we have Star Wars ....Good God Star Wars .Now much has been made about Star Wars spectical but honestly looking at old coverage of the film a big factor in that film sucess seemed to be ...People just found it fun! A classic good vs evil fable ,you cheered for Luke,Han,and LEia while booing and hissing at Darth Vader and Tarkin .I maintain Star Wars is a damn good film but also a highly entertaining film

It climaxes in 78 ,with Superman the Movie ,where it takes what was,still a popular character....But one who even at the time was considered outdated ,a symbol of old school heroics ,and brought him into the then modern cynical era usimg him as a symbol of optimisim and hope

I like your Karna and Arjuna comics a lot! They’re very funny, and I like your art a lot. I did notice your tags about Karna’s skin color though — they didn’t really take Karna’s melanin away in Fate’s depiction of him. In all the all the Mahabharata art I’ve seen (which, to be fair, isn’t everything) Karna is the palest guy in the room, to signify that his face ‘shines like the sun’, which is how he’s often described in the Mahabarata. Fate’s pretty awful about whitewashing, but Karna is the one case where it’s in-line with most depictions of him, and there’s actually a textual reason for his appearance.

I’m sorry if this was annoying at all! It’s just a bit of trivia I enjoy, and while the accusations of white-washing are understandable considering the source material (where it’s usually just true, lol) it’s always a bit sad to me when Pako gets accused of that for a choice that was pretty well researched.

I havent read the mahabarata yet, (planning to, but i have very little free time now) so i really do admit my ignorance regarding descriptions in the original text.

As far as im aware, pako wasn't the one 100% responsible for karna, since he was originally created by kinoko nasu for a previous game entry so its possible there were pointers regarding the final design, so I'm not placing all the blame on pako here, (specially considering his design entries are still on the tasteful side and well researched compared to others ive seen in fgo that felt like looking at a hate crime) and overall im not sure about the company's policy on artistic freedom when it comes to the final designs.

Its not really in my place to say it or not since I'm not indian so maybe im completely off, but his design looks more like a rpg fantasy character than something reminescent of the source material/time period he was from, but the same could be said about characters like gilgamesh and some others i guess. I understand a lot of cuts are made in favor of making characters more appealing and marketable to your audience, but karna being albino white + showing no ethnic/cultural features in his design is mainly what bugs me i guess.

Either way i don't dislike karna's design per se, firsr because it looks VERY similar to a character i love from an old game (second because its about time we get a male character wearing some stupid golden underwear armor and spandex, we believe in equality here), but because he just sticks out like a sore thumb compared to his canon legend imo, and feels like just another white/light skinned addition to the indian servant roster and idk, i feel like its just a recurring problem. I guess i wouldnt really have an issue about his skin tone if the game wasn't already so full to the brim with whitewashed characters, so it ends up smelling fishy to me.

(Also couldn't his skin shine like the sun if it was tan? Not a jab at what youve said, this is just a personal addition, but pale white skin wouldn't be the immediate connection id make from that sentence alone, but thats just me. In my mind at least i picture a skin tone like duryodhana's.)

You know! I shouldve taken him seriously about him asking me to be (one of) his oracle(s). The amount of times i sit here and like a background programme on a computer like.... ill be, metaphorically, using the browser to type and playing games but ill see these bars going moving files around in the background... the amount of times my brain and mind is used as processing power for him. I know the feeling of what i call fateweaving - one word - which is basically realigning peoples consciousnesses and trajectories using words and logic, but words and logic are extensions of things with no words, so it doesnt have to be language... VALVE DOES NOT NEED TO WORK ON TF2 ANYMORE

i love tf2 as much as the next person, but i feel like the tf2 community tends to forget that 10-13 years of a game being supported, officially playable and updated, especially an online multiplayer game, is an absolute miracle.

its been 17 years now and just like other game studios, (especially moreso in this case given valves "work mostly on what you want" structure) the devs should be allowed to move on to newer projects, rather than being stuck to tf2 forever.

"but valve is profiting off of the game while keeping it unplayable! they should shut off all the servers and turn off the microtransactions!"

while i would agree in any other circumstance, TF2 has a massive economy built around it and its items. if you take down tf2s item servers or mann co store suddenly, or even with notice, there are people out there who would lose thousands of dollars.

i feel like this kind of anger would be better directed at the fact that valve still continues to update the game with community content, none of which they had ANY hand in creating, not to mention, so much of the content in these updates, which again, they havent helped make at all, they profit off of by selling. *this* is what im upset about with tf2 and valve. not the lack of fix for the bots.

i think ideally valve would either stop with the community made updates, or atleast put together community made updates where theres zero paid content.

...HOWEVER, much like anyone else, i do still love this game and if another #savetf2 were to happen, i would 100% partake in it! and id encourage you to do the same if you like the game at all!

i would love to see a fix to the bots and maybe even new major content updates, and id try to push for that online! but i would not go about it with the mindset of "valve MUST fix and update this 17 YEAR OLD GAME!!"

HELLO. I PLAYED JEDI SURVIVOR TODAY

i just left coruscant and im chilling in the mantis. its late and i have a busy day tomorrow so i dont wanna stay up all night. heres my first thoughts

it is visually STUNNING!! i was genuinely so shocked at how beautiful the home page is. all of the uis are stylized similarly to jfo, but its polished and new in a way that i really appreciate. a standout addition in the options menu was an arachnophobia safe mode. i think its awesome how they’re making this game accessible to people with phobias like that. i don’t know what this spider monster will be like, but it must be kinda intense to warrant an option like that. but it also made me think, “why just arachnophobia?” because including something like this opens the door to other pressing phobias that can prevent people from playing. i have thalassophobia, and the venator crash section in jfo was very dimly lit and it was so much i almost wasnt able to get the 5 or so chests hidden away in there. underwater sections in games can be a nightmare for me if they aren’t lit well and it freaks me the hell out. i wonder if they considered other phobias like mine, or what exactly drove them to this decision. i guess i need to just wait and see.

the graphics and worldbuilding are incredible. its so beautiful and the level design is noticeably upgraded. i have only been through a short linear area, but it’s great so far. everything is very very seamless (the gameplay to cutscene transitions.. fuck its perfect). there were some portions where the interactable surfaces blended in a bit too well, and i was also not used to the way they looked, and i found myself a little stuck in some parts. not to where its an issue, this happened in the jfo tutorial as well, but it was all just very seamless. coruscant is fucking beautiful and the vast cities, neon lights, and other little design details made me so happy. half my gameplay was just me gawking at the scenery around me.

let’s talk plot. i noticed that a lot of these first cutscenes closely follow what we saw in the first teaser trailer. that man (forogt his name..), cals lightsaber in the case, him losing a battle to an inquisitor, beautiful beautiful coruscant. the only thing missing is the character that cody fern plays, who is clearly very important to this game. but despite his importance, they’re keeping every detail they can hidden from us. i havent seen him yet as i’m not even in koboh, but i can’t wait. i love cody fern and i know he will do a great job in this game. that aside, from what i’ve seen so far, i’m really happy. i absolutely love bode and was not prepared for how much i would enjoy his and cal’s banter. and knowing me, of COURSE i couldnt help but make jokes over and over again about romance between them. my worst one was probably, after the reveal that bode’s baby mama died, i gasped and said “YAY!!!” ..anyway. i FORGET HER NAME but the girl that was apart of cal’s crew stole my heart. i thought she was so cute and i loved her personality and dialogue. and then they killed her off 😭 i knew i shouldnt have gotten attached but i couldnt help myself!!! rest in peace girl whose name ive already forgotten.

the customization is such an upgrade. and it also leaves for some hilarious results. you know i went all out with the blindingly pink lightsaber and blade. i did it to bd too and he looked crazy and i felt bad so i gave him a pink and purple look. i got the deluxe version so i have the luke and han outfits along with some blue and green color choices, bd parts, and lukes lightsaber. im gonna hold off on customizing my lightsaber too much until i get some more parts. the joy of this game is being able to mix and match! and for cal, the no beard option is genuinely scary and he looks naked😭

gameplay is so smooth and SEXY. loving the two bladed sabers so far. i am a double lightsaber girl because of darth mauls influence but i know its better suited for crowds of enemies rather than one on one (in jfo at least). i might upgrade it a bit though because wow the animations are just beautiful for that stance.

i think thats about all i have to say. oh cal is absolutely GORGEOUS. excited to play more of this tomorrow and i am just really happy depression cured 10/10 game
