On Witches, Wizards, and Wild Ones: A Conspiracy Board from the Walls of the Witch of the Wondering Path
Ahoohoo and crackle crackle!
This is an attempt of untangling some threads, stretching out their red yarn and connecting one thing to another or maybe to nothing at all. A series of notes and questions on what we know, what we may know so far, or at the very least what we have been told. The purpose is mostly to try and determine who might be behind the assassination attempt of the station of the Witch of the World’s Heart, before the Coven of Elders convenes, but also some other stuff, because these sorts of things balloon out quite quickly when one is combing through transcripts for clues. And also a dragon??
I shall analyze and speculate from what we have been told, knowing some inconsistencies may be characters concealing truths, interpreting them differently, or that some inconsistencies will be born of this beautiful improvisational medium. I will also do so knowing that Brennan is playing a long game, setting up characters and plot threads for a future he does not entirely know yet.
Settle in with your warm drinks and campfire blankets everyone, this is 12 page paper.
THE CURSE(S)
There are several appearances of curses in both the Children’s Adventure and the first arc, often characterized by an exhalation of dark smoke.
In the Children’s Adventure: While not confirmed as a curse, when Grandmother Wren leaves (to a meeting with friends that the wizards don’t know about, to see where the missing Eoighorain might be) to what is presumably a meeting with the Coven of Elders, she returns with a bandage tied around her forearm. But it does not look too horrifying and it is not soaked with blood. She describes the trip as eventful and necessary. (Possibly at the castle of Indri, the Witch of the Wind and Stars, as the conclave will be the second meeting there in a century.)
In episode 8, 2 days before Steel arrives to bring Suvi home, Grandmother Wren returns to the cottage after leaving to try and figure out why Soft and Stone have not come yet. She went to a place that they had told her was safe, and someone was there waiting to hurt her. Grandmother Wren tells Suvi “They’re gone now.”
Grandmother Wren looks ill; her hair is white and her hand is described as black and red and withered, burnt and cracking with blood streaming down from a wound that can’t set. Her breath is ragged, weak, and quick. The curse is described to Eursulon as not strong, but clever. He also learns that the curse uses her pain to keep the itself in place; that it gets stronger the more she tries to feel and deal with the pain.
After the children work together to trap the curse and heal Grandmother Wren, Suvi recognizes the mist of wizardly teleportation magic outside. The girls just barely see Grandmother Wren’s footprints outside the door, but do not see anyone else’s, nor any other signs of entry. Suvi is able to tell that the magic is not Grandmother Wren’s.
After investigating this caught curse, which Grandmother Wren at first believed was the work of the wizard, she determines the curse was expecting a wizard, and did not believe its origins were of this realm. She also says it should have killed her, but it didn’t, because they were expecting someone else.
I was surprised re-listening that Grandmother Wren believed this portion of the curse expected a wizard. I think this curse may have been on an item capable of teleportation magic (no second set of footprints) perhaps meant for Soft and Stone, but when its target became Grandmother Wren, a contingent effect was triggered, or this is another curse altogether perhaps mingling with the larger curse on both her and Ame. Grandmother Wren thought Soft and Stone were spending the summer trying to find out who their true friends were - perhaps the Coven of Elders were also testing who they could trust. While “They’re gone now. Do you understand?” implies Grandma Wren whooping their ass 6 ft under the ground, she hadn’t figured out who cast it yet at that point, which leads me to believe that they were not present. The origin not being of this realm makes me think the origin of the curse is The Stranger.
In Ep 01:
Here we discover the larger curse on both Grandmother Wren and Ame, when they realize a curse has robbed Ame of her memories and knowledge, of her station and of who she could trust and prevents Grandmother Wren from telling her about the Coven of Elders or calling herself the Witch of the World’s Heart. Grandmother Wren breaks through the curse (but not breaking it proper) as it tries to “stop the coronation” by willing the house, and all that is hers to Ame.
After, Brennan tells us “Grandmother Wren can no longer speak as she concentrates on magic, she has not fought off this curse”
Taro addresses the Granddaughters of Wren and tells them “The curse is powerful, but the secrets that Wren shared still live. You have been cursed too” and then, speaking of Wavebreaker, “But there is a key, a key to find where they are being kept, and a key to cut them free when found. There is a source with the power to disenchant and scry”
GrandaughterS of Wren - is Suvi afflicted by any part of the curse, or was Taro’s “you” only addressing Ame? Taro also says Wavebreaker has the power to find where the secrets are being kept, and the power to scry but this is not currently reflected in the statblock…but more on that later when we talk about the Stranger’s possible connection to Wavebreaker.
We also learn in Episode 15, once Ame recovers her memories, that the Stranger had attacked Grandmother Wren at the Grove of the Well— a place sacred to the Coven of Elders, a month prior to her bed rest. She also tells Ame “For some time now, since you were a very little girl, in fact, he has been moving upon our world in a way that I cannot quite see.
Is part of the curse helping to obscure The Pilgrim Under the Stars, The Man in Black, The King of Night, The Stranger from Grandmother Wren? Did he start moving in such a way shortly after she took in Ame as her apprentice (which she was “cutting a bit close”) and the succession of her station was in the process of being secured, not going the way of either Scalvi, the Witch of the Watching Fire or Oruna, the Witch of the Wide Blue Sea?
In Ep 14:
In episode 14 when Eursulon breaks the curse on Ame we are told “Whatever entity placed this curse on Grandmother Wren and Ame put a spell so nasty that it was standing in front of successive contingent effects. That there’s like, a nested series of spells within Ame, and you’re excising all of them. But the big one that Ame was aware of was hiding some others”
The curse afflicting Grandmother Wren at the end of summer, seems to be the larger curse affected both her and Ame. The children only excised and trapped one part of many of the curse.
The curse is described as something sliding and clicking, liquid poison filled with a puzzle, turning from the inside, made of shadow. something that twists and rotates and expands and pierces. The curse is also holding onto something as it leaves - Ame is able to grab and safekeep the knowledge the curse attempts to steal from her on a Nat 20 wisdom save, and then collapses to the ground and expectorates black bile that smells of iron and blood, like Eoighorain, with a 9 on her constitution save. Her breathing remains strong, not ragged (unlike Grandmother Wren). We are told, through Suvi’s identify spell, that the bile is not the curse itself, but was behind the curse - something hidden there, meant to kill Ame if the curse were to be broken
Does the bile smell of Eoighorain because its a contribution he made to the curse (he is a known entity to the Coven of Elders), or a signifier of a power both he and Ame are affected by? We learn later, in Episode 16 when Steel discusses Eoighorain with Suvi, that this smell is not common amongst shapeshifter’s, but a scent she has only ever smelled from him.
When Steel arrives she says that the longer Ame remains in her unconscious state, the more whoever created this spell would be able to track her.
More on this in the next section- but is that why Indri, the Witch of the Wind and Stars was able to send a message to Ame in the Citadel so easily?
THE COVEN OF ELDERS
In Episode 23, Mr. Soup tells us that Grandmother Wren was at odds with the Coven for many years— there was a plan she did not want to go along with, and had been searching for a long time to find a way to convince her sisters to do something else. We also see glimpses of this in Episode 15 in Grandmother Wren’s conversation with Mirara, the Witch of the Waning Moon. It’s a safe guess that this disagreement has to do with Wizards and the Citadel.
What Sly has divined regarding the upcoming Conclave (which we are told in glorious metatheatrical fashion in Episode 23 that “All things occurring as they have been seen. With perhaps one or two tricks, just to keep the story interesting.”)
That if Ame does not go to the North Pole in 3 days, the Coven will meet without her and that they will try to destroy her and in doing so the stations of Witch of the World’s Heart
One of them will make an argument that Ame’s existence threatens the nature of magic in Umora. The majority of times Ame wins that argument, it is because magically if they were to get rid of her station they would probably have to get rid of another.
If Suvi is not there as her advisor, Ame will die
We also know from Grandmother Wren that there is much the coven can do without full unanimity (but presumably would be far less powerful to do so), and the Coven is bound by laws of mutual respect and there will be tremendous repercussions if one insinuates that any of the other stations are not incredibly significant to the nature of magic itself.
But which of the members of the Coven of Elders might want the station of the Witch of the World’s Heart gone the most? WHO IS IN CAHOOTS? Is The Stranger involved? Is Eoighorain? Who has the most against wizards?
Marara, the Witch of the Waning Moon (Mirara? The transcripts use both spellings.)
The death of light, the end of might, the all consuming dread of night.
This is the obvious first suspect.
If that’s not a witch well on the pathway to wickedness, I don’t know what is.
The Witch subclass says of The Coven of the Wicked: “Members of this coven like to paint themselves as misunderstood victims, but it’s not tragedy that turns a witch’s heart to darkness—it’s the inability to let go of their suffering. A wicked witch might claim to be an enemy to all the world, but they always have one kind of person in particular—usually related to their past self, and what soured their magic—that they despise above all else. When you become wicked, choose a virtue that is anathema to you: courage, fairness, generosity, innocence, loyalty, kindness, optimism, prudence, selflessness, or being in love. Beings that display this virtue are especially tempting targets for your ire.”
Like…you can’t have a piece of such juicy and gorgeous and cool design like the Coven of Wicked (and the rehabilitation therein) and not have a wicked witch in your story!
Additionally, Marara’s domain is the Witch of the Waning Moon. The death of light, the end of might, the all consuming dread of night. The moon wanes as it goes from full to new. When Ame meets her on the road, to light her way to the cottage, the harbinger of her arrival is a candle on the verge of going out.
Mirara’s domain speaks to cycles, to the fall of the mighty and to the fear of the unknown. It is also of the night, possibly putting her in natural cahoots with The King of Night who also hates wizards. The conversation he has with Eursulon and the conversation Ame sees in the water between Marara and Grandmother Wren, both in Episode 23, certainly mirror each other.
She is also often accompanied by wind, which speaks to Indri’s domain, the Wind and Stars, another one of night.
Indri, the Witch of the Wind and Stars
Of frost and stone, of ice and throne, the ruler of the self alone.
Indri’s domain is the wind and stars, a domain that also overlaps with an appellation of the Pilgrim Under the Stars. In the letter to Ame she tells her she knew Ame has assumed her station from how the stars aligned. She has an apprentice we know little of. She also did the most to reach out to Ame to arrange a meeting.
Did she reach out to Ame so it was more likely she would attend the Conclave?
The ice fairies say when they find Ame and Suvi in the bathroom, “long lancing spells and vexing hexes of old were made to pierce and plunder through the guises and guile of wizards”
Were they able to reach her because Ame was easier to track when she was unconscious under Indri’s spellwork? Is it because she does not like wizards and is practiced at secretly penetrating their defences? The ice fairies were particularly silly, one being evidently foolish. Were they perhaps sent by Indri by way of her apprentice, who is lonely and excited to meet another Great Apprentice? “Hexes of old” does imply that Indri may be practiced at getting through Citadel defences.
Does Indri have any pull over celestial movements? When discussing that summer and Eoighorain with Suvi, Steel says “all of that changed as the celestial path shifted ever so slightly. And that slight slight shift meant that all of a sudden, you could teleport anywhere, pretty much unstoppable, very easily.” Grandma Wren also speaks of stars to Ame like they have personalities. Could Indri have eased the way for the eras of easy teleportation? Did she ever go on long and friendly flights among the stars with Grandma Wren? Is her witchcraft more divinatory? I think Indri falls on the side of wanting to stop wizards, but something in my gut says she does not want to see Ame dead.
Hacaea, the Witch of the Woodland Green
The holly branch, the towering oak, the limb and leaf an thorn her folk.
We know little of Hacaea so far, but I think she’s absolutely in cahoots mostly because she would have perhaps one of the greatest motives to hate wizards and want them gone, on account of the whole them turning a great forest into a huge snowy, mirror-y desert and a wizard tower who’s aerith depository is probably doing kind of fucked up stuff to the biome. We know she does not have an apprentice and I think Brennan singling her out as the one Ame could imagine hanging out with was in part was that it would hurt more when she’s in ASSASSINATION CAHOOTS. Might have sent Ame the letter on bark.
Grimoire, the Witch of the Wild Hunt
Where beasts have tread and monsters fed, the bloody fang and maw hath led.
We also do not know much about Grimoire. We know she has an apprentice, and has so far been characterised as much more feral and concerned with catching and eating things. She might have also sent Ame a letter on bark. I think there is more with her connection to monsters and possibly to Gaothmai, and Eoighorain?? Certainly there is more to her than meets the ear. Again I think Brennan could have been trying to be tricky in his comments about her, trying to make her seem less important early on than she will be.
THE STRANGER
Who has held his breath since the dawn of time, the Pilgrim Under Stars, the Man in Black, the King of Night. Who attacked Grandmother Wren at the Grove of the Well and who has been moving across the world in a way Grandmother Wren could not see since Ame was a very little girl, who came to the cottage the moment after Grandmother Wren passed when the station was at its most vulnerable and requested entry, and who does not like wizards.
The strings I am most interesting in detangling here, are his possible connection to Wavebreaker, and his connection to roads which we know are incredibly significant to Grandmother Wren’s wards.
In Episode 7 of Children’s Adventure after the cast each takes a turn describing a detail of Wavebreaker Brennan narrates “So you have this moment together in the hottest days of summer as this suit of armor hands you this thing”. The next scene, after taking a moment to roll some ability scores, is at night.
Suvi then rolls a 3 on a perception check, “So with a three in perception, you look and see that you were mistaken. You look deeper at the shadow and it's just a shadow. But it was a scary shape from one of the trees”
Ame investigates the spot the next day.
Taro had said back in Episode 01 “It will help you find whatever is keeping these secrets, and perhaps whoever took them.” What if that connection goes both ways for a powerful spirit with so many titles? One who has taken care to obscure himself from Grandmother Wren?
In Episode 23 once Eursulon entered the fire, eventually travelling from the Citadel to actual Gaothmai, the Stranger caught up to him enough to have a conversation real fast.
As evidenced above (if that figure of shadow is indeed The Stranger, but the point still stands anyways) he is also connected to the motif of roads.
The final line of Episode 01 (which as the last line from the first episode, carries extra emphasis):
From episode 21:
From episode 22:
But in speaking of roads we must remember,
The iron shoe of horses. 3 iron nails sprung out of a signpost. Could a connection to the Stranger cause Eoighorain’s blood to smell like iron?
EOIGHORAIN
In my folders of screenshots, within the one labelled conspiracy, this one is named “the unexplained Eoighorain fragment.” As I mentioned before, Brennan is playing the long game- placing pieces on the board, but he could not yet know all the ways they could move. Eoighorain is placed like a question mark, with great manoeuvrability. He could go one way or another. Too many NPCs think him untrustworthy and it makes me wonder if he is the flashy distraction of a magic trick so we don’t see what the other hand is doing.
This one goes down a few rabbit holes.
We learn much about Eoighorain in episode 16 from Suvi and Steel’s conversation but also, from the diagrams (which are 150 years old, made in the first 50 years of the Citadel) of garrans, which are a creature of the world of spirit. We learn that Eoighorain’s name means “Of Garran” or “Son of Garran” and that iron was always at the forefront of his smell, with the party speculating that the iron is perhaps used to bind him.
In Episode 15 Grandmother Wren tells Ame she has doubts about how loyal Eoighorain ended up being. Steel tells Suvi in episode 16 that she discovered recently, in the weeks preceding the start of the campaign proper, that Eoighorain was alive, and this is why she sent the books including the diagrams made to smell like him to Grandmother Wren, in an act of admitting defeat and hoping she would be able to find him where she could not.
She says she saw him at Fort Keiran, doubts herself, and then sounds sure.
Why was Eoighorain at Fort Keiran? Because the revolutionary forces of Gaothmai are fighting the Citadel? Because he is working with the Cauntaranacht now and perhaps always was? A secret third thing? Was it even him after all? Was Steel about to say that exact same scent? Was their revolution successful and so their forces hold much more power in Gaothmai now? Is that one of the reasons the war is spinning up again?
We see Gaothmai ourselves only briefly, in Episode 23. Eursulon, after falling and landing in an unfamiliar deep forest, meets monsters caught somewhere between spirit and mortal, left to fester— simian feline monstrosities, somewhere between a baboon and a panther with diseased scaly and mottled hide. Brennan describes it like a yard with attack dogs in it, who attack because of his citadel badge and who eventually leads him to Kalaya.
(And sidebar I think he sees a dragon?? Is the war spinning up again because of a dragon? Was part of the Coven’s plan raising a dragon to raze the Citadel and everyone else? Was that how the world burned before? I just realized now that Eursulon saw a dragon and I am spinning up about it for sure.)
But back to Eoighorain, and Steel thinking that he caused the death of Soft and Stone, who Steels tells us were prolific double agents with connections in both Rhuv and Gaothmai that pay dividends to this day.
Grandmother Wren tells Ame in Episode 15 that Eoighorain was one of the outside members of the Citadel to alert the Acadator to the presence of agencies, jokingly referred to as the League of Whispers, which were dedicated to the downfall of the Citadel from within. She also says “When Steel came to collect Suvi at the end of that summer, the primary targets of their investigation were dead or missing.”
Additionally in the Children’s Adventure:
Steel tells us in Episode 16 that the mission Soft and Stone were on the summer that they died was searching for a dangerous sorceress named Nahani. This was the first time that instead of her and Eoighorain protecting Soft and Stone, he alone was charged with their safety. When Steel returned to collect Suvi she came back with scars on her face, and a new cloak.
Why was Steel left behind? Was she needed by the Citadel elsewhere? A matter of trust? Is she telling the truth? Did Soft and Stone leave Steel behind so she would not know they were possibly acting against the Citadel? Because they knew she would not betray it? Was she really not there, or is that a cover up? Is guilt one of the forces that pulled her to be mother to Suvi? I don’t really think she killed them but I am not discounting that possibility.
I think Steel believes this wholeheartedly, but I don’t for a second.
Stone is a very prolific abjurer, who also studied divination. Just saying.
Additionally,
This little nugget in Gaothmai perked my ears up the first time it was said. Ket, you say? Like Suvirin Kedberiket? Like Aman Kedberiket? THAT WAS A CHOICE BRENNAN. IN A WORLD WHERE NAMES ARE VERY IMPORTANT, IN A CULTURE WHERE NAMES ARE KEPT SECRET. IN A NATION SOFT WAS A DOUBLE AGENT FOR. WHO, 2 YEARS BEFORE SUVI WAS BORN, FREED A NUMBER OF SPIRITS, ONE OF WHOM WAS KALAYA, WHO THEN SETTLED DOWN IN GAOTHMAI. AND HE HAS A COLLEAGUE WHO IS THEORETICALLY A REVOLUTIONARY FROM THERE. A COINCIDENCE? I THINK NOT. Anyways I think Soft is from Gaothmai.
In conclusion: ?????????????????? I’m really excited for arc 3 because I really love witches and I don’t really know what up with Eoighorain, and I adore but do not trust Steel (but what else is new) and I do think there’s a dragon in Gaothmai apparently?? And I think The Stranger has a connection to Wavebreaker and I think Soft is from Gaothmai and I really don’t know if I can trust Indri or not but I hope we meet her apprentice and some more ice fairies.

on chises family, "a storm brewing in the east," and future arcs
hello im back from two years of not posting on this sideblog to spitball a theory thats been burning a hole in my brain since i caught up with the manga. all loose speculation, id be extremely interested to hear thoughts on this
now that fumiki is back in the picture, id like to theorize that yuuki hatori will soon follow. for the purpose of this theory im going to skip all the reasons why yori is absolutely fumiki. imo theres no point addressing all the evidence here, but id be happy to summarize if not. more attention being paid to chises life in japan, chise wondering why her father "abandoned his role," and elias expressing curiosity over the circumstances that led her to meet seth are all hints towards yuukis story coming to light
one thing TAMB does that i love is how tertiary characters are facsimiles meant to help us understand our main characters. for example, all the "toxic" pairs we see in season 1 that we are meant to compare and contrast elias and chise to, all in various ways that help us understand the ways their relationship might evolve. these minor characters may seem unimportant, but are preparing us to accept developments in the main cast. i believe there are two characters in the college arc that are prepping us for yuuki hatoris story - seth noel and adam sargent
lets first address fumiki, who ill just call yori. yori seems to have mastery over his eyes, which "have the power to bind [fae]" according to gabriella. this is a power both he and yuuki have, which protects chise and chika for a time. however, chika implies in chapter 19 that he didnt always have this ability, or perhaps didnt have the sight at all until he became involved with her. which is strange, considering yori has a "family business" important enough to require he study abroad to train for:
lets run with the idea that yuuki started off with weak or nonexistent powers. have any other men in this series been booted from their families because they lacked the skill?
its possible that this "family business" (assuming yuuki didnt found it himself, and that yori doesnt just mean the church, which i dont think he does because he seems specialized in exorcism) eventually learned that yuuki acquired his binding powers, as well as a child with the same ability. again, are there are other men who are forcibly dragged back into their family, to the detriment of their young daughters?
theres a few reasons why i think such care and time was put into the backstory of philomelas family. chise has done much of the character growth thats possible for her at this time, and attempts to "fix" philomela as a way of fixing herself. she projects on her, and for good reason too, since we are meant to compare them almost 1:1. i believe that the amount of time sunk into adam sargents story is meant to warm us up to understanding yuukis situation, regardless of whether we are meant to forgive him for his abandonment. seths story, too, introduces us to the idea of magical families booting their unworthy kin. which leads us to:
going back to the screencap for the beginning, lets give yuuki the benefit of the doubt and assume hes being truthful when he promises hell be back for the girls one day. this phrasing is really interesting, and i feel like it implies yuuki knows the place hes going is too dangerous for them. assuming hes returning to his family, or to some sort of organization (which i say because yori is part of the conclave/church), perhaps hes afraid that theyll be taken advantage of. or... maybe he was just lying! there is very little we understand about the church, so there are all manner of reasons why yuuki and yori may have ended up involved with them
so, great, okay. fumiki is here, and yuuki may be coming soon. under what context might he show his face? i have some ideas, but this soon into the arc everything is too subject to change. im also not convinced any of this will be addressed in the fiendbane arc. after all, yori was first introduced at the beginning of the college arc, and is only now becoming relevant. so all of this may only be laying the groundwork for yuuki to return in another arc, if not this one, which appears to have a lot cooking already with the dragon, the new mage, etc. but then again, we get oberons little prophecy:
i think we all understand this is japan, right. like, it has to be. it doesnt seem that oberons phrasing in the JP text matches what the great wall of china is called in japanese, but i dont think we are meant to interpret it any other way. what else could it mean, hadrians wall? cmon
all of this focus on chises family, past, and meeting with seth are perhaps warming us up to these people and places becoming relevant when the storm breaks. and i believe yori and yuuki will be the ones to involve chise in it all. now, at this point its clear yori doesnt know who chise is, and is just as likely to not know he had a sister at all. but i think this guy knows:
now... i double checked, and im almost certain this is not seths bodyguard. they have similar hair and fashion, but seths bodyguard parts his hair to the side. its been so long since yuuki has appeared in the manga that its impossible to know for sure if this is him, and im not confident at all that he is. they share some qualities for sure, but that doesnt mean much in this medium. he certainly has yoris swooping hair, at least, so if hes not yuuki he might still be related to him. in the same family business, perhaps? all we know is that hes been here before, and may have been keeping tabs on them in the same way the church does
the use of "wrest" in the above panel is notable here. to wrest is to forcibly take something, and what kind of "blessing" would they want to seize from elias' possession? maybe a useful slay vega that yuuki failed to disclose? if, IF this is yuuki, his demeanor has changed much over the years, and perhaps he is more willing to put chise to use now that he knows where she is. its possible yuuki is making good on his promise, and really is coming back for his daughter like he said he would. we have, after all, seen in chapter 99 how liam and isaac are both unwilling to return to their homes, and the sudden development of philomela being taken in by the scrimgeours. again, philomela is meant to be a near 1:1 chise dupe, so its compelling that we are just now seeing her spirited away to join another family without warning. again, developments among secondary characters prep us for developments among the main cast
again, too soon to tell, and the next chapter is coming soon, so theres a chance this will all immediately blow up in my face. however, we have already seen chise get scouted by another mage, and elias considers how frightened he is that chise will desire something "he cant provide." so how catastrophic would it be if she was also compelled to rejoin her family, searching for answers and closure in a way elias cannot understand? personally id love to see it, though itll be a long way off
do you think yuuki is coming back? do you think yori is a red herring? let me know. ill leave you with this

Changes season 3 made from the books that I actually liked
Im not going to mention radskier because that's a given and it has already been discussed and analyzed alot better than I could plus I already talked about them on my shipping post
I like the way the relationship between Emhyr and Cahir was done but iv seen way better analysis on it than I could do
the time for the leads to spend together, like I really loved the cottage scenes and belleteyn, it was the fluff we needed to wash out the constant unnecessary conflict of the past two season from our mouths
Valdo Marx being an actual character in the story his interactions with Jaskier and his scenes on the boat and at the ball were gold, this bastard is so annoying I love him
Yennefer being the initiator of the conclave makes it more heart wrenching, as she attempts to mend bridges with her kind only to see it backfire completely, will be interesting going forward knowing that she will be a main player in the lodge, will be interesting to see a more intellectual, strategic and calculating side of her against other sorceresses as she uses their leverage to find Ciri and stop their enemy's
I liked the silent hill monster made of the missing girls, it was super unsettling and reminded me of playing the games with some of the things you encounter and the difficult choices you have to make
I liked the take on fake Ciri, i think was a good way of taking an aspect of the book and making it more dramatic. she’s still a fake ciri for the purpose of nilfgaard but she’s also a student who has been kidnapped and brainwashed into believing she is ciri, that added another layer of mystery and intensity of finding out for whom Rience works.
Even though I knew it was a red herring I liked the Stregobor misdirection, it added an interesting mystery box element with Triss and Istredd and Yen are Geralt attempting to figure out what was actually going on, having them figure it out right away or telling the audience by cutting to Vilgefortz doing something evil would have been boring, this way the people who arnt familiar with the books get a mystery and the people who are get dramatic irony
I liked this version of Ciri, she is defiantly still a Witcher following in Geralt`s footsteps like what we saw on the boat but she also weighs the possibility of becoming a leader and following in Calanthe`s as well, I love book Ciri and her wild rage an aversion to having anything to do with being royalty , but I also like that they are subverting the cliché of “ she is a princess that doesn't want to be a princess” that has become increasingly tiresome in media imo I find it to be a compelling part of her character going forward
Next post, im going to talk about the changes and things that I didn't like about this season

ok, so, obviously the m9 are a found family, but i decided to do a quick scan through transcripts to see how many times they’ve actually said it, results below the cut:
The first reference to the m9 as a family is actually super early on - Gustav refers to them as Molly’s new family, contrasting with the fact the circus was always described as family.
Our next mention of the mighty nein as family (outside of various cons they pull) is in episode 26 - talking with keg, after the kidnapping, beau says, “family - i mean party members,” the first time any of the m9 say the word.
Next episode, Caleb tells Nott that while he doesn’t have any family, “You’re the closest thing I have”. step in the right direction.
Ep 35, we get Marion calling the m9 Jester’s “travel family” because marion knows what’s going on
and ep 36, we get Caleb telling Nott that “This is our new family” before they do the heart attack scheme to keep everyone together.
In episode 66, Jester tells Yasha “You lost your family, but we can be your new one”
Then we hit a stretch of Beau being the only one to use the world. In episode 77, she tells Dairon “I am on a mission with my team and my family”; in episode 85 she tells Jester that “sometimes found family is better anyways” and in episode 92 she says “I feel like I’ve found my family, with the mighty nein”
this all culminates with her deal with the hag, in 93, where Beau offers “walk away from this family, and my old family” before admitting to the mighty nein at large that they’re “the greatest family she could ever ask for”
episode 94, nott calls a “family meeting” to interrogate the housekeeper, marking the first time she’s used the word to refer to people other than her husband and son.
and, finally, the most recent episode, where Caleb called them a family.
overall, verdict: Caleb & Beau decided they were a found family way, way back when, both somewhat reluctantly; Caleb’s always been open about this fact with Nott, but Beau’s the only one who’s said it properly to the entire group.
Nott & Jester both have used family, but less firmly, and Caduceus & Fjord have only used it to refer to bio families, which Fjord has put a lot of focus on.
#critical role#cr spoilers#cr meta#mighty nein#found family#ok but genuinely something is going to go down soon right?#like we're in what really feels like a campaign wrap up kind of thing#they've defeated the big boss and defused a war#nott & cad have wrapped up their main storylines#this feels a lot like post chroma conclave for vox machina#where its a bunch of mini wrap up quests#and idk if we're facing a timeskip#or a vecna#or a second even bigger chroma conclave or What#but its low key tension inducing because if we don't hit another major arc#then...are we done?#as cool as im sure campaign 3 will be i don't want the m9's story to be over yet.

Psps, Solas for the character ask plz
OH MY GOSH !!! okay lets do this
first impression: i immediately was obsessed with his voice and i wanted to hear him talk for eternity!! Also his introduction felt weirdly flirtatious??? i was like okay so hes wise and snarky im gonna take him everywhere
impression now:
bane of my existence, obsessed with him, i just wanna know what the hell is going on in that noggin of his, i want to swish him around in my cheeks like mouthwash
favorite moment:
honestly i ADORE the first kiss scene with him, when that happened i knew i was hooked and i had to romance him. you can really feel his adoration its amazing, AND THEN HE SQUINTS HIS EYES N IS LIKE “wake up” SIR UR SO CHEEKY SHUT
story idea:
i actually have this in the drafts of my notes but a while after their kiss adahlen is like kinda nervous and not sure how to proceed but one night at camp she asks solas to sneak off with her and she brings him to this beautiful lake she camped at when traveling to the conclave. Its FREEZING coz its mountain runoff, she jumps in, ahem in her underclothes and hes like you really have to get out of there its freezing but hes also kinda distracted lol. shes like no come in with me, ANYWAY they have a cute lil moment, i was kinda thinking of posting it maybe i should.
unpopular opinion: hmmmmm i honestly feel like opinions of solas are so wide and varried its hard to think of something like that. i guess i never really picked up on calling him an egg? ive done it once or twice but not often lmao, thats all i can think of.
favorite relationship: (besides adahlen x solas lmao)
i honestly LOVE iron bull and solas’ relationship. like yes ofc cole too because cole is practically solas and inquisitors adopted baby. BUT Solas and Bull together are so cool, theyre both EXTREMELY intelligent and pick up on minor details of everything, i love their conversations, i love that Bull knows that something is off about solas but hes really not sure what, he just knows hes hiding something big. Every banter they have is like a workout for my brain its so compelling.
favorite headcanon:
once in a blue moon when hes alone he cries because hes so overwhelmed by what he knows he has to do when the time comes, and how hes let his love for inquisitor go too far and how he doesnt want to hurt her and he regrets it because so much damage will be done but he also doesnt regret it because loving her her is some of the only joy he has felt and will be the only happiness he will have for a long long time.
also he likes cats and smokes elfroot

wip wednesday!
i cant believe i have smth to post two weeks in a row! i havent written more than like half a drabble at a time since middle school, dragon age rly is wild. thank you @hawkeish for tagging me again, i tag @bunjolras @ringofdoubt & @elvhenwolf ! no pressure if you dont want to, & if i didnt tag you feel free to say i did anyway and tag me in it, id love to read everyones work!
posting an extra long one today because next wednesday is my birthday(!) and i dont wanna leave yall hanging if i dont make it online 😅
so uh, take some post-blackwalls personal quest inquisitor stress, because im playing mostly blind and having blackwall (unintentionally) come so thoroughly for taralens life threw me for a loop and i had to write smth for it
I killed innocent people. One moment of courage will not make up for that.
Up in his grand Skyloft bedroom, the Inquisitor paces. Every moment since he walked out of that Val Royeaux prison, his thoughts have been circling madly, fixated on the tiniest turns of phrase. It had to be a jab at him, couldn’t be a coincidence, Bl- Rainier had to have figured him out and, on death row, decided to let him know just what he thought about this whole ruse.
When it came to light, I ran. Pretending to be a better man.
He’s not a better man. Blackwall is a better man. Rainier is.. a man who is better than he was. But Taralen? What makes a better man when the one who committed the crime wasn’t one? He wonders, not for the first time, if everything about him is fake. Maybe this was all conjured up in that Dalish camp, his mind trying desperately to distance itself from what its body had done. Something heavy twists in his gut and his steps falter. Is the feeling genuine distress from the thought or is it just an admittance of guilt? How can he know? He starts walking again.
One mistake, and everything I worked for fell apart. I betrayed the Empire and assassinated a general. All for gold.
All for gold. One mistake. Is it all for gold when you need the gold to survive? Rainier had respect, a station of his own, power and command and purpose. He didn’t need like Taralen had. What did Taralen have without that job? Wrinkled fingers and sewing needles? Saving for a year just to have one sovereign? He’d be married off by now, still working even with a bairn on each hip.
His stomach twists again, something cold and hard and aching settling there, and he has to open up those grand doors for the breeze so he doesn’t heave right there on the perfect stone floor. He’d’ve made a terrible mother. (a redheaded mother guarantees a brat.) There would’ve been nobody to interrupt Corypheus but him. Both feel equally important to have avoided. Selfish. Selfish.
They believe it because that’s what you tell them.
There was no other choice to be made. A Nevarran woman in his face, threatening him and shouting about something he’d done, someone he’d killed, and he panicked. Only mostly a lie. It had almost been true, once. Something safe he knew how to play along with for the most part. But then it grew and they grew and so did the questions.
(A Dalish girl, kneeling beside him at the river, trying to help him decide as they washed. Belavahn, she suggests teasingly, one with many questions. He’d flicked water at her face and she’d laughed. What does Itha mean? he asked after. One who sees. It’s not for you, though. It’s mine. A tongue stuck out at him. His turn to laugh.)
When they ask his surname, he does not know how to say he never had one, so he says Belavahn instead. A good name for an Inquisitor. Too good. Nobody has said anything yet but someday, somebody will notice and point fingers and it’ll all crumble down.
(I apologize, Inquisitor, but we were unable to contact or even locate a Clan Belavahn. Fear crawling up his throat. Caught. Have to fix it. Belavahn is.. my family name. My clan was Lavellan. Writing a desperate letter that night, begging please, Itha, ask the Keeper to play along. I will grant Clan Lavellan any aid they need, just do me this one final favor and say I’m one of you. The response a month later, simple. Lethallin, you always were.)
And so he’s laughed off questions about his childhood, lied about his age, been brutally honest about how little he was able to bring to the clan, that’s why I hadn’t earned my vallaslin yet, I would’ve gotten it after the Conclave if I’d brought home good information about what was to become of the Dalish mages, and dug himself deeper and deeper into his hole. He fears it may become his tomb. Not burned, because the Dalish don’t do that, but thrown deep underground and covered up forever. Nevarrans don’t burn their dead either, he thinks, then tries to stop thinking because he really would prefer if he could stop feeling ill soon.
#wip wednesday#dragon age fic#dragon age inquisition#note that taralens a trans dude! he only ever found out that trans ppl like. Existed when he met itha & clan lavellan#so thats like.... what thats referencing#i am a trans guy trans guys r valid hes just anxiety spiraling dw#also itha belongs to my partner! shes a mage & shes baby & i love her#she takes one look at taralen & shes like my big brother now and drags him home lmao#the belavahn thing is her helping him come up w a guy name c': i love them#i can go off abt them for hrs tbh#also i cut this off right before like. god okay i info dumped on discord bc thats just who i am as a person so i’m cross posting it here in case anyone else is curious about my canon world state. under a read more bc its, uh, maybe a bit of a monster.
i've got a dummy complex worldstate for no reason other than i like to make things difficult for the sake of a good story i guess. for origins my canon warden is an apostate, ellanis tabris who in an 'accident' had his leg crushed and it never recovered, causing it to have stunted growth. he uses a cane to get around and his disability helped hide him in the denerim alienage since apostacy is probably one of if not the most dangerous crime for an elf.
he's only one of three, though. his best friends growing up are noure surana and attie nehrios. noure gets taken to the circle when they're 17 (and ellanis and attie are 15) and comes into play a bit later, while attie is a seamstress and budding red jenny.
as far as origins itself goes ellanis' canon route is deep roads - dalish - haven - redcliff - circle - redcliff. fairly standard stuff up until haven/broken circle tbh. in haven during the guardian's first trial instead of shianni ellanis sees noure (whom the alienage presumed dead when arrested bc it wasn't, ah, a clean arrest) as the ghosty thing and during broken circle ellanis finds noure again and 'conscripts' them into the wardens. really he just takes them with him and destroys their phylactery so they won't be followed. (noure's phylactery is stored in kinloch instead of the spire after their fourth escape attempt since it gave them too much of a head start to make the templars wait to get it) theres a lot of Feelings surrounding connor but other than that ellanis doesn't super change things there either. he does, however, not have any idea about the dr. which is the biggest break i have from canon in dao with the exception of my inclusion of More City Elves. instead of morrigan going to ellanis she, as his best friend, knows he'll refuse to do it and instead goes straight to alistair. morrigan actually never tells ellanis anything about the ritual, ever.
during unrest in the alienage ellanis meets up with attie again, who is already working to clear the slavers out herself, and she falls head over heels for morrigan pretty quickly. fast enough that when morrigan sets out on her 'nobody follow me' thing attie does anyways bc thats just who attie is as a person. and besides she can't stay in denerim now that she's maybe or not killed a nobleman for what happened during the wedding.
and now its awakening time
ellanis meets up with anders for the first time and through him learns a bit more about noure's time in the circle. (noure and anders and karl were lovers for roughly three years before shit hit the fan hard) and fuck canon here because ellanis doesn't have time for this. plus the architect is interesting and yah maybe insane but he's in the place for a little madness. ellanis lets him live and strikes a bargain with him, they share research and any ferelden wardens who prefer to answer their calling not by fighting darkspawn but by potentially furthering the cure are welcomed by the architect. but after awakening ellanis leaves vigils keep in nate's hands and goes on 'offical leave' to work on his own cure..... and to live in antiva with zevran...... lkjkjlkjkjkj
noure, after broken circle and during awakening, goes to nevarra via orlais. it takes them a couple of months to settle but noure finds viuus (yes that viuus) who takes them on as an apprentice of sorts bc he's also in a bit of a jam. it works, sorta, noure learns more spirit based magic and reconnects with a part of themselves the circle tried to beat out of them. it only lasts for about two years, though, because templars find them, one a recent transfer from kinloch and noure isn't exactly a forgettable face. so!
well, its around the same time that anders leaves the wardens for good. and ellanis puts anders in touch with noure. they decide to meet in kirkwall, because rumor has it that's where karl is and thats gonna be the place they need to go first.
attie though, she's just hanging out with morrigan and stirring the pot in orlais as a jenny. she also works with the mage underground and defo either knows or works with briala as a kind of agent. her story is more foggy tho bc i haven't read Super much of TME or played some of witch hunt
da2 comes in and i've Recently, like as of last week i think, decided to swap my canon hawkes. william is now my canon hawke instead of the twins. he's an apostate who's magic is mostly clairvoyancy and a shepherd.. or he was until the blight. bethany dies during the escape and its only the Beginning of the sad times for william.
with his pretty suble magic william makes for a Superb smuggler, and lands the gig with bartrand quickly. he Also, gets a bit of a crush on varric while they're still going around raising money. he takes carver, varric, and isabela with him to the deep roads thinking that keeping his brother close will be safer. and, well, it isn't.
act ii is a bunch of horse shit anyways but william tries to keep out of things until isabela is directly threatened by it and only then steps in seriously. for the most part all of the things which go down with petrice are done with noure and anders. they don't like the qunari being in town either but they, at least, can use the situation to weaken the chantry and by extension the circle. even if its only a bit. during act iii the two of them build up the mage underground and start preparing to take direct action against the circle. william is, still uncertain but he doesn't stop them. his magic has never been a large danger to himself, it's suble enough and under control enough that he's never really had to fear templars. he feared them for his fathers sake, for bethany's sake, but not his own. not really. and well, we know how da2 ends but i hate the retcon of 'hundres of casualties' bithc! where! so no, only the grand cleric and a handful of upper level chantry people where inside when it went up and they deserved it.
ellanis is working on the blight cure during this time and makes it far enough that he and zev are surprised by twins (two girls named adaia and killian) but otherwise ellanis is mostly chillin in antiva
while attie is now definitely working closely with briala both as a jenny and as an agent
and we’re up to dai with my canon quizzy - da'ean lavellan, the clan storykeeper (next in line after his father) who only attends the conclave because idrilla was going to first and they didn't want to loose the clan first. i've got... way more canon deviance in dai than anywhere else bc dai Suxxs but its way too long but basically!
da'ean romances both dorian and the iron bull bc im poly and i said so, idrilla comes to skyhold as magical advisor and she works where morrigan does in the game (tho morrigan still shows up she's not an offical position as much, which suits her and attie just fine). linayel, da'ean's nas'falon (qp) arrives with her and he slots in as an archery trainer.
plus, ellanis is the warden contact instead of the many (some really wild??) canon contacts. leliana tries to contact him to be quizzy but he's travelling and misses it, and when noure contacts him on william's behalf and mentions corypheus (ellanis knows about legacy bc william brought noure and anders along) ellanis puts some pieces together and comes to skyhold. he'd already been working to figure out the weird calling (it is and yet isn't the same as the blight he remembered) so he's already a bit aware of the situation. william doesn't stick around for long, basically just long enough to get confirmation ellanis is on his way. even tho he misses varric this isn't his place
adamant goes down wicked different bc ellanis is the fucking HOF. by this time he's developed his magic enough he can pretty much take down all of the wardens within a good 300 foot range just nearly instantly. (a combination of his blight cure research and his natural entropic aligned magic hohohoho) so he makes it to clarel Fast. instead of falling into the fade ellanis (anyone else remember just fucking punching rifts closed in awakening? lol) works with da'ean to open up the rift in the main courtyard and suck the nightmare into the real world. and then he fuckin annhilates it bc he can
WEWH is also different but this time its bc of attie (and morrigan's different now too bc she's been dragged into things by her wife) briala's at the palace yeah, but now she's also got attie waiting in the wings. instead of getting stuck in place by the quizzy attie is able to manuever things to implicate gaspard and celene alone (mostly bc i hate the blackmail on briala it just doesn't vibe well with her character to me). so instead of the shitty options of 'gaspard rules with briala shadowing him' or 'celene and briala end up back together' its 'celene gets put in place by briala and now briala calls the shots'
idrilla romances solas, and as a dreamer she's sure something is fishy but can't figure out what exactly. (until trespasser that is, when she figures it out at the murals) but she provides a good foil to his asshatry and as offical magical advisor steers the inquisition with morrigan's info about the arbor wilds. she knows the rituals and the magic bc she's first and they make it through far faster than in canon, making a quick alliance with the sentinals and beating samson well before the canon battle area.
(linayel romances cass but their story is still quiet and vague as of yet but linayel mostly remains in skyhold to help train and strategize)
then da'ean kicks corypshits ass soundly becase that fight Sucks Ass.
#oc ramblings#i've been sitting on making a post about this for awhile anyways tb#h#now i've got one hehehehe#my ocs#my worldstate#just so i don't mcfuckin loose this

hi big fan of ur blog. so i saw ur anti eggo which thank god everyone should be anyways isn’t it odd how eggo was fine w killing clarke (my bbg) even tho she meant a LOT to bellamy and almost strangled my girl to death and even after all that chaos clarke still admitted she didn’t want to kill she-who-must-not-be-named. after all that. eggo tried to kill clarke, almost did, if not for madi. she said eggo was good for bellamy (a lie, but whatever). clarke is amazing i swear. anyways eggo is trash
wow thank you so much!
I'd like to point out that I'm not completely anti e.cho, I just really don’t agree with a lot of the things that she's done. The reason is that she's bene portrayed as an enemy to that characters we love this whole time: Gina at mount weather, Octavia on the cliff (still not super into octavia right now at least until she gives a sincere apology to Bellamy), Illian at the conclave... but really, the characters we love have done some SUPER SHITTY things too. The difference is that they show remorse, they recognize their faults and actively try to not repeat their mistakes. E.cho has repeatedly tried to protect her own people, just like Bellamy, just like Clarke, even octavia last season. Now, all that’s changed is her allegiances. she doesn't care how much Clarke has done for her or what killing Clarke would do to Bellamy and Madi.. she just sees Clarke as an obstacle that she has to get rid of.
This is why I believe that her character has a very “the ends justify the means” attitude. Get Madi. Give her the flame. stop the war. its all very one dimensional. I really WANT to like echo. she's strong and a badass and has obviously developed some sort of personal relationships with spacekru, but they really haven’t given us much to go off of. my hope is that this season, along with her back story, we’ll get some e.cho confrontation. the difficult childhood she had isn't an excuse, but maybe it’ll bring out some emotion in her? make her a more rounded character?
my post was about how instead of saying like “hey Clarke, im sorry that we tried to go behind your back but this is really important and these are all the reasons why: ...” she basically just tried to get a rise out of her, provoking her by making fun of her literal and figurative isolation, probably one of the biggest, most intense struggles and thats not protective behavior, it’s just flat out mean. like yea I guess that if someone left by boyfriend for dead I'd go for like a punch or a bitchy comment but trying to choke her while her daughter is watching?? no thank you
#STOP TRYING TO MAKE US LIKE ECHO WHEN YOU LITERALLY MADE US HATE HER FOR 3 SEASONS 2019
or do but in a way with depth?
unless they’re not actually trying to make us like her #conspiracy theory

Voltron s6 thoughts and feelings(spoilers, mostly positive, none of that hate shit here)
SO OH MY GOD THAT FUCKING HURT BUT IT WAS SO GOOOOOD
so this is just gonna stream of consciousness okay
LETS TALK ABOUT HOW THEY GAVE LANCE A VULNERABLE MOMENT WHERE HE CRIED AND IT WASNT A JOKE THAT SHIT GOT ME i was so so happy about that?? Yea Allura comforted him and stuff and I was hoping it would be keith but also he and Allura grew close this season and I like their relationship as a friendship all ships aside because sometimes you need that?? like tbh I want them to have a punk level friendship someday like can you imagine that’d be so cute
i cried when they destroyed the castle of lions like i fucking cried
OKAY BLACK PALADINS??? OOOOOOOOF i was so tense thats probably the most tense I’ve been since the beginning of the Chroma Conclave arc in Critical Role like holy shit that was amazing and so well done
“youre my brother, I love you” JUST THROW ME OFF A CLIFF THAT WAS SO GOOD the flashbacks of younger keith were so cute bless you crew for giving us that
Keith??? Is so pretty??? what the fuck I’m gay
The fighting was a little heavy this season and as someone who lives for plot and character development through dialogue i was kinda put off, but they still did a lot of characters justice
KEITH AND KROLIA BACKSTORY I WAS A MESS AND A HALF FUCKIN HELL that shit was amazing like I was so happy they gave us that
They didn’t kill Krolia thank g o d
KEITH IS LIKE,,,,,,,20 OR SOMETHING PHYSICALLY part of me is still shook about that but also like he got to spend two whole years with his mom and his space wolf reconnecting with her and that just made me so happy
his hair is so long and tbh I never want him to stop growing it out
WHAT IF WE GET PONYTAIL KEITH PLEASEEEEE I NEED IT
I CALLED IT I FUCKING KNEW IT I NEVER TRUSTED THAT SON OF A BITCH LOTOR okay so maybe I did for a little bit but thats good writing on their part they let us all get complacent with the paladins and then BAM HE’S A POWER HUNGRY PIECE OF SHIT
Shiro d i e d. Like, full on died. that was crazy and still has me shook
Lol we’ve been right about the astral plane since the beginning im dying
WHITE HAIR SHIRO WHITE HAIR SHIRO tbh if you think about it Josh was technically hinting at that with his little “spoiler” post on insta
Allura yeeted Shiro back into his body js
Ummmm Studio Ghibli hair WHO like that’s all I could think when Keith’s hair was whipping around him during the last ep
ALLURA THE REAL LIFE CLERIC bringing paladins back to life left and right
okay the dnd episode was so perfect lemme just say KURON LOVE DND SO MUCH???? WHAT A NERD??? But also me with the backstory and wanting to play the same class,,, His only redeeming quality I wonder if Shiro likes dnd that much
Allura being an archer was soooo good she was so excited
thank u dnd episode for never explicitly saying what gender Pidge’s character was just that they were a dwarf I take my representation where I can get it
Kuron using his full name for dnd is such a mood
still not over the fact that lance named his character Pike
WHEN KEITH WENT PARTIALLY GALRA IN THE BP EPISODE I ALMOST SCREAMED THAT WAS SO COOL
he got back in his paladin armor and I cried
Pidge and Hunk get to build Shiro’s new arm!!
new drinking game every time Lotor says something along the lines of “this couldn’t have been possible without you Allura” take a sip bc he said that so many times oh my god it was verging on hilarious
lol I recoiled at the Lotura kiss I don’t even hate the ship it was just a knee jerk reaction oml
I love that it took the mice telling Allura about Lance’s feelings for her to understand what a babe
I NEED FANART OF LANCE GIVING THE MICE A BATH LIKE THATS SO CUTE I’ll fukin make it myself
HUNK TOOK LEAD ON SO MUCH STUFF THIS SEASON MY SOFT BOI IS A LEADER LIKE THEY TRUSTED HIM WITH SO MUCH IM SO PROUD
Pidge doesn’t get enough credit for the hacking she does I half expected Lance to hug her after she disabled the virus she was so stressed this poor child let her rest
tbh give them all a break, THEY NEED DOWNTIME AFTER THAT
while I was a little sad that Keith didn’t get a lot of time to reunite with everyone, they were kind of on the clock so it makes sense story wise, and hopefully next season he will get some time to talk with each of them for a little bit
THEY’RE GOING BACK TO EARTH OH MY G OD LANCE IS GONNA GET A FAMILY REUNION IM SO READY FOR THIS ARC
Bless Coran in the last episode he was the comic relief we all needed at the moment but also him losing the castle was deep and it hurt
THERE WERE A BILLION SHIRO CLONES THAT SHIT WAS TERRIFYING
Not gonna lie, Axca kinda felt like Black Widow in Civil War with the amount of side switching she did; I want to know her motives??? And the other Generals??? Please??? i want an episode dedicated to them that’d be so cool like them trying to start over and stuff
WHEN THEY ALL BONDED WITH THEIR LIONS THAT LINEUP SHOT WAS DOOOOOPE ngl I loved lance and keith next to each other that was such a cool shot of them and the whole team
also where did Matt go? He didn’t go back with his dad so I guess he was off on another rebel mission? idk maybe someone ask at a panel where he went
same with the Blades like I guess they were off doing other missions and didn’t bother to check in oops
tbh, this season was awesome. Did we get all the interactions we wanted? not really. Was it kind of battle heavy? yea. But was there serious character development? H E L L YES. Even though there were a lot of Keith and Shiro centered episodes the paladins screen time felt more balanced, at least to me. Even though most of Lance’s stuff was angst about Allura I still feel like he got to grow as a person from it and he’s starting to become someone who comforts others and really be there for the team. All we need now is for them to reciprocate and support him when he’s feeling down. I cannot wait to see what the crew has in store for us and I can’t wait for them to get back to earth it’s going to be so interesting!!!
#voltron spoilers#voltron s6 spoilers#vld spoilers#lance mcclain#keith kogane#takashi shirogane#pidge holt#hunk garrett#vld allura#vld coran#this was such a good season#like i know some people are throwing hissy fits about alluralance and that klance was kind of non-existent#but y'all#take off the shipping glasses and this show is gorgeous

if you're happy to tell us, i'd love to head more about ur inquisitor :00!! his debates with dorian sound fun
:DDD yeah sure! soz this is late
pica’s 1/6 of an inch tall
(im kidding. his name was originally a pun, but not a typography one - he’s a rehash of an old oc i had way back in the day, who was based off a magpie. hes actually on the short side for a dwarf, i want to say around 4′3″)
he was a lyrium smuggler before the inquisition, and specifically was the front man who sold it. he’s a champion liar and man of many faces, and knows how to disappear in plain sight (which is easy if you’re a dwarf and most law enforcement on the surface are humans. to a human guard dwarves all look the same and theyre too short to really get a good look at their faces). he had a pretty transient lifestyle- he didn’t get tied down, didn’t get too attached to anyone or anything, had pretty few posessions. he was 26 (or the dwarf equivalent of 26. hows dwarf aging work in dragon age anyway) when the carta got him to spy at the conclave, and you know how that went
look ok. the first half of his career as inquisitor was just. wingin’ it. no one really knew what the fuck he was supposed to be doing, least of all him, so he just pretended he knew what he was doing till, i wanna say the end of into the abyss. after talking to mal hawke some he learned that, hey, everyone’s always winging it, and also that his decisions kind of really mattered. (and that those decisions he makes can. kill people) for the first time in his life, he realizes hes actually important, and what he does changes things on the large scale
so after that, he got to thinking. the world kinda sucks. and it sucked before the war. and the leaders of thedas are really not doing all that much about it, except trying to kick each other in the nuts while their enemies are weak and completely forgetting that politics Cannot Survive as a practice if theres no farmers able to make food for diplomats to eat. so, orlais, if your farmland is all gunched up with battlefields, then you need to fix that, don’t you. but the inquisition is really, really good at providing stability! it’s good at establishing patrols, safe trade routes, providing local employment, and is a fairly reliable consumer of local goods. so pica capitalized on that, and quietly spread inquisition presence all over southern thedas. this led to immense inquisition influence, with very little fanfare.
you can guess why the rulers of thedas tried to get rid of him as soon after corypheus was taken care of as possible. they branded him a tyrant and like. ok. they werent like. super far off. bc at this point he was kinda trying to see how much of the world he could take over before anyone noticed/tried to stop him and also figured he could do like, a way better job at leading it than the current rulers could. and he wasnt beholden to anyone either (not like empress celene! elected to her throne by… uhhhhhhhhhhh divine providence or something. i mean shes doing an ok job but like i didnt vote for her) so if he really really wanted to he could go full dragon reborn
ive got off topic but point is he figures humans have had their go and they fucked it up, so it’s a dwarf’s turn and he’s going to put the world back together himself. (ps hey bioware can we have some dwarf stuff in the next game. im js. weve had a whole load of elf nonsense and its nice and all but dwarfs had a cool ancient society too yknow)
after trespasser he elects to keep the inquisition around, because he worked hard to make this glue keeping the bits of thedas stuck together and he’ll be damned if he’ll let solarse and his minions screw it up. but it gets nerfed heavily and hes pissed about it
he romanced cassandra! i really like their relationship- they look to each other for moral guidance. pica knows he can get flighty and relies on her to keep him in line, and always asks her for advice when he sees her in the courtyard. he usually doesn’t follow it but he feels it’s important to have her perspective on things
they disagree on a lot of stuff (like he made celene and briala co-leaders but she was in favor of gaspard) but he trusts her judgement, and supported her in becoming the divine
he’s a little weird about religion, specifically relating to the stone. the surfacer part of him that hates caves is like pff hippie garbage, but the bit that’s generations old and wants to belong to a larger whole of a culture is Super Into It. cole said he felt the stone’s presence around pica one time and externally he didnt react but internally he was yelling WHAT THE FUUUUUUUCKKKKKKKKKKKKK I LIVED IN SUCH PEACEFUL IGNORANCE I DIDNT NEED TO KNOW THAAAAAT and after the mythal thing hes like fuck believe what you want. whatever floats your boat. we live in a world where nugs have little people hands so if it comforts you to know a god did that then live your truth
re mages he figures theres a way better way for them to fit into society than the circle. its dumb. they can LIFT THINGS WITH THEIR MINDS. USE THAT FOR BUILDING. they can HEAL WOUNDS WITH THEIR MINDS. THEY CAN TALK TO SPIRITS AND SHIT THEY CAN PROBABLY FLY WHY ARENT WE USING THIS THEY’RE WASTED IN TOWERS LEARNING TO SHOOT FIREBALLS OR WHATEVER people who fear magic are cowards. chantry more like sham-try.
hes big on research and development. he sent samson to dagna for research and in the au where mal lives he sent anders to her too. cos. like. dude COEXISTS WITH A SPIRIT. thats cool as SHIT how does it WORK.
(im gonna make a post abt the mal lives au soon. its good)
hes largely responsible but he has also impulse bought at least three stuffed dragons. also, if the textiles technology were available, hed have dragon jammies. it’s the little things in life.
he collects notes he’s found talking about him and hangs them up by his desk. his favorite is the one samson wrote calling him a damnable rogue. he says hes doing things right, if he’s making people mad
hes trans! im not sure how thatd be regarded in dwarf society, in undergrounders i doubt it’d be very acceptable given their emphasis on reproduction, but house cadash has been on the surface for generations and has probably adopted more liberal views on lgbt stuff. either way hes not very open about it, and it’s really easy to pass when he’s around humans (i get the feeling dwarves and humans look for different things, when they’re trying to guess gender. for example hes got some beard scrub, which in human terms means male but in dwarven terms probably either means very young male or unkempt female) (the added implication to this is that varric might keep his beard to stubble so he looks younger) he met krem and had an instant Trans Solidarity moment, which also comes with the Trans Fear that the person Knows that you’re trans and could out you. it’s a weird kind of trust and for me feels like that one performance art piece with the people holding the bow and arrow. anyway hes cool w krem but doesnt talk to him all that much. theyve got pretty different interests.
his best friends are probs cole and dorian! he’s very curious, and likes to hear different perspectives on things. he and dorian often play chess and discuss all sorts of stuff. they end up yelling a lot because they both want to talk but the other started saying something before they were done with their point, which they started saying before the other was done with their point, and so on. he doesnt get very far in the slavery argument until hawke starts chillin at skyhold more regularly and can adequately school him on the state of tevinter slavery (fuck i gotta make a post about that. mal’s had a lot of development since i last talked about him)
he listens very seriously to cole’s observations. he can really appreciate the input of someone who watches so much more than speaks, and heartily supported his ventures in becoming more human.
he also gets along very well with josephine and likes to trick her into taking days off. hes also always down to chat w dagna and scout harding! and varric, of course. it’s always nice to talk to someone without having to crane his neck up at them all the time
(this is the reason he doesnt usually spend time w bull. hes just too tall and its uncomfortable knowing your face is at your friend’s dick height while ur trying to discuss battle strategy)
uhh trivia, at one point i thought i’d fucked up cassandra’s romance by not flirting with her enough so i meant to go for dorian’s instead, bc while i had wanted to romance cass since uhh i dunno one of my mutuals first reblogged a picture of her, i underestimated how charming and cool of a guy dorian ended up being. so in canon i say pica had a crush on both of them for a little while
its late and i think i got mostly everything so enjooooooy
as a parting gift, this is him

the 100 for the ask game!
Thanks for the ask!
Top 5 favourite characters: Octavia for sure, Emori, Raven, Monty still, Echo
Other characters you like: Diyoza, Hope is shaping up to be great, Indra (in earlier seasons) and Murphy! and wish Niylah had more screen time
Least favourite characters: Clarke, Abby and Kane (rip), I used to worship Bellamy but ever since s5 I just cant anymore
Otps: LINCTAVIA Memori, Monty and Harper, Octavia and Diyoza in a fam way
Notps: Bellamy and Echo?
Favourite friendships: Octavia and Niylah, Raven and Emori,
Favourite family: Hope, Diyoza and Octavia
Favourite episodes: 4x10 is my hands down fav, then 5x02, some early s1 episodes were good, like 1x12. and 7x02 was fantastic
Favourite season/book/movie: I read the first 2 books, and I really liked it, especially the first book, and its so different from the show. Maybe S4 was my favourite for some parts
Favourite quotes: Octavia: “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Jasper: “You’re not God, Clarke. You don’t get to decide who lives or dies”. Nyko: “Places are not evil, brother. People are. Lexa: “Victory stands on the back of sacrifice. Octavias speech about gladiators and conclave rules, “win the ifhgt, save your life”.
Best musical moment: I still love in season 1 when theyre leaving the camp and they play that woodkid song
Moment that made you fangirl/boy the hardest: Anytime Octavia kicks some ass
When it really disappointed you: Anytime they reuse the same tired lines of “it was for my people” and for some characters thats okay but for others they are crucified for it, and for reusing the same story lines...radiation..again
Saddest moment: After Ravens surgery way back when, When Lincoln was killed, End of S4, When Diyoza stopped O in 7x02
Most well done character death: I guess the only Characters that got a good death and were able to live happy lives are Monty and Harper
Favourite guest star: Dichen Lachmen for Anya and Ilian
Favourite cast member: Marie Avgeropoulos obv, the way she brought so many layers to Octavias character throughout all the seasons. The whole cast is great though, Eliza and Bob are fantastic as well
Character you wish was still alive: Lincoln
One thing you hope really happens: Octavia gets some sort of happy ending, perhaps people apologize to her instead of her always having to seek forgiveness when all she did was the same as others have done as well
Most shocking twist: nothing is exactly that shocking, Perhaps way back in S2 when you find out they are bleeding the grounders, in S6 about the primes...although it wasnt that surprising
When did you start watching/reading?: I heard about this upcoming book that they were already talking about making a show out of way back when before the book was even published, and as soon as the book was released I read that and anticipated the show and have been a fan ever since
Favourite location: Anytime they explored the beautiful scenery of British Columbia, S3 had a lot of nice locations. Skyring also seems nice
Trope you wish they would stop using: The whole Its for my people, just wanted to save my people, like why is your people better than the others and worth killing others for
One thing this show/book/film does better than others: I like how they continuously transform Octavias character, she isnt static, but its the only character they do that with
Funniest moments: Looking back the foam bit is funny, Murphy clacking rocks together, Murphy has a lot of funny scenes
Couple you would like to see: I would like it to be canon that Niylah is into Octavia, that they have her admit that, Raven with someone who doesnt end up dying thatd be nice
Favourite outfit: Octavia 4x10 outfit, as well when she changes at Niylahs trading post, and her Blodreina outfit was bad ass, though all her looks in 7x02 were fantastic. Ravens red jacket was boss. Bellamy in disguise as a grounder and in mt weather with that cap was fun too
Favourite item: Lincolns journal, wish that was still around. Ravens necklace
What house/team/group/friendship group/family/race etc would you be in?: Earlier seasons would have said Trikru, now i guess Wonkru, but hopefully friends with O
Most boring plotline: the flame..always with the flame im so sick of it, and the city of light was pretty tiresome too
Most laughably bad moment: all of sanctum and most of s6?
Best flashback/flashfoward if any: Loving the anomaly flashbacks with O and Hope and Diyoza, and I liked when there was flashbacks in the bunker, got to understand a bit more
Most layered character: Octavia definitely ..also Murphy
Most one dimensional character: Clarke, always the same excuses, always the same reasons
Scariest moment: ? I was rewatching some episodes and actually in S3 I think when Harper and Miller and Bryan and theyre telling ghost stories and then Harper gets taken that actually startled me
Grossest moment: the cannibalism was not great, Radiation stuff is also gross looking
Best looking male: I mean theyre all pretty awesome looking, Lincoln when he was around, Bellamy, Miller, Gabriel
Best looking female: Again theyre all babes
Who you’re crushing on (if any): Octavia obviously
Favourite cast moment: ? I dont look at a lot of cast stuff or interviews or whatever
Favourite transportation: The Rover
Most beautiful scene (scenery/shot wise): Theres a lot of nice scenery in the show thanks to the Canadian backdrop
Unanswered question/continuity issue/plot error that bugs you: Something I wish they had perhaps addressed even though it wasnt important in the story that much but in S1 when Kane says “they hid her under the floor for 16 years...ALMOST A RECOD” like whatttt. That could have been a fun thing to talk about. as for continuity theres a lot of stuff that doesnt quite work but its jroth so
At what point did you fall in love with this show/book: From the start, straight with S1
Thanks for the ask! This was more tough than I thought ahah

hrghgh okay this is long as shit so i’ll be uploading it in parts as i finish (i actually have several parts like immediately done but whatever. i might post them immediately after this idk) SO UMM i want to like clarify some stuff first! because im a jerk and i didn’t do it in text lol
Its a soul mate au for Dragon Age! featuring my Inquisitors and my friend’s! So im a loser and really into soul mate aus so in this particular one, basically when people are kids they get words on their arm that are the first words their soul mate ever says to them, and the words disappear when you meet them. CHEESY but its one of my fav soul mate AUs i ever saw so im using that.
so. only one of the Inquisitors is actually Inquisitor in this, the rest soooort of take the place of companions kind of?? I actually did put a lot of thought into who it would be so...It wasn’t chosen at random or anything! Also, if any characterization of your Inquisitors is wrong TELL ME! I am more than happy to rewrite things! In fact I would love to do so! i have so much fun writing for our Inquisitors that tbh i would be perfectly happy to change things to make sure i get it right!
theres also a lot of time skips in this. sometimes they aren’t clear. This is a rough draft! I have to go in and change how much time passes in certain parts, and also change up the tense. I wrote a lot of it in present tense but sometimes i slip into past (i tried to make it like, when characters are thinking, its past, when its actions, its present, which is not at all proper BUT LMFAO i was experimenting and trying to get in some present tense practice so idk it was fun!)
anyway hi. btw when i say its long as shit, i mean it.
The Trevelyan sisters are still just little girls when their markings show up.
Huddled beside the fireplace, Lana and Ariadne roll up their sleeves, exposing their forearms to the glow of the flames. Their parents stand in the doorway, eyes soft and smiles gentle as they watch their daughters giggle and compare the newly printed words on their skin.
“Hm...At least its not 'Hello'.” Lana muses, running her small finger along the length of her arm. “I was really worried. Mother says Aunt Lucille's soulmate mark was just 'Nice to meet you', and it took her nearly four years to figure out Uncle was meant for her.” She holds her arm up just a little higher, speaking the words on her arm slowly. “'Is it? I hope they're right about you'...I wonder what I'm right about!”
Lana erupts into another fit of giggles, and Ariadne can't help but release a sigh of relief as she looks at her own arm. She's just glad she has one at all.
“Mine says...'Perhaps you can talk some sense into her then.'” Ariadne tilts her head slightly as she speaks. “Interesting.”
“'Interesting'? That's it?” Lana feigns outrage, pulling her sister's arm closer to her face to inspect the words with a grin. “Its so specific! Mine is too though, we're very lucky, I think.”
“Lucky indeed, but its time for bed, girls.” Their mother finally says from her spot in the doorway. Lana opens her mouth to protest, but their mother gives her The Look, and continues on. “You'll have all the time in the world to gossip about your marks.”
Reluctantly, the girls rise to their feet, little hands clasped together as they follow after their mother. They whisper about what they hope their soulmate is like as they make their way down the hall, heads ducked low and hands raised to their mouths to hush one another's laughter.
For the next year of their life, the marks are a frequent topic of conversation, as the girls wonder and daydream about where and how they'll meet their future partners. Ariadne pictures a life growing up with her sister, being the first to hear the news when her sister finally meets whoever's words are on her skin.
Her magic manifests just two years after the arrival of their marks, and two months after that she's made to leave home, and spend what she assumes will be the rest of her life in the Circle. Lana and her write to one another, with the topic of soulmates dying out after her third year away from home.
-------
Ashala and Adahlen are just two of the many Clan Lavellan children who discover their marks on the same day.
Ashala stares down at her arm, like sheer willpower alone would make the words change. 'Greetings. My name is--' but it just stops there. It could be worse, she knows that deep down, but that doesn't change the fact she can feel tears beginning to sting at the corners of her eyes. She wants to know the name. That would make it so much easier...Why did they cut themselves off? What if something terrible happens to them when she finally finds them?
Beside her, Adahlen seems completely oblivious to her distress, and is looking down at his own arm with a knitted brow. “Mine just says 'Dragon!'...” The young elf suddenly pales. “Oh no. Do you think my soulmate is a dragon?”
Adahlen's brother—still too young to receive a mark of his own, yet old enough to not want to be left out of the loop, rolls his eyes. “Dragons can't talk. Why would a dragon shout 'dragon' at you anyway?”
Adahlen glares at him, but he visibly relaxes.
“Maybe,” The younger sibling continues. “Its a warning. Maybe you get eaten by a dragon when you meet them.”
Just like that, Adahlen tenses again, but the sibling's strange back and forth was enough to make Ashala giggle, and lighten her spirits.
After the initial excitement of the markings die down, the Lavellan clan children go their separate ways, except for Ashala and Adahlen, who linger beside the halla pen.
“You didn't say what yours was.” Adahlen notes with a hint of curiosity. “I bet its something embarrassing, isn't it? Was it as bad as Taren's said? I've never seen his face that red before.”
“No, it's...” Ashala clasps her hand over her arm, teeth worrying into her bottom lip. “Nothing like that. Its just a little strange, that's all.” When Adahlen raises his eyebrows at her, she shows off her mark with a resigned sigh.
“...That's hilarious.”
Ashala scoffs at him.
“No, not in a bad way! I mean, thinking about it is funny, isn't it? You meet your soulmate and they can't even get their name out. Isn't it fun to think about what they're interrupted by? Could be anything.”
“But what if its something bad?” Ashala looks down at her arm again. “What if...I don't know. Something goes wrong? You're right, it could be anything.”
“Anything. Sooo...why focus on the bad stuff? Maybe they can't finish their sentence because they trip, simple as that. Or maybe you talk to them first, and they're so nervous about meeting their soulmate they...throw up on their shoes, or something.” Adahlen grins at her, and Ashala can't help but smile in return.
“Creators, I hope not.” She giggles. “But...I guess,” Ashala eyes Adahlen slyly, “That's better than them being eaten by a dragon.” At that, Adahlen gasps, and although the two of them try very hard, they can't contain their laughter.
The two children spend a few more minutes discussing their future soulmates, before the Keeper calls Ashala away for training.
Over the years, the two come up with many more theories behind the words on their arm.
-----
Lana's head is swimming.
The dull throbbing pain she had awoken to had faded, but her hands were nearly numb with cold, and the bright green mark on her palm would send occasional stings through the entire arm. She shudders, mind still reeling as it desperately attempts to catch up to the situation at hand. She hardly notices another person has joined her newly formed entourage.
Cassandra seems to know the blond man who approaches, but Lana hardly pays him any mind. She's too busy staring down at her hand, at the glow that slices through her palm. It still feels unreal, like she'll wake up at any moment and find herself at home, waking up just before her trip to the conclave, when things had been normal...Or at least, a single thread of normal, among the tapestry of absolute chaos Thedas had become.
Lana vaguely processes that Cassandra has singled Lana out. Closing the rifts was hers, 'the prisoner's', doing.
“Is it? I hope they're right about you.” The man--Cullen--says. “We've lost a lot of people getting you here.”
Lana forces a thin smile to her face. “Well, that makes two of us then, doesn't it?”
There is little time for chatter after that. Lana finds no respite until after the fight against the Pride Demon, when she wakes up in a strange little cottage. From there she's ushered to the chantry, where her world continues to be thrown upside down. The mark on her hand, the Inquisition, the rift...It's all too much.
Its not until nearly a week after the incident at the conclave that Lana realizes her mark is gone. She's rolled up her sleeves to run through some training exercises with the soldiers (one activity that gives her a semblance of normalcy), when she sees her forearm is blank, the words she had stared at nearly every day since she was 9 years old suddenly gone.
Her training partner knocks her to the ground, and Lana doesn't get up, mind racing as she tries to remember all the conversations she's had with the dozens and dozens of new people she's met in the past week.
Cullen, she finally realizes. Her first conversation with Cullen. She'd been so busy being the 'Herald', she hadn't noticed...Did he know yet? Had he realized?
Lana accepts the soldier's hand, and pulls herself to her feet. She immediately scans the training grounds for Cullen, only to see him already staring at her. Another soldier is talking to him, but she's too far away to hear.
She is, however, close enough to see Cullen's face redden as their eyes meet. Close enough to watch him fumble and drop the stack of papers he had been handed. Definitely close enough to watch him scramble to pick up the papers, turn around, and flee up the stairs towards the chantry, while the soldier left behind scratches his head in confusion.
He definitely knew.
-----
The conclave had been a disaster in the most literal sense, yet Ariadne had managed to walk away from it not only unscathed, but with a new friend.
She had arrived with her Circle, and left with the only other survivor she had seen, an elven girl by the name of Ashala, who had gone with a few members of her clan. The chaos at the Temple of Sacred Ashes had been...unimaginable. The strange green gashes in the sky, that spit out an endless supply of demons...it felt like something the templars would have made up to scare mages into behaving. Stay in the Circle, or the sky itself will split apart because of you, naughty mages.
Ariadne was sure she had survived only by running—quite literally—into Ashala, who had been nearly as terrified and disoriented as her. The two mages had fought their way out of the temple together, and after not being able to find any of the parties they had arrived with, decided it would be safer to put off parting ways.
They put it off for days, then weeks, then a month, as the girls wandered the Hinterlands, and avoided the templars together. Ashala should have been safe from them, but the templars camping along the roads didn't seem to care if a mage was Dalish or not, as the two girls had discovered the hard way. They had escaped, however, and now tread a bit more carefully through the woods.
“I think we can reach Redcliffe by tomorrow.” Ashala smooths the map out along the ground in front of the fire Ariadne was attempting to tend to. “We're somewhere around here, so if we get up early, and don't make any stops, we could get there before sundown.”
“Thank the Maker.” Ariadne sighs, leaning back onto her heels now that the fire was steady. “We can get more supplies before we keep going north.”
Ashala nods, and for an hour the girls sit in a comfortable silence with one another. It isn't until the flickering of the fire casts light onto Ashala's arm that Ariadne breaks the silence.
“You've still got your mark...Is it weird that I was worried about meeting them at the conclave? I didn't talk to anyone while I was there.”
Ashala turns to look at her. “I don't think its weird. Nobody was expecting it to go as badly as it did but...I don't think many of us thought it'd end well, either.”
“I was so worried about it being a mage from another Circle. If things went badly, I never would have gotten to see them again...But my mark's still here. I suppose I've still got a chance to meet them.”
“I'd say you have a better chance now than you would have before, wouldn't you? You're not stuck in one Circle anymore. They could be anywhere out here.”
“It feels silly, doesn't it? What happened at the conclave, us just trying to make it back to the Free Marches...yet I keep thinking about my soulmate. I've got much more important things to be doing.”
Ashala laughs, and pulls a blanket out of her pack. She nestles down besides the fire, the flames flickering in the reflection of her eyes. “Its silly, but silly can be good. I'd rather feel silly than hopeless...We should sleep though. We need to be up early to get to Redcliffe tomorrow.”
Ariadne hums her agreement, and after a few more minutes of silent contemplation, she drifts to sleep.
------
Lana had only returned to Redcliffe to grab a few supplies needed for Skyhold repairs, but the sight of the lake and the cool air wafting off of it was a welcome change from the heights of Skyhold, beautiful as it may be. Weeks of overseeing rampart repairs and breaking up arguments over just how many pots the garden really needed, could certainly make even a fortress begin to feel cramped. It was nice to be at sea-level again.
She hadn't come alone, of course. Now that she was Inquisitor, it would just be too dangerous to wander about on her own, she was far too important. Not, however, important enough to avoid manual labor, or personally picking every single elfroot in the Hinterlands for the garden back at Skyhold.
Vivienne, Varric, and Sera had all accompanied her, a party that she had regretted nearly the moment they had left the gates. Sera and Vivienne could hardly be expected to be civil to one another for more than thirty seconds at a time, with today apparently being an especially bad day, as they couldn't even make it five.
Now the four of them stood on Redcliffe's docks, bags full of plants and minerals Lana couldn't be bothered to scour the hillsides for herself. Its uncharacteristically quiet for her group, but she figures that Vivienne and Sera have finally run out of insults for one another. It only took them fourteen hours.
Sera finally breaks the silence, not with insults towards Vivienne, but to stand beside Lana as she overlooks the lake, and offer her a sly grin.
“You avoided Cullen when we left.” She says.
“I didn't.” Lana replies.
“Did too. I saw it. You two looked right at each other, didn't say anything, then left. Cullen nearly fell down the stairs.”
“The soldiers caught him.”
“Yeah. So whats wrong? Why are the lovey-dovey soul mates not talking?”
Lana pinches the bridge of her nose. “We keep trying to talk about it but its just...Its weird. I hardly know him at all, but I know I'm supposed to be with him.”
“What, you don't like him?”
“No, that's not it. I like him a lot. When we do talk, hes very sweet. He just gets weird when I bring up the soul mate thing, then he always finds an excuse to leave. I'm the Inquisitor, you think I'd be the busy one, but Cullen can make anything into an emergency.”
“Ha.”
“Its not funny!”
“It is.”
“Alright, sometimes its a little funny. I just don't know why he's so nervous. We already know we're each other's soul mate, that cat left the bag awhile ago—the bag is in absolute shreds. I just want to talk to him about it without him getting up to leave, or spitting up on his shoes.”
“Lana?” Both Sera and Lana lift their gazes from the lake, turning with mirrored curious looks to see who had called out to the Inquisitor.
Lana stares at the two girls standing on the dock, one human, one elven, both with red hair. The human girl's hair was a much brighter shade of orange, framing her freckled face and her wide blue eyes that were beginning to water.
There was no way.
After the conclave, Lana had refused to believe her sister had been among the casualties. She had given Leliana a description of her sister and begged the spymaster to find her, because she had to be out there somewhere still. Lana wouldn't let herself think otherwise, no matter how many times Leliana returned to her empty handed. She couldn't believe her sister was dead, but over time, she had begun to lose hope of the possibility of ever seeing her again.
The red-haired woman in front of her—Ariadne, her sister, opens her mouth to speak again, but Lana rushes to her, pulling her in for the tightest hug she could manage. Ariadne wheezes at the sudden contact, but quickly squeezes Lana just as hard.
“What are you doing here?” Ariadne says, her voice wavering.
“Me? What are you doing here?” Lana huffs out a laugh. “I don't even care. I'm just so glad you're okay. I thought I'd never get to see you again. After all the Circles...I just didn't think I'd ever find you.” She finally pulls away, but she keeps her hands on her sister's shoulders, studying her at arms length. “Are you alright? Your clothes are so dirty! And whats that scratch on your face from?” She glances at her sister's companion, who is looking a touch uncomfortable to suddenly be scrutinized by both Lana, and Lana's friends who are all still lingering on the dock, who watch with expressions in different stages of 'befuddled'. “Who is this?”
“This is Ashala. We ran into each other at the conclave. I don't think I would have survived without her help.”
“Oh. Well then, thank you, Ashala.” Lana says sincerely. Ashala squeaks out something unintelligible in response, nods, then quickly averts her gaze again. Lana doesn't push her for more—Ariadne was shy around strangers too. She knew when to back off.
“Lana, what are you doing in Redcliffe though? I thought for sure you'd be back home. I was going to make my way there, we could have just barely missed each other.”
Lana blinks, now hit with the realization that Ariadne has no idea about this messy Inquisitor business. “Its...a very long story, Ariadne. I've got a camp set up, how about I tell you on the way there? Your friend should come too...”
-----
When Ashala had decided she and Ariadne should stick together, she wasn't sure exactly how things would end up. She had assumed they would travel together until they reached the Free Marches, then go their separate ways in search of their families. Of all the possible outcomes to their fateful meeting, she certainly hadn't pictured winding up at an old fortress, with Ariadne's sister leading a literal army, to be one of them. It wasn't really even on the list.
She was grateful nonetheless, even if she felt terribly out of place in Skyhold. After they camped outside Redcliffe and heard Lana's tale, they had made for the mountains immediately. The air was much thinner than she was used to, but she'd learn to deal with it.
Ashala was overjoyed for Ariadne, she really was, but she did miss her company. Ariadne had spent the last few days trailing after Lana, while Ashala mostly stood around feeling and looking rather awkward. She'd eventually made herself cozy in the library, where she met a few member's of Lana's Inquisition—Dorian, in particular, who was quite nice, and despite how nervous and out of sorts she was feeling, he could still get a chuckle out of her now and then.
The rest of Lana's friends had been out running errands for her, so aside from the advisers and the trio she had met back in Redcliffe, Ashala and Ariadne were both still waiting to be introduced to the rest of the essential members of the Inquisition.
Ashala was currently passing her time in the library, nose buried in a book. She glances up over the top of it just as Lana pokes her head into the library, beckoning Ashala over once she catches sight of her curled up in a plush chair.
“There you are! Should have figured,” Lana grins at her, and Ashala offers a much softer smile in return. “The rest of the gang is back. I sent them to look for stuff in the Fallow Mire, so they're all just a tiny bit crabby I think, but come on, I'll introduce you.”
“What about Ariadne?”
“Oh. I accidentally let slip that I've got the arcanist working on something, and she left to go check it out. I'll grab her in a minute, but come on.”
She was a little reluctant to leave her chair and book behind, but Ashala slowly unfurls herself from her seat, and sets the book gently onto the table beside her. Lana gives her another smile, and although her enthusiasm couldn't be called 'infectious', it does help ease Ashala's nerves, just a little.
They don't have to go very far before the first bit of introductions were to be made. The two girls merely go a single floor down, to the rotunda that had been empty during Ashala's initial stay here. Now it containes a single occupant, who was standing on a wooden scaffold, paint brush in hand, staring intently at the wall.
“Welcome back.” Lana says. The elven man on the scaffold glances down at them at first, but then turns to regard them directly when he sees Lana has someone with her.
His hello takes the form of a simple “Inquisitor.”, and a nod.
“We've got some new guests. My sister and her friend.” She pats Ashala on the back. “This one is the friend. Her name is Ashala.”
“Greetings. My name is--”
He doesn't get the chance to finish, as an interruption in the form of an absolute cacophony of bird shrieks erupts from above them. All three crane their gaze up towards the spymaster's third floor, where crows flit about, and dive down towards them.
Sera runs out from the stairway soon after. “Didn't do it!” She claims as she sprints past them, Leliana hot on her heels.
Its chaos after that, agents running this way and that, trying to corral the birds back into cages. The painter from before has come down off the scaffold, and is busy trying to pry a bit of parchment from a bird's beak.
Ashala is ushered away from the scene of the crime, and is given introductions to the rest of Lana's team, but she doesn't process any of it. Her mind is still back on the man with the paintbrush, of his words to her, his unfinished introduction. She still doesn't know his name, but she knows who he is now. Ashala knows that when she next rolls up her sleeves to look at her arm, the words she had spent her whole life pondering over will no longer be there.
Once she had met everyone, Lana says her goodbye, then leaves Ashala alone with her thoughts in the library. Her face is still flushed with embarrassment, and excitement, and although she already knows what will be there—or won't be there, Ashala pulls up her sleeve to look down at her arm anyway. She can feel her heartbeat in her throat when nothing but bare skin is underneath the fabric.
-----
“Tomorrow I want you to meet everyone then.” Lana says, chin resting in her palm, her elbow against the arm of the chair she's pulled up next to the fireplace.
Ariadne is seated on the other chair beside her, practically mirroring her sister. “Of course. Sorry, I just got kind of carried away. Your arcanist is amazing.”
“Amazing, hm?” Lana wiggles her eyebrows.
“Not like that!” Ariande laughs. “I admire her, but not in that sort of way. Besides, my marks still here, and I exchanged plenty of words with her.”
Lana moves her gaze to the fireplace. “I met mine.”
“Your...? Oh!” Ariadne leans in close. “You did?! When? Who? Just recently? Awhile ago?”
“Temple of Sacred Ashes. Cullen. Just after the conclave.”
Ariadne stares at her. Lana has no clue what else she should say. Cullen was an ex-templar after all, maybe Ariadne wouldn't approve. Lana couldn't make them get along, she wouldn't even try, because that wouldn't be fair to her sister, but--
“Cullen? The blond sweaty one?”
“Sweaty?!”
“Every time we went to talk to him, he'd sweat like Andraste herself had descended from the sky and told him she didn't like his attitude. I honestly thought perhaps he's been grievously ill all this time, Lana. It makes much more sense now.”
“Oh. Well. Yes. The blond sweaty one.”
“So...how is it?”
“Hows what?”
“I don't know. Whatever happens when you meet your soul mate, I suppose.”
“We...haven't talked about it much. He gets a little weird when I bring it up.”
“Hence the sweat.”
“Yes. I don't know, Ariadne, maybe he doesn't like me? Maybe that's why he's so uncomfortable with all of this. I didn't even think it was possible to not like your soul mate, but what if I'm just the exception to that? What if he's so upset that I'm his soul mate that he can't deal with--”
“Lana I think its probably the opposite? He's likely just anxious.” Ariadne leans back into her chair again, crossing one leg over the other. “Like... he meets this girl, his soul mate, and she's also the Herald of Andraste? Maybe...Don't bring it up anymore. At least for awhile?”
“Are you sure that's a good idea?”
“No.” Ariadne shrugs. “But it makes sense, don't you think? If you're soul mates, you'll always be soul mates, even if you don't talk about it. You're meant to be together, so maybe get to know each other first. Then everything will fall into place.”
“Aw.” Lana reaches over and ruffles Ariadne's hair, her sister letting out an indignant squawk as she did so. “You know just what to say to make me feel better. You always do.”
------
Ariadne had spent the morning in the library with Ashala, who seemed more quiet than usual. She had been perfectly polite of course, greeting Ariadne with a smile, and a pat against the empty chair beside her to welcome Ariadne's company, but hadn't said anything further.
Ariadne was curious, but wouldn't pry into Ashala's affairs unless she was invited to. If something had happened, Ashala would tell her in time.
They read in silence most of the morning, until Ariadne began to grow restless, thinking that Lana would have come to get her to introduce her to the rest of the team by now. Ashala had already gotten the grand tour—which, now that she thought about it, might be the reason her friend was so quiet. Perhaps the rest of Lana's friends were...not great?
She excuses herself, offering a goodbye to Ashala before returning her book to the shelf, and descends the stairs to hunt down her sister. Her days in Skyhold had yet to be enough to really give her any sense of direction in the place, and Ariadne ends up wandering through the halls, finding the kitchen, the garden, the stairs up to Lana's room, and even winds up going through Cullen's office (where the two of them awkwardly nod at one another before Cullen flees from his own room), until finally Ariadne finds herself in the courtyard's training area.
Lana was there, luckily, talking to a tall woman with dark hair cut short to her head. Perhaps 'talking' wasn't the proper word for it, since both of their faces were contorted into scowls—with the woman Ariadne didn't recognize having a much more impressive one.
“Inquisitor, its not that easy.”
“I didn't say it would be easy.” Lana retorts. “That doesn't change the fact I think it needs to be done. Or do you still not believe what I saw?”
“I read the report, Inquisitor, I believe you. That does not mean we should--”
“Cassandra, I've talked to the blacksmith and Dagna, they both agree that its the strongest--”
“I'm aware of the strength of dragon scales, but the dangers outweigh any potential--”
“--So if we can just get even a little bit of dragon scale or bone, we could craft weapons to give us the advantage! I think its worth it, Cassandra. You and I have fought demons countless times, we both know how strong some of them can be. I saw that future Corypheus created back in Redcliffe, I want any edge we can get.”
The woman Lana was arguing with—Cassandra, apparently--throws her arms up in the air with a frustrated sigh. “So we risk our life, your life, for this? Slaying a dragon isn't--”
“Haven't you already done it?”
“Which is exactly why you should listen to me!”
Lana was ready with an argument, Ariadne could see it on her face., but her sister's mouth snaps shut at the sight of Ariadne lingering just a few feet away. There is a moment of tense silence, where Lana and Cassandra quietly fume and glare at each other, but eventually Lana waves Ariadne over.
“Cassandra, this is my sister, Ariadne. Ariadne, this is Cassandra.” Lana says through clenched teeth.
Cassandra looks Ariadne up and down, before sighing. “Perhaps you can talk some sense into her then.”
Ariadne's spine goes rigid. Lana doesn't seem to notice, and barrels ahead to resume her argument. “Really? Cassandra, you can stay here then. I'm going after a dragon, we need the materials, but I don't need your help to do it.” Lana pats Ariadne on the back. “Ari, come find me in the tavern. I'll introduce you to Bull.”
Lana leaves after that, and with the way she had worded things, Ariadne assumes she does not intend for her to follow right away, and needs time to cool off.
Which leaves Ariadne standing alone in the courtyard with the woman her sister had just been arguing with. A woman who was apparently her soul mate. Ariadne didn't spend days in the Circle staring wistfully at the words on her arm just to forget them now.
“I apologize. This was not very becoming of me. Your sister...She's a good leader. I do not want you to assume I disrespect her decisions, I just...”
“Question them?” Ariadne finishes.
Cassandra nods, then her eyes suddenly light with an understanding that Ariande was sure had been flickering on her own face just moments before. “Oh! You--”
“Yes. Um...”
Cassandra seems to have been just as aware of her own markings as Ariadne had been. She steps a little closer, and for just a split second Ariadne is sure she's going to go for a hug, but Cassandra sticks out her hand instead.
Ariadne takes it lightly, and shakes. She giggles a little, feeling like they're sealing a deal, agreeing to some sort of contract instead of meeting their soul mates.
“I'm Cassandra Pentaghast. I should have introduced myself properly earlier, rather than wait for the Inquisitor to do so.”
“Its fine! Please don't worry about it. Um...Well, Lana already said so but, ah, I'm Ariadne. Its very nice to meet you, Cassandra.”
They fall silent, but their hands remain in one another's grasp. Ariadne isn't sure how its possible, but this meeting is managing to be both more awkward than she had imagined, but far better than she had predicted. She's uncomfortable, but in her usual sort of way that she is around strangers. Yet there is this underlying feeling in the pit of her stomach, a spark of understanding that yes, this is her soul mate, she doesn't even know her, but Ariadne already loves her. Or she will. She knows she will.
“Lana is waiting for you so...” Cassandra is looking down at their hands.
“Oh. Right.” Ariadne still doesn't let go. Some spell might be broken once she does.
“We can talk about this later.” Cassandra says it, but Ariadne can detect a hint of hopefulness in her voice. She's asking for permission, this isn't a statement.
“Yes. Of course.” Ariadne replies, and both of them relax, finally letting their hands fall back to their sides. Cassandra nods at her as she turns to leave, and although Ariadne is still excited to meet the rest of Lana's friends, she's pretty sure none of them will top this one.
-----
Ashala ends up going along with Lana to find a dragon. After hearing the rundown of the argument from Ariadne, Ashala and her brainstorm a way to get supplies the safest way possible. There was no way for it to be entirely danger-free, but the two of them had come up with a plan to possibly get at least a small amount of scales without confronting a dragon at all.
A large portion of the Hinterlands was dragon territory, one that was predominantly active during the day. If they camped out on the outskirts the night before, they could possibly make it to the nest early in the morning, when the dragon was out hunting. If they were lucky, perhaps the dragon would leave a few shed scales behind.
Ashala was not prepared, mentally, to fight a dragon, but she had jumped at the chance to go when Ariadne said she would be accompanying her sister on this ridiculous task—she kept the ridiculous bit to herself, but she really did think going out of their way to trek through dragon territory was a phenomenally bad idea, even with their plan in place.
So it was her, Ariadne, Lana, and Lana's friend Iron Bull who set out to the Hinterlands a few weeks after the plans had been made. Iron Bull was another of Lana's friends that Ashala already liked—He was a little crass, yes, but funny at times, and willing to keep conversations going even after Ashala and Ariadne ran out of practiced niceties to say. He and Lana led the group, chatting to each other once the two mages had become obviously exhausted by conversation.
Ashala's time with the Inquisition was now numbering at roughly two months. In that time she had gone on a few missions with Lana, and had spent some time with all of her friends by this point. A few, she got along better than others, but she didn't dislike any of them, not really.
She had yet to talk to Solas. At all. She wasn't sure what to say, and was worried too much time had passed. It had started out as her just wanting to think of something good to say to him, since it would be the words that define her as his soul mate, but all that time stressing had led her to putting it off for weeks, and now here she was, nearly two months after meeting him, and still had yet to say a single word. He'd probably be so upset with her, wouldn't he?
Ashala had plenty of opportunities, too. Lana had brought the both of them on missions together, yet Ashala still couldn't bring herself to say anything. Lana had stopped putting them on teams with one another altogether, likely under the impression that they didn't get along.
Her self loathing followed her out to the Hinterlands, and stayed with her even as they made camp. Their two tents housed Iron Bull in one, and the three girls shared the other, with Ariadne lying in the middle, and Lana and Ashala on the edges. It was cramped, but oddly cozy, and it was nice to chat with the two sisters before falling asleep. It helped take her mind off things at least for a little while.
In the morning they were up before the sun, and making their way to the dragon nest. Ashala was embarrassingly jittery, jumping at every little rustle of bushes, or snapped twig.
By the time the nest was in sight, the sun was up just enough to cast the valley in a pink glow.
“This would be pretty, if I wasn't expecting a dragon to swoop down and eat us.” Lana comments. Iron Bull snorts in response.
“We...aren't the first ones here?” Ariadne sounds astounded, and Ashala follows her line of sight up towards the nest itself. There is one lone figure up there, crouched down and examining something in the dirt. There's a bow strapped to their back, and for a moment, Ashala tenses, wondering if they were in for a fight if the stranger was feeling particularly territorial about whatever spoils the dragon left behind.
When they stand upright, and turn around to regard the group below, Ashala gasps, and the elf up on the nest does to.
“Adahlen, what could you possibly be doing up there?” Ashala asks incredulously.
“Looking for you.” He says, then glances behind him. “Well. Not looking for you here, but I was scouting the area when I noticed the dragon leave, so I went to check it out.”
“By yourself? What if the dragon came back?”
“I didn't think that far.”
“Wait, you said you were looking for me?”
Adahlen nods. “Well, yeah. Lots of us are. After the conclave we went to the ruins to find, well, you know. Remains. But we didn't see any sign of you, not your body, or your staff. The Keeper thought you might have survived, so she's been sending out search parties all over.”
Ashala's eyes begin to sting. She had been so caught up in the Inquisition, she had forgotten all about her original goal of getting home. She hadn't even remembered to send a letter, or any kind of sign she was okay. But they'd been out here looking for her, even though its been months, because they still thought there was a chance for her to be okay...
Her stomach turns. She feels guilty. And happy. So happy, that they all cared enough to search for her even after all this time.
“I take it you two know each other?” Lana says, regarding Adahlen with uncertainty.
“Oh, yes. He's another member of Clan Lavellan, we grew up together.” Ashala answers quickly. From up at the nest, Adahlen waves. “Adahlen, this is Inquisitor Lana Trevelyan, um...Well, have you heard about--”
“Yes.” Adahlen says before she can finish. “We looked in all the major cities for you, and the Inquisitor is all anyone's talking about. So you're working for her?”
“Its kind of a long story, but yes.”
A horrendous shriek bellows from above them, bringing the conversation to a screeching halt. The sound of large, flapping wings fills the air around them long before the beast soars into view.
“Dragon!” Iron Bull calls up towards Adahlen, who immediately heeds the warning and scampers down off of the nest, just barely escaping before the dragon slams down where he had been just seconds before.
He runs over to them the moment he's on level ground, bow drawn in one quick movement and aimed up at the dragon, which has its eyes trained on the five of them. Iron Bull has his ax out as well, stance screaming for a fight. Ashala is horrified and a little impressed that the qunari is actually smiling.
“Nope, no, put it all down, we are leaving,” Lana is already backing up, with Ariadne mirroring her at a much faster pace. “I planned for sneaking in there, I didn't bring enough potions, I wasn't expecting—just--just go, lets go!”
Ashala sprints after the two girls who are already fleeing the scene. Just before she's out of earshot, she hears Adahlen laugh and say to Iron Bull: “Your friends aren't much fun, are they?” but the two of them are soon following close behind her.
---------
Lana is amazed they make it out of there in one piece, but they somehow manage. The only bruises they bring back to Skyhold are on their pride.
They cross through the gates of the fortress with nothing to show for their trip—Aside from an extra person. After a little bit of discussion, they decided it would be best if Adahlen returned with them to Skyhold, where they could send word back to Clan Lavellan about what happened. Lana very pointedly does not look in Cassandra's direction, not wanting to see any sort of smug satisfaction, or worse, genuine pity. Apparently not even weeks worth of planning was enough to get dragon scales without actually fighting one.
They're greeted in the courtyard by a few soldiers, and from there, the five of them go their separate ways. Ariadne and Ashala walk side by side up the stairs, seemingly no worse for ware, since they're chattering with a surprising amount of gusto.
Iron Bull puts a hand on Adahlen's shoulder. “We've got a lot to talk about.” He says, and Adahlen laughs as he agrees. They head towards the tavern together, leaving Lana alone with her thoughts, which is the last thing she really wants to be alone with right now.
She has little time to stew before she sees Cullen walking towards her, hand on the back of his neck, a nervous tick Lana had noticed weeks ago. He rarely initiates conversations with her, so her desire for a distraction, as well as her curiosity, keeps her rooted in her place as he approaches.
“Can we talk?” He asks, and Lana nods. He leads the two of them up to the ramparts, just to the side of his office, where they look out over the mountains surrounding Skyhold. He doesn't start to speak right away, which doesn't surprise her, but she is surprised at herself for not starting up a conversation in his place like she normally would.
“I'm sorry.” He eventually sighs.
Lana looks at him. “For what?”
“I've been...a little foolish. Which Leliana and Josephine have told me many times. I've been unfair to you, avoiding you, refusing to talk about—about this.”
“No, Cullen, its fine. I know I keep pushing you, and that's not fair of me. I shouldn't force you to talk about if if you're not comfortable.”
“I do want to talk about it. I just don't know how. I think I can, but then I see you and I'm at a loss for words. I keep thinking I'm not worthy of you, that there must have been some sort of mistake.”
A little voice in the back of her mind wants to comment on how cute it is that he's blushing so hard, but she knows her face is just as red right now. “I...was worried for a long time too. That you didn't like me, or something had gone wrong, but, Cullen, I do really like you. When we talk, I always feel so much better. Anytime we spoke about strategies, or our friends, it felt so natural. I just have this idea in my head of how soul mates--” She doesn't miss the way his face flushes to an even deeper pink color the moment that word leaves her lips, “--are supposed to act, but...I'm pushing it. I want to get to know you. I want it to be real. So can we talk more? Not about what we're meant to be, but just normal conversations first? We don't have to rush it. I'm sorry for making it seem like we should.”
Cullen smiles at her, a small but sincere one, and Lana's heart skips a beat at the sight of it. “I'm sorry too. For avoiding you. But, yes, I'd like that.”
“...Can I ask though, what made you change your mind?”
She's not sure how much redder Cullen can get. “When you left to fight the dragon. I was angry. At you, at anyone who didn't stop you. The thought of you never coming back left me so empty inside...I realized I felt the same way back at Haven, when you went back out there to give us all a fighting chance. I had just met you, but I still couldn't imagine a life without you.”
Lana stares at him for a long time, struggling to think of anything to say to that confession. It was unfair, to be told such a thing, when she didn't have anything nearly as mushy in return.
She responded by burying her face into her hands, and murmuring that that was a sneaky move on his part.
-------
Adahlen had been with the Inquisition a grand total of two days, and he already forgot where the room Lana had given him to use was. He hadn't actually set foot in it since thanking Lana for her kindness, and probably would not be able to find his way back to it if you threatened him at knife point.
“Oh shit,” He murmurs. Lana. Lana was supposed to introduce him to everyone else today. She had stopped by the the tavern yesterday afternoon to tell him the rest of her friends would be back, finally all in one place again.
The light shining in through the hole in the ceiling let him know it was late morning. Lana probably went looking for him in his room, only to find it empty.
Adahlen literally rolls out of bed, uncaring of the amount of noise he made, since he knows Iron Bull is already awake—it had only taken two days to learn his soul mate was a light sleeper. “You ass. You didn't wake me up.”
“Whoops.” Iron Bull does not sound very sincere.
It takes him a few minutes to get dressed, delayed by the amount of time it takes him to find his shoes. When he's finally clothed and finds them, he's out the door, still pulling his boots up as he stumbles out onto the ramparts—he's honestly amazed that Bull's room has three doors into it.
“Oh, Adahlen, there you are!” Ashala was apparently part of the search party, as she finds him first, and jogs over to him. “You weren't in your room, we've been looking for you all morning. Are you alright? We thought something might have happened--”
“I'm fine,” He reassures her. “I was with Iron Bull.”
“This early?”
“It was late when I got there.”
He can practically hear the gears in her head turning. When it finally clicks, Ashala gasps. “Adahlen! You didn't.”
At that, he doesn't bother to suppress a grin. “I did.”
“I mean, its fine of course, I just wasn't—I didn't expect you two to get along so well so quickly!”
“Oh,” Adahlen rolls up his sleeve, showing off his blank arm. “Soul mates. Found out right after we met. We decided 'fun bits now, important discussion later'...I don't have any idea where that room Lana gave me is anymore, by the way.”
“You're not exaggerating that conversation at all, are you? Well...Congratulations, really. I'm very happy for you. Lana's still looking for you though, to introduce you to the others. Are you still up for it?”
“Yeah, lead the way.” He lets Ashala take the lead. “So...how exactly did you get wrapped up in all of this, Ashala?”
“Creators, its a long, long story.”
“Then lets walk slower.” He smiles when Ashala slows her pace, falling in to step beside him. “I'm glad you're safe. We were all really worried about you.”
“I'm glad you're here, honestly. I've made friends, but its nice to see a familiar face. Anyway, I met Ariadne first...”

Why is echo there. I'm very worried about the possibility of Becho. Five years is a long time. cos something obviously goes wrong in the final moments before take off. And Clarke's left behind with no food and stuff. He'll think she's dead by year three. then who knows Becho is now a possibility and then Becho pregnant. Im fudging cryng here I DON'T want this to happen, pls Lord let me be wrong. I'm just freaking out cos there's gonna be a big twist. Or myb E dies in the nxt epi and all's well
Hi nonny!
Thepossibility of Becho scares you obviously and I will try my best to take atleast some of your worries (hopefully) away.
A word ofwarning though:
I haven’t read the leaked script but I sawpeople posting thingson their dash. And I cannot for the lifeof me remember which were legit spoilers and which were pure speculation. Amongthose posts, some of your worries were also listed, so I will let you know thatwhatever I am telling you now is myopinion on that matter withoutknowing what of the things that has been said are actually true or not.
So, let’sassume the trailer for ‘Praimfaya’ already gave away the hypotheticalpossibility of Clarke and Bellamy being seperated. Let’s also assume that theywill have to wait for five years to reunite with Bellamy up in space and Clarkedown on Earth. A lot of things can happen in that five years.
Becho beingamong those things? Probably not. Maybe they are going to be on more friendlyterms because they have to work together to get everything ready for theirreturn to Earth. A romantic relationship? Nah.
Don’tforget what Echo has done to Bellamy, how much he loathes her for it. Bellamy “doubts”that they will get along anytime soon (I think that was in “Echoes”), he wasalso ready to kill her the next time he would see her which he tried to doduring the conclave battle (after cheating on them again and you know how muchBellamy hates cheating).
For Clarke,I think Bellamy knows what a strong-willed, smart, and clever girl she is andthat she will find a way to survive. He might of course think about the worstcase scenario but in the end, he will always believe in her and that they willsee each other again.
In addition, the extended promo already gave us thatgem of a quote about them being tested for five years. If you look closer, youcan see that Bellamy talks to Clarke here. “we” could refer to thedifferent teams or, as we have already learned, to Bellamy and Clarke specifically.
Now takethat tidbit that was left unsaid and still needs some closure:
Bellamy: “Clarke,if I won’t see you again….”
Clarke: “Wewill.”
And theagain look at the trailer for ‘Praimfaya’:
Bellamy “We’reabout to head to space where we will be tested for the next five years.”
Their faith in each other will be clearlytested, Bellamy will have the chance to tell Clarke how much she means to her though(He hugs her first in the promo! What a development!) and asssuming at leastone of them goes to space, they will definitely pass the test and see eachother again.
Bellamy and Clarke are each other’s True North,Soul Magnets, and Echo won’t change that.
Hope thatit helped a bit. If not, my ask box is open :)

🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊 :DDDDD 🎊🎊🎊🎊 THAT'S A LOT OF BLOGS
For every 🎊 I get I’ll recommend a blog
(( omgosh so many! This one will be a little shorter sorry! There’s a lot here and I don’t want to make the post too long, also I’m getting tired :’D ))
@tai-trevelyan-the-inquisitor
One of the very first people I ever got to RP in the DARP community with, and we’re still Rping. :3 I think that says enough, really. Tai mod’s blog is filled with a lot of good Dragon Age content, not always towards the muse, but if you’re looking for some good, funny DA content, then this is a really good blog to be following!
Tai is a really interesting character in the sense of what happened to him at the Conclave, and how he changed as a person, and of course some other headcanons I won’t spoil and go into right now.
Tai mod has always just been an overall great and supportive friend since I’ve joined the DARP community and that means a lot. Always coming into my IM and poking me and telling me funny things, or chatting about the muses. Honestly, you’ve been supporting Kaaras EVER since we started Rping on this blog, and that means so much to me. Thank you for being there through everything the last few years, the good and the bad. You’ve been a really good bloke!
Go check Tai out and give him a poke. :D The mod is always looking for new folks to RP with!
@fredericofserault
I ALWAYS will love people who take the smaller, side characters and flesh them out to perfection, and honestly, that’s what Freddie mod has done. Seriously, I love their take on Frederic, you have absolutely given him a real personality and made him shine and given him LIFE!
Mod is great to talk to, toss headcanons back and forth with, and their art is adorable as fuck! Go and commission them, because they’re really cute! :D
I love Freddie’s and Kaaras’ relationship, and the DERGS, all the goddamn dergs everywhere. Also, mod posts lots of birds so HELL YES that’s a bonus for me! :D
@thedalishbloodmage
Merill mod is an absolute darling.
Merrill mod sticks to the true nature of the character, keeping Merrill shy but not really innocent. There’s confusion and misunderstanding because of the culture differences, and honestly, I love that. I love that you keep Merrill as having this sense of family with Hawke and the companions of DA 2 as well, and they are willing to play DA:I timelines and everything else as well.
Seriously, go and check out their Merrill, they’re really adorable and the mod is such a sweetie!
@krahel-adaar
Another person who has been following me and Kaaras since the dawn of time. Omggg, I love Krahel SO MUCH. And I will forever be laughing at the fact that Kaaras was the reason Krahel started exploring his sexuality more, and I LOVE THAT XDD I love that a muse can GROW from something like that, and that’s what Krahel has done.
What’s not to love about more qunari? Give me ALL the qunari muses okay!? I will horde them all and snuggle them to pieces, even if Krahel would kill me. :’D
Seriously, Krahel is a big grump who is a softy down at heart, and I love those muses. But Krahel isn’t one of those muses who just suddenly becomes soft overnight, you have to REALLY pick at it and work with him, and that’s keeping him true to his character. I love that he’s a big arse grump.
@zevranrp
Probably the best Zevran I’ve ever Rped with. And I miss youuuu and miss Rping with your Zev. Zev mod is an excellent writer! One of the first writers who I honestly looked up to a lot here in the DARP community because your writing is just so damn good and I love it. So poetic and descriptive and just full of life.
Your Zevran was incredibly IC, and this was before I even played DA:O and I already KNEW who Zevran was JUST because of the way you write him. So that says a lot about your writing and how well you Rped this muse.
@katxh
Can I just say one of the most IC and wonderful Bull’s I’ve ever come across. I kind of jump every Bull I can to see how much I wanna Rp with them, and I’ve ended up unfollowing a fair few. But your Bull is absolutely amazing! I also love your other muses who I was lucky enough to RP with
Seriously, though, your Bull is really amazing, and some of the headcanons we’ve discussed I absolutely and positively agree with, and I am so happy to see someone treating Bull the way he deserves. That he’s not this perfect, big barra bear, that he has these demons he struggles with, though he still fights through them and he always keeps his chin up for the boss and his friends, and the people he cares for.
I love your Bull, he’s fantastic, and your writing is gorgeous. It’s long and descriptive and you paint such pretty pictures. You’re also not shy to keep out the nitty gritty details, and that’s something I LOVE in writing. A lot of people aren’t bold enough, but I love when people keep them in there.
I’m sure you’ve already got a fanbase following you, because you’re amazing, but anyone who isn’t following, go and do so now! :D
@brokenbiirds
I haven’t had the opportunity to talk a lot with the mod (I blame myself, I’m super bad at approaching people >.
Each reply the mod gives, leaves you with something to work with and they write novella as well, which is always a delight for me.
Mod is super nice and I know from afar that they’re incredibly supportive of their friends and the people that they care for. :)
@pelle-lavellan
We’ve not spoken a lot OOC, but I reaaally like our threads! At first I wasn’t sure how Kaaras would handle being around such a younger muse, as so many of them in the past have easily gotten on mine, but I really like Pelle, and I think you have a really good way of expressing him in your writing.
A lot of the time, I don’t realise I am Rping with a muse who is so much younger, and Kaaras often thinks that Pelle is very mature for his age--which is a good thing in his books. XD
I think you’re a very sweet mod the times we have gotten to talk, and I find that our threads are always oddly soothing and calming, which is very nice considering sometimes Kaaras’ threads can be super chaotic. XD
