The Phantom Rider, Sonic's "hero" status, and Sonic's love for his friends: a poorly put-together analysis
so, ive seen a non-zero amount of people say that Sonic taking on the alter ego of the Phantom Rider is out of character for him, and my knee-jerk reaction was to disagree (though, im biased, because i adore the Phantom Rider). but then i thought about the why of it all -- why does it not feel out of character for Sonic to disguise himself to cause chaos?
full post and me over-analyzing a blue hedgehog under the cut
part 1: Sonic will break the rules
well, first of all, Sonic doesnt really care too much about being a hero. he helps people because he wants to, not because its expected of him. weve all seen those satbk cutscenes reposted to hell and back, so let me be the millionth to do so
when Merlina tells Sonic that, upon taking Caliburn, he would become the villain in everyones eyes, he shrugs it off. and even later, when Gawain tries to talk him down from battling Merlina, Sonic dismisses the idea that hes doing this out of some kind of chivalry or duty, that he fights because he wants to.
there are many other instances of Sonic not really caring about rules or social conventions, and gladly breaking them if it means he can save people (dude literally runs from cops in sa2), but its never directly stated as explicitly as it is in satbk.
so, Sonic doesnt care about being a hero, and doesnt care about being a villain in other peoples eyes if he knows hes doing whats right. youd think with this facet of his character, him actively disguising himself as the Phantom Rider would be antithetical to this point, right? if he doesnt care about being seen as a villain, then he shouldnt have to mask his identity. its a fair conclusion to come to, but it also ignores what i think is one of Sonic's core personality traits;
part 2: Sonic loves his friends a lot
its strange to me that not a lot of people bring this up, because he does! from "and Amy... take care of yourself," to "I'll have you smiling by the end of this," Sonic just genuinely loves his friends to death, and doesnt want to sabotage them.
if he runs out there to cause chaos during the clean sweepstakes, completely unmasked? everyone who knows a single thing about Sonic will start to assume bad things about the Restoration. just because Sonic has good intentions doesnt mean hes above the rules, and acting like he is can put people he cares about (namely Jewel and the Diamond Cutters) at the mercy of public opinion.
he cant act like hes above the rules, especially when hes directly associated with the Restoration (even if hes not a part of it) during the clean sweepstakes.
(id also like to point out that here, Sonic doesnt even consider it a bad thing to be completely and utterly chaotic and disruptive at first; Tails has to remind him its a bad idea)
and understandably so! we see how everyone reacts to seeing Sonic as the Phantom Rider, especially Tangle -- its a tough pill to swallow, especially without all the context involved. to an outsider, it looks like Sonic is just trying to sabotage the clean sweepstakes because hes being a sore loser (or, really, any other number of malicious reasons)
but, really, i think that the point im trying to make is summed up best by Amy and Sally (even though its in Archie)
thats just not how they do things. they dont want to cause necessary chaos or danger just for the hell of it, and they certainly dont want to associate the Restoration with that sorta thing -- people look to the Restoration for hope, and while Sonic is associated with it during the clean sweepstakes, his hands are a bit tied. itd be a total dick move for him to basically throw his friends (and especially Jewel) under the bus like that, and he knows it.
Sonic may not care about his reputation in other peoples eyes, but he cares greatly about how his actions affect his friends.
part 3: the conclusion
its easy to assume that, based on how lax Sonic is with rules and social conventions, him disguising himself just to cause a distraction for Amy and Tails to get attention off of them would be out of character. but, based on the circumstances, i think that it makes enough sense given the context for him to take the route that he does.
sorry if this analysis is a little all over the place, im sorta scatter brained right now but i wanted to get my thoughts out about this cuz its been on my mind
#sonic#sth#sonic idw#sonic analysis#the phantom rider#AUGH i cant wait for issue 74 man.......#ive been really adoring this arc

Wrote this in like two hours how do y'all feel about this?
Percy can’t believe it went wrong so quickly.
He was enjoying his well deserved retirement from the demigod life, hell he was getting to a point where he almost believed he deserved it. That’s when he heard his mom call his name.
“-Percy! Hurry come quick!” Sally called out and he came rushing into the other room, clutching his pen.
“Mom? What’s wrong..?”
The only thing she did was point to the radio and turn up the volume.
“…This is KTU in Honolulu, Hawaii. I am speaking from the roof of the Advertiser Publishing Company Building. We have witnessed this morning the distant view a brief full battle of Pearl Harbor and the severe bombing of Pearl Harbor by enemy planes, undoubtedly Japanese. The city of Honolulu has also been attacked and considerable damage done. This battle has been going on for nearly three hours. One of the bombs dropped within fifty feet of KTU tower. It is no joke. It is a real war–”
His hands began to tremble. War? Oh no, oh hell no. He’d had enough war in lifetime. First with Kronos and then with Gaea. He was not going to fight in another war, he wanted no part in it, especially a war against mortals. Killing insane Titans and Primordial beings was one thing, but humans? Humans who bled red? Humans in which the only difference between them is that their ambition wasn’t golden? Not humans. He’d avoided directly killing demigods, people with flesh and blood like him – maybe not like him, he felt more god than human these days, those people were more human than he was weren’t they? – before, but he had a feeling. This might not be something he could escape from. He clenched his fists as they began to tremble and the talking continued.
“The, uh…public of Honolulu has been advised to keep in their homes and away– uh from the Army and Navy. There has been serious fighting going on in the air and on the sea. The heavy shooting seems to be…”
Fuck. Was it just his mind or did everything seem to be closing in on him? It got way harder to breathe, like it was a struggle to inhale and exhale. He could feel shaking at the balls of his feet but he didn’t know where it was coming from. All he could hear was static in his ears. Was he dying? Was this the part where his life would flash before his eyes? Would he open his eyes (he doesn’t remember closing them) and be in Charon’s boat?
“--Percy!”
Something cut through the static. It sounded familiar, the voice (not like the voices in his head– something real). He heard the voice again, calling for someone. Percy? Who was Percy? Was that him? He didn’t know.
“Percy. You’re in New York right now and I need you to calm down sunshine.’
Annabeth? That sounded like Annabeth. But Annabeth wasn’t here, was she? (Suddenly it got a lot easier to breathe.)
“Sunshine, I need you to open your eyes.”
Well, if it was Annabeth, he could trust her. He opened his eyes hesitantly to see an IM of Annabeth in front of him. “Annabeth..” He let out a sigh, looking up at her. “... I– we’re going to have to fight. Again. Against mortals.”
“Percy you can’t think like that.”
“Yeah, you’re right I guess.”
-
“Yesterday the Japanese Government also launched an attack against Malaya. Last night Japanese forces attacked Hong Kong: Last night Japanese forces attacked Guam. Last night Japanese forces attacked the Philippine Islands. Last night the Japanese attacked Wake Island. And this morning the Japanese attacked Midway Island.
Japan has, therefore, undertaken a surprise offensive extending throughout the Pacific area. The facts of yesterday and today speak for themselves. The people of the United States have already formed their opinions and well understand the implications to the very life and safety of our Nation.
As Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy I have directed that all measures be taken for our defense.”
Percy began packing his bags, staring at the sheet of paper on his desk. He felt a surge of rage and bitterness thinking about it. He was supposed to be done with fighting, all of this. But no, now he has to go fight for a country he’s not even sure he wants to fight for. But he has to fight, he has to fight against another evil, an evil that's not something of the godly world, but someone (thing) so terribly human it disgusts him.
“But always will our whole Nation remember the character of the onslaught against us.
No matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people in their righteous might will win through to absolute victory.
I believe that I interpret the will of the Congress and of the people when I assert that we will not only defend ourselves to the uttermost but will make it very certain that this form of treachery shall never again endanger us.
Hostilities exist. There is no blinking at the fact that our people, our territory, and our interests are in grave danger.”
He slung the bag over his shoulder with the letter in his pocket, taking – possibly – one last look at his room before closing the door. He stepped out to see his mom and Annabeth standing beside each other. He couldn’t help but smile a little as he stepped forward to kiss his mom on the cheek. “I’m gonna miss you both. Ma, don’t get all lonely without me. Don’t forget I’m an IM– or a letter – away, don’t hesitate to reach out.” He couldn’t help but be upset. Paul was at Pearl Harbor and died (in water, in his domain, in his dad’s domain. He can’t forgive himself for that) and now he was being drafted. His mom would be all alone (because of him the voice in head head helpfully supplies).
“With confidence in our armed forces with the unbounding determination of our people we will gain the inevitable triumph so help us God.”
He turned to Annabeth and cupped her face, leaning in for a passionate kiss. He could taste the coffee on her tongue as he brushed his thumb over her cheek. After kissing way too long for being in front of his mother he pulled away. “I’ll be back. I promise. Never Again remember?” He said, his voice shaky, as if he was trying to convince himself more than her.
“Yeah.” She said back, her voice just as shaky as they pushed their foreheads together for a brief moment. Annabeth was the first one to pull back. “Go.”
“I ask that the Congress declare that since the unprovoked and dastardly attack by Japan on Sunday, December 7, 1941, a state of war has existed between the United States and the Japanese Empire.”
February 5, 1942 Percy Jackson left for war.

Hewwoo, Im considering commisioning you, but I've never used Kofi. I've seen you do them in waves (I guess similar to opening slots, makes sense), and that the minimum is 3 pounds (wait British moment). I do wonder, though, if the quantity of money is up to the person paying and you'll put the same effort into it, or if it's directly equivalent to how much effort you'll put? I hope I'm explaining myself well. I was thinking of paying more than 3 anyway but just to make sure hehee
i pretty much go whole hogg regardless of da amount im given. more money means i might make multiple drawings or i might put extra care in smaller deetz, but here's an example. idk if its weird to say how much i got for these so if it is i apologise & i will remove da examples.
left i got £12, mid i got £6, right i got £3.
i dont rlly draw w/ the amnt i get in mind, i just do what looks good to me in that piece. i always do colour unless asked not to. & i feel justified polishing if i get more £ but yeah, i rly wouldnt say it affects it much.
e.g. for the sally face rq i got enough to feel justified drawing 2 pics. i wanted to do it anyways, but seeing da price made me go "yep for sure"
for the character design req, the delivery was simple bc the effort was more put into designing it, which took a few hourz bc i went thru many ideas. but obv if the person wants an illustrated piece & not just a simple ref they can ask for it
hope this helps, u explained urself totally good thank u 4 asking. take care of urself :J !

i feel like the older and read the books at least 10 years ago percy jackson fans are less likely to be complaining about the show
from what im seeing from the latest episode (ep.6 - we take a zebra to vegas) i'm not seeing as many older fans complain as i am younger, newer fans
and it is not all of them, there are complaints coming from both sides and people loving it regardless from both sides, i personally just seem to see a difference
besides, all of these changes are being made by rick riordan, like y'know, the author
look, let me elaborate, spoilers for ep.6 if you haven't watched it
percy says he is going to santa monica to meet his dad. that isn't how it goes in the books, he is told to go to santa monica, but poseidon isn't meeting him there
‘If my father is so interested in me,’ I said, ‘why isn’t he here? Why doesn’t he speak to me?’ A cold current rose out of the depths. ‘Do not judge the Lord of the Sea too harshly,’ the Nereid told me. ‘He stands at the brink of an unwanted war. He has much to occupy his time. Besides, he is forbidden to help you directly. The gods may not show such favouritism.’ - the book
in the show, poseidon was going to meet percy but because the deadline passed, he had to leave
He waited as long as he could. The summer solstice passed earlier this evening. Zeus's deadline has elapsed. Your father has gone to marshal his forces and prepare for war. He asked that I relay a message. "This is not your fault. You were brave. You were strong. You made your father proud." - the show
like DUDE come on if you are mad he changed it to give us good dad poseidon you are out of whack
also to people saying 4 pearls and not 3, the prophecy is the same, he will fail to save what matters most in the end and that's sally. idk how rick is going to do it but let me tell you i am hyped to see it
(i would insert a comment about critical thinking skills and looking ahead but that feels too mean)
people will disagree with me and my opinion that the show is amazing regardless of the minor changes they made (i personally think the changes were good things that fill plot holes and make it better), and it's ok to disagree
and i want to make it very clear that younger, newer fans are just as valid as older, longer time fans. terms like "OG fan" are part of toxic fan culture that we need to drop bc it's not someone's fault if they didn't know about it or were too young to know about it (like so many newer pjo fans are younger than the book bc the book came out 19 years ago this year)

How do you keep a from-scratch pie proper up and not melting all over the place? I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I always end up burning my hands trying to push the crust up before it finally hardens enough to stay against the tin sides on its own and it's horrible, I just want my pumpkin pie... Also, how do you make peach pie?
i love you anon. why do i not get MORE asks about pie making on my writing prompt blog??
i cant diagnose your issues perfectly over the phone, but generally speaking a melting pie is a symptom of the ingredients not being cold enough. whatever fat you're using in your pie, make sure its as cold as possible without being frozen before you cut it in, and make sure you're not using too much.
pie dough should only just come together before being rolled out, it should never be sticky. your butter/lard/shortening, whatever, and your water/vodka etc should all be cold cold cold.
different altitudes and temperatures will effect how well a pie stays cold/comes out, so no matter what I usually throw my pie crust back in the freezer or fridge whenever im not actively working with it. sometimes even after it's been filled, if it looks a little soft.
i will say, since baking a pumpkin pie requires blind baking (usually), that can definitely be a little more finicky. the bottom of my pumpkin pies are usually a little melty directly post blind bake/its not unusual for one section of the crust to droop a little. i recommend dry beans vs metal or clay pie weights and again, very very cold ingredients (I sometimes freeze the flour too if im baking in florida).
while i work on my own personal peach pie recipe (in the works, to test further this summer), here's the link to a good one.
i trust sally of the above linked recipe blog with most baked goods so i recommend looking at her other pies etc as well.
peace love and pie

DUDE HI I SAW YOUR. TAGS ON MY FUCKED UP TOWNS POST? and i just wanna say. if you’d ever like to write something on here about the similarities between gotham and urinetown. it’s possible that i would love you forever. very likely, even.
*cracks neck*
okay fellas, ladies, local skipping stone enthusiasts, et al. it's time for another casual academic essay, i think.
note from me after writing the essay: cool so i dont think this is what you're looking for but...i wrote it...and im publishing it...
word count: 1895
one of the biggest purposes media has, or publishing any given piece of media has, is to teach its consumers a lesson- a moral, if you will. Beauty and the Beast tells us to not judge a book by its cover, Boy Who Cried Wolf tells us not to lie, Jack and the Beanstalk tells us to take advantage of an opportunity, that sort of thing. Every story has one. The only thing that varies is how it's communicated, and the obviousness as a result of the complexity of the story.
in the same vein, somewhere around the 1930's, you see the rise of something called Brechtian theatre. the entire shtick of brechtian theatre was basically a piece of theatre that reflected society itself. the moral came not so much from the story, but rather the actions of the characters that influenced the end result. because the characters reflect real life, we see ourselves in them and see in sort of a microcosm how our actions will influence an inevitable end result.
one of the hallmarks of brechtian theatre is the usage of reflection, or a mirror. Cabaret (Kander and Ebb) is well known for this. The 1972 film has an iconic opening with the Emcee (Joel Grey) staring at a distorted reflection of himself. The 1993 Broadway version with Alan Cumming as the Emcee is well known for not only its intimate staging, but yet another mirror that the audience can see themselves in, creating a reflection that reaches to all corners of the performance.
another show that is remarkably Brechtian is Urinetown (Kotis and Hollman). However, Urinetown does not utilize the mirror in order to make its point as a reflection of society. Rather, Urinetown breaks the 4th wall. The narrators, a rugged police officer called Officer Lockstock along with a little girl called Little Sally, both begin and end the show by addressing the audience directly. They are acutely aware of the world they live in. However, Urinetown breaks the mold of a typical piece of Brechtian theatre when they begin to overtly include political science into the story.
This isn't to say that no other pieces of Brechtian theatre utilize political science in their tales, but they often leave them to linger quietly in the background, unnamed. Brecht's play A Life of Galileo addresses the dangers and risks of a dictatorial government, but he never outright calls it out. He lets the audience figure it out for themselves. Cabaret does the same thing. They never directly verbally address the horrors of Nazi Germany, but through the use of imagery (the Emcee in a concentration camp outfit immediately comes to mind) they allow the audience to come to their own conclusions.
Urinetown however, is very obvious. Lots of things are said directly out loud, and there isn't too too much that is meant to be read between the lines as the result of Urinetown being simultaneously both a cautionary tale and a satire. The second to last line of the show is "Hail Malthus!", referencing Thomas Malthus, an English economist in the late 1700s and early 1800s. For a brief moment, the satire and the show's core message eclipse.
Now, it's important to emphasize the Malthusian theory in order to make my point later. I'm taking this simplified definition copied from Investopedia to keep things succinct. So, according to Malthus, to put lightly, without complicated jargon, "populations inevitably expand until they outgrow their available food supply, causing the population growth to be reversed by disease, famine, war, or calamity." Obviously, it's more complicated than just that, but at first glance you can see how it relates to Urinetown.
Cool. Now what happens when we apply all of that to Gotham City?
I know. We're doing a 180 here but just. bear with me. I got into Batman nearly right after being into Urinetown. My friend introduced me to the Marauders, and then my obsession with Gary Oldman led me to Nolan's Batman trilogy where he plays Commissioner Jim Gordon. One of the first things I noticed, after going through roughly four different versions of Jim Gordon- two movies and two comic books- is that he's very frequently in the position of a Narrator. That was fascinating to me and I couldn't help but draw comparisons between Jim Gordon and Officer Lockstock- both cops and both narrators.
Another thing that's present in virtually every single rendition of Batman is the emphasis that Gotham is a broken city. It doesn't matter how you paint it, whether it's Film Noir, or some other aesthetic, it is always corrupt and riddled with crime. In Todd Phillips' Joker, it's emphasized time and time again that Arthur Fleck lives in poverty in a city so covered in trash that the rats have gone supersized.
So, Gotham city is obviously a very corrupt, shitty place to be. Nobody likes living in Gotham. Does that make it Malthusian? Or does that make it Brechtian?
I know i just wrote an entire essay solely for the purpose of getting to the thesis of my actual essay but the context was important.
Now, the main differences between the two terms lies in the fact that Malthusianism is related to real life things, where Brecht is almost always related to fiction. So naturally, you'd go "oh, well then Gotham has to be Brechtian because it's fictional". Not entirely. See, yes, Gotham is a fictional city, but it's well known for being based off of New York, New Jersey and Chicago. Those cities are very, very real. You've got this fictional city, based off of real cities, that is inherently and intrinsically corrupt. So which one is it?
On one hand, you could argue that Gotham is Brechtian in nature because it is first and foremost a fictional thing. It's basis off of real life cities allows for the reflection of society to emerge naturally. On the other, you could just as easily say that Gotham is Malthusian in nature because it's inherently pulled from real life cities. And it kind of is.
Most Batman stories follow the same pattern. Joker remains a good example. The city is in turmoil, everyone's living in poverty, the cost of living is unbearable, and it results in riots and an uprising from the people. The poor fighting the rich. While not entirely the same, The Dark Knight Rises shows a similar idea. While the antagonistic form does not necessarily come from the rich, but rather a madman in a mask (Bane), the cost of living is still so risky and unstable that it results in a literal war between the people and the cops. This idea of an uprising as a result of absolutely abysmal living conditions is something we've seen time and time again in our own society, and now it's present in a city (although fictional) based off of real places. In this respect, Gotham is a place that is Malthusian in nature.
Still, this doesn't solve the problem that at the end of the day, Gotham is still a nonexistent place. Which is where the argument of it being Brechtian comes into play. Everything said in the last paragraph is still true, but now you're adding a layer over it that emphasizes that it's fictional. It's a corrupt city with unfair costs of living...but it's fictional. Well now it's the most Brechtian thing since Bertolt himself. We've seen this picture before. It's the life that we live. The writer of Batman himself has said, "figuratively, Batman's Gotham City is akin to "Manhattan below 14th Street at eleven minutes past midnight on the coldest night in November". It's basis in countless real life cities must then make it a reflection of what is real. I think Gotham is kind of like the image you would get if you overlayed every single big city over each other. Like a spirograph- there are all these lines that exist on their own, but there's always one main circle that becomes more prominent than the others because it's been traced over more times. That's Gotham to me.
So if Gotham is- to take from Bojack- kind of a xerox of a xerox of a shitty city, then it inevitably allows us to fill in the blanks with our own preconceived notions of what a bad city is. We fill in the details ourselves, and those details are going to vary from person to person. We're going to interpret the injustice present in Gotham contingent on the injustices we've seen in our own lives. For example, I personally think that there would be a really strong conservative/republican presence in Gotham because in my own life (as a queer person who lives in a city) I've seen a lot of injustice in that respect. In my experience, the government does not like queer people, and I'm going to project that onto my interpretation of Gotham.
This way, Gotham is more Brechtian than it is Malthusian.
I don't think it's really one or the other. I think it depends on how you view Gotham. If you view Gotham as a purely fictional city in its own right, then it's Brechtian. If you view Gotham as a fictional city with its roots in reality, then it becomes Malthusian.
I wanted to conclude with something my friend told me when I was discussing this with her. I ran all of this by her and she said that it couldn't be either because at the end of the day Gotham does not exist. It cannot be Malthusian because it does not exist. Where Urinetown (the place) is a composite of every shitty thing wrong with society placed into one bubble, it still has the merit to remain fictional in essence because it is purely made of negative things. Gotham is just a city. They're different in essence, and Gotham can't be one or the other because of nuance. Every city is going to have awful things. But no city has just awful things. Gotham can be whatever we want it to be because it's not real. If you're going to call it either Malthusian or Brechtian, or even any other term you want, it has to have something to start from, and that's not possible because Gotham isn't real.
I think there's sort of an ouroboros that occurs here because if it's not real then all our notions of the place are going to come from preconceived ideas which then makes Gotham a place that reflects real life, etc, etc, but it's important to remember that Gotham also has Batman. We don't.
What did we learn today, well, we talked about the origins of Brechtian theatre, and then we did a little scene study on how Malthusianism is presented in Urinetown. We then shifted gears to look at Gotham city, and if it fit more in either particular mold. I think it kind of fits in both molds depending on which one you want it to fit it, and then we finished off by looking at the option that Gotham is neither because it doesn't exist.
I think that Jim Gordon and Officer Lockstock would be good friends, but I'd be hesitant to introduce them because it could go very south very fast.
This essay is my own take and if you disagree that's cool.
Stay funky, think critically and love the people around you.
#thank you for the ask and i am so so...so sorry...#batman#urinetown#like okay i feel like this essay is the similarity between the two. urinetown the place and gotham city are both cut from the same cloth#because they're both awful places. but they differ in what theyre made up of

Sweet sappy prompt: it’s been a few years since Percy and Nico have seen each other, they talk sometimes via iris messages but haven’t actually seen each other face to face. Nico has been off doing whatever chore Hades makes him do and Per y has been trying(and failing) to live a semi normal life, including learning how to braid his now four year old sister’s hair. One day Nico pops in saying that he is going to need him for a quest in a few days and Sally and Paul force Nico to stay over in the mean time. Nico sees Estelle’s braids and compliments Sally, only for him to be surprised that it was Percy. Right before they go on their quest, Nico asks Percy if he can braid his hair since he has been so busy that he hasn’t cut it in a while and it got fairly long. They both don’t know why they are so embarrassed or why their hearts are racing so much over braiding hair.
It was strange how life worked out. When he was 16, he never thought he'd ever truly get close to Nico di Angelo, and that his friendships with other demigods would be forever. Yet, here he was, 22, a college dropout working as a cashier and still living with his parents and dealing with monster attacks every week or so. Most of his friends had moved on and had their own lives now (or in Annabeth's case, were too pissed by his dropping out and their break up to keep contact).
The only person from his past he talked regularly with was Nico.
He knew he was mostly a dead man switch, though. Nico would call twice a week. If he didn't, it meant he was in trouble and Percy would go rescue him (not that it had ever happened).
Speaking of, Nico was supposed to call that day, wasn't he? Percy wondered if something happened.
Well, nothing said he couldn't be the one to call for once, right?
Decided he opened the door to the apartment and almost had a heart attack.
Nico, in the flesh, was on the other side, looking serious.
"I need your help."
"Di Immortales!" Percy swore. "Give a heads up when you do that!"
"Nico, I'm done!" His younger sister called. "Come here!"
Nico sighed and turned around, putting on a soft smile as he sat by Estelle and her construction block tower.
"Impressive," he praised. Now that his back was to him, Percy noticed how long his hair had gotten. It reached below his shoulders. "It's almost as tall as you!"
Percy shook his head at his sister complaining about how tall she actually was and went to the kitchen, where his mother was finishing dinner.
"Hi, mom," he said and kissed his cheek. "How long has Nico been here?"
"Just an hour or so," she answered with a smile. "Said he needed to tell you something in person."
"Huh," he said. Now that was a surprise. "Need help with anything?"
"Just set the table, honey, I'm almost done."
Percy nodded and set to work. Nico was sitting at the table, resting while Paul took over playing with Estelle.
"She really knows hows how to tire people out, huh?" he teased. Nico grunted and opened an eye. "So, what do you need help with?"
"It's nothing dangerous," he said. "But it's a quest that kind of needs two people... I need to settle a dispute between two minor gods, but they won't speak directly to each other... Or to someone who spoke to the other. It's a mess."
"Couldn't you sent me an IM for it?" he asked. "Don't get me wrong, it's great to see you in person after so long, but this doesn't seem that urgent."
"One of the gods is Iris so..." Nico shrugged. "Anyways, the actual parlay will be tomorrow, so I just came to ask if you would help. I'll be on my way soon."
"Tomorrow, you say?" Sally's voice made them jump a bit. "Then please, stay. You can sleep in Percy's room!"
"That's really not—"
"I insist," his mom said in her cheery voice that left no space to argue. "It seems like you haven't had a decent meal in a while."
Nico turned to glance at him, but he just nodded encouragingly. It would be nice to have Nico around.
"Sure," he said. "It'll be my pleasure."
---
"Your hair is so pretty and long," Estelle said in wonder while they ate. "Mommy keeps mine short."
"Well, yours is much better kept than mine," Nico said. Percy would have never guessed his friend knew how to deal with children. "Your mom braided your hair so nicely."
Estelle giggled and shook her head, while their parents chuckled. Percy could only blush as he hid behind his fork.
"What?" Nico asked, bemused.
"Mommy didn't do that! It was Percy!" She said loudly. Nico turned to look at him and he tried his best to avoid his gaze.
"I... picked it up after dropping out of college," he muttered.
"Percy watched around 80 videos on it," Paul piped, making Percy shrink in embarrassment. "Fashion influencers, how to videos, I think even a mom youtuber."
"Okay, so I looked it up!" Percy exclaimed loudly. "I wanted to pitch in with my sister in some way while I got a job, sue me!"
"I'm just kidding," Paul said, raising his hands. "We appreciate you helping us with Estelle."
"Yeah, I love my braids!" the little girl declared. "No one does them like Percy!"
"Yeah, it's cute," Nico said, giving one of his rare, small smiles.
Now Percy was blushing for a whole other reason. Did Nico mean Estelle's braids or...?
"So, Nico, you were telling us about Lisbon?" Sally asked, sensing Percy's discomfort.
He sighed in relief as Nico went back to explaining his last quest, tracking missing souls through Portugal.
---
"Percy?" Nico whispered so low the son of Poseidon might have missed it if not for the fact that the inflatable mattress was right by his bed. "You awake?"
"Yup," Percy whispered back. To be honest, something about Nico being in his room made him too alert. He had been awake for an hour already.
"I was thinking... I don't look the part to mediate in a godly conflict, do I?"
Percy wanted to reassure Nico, but he had to admit he looked like a cross between a hobo and an 80s metalhead.
"Well..."
"I've been busy, okay?" He snapped. "I haven't had time to cut my hair. That I shampoo at all is a miracle as it is!"
"You were the one to bring it up, not me."
"Well, since you seem to be an expert I was wondering if... if you could braid my hair like you did with Estelle..."
Percy coughed. The request somehow felt personal... intimate.
"You sure?" he asked. "My only experience is my little sister, so I don't know how good it'll turn out."
"Anything's better than this," he said, pointing at his hair.
"A-alright," Percy said, swallowing. "Just... sit with your back to me, I'll do my best."
Nico obeyed him wordlessly. Percy's hands were trembling as he took the first strand of Nico's hair and started combing it with his fingers. The son of Hades tensed for a second before relaxing.
As Percy worked, he couldn't help but think of how different this felt from when he did it to his sister. It felt like Nico was letting him inside in a way he never allowed anyone else.
It made him feel special. Like he was showing Nico how much he... cherished him, or something.
The seconds became minutes as Percy worked on Nico's hair, his heartbeat increasing every time Nico sighed or moved.
What was happening to him?
"There, done," he forced himself to say after a while. Nico stood up and saw himself on the mirror Percy had on his desk that he never used.
Nico reminded Percy of those statues of young, beautiful men from Ancient Greece, and Percy couldn't help but think no one would doubt the existence of demigods if they saw Nico right then.
"How do I look?" He asked uncertainly. And Percy could feel his heart pick up the pace like he was running the marathon.
Percy tried to shake his head, to get a clear head. It was still Nico, his friend, the guy who once said he was not his type. Even if he was feeling... something. This was something that had no future!.
"Perfect," he still said, because there was no other word to describe Nico.
The son of Hades smiled gratefully, and Percy knew he was lost.

okay so for the new season I have an Idea/AU/Headcanons/Thing:
These two are not Dizzy and Jett, but instead they're their siblings. Left is 'Dazey', right is 'Flash' (ty to @stormvanari for this ideaaaa). They look very similar to Dizzy and Jett themselves, they may look like twins with them but they're younger. Idc
Since I made 'Dazey' and 'Flash' seperate from the first SWs...and Marty, Lucie, Traver, Sally...and no Astra either even though this is a space season (but I don't think Donnie is gonna appear either, because I don't think they kept his name and I think Marty is not a mechanic/inventor character like Donnie either)...all of the SWs are now back at the Airport. Although Dizzy, Donnie, Jerome, Mira, etc. are all back in their respective bases shown in season 2 (shown below). Their old hangars (shown in season 1) are remodeled and given to characters who directly debuted in the Aircraft (like Crystal, Bucky, Sunny, etc.).
Continuing the above headcanon, they now do freelance work. They are still signed under the World Airport/craft but they are not *actively* working there anymore. But they do jobs for them time to time!
Although they are all chilling now mostly (specifically the main 6 aka Jett, Dizzy, Donnie, Jerome, Astra, and Paul). Even if their perspective on 'chilling' differs. (For example Donnie likes to lay down, maybe tinker with some small device. Jett does airshows. Jerome sleeps a lot and maybe hang out with Donnie sometimes. Dizzy goes to hiking. Paul solves cases. Astra loves to experiment on random stuff and now that shes back in her base at space she can blow up things with them without hurting anyone heheheheh)
Now I do think that...and the characters are all seperate in the new season for me...the events in the movie happened. Even if in the canon the movie probably takes place in a different universe, in this AU/headcanon/thing the movie DID happened. They had a different Super Charge. The reason I write this bc the SWs all realized they needed a vacation after all that.
All of the SWs, except for Tino, stayed back. Tino wanted to experience space after all the years of being frozen. Also he was very excited to see Sally again (hc they were friends but they got seperated)
Rover is, well, Rover. He appeared in every season.
anyway ty for reading bye. im gonna human-ify the newbies soon

⭐️ something you're so proud of that you wanted us to notice but we haven't yet bc !!! it's all so good and we are Sick in the Head
mmmm.... I think while I'm here I'm gonna expose myself for the derivative hack i am and go thru all the stuff that are nods to other things I like! & maybe explain a little if i feel the need to flap my arms excitedly about it. PART 2 | PART 3
"it's you" "its me" - the opening. Obviously hadestown! Obviously it's the thing they say each other when Orpheus rescues Eurydice from the underworld, so is that not similar to healing someone from being dropped lol
This is such a strange pull, but when Jace says "He feels so… small. Like he’s getting the silent treatment from a disappointed parent. Maybe that’s why Porter always felt so familiar to him" I was actually thinking abt bojack horseman. Diane comes from a home full of dysfunction & for some reason I can't get the time she told him "you're the biggest asshole I know and the only thing that makes sense to me" out of my head.
"maybe it was nothing, but he swears he could feel the warmth of a hearth, and her reaching out for him once more" — Kinda a stretch but this was meant to evoke a Hadestown kinda feeling as well. Obviously b/c Ankarna is rage n the sun and the infernal realm is full of the fire motif i wanted to use a hearth b/c there's a more positive connotation w/ fire but. Just the general vibe of "I want a nice soft place to land, I wanna lie down forever". A big point of Jace's resentment at his situation is rage at being denied life but even rest.
The Motivational Poster: PAIN IS WEAKNESS LEAVING THE BODY n "Instead, an unwilling shriek of a laugh erupts from his throat, and Jace clamps down on his own mouth in horror." that leads into “Incredible,” says Porter, watching in bemusement as Jace tries to fight back tears and laughter brought on by shock. There’s a shooting pain in his sides, he’s shaking so hard. The poster is just so ugly, and he’s so fucked, and he’s in so much pain. - This is such a weird pull. Obviously the poster is meant to be silly and ironic, but i'm skating past that. Actually, I was thinking abt Brennan's story abt the car crash he experienced from Dirty Laundry. He tells his story abt how the car trenched a crater and came just shy of a woodchuck hole and he went to rescue his milano cookies from the car and he was like. Laughing from the shock of it all. I think this idea of laughing out of shock & like amazement n reconciling your own mortality was just very true and striking. Like to me that's kinda what is going on here to me. It's like. Jace is laughing bc the poster is so ugly bc also b/c its like. Wow im so screwed over im so fucked i'm so painfully mortal and my grasp on life is so tenuous and my mortality as a half elf was always something i was aware of and anxious of and feared and avoided looking directly at but in this moment there's a weird. Power in it. A relief in it. An I've always been afraid of death, in fact i'm so afraid of death I chose servitude (and porter) over hell, but he's realizing his power in this situation. He's always viewed himself as dispensable but Porter doesn't need any old spellcaster for the plan, he wants it to be jace.
THE CREASE BETWEEN JACE'S EYEBROWS: “I’ve never seen you so thrilled at your own mortality. I said last week you had a crease between your eyebrows and the next day you called in sick.” and “The line. Between your brows. Right… there. It—“ and “It… used to only show up when you were angry with me, but—” and the times Porter brings up in the flashback. Obviously this thing makes an appearance several times. I feel like this one is maybe a little on the nose, this is When Harry Met Sally. There's something about the intimacy of noticing small details about people that i love in Harry's final speech to sally. something like "I love the little crinkle above your nose when you're looking at me like i'm nuts!" And it keeps coming back b/c like. Its intimacy. Of noticing the details of someone. But also. The reminder of aging. It used to only show up when he was angry—angry with Porter. Again, that concept of anger, of rage. But also, it's sort of just become on of Jace's wrinkles on his face. Due to stress or aging, could be both. Porter's impact on him. But also. That's just the nature of change. That's just the reminder of Jace's mortality.
"He tries to recall anger, but he’s found it completely dissolved. Even with the shatterstar, it’s impossible." This is also When Harry Met Sally. When Harry gives Sally his big speech, she says "You see, harry? That is just like you, Harry. You say these things and you make it impossible for me to hate. you! And I hate you harry. I really hate you". This was kinda my take on that. Porter keeping piling on the compliments about Jace's appearance, but there's also this noticing of something kinda intimate and personal and imperfect, too. Doing something offbeat that throws jace (and being thrown offcenter being kinda like a whole Trope for jaceporter bc their first interaction being jace saying "everything you say is creepy"). And for someone who clings to the pass, he sure keeps mentioning this sign of Jace's mortality. Sign of his aging. Something about Sally saying she hated harry really just fit here b/c like. Porter is a centerpiece for rage and betrayal for Jace. His whole Thing is rage, and there's that betrayal of y'know. Being killed and brought back wrong by your situationship. Yet there's this strange and intimate acknowledgement of his impermanence and aging that like. Kinda moves jace. (There's also the fact that he's letting go some of his anxiety about aging n death in this fic b/c he's trying to reclaim his power by essentially using his mortality as like. A tool to protect himself from Porter). There's also the tragic fatalistic "I was made to love you" angle that is kinda the undercurrent in this fic. Like. Jace wants to be angry with Porter. But even though he has literally been contorted into a being who like. Runs on rage. In this moment, he cannot find his anger.
"He needs to do something stupid. Again, it’s in his nature. His bones ache down to the marrow for him to cave to impulses that will ruin his whole life. He can see the car crash, but he knows what he’s going to do. He’s known from the minute he Dimension Doored them into Porter’s office." This is such a Fleabag moment lol. There's a scene where she's telling her therapist that she wants to fuck a priest (which is already like SO Jaceporter coded b/c the therapist is like "do you want to fuck a priest or do you want to fuck god" and she says "can you fuck god?" "oh, yes" which like. IS ALSO EXTREMELY RELEVANT TO WHATS GOING ON IN IYWD b/c its just like does Jace love Porter as a man or as his creator? Does he want someone he could do laundry and taxes with or does he want someone to Tell Him What To DO. On some level Jace loves Porter as he is but also there's so much talk later on of Jace essentially wanting to be possessed and yanked around by him and told what to do etc etc). Anyway. she's begging the therapist to tell her what to do and the therapist is like. "You already know what you're going to do. Everybody does. You've already decided." Anyway. I had such a hard time trying to find a Reason for Porter and Jace to just like. Want to sleep with each other and take that step. But I. Realized that Jace has. Ankarna in him and she has shaped so much of how he has become post-shatterstar. Every moment of conviction and decisiveness and seizing of the moment is like. That becomes a Statement. That's all an invocation of Ankarna. He always knew he was going to return to Porter, to try and sleep with him because he has all of ankarna's conviction. And that could be contrived but I think that actually matters so much when the story is about how trauma has changed Jace, but also how being remade has changed jace and how he feels alienated from who he used to be. And again, there's the undercurrent of fatalism b/c he was made to love Porter. This was always going to happen

Each to their own! I see why you say that, he probably looks more like a child to me because of his height and more 'child-like' features? Eh that's the best way i can describe it, although i am aware that he is of age. As long as boundaries are respected, I'm okay! but i will still give side eye towards people who ship frank and Julie... that ship mainly because- 1 frank is married, 2 they are friends- like no (not going to go out of my way to attack people who ship them i just find it icky and avoid that ship)
Im just happy that welcome home has the attention it needs.. Lets lighten up the mood! Why is eddie and howdy your favorite characters? For me, I loved how unique frank's design was, same for howdy and i love eddie and juile for their personalities! (I also like franny's design a lot! Anyone else? Just me?)
What do you think frank's favorite butterfly would be? Or would he not be able to choose? Hmm maybe a blue monarch? Or maybe something less comonly known? (Personally I think frank would like swallowtail ones more (if that's what they are called- i might be thinking of moths or birds there))
An essay to read as allways! (Sorry-)
I have never encountered a frank/julie ship art so far, thankfully! sure people can draw whatever they want but I feel like it's an erasure of their identities? mostly because I see it through my "two puppets who are undeniably queer pushed into a cisheteronormavity situation by their caretaker figures" lenses. if anything I personally see frank and julie as platonic soulmates, two people who are closer than friends but not lovers. they love each other dearly! they're paired together! the two stooges! romantic love isn't the only type of love and frank and julie's interactions definitely show it
as for why those two are my faves! I love eddie because well, I like big hunky guys who can get silly. it's my track record. I also see the potential for his character to be a complex one like wally. even though nobody made fun of him directly, it's kind of sad to see his forgetfulness and struggles get brushed off by most of the cast. though he doesn't seem to mind it either. eddie seems to be written as the comic relief in the show, but in the "answer" pages his voice has more integrity into it. NOW I MIGHT BE STRETCHING JUUUUST A BIT but I hope there's gonna be a conflict between these two parts of him. one that acts as the comic relief who acts like he's not bothered and one that wants to be taken seriously for once. I love drama. I love character realizations. I also have a slight fear that he's gonna be a cannon fodder uhuhuhuuuuu
I love howdy because something about him hits differently compared to the rest of the cast. his freedom symbolism (adult caterpillar, the only one in his family who didn't turn into a butterfly). the way he has an "idgaf I have a job" attitude. his voice is also great and I love it. I hope he gets meaner (the same goes for sally) because I think it's gonna be a great plot stirrer. despite his slyness and emotional intelligence he looks like he'll be master contrarian in a group. he knows his way with words, he knows how to get the reaction he wanted out of people, I love him.
I think frank wouldn't be able to choose exactly which one is his favorite!!! he loves butterflies!!! there's just so many of them to choose from!! monarch butterflies are the most popular and iconic type, I reckon he has it in his collection.... he'd love swallowtail butterflies, those are pretty little creatures, and I think he'd love janetta forester and pieridae too!

pjo ep4. pacing is weird. it felt way too short which is weird bc the chimera and the arch was a MASSIVE thing in the book but at least they kept the ending w the naiad and him learning to breathe underwater. the scene of the three and echidna talking in the train was wayyy too long i was so bored. the fight scene w percy at the top of the arch was super fast i've noticed there is little to no actual action in this show like i wanted the cgi to go all out in the fight scenes but the minotaur fight was super super super dark and there was ZERO music which. wtf. and the clarisse fight was pretty good but this chimera scene was extremely lackluster like stop fucking talking. the chimera looked weird too i don't think there was enough color on it to differentiate the lion/goat/scorpion parts and it would've been really great to get a wide shot of the full form chimera + echidna so itd be really threatening. and there wasnt a lot of lore dropped w them either at least not like there was w medusa which is weird bc i thought they would've been setting a precedent w medusa and making every monster they encounter on their journey help us understand both greek mythology esp for people who havent read the books AND percy and his relationship w his parents. im hoping we get to see gabe being more of a dick on the news after this episode bc i really wanna see him more violent. make us hate him more yk. bc rn he's just pathetic.
but most importantly i've seen this thing go on with the entire show so far and it's that no one fucking talks like real people least of all the golden trio. stop saying "mother" and "father" no one fucking says that least of all these kids of single parents many of whom would rather pour chiron's horse shit into the campfire than show their godly parents the tiniest modicum of respect. no one has interjections like "um" "uh" or "like," no one says "bro" or "dude" not even between percy and grover which is completely absurd like i cannot understate how much it bothers me that we're only told that percy and grover have been friends for years bc if i didn't know better i'd say they've known each other as long as percy and annabeth have. not to mention annabeth's "she [thalia] fought valiantly" in ep3 which is so utterly bonkers annabeth isn't some kinda "old soul" she's a kid with neglectfully abusive parents (which we arent even shown the affects of!! she has to tell it to percy directly for some reason!!! this show has a massive problem with telling instead of showing) who's passionate about architecture and her godly parent. she's just a really fuckin smart kid. now that im typing it all out it's really not as big of a deal to me as the others but it's just fucking weird. but ig if u look at it from some specific angles it's in character. but whatever. i still love her to death for that candy scene in the gas station last episode
but going back to the dialogue thing percy and grover being dumb preteen boy best friends and calling each other "dude" and "bro" 1. shows us instead of just tells us that they've been friends for a long time, 2. has annabeth roll her eyes a bunch (a notable character trait) and shows us she's a little stuck up but more lonely than anything else, and then 3. gives the opportunity to endear percy and grover to annabeth so to not just grow the relationship between all three (golden trio!!! so important) but also the percy/annabeth slow burn AND the healing of the past grover/annabeth relationship which both of them are so so so guilty about. idk i think i need more one-on-one grover/annabeth scenes yet considering we haven't had A SINGLE ONE
last negative thing but the pool flashback at the beginning felt extremely ooc for sally. like i know how important it is for percy to learn to swim esp since he literally doesn't know who his dad is but she was being such a dick!!!! first of all ur kid is clearly more stressed out about swimming than u r about him NOT swimming and second of all it is totally unnecessary to be doing this in PUBLIC swim lessons. like u can see sally looking around at all the other parent/kid pairs like sorry ur worried about how u look to the fucking pool pta but ur kid is fucking terrified. give it another goddamn day give the kid a break. the real sally would never sally jackson i love you i love you i love you
what i DID like about this episode was the opening shot underwater, it reminded me a lot of the movie and controversial opinion but the show could actually use being quite a bit more like the movie bc it was actually pretty good even if it didnt follow the story whatsoever. i liked the shot of the centaurs on the train and i thought i also remembered that from the movie but i think i just remembered seeing the shot in my head when i was reading the book which is actually really impressive. the three getting into real world trouble w the cops is very accurate, percy sitting in the fountain while grover and annabeth splash him was funny, and i ESPECIALLY loved percy pulling a fast one on annabeth at the top of the arch i think it really shows off his self sacrificing nature imo better than him rushing the minotaur in ep1 bc we know his character better by now and we're more emotionally invested. and i really loved that they kept percy's way of learning he could breathe underwater + the naiad from poseidon
actually im not done being neg i really wish they would've kept "isn't that a kind of anteater?" and "prove your bloodline" which would lead to percy purposefully jumping off the arch instead of falling. idk it feels like we're slowwwlllyyy growing to see percy being percy bc im gonna be honest. rn he doesn't have much of a personality. where is persassy. bc i cant fuckin see him
anyway it was a fun episode if a bit slow. it had it's moments. im excited for waterland and the tunnel of looooove next week though :33

will i need ur professional opinion on this what do you think the archie sonic status quo wouldve looked like post mecha sally deroboticization. since the freedom fighters are basically as good as disbanded anyways that would leave sonic with a similar lack of direction like when robotnik died but the world tour gimmick was kind of done with team fighters anyways so doing it again would feel stale. and i know eggman is still there but i cant really see him being the main big bad like he used to before bc the mobotropolis shield thing kind of halts any eggman plots in their tracks. so unless something with the city changes eggman isnt really as much of a looming presence like he used to be so idrk what the central conflict wouldve been had preboot been allowed to go on <- guy who doesnt watch bumblekast
my brain is kind of on a different wavelength rn but i wouldn't say the ffs are fully disbanded considering the circumstances that led to the split to begin with. if sally and bunnie both came back and antoine woke up (all of which would presumably happen, i think antoine SHOULD be disabled but idk if he would be, maybe he'd get partially roboticized to regain some mobility which i think could do well for his relationship with bunnie considering she always hated that she was partially roboticized and antoine always loved her for it, and now the person she loves most in the world is also that way. so its harder to hate herself about it because she realizes that she loves antoine just the same) then the team would essentially be reassembled. i also kind of assumed bunnie went to beaux asking to be legionized after antoine's coma, i dont remember where i got that idea though and if it was confirmed or not. cool if true though. but anyways that would mean shes also back in fighting trim.
mecha sally was def like you said one of the Big Arcs that causes a really really serious upset, so i'd figure immediately post would be a lot of really lax stuff, little character stories and things, and yeah probably sonic getting antsy about not having anything to do. tho ofc considering comic and game series story trends, i figure they wouldnt Kill robotnik or anything, he would just kind of be put out of commission for a long while in one way or another. the next arc would probably focus on some otherworldly threat instead of eggman, sort of like the gaia situation in reboot/unleashed. just to give eggman a break and feel less like But wait he isnt dead! eggman surprise. yk. but i mean even if it seems like theres no possible way for eggman to become a problem again, he always will because he is the main antagonist and the story can't really go on without him and still call itself sonic.
also also since im pretty sure a lot of the hurried cleanup regarding the echidnas was directly related to the incoming reboot and the lawsuit, a lot of that probably would not have happened. which means that the dark legion would still exist as a threat even if eggman was gone. if eggman died lien-da would GLADLY step up to the plate
#asks157#sth#hope this answers ur question ?#and ftr i also dont watch bumblkast lmfao#ALSO SIDENOTE im not using the name will anymore just rival

Im going to add to and edit this post later. This is something I'm working on on my family tree. This is from my family tree and a section I'm researching right now. Some of the Bennett siblings and some of the Lord siblings ended up as couples. I also grew up in the the church of Christ and I was looking to see if I had a family history of this way back in my family. There isn't much and I'm grasping at straws with this. Sarah Bagby and Joseph Noah Cantrell were my great grandparents. Here is Sarah Bagby's parents and grandparents. I've been to the graves of Joe and Sarah and Bill and Nancy and Nancy parents Bill and Sarah. Sou great grandmother was named after both of her grandmas I was told.

"Webster county state of Missouri. I, William W. Shaver a legal minister of the gospel, did solemnize the rites of matrimony between William S. Bagby and Nancy C. Lord on the 8th day of August 1872.
William W. Shaver
A Minister of the Gospel"
In red is from the real written copy that I saw in online archives but it was blurry when I did a screen shot or the other option made it to small to read so I wrote it out.
You may notice Ws Bagby and Nancy C. Bagby in the church list. They were my 2x great grandparents. I looked at some info for William Wilson Shaver. He was also a minister in the Christian church and a part of the Stone-Campbell/Restoration Movement. My most immediate family subscribes to the church of Christ which is part of the same movement. I never knew where it started. I think this might be a coincidence. This is on my dad's side and actually on his father's side. I never met my grandfather because he passed away before I was born. It was my understanding that he didn't go to church. I know my granny did with us. I know my grandfather's father was a bad person and very mean. It was his wife who was the daughter of Ws Bagby and Nancy Lord.
Also Nancy Lord Bagby's Parents were William (bill) Lord and Sarah J. Bennett. Nancy was the only child ever listed on census records with her parents. I don't have any indication that there were ever more. This feels really unusual for the time but perhaps they couldn't have more.
I noticed that Sarah Lord is in the church list. Bill Lord was also still alive and I don't see him in the church member list. Ws Bagby's Parents were John Bagby and Sarah. I believe that Sarah's Maiden name was Todd and that she was the sister of Thomas Todd...he was the minister of the church members listed above. John and Sarah (Todd) Bagby moved to Texas and we're not here to be in this church. In fact I'm unsure of when they passed away and they may not have been alive at this time... I do not know what church they went to if any. I also can't prove that Sarah was one of the Todds but a lot of the family researchers believe this.
Here is another side note. This appears to be a very tight knit group. I wouldn't expect any less. Below is something on the find a grave site. This is the grave for the daughter of William Shaver who married my 2x great grandparents. You might notice her married name is Isabell Yandle. You might notice this name on the church list of Thomas Todd's church members. Her husband was John W. Yandle according to this site and the photo of the tombstone. I haven't looked for documents to prove this. I don't have any reason to think they are related to me but honestly anyone In this church list could be as tight knit as they were. I'm still looking at the members. I will say a lot of my ancestors and related people are in the New Grove Cemetery.
I will give updates as I have them.
