i have a few song recommendations:
Happy Hurts by Icon For Hire (specifically from the acoustic album bc idk how different the og version is)
Good Morning Sunshine by The Narcissist Cookbook
Art Of Improvisation by tnbee (this one just makes me think of when you talk about your glory days tbh) (its a character demo soundtrack from genshin)
Here Comes A Thought by Estelle from Steven Universe
the entire Dear Evan Hansen soundtrack tbh (but Waving Through A Window, Anonymous Ones, and You Will Be Found notably)
The Bidding by Tally Hall
and i have realized this is more than a few im sorry 😅 you dont have to listen to all of them you can just pick a few lol
i'm not familiar with any of these specific songs. they all seem to be outside my usual interests. but hey, why don’t i queue them since you asked?
Tumblr media
i have heard of dear evan hansen and tally hall before, but only in passing. seems like they're pretty popular around tumblr.

k but :(( chubby reader dancing in the kitchen with basketball!abby (im obsessed with her) CRIES
now this. ohhhhhh my god. she's so cute.
so im gonna be a little bit self indulgent with this one and say you were listening to the Steven Universe soundtrack while cooking dinner, waiting for Abby to get home and, once she was home, waiting for her to get out of the shower.
So when she steps out of the bathroom, wearing a pair of her boxers and one of your t-shirts, her hair still wet and feeling refreshed from practice, she immediately makes her way to you.
You're standing in the kitchen, floating from fridge to stove to counter, finishing up her favorite pasta, when Love Like You starts playing. And you get all smiley and giddy, because this song is so you and Abby, the first time you heard it after you got together you cried.
So Abby, who knows and loves this song, comes up behind you and goes "C'mere honey", pulls you away from the stove and turns you around so she can place her hands on your hips, swaying with you. The entire space is kind of dim, with only the low stove lights on and the tv humming in the background.
She pulls you close, smiling when you wrap your hands around her neck and pull her down, pressing your foreheads together as you dance. Neither of you are really speaking, just enjoying the contact (bc abby smells so good right after her shower, all clean n sweet n like pine and her <3) and listening to the song. But eventually Abby starts whispering the lyrics to you, keeping eye contact the entire time, and it makes you so goddamn soft you almost start crying
"I always thought I might be bad, now I'm sure that it's true, cause I think you're so good and I'm nothing like you. Look at you go, I just adore you"
A few tears slip down your chubby cheeks, pressing into Abby's face as you place a soft kiss on her lips, letting her lead you two through the rest of the song <3
can . can you guys tell I need this. like dancing with someone to this specific song. bc I do. badly. also I have not truly written in like two days so if this is weird uhhhhhhh sorry

I know this might be kinda stupid but. do you have any music recs. specifically of the child abuse variety because I'd be very interested in that.
*sweats* ok so here's the thing- I have a playlist called "Abuse" and its full of music that is either explicitly about abuse, related to abuse thematically, or just has Abuse Vibes to me (some of which is likely inexplicable to other people)
im also kind of self conscious about my taste in music, cause sometimes it's like. i dunno. the steven universe soundtrack or a fnaf song i really like. and thats CRINGE! and really any genre of song can be about Child Abuse so it's like. idk if you'll like any of the things i recommend.
THAT BEING SAID, here's a selection i guess!! because I'm flattered you would even ask haha. a lot of these are pretty well known already tho so idk how helpful this will be. anyway this got hella long so. under the cut!
songs explicitly about or including themes of child abuse/having shit parents/having familial issues:
Guiltless by Dodie
Black by Okkervil River (narrative about a guys girlfriend telling him about her dad sexually abusing her. one of, if not the first, song i ever heard about CSA and it holds a special place in my heart)
The Mute by Radical Face
Ripple Effect by Scott Helman (kinda more about generational trauma & healing if im honest. i dont listen to it as much as the others on this list)
Poplar St by Glass Animals
Daddy Issues by The Neighborhood
Twin Sized Mattress by The Front Bottoms (classic i know)
The Family Jewels by Marina and the diamonds
Family Line by Conan Gray
Christmas Kids by ROAR (ok technically not about the kids but i find the subtext of how the kids are used in this abusive relationship horrific. also, it reminds me of my parents)
Drift Away - Steven Universe (OK I KNOW ITS NOT TECHNICALLY ABOUT THAT BUT TO ME IT'S ABOUT MY MOM. IT TRACKS TOO EXACTLY TO NOT INCLUDE HERE)
Other Abuse songs:
labour by Paris Paloma
This Hurts by Mindless Self Indulgence (my ex wife says i listen to this song to go joker mode and i hate that because i know she means Straight Joker and not Camp Joker but i do really like the song)
I'm your puppet by Gregory And The Hawk
Eric by Mitski (REAL GOOD)
Believe Me by James and the Shame (more about spiritual abuse sort of)
Girl Anachronism by The Dresden Dolls
Thermodynamic Lawyer esq GFD by Will Wood and the Tapeworms
We'll Never Have Sex by Leith Ross (less about abuse and more about, like, a healing relationship. still i think you can easily read into the alluded past abuse or sexual issues going here)
Fuck About It by Waterparks
Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want by The Smiths (this is just such an abused person song)
This Hurts by Mindless Self Indulgence (my ex wife says i listen to this song to go joker mode and i hate that because i know she means Straight Joker and not Camp Joker but i do really like the song)
Sex With A Ghost by Teddy Hyde
I Cant Handle Change by ROAR (obviously)
rotting by vivivivivi
rook by sardonica
My favorite "Abuse Vibe" songs (NOTE: some of these songs might be about abuse or toxic relationships but um. im not very smart or good at sorting so. they ended up here):
Take a Slice by Glass Animals (PLEASE LISTEN TO THIS ONE FUCK THE REST OF THIS LIST EXCEPT ANIMALS I LOVE THOSE TWO)
Animals by Stomach Book (SEE ABOVE)
Youth by Daughter
Duck Or Ape by ROAR
Million Dollar Gold Digger (idk what it is about this remix im not even a huge fan of either of the songs its mixing. this is the VIBES part of the rec list i don't have to explain myself)
I'll Be Good by Jaymes Young
Gooey by Glass Animals
Breaking Down by Florence & The Machine
Moby Dick by Jakey
Aurora Borealis by Lemon Demon (hard to justify but this song just brings such vivid "abused kid failing to be normal while hanging out with someone and further isolating themself" vibe. yes im projecting. leave me alone)
The Dismemberment Song by Blue Kid (sometimes you just wanna kill your parents)
I'M GONNA WIN by Rob Cantor (this one just feels like anger and bitterness and being suspicious of anyone who tries to help you. I listen to it when im fucking going through it. its also a bop but you prolly already know that, i think it's pretty popular? idk)
It's Alright by Mother Mother (stereotypical i know)
South Dakota by Jakey (honestly i dunno. i dont even know where south dakota is)
My Blood by Twenty One Pilots (for all you sibling havers out there)
My Play by AJR (my parents arent divorced but man i wish they were. Also, this just brings up very vivid memories for me trying to show my parents things and it is fucking crushing haha)
Best Of You by Foo Fighters (idk just more shit that reminds me of my parents)
The Woods by San Fermin (this one is just very "I should have died as a child"-core to me)
JUVY ft. Julia Bard by Nnamdi Ogbonnaya (this guy is weird and i didnt like his stuff at first but then... i came back... and now he holds a place in my heart)
Grape Gil by Nnamdi Ogbonaya (i think this is my favorite song of his. I nearly made an owl house animatic to it)
Obsession by OK GO
Better Than Me by The Brobecks
ARE WE STILL FRIENDS by Tyler The Creator
Dumb Dumb by Mazie (honestly this one just reminds me of thinking "i hate it here everyone is so dumb" and then maladaptive daydreaming for hours to escape the situation hah)
Stone Wall, Stone Fence by Gregory And The Hawk
Never Wanna Fall in Love With U by Nelward
Another New World by Punch Brothers (this one is such an explicit and straightforward narrative i really can't explain it other than like. the emotions.)
Julep by Punch Brothers (once again, the emotions)
Always Sayin' by The Littles Man Band
A NIGHT OUT ON EARTH by Waterparks
Consequences by Lovejoy
Scum by Lovejoy
SMELLS LIKE TEEN SECRETS by lil boodang (another hard to justify one. idk. it just feels like it ok. sue me)
anyway i'm sure there's more but thats just a quick selection from my Abuse playlist. and by quick i mean you better appreciate this cuz i put way more effort into this than i needed to.

thanks for tagging me @streetofvampires, @kestrelteens and @annieshowell! <3
Last song: im currently listening to the extended version of Love Like You from Steven Universe, the last one before that was another beautiful SU song Being Human (i love it so muchhhh its so calming). also have Taylor Swift's Hits Different as a soundtrack in the back of my head lol
Last show: the last one fully watched? hmmm i think SU as well, its my favorite show everrr and it was the first time i gave it a full rewatch (aside from Future but we're getting there) <3 the last episode of something that i watched was episode 2 of Drag Race All Stars 8 just a couple hours ago
Currently watching: Grace and Frankie, i think this show is absolutely incredible <3 also Drag Race is always there
Currently reading: right now just the webcomics im subscribed to whenever they update
Current obsession: as you can tell i was just fixated on SU before this, these days im extremely into learning how to create cc for ts2 :) i also have a constant interest for Taylor Swift and currently im in a deeper phase so i watch a lot of youtube videos about her, and i also had a quick eurovision phase thats a little less prominent now :D (but i still sing my favorite songs all the time like a radio)
if you wanna do this please go ahead!! love seeing these things from other people <3

You said you have a record collection 👀
hi! You sent this so long ago I'm so sorry it's taken so long but yes I do! It's on the small side depending on who you'd talk to but it's something I enjoy very much.
Tumblr media
This is she.
A total of 85, one not pictured is the Suzume sountrack because im listening to it atm. I think the ones I forked out the most money for/the coolest ones (cost not taken into account for some as coolness is subjective) are:
Mitski's Retired from Sad, New Career in Business (an unofficial pressing, if an official one ever goes out I will be getting it/I paided 35 for it on bandcamp as a "this grey area scares me a little" response.)
Mitski's Lush (also unofficial. Also paid 35 for it on bandcamp. Also plan to purchase any official pressing if it ever happens. Please let it happen.)
The Hobbit by Rankin Bass, full movie audio on two disks with the booklet.
Return of the King by Rankin Bass, cut down movie audio but still fun
An original pressing of Hesitant Alien by Gerard Way, which was still sealed and had the zine (Texas man did NOT know what he had)
Aerie by John Denver with the poster
Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboys by Elton John, with both poster and booklet, I'm pretty sure it's also an original pressing.
Snarkism by Tribe 8, with lyrics sheet
An original pressing of Gun Fighter Ballads and Trail Songs by Marty Robbins that my grandpa had
Full box set of Macbeth from The Shakespeare Recording Society
The Last Unicorn soundtrack by Jimmy Webb from Germany
The Hi-Fi Rush soundtrack by Shuichi Kobori, Reo Uratani, and Masatoshi Yanagi
One of the first pressings of iam8bit's Steven Universe sets (paid FAR less than I thought I would be since I bought it second hand)
The salmon pink color pressing of The Tale Of Princess Kaguya by Joe Hisaishi, it is probably my favorite of his scores, just above How Do You Live
And most recently the anniversary pressing of Seven Swans by Sufjan Stevens. It is so pretty and is my favorite of their albums.
They are all albums I enjoy, I tend not to buy unless I enjoy the album through and through, over half have been bought second hand, the old ones smell old, ive cleaned mold off one of them. I have a TON of John Denver. I don't get them because I think vinyl sounds better I just generally think it's a cool way of listening to music that we've invented. While I have more vocal albums, I do really like having soundtracks or other instrumental soundtracks because its nice to have one on while im writing.
Goal is to keep them in good health but im not going to stress over keeping them in mint condition.
if for whatever reason your wanting to see the whole collection, ill drop some screenshots of my Discogs collection below :) The picture is pretty blurry in the details.
My greatest achievement is getting that AT player for 30 bucks from a random guy. It was brand new.
Currently I'm waiting very impatiently for my pre-orders of the Bee and Puppycat and Nimona soundtracks from iam8bit to ship.

38 34 24?
38: a soap bar that smells good?
Uhm. Im not actually sure. Ive never really taken the smell of bar soap into consideration i just use whatever soap my family buys. Im personally more worried about texture sometimes we get a smooth one and sometimes we get an oatmeal one with chunks in it, i like the one with bits in it more.
34: is there a song you know every word to by heart?
Im not sure if this question means songs i know all the words to or songs i know all the words to off the top of my head, but ill treat it like the second. The answer would be yeah heaps, i wouldnt even be able to name all of them. A majority of the Steven Universe soundtrack, all of them if you had playing id be able to do and probably about 2/3 i could do just off the top of my head, particularly Love Like You thats my Go To song to sing off the top of my head, always has been. not sure why this one came up but Hey There Delilah by Plain White Tee‘s, Over My Head(Cable Car) by The Fray, a handfull each of Imagine Dragons and Set It Off songs, and probably a bunch more too i cant think of right now.
24: if we were together on a rooftop, what would we be doing?
If we were on a roof together i think we would have a nice little picnic and just hang out. Maybe its night time and were sitting bear the edge looking out at all the lights munching on some food, maybe talking about whatever dumb thing either of us can think of, maybe sitting in silence listening to the noises around us, either way its nice.
