The venue hums with the kind of energy you’d expect for a band as big as Wings of Illyria, the low chatter and country rock playing in the background almost drowned out by the buzz around the meet-and-greet booth.

Cassian, the life of the party you always imagined him to be, is already surrounded by fans, effortlessly drawing people in with that easy grin of his. But security is quick to move in, ushering people away with practiced calm, the crowd reluctantly shifting to make room for the band’s massive presence.  Rhysand sits beside him, polished and smooth as ever, his gaze flicking between the crowd and the band’s merch, playing the role of the charming frontman like he was born for it. But Azriel—Azriel looks like he’d rather be anywhere else.

You spot him leaning back in his chair, a half-smirk barely visible beneath the dark fringe of his hair, eyes scanning the room with a look that says he’s mentally checked out. The cigarette tucked behind his ear, defying the “No Smoking” sign above the booth, is the least surprising thing about him.

You can’t help but notice how effortlessly Azriel leans into the atmosphere, the way his posture seems to say he’s both above it all and fully in control of the space around him. The black leather jacket slung over his chair, the way his fingers casually thrum against the table, it’s all effortlessly cool. But before you can linger on him too long, a voice cuts through the room, sharp and high-pitched enough to make your teeth ache. 

The girl in front of you is practically vibrating, her hands shaking as she clutches her phone to her chest like it’s a lifeline. “Oh my God, oh my God,” she whispers to her friend, barely able to hold it together. “What if I say something dumb? What if they laugh at me? What if Az doesn’t even look at me? I have to tell him how much I—”

It’s the way she says Az—not like she’s just a fan, but like she’s personally on a nickname basis with him—that makes your eye twitch. You don’t want to judge, but fuck, could people just enjoy things without this level of intensity? She’s decked out in enough Wings of Illyria merch to make you wonder if she owns anything that isn’t branded. Her denim jacket is practically a billboard for the band, from the patches to the pins to the shirts she’s stacked under it, all so bright and loud it’s almost cartoonish. She looks exactly like the kind of people you’ve seen mocked in those “fan stereotype” posts, and it grates on you more than it should.

You bite back a sigh, trying to ignore the discomfort gnawing at your nerves. It’s not her fault, right? People can like things however they want. But as you stand there, you can’t shake the tightness in your chest, the buzz of unease you’ve been carrying all day. You hadn’t gotten much sleep last night—too busy running through every possible scenario, obsessing over the idea that maybe, just maybe, you’d misinterpreted the song. What if it wasn’t about you at all? What if you’d been foolish to even think it was? You’d spent so much time convincing yourself this was the right thing to do, that you could handle whatever confrontation came with it. But now, with the weight of it all on your shoulders, doubts have started to creep in. 

To each their own, you remind yourself, trying to shake the jittery feeling in your stomach. 

The line inches forward, and you shuffle along with it, caught between your own nerves and the chaos around you. Every second stretches and the girl ahead of you is still whispering furiously to her friend about all the reasons this moment is life-changing for her. You try to tune it out, focusing instead on the distant hum of the music overhead, and the faint shuffle of feet, the air heavy with anticipation.

And then, it’s your turn. 

Cassian is the first to notice you, his smile broad and infectious, like he’s genuinely thrilled to meet every single person who steps up to the booth. “Hey!��� he greets warmly, his voice loud enough to carry over the din. “You excited for the show?”

“Yeah, definitely,” you reply, shifting your weight awkwardly from one foot to the other. “I’ve been looking forward to it for weeks.”

Cassian beams like you’ve just made his night. “That’s what I like to hear! First time seeing us live?”

You shake your head, a small smile tugging at your lips. “Second. Saw you guys in Orlando last year.”

“No shit?” he says, leaning forward slightly. “That was a great crowd. One of the best on that leg of the tour. You catch the whole set?”

“Most of it,” you admit. “I got stuck in traffic and missed the first couple of songs.”

Rhysand, who’s been quietly observing, chuckles at that. “Typical,” he says, his voice smooth and amused. “Traffic in that city is practically a right of passage.”

“Right?” you say, laughing despite yourself. “I swear I left two hours early and still barely made it in time for ‘Bloodlines.’”

Cassian gives you a mock sympathetic look. “Tragic. That’s one of my favorites to play live.”

“It’s a good one,” you say, your nerves easing just a little. You glance between the two of them, noting how Rhys’s sharp gaze is fixed on you like he can tell there’s another reason you’re here. 

“So,” Rhys says, tilting his head slightly. “What’s your favorite track?”

How the hell—

“I mean, the whole album is great,” you say, “but ‘Sear My Skin’ has been on repeat lately.”

It’s a calculated choice, and you don’t miss the quirk of Azriel’s brow in your peripheral. 

“Interesting pick,” Rhys says, his smirk widening. “That one’s been causing a bit of a stir lately.”

Cassian chuckles. “Yeah, Az really knocked it out of the park with that one.”

And there it is—the perfect segue. You glance past them, finally letting your gaze settle on Azriel, who’s been silent this whole time. 

He’s leaned back in his chair, arms crossed over his chest, his expression unreadable as his dark eyes meet yours. For a second, the noise of the room seems to fade, and you realize your heart is pounding in your chest, 

“Azriel,” you say, his name coming out steadier than you expected. “Can I ask you something?”

He quirks that brow again, the faintest hint of a smirk playing on his lips. “You just did.”

Cassian groans dramatically, dragging a hand down his face. “Come on, man. Don’t make it harder than it needs to be,” he mutters.

Azriel ignores him, his gaze still fixed on you. “What’s the question?”

You take a breath, forcing yourself to hold his stare. “The song—’Sear My Skin.’ Is it about me?”

Rhysand doesn’t bother hiding his laughter, leaning back in his chair like he’s settling in for a show. Cassian’s drink nearly slips out of his hand, and he mutters something under his breath that sounds suspiciously like, Oh, shit.

Azriel doesn’t react immediately. He just stares at you, his expression unreadable, until the silence stretches so thin you think it might snap. 

“Who are you?” he asks finally, his tone maddeningly calm. 

You blink, thrown off by the audacity of the question. “You seriously don’t remember me?”

He leans back, shrugging one shoulder. “I don’t remember half the women I sleep with.” Cassian chokes on his drink, Rhysand’s grin stretching wide enough to show teeth, but you’re not about to let Azriel off that easily. 

“Pressed against the door, your lips trace the ache?” You quote the line pointedly, crossing your arms as you glare at him. The memory rushes back—how he’d tasted on your tongue, how his hands had threaded through your hair before all hell broke loose. “Sound familiar?”

“It’s not that deep,” Azriel replies, his tone dismissive, though his gaze sharpens ever so slightly. 

“Really?” you counter, your tone dripping with incredulity. “Right before I finish, your body’s all I feel, breathed in your ear ‘you feel too good to be real.’” Your voice rises, your chest tightening as the words leave your mouth. “You literally said that to me while you were balls deep in me against a wall.”

Azriel freezes, his lips parting slightly as a faint flicker of surprise breaks through his carefully guarded expression. For a split second, it’s almost satisfying. 

Cassian’s reaction is anything but subtle. His chair scrapes loudly against the floor as he doubles over in laughter, nearly spilling his drink again. He gasps, pounding the table. “Yo, what the fuck?!”

Rhysand isn’t fairing much better, his laughter barely contained as he leans forward, resting his elbows on the table, his amusement still sharp but with a more controlled edge than Cassian’s, to his credit.

Azriel’s jaw tightens, and he finally breaks eye contact, glancing down at the table. “Okay,” he mutters, the word barely audible over the laughter. “Maybe it’s a little about you.”

Cassian claps a hand over his mouth, trying and failing to muffle another loud “Yo!” Rhysand smirks, watching the two of you closely. 

But you shake your head, not about to let him off with just that. “A little? Really? You practically narrated the whole thing—I deserve royalties.”

Azriel raises an eyebrow, clearly not expecting that response. “Royalties?” he repeats, half-laughing, but still avoiding eye contact.

Before he can properly respond, a security guard steps forward, tilting their head toward the door, a silent gesture that your time is up. 

You roll your eyes but shoot Azriel a teasing smile. “Guess I’m out of time for royalties. But I’ll be expecting them in the mail.”

As the security guard ushers you forward, Rhysand speaks up. “Well, nice to meet you, Sear My Skin,” he says, voice dripping with humor. 

You grin back at him, a little cheeky. “My name—”

“It’s (y/n),” Azriel interrupts, dragging a hand over his face as he speaks, his tone casual but something darker in his gaze that would’ve stopped you in your tracks if not for the man guiding you away.

You blink at him, and can’t help the smile blooming on your face. He remembered you. Really remembered you. 

Just as you’re about to take another step toward the exit, Cassian shouts from behind you, “Wait, wait, wait!” His voice is a mix of urgency and excitement. 

You turn around, confused, as Cassian's already talking to someone behind the merch table. The team member nods, already moving to grab something and hand it over to you. Cassian looks at you with that mischievous grin you’re so used to seeing on video. “We’ll set you up for the show. Don’t leave without saying hi to us again, yeah?”

You look at the woman heading your way and take the slip she hands you, your heart stopping when you read the words Backstage Pass. You’re not sure what’s happening, but the thrill of it courses through you. “Uh—Yeah, thank you?”

“Anytime, princess,” Cassian says with a wink, leaning back in his chair as he makes a show of lounging. 

You glance at Azriel one last time before being nudged along by the guard. He looks back at you for a moment, unreadable as ever, but there’s something in his eyes. But he says nothing, and it’s enough to make your chest tighten, a mix of anticipation and confusion bubbling in your stomach.

looking into it i think yingxing would have been fire hunt. he’s hunt for sure considering his main thing was hatred of abominations of abundance anyway but he was trained by huaiyan who is known as ‘the flaming heart’ on the zhuming. people and heliobi hang out together there. flint emperor is there. they use the flint emperor’s flame to forge weapons. the forge is called flamedisk forge. lots of fire stuff. so if he learned there he should be fire element. also makes sense with blade’s trailer showing that he is the single candle still lit despite the rest having gone out. would be cool if he had bluish/teal fire bc heliobi and whatnot.

i was gonna say something about how his skill could be him like heating up his sword as one would to forge it (but not THAT hot obviously) and now im thinking about how with blade’s skill he turns his sword from black to red? he is forging that thing. also crazy that that sword weighs like 4000lbs and he launched it through the air like a frisbee and dan heng got impaled with it and hardly even stumbled. how strong are these guys. full disclosure, i used to read fic in the Last/Double Life era, so it was all “wow Grian is so mean for leaving Scar lonely and cheating on him and Scar is so sad and helpless :(” in the fics i used to read Grian was often so serious and brooding and guilty and mean and like… so many fics i’d read had him as like. evil and cold to poor helpless Scar. which is not a great look! Scar is plenty competent and also his own brand of the worst. he’s not suffering away under Grian’s tyranny. they’re both annoying!

and like yeah sure Grian starts wars. but he does this on servers where deaths are not finite and hold very little weight. people die all the time on hermitcraft and a lot of minigames and silly bits are done about killing each other. it’s just not the same. and yeah, he likes blowing things up and causing problems. but as much as he never considers the consequences of his actions, he also very much will help deal with them to the best of his ability when they’re worse than he expected

there’s a quote from…. oh, i don’t even remember where, bc i heard it when i was binging his evo and seasons seven and eight. but in it Grian says something to the effect of you have to prank hard and clean up harder. which i think summarizes him really well, and which so many people miss w him

genuinely sometimes i feel like people almost forget Grian is like. fun. like he’s really fun! he’s silly and likes mischief and quotes stupid memes and will help fix things when they’re taken too far so that they stay fun. he makes games and challenges and starts competitions and wars because it’s fun to play in them! people forget this to the point where sometimes i’d read too many fics in a row and then watch a Grian ep and be like holy shit. i forgot how much fun he is

and yeah. he definitely is one of the driving antagonistic forces of Third Life. but the whole conflict is Scar picking fights and Grian attempting to finish them. generally enemies the desert made were Scar’s enemies from either threatening them (Dogwarts) or scamming them (Crastle) which Grian generally escalated on Scar’s behalf (albeit without Scar really asking him to escalate, and pushing them significantly farther than Scar intended to escalate them). they bounce off each other and rile each other up because they think it’s fun to cause problems and they’re right

anyway. this is so not focused on DDVAU it’s nearly 2am and i’m just rambling about Grian characterization in fandom in general like two years ago when i used to read scarian fic. ummm. Grian is evil but i think people make him out as more malicious/callous than he actually is sometimes? i don’t think we’ve really seen proof DDVAU Grian is like. a bad person. at least not yet

CG has mostly just antagonized HG and refused to speak to cops (which is the correct thing to do always). while Grian has mostly just bantered with and teased his friends and cousin. hes closed off from Jimmy and not talking to him as much as he should, but being blunt doesn’t make him a bad person

we’ll just have to see how he’s handled. i know he won’t be flawless, bc that’s not how maruu and doody roll, but i don’t think im currently worried about him hitting the same level as HG right now (or at least not showing his flaws in the same way HG has). HG’s manipulativeness comes from his ability and willingness to leverage a systemic power over Grian that Grian simply does not have, and thus which Grian simply cannot do

i do expect them to make each other worse tho somehow. that’s a given

Hi! Okay I have Things To Say, so I'm going to respond to this piece by piece.

Hi, how are you doing? I have an advice question. I'm in my twenties, I have a connective tissue disorder, and my energy is limited because of it. I can still walk and do things, but I don't have enough energy to work, can't do full day trips and basically pay a price for doing fun activities. A wheelchair has been recommended to me by my OT and other health care providers.

So let's point out a few things here. This is a SHIT thing to deal with that I don't understand at all from a first person perspective. I'm giving advice only from what I know. Just so you know. But I want to point out...the PROFESSIONALS have recommended a wheelchair for you. I can imagine that's a hard thing to come to terms with - accepting that change in lifestyle and self-image, the accompanying struggles, etc. But the professionals have recommended it.

I'm dealing with internalised ableism,

Fair. So fair. But remember that being in a chair doesn't change who you are, and odds are if professionals are recommending it, it might actually HELP your quality of life, rather than harm it.

but also mixed responses from friends/family. Some people are supportive and want me to have more freedom, others have had ableist remarks (such as saying I'm not doing 'that bad' yet and a saying they wouldn't recommend me to use a wheelchair because they're convinced it will cause my health to deteriorate and I might end up becoming bedbound because of it).

This bit infuriated me. Who the fuck to these people think they are? Are they doctors? Do they know what it might be like for you? Probably not. Like...what studies have they read that show that people who use wheelchairs end up bedbound? I'd like to see.

I'm struggling with this and I'm wondering if you have any words of advice. Thank you for your time! I really appreciate you answering all these advice asks people send you.

I can't imagine the emotional feelings and the changes to your life associated with this decision, honestly. It's got to be a lot, and I don't want you to think I'm ignoring that. But I think if you have the ability to get a wheelchair (financial ability, accessible living space, etc) then you should. The professionals recommend it, and even though doctors can be assholes, they tend to be right. Also, it sounds like you would be able to be an ambulatory wheelchair user (I think that's the right phrase?) so if you don't like it, you're not superglued to it, you know? In the end, nobody has to live in your body but YOU, and if this improves your life, then you absolutely should do it.

It totally makes sense that it would follow more of your own plot rather than the game specific ones!! I was just curious after the Rin and Grian connection, and having a preference for the unlimited blade works storyline in comparison to HL and fate. Now I’ve even more excited to see what else you have cooked up for them!!!!

It’s really interesting how Archer shows how Scar loses himself. The Archer and Grian things you’ve drawn are so fun with the way that Archer gets more annoyed with Grian and I’m so pumped to see more of that relationship (the snipe that guy sketch lives in my head rent free). As someone who cared a lot more about Rin and Archer than Shirou and Saber, I will admit I am heavily biased towards them, but god do I love Scar and Rider so much.

I love how you’ve set up the servants too to all be game winners and only remember the previous seasons, not the future ones. I love how it impacts Saber and Pearl’s relationship because he only remembers his ally!!! The angst potential with Rider finding out that Archer is future Scar terrifies me deeply. On that note, holy shit am I excited to see if Berseker and Saber interact (poor Pearl).

it was sooooooo long ago like way before i started using tumblr but the first little comic thing i did was grian finding out scar n archer were the same person, but it was soo rough i don’t know if it’s still up (i deleted some of my early fate stuff bc a lots been changed). so rider definitely knows archer’s scar hehe, he just doesn’t understand why. it’s so hard to put rider’s state of mind into words, but at the end of the day he doesn’t like interacting w archer out of guilt from the events in the hgw :P

I just wrote a oneshot for them bc im so obsessed w todokami, they are CRIMINALLY underrated

- Denki is always cold, like touch his hand and you get frostbite. So weird bc bro HATES the cold, he gets all whiny abt it. Shoto likes to warm him up tho when they cuddle. Sho’s such a gentleman!

- Shoto can’t read the room properly (thinks it’s a literal term and scans a room for things to read 😭😭) but Denki is all up in people’s business and tells him whats going on

- speaking of all up in people’s business, Denki and Shoto gossip ALL THE TIME!! They don’t judge, they just gossip.

- “TODOROKI!! I HEARD BAKUGO BROKE HIS ANKLE CHASING MIDORIYA AROUND THE SCHOOL!” “Of course he did…” or smth like that idk

- Shoto is so attentive and caring, listens to EVERYTHING Denki has to say and makes a mental note so he can do that one thing Den really wants. Endeavor’s credit card is just so easy to swipe.

- Denki SUCKS at cooking, like horrible, but he’s somehow an AMAZINGGGGGGG baker?? No one knows how. Bro makes better cookies than Sato and only lets Shoto taste them bc he’s unbiased unlike 99% of the class (we hate sato now btw)

- Shoto, initially, sucks at cooking, but after Fuyumi and Rei help him, he’s actually really good at it. Natural chef! Denki is a bit of a picky eater, but eats whatever Shoto made bc Shoto knows what Denki likes <3

- Bakugo hates when they’re in the same room together bc they make it so awkward with their pining. Has tried multiple times to play matchmaker by locking them in a room, but for some reason Denki can pick locks like a boss and they get out within seconds

- Mina LOVES them together. She’s like Bakugo, but tries harder to actually make them confess bc she wants to see them be all couple-y (half to annoy tf out of bakugo)

- Denki is TERRIFIED of spiders, screams like a horror movie character and skedaddles cartoonishly. Shoto, on the other hand, just kills them without hesitation. He’s not scared of anything but sudden sounds.

- They study together! Comes from Den’s below average test scores and lacking in the Quirk control department. He asked Shoto for help and thats how they became good friends! (based on my oneshot hehehe)

- Denki has freakishly good memory. He’ll remember something Shoto said MONTHS ago and quote it to him to be silly. Shoto’s confused and is like “I said that??”

- “Bakugo is lucky Kirishima can tolerate him, I couldn’t without my eardrums bursting, Shoto Todoroki, May 20th, 5:24PM.” “How do you remember that…?”

- Denki is also a very good gift giver because of that! Shoto’s love language is gift giving, but Denki’s is words of affirmation, which is funny bc both of them do the opposite to each other.

- Shoto is such a romantic, says the most gooey lovey dovey stuff ever to Denki. Denki gets embarrassed over it bc he isn’t used to positive comments on himself, so Shoto mostly does it in private.

- when they do start dating they’re so good about boundaries. Shoto knows what to not do to Denki, and Denki knows what to not do to Shoto!

- their arguments are VERY rare, like once in a blue moon. If they do fight, it’s about big things like hero work and family stuff.

- they hate arguing bc they hate seeing the other look so upset, esp Shoto, seeing people like that makes him remember his mom so he tries to avoid it as best as possible 😖😖

- speaking of moms! Rei is so so so happy that Shoto found someone like Denki. Like she’s SO happy, crying and hugging Denki. She’s emotional, let her be </3

- Denki never told his parents, scared of what they’d say, but he did tell his nonexistent older sister who he sees as a mom! She’s his biggest supporter and does her best to keep it a secret until Denks is ready

- Endeavor is hesitant about this, he literally reads stuff online to learn more about what Shoto’s sexuality and relationship is like just so he doesn’t hurt him any further. Shoto was very apprehensive abt telling him, but when Endeavor took it well, Shoto was SO fucking relieved, he was terrified about what would happen 😵‍💫

- after UA Denki and Shoto live together with a cat named Appa after atla! Mostly bc he’s Aang’s companion and the two of them make one Avatar (technically) because of their elemental Quirks!

- They partner up a lot for hero work, a dynamic duo if you will. Denki has gotten a lot better with his Quirk and controlling it, but is mindful of his surroundings thanks to Shoto’s guiding.

Funnily enough I used to be SO obsessed w Denki and my friend was obsessed w Shoto to where I shipped Momojirou bc they were “in the way” of our crushes but over time I genuinely loved momojirou sm theyre so fuyendjdjd AND NOW I SHIP TODOKAMI so it all turned out okay!!

i love the idea of how the spiritual can be taken to such a beautiful point and i've read a couple of things regarding it (maybe once or twice) but i think sometimes they tend to write in such a generic way that they can't see other ways to write something racy without it being what sells the most. for example foreplay, what sex is, it's all based on the idea of the human being, but you have to remember they are NA'VIS, you can explore and experiment so much !!!!

Also Vincent is shown to be strong and he kills more than Bo does in the movie, he could stand up for himself but he doesn’t, because Bo isn’t abusing him, not to mention him holding Bo’s dead beaten body and cry yelling to the best of his ability, they clearly care about each other.

I feel like people see that one scene and the opening and assume Bo is angry and abusive all the time (also people can write him however they want but I feel like I see a lot of people boiling his character down to just being angry and violent and mean) and he had behavior problems as a kid but just because he did and is mean in one scene doesn’t mean that’s just how he is, people change as they get older, I had anger issues as a kid (I now realize it was probably related to my ADHD I didn’t know I had back then) I acted out when I got mad, I was violent sometimes, now as an adult I don’t act out anymore, I don’t even get as angry, there’s no reason Bo couldn’t have changed or learned to cope as he got older, even with all the shitty toxic shit as a kid, once he was older he could have worked on it himself, we don’t know but like people just assume oh he was an angry kid with behavioral issues and he yelled at Vince as an adult and don’t take in any other context from the scene and decide he’s angry and has anger issues and that’s his entire character.

Also I agree he wouldn’t treat a wife like that, man was not given love as a kid he wouldn’t risk the person who actually loves him, plus we see he clearly cares about Vince, when he tells him ‘Ma would be proud’ he’d be the same way if he fell in love with someone I think, he’d try his best to make up when he did fuck up, he’d show he cares

Is Bo a bad person, yes he very much is, he does horrible things including heavily implied SA, and he has no problem murdering people, but he’s not rotten to the core with no redeeming anything who’s only bad with no good

No one take this as you’re wrong or bad for your interpretation of Bo, if someone wants to write him like that go ahead, you do you, it’s your writing and you should do what you want, I just wish more people looked deeper into Bo’s character and thought more critically instead of just accepting Carly, a victim who only sees a small window of the Sinclair’s life and behavior, as the truth

so to answer your question, yes and no. he didn’t force anything on me but he helped bring me into that direction just by association. i’m so grateful he did though because man, my life just mentally, physically, financially everything has been so much better since i’ve let God into my life
