alarmingly long hanahaki au jaya. i hurt jay quite a bit in this. this is a product of 4 straight days of insanity. im SO ILL. ABOUT JAYA. IF YOU MAKE IT TO THE END OF THIS. I COMMEND YOU. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME IN ADVANCE.

once again adapted from a twitter thread. its. like 165 tweets long. yeah. yeah. im lazy so its gonna be mostly copy pasted and lightly edited so if it sounds like im talking to myself I WAS. AND I WAS DOING IT FOR FOUR DAYS. 

anyways heres the start.

so hanahaki.... jaya.... season 3...... jay is absolutely the guy who gets hanahaki theres absolutely no doubt about that like absolutely none. but the world building tho... how should i handle it.... i want it to be canon compliantish. and more importantly. when should i give him symptoms. what would be most interesting

sure. i could give him hanahaki after he find out about nyas perfect match. but haha

what if he get petals earlier tho.

he doesnt understand why at first, why jay starts coughing up petals, he and nya are dating and in love. there shouldnt be any reason for it. its not bad yet so he just ignores it really hard or thinks he mustve gotten a weird strain because theres now way he has normal hanahaki because theres No Way! haha

so when he hears the truth there in his parents trailer, the roots around his lungs constrict and he cant tell the pain apart from his heart breaking in two. his chest hurts so much and he sees cole and just goes ballistic

just imagine. what thats like for him. hes mad but its a secondary response to the heartbreak. hes had signs literally inside all along but to actually find out? like this? jay cant take it

haha. the double date would suck so much HAHA. he holds it in through the whole duration of the movie but when its over he vomits full flowers in the bathroom

ive been mulling over the worldbuilding of hanahaki in this au of mine. i thinking i want it to be a departure from the standard hanahaki worldbuilding thats in fics. just slightly. mostly regarding the fatality and maybe treatments........ i think i want jay to have hanahaki the whole time until skybound. and so i think im gonna have to make hanahaki nonlethal. but kinda like chronic pain. if you cant let go of that love

im partially adopting another fics worldbuilding but i like the idea you can recover on your own if you simply fall out of love. its easier and less damaging the earlier you give up on the love. the roots atrophy and fade and theres not that much scarring. you can easily recover

but you know...... its jay. hes not gonna let it go. he cant. he loves nya.... i think he hides his affliction tho... because he knows nya doesnt want to get back together. and he doesnt want to look you know.... pathetic? desperate? overly clingy?

“you still hasnt gotten over nya?” “dude come on.” “give it up.” he doesnt want to hear it from the others. because he doesnt want to. 

but also he wants to save face in front of nya. hes scared itll drive her even further away. his heart cant take more of that. this distance hurts enough

so for months.............. he suffers the pain of one sided love. quietly. pretending that nothing is wrong and that jay is okay with them just being friends. of course jay could choose to surgically remove the hanahaki.... but he doesnt want to do that

i think im gonna keep a bit of the amnesia worldbuilding standard fics have. but im not gonna have it so that artificially removing the hanahaki makes you forget the person you love. no.... just the love that you felt. i think jay doesnt want to lose his love for nya..... also not being able to fall in love with nya scares him. hes just that fucking attached to her. he has it bad man. dude has attachment issues. hes so clingy. 

anyways. jay chooses to suffer. because hes that badly in love

jay self medicates on over the counter cough suppressants thats meant for the cold and more normal sickness. works surprisingly well. not ideal tho. he also fills his pockets with cough drops and sometimes makes himself sick when he accidentally eats too much on bad days

he gets sick of them. the sweet icky taste and menthol nausea but he doesnt have that many better ways to deal. its just a temporary fix too. considering that coughing is his body's natural way to get rid of the petals. and hes just letting them sit in his lungs

periodically he has to stay hunched over a trashcan to clear out the petals and yes its an awful experience every time. it becomes routine. the petals scratch his throat on the way out and he gets into tea to soothe the irritation. he becomes a regular at mistake's

in general, his ability to breathe starts to decline and he gets winded so much more easily. the plants in his chest limit his airflow and also steals the oxygen from his lungs. his chest is tight always and aches like theres thick needles lodged in his chest. those are the roots

usually its manageable. but it becomes harder to fight. battles usually end up leaving him wheezing. one of the guys teases him about it. that hes slacking and getting out of shape. he sidesteps that convo tho and brushes them off. he certainly cant be honest

im a sadist so im gonna making him pass out after one fairly vigorous battle. one which he has to push himself harder to make it out alive. so hard that his lungs cant keep up with the rest of his body and even when he gets himself to a safe corner or clearing, no amount of breaths is enough and he just blacks out. he eventually comes to a worried face shaking him awake. ill figure out who and when this is set later. either way they just assume jay got knocked out even though they cant find any wounds. theyre relieved he seems fine

but that was very bad. super duper bad for jay tho. he cant let that happen again. but these kinds of things are out of his control tho. but he just has to deal.

things comes to a head in skybound. i think itll be most dramatic if nya finds out in the lighthouse. after she rescues them and they successfully flee. when they settle and in moment jay cant hide he coughs out a gross mass of petals

and nya has a slow step by step realization of the implications. but before all that happens tho. nadakhan. i dont think he knew jay had hanahaki when he first targeted him. maybe. this point might change

but as it is, for the thought i have, nadakhan learns when jays meds wears off, and hes not even able to pop in a cough drop his mouth. and he vomits a messy slurry of petals onto the wooden floorboards of the deck. its EXTREMELY FUNNY to nadakhan, he mocks jay for it! he has hanahaki! that is so tragic! to think jay has known his love was utterly unrequited and yet he tried so hard to win her back. but it was all a hopeless, desperate, pathetic endeavor. so nya truly doesnt love jay, hm? so shes single and free for the taking. no hard feelings, then, when they marry

up on the ship, he coughs up so many flowers. he doesnt get enough sleep from the persistent coughing. and passes out multiple times, for a collection of reasons. from being knocked out, exhaustion, apnea, running out of breath after several matches of scrap n tap

i think it would be really sad and pathetic if there one incident where he chokes on a flower. and he cant cough it out and he thinks gonna die for reals. a pirate helps him out only to add insult to injury (and to torment him more to pull a wish out of him, hes better off alive than dead)

when hes rescued by his friends, theres no flowers around so none of his friends suspect. jay manages to keep the petals in his mouth, catching them behind his teeth, and swallows them back in. he coughs pretty bad but they all think he just got really sick. he looks awful after all

but thats of course only up until the lighthouse. ive been contemplating about how nya handles it all...... how she feels......... what is the most satisfying route here is much more trickier to figure out than just a fixit skybound au....... 

feelings are trickier and much more loaded........ the revelation certainly isnt going to be an easy thing for nya to swallow..... but lighthouse talk has so much potential....... jay might be honest for once..... because he has to be.... forced to be!

ngl lighthouse part of skybound has been super elevated in my head by favorite skybound fic so my perceptions of it and my own take on it for this au is probably going to be influenced by that. not in the sense im copying scenes but in the sense of like. oh yeah writer IS right, lighthouse ep TOTALLY has the massive potential for big feels and honesty. and revealing trauma/hurt feels. anyways. let me talk a bit about nya and the little dilemma i have.....

so like...... nyas part in the story is so tricky to handle.... because she entirely determines the ending of this story. much more so than in the original canon.....

because the crux of this story is the love between nya and jay... the lack of thereof from nya and the undying love from jay. hanahaki. unrequited love. the story is not just about jay making mistakes and being flawed as a person and being tested as a person and learning and growing his mistakes

in this au, the focus is specifically on his love for nya and how hes willing to hang onto it for so long despite how much it literally hurts him. love hurts. its barely even worth it. but to jay it is. this story is driven by his love. however how it ends all depends on nya.....

and heres the thing.... i know the way the "romance" in skybound was resolved was..... whats the word..... forced? it was insufficiently developed.... i cant recall the exact word i wanna use but it was just. tacked on. nyas change of heart kinda came out of nowhere....

nyas line in the lighthouse before she pushed jay through the portal is honestly inconsistent with her characterization that season up to the point. shes really didnt seem like she loved jay back at all. its entirely because the writers didnt write in those feelings

it takes a bit of creative thinking and interpretation to make jays and nyas get together at the end of the season work. you have to fill in the gaps of the romance yourself if you want it and want it to make sense and have it be satisfying

what i do for my fix it interpretation of canon is that nya didnt actually stop loving jay entirely in s3 breakup arc. instead i choose to think is that nyas desire for independence simply grew stronger enough to eclipse her love for jay

also i like to think nya liked jay more casually than he loves her so it was easier to break off their relationship. if youve seen my dream divorce ot3 slowburn get together break up get together fic (concept) (that only exactly two people know what im talking about). and also string of fate au. ESPECIALLY IN STRING OF FATE AU. then you know. my take on them. ANYWAYS.

the problem i have for this au is that i cant do that. i cant use that same interpretation to have them get together again. it doesnt work. because in this au.........nya really did fall out of love for jay. and having them get together again just like canon isnt.......satisfying

its tricky..... because to make nya fall in love with jay now after she learns he has hanahaki..... if im not careful ill be doing the same thing that the writers are doing. writing a careless romance solely because i want them to be together

and i DO want them to be together again.... but it requires a considerate approach if i really do want it. here..... the situation is this..... nya finds out jays has truly been in love with her for months STILL. and its bad enough he got hanahaki. i think she might feel uncomfortable about that. its unwanted love you know? being the object of someones desires still after you long broke up with them. she has moved on but jay hasnt? its super awkward for her...... but also...............

jay knows that. nya isnt stupid. she realizes that jay knows that and thats exactly why he kept it from her in the first place....... shes also uncomfortable because... jay is suffering because of her. she broke it off with him but its not like she doesnt care about jay 

no she still does. jay is still someone important to her. hes not just some ex. hes still a friend.... and her heart aches seeing jay suffer. her heart twists realizing that jay has been suffering this whole time on his own and she had no idea.

and it was out of consideration for her. its not entirely her fault jay has hanahaki..... but also she does feel a little bit responsible. sure jay messed up a lot recently and all of it is because he wanted to get back together with her and she doesnt like that.... but also..

learning about it put some things into perspective for her. like shes uncomfortable but jay has been hurt and is genuinely hurting still and she doesnt want to hurt him more and she wants to be gentle. so she starts thinking first. before she proceeds to deal with feelings

and so she starts really thinking about it. she was mad. she was mad jay kept so many secrets from them and endangered them all. and that he was STILL attached to her after all this time. shes still a little mad about that but also its subsiding a bit now....

if she really thinks about it.... jay had been respecting their break and her boundaries up until recently. in fact she only found out now, months later. jay actually did do a pretty good job of hiding those feelings. and not only that... his hanahaki.

that. she doesnt fucking understand how jay kept that a secret. ITS HANAHAKI. HOW DID HE HIDE IT FROM EVERYONE. ITS THE MOST VISIBLE DISEASE. maybe she did notice jay smothering a cough or clearing his throat every so often but to think it was hanahaki this entire time......

....when did it start even...? she can only assume that it was around their breakup. they eventually have a talk. a really important one that jay cant run away from. it takes a bit for jay to be fully honest and tell her that he started spitting petals when they were still together

she becomes mortified by that fact. and what that means. and she gains a bit of perspective of how the perfect match debacle looked from jays perspective. she really was.... a terrible girlfriend during all that huh.... to nya it felt like a clean break..... but to jay.... it left him pretty raw. 

it didnt hit nya until know how much jay was hurt by the breakup even without considering the hanahaki. jay still loves her despite her cheating on him and making him fight over her because she couldnt decide? it seems that jay doesnt even care about that. doesnt even think she was a terrible girlfriend at the end of their relationship when she very much was. something is deeply wrong with jay (he loves her too much). jay hadnt been the best...... he had been really selfish and self centered. esp with the whole wish thing

but she comes to a realization that she was being really self centered too. its unfair for her to criticize jay for that when the very beginning of it all was because of nyas own selfishness. its unfair for jay to break up over something so stupid like a match making machine

of course part of it was still on jay. he should have still let go. you cant have a relationship in which only one person is in love. but.... she couldve gone about it in a better way. a way that wouldnt have hurt jay so much at the very least

he has apologized for everything involving nadakhan and keeping secrets.... maybe taking on more blame than he should.... nya owes jay an apology too. so at the very least she gives him a proper one. for her own faults

but she doesnt know how to fix jays hanahaki tho...... and to be honest? neither does jay. he tells her this. despite everything he didnt want to force her to love him. he didnt want to guilt her back into a relationship. he didnt want her to give him her pity also

thats part of the reason why he kept it a secret. he wanted to *win* her back. make himself more appealing so that nya would love him again. jay was super misguided in his approach and didnt understand why exactly nya broke up with him in the first place

but thats what he wanted... nyas genuine love. (im ignoring a tiny chip of canon for this. or im considering it a moment of weakness (jays dismay when he learns he cant wish for love). creative interpretation is that seeing his future in the mirror made him too hopeful and a bit desperate) anyways. jay is a hopeless romantic. who is extremely lovelorn. also hes chronically ill like literally. cut him a little slack

anyways anyways. i dont want nya to just get back together with him right after finding out about his hanahaki. its bad romance. it wont taste good. it wont be genuine......... 

as it is...... of course theres multiple options................ but they arent all happy. and i do feel like. a story like this does need a happy ending..... it would be too sad if it remains unresolved. im just gonna talk about the ends that kinda suck first

most unsatisfying but technically still very plausible end: a standstill. nya cant do anything to help. she wants to but she cant return jays love. jay understands but decides keep living with the hanahaki. the two of them keep living in this awkward status quo, knowing.

eventually jays hanahaki gets too much for him to handle and he either dies or nya/the others take matters into their own hands and without his consent, send him to surgery bc hes dying. unethical maybe but they want him to live

its super awkward after that.... but things return to normal and they all forget about it except for nya, where it lays heavy in her mind forever. if he dies its just tragedy. i dont want this kinda of end

a potential good neutral end however can be one in which jay tries his best to simply move on. try to process his one sided love into something... different somehow. because he accepts that nya has fallen out of love with him. he has long accepted that.

but they talk........... and a lot happens (being pushed into the portal, the rest of skybound). and jay has a realization too. nya may not love him in the same way.... it doesnt mean she doesnt love him. she still cares deeply.....

she cares about him a lot as a friend. that love is still worth something. its..... its more than what jay thought nya felt about him. it honestly felt like their relationship get demoted all the way down back to acquaintances, at best coworkers. not technically. they were still friends. but jay felt a yawning distance between them after the break up. its one part nya distancing herself from jay after that whole disaster. its also another part jay keeping his distance so that nya doesnt learn about his hanahaki

whatever talk between them was either just ninja business, surface level casual conversations, or small talk. it was awkward but only when they dwelled on it... (and jay did dwell on it) but in the lighthouse they actually talk Talked about things... about them. and jay learns

nya sacrifices herself to save jay in the lighthouse and he realizes that he still matters to her. the everpresent tightness in his chest doesnt leave but it.... loosens. and he breathes easier for the first time in a while

he still wishes that nya and him could get together romantically. but something about his feelings changes. he feels less lovelorn somehow. his heart still yearns a little. but somehow he feels more okay. he hurts less

and once time turns back and jay and nya share this secret and finally properly reconcile after everything is done. the pain in his chest abates more and more as time goes on. hes not sure if hes exactly cured. but he can live without hurting now somehow

he learns how to live with his unrequited love. and more importantly he doesnt need his love to be requited anymore. because love is love you know? she doesnt love him romantically but she does still love him. and thats still good

they were always a little mismatched in their feelings for each other anyways. jay isnt settling for lesser. nyas love for him now is just different not less. and jay accepts that. and hes content that they managed to fix them. their relationship. hes okay and happy

his own feelings... he doesnt know if they changed themselves also like nyas has. he doesnt feel like his love has changed. but the nature of it mightve become more ambiguous. and it doesnt matter anyways. he loves nya and that will never change

hmmmm i think this became less of a neutral end and more just an unrequited good end. and accidentally poured so much aro juice into it oh my god? i had a good requited end thought up kinda also before this end i just talked about the end first bc i wanted to talk about requited end last

i kinda came to really like good unrequited end........ im still gonna talk about good requited end tho. i kinda want opinions about which end is narratively the best..... even though i only have a confident audience of two

i think requited end is a bit more dramatic..... nya really doesnt know what to do. she broke it off with jay. she wants to fix him. she really wishes he didnt get hanahaki for *her* of all people....

whats so great about her anyways that he would live like this for months on end be just ok with it. she thinks if she was in jays shoes she would long moved on. she doesnt get what is worth the pain and risk

either way she doesnt want to date him out of pity. she distinctly has a feeling that wouldnt actually fix anything. and probably jay doesnt want that too. but also she cant fabricate love

she feels suffocated by just the prospect and it reminds nya about why she dumped jay in the first place. this whole thing reminds nya why she dumped him. jays love was always too much for her. smothering. of course he gets hanahaki. why is she even surprised. if anyone would, its jay. she doesnt want to resent him for it though. hes hurting because of it. and he spared it from nya up to this point and she only found out because jay couldnt help it. who knows how much longer he wouldve kept this secret

but as is. she doesnt know what to do. so they stay in the lighthouse awkwardly together. they were honest with each other but now what? .....actually. curing hanahaki can come later. they gotta focus on saving their friends and all of ninjago first before they can deal with them

HHMMMMMMMM....... i think despite knowing about how much jay love her.... she doesnt really... Get It. HOW he loves her i mean. quantity vs quality. when they were first dating, to her it was really casual. in my mind jay was first attracted to nya shallowly too

but then he fell deeper. more genuinely. and that contributed to a greater discrepancy between their level of affection. nya for the most part has been believing that jays obsession with her is because hes just too clingy and attached. and like he is. but.... its like the product of the intensity of the emotion you know? his love for her manifested in jay in a way that put nya off a little. contributed to the reason why nya dumped him all those months ago.... having a heart to heart gave her some perspective on what it has been like for jay but

thats different from Understanding you know? comprehending... seeing the depth... anyways... so jay had been acting too chivalrous up to that point right? and then nya learns about jays hanahaki and chalks up his behavior to him overcompensating...... a symptom even

nya thinks its just jay trying his best to win her back. she doesnt really have that many reasons to think otherwise. its whats consistent. this all happened because jay wanted them to get together again. whatever, she has decided that shes going to forgive jay for all that, needless acts of chivalry included. even tho. she really doesnt like that. calls it a force of habit and puts it aside. for more Important Things like taking care of jay and taking nadakhan Down

but then they get found and theyre scrambling fast to prepare for the attack and counterattack. they manage to fall into a frantic but familiar routine of collaborative repairs and fixes and asides from jays incessant coughing reminding nya that things are pretty awful.... its nice

she doesnt get to feel that way for long tho. their haven is raided and their prep wasnt enough, theyre struggling, theres way too many pirates and its just the two of them against what feels like an army and theyre on the way to losing and nadakhan is nowhere to be found

they try to stick together to have each others backs but they get separated anyways and they start doing even worse. im changing up the action scene btw. nya manages sweep a bunch of pirates away but doubloon is one of the ones that could actually put up a fight

meanwhile jay isnt fairing very well and maybe worse because he was already injured and also his hanahaki makes it really hard. he fights for his breath trying to hold his own. he gets fucking smashed by dogshank through the floor onto the stairwell below. all the air is knocked from him

and he legitimately cant breathe for a solid moment. hes wheezing and he coughs hard enough to vomit. he doesnt have his breath back when he looks up and sees nya panicking at the sight of him and shes distracted and jay sees doubloon take an opening

jay doesnt even breathe when he instantly fires a lightning bolt from prone towards doubloon. and hes already up and sprinting to nyas side to fill her blindspot.

hes on the cusp of an asthma attack, he can feel it, but he doesnt have the time to worry about it (as if he had any control over it) his chest is tight and his breaths are too shallow and it hurts but he pushes through it to protect nya. hes slipping though

assaulted from all sides, between doubloon and dogshank and all the pirates, jay knows theyre going to lose. mostly because of him. hes dragging the two of them down and why did he ever think the two of them had the chance and why did he ever think that nadakhan would even come (hes not gonna this turned into a full divergence now) and even if he wasnt flagging hard now, he can feel it his chest that hes going to pass out if this goes on for any longer and leave nya to fend for himself and get them both captured and he cant let that happen.

nya is at her wits fucking end she can feel them losing too and nya refuses to think about how at this rate both of them are going down, but she wont let them. but, among the harsh clangs of weapons, the rush of floods, and the cracks of lightning at jays fingertips,

through all this discord, at this proximity she can hear jays struggled breaths and its the most terrifying sound in the world. then suddenly shes shoved to the side and hears a crash and a cry and when nya looks jays sliced through by doubloons sword

then something glows by her feet and nya realizes what jay did. he broke the teapot. clutching at his wound, jay gives nya a strained smile. he says "sorry" and kicks her in before she can object. before the portal closes she watches jay take a stand only to be subdued

she lands in the junkyard with a bad tumble. she just lies in the dust and dirt in shock. it happened too fast. jay sacrificed himself for her? jay risked himself even though he was the one who needed protecting and got himself hurt to pull that stunt.

and now hes in their clutches again. rage begins to well up. why! why?! why did jay do that?! is he stupid! there had to be a better way, they couldve escaped together and regrouped! tears begin to well up as well. nya gets up and smashes a bunch of junk

jays parents come out after that. and nya realizes where she is for the first time and forces herself to calm down. she sorts out her feelings over ednas soup after shes pulled into the trailer..... 

at first she doesnt get it. shes too upset to think about it. she vents to jays parents about what he did. "why did he do that?" and it was meant to be a rhetorical question for herself but edna gives her an answer thats way too simple.

"because he loves you." 

and nya is hit with another rude realization. shes been having too many of those

jay..... loves her. deeply. truly loves her genuinely, more than he cares about himself. its not just lingering attachment. its a deeper, more sincere love than nya could ever fathomed. nya knew how much jay loved her. but at the same time she didnt. she didnt get how he loved her

she feels a way about that. all this time jay loved her this bad? bad enough to catch hanahaki, bad enough to keep his hanahaki, bad enough to hide it. bad enough to *wish* for her love, to suffer, ang to get hurt for her...

she thinks he loves her bad enough to die for her. she really feels a way about that. her heart starts beating fast. she doesnt want to put together why. she kinda wants to cry.

why was she so mean to him... sometimes he deserved the little things he had coming but why was she so harsh. why did she fall out of love with him..... well she knows but also.... she was really unfair to him huh. jay wasnt perfect and he was too much but... she doesnt know.

all she knows is she feels a lot of regrets right now.. and moved by jay what did for her... along with this third unplaceable feeling. 

(she started falling in love again)

its a slow gradual thing tho. nya doesnt place it immediately. she doesnt think she wanted to after she broke up with him herself. didnt even think it was possible.

but eventually nya feels very embarrassed by it when she realizes. because 1) oh my god shes falling in love with him after falling out of love and dumping him? is she shameless? and also 2) flustered because shes For Reals in love this time now beyond the casual kind of love she held for him before. this realizaton doesnt happen anytime soon. probs a good amount of time after everything resolves

so for narrative purposes i swapped jays and nyas roles for this last part of the story only. i think its safe to say jay is not treated kindly when he reboards the ship. in fact i think theyre even crueler for letting nya get away. before he was just roughed up to play with him

a form of coercion to get him to make his last wish. this time theyre taking it out on jay as punishment. nya assembles a rescue party like jay does in canon and somehow rescues jay and she hates the state that she finds him hes in

i think he'll be easier to rescue than nya because hes not like.... nadakhans bride. but wait..... WAIT NO IT COULD HARDER BECAUSE THEY COULD SET HIM UP AS BAIT FOR NYA TO COME GET HIM.... FUCK CURSE MY WHUMP DRIVEN BRAIN!!!!!!!!!! ITLL BE SO MUCH HARDER TO GET HIM LIKE THIS BUT— 

THE IMAGE OF JAY BEING TIED/STRUNG UP IN PLAIN VIEW.... fuck. figuring it out is too hard and i dont even need to figure it out for the romance do i like goddammit. fucking sequencing..... maybe they get their friends out of the sword first.... somehow.

as for how they beat nadakhan..... i havent thought up a good way. i dont think it should go the same way as canon. i want nya to actually have her agency and not take it away again after ive given it to her. 

i however dont know what jays wish should be. thats like so hard to figure out. this end is a significance divergence from canon. oh also jay has been thoroughly gagged so he cant say his wish. and also maybe because the pirates got sick of his coughing. nadakhans goal for torturing jay has changed.

he doesnt want him to break and submit and wish himself away anymore. he has better use in making sure nya comes to him. well he can still break him. its extra motivation. an incentive for nya to be a bit more faster and careless in her desperation to save him. he just shuts jay up also.

also im a sadist. anyways back to defeating nadakhan.... its a little tough ngl! for me and for nya! because this story has diverged so considerably. it cant have the same climax as canon. it just doesnt work. not even when theyre roleswapped

nya cant make a wish. she doesnt have anymore wishes. or hmm maybe she does have one left like jay does in this timeline but i dunno.... technically i could do that bc nya used up her wishes in only stupid ways so its not that hard of a change. 

it changes their game plan in the lighthouse just a bit but in this version nadakhan doesnt even show up so story wise its a nonfactor. they both couldve made a wish and stopped things. but they dont get the chance to do that.

but either way nya having a wish is an option, not something thats set in stone. also i think nya gets a hold of the venom. either jay had passed it to her when he pushed her into the portal or it stayed on his person and was confiscated and nya obtained it because clancee told her about it. which ever works. man is jay doing rough in this au. hes suffering so many consequences....i think as hes bound and helpless, hes gonna have a lot of thoughts... and a lot of regrets

he wishes he never kept secrets, he wishes he didnt make things worse.... i think he wishes nya doesnt come and rescue him. because if she does and she gets captured and nadakhan marries her for infinite wishes then itll all be his fault. again. because nya risked herself for him

so jay hopes nya doesnt come. he wants her to be safe even if it means hes forever captured. its better than the worst case scenario. 

but a tiny tiny tiny part of jay that is wishful does hope that he is rescued. because hes weak. he selfishly wants nya to save him

he shouldve learned by now that his desire for nya doesnt do him any good. but the part thats terrible and in love still wishes for better. he wants to be saved. he wants to be forgiven. he wants to fix things. he doesnt want to hurt anymore.

he thinks he can accept nya never loving him again. but he wants to stop aching in his chest. but he cant let go of his love. at this point its a part of who he is. so even though hes resigned to suffer and part of him foolishly hopes. he wishes

but jay doesnt get it. nya HAS forgiven him. she wishes she has never hurt jay like she did and if she could she would take it back. shes determined to fix things one way or any other. she has to save him or shes the worst. jay never deserved *all* of this.

once she saves him shes going to fix them. somehow.

and somehow they do. with a wish i cannot fucking figure out so SPARE ME. but i think... they dont go back in time. things arent undone and theres damage everywhere. so much repairs to be done. and theres a start to everything

i think i forgot to mention but at the end of unrequited good end, which honestly i think friendship end is a more fitting name, jay and nya hug at the end of skybound when time rolls back. no kiss. i think the same happens at the end of requited end too. time doesnt roll back but they have moment... hug.. but still no kiss. not yet. nya hasnt realized her feelings are changing. actually she might it takes a bit for them to develop. jay and nya start having a very honest relationship with each other tho

nya doesnt want to ignore jays hanahaki and jay comes to a similar conclusion as friendship/unrequited end. he realizes nya still cares for him A Lot as a friend, she cared so much she risked everything to walk into nadakhans trap guns blazin. and he doesnt want to jeopardize their friendship by distancing himself.

he wants things to be normal between them despite his hanahaki. and the funny thing is that... in this end, jays hanahaki gets somewhat more manageable too.... but its for a different reason in this au. lol. lol. because his feelings are becoming requited.

his hanahaki isnt suddenly gone one day because nyas feelings are so ambiguous tho. and when she does finally realize that shes fallen for jay. she actually goes into a bit of denial. for a mix of reasons. 

its not because nya doesnt want to cure jay of his hanahaki. she just didnt think thats a thing that can happen. falling in love again. she was also so very sure that she didnt have feelings for jay anymore before so its also a pride thing she has going on. subconsciously, she doesnt want to take things back because shes stubborn.

and its also one part nya feeling like shes doing jay a little bit dirty somehow (her brain making her overthink in a twisted way) and that she wouldve been toying with jays feelings if she returns them now. after all this time has passed.

is she that fickle? (its not her being fickle) and nya cant quite place why she has feelings for jay again. nya feels like jay probably deserves someone better than her, someone who hasnt hurt him so bad.

nya has trouble understanding herself so she thinks shes being flaky and worries her feelings are flaky also and she doesnt want to hurt jay again with such uncertain feelings. i am making nya feel so fucking complicated and conflicted. FEELINGS ARE OFTEN AS SUCH!!!

but despite nya's internal turmoil, her feelings for jay are very genuine. she might think they are arbitrary but thats not quite the case. well her love is arbitrary as any other love is. but anyways. she fell again because jay did win her over, not even when he was trying to.

his sincere love... his dedication. when nya saw it in a different light it was attractive to her. she appreciates that jay loves her the way he does now. also before (the breakup) her love for jay was a bit shallow. it was just that casual. but now what she feels for jay is more genuine. and more equal. eventually she sorts it out. there might be some of romantic drama to get her to get there though. a bit more accidental hurt.

i had the tangential thought that jay might tell nya that his hanahaki is getting better causing her to go "on no". jays finally letting go of his feelings over for her and nya doesnt want to mess that up. hes finally recovering when she catching feelings again?

of course this would happen to her. shes glad but shes wistful she missed her chance at having a boyfriend who truly cares about her like jay does.... serves her right. .... nya is an idiot lol... jays is getting better bc of her skdjhtrglksdj. anyways

eventually... they talk. and sort it all out. all the hurt and feelings and love. nya opens up and confesses and jay cries about it lol. because this is all he had ever wanted ever since he fell in love with nya. the elation he feels is unparalleled. and tightness in his chest finally vanishes all together and he feels better than he has in ages. of course he says yes. he tells nya things to erase her doubts. and it took a lot of trouble to get here but theyre here now. together again for reals. and neither of them can believe it. 

they hold hands. and they finally kiss

okay. im finally picking flowers. ive been thinking about it a bit while i wrote this whole thing. it wasnt a priority. but i do wanna pick some flowers that fit this story....

had the thought that depending on the end of this au (... i have aus within my au huh....) jay actually has different flowers. different meanings and symbolism.

i want jays primary flower to be an anemone for the record. “forsaken love”. nods. thats pretty representative of jays love for like. 3 seasons. also.... shares a name with the ocean animal. water... small connection with nya... not directly representative of her but it does a little. anemone has a few other meanings as well and i think those can fit too depending on the end. but the primary meaning im using is forsaken love (apparently its specifically the red and pink ones that mean this. please do note all these flower language resources are pretty inconsistent from each other)

tragic death end- anemone (specifically red- also means death), red poppy (remembrance in death), red spider lily (am i going too ham with the death flowers? yes. would jay see this as an ill omen? definitely. however. symbolism. also this bouquet is just So red. with blood lol)

tragic lost love (surgery) end- anemone, yellow chrysanthemums (broken/slighted love), black dahlia (betrayal), narcissus (unrequited love, selfishness), rue (regret), i would add forget me nots if i didnt think it doesnt fit with the colors

friendship/unrequited end- anemone, yellow rose (bros the meaning of the yellow rose is so fucking loaded LMAO. friendship, infidelity (nya), undying love? the wiki sure lists a lot), dandelion (overcoming hardship, growth, hope, and healing, friendship)

requited end- anemone, sea lavender (remembrance/memory, sympathy, i love you), sea holly (independence (nya) and attraction (jay)). okay so i dunno if a bouquet of these would look good together per se but.... ocean theme.... and also i wanted the flowers to rep both jay and nya in meanings.... since this is the end in which theyre together after all....

flower language is fucking hard. but i cant NOT put sincere thought into it. its fucking hanahaki i feel like i Gotta. btw these arent 100% set in stone i might change my mind about them? but i do really like anemone tho.... and tangential thought hgtjbnfjkghl sea holly would be fucking AWFUL for jay to cough up. esp when he starts spitting full flowers. those look like they hurt. just like what its like to love nya (lol). flower that would definitely make him cough blood

calling eddie by his name instead of the usual 'babe' or 'baby' and he thinks hes in trouble

you wandered into yours and eddies room, staring down at the assembly instructions of the coffee table you had just bought.

"hey, eddie, i know i said i could do this myself but can you help me real quick?" you asked, not looking up from the paper.

you missed the way he tensed, quickly setting aside his guitar and making his way to you.

"uh... yeah, of course."

"great!" you headed back into the living room of your new home, eyes still scanning the words on the page. "i cant get this tightened down enough, and i dont want it to be all wobbly and uneven."

eddie nodded, uncharacteristically quiet as he mulled over the day in his head. maybe you really did want him to help and he just didnt pick up on the signals? he forgot to put gas in the van and you had to go and do it, but you brought him back a snack from inside, surely you werent mad at him about that? shit, what was the date?

"you okay, love?" you laughed softly, waving your hand in front of his face to snap him back to reality.

"did i... did i do something wrong?" he asked, and the hurt puppy dog look on his face made your heart melt.

"what? no, baby, what makes you say that?" you set the paper down, handing him the little hex key that came with the table. "this one right here."

he didnt look at you, a little embarrassed at being so anxious over such a small thing, instead focusing on tightening the little screw keeping the leg in place.

"you called me eddie."

"...isnt that your name?" you laughed softly, not quite understanding.

"well yeah, but you never call me eddie." he set the key down after tightening it, taking the other screw you handed to him and placing it in the hole, tightening it with his fingers as much as he could before going back to the key.

you thought for a moment, trying to recall the last time you called him by his actual name.

"huh. i guess i dont." you laughed, grabbing his hand to get his attention. "did you think i was mad at you?"

"yes!" he sounded exasperated and you laughed more. "i thought i forgot our anniversary or something, fuck. i was freaking out!"

you snorted through your laughter causing eddie to grin.

"no! jesus, im sorry baby. im not mad, i promise."

he laughed in relief, shaking his head before leaning over the little coffee table to kiss your head.

"im glad. had me scared for a minute."

a/n: good evening may i interest you in some modern headcanons? THIS WAS VERY FUN TO WRITE AND I MISS GOING TO COFFEE SHOPS:(( ( @xiaophobic at this point im just!! tagging u in anything that i write thats a modern au and has kazuha in it!! i hope u dont mind!! )

albedo

youre not really sure how he fits here, but his latte art for sure is something else — you catch yourself observing him working quite often and feel a little bit embarrassed when he asks you if you want to learn it too. he doesnt talk much, but in his defense, it is quite hard to do so over the sounds of the coffee machines. he smiles at you after a couple of your visits and starts to chat a little bit and offer you a muffin to go with your order, on the house, as he says with a certain uncertainty in his voice. you sometimes see him bring his younger sister in — klee, as you learn when she hops over to you and introduces herself, telling you that big brother albedo said something about a pretty person in that place he works at and shes pretty sure its you! and even though you see him mortified after he hears what klee says, his hands freezing on the cup hes holding, you only laugh and tell her that you think albedo is quite pretty himself too.

childe

hes the one charming in the clients to buy that cookie for their coffee, because as he says “whats a good coffee without something to go with it?” hes always chatting with everyone, a big smile on his face and some flour on his cheeks, running between the kitchen and the cash register. he seems to be helping out everyone at all times and you often wonder how hes not tired. probably jokes around and flirts with you when he notices you coming back, saying my, my, didnt know i caught your eye so much and when you answer how did you know? a blush spreading across his cheeks. swears he doesnt await your visits, but has your order memorized. kazuha only looks at you with a sparkle in his eyes and tells you that even though he still charms the clients, he looks at you in a different way than he looks at them.

to be quite honest, you only see him by accident on the times where youre so early that hes putting out the goods he baked. he talks to you, speaking in a way that makes you wonder if he writes poetry. you converse with him as if you were lifetime friends and he offers to teach you how to bake after you praise his skills. you take up the offer, a hint of surprise visible on his face, but he only smiles and promises to do it when the both of you have time. as the two of you grow closer, exchanging numbers and all, you find yourself sitting at the table near the window, waiting for him to come out. he brings you coffee and some of the cookies he baked, and you sit and chat. you find some napkins with his poetry scribbled on them and you cant help but realize that the person he describes is a little bit too similar to you for it to be an accident.

xiao

he doesnt talk much, opting to speak to the clients in short and curt sentences. you see childe make fun of him quite often and zhongli telling him to be a little bit less harsh. he doesnt seem to mind them, only rolling his eyes at childes antiques, but he seems to be a little bit ashamed when it comes to the older one. you try to make conversation with him and even though at first he looks at you as if you fell from the moon, after some time he warms up. when you pop up in the coffee shop you may find him smiling a little bit when he notices you, ignoring albedos comments when he chirps in that he was waiting for you to come here. you spend his breaks together and even though youre usually the one speaking, he always listens, without a doubt. childe asks if youre a couple and maybe just to make him shut his mouth for once or maybe because he wanted to, xiao actually asks you out for a date. you dont notice his shaky hands or the little thumbs up zhongli gives him, but you notice the way hes trying to be a little bit gentler with his words and you appreciate it.

zhongli

hes the fine gentleman responsible for this establishment. hes the manager, the one that started this little shop that quickly grew into popularity and you think its a crime how beautiful he is. the first time you see him, the sun adorning his figure and creating a halo, your breath hitches and youre not sure what to do. he speaks with so much elegancy and knowledge, telling you all he knows about coffee and tea, especially tea, and upon noticing his interest in it, you find yourself buying tea, even though you came here for coffee. hes the one taking care of xiao and putting childe in his place, the one telling kazuha to finally rest and the one helping albedo take care of klee. and so you cant blame yourself for admiring him, his presence always calming you down. you cant help but keep coming back, not only for the tea, but also for a chance of a chat with him.

“you’re fucking ridiculous!”

“you’re injured, how the fuck is it me that’s being unreasonable?”

she contemplated stabbing him straight to his chest. “i’m fine, leave me alone,” she hissed, holding on to her arm as she tried to limp away. second year jujutsu student noritoshi kamo wondered how the hell one could be this stubborn. with blood caked up on the side of her face, lips busted and bruising in the corner, not to mention the broken arm and probably twisted ankle, he could not understand how one could be this reckless and stupid, it’s almost ridiculous.

but here she is standing in front of him.

“you could’ve let me handle it,” he said, coldly.

she never turned that fast in her life; her limping leg suddenly worked fine as she hauled her ass, throwing both fists to his chest. the force put was enough to threw him back a few steps, he caught her wrists holding her from falling down. “stop acting like i’m so fragile. i can exorcist the curse just fine. you make me hate you so much,” she spitted, pure rage etched on her face, “just because i’m a girl, because i’m your girl, i’m weak. please, i am as good as you are, kamo.”

their faces were so close, he could count the freckles spread on her nose and cheeks. he loves her eyes the very first time he caught glimpse of it; one is a dull brown while the other looks like it carries the secret of the bright blue sea. this time, the eyes he loves looked hopeless, lack of the burning spirit she carried with tears threatening to spill. letting go of a wrist, his trembling hand brushed the hair coated with the blood back, carefully not to hurt her. “i never said you are bad,” he clarified, fingers busy brushing the hair back. his sudden reaction surprised her, and her body betrayed her thoughts as she eased in his arms.

he tilted her chin, his head was panicking as he realised that his brain was no longer controlling his movement as he leaned down and kissed her.

she tasted like blood.

she winced, pain aching on the swollen part and he apologized so quietly as he deepened the kiss. “nori-” her voice croaked as she swallowed his moans. he hummed, satisfied by the kiss. their foreheads rest against each other, the tip of their noses touched as they struggled to catch breath.

“stop being stupid. let me help you okay?”

“okay.”

slipping his arm under hers, he helped her walk, leading them out of the abandoned building they managed to exorcist. nothing major, a couple of pestering level three and four curses that them both handled well but their supervisor missed to tell them about the hiding level two curse that took them by surprise. she had become the curse’s main target.

if she would’ve just listened to him and stay close. he sighed.

“ouch, ouch,” she cried, clutching on her left leg, forcing him to stop. impatient, he slipped his hand under her knees, lifting her up in his arms. she apologized profusely, embarrassed to be such a burden to him. he brushed it off immediately.

“did you call them? told them that we are done?”

she gasped, “wait, i thought they’ll wait for us.”

he huffed, “you’re not that important, y/n. give them a call, please. i want to go home.”

kicking the door open, the moonlight shone on them as he carried her down to the bottom stairs. settling her down on the steps, he sat beside her, letting a long sigh. he watched as she took the call, letting them know that she was slightly injured, and they need to go back asap. she was visibly tired, and he was the same too.

he couldn’t help but to sigh at the way the moonlight enveloped her. he had loved her from the very first moment he caught his eyes on her; she caught him staring, called him out publicly and ignored all his advances. it took him a lot to court her. she’s a gojo, she can have anything and everything with the sky is the limit.

but one thing money could never buy is affection.

it started with little stuffs; noritoshi waiting for her with her lunch readied every day. it annoyed her but momo (who was secretly rooting for him) forced her to just do it. “it’s just a lunch,” momo said sheepishly. noritoshi would have them paired all the time for the missions. she’d accepted it with open heart. noritoshi would also teach her how to weld a bow and shoot arrows. she promised that she would go out on date with him if he taught her.

by the end of their first year, they became inseparable.

the idea of being apart from her hurts him physically and mentally. she took a sharp breath when he laced his fingers between her own, quickly telling the other person on the phone that she was okay. “it was just noritoshi,” she replied with a small laugh. their hands fit each other; his skin contrasted her slightly tanned skin. while his hands were rough from welding the bow and he kept his nail short and clean, hers were slightly softer with her nails painted prettily. this month she had her nails painted in pastel. all the girls’ day out with momo and mai had proven its importance. he was happy to provide her with his black card despite her discontent.

“analysing my hands now?”

he smiled slightly, “it looks very pretty. i guess i got my money worth. are they coming?”

she leaned on his shoulder, his own wrapped around her as she closed her eyes, “they are around the corner. i would definitely need another round this week,” she teased. kissing her forehead gently, he didn’t mind that his uniform was stained with her blood; he was glad that she’s safe.

“i’ll happily take you there.”

few years later;

noritoshi kamo almost lost his mind. the stadium was half destroyed, huge craters on the pitch with the sight of his wife nowhere to be found. he looked up to the black pitch curtain encasing the stadium area from the sky, a curse escaped his lips.

“where the fuck are you?” he grunted, scanning the area.

she is gone, his stubborn little wife. she could’ve just wait but annoyed that their dinner date was interrupted and eager because this was their first mission together as a married couple; she escaped his supervision. as they were dealing with minor curses outside, she decided to head on forward, leaving him to deal with whatever is left. he beat himself inside for letting her come, he could easily do this himself and send her home safely, but she blinked her eyes and he was weak. she always has her way with him.

his step stopped when he realised there was a shadow ahead.

“she’s pretty,” the thing said.

his blood ran cold, “what did you do to my wife?”

the curse let out a laugh. it was sinister enough to send chills down his spine. especially when he realised the head it was stepping on was his wife. her eyes were fluttering back and forth, struggling to stay awake. a howl shocked him, shivers down his spine at the painful whimpers her shikigami making. cursed spirits were devouring it alive, overwhelming it and chewing every part of its body. his wife was too weak to dispel the shikigami; it’s dangerous as the devoured wolf shikigami will drain her cursed energy by a second.

all shikigami linked directly to the owner; everything inflected to the wolf, she could feel it too.

he needed a plan.

hidden in his wedding ring was a retractable knife. he rarely carries blood bags anymore as his power solidified itself. the older he got, the better he was at using and controlling a small steady flow of his own blood straight from the tap. with a clap of his hands, the knife cut his hand enough to send blood shooting like bullets. the blood hit the curses straight to its cores, died out instantly on impact, but the shikigami was beyond salvageable. it let out one last howl, one last goodbye before dropping to the ground, half of his snout gone. she will be devastated, it’s her only shikigami she managed to tame at such a young age, but at least it has stopped the shikigami from stripping his wife’s cursed energy to its core.

the fire burning in his eyes only made the curse laughed. he kicked her body away, spurting blood out of her mouth. she was halfway close to death’s doorstep.

“i will fucking murder you,” he hissed.

“my blood is my power. it’s supposed to rot human, stripping its meat from the bone like acid. however,” the curse nudged her body, “your wife didn’t. humour me, did your blood tainted hers? tell me, i’m curious how.”

“are you going to chit chat because i don’t have whole day.” his blood dripped on the pitch.

the curse grinned, shrugging his shoulder. he kneeled, running his bloody fingers on her cheeks leaving trails of flowers pattern that dissipated immediately, “i’m not here to fight. i’m here to serve a warning,” he looked up to the tensed sorcerer, “for gojo satoru. tell him, we’ll be waiting for him in shibuya.” noritoshi’s face scrunched in confusion.

“we have no business with the gojos.”

“but she is. she could change her name, married you, but it doesn’t erase the fact that she carried gojo’s blood in her vein. she’s the bridge to your two clans. i’m just killing two birds with one stone. ruin the kamo clan’s relationship with gojos and hurt gojo satoru. all thanks to her,” the curse turned his back on him, his laugh echoed as he walked away. the dark curtain disappeared slowly as the ground rumbled. a perfect chance for noritoshi to strike if it wasn’t because of the cursed spirit’s words gluing him to his spot, “oh, kamo, i believe a congratulation is overdue. let me know when’s the baby is due, i would love to drop by personally.”

the pillar holding on to the roof collapsed sending wave of dust all over the place. noritoshi covered his face, coughing as he sucked some in, removing his coat as a shield. the cursed spirit was no where to be found.

“the place is going to collapse! i’ll get the curse, you go get her!”

a voice echoed and he caught a glimpse of blond hair running past him and noritoshi didn’t think twice as he sprinted around the cracks and holes. who was that voice or who was the curse, he couldn’t give a single fuck, he just wants his wife back. he was shaking when he got to her, arms immediately scooped her up in his arms. her chest was raising slowly, blood dripping on the side of her lips as she struggled to exhale.

“you’re going to be okay,”

he told her, but he wasn’t sure if he will ever be.

“can you turn down the stupid light, it’s hurting my eyes.”

the voice laughed melodiously, the light moved to the other eye repeating the same thing.

“as you can see, she’s awake, slightly weak, but she should be okay.”

another voice interrupted, “are you sure?” she gasped, excited to hear a familiar voice. “nori?” she called out, unable to open her eyes, relying strictly to her hearing as she reached her shaky hands out for him. “her senses might be slightly off, just let her do it herself,” the woman’s voice noted, and she felt annoyed. how dare you underestimate me, her mind scoffed.

“my senses are fine. see?” she claimed as she held noritoshi’s hand up. he smiled, gently rubbing her hand with encouragement. “thanks, shoko, we are fine.”

“i’ll leave you be then. call me if you need anything.”

she listened to the clacking of shoko’s heels, followed by the door opening and slamming shut. she jumped, but he held her hand tighter, reassuring her that it’s alright. “so why can’t i see?” she asked, confident that they are alone now. she felt the bed sunk a little on the left side, “you were high on anesthesia, i’m surprise you could even move your jaw to speak.” she felt a finger brushed her hair aside, breath loomed on her face and she could feel her own face reddening up.

“are you going to kiss me or are you just going to tease me?” his heart swell up, despite her shaky voice almost made him laugh.

“do you trust me?” his hand cupped her cheek gently.

she nodded eagerly, “always.”

“good.”

his kiss hit her like a waft of fresh air. every kiss felt like a first kiss to her that she couldn’t help to react so eagerly to it. his tongue slipped through her defense, overwhelming her taste buds with such strong taste of iron. it didn’t stop her. she knew what he was doing from start. he peeked a little, didn’t stop a second from kissing her as he watched his blood marking appeared on her face. her hands went up around her neck pulling him closer and he obeyed, deepening the kiss.

heal; his mind commanded.

after a while, she pulled back, being the one to break apart from the kiss first, her chest raising up and down as she struggled to catch her breath. her eyes were wide open now, fluttering lazily as she leaned back on the propped-up pillow. he wiped the corner of his lips, eyes on her as he watched the open wound on her face and arms slowly closed leaving the fresh healed red marks behind. he relaxed when he heard a thank you coming from her, as she checked her healed arms.

“i’m disappointed with you,” he finally broke the silence.

“really?” she frowned. he always does this thing where he will immediately go into lecture mood every time she does something that pisses him off. it’s almost like a game to her as she waited for him to explode, “right now? not even going to wait until i’m discharged. this is a new record, toshi. like shoko said, i’m fine.” he shook his head, “it doesn’t make it right. you always disobeyed me. ignored my orders, going about with your goddamn big head, you could’ve been killed.”

she rolled her eyes, noritoshi is being noritoshi, what a drama queen, she mentally rolled her eyes, “but i’m not,” she pushed her hair back, twisting it easily into a simple loose knot, “i told you, i am not weak.”

“your shikigami was destroyed, your blood was poisoned, 70 percent was already circulating to every part of your vein, i had to beg for the higher up to help purify your blood,” her smile died down. this game no longer feels fun for her. noritoshi was really mad this time. “you think it’s fun and all game but game over, y/n. you need to stop doing this. if you can’t do it for me, do it for yourself.”

“leave me alone, nori, if you just going to nag, please i don’t want to hear it. i’m tired.”

it made him angry that she was taking his word lightly. running his hand in his messy hair, he felt like hauling his head to the wall.

“you don’t understand-”

she slammed her hand on the bed, interrupting his words, “no YOU don’t understand me, i’m tired of you babying me. i’m an adult, i am your wife, stop treating me like a fucking child! we have been married for months, but god you’re suffocating me.”

“i will when you stop endangering yourself. i will stop treating your like a child when you stop acting like one. you’re pregnant, for the love of god!” he threw his hand on the wall. the wall cracked from the force. “i’m what?” she felt the world stopped spinning. she was hundred percent sure that her ears and head were deceiving her. he removed his hand from the hole he made on the wall, his body shaking from the amount of anger building up.

“noritoshi, answer me! what do you mean- i’m not pregnant, i had my period this month.”

“you are,” he shrugged. he felt something hit him in the back; looking down he saw the fluffy white pillow sitting by his feet.

he pointed to the bedside table where a sonogram perched up against a tissue box. she was about to lose her mind. “this is not funny, if this is your mean way of fucking me up because i won’t listen to you then this is just fucking cruel.”

he marched towards him, his hand went down on his chin, forcing her eyes on him, “until you stop playing your stupid games, until you stop treating your life like it’s nothing, until you consider my feelings and my worries, as your husband is valid, i do not exist in your life,” tears fell down her cheeks, “like you, i’m tired too.

“nori i-“

he left her before she could say a word. she broke into sob; her chest was pounding so hard that the blood pressure monitor was beeping. the door burst opened but it was not the face she wanted to see. she was immediately hysterical. satoru managed to hold her wrist down before she ripped the tubes and needles off her arms. “no, no, i want nori. where is he!” she screamed as satoru held her down. “you need to calm down, it’s not good for the baby,” satoru cooed, but she was not having it. he turned to shoko, “her cursed energy is skyrocketing, she’s going hysterical, do something!”

“let me go!”

shoko held out a syringe, “hold her down.”

she screamed, thrashing so rough that she almost slipped out of the strongest sorcerer’s hands. she managed to get a needle out before she felt another sharp pain on her back. shoko pulled the empty needle out and they retreated away as she fell on her butt backward. she was reduced to a babbling mess, her eyes drooped as she struggled to fight the waves of sleepiness hitting her one after another.

“tell him i’m sorry,” she croaked out, before everything turned completely dark.

the blood pressure monitor returned back to normal.

three days later;

“are you still going to ignore her? it’s been 3 days.”

“she needs to learn her place.”

gojo satoru disagreed. he eyed the head of the clan, shaking his head before standing up. he thought he could convince noritoshi kamo to visit his wife, but the man was as stubborn as- huh, her.

“i think she have learned enough, she’s miserable. you’re miserable.”

the man glared at the blonde man child, raising the cup of tea up for a sip. the tea doesn’t taste as good as the way she made it. he left her for 3 days and he found himself struggling to do everything alone. 

he, noritoshi kamo, 23 years old and the head of the kamo family, could not make a cup of fucking tea.

she always said that the best way to make tea depends on how long you let it steep. “too early and you won’t get the right amount of flavour,” she explained, her back facing him as he watched from the counter as she loomed over the stove, “but if you steep it way too long you going to burn the tea leaves and it will make everything taste bitter.” she turned around, a huge smile on her face that made his heart skipped a beat.

he frowned; the tea tasted bitter.

“she’s pregnant, she’s supposed to be crazy. you are supposed to be the wise one. she is going to carry your child for 9 long months, i can’t explain to you how long that’s going to be but she is allowed to be crazy.”

he dropped the cup on the floor when gojo’s hand grabbed him by his collar, pulling him up from his chair.

“now please, see your goddamn wife before i deck you in the mouth.”

“i will.”

satisfied with his answer, gojo’s demeanor changed and he was again the man child they all know of him. noritoshi could no longer focus on the report in front of him; not when his mind is full of her and only her.

would she forgive him? he wasn’t sure.

but he would spend his lifetime making up to her and the baby if that’s necessary.

Pretty one and the gruff one im THINKING is He Xuan (or Ming Yi/ Ming-Xiong/Ming Bro) for the grumpy one and Shi Qingxuan for the pretty one and both are kinda gender fluid?? I think The Two Gruff Idiots are Feng Xin (dark haired gruff boy) and Mu Qing (brown haired gruff boy) and theyre both martial gods and both knew each other for over 800 years and both tried to take care of Actual Human And Heavenly Disaster Xie Lian, failed, and tried to do it again 800 years later but with stupid glasses with moustaches in hopes that Xie Lian cant figure out that they care about him but OOPS Xie Lian does in fact have the braincell of the three of them fajfafjajf 

Heres the link to watch the anime, there are 11 eps rn but it updates every weekend (I dont actually know when but i watch it on sundays) Make sure u have ur ad block on tho lol there is a manga too and the art style is TO DIE FOR like its GORGEOUS but its roughly at the same pace as the anime so eh

Mo Dao Zu Shi (or Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation/ The Untamed/MDZS) is both a Book as well as an Anime (the whole thing is on youtube) , a Live Action which you can watch on Netflix (look up Untamed, also a warning, the plot is a little different from the book and anime cause of uhhh censorship?? also i guess to make it more live drama friendly, my friends an i binged it and really liked it, but some of the fandom doesn’t), a manga which is not finished I think???? idk im not caught up, and a fucking chinese AUDIO DRAMA LIKE BITCH ITS SO WELL DONE but i have to stop listening sometimes cause like there is a difference between watching/reading characters kiss, and then like just hearing them, i get so embarrassed i have to skip the kissing scenes and god forbid i accidentally click on the smutty extras alfjajlfjalfjaljf u can find it on youtube, i linked the one i listen to but i havent finished it and i don’t think it’s all of it, but you can find other episodes/chapters easily

Its about 1 Dumb Yet So Smart gay/bi man (Wei Wuxian) who honestly tries his fucking best, fucks up everything, dies for over a decade, and then is forcefully brought back to life to solve a murder mystery with the guy who has been in Super Gay Love with him since they were teens (Lan Zhan), a bunch of teens Who Are Just Honestly Here For A Good Time And Yet (Lan Juniors, Jin Ling, and Best Boy Ouyang Zizhen ) while badly hiding his real identity from all the people he knows, including his foster brother (Jiang Cheng) who is out for blood and hunting his ass down with a whip and also Lan Zhan who is travelling with him. Also the Killer. There is a killer on the loose and is willing to murder whoever to keep their secrets. Also Nie Huaisang. I adore him and his brother Nie Mingjue, if there is one bitch u gotta remember from this summary it’s this little twink (he and his brother also have a fucking spin off movie from the live action drama THAT I HAVENT BEEN ABLE TO FIND A ENGLISH SUB VERSION AND ITS BEEN KILLING ME SINCE I STARTED WATCHING THIS SHOW LAST YEAR. GOOGLE GIVE ME MY FAVOURITE TWINK AND HIS BEAR OF A BROTHER HAVING A FUN FAMILY ROAD TRIP!!!!!!!)

My Personal Current Favourite is Scum Villain’s Self Saving System (SVSSS) which is SOOOOOOO FUNNY Like it’s not as popular cause the comic was discontinued, and the anime looks like its from 2005 with the weird 3D animation but its my current comfort media!!! 

Its basically about a spite reading millennial (Shen Yuan) who died after reading a REALLY awful popular cheesy smut harem novel (think like 50 shade series but worse cause the protag had 600 wives) and was forced into the body of a minor but important villain (the protagonist’s teacher, Shen Qingqiu) from the novel who was fated to die with all his limbs cut off and his eyes and tongue plucked out and is told he has to fix the story so its not trash, he reasonably freaks the fuck out and hugs the protagonists (Luo Binghe) thigh so hard he turns him gay without realizing. Sadly, he does have to make sure certain plot points happen, which fucks him over a lot,  and he thinks Luo Binghe still wants to kill him instead of love him cause he has the Emotional Intelligence of a Rock, but its so funny reading about him handling all the awful tropey stuff, like imagine u have to be a character in My Immortal But With Porn?????? without breaking out of character too much?? I wouldn’t be able to handle it ajhakfkfhjfj He also finds out that he’s not the only transmigrator in the novel either, but it doesn’t matter cause theyre both So Fucking Stupid Collectively but everyone would honestly die for the both of them

warning for this story though, the main relationship is a teacher/student relationship, but nothing happens until the student is in his 20s and also kinda not his student anymore cause he’s running hell??? but if that squicks u out i totally understand and offer you to PLEASE still enjoy some of this media, and instead of the BingQiu ship, I offer you the LiuQiu one, where both me and the main character cry over how a beautiful man/fellow immortal lord loves the main character so much that he literally fought every day for 5 years to be by his side and I Think Thats Beautiful and I kinda like this ship more than the main one tbh PLEASE just look at the art for Liu Qingge because i love him so much, he’s like if you took Lan Zhan and Jiang Cheng from MDZS and mashed them into one beautiful man the author is trying to tell me is straight but u take one look at him And Tell Me Otherwise

I'm BACK after a hiatus, which was due in part to me getting my 1st dose of the covid vaccine! woohoo!

anyways, starting here w/issue 22....we have a great cover w/thunderclash, the legend himself

oof. the covers made me forget how much I don't like the art this issue...I hate to be mean to the artists but this art style just isn't doin it for me chief

god I love this issue though. the framing device of rewind’s movie is so so fantastic

OHHH mannnnNNNNN i love this issue SO MUCH. what a good fun emotional rollercoaster wrap-up to mtmte s1. god. 

like, this issue has it all - humor, drama, crippling sadness, intrigue, worldbuilding...it’s so excellent 

and getting to see rewind again hurts so bad but also I love him

ok quick mtmte s1 retrospective...god s1 is so fucking good. I'm gonna have to read more to say which chunk of mtmte I liked best but s1 is so fucking excellent that it might be my favorite. though its hard to pick bc there's so much good stuff later on too...whatever, the point is s1 is so so good

the plotlines and characters are fucking stellar. like I cant even believe how well Everything works, its very impressive. I cant really think of anything major that made me go ‘yeah could've done without that plotline/character’

I love how dedicated jro is to connecting everything. I've mentioned it before but basically every single moment in the series has payoff - what you initially think is just a funny moment, or a fluffy character establishment bit, ends up ALSO being an important plot point later, in some way

an example would be here w/rung and his alt mode - it just seems like a fun little B-plot for this issue, and seems to pretty neatly conclude with the reveal that rung was eventually classified as an ‘ornament’ (lmao)...but we later on get to see a lot more about this, both here and in the functionist universe 

and like, stuff like tailgate’s autobot lessons w/magnus - at first that can be seen as purely character establishment stuff, showing that magnus is a strict rule-lover and tg is a loveable try-hard good boy - but that becomes plot relevant in remain in light, with tailgate saving the day due to his knowledge of the autobot code (and its also character relevant, with magnus’s arc in remain in light). 

and I know this is like. a normal regular thing in writing, but I'm just very impressed about how cleanly jro pulls it off, and how many things he’s juggling at once, especially in early mtmte - it’s very ambitious!

and we gotta remember, this is a comic book. I've read a lot of comic books, and the quality is all over the place. a lot of writers bite off more than they can chew, and the story ends up kinda scattered as a result. 

another thing I see a lot in franchise writing like this is a lack of strong early character establishing due to the author assuming the readers are at least somewhat familiar with the characters already - which can be totally fair depending on where it is in the continuity, but other times it can come off as lazy

in mtmte, the cast is extremely well fleshed out, and not only that, the cast itself is unique in that there are a lot of relative unknowns (franchise-wise) - which I think was an absolutely brilliant move, because then jro was able to essentially create The Definitive Version of these characters - characters like swerve, brainstorm, chromedome, rewind, tailgate...mtmte is their baseline characterization, because they haven't really appeared in much else

this also allows for deviation from the franchise norms - again, a comic book classic is good writing being stifled by a need to stick to a certain status quo regard the characters, the world, the powers, relationships, etc

(I've mostly read DC comics, and some marvel, so I'm thinking superheroes w/all these comic comparisons)

so mtmte had a good recipe for genuine creativity in that the characters were relative unknowns, the plot was basically ‘space road trip,’ the status quo of ‘autobot vs decepticon war’ had been demolished throughout the entire franchise...so jro was able to take all that and run, and it turned out so fantastic

and luckily it isn't over yet! so many comics suffer from premature cancellation...and sadly mtmte/ll isn't exempt from this, as we’ll see later, but I've seen some awful ones, where comics are forced to wrap up in like 2 issues while in the middle of an arc. yikes. 

but another comic staple...one of my least favorite things about comics books in general...something that was basically responsible for driving me away from comics after reading a bunch...the dreaded crossover event

yep, even mtmte isn't immune to this unfortunate plague on the comic industry. crossover events are the absolute worst, and I'm saying this as somebody who adores crossovers (in concept more than execution usually). they SHOULD be my favorite, but unfortunately they p much always completely suck

they're essentially a ploy to get you to read the other ongoing titles, but they usually only serve to bog down whatever story you're reading to the point where you don't even wanna read that one anymore, let alone read all the other ongoings. at least, that’s been my experience 

it doesn't help that reading orders tend to be hard to find/keep track of, and that you need to go read the other series to know what's going on. I just hate it, like, I came here to read THIS series, I don't want a bunch of other series showing up too - even if I was reading two series, I wouldn't want them crossed over, because they're separate stories! augh!

I'm totally losing my focus here but my point is...crossover events suck, and mtmte unfortunately is involved in one. I have not read dark cybertron, and I'm not about to. I've heard nothing but bad things so I have no desire to inflict that upon myself 

soooo ill be reading through the tfwiki articles for those issues to give myself a better understanding of what went on - which is more than I've ever done in the past - and maybe ill even make a single post summarizing my thoughts on what I read in the wiki, lmao

today my family and i got a tour of the new, remodeled high school (my grandpa used to be the principal and then superintendent) and theres a lot i could say about the whole experience but the #1 thing i wasnt expecting was for the gym teacher to tag along

like obv the principal and superintendent were with us (until they had meetings to attend), and my brother was really close with the band director so he was with us for most of the tour too, but the gym teacher??? she stuck with me and i was surprised bc i really didnt think she liked me all that much? Tho maybe ive just been holding onto an interaction she and i had when i was like 15 oops i mean she’s chill i just...i dunno! Was unexpected but not unwelcome or unpleasant.

Also yes of course I got to see my boy Jeff tho idk why i didnt just ask him to join us cuz he knew we were coming lmfaoo thats on me cuz hes too polite to intrude. Hes got a new classroom with fewer walls and its very nice!! Hes got BEAUTIFUL new cabinets that he was very excited abt when i talked to him on the phone the other night. i cant wait until he can ACTUALLY decorate the walls (cuz theyre still being a bitch about the paint i guess) bc i just know its gonna have so much character and personality and im just so happy for him. Tho the teaching conditions still arent ideal he loves his room

I said i was only gonna say 1 thing lmfaoo oops but yeah i got to see my old art and spanish teachers too and that was really nice :’) my spanish teacher was EXTREMELY excited about her classroom bc wayyyy back in the day, the part of the school her classroom was located was an open area, and so by the time i was in school, that was out of fashion so there were weird fake walls put up, but they were paper thin and you could hear anything and everything that went on in there. The math hallway was also like this and the computer lab by the library also was like that. ANYWAY she was very excited bc she was blasting music and the english teacher next door couldnt hear it at all!! So really theyre both excited to have real walls lol

It was very crazy when the principal or a teacher would say to my brother and i “so this is where x was when you were here”. Like theres 2 sets of front doors now, and the 2nd front doors are where the front of the school used to be! And things like that and it was so mind boggling bc it looks SO DIFFERENT. I graduated 4.5 yrs ago and i would come back every year for the faculty play in the spring, so i wasnt a complete stranger, but god i FEEL like one now bc of how different it all is. It looks so GOOD tho!!

Also my mom was insaaanely jealous bc they have a huuuge ass auditorium now (the only pics i took on the tour were of my brother on the catwalk lmfao) and she was a theater kid and had to do all that shit in the cafeteria lol. I told her to enroll back in highschool and she said she was thinking about it. Oh!!! She also said she was gonna shove me in the new, nice, larger lockers >:( bullying me in front of my hs teachers smfhhh and trying to embarrass me in front of jeff (i dont even remember what she said when we were in his classroom but i remember saying “she’s been making fun of me this whole tour”)

AEW Revolution 2020 - Preview & Predictions

Jon Moxley vs Chris Jericho (c) - AEW Championship Match

Will the first ever AEW champions reign finally end tonight? Or will Le Champion retain?

A feud that’s developed really well over time as they've been waiting for this PPV to really hit it big, from the group to the eye patch nearly everything has hit it out the park.

For me I see a new champion crowned in Mox, but what follows for Jericho? Im not sure if we really know the answer yet to that question, in that I dont think he’ll want to be around weekly and would rather leave for afew months do some gigs then return later. Maybe stay around for a big rematch but then look to take a break, but then what becomes of the Inner Circle without its charismatic leader? It really could slow their progress without their leader around.

As for Moxley as champion who steps up as his first challenger? Do they get around Cody not being able to go for the title after his MJF feud? Maybe Lance Archer goes instantly into the title scene with his debut and carries on the brawls he had with Moxley in NJPW? After that it looks alittle bleak to be honest, Omega is in his tag team with Page, Pac has been beaten this week by Kenny and one win over Orange Cassidy tonight may not be enough to propel him into the slot. And the other person in the top rankings is MJF who will HAVE to beat Cody to take that spot, I thought that match was fairly dead on as to Cody winning but maybe that’s more open, more on that later....

Mox takes the win and the title - MOXLEY

Cody vs MJF

The blood feud reaches its peak tonight after all of the steps required were crossed by Cody, but can he get that vital win over MJF or will a further step find itself in Cody’s way (its Arn!).

This has been the best feud that AEW has put on so far, Cody has positioned his-self so well in staying away from the title scene immediately to see how that settles down before getting involved and instead focused on making this feud the best it can be without needed a belt be the focus.

Initially I saw this a clear win for Cody while making MJF a deadly threat at the same time, I then switched to being in the mindset of someone turning on Cody to help MJF win (Arn its you!), then ive gone back to Cody winning again lately in his heroes journey. Its just that the prospect of Arn turning on Cody would be great, Arn has convinced Cody to go through all of the requirements MJF made no matter how tough or degrading but now imagine if Arn screws Cody tonight and it was all for nothing!! All done to embarrass Cody, to show MJF as the mastermind paying off Arn, to move MJF to the world title scene knowing Cody cant follow him.

Honestly lets flip a coin and stick with it.............Cody.......there we have it! Cody wins and moves to a respectful feud with Moxley for the title, while MJF retains his heat by feuding and beating Darby Allin - CODY

The Young Bucks vs Kenny Omega & Adam Page (c) - AEW Tag Team Championship Match

Should be a really fun match with guys comfortable with each other, I expect this to develop differently to how its being built in that I see Kenny getting no joy to begin by being friends with the Bucks then will take Pages approach to really not caring who they are just wanting to beat them.

We really need Omega in the world title scene and to be honest this tag team story is just going to hold him away for longer, we’ll have the tag reign then then titles loss then him and age feuding when they split, that’s going to be afew months still. Dont get me wrong it will provide some great moments and matches, and the most important thing here being them getting Page built to a much higher level.

The Bucks really need the titles soon I just feel they want to get Jericho’s long reign finished first before doing another one, give it another month and I feel they pull the trigger on the title change just not tonight - OMEGA/PAGE

Dustin Rhodes vs Jake Hager

Finally we get to Hager being able to have a match, his MMA contract has seemingly been pretty restrictive for him with them not fancying him losing weekly on tv and become a weaker fighter for them to use on MMA shows.

This has been ok so far, worked the injury angle with Dustin and afew brawls, I really dont think this should go too long and should be fairly easy to predict in Dustin getting a great reaction but ultimately losing to Hager - HAGER

Darby Allin vs Sammy Guevara 

Another well built feud here doing better than the previous match and needing to do so as well, with both guys being less known by the general public its been tough to have them work together and both get over. The inclusion of Sammy into the Inner Circle was vital as without that I dont think this would work just yet. The development of Darby has been good both in getting over his style as well as his character which does still need work but is definitely going in the right direction.

In terms of the winner I think it has to be Sammy, and I feel that due to my thinking that Jericho may take alittle time off and see Sammy as being a winner tonight and trying to step up and take the Jericho spot if he’s away - GUEVARA

Kris Statlander vs Nyla Rose (c) - AEW Women’s Championship Match

The recently crowned champion in Rose defends her title in a match that was delayed recently against Kris, this should develop into more of a bruising match than the title has seen in recent months with Riho as champion. 

I really dont see the need to change this title anytime soon so expect them to have Kris get some good highlights in with her moves and character but ultimately Nyla will retain her crown - ROSE

Pac vs Orange Cassidy

And we have Orange’s first singles match in the company and his big opportunity, and it really is big as he has gotten over the gimmick so far and has the fans behind him but the next big step is carry that over into actual matches and not just spots.

Pac meanwhile just needs the win, nothing else, just the win.

Will be interesting and eye opening - PAC

SCU vs The Dark Order - Pre Show Match

Match wise we’ve probably seen this already once or twice, with the big news being how they move along the angle of Chris Daniels and the Dark Order leadership.

I doubt we get a final answer tonight with this only being on the pre show so I imagine everyone's thinking up ideas of a clever way to tease something but finally not get there just yet. I guess at the Dark Order getting the win with failed help from Daniels leading to SCU thinking he failed to help on purpose - DARK ORDER

Should be a fun show, hopefully the matches dont go too long like they did pre Dynamite, but will provide some great action.

Hopefully over the next few months we get the likes of Lance Archer, Luke Harper and maybe Matt Hardy added to the show, then the challenge will be to get them into the mix in a vital way to improve the brand further.

Fandom: Guardians of the Galaxy Characters: Kraglin Relationship: Kraglin/reader Request: Would you write something for Kraglin from gotg? Like he always brings you little things and its his birthday and you make him something and it leads to the reader confessing somehow but alittle angsty ? AN: I, personally, do a lot of crochet so this is what ive used 😊 Also, this kinda got away from me. You skipped through the halls of the ships, the gift grasped in your hands. You had joined the crew after Yondu hired you because of you hacking skills. You could go unnoticed by many as you silently hacked into their systems and stole their information, money and identity. It was a skill you had used only on your own, until you ran into Yondu at a bar. He said he needed information that only you could get and you agreed to take the job. That was over a year ago and you had never left. Yondu was as surprised as you were by how well you fit into the crew and how much the crew admired and respected you (after having to make an example of one who thought you couldn’t fight). One job lead to another lead to another and you couldnt see it ending any time soon. Not that you wanted it too. You loved it on the ship and you loved your new friends. There was one who stood out though. Right from the start, Kraglin had stolen your heart. He towered over you but never used that height to intimidate you. He often stood up for you and protected you where he could. Because you worked very closely with him and Yondu, the two of you were often up late together and had a very good bond. Something that was only cemented when he would bring you little bits and bobs back from missions. For the most part, you stayed out of missions unless you had to go. But every time, without fail, you would get a knock on your quarters door and he stand there with something held out in his hand. Some times it was a piece of jewellery, sometimes a new item of clothing or a scarf, sometimes a little knickknack. You’d blush but throw you arms around him and thank him. It was sweet. Something about him thinking about you enough to go out of his way to bring you something made your heart beat quickly in your chest. You stopped at his quarters, biting your lower lip as you reached out and knocked on the door. “Who is it?” you heard Kraglin call out, sounding a little exasperated to be bothered but you knew it wasn’t personal. You held the present behind your back. “[y/n].” You replied, giggling when you heard a large thud and you could imagine him scrambling to get to the door. “[y/n]! Whats wrong?” He pulled the door open to show he had discarded his large jacket and only wore a white teeshirt and trousers. “Does something have to be wrong for me to visit my favourite Ravenger on his birthday?” You ask, cocking your head to one side. Kraglin slowly reached for the gift, seemingly unable to believe it was truly for him. He took the soft gift in his hand, admiring the wrapping and how nicely you had written his name on the tag. Not only that, but he noticed you’d signed it “love, [y/n]” which made his heart beat quickly in his chest. He took the small tag off and placed it carefully on the side, wanting to keep it for later. you were nearly bouncing on your toes as he ever so slowly and carefully opened the wrapping to show a dark red handmade scarf. He dropped the wrapping to the ground as he takes the soft scarf in both his hands. “I made it.” You smiled, stepping closer as Kraglin as he looked up at you, his eyes wide. “really?” He said in disbelief. “Yeah, I wanted to find something to thank you for everything you’ve done for me and for all the little gifts you get me. And I crochet in my spare time. So I thought id make you something.” You shrug, a little embarrassed you were admitting your hobby to him. You’d always thought that crochet and knitting was for old ladies and not the sort of hobby you wanted to boast about to the crew. “Thank you.” He smiles and he looks from you to the scarf and you could see a small ting of pink in his cheeks. you adored him. You truly did. It was so hard to put into words how much he brightened up your day, how much you enjoyed his company and how special you felt around him. He truly treated you like you were a queen, something no other man had ever done. A thought popped into your mind and you bit down on your lower lip. “Kraglin?” You almost whisper, drawing his attention to you. “Yeah?” he answered. You gently placed your hands under his and moved them down as you stepped closer. “Happy birthday.” You whispered as you leaned up and pressed you lips to his. Despite the roughness of his stubble, his lips were surprisingly soft, warm and oh so intoxicating. You felt him drop the scarf to the floor as his hands reached for you, gently grabbing your waist and pulling you closer as he kissed you with such passion it made you head spin. your hands reached to rest on his shoulders and you slowly kissed each other, your heart beating hard in your chest. But then he froze under your touch and you pulled back. “You should go.” He suddenly said, not looking at you as he pulled away and turned so his back was to you. “w-what?” you gasped, still breath-taken from that kiss. God, it made your head spin and your knees weak. “Go.” He said in a dejected voice as he kept away from you. “Kraglin.” You spoke in a soft tone despite how hard you heart was breaking. “I-im sorry for kissing you.” you reached out and placed a hand on his shoulder, felling his muscles tense under your touch. Your eyes started to water and you blinked hard to supress the tears that started to slid down your cheek. “im sorry. I-“ you trailed off, unable to bring yourself to say anything else to him as you backed away from him. You’d ruined it. In a brash moment of love, you had ruined the friendship that had existed between you both. Turning on your heel, you fled from the room in tears. ---------------time skip ------------------------- You never saw Kraglin wear the scarf you made him. Even when they went to planets that were frozen or when the heating stopped working on the ship. Never. You always wore thing he brought you. That wasn’t the only thing that broke your heart. Since that night, he had distanced himself from you, barely talking to you unless it was essential. as you walked the fimiluar hallways, hating Yondu. He had told you to go tell Kraglin that he needed some of the items from the last raid checked for value and that Kraglin should look into it before tomorrow. Yondu insisted you go and tell him. But it was late and most the crew were in bed which meant Kraglin should be in his. You had to take deep breaths before you approached and knocked on his door, only to be met with silence. You knocked again and again until you gently called out his name, pushing the door open. You were surprised it was unlocked which meant he was either inside or just had to leave quickly. Stepping into the room, you scan over the furniture, bed and bathroom to see that he wasn’t there. You were about to leave, when your eyes spotted something red pocking out from the black bedding. Stepping closer, you pushed the pillow back to see the scarf you had made Kraglin was under his pillow along with the tag with your writing on it. Kraglin had many hiding places in the room, including a few lose floor board so why would he stuff your scarf and tag under his pillow. Before you could think of anything else, you heard footsteps outside, so you quickly replaced the pillow and darting to the middle of the room just as Kraglin rounded the corner, stopping in his tracks. “I was just looking for you.” he stated. “oh, me too!” you tried to sound happy, to sound like being in the room with him wasn’t killing you. “Why?” He asked, cocking his head to the side a little. “Yondu wanted you to look over some cargo from the last raid and see if theres anything else valuable before tomorrow.” You explained. “Why were you looking for me?” “I-I got you this.” He stuttered, holding out his palm to present you with a beautiful, sparkling bracelet. It was scrunched up in his palm slightly, but you could see the intricate details of the diamonds around the outside. you stepped closer, about to reach out and examine the bracelet when you caught yourself and stepped back. “I cant accept it.” You lowered your eyes, not daring to look at him. Never had you rejected a gift from him. “What? Why?” he asked, his voice filled with panic as he stepped closer to you. “Because, because I-“ You trailed off, unable to look at him. “It doesn’t feel right.” You finally finished. “No, it doesn’t.” he agreed, taking you complete by surprise. “what?” Your voice showed how hurt you were by his words. You assumed he meant what had happened between you two. “You should be kissin’ some duke or some shit. Not making out with a ravanger.” He shook his head, starting to turn away from you, stuffing the bracelet in his pocket. “Excuse me? Im a Ravenger!” You point out. “You really don’t think im part of the crew?” “Nah, nah you’re too pretty.” He shook his head again. “Ravengers don’t get pretty things.” As he spoke, you heard the pure sadness, loneliness and defeat in his voice as he fully turned away from you. “Kraglin-“ You placed your hands on his back, your voice breaking as you processed what he was saying. You leaned your head against his back, closing your eyes as you let a single tear fall from your eyes. You heart was breaking. Did he really feel this way about himself? “you should go.” His voice hit you like a cold wind. He didn’t even move, just stood there as if he had no energy left in him. “Please don’t do this again.” You mumbled, your voice cracking again, but this time, he knew it was from crying. “[y/n], you deserve better.” His voice cracked, making you jump a little. You had never heard him like this. “Kraglin. Stop it!” you tried to sound strong but sounded more like you were pleading or begging him. “is that why you’ve been pushing me away since I kissed you?” You opened your eyes but didn’t move from where you were. It felt a lot easier to not look at him right now. “I aint- I don’t- I-“ He stammered on, seemingly unable to find the right words. Closing your eyes once more, you took a long breath. “I cant help falling in love with you.” You finally confessed in little more than a whisper. You wondered if he even heard but then you felt his whole body tense and he stood bolt up right. You stepped back, opening your eyes so you could look up at him as he twisted around. “Yah-yah love me?” he stammered, his pale blue eyes wide. “Yeah.” Was all you could mumble, looking into his eyes as your heart beat hard in your chest. There was a tense moment where you couldn’t even breath as he stared at you. Then something inside him broke. He darted forward and grabbed your waist. You were pulled against his chest and his lips smashed against yours. Unlike before when the kiss was sweet and somewhat inexperienced, this time it was tense, passionate and heartfelt. you wrapped your arms around his neck, holding him close as you pressed your body against his. Your hands travel up the back of his neck, feeling him shudder slightly at the feeling, and into his hair. Or what little there was on the top of his head. In truth, you just didn’t want him to pull away again. This kiss, like before, was intoxicating and you didn’t know if you could cope with losing him again. Suddenly, you were lifted up. You gasped into the kiss but when you felt his arms securely around you, you wrapped your legs around his torso for support as he pushed you up against the wall. Your gasp broke the kiss but it seemed like Kraglin couldn’t get enough as he instantly moved to your neck, kissing the area. You moaned and tilted your head to the side, encouraging him to continue. “Pretty little thing like you lovin’ someone like me?” He mumbled against your skin and you felt him smile slightly. “I wont care if you were a god or a criminal, I’d still love you.” You breathed, loving how easy this felt. “Good thing. Cause we are criminals.” Kraglin pulled back to look in your eyes. You couldn’t help but laugh, pulling a hand back from him to cover your mouth. It felt so nice to just be with him. Even taking away the kiss and the position you were in, it was nice to have him speaking to you. Your laugher died and you leaned forward to kiss him sweetly. He smiled into the kiss and you could feel his heart was beating just as quickly as yours was in your chest. “I love yah.” His voice was low, nearly a whisper against your lips, making you freeze up. He felt the change and pulled back a little, looking at your eyes with fear. As if he thought you might have hated hearing those words fall from his lips. “Really?” You couldn’t help but ask as you felt a smile pulling at your lips. “’course. Since I first laid eyes on yah.” His lips twitched as a smile came to his lips. You threw yourself forward, feeling the same urge he must have felt when you confessed. You felt like you needed to kiss him more than you needed to breath. And he was more than happy to comply with your silent request. “Stay?” He whispered against your lips, only pulling back to rest his forehead against yours with his eyes closed. He cheeks started to glow a soft shade of blue, making you giggle. “I don’t think I could leave anyway.” You giggled, running your fingers across his cheek. He smiled and leaned back in for a kiss. his eyes snapped open and he pulled back suddenly, glancing at the bed. “Uh, do -do you need to go grab things from your room?” He stuttered, glancing over at his bed then back to you when he heard you giggling. “Why? So you can remove the scarf I made you from under your pillow?” You ask, raising your eyebrow at him slightly but unable to stop the soft giggles. “Ho-how’dya-“ he Sputtered. “I came in and the sleeve was sticking out. I thought id investigate.” You shrug, a little embarrassed at having to admit to finding it but not as embarrassed as he felt. “I thought I’d lost you. It was… it was from you.” Kraglin tried to explain but failed at making it sound any less creepy in his mind. But in yours, you adored the thought that he needed you close, even if it was only a small item from you. “Well, maybe you can put the scarf in your draw and I can replace it.” You lean forward, playful knocking his nose with yours. “You don’t have to make me another scarf.” He frowned a little, confused. “That’s not what I meant.” You winked, biting your lower lip to stop the chuckle escaping your lips as you watched the realisation dawn on him. “Ah.” Was all he said as his cheeks started to burn blue. You smiled, your heart jumping at the sight and you wanted nothing more that to see that colour dawn his cheeks more often. Maybe it happened during sex? You quickly shook the thought as your own cheeks light up red at the thought of Kraglin over you, his cheeks blue and his mouth open in pleasure. “oh! I forgot.” He jumped and placed you down the floor before reaching into his pocket and bringing out the bracelet. You couldn’t help but smile as he took each end in his hands and held it out to you. You raised your right hand and he wrapped it around your wrist, closing it. “I’ll have to get you more pretty things.” You mumbled, your left hand moving so you could run your fingers over the jewellery. “Nah, I get you pretty things, cause you’re my pretty thing.” Kraglin mumbled, leaning forward and kissing your forward. You couldn’t help but smile as you wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him down to your lips. “Why don’t you come back to mine with me? Save’s making two trips.” You ask, not wanting to separate from him for long. “As long as yer in my arms, I don’t care.” He chuckled as he wrapped an arm around you. His pretty little thing.

Mark was sitting on the couch. He had the TV going, but at a low volume. He didn’t want to wake the little borrower sleeping near him. Mark couldn’t stop thinking about what just happened. ’ The poor guy, he was so scared. I know he said people always hurt borrowers and stuff, but.. He just seemed too scared to only be thinking of the possibilities. Did something happen to him before? Am I over thinking this? ’

Mark looks over at Jack. He looked so peaceful, all curled up in a loose ball, his head resting on his arm. ’ Yeah, probably.. And if I’m not, I’m sure he’ll tell me about it once he trusts me.. If he ever trusts me. ’ He thinks. Mark looks over at the cookie, and smiles. ’ Man, the bite marks are so small.. He’s so small. It’s so cute, like the tiny bite marks of a kitten ’ ( No, this is not meant as a way to ship them )

He then turns his attention back to the TV, until he hears a small noise. He looks over, the corners of his mouth dipped down. Jack was tossing and turning, small little whimpers and whines escaping from the back of his throat. He was mumbling.. something. Mark couldn’t tell what.

He reaches his hand over, and gently scoops Jack up. He doesn’t want to wake him unless its absolutely necessary. He starts rubbing Jack’s back with his thumb again. That seemed to calm him down before, and if it doesn’t work, he’ll wake him up. ( I do this with my dog Harley. I’ll wake up to him whimpering and moving all around in his sleep. So I’ll pet his head or back, which calms him down. I also did this with my little sister. )

Mark happily realizes that it’s working. Jack slowly settles down, and once again peacefully sleeps. Mark smiles, and cups Jack against his chest. Jack seems to be reaching for something, or trying to find something. Mark quirks an eyebrow, and with his opposite hand, rests his pointer finger infront of Jack. Jack quickly finds his finger, and grabs on to it. He wraps his arms around Marks finger, and curls around it slightly.

“ Aww.. ” Mark coos quietly. Hey, look, it doesn’t matter how masculine you are, you’d coo to! Mark then looks back to the TV, happily holding the borrower as he reassuringly rubs his back.

-Time skip-

Its been about three hours since the little incident in the kitchen. He let go of his finger after about an hour ago, and Mark would on and off rub Jacks back.

Jack begins to wake up. He shuffles around a bit in Marks hand, and sits up. He rubs at his eyes, a yawn emitting from him. Jack looks around for a moment, his eyes still blurred. When they focus, Jack feels his nerves fire up. Why was he in someones hand? Who’s holding him? Why-

His memories choose then to surface, and once they do Jack feels himself relaxing. He let’s out a sigh of relief, and looks up at Mark.

Mark was looking down at Jack with a big smile. He completely stopped rubbing the borrowers back. Jack really wasn’t helping him get rid of the ’ He’s cute like a kitten ’ thought. Jack smiles back up at him nervously. ’ Hey Mark, um.. Why are ya holdin me? “ he asks, raising an eyebrow a bit.

” Well.. “ Mark says, as he brings up his opposite hand to scratch the back of his head, ” You seemed to have been having a nightmare. I remembered how my rubbing your back seemed to help you calm down earlier, so I scooped ya up and.. Yeah. Here we are

“

Mark doesn’t tell him how he had held on to his finger. He didn’t want to embarrass the poor guy. Jack gives a small nod. ” Oh. Alright. “ After a moment of silence, awkward for the borrower and comfortable for the human, Jack looks up at Mark. He tugs on his sleeve to get the humans attention. Mark looks down at him.

” Can you put me down..? “ Jack asks, a bit of hesitancy in his tone. Mark smiles, and with a nod, sets his hand on the couch. He tilts his hand, which lets Jack slide off his hand. ” Imma make some food, OK? “ Mark asks. Jack gives a nod. He feels hope that Mark will give him food as well, but he quickly squishes it out. He was lucky that Mark hasn’t killed him, even let him eat a bit of his cookie. He shouldn’t- ” Do you want any? I mean, all I’d have to do is take a bit of my own food, so. “

Jack’s eyes widen in surprise, and he looks up at Mark. He gives a small nod. ” Um, yeah, yes, please. “ Jack says, and smiles. Mark smiles back. ” Alright, I’ll be right back Jack. “ Mark says, and smiles bigger. ” That rymed! “ He says, as he fists pumps. Jack chuckles, and sits down criss-cross-apple-sauce. Mark does to the kitchen

-Marks pov-

Mark starts up the stove, and pulls out ingredients to make some home made pancakes. Cause who doesnt like pancakes? He goes to the fridge, planning on pulling out some bacon, when something catches his attention out of the corner of his eye. In confusion, Mark turns to the object. He picks it up, and inspects it. It was a tiny backpack.

’ This must be Jack’s. ’ Mark thinks. After a quick once over of the counter, he sees Jack’s makeshift graveling hook. He picks it up by the hook. Mark then sets all Jack’s stuff in his pocket, and goes back to the fridge, cause he didn’t forget about that bacon.

-Time skip-

Mark walks back to the living room. He’s carrying his plate, along with a bottle cap with bits of bacon and pancakes for Jack

” Hey Jack, I got us some-OH MY GOSH! “ Mark says, as he sees Jack dangling off the side table by the couch. Mark quickly drops the food on the table, and sprints over to Jack. He puts his hand under Jack, quickly picking him up. He gently pinches Jack’s hand between his fingers, inspecting the little burrower.

When he was content in knowing Jack was alright, he sighs in relief.

” Jack, what the heck were you doing? You could have fallen and gotten hurt! “ Mark says, sterness and frustration in his tone. He wasn’t mad at Jack, just concerned.. But Jack didn’t see it that way, because why would anyone be concerned for him? Atleast, that’s what Jack thought.

Jack hadn’t meant to make Mark mad, he just got curious when he saw something he couldn’t make out on the side table, but he lost his balance. But now Marks mad at Jack. Now he wont let Jack eat, he won’t be nice and he’ll be mean just like the last lady, because why would it be any different?

Jack flinches, and curls in on himself. His whole body shakes. Although, Mark doesnt notice just yet. ” You should have waited! What if you had fallen and I’d stepped on you?! “ Jack whimpers at at Marks words, tears slipping down his cheeks. Mark’s right. He’s so stupid, he should have waited, just like Mark said.

” You have to be more careful! Or next ti- “ Jack had stopped being able to hear him, and let out a heart wrenching wail. His mind was plagued with fears and scenarious he thought would happen. He didn’t want to be hurt again!

Mark pauses in his scolding, his eyes widening in shock. Jack was crying loudly, trembling and shaking his head back and forth quickly. ” Im sor- Im sorry! I didn’t mean to-to! I saw somthin and-and I wanted to know wha-what it was and lost my balance-ance and-and- “ Jack gets interrupted by another sob. ” I didn’t mean to make ya mad! It was stu-stupid and I’m sorry, just please don be mad- don hurt- “

Jack cries interrupt him once more, and he just stops trying. He won’t get out of this. Of course he’d still hurt him, he deserves it. It’ll be just like it was with that mean lady, always getting hurt and punished over him doing stupid things, and he deserves it because he’s an idiot.

While these thoughts kept flying threw Jacks head, drilled in from living at that horrible womans house and being her ’ pet ’, Marks heart felt like it was being crushed by a boulder. His chest had felt like it was sinking throughout Jacks whole speech, and gosh was his heart wrenched. He didn’t know what to do for the little borriwer in his hand, who was tugging at the hem of his own shirt, whimpering and tucking himself into himself.

Mark goes to rub his back, but hesitates. What if he scares him more than he already has? Although, when another tear jerking sob escapes the poor Irish borrower, Mark makes up his mind. He sits down, and sets a pillow in his lab. He sets the hand holding Jack down on the pillow, and reaches over to grab the cookie. That seemed to comfort Jack before.

Mark slowly, tentatively, stretches his thumb over to slowly, gently rub Jacks back. He feels Jack stiffen, flinch, then sob louder. Mark cringes at this, he doesn’t want Jack to be scared. But he had to prove he wasn’t going to hurt him..

Mark gently puts Jack on the pillow, good. That helped a bit. ” Jack, Jack, please listen. Im not mad, Im not mad, I was just concerned. Just scared. I don’t want you to get hurt. It scared me seeing you hanging there, but I didn’t mean to scare you. Im not going to hurt you, OK? Its OK, it’s OK I promise. “

Mark goes into mumbling quiet reassurances. It takes awhile, an hour actually, but it happens. Mark had kept up his rubbing, his reassurances. The cookie was near by, and their lunch ( of pancakes and bacon, yes yes, I know ) was cold, but Jack was calming down.

” I.. I really am sorry .. It wa- “ ” No, Jack, stop. I overreacted because I was scared, don’t apologize.. “ Mark says. He grabs the little bottle cap full of lunch ( brunch? ), and sets it by Jack. He knudges the cookie closer to Jack. ” Go on now, eat. The food is a bit.. Cold.. But it’s food right? “ Mark asks. Jack nods, and slowly reaches for his food.

What a great way to start lunch
