ok i was thinking about this last night when i couldn't sleep but it's crazy how buck's filled the roles for so many people in his life who have lost someone who used to fill that role. like bobby lost his kids, now buck's like a son to him. chimney lost his pseudo-brother, and now buck's practically his brother-in-law. eddie lost his wife, now he has buck as a partner and best friend. chris lost a parent, now buck is chris's godfather. maddie lost her brother, then with buck born at least she still had him. this next episode is literally gonna break these characters i can see it now

God dude these two scenes and how roxie moves hurt my heart so so bad 🥹
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it's like a mix of anger, feral, emotional breakdown, and complete sadness that just fucks me up soooo fucking bad.
it's like she's a pet who got abandoned by their owner but they see them again after years of sadness and depression of them being gone and leaving them like that and all that anger and sadness just manifest's into one bundle of emotion's towards them they cannot control.
roxie baby ur gonna be okay u deserve better :[

Still emotional about Fy'ra Rai and Opal, actually. Thought dump time bc i. dont have the energy to cut this down effectively.
Because at that point in the episode, Opal is doomed. Not in the fun little "oh things are getting worse ;)" kind of way we'd been experiencing leading up to the fight, or even IN the fight. At that point in the fight, Cyrus is dead. Dorian and Dariax have their minds twisted, bodies clambering away from the fight. Morrighan has felt, firsthand, just how far gone Opal is, holes in her mind, her friend broken. The heartbreaking sentence of. "You can always come back." understands that she is gone already. She's lost already. Opal has forgotten Ted. Opal has forgotten herself.
So at that point in the fight, we know Opal is doomed. Us as the audience, the cast, the characters. Aabria is running through each of the other crownkeepers and it is more of a goodbye than a round of combat. Defying the Spider Queen invites death, with zero hesitation- Cyrus's body as physical evidence of that. The terms were very clearly set: You leave Opal, you let her be lost. Or you die. (Leaving Opal anyway).
and Fy'ra Rai then. Grasps the crown, understands intimately that she can break it off and it will kill Opal. (I will free you, if you want me to. We would lose you but you would not be taken). And asks, what do you want me to do. What do you want.
and Opal says, I want you to leave. (I want you to live.) and Fy'ra Rai functionally says. No. Sorry. That's not one of the options.
If you wanted to go. I will do that (your blood on my hands). If you want me to stay, I will. But I'm not going to leave you.
There was the point where Fy'ra Rai broke into the communication and I felt my insides sink because. Look. Lets be real, Aabria had already demonstrated the stakes here. The gesture would not be rewarded for the gesture alone. The Spider Queen's terms were: You leave Opal. Or you die.
And Fy'ra Rai said: no.
I don't think I'm overstepping to assume that if Fy'ra Rai had failed the intimidation check, she would have died. This entire thing hits me so hard because I think Anjali knew that too. I think Fy'ra Rai knew that too. Yes, Fy'ra Rai convinced a Betrayer God to negotiate. She carved a third option out of a non-negotiable situation. She knew what would happen if she failed and did it anyway, with no fear, no regret, no waver in her resolve. She had lost enough sisters. She wasn't going to lose anymore, no matter the personal cost. That's part of why it succeeded, I'm sure, but.
Just. Fuck me. The amount of resolve. The amount of love. The amount of conviction. "I am. A protector." You know your friend- your sister- is doomed. So no more negotiating away from that. You step to her side and you grasp her hand and say- doom me with her.
And in some, sideways way, this saves you both, at least for a little while.
Because this story is a tragedy. This ending is a sad one. We know this already. But think about- Opal, under Lolth's bidding, alone in the dark. Think about Fy'ra Rai, alive, intimately aware that she had failed to protect yet another sister.
And think about what we got, instead: the two of them, in deep darkness, danger encroaching- holding hands. Someone they love at their side. A champion. And her champion.
This is still a sad story. But it's not the same one. Fy'ra Rai stared down a Betrayer God and made her change her mind. She stared down a Betrayer God, and her love and conviction changed the nature of the story. It shouldn't have been able to. But she did.
Fy'ra Rai chose to doom 2 people instead of one, and the sheer strength of her love and will managed to save them both, at least for a little while. Isn't it funny how that works? Isn't it devastating? Isn't it. fucking incredible?

the quiet tragedy of verin being the one who never quite made it out.
for most of their lives, essek was the one who was entrenched in expectations, in the politics of their den. while verin was stationed far from the heart of the dynasty, ostensibly free from the eyes of his elders, essek was sitting beside their mother in court and speaking before the queen. and it made sense, because essek had always been better at all of it — the posturing, the sweet-talking, the ladder-climbing. his brother the black sleep was still his brother the prodigy; his brother the heretic was still his brother the shadowhand.
but then, essek meets new people and they get through to him and change him and make him softer, make him better (and why them? what is it about them, that they could do what verin never could?) and he runs. he gives up the title and the status and the power and leaves it all (leaves verin) behind.
suddenly, verin is the lone newsoul of den thelyss, the one with all eyes on him, with the expectations meant for two brothers falling squarely on his shoulders and only his in the absence of their other target. he is still the youngest of his den, the one they all watch and wait to be disappointed by, but there is no one to share that burden with anymore and all at once it becomes painfully clear that distance never really was freedom.
essek has a family, then — not a den but a family, with love and trust and care and warmth and all the things essek once called verin childish for craving — and a welcoming home to go to with someone who loves him waiting there and a garden in the front yard, and verin is left still fighting demons under the banner of a god (of a family, of a home) he only half-believes in.
and maybe they see each other more often then. maybe bazzoxan is remote enough that it’s safe for essek to visit in disguise. maybe essek’s friends come too and are kind enough to offer a taste of what essek has now and verin can almost believe it’s his too. maybe essek doesn’t even fight it anymore when verin insists on hugging him. but how much can that really fix? how much can it really change?
an unloved man leaves no one behind when he finally makes a better life for himself, but essek was never an unloved man. not really.

MAJOR TF:ONE SPOILERS
just. hhhough something about orion pax being called selfish or self-serving by d-16 when pretty much the entire movie is him trying to find a way to lift up and empower others. he didn't want to find the matrix for his personal glory, he wanted to find it to bring the energon back. to save him and his brother and his friends from a lifetime of backbreaking labor and discrimination and mistreatment. and then when they find a clue, he offers to let dee be the one to give the matrix to sentinel. it's played as him being a sneaky little sonnuva- until a little later, when we see him talking to dee and smiling and asking him how he thinks sentinel will react when dee hands the matrix back. if it had been a ploy just to get him to come along, would orion have brought it up like that again? in the middle of breaking and entering, and running from the literal cops, orion finds the time to grab a megatronus prime sticker for dee because he knows that megatronus prime is dee's favorite. and it would make him happy. when darkwing demotes elita, after his breach of protocol, he FLIPS THE ENFORCER OFF because it's wrong that elita was punished for what he did. and he knows that. he tries to apologize later in the film because he acknowledges that it's his fault, even if it was to save a mech's life. in the race, when dee gets hurt, orion could have kept going and won the race for the miners- instead he goes back. he gets dee and helps him across the finish line, because it's not just about him. it's about every other miner too. it's them, together, proving that miners are more than meets the eye. he could have run the race alone and left dee out of it, but he didn't want to leave his best friend out. he didn't want to do it alone. he tries so so hard to snap dee out of his funk, because he's worried about dee. and in the cave of the Primes dee calls him selfish says that he does what interests him without thinking of protocol or any other mech other than himself, and then he leaves dee to clean up the mess. and just. idk something about orion trying so so hard to help and lift up other mechs and then being told to his face that he's selfish. idc if it's said in anger or if orion forgave dee that had to hurt. and then you have a heel-turn because at the end of the movie? sentinel's hurt dee/megatron. he ripped his cog out of his chest before he had the chance to live with it. he trapped him in work and mines and made it impossible to climb out of that. sentinel crippled dee before he was even born, and that's why dee wants to kill him. he calls it justice, for everything sentinel's done. but at the same time. sentinel's ruined dee's life. he's also ruined orion's. and elita's. and bee's. and jazz's and ironhide's and prowl's and arcee's and so so many other cogless mechs'. he's ruined the lives of an entire generation of people. and megatron decides that he is the only one who can enact justice. megatron decides that his revenge is more important than justice for every single mech that sentinel's hurt. megatron decides that his revenge is worth more than orion's life. and that decision is the single most selfish decision made in the runtime of the movie.

Watching Larxene’s cutscene and taking in how Sora thinks about Naminé, in this scene and everything before, and I’m putting a Soriku twist on it.
Concept of KH 4 Sora losing his memories and he doesn’t understand what the crown necklace he wears is. He’s constantly wearing it, feeling the need to NEVER let it out of his sight, but he cannot remember why it’s so important or who gave it to him. He tries so hard to recall, but he can’t. Yet when he thinks about taking it off or some people mention it, he argues about it. He says it’s too important and that…he just can’t take it off or lose it.
But sometimes when he thinks really hard, he gets an image in his mind. A man. A man with silver hair looking at him sadly. He wants to wipe that sad look off of his face and make him smile instead, make him look happy. But he doesn’t understand why. Why does he care for this man? He can’t even remember his name! He goes through the KH 4 plot trying to remember the man’s name and others he sees in his mind! But mainly the man. And sometimes in dreams, he sees flashes of memories. The more he digs in his mind, the more he finds.
All but his name and where this necklace came from.
And then Riku finds him, and it’s a lot. Sora feels a pressure in his chest when he sees him and his head feels heavy. He then realizes he looks just like the man in his head! He asks his name, desperate to know, and it’s Riku.
Riku’s here.
And then the whole breakdown happens which throws Sora off. Riku does the “I looked for you. I looked everywhere for you!” and crying like Sora did and such. Sora doesn’t understand and it hurts him because WHY DOESN’T HE REMEMBER??? If this man cares this much for Sora, then they must have a close relationship!! And Sora feels a little bit of it!!! So why!! CANT HE REMEMBER??? I imagine it would basically bother him until he gets his memories back bc he can see the way Riku looks at him, feels emotions towards him but doesn’t know why, and the necklace!!! The necklace is still in his head like WHY???
And maybe, just maybe, Riku would tell him about it and how he gave it to him and talk about the meteor shower and something something that makes his memory come back bc it’s one that’s been pushed down and into the back of his mind but Riku finally fishes it back for him and it’s so important that it brings things back. He helps him find that memory again and get his memory back and yada yada confessions are made and things somehow end okay :).

haunted by the narrative? haunted by the fact that he rarely shows up in the narrative, he kicks ass, he's cool, he's pretty, he's capable, he could solve a 5 episode arc in 1, everybody loves him, he changes everything with his little appearances, and yet we don't know anything about his fate?????

hear me out, post-divorce girl!Dad Crowley
im not even kidding you guys, the best thing for Crowley after all this is just for him to be a girl Dad. Go find himself the weirdest most unhinged least likely up for adoption daughter to dump all his love onto. One who thinks snakes are awesome and who screeches happily when Crowley drives too fast and who thinks her Dad's the absolute coolest person on or off earth. She'll constantly be stealing his sunglasses or demanding her own pair so they match. No doubt she's obsessed with fungus and she probably draws the most fucked up stuff that Crowley then hangs around the flat, and she'll yell at the plants too with her hands on her hips. On nights after goofy dinners, Crowley will hoist her up on his shoulders and help her accurately place the glow-in-the-dark stars on her ceiling and softly answer every question she ever has. And it won't even phase her when sometimes her Dad is her Mom or her Parent for a while or vice versa. And she'll be ready to full on throw hands with anyone who gives her Dad sad-face. She probably ends up biting Aziraphale when he eventually staggers back into the picture, and the Angel will have to contend with the fury of a real hellion for a while before she trusts him enough to let him anywhere near Crowley. Also i think her name should be Hanna.
