didn’t go back to manchester after his family died, too many foul memories—a lot of friends will probably know him as a murderer (comic reference, ghost was accused of killing his family in the newspaper)

has a fit body. a lot of people like to hc him as big and bulky, i think otherwise! its actually a huge disadvantage to be bulky in size as a soldier (logistics while fighting yk). most SAS soldiers are trained for endurance and fitness, i think he has a moreso lean body

hes not cold and ruthless, wouldn’t say hes a big softie either.

VERYYYY punctual. always on time

will not abuse or rape anyone. this guys been through atrocities, he would never do it to someone else

won’t hire a prostitute, ever.

honestly, hes just another dude in the military. he loves dad jokes and bourbon😭

He would love your whole aesthetic and vibe so much cause he's used to either old fuckers who are boring as fuck  or really bland people who don't do much around. He needs someone energetic and full of life to make him feel less dead inside you know? He would love to listen to everything you want to talk about or to do fun inside activities together. Brahms strictness with rules would be really helpful with the whole skipping meals things, he would remind you to always eat or would convince you to eat with him. I don't  know how good he could do to you about the sugar addiction but at least he would never let you starve so that's a win to me.

i forgot to add: how do design ????!?!??????

So I’m not expert but this is how I think of character design! (also sry if you were asking about clothing/outfit design thats a little different)

under the cut because this is long im so sorry

So in my opinion there are three really important aspects for character design!

AESTHETIC: obviously everybody’s aesthetic is different, but this is more about what vibe the character has, what makes them THEM design wise. 

INTENTION: who is the character supposed to be? this can range from their personality, their back story, their occupation, or their role in the story, but the design need to fit that intention.

COHESION: does the design go well together? or do certain aspects clash too much? obviously you can have disjointed parts of a character design, and if those serve a purpose then thats fine, but if its so disjointed its distracting from the character as a whole you might need to tweak things. 

AESTHETIC: the contrasting part of the design (white flowers in dark hair, dark trim on dress, and dark shoes) provide interest to the eye. The mixing of round and sharp shapes also keeps the design from feeling “boring” even though its relatively simple. 

INTENTION: so what role would this little doodle character have? according to her design elements, shes cute and friendly with her round shapes (bouncy balls, babies, etc), but could have a sharp/fast/active or even dangerous edge to her with the triangles (arrows, knives etc). of course the design doesn’t limit her possible roles. She could be a bubbly younger sister who teases the older protagonist, or maybe she’s the villain hiding in plain sight. the shape this character design doesn’t really have is squares(think bricks and rocks), which communicates that she might not be really strong, steady, or reliable. 

COHESION: repeating the curves across her whole design builds cohesion, it communicates that “yes, these are all part of the same character”, it also allows the eye to “rest” on a familiar shape or line. 

NOW LETS LOOK AT SOME DESIGNS

(Boku no Hero Academia) so both of these characters are super heroes, but have vastly different design elements. so lets analyze them.

OCHAKO(the pink one) is all rounds, with a few pointed shapes in hair mostly, but a little on her costume as well. Her personality is cute, bubbly, and friendly which perfectly suits her soft and bouncy design. Howevre she also has a very slight edge to her, which is seen her determination and drive to improve herself over the course of the anime. 

KIRISHIMA(the red one) at first glance, seems to be super pointy!! shapes that are usually seen on villains or really dangerous characters, but while he IS sharp(literally sometimes) and sometimes aggressive, he is also made of squares, which perfectly suits his loyal “i gotchu bro” attitude towards most of the other characters in the anime.  

ISSUE AREAS: so the only problems i have with Ochako and Kirishima’s designs is that their costumes each have one area that clashes a little too much for my taste. With Ochako, the belt over the color blocking stripes down her crotch are......questionable taste wise. I think the design would be better if the pink chest ended above the belt in a shallow v. not only would this mirror the triangle aspects of her hair, it would fit the belt outline, and continue the trend her costume has of being “grounded” or “heavy”. Kirishima has those.... gears??? around his shoulders??? and while the gear teeth are technically squares, the gear shape itself is a circle, which is a shape that isn’t present anywhere else in his design. I think changing the gears to something similar to his boots or his mask/headgear would create a more cohesive design(also the gears just look hard to move in)

These two characters are presented as individuals so their costumes don’t have to match at all even though they are still seen as “connected” because of the art style for the face, hair, and body. 

In a group giving the outfits cohesive motifs is an easy way to present a strong team image! In Yuki Yuna is a Hero, the girls all have colored lines(usually princess seam placement), armor or fabric hip accents, covered arms, and similar flower shapes in their hair. The Aesthetic of each girl is strong in a monochrome signature color, but not over whelming as the black+white connects them even in color so they aren’t out of place. 

Speaking of color! if your characters are all similar looking (like same body for all of them) you can communicate their personality and aesthetic just with color! (only gonna talk about a few of the ponies) Pinkie Pie (the really pink one) is energetic and playful, so her color scheme is a variation of the primary colors(happy, child like), and have one of the more saturated colors(high energy, intense) of these characters in a large quantity. Apple Jack (the orange one) is a down to earth farm girl, and her color palette is accordingly, mostly earth tones, its also warm analogous colors, which makes her appear un-complicated and warm personality wise. the pop of red is a nice touch to add interest, but notice that its uses sparingly in her cutie mark and tail accessory. Rarity on the other hand is elegant and fussy, her high contrast scheme of white and dark blue/purples gives her more visual interest and is something that makes her appear more “complex” in addition to the gradient thats included in her hair. the colors are also all cool colors, bringing to mind cool glass or water which both have connotations of grace and beauty.

however all the characters here are unified by their colors being on the pastel side, which is also important for a cohesive cast.

another, short, note on color; making the color/line/shading of your figure different from the background can help them stand out, this is used ESPECIALLY in children’s media, but can be applied to any illustration or animation as needed.

Color can also help your characters “read” quickly on screen, the powerpuff girls are a prime example, of having a distinct color blocking and silhouette. even the color blobs at the top and my crappy hand silhouettes STILL read as the characters despite being broken down into abstract elements. I also really enjoy the thick outline in the powerpuff girls, it really makes the characters pop to the foreground even though they have pretty simple designs and are often in a colorful setting.

Also, for a lot of animation, silhouette is INCREDIBLY important for your characters, some designers sketch silhouettes and then design the particulars its so important to nail the shape. These examples from Coraline are some of my favorites (though Laika wins in my heart every time no matter what lmao) because the simple shapes are SO CLEAR and indicative of the character, you literally don’t need to have watched the movie to know these are each different characters with different personalities and roles. 

silhouette can also help tell the story. In Kubo and the two strings (another Laika film) the above three characters are sisters. One has chosen to leave her home in the heavens to live on earth, and the other two stay in their roles as “heavenly” warriors. This is even shown through their designs, the two sisters are weighted on top and their cloaks don’t even touch the ground, while the first woman has trailing, heavy sleeves, hair, and robes all grounding her and emphasizing her connection with the earth.

another example of shape/silhouette reflecting the story, In The Croods, the family of cavemen are for the most part very top heavy, with large torsos and arms, usually in a more hunched over position, while the newcomer, Guy, is bottom heavy with thin arms and stands more upright. In the plot, the family represents the old ways, the strength and rules that have helped them survive, they look like very stereotypical “cavemen”, while Guy resembles the modern man, and appropriately is associated with new ideas and forward thinking.

MORE SHAPES, in DC super hero girls each girl has a distinct personality emulated by her shape language. Zatana is dramatic curves and edges, Super girl is hard, straight edges against curves, giving her a solid muscular shape. Wonder Woman, though also strong, is taller and leaner, lending to a confident leader type. Green Lantern is slim, her lines all flow into each other giving her a go with the flow look. Bumble Bee is, of course, tiny, but her boots and gauntlets add weight and strength to her otherwise small frame. Batgirl is lanky and has a lot of pointed style lines, reminding the viewer of a skinny cat (ironic what with cat woman i know) or weasel which mirrors her preferred “sneaky” crime fighting style.  (also yes this was just an excuse for me to gush abt how much i love the dcshg designs shut up)

so in my opinion, Cartoon Saloon’s The Secret of Kells is PERFECT in aesthetic, intention, and cohesion. Kells focuses very strongly on creating silhouette WITHIN the larger figure shape via color and line, most of the characters pictured here have no neck, the one who does, Brendan, is the main character and the use of negative space that cuts into his shape is used to draw attention to him. Kells is also very strongly inspired by Medieval Illuminated manuscripts (namely, the book of kells lmao). The characters still manage to stand out against outrageously detailed backgrounds via their simple shapes and strong color blocking. 

Aisling, a secondary but very important character, is not human, and has a totally different shape language from the rest of the characters. She is thin and pointy, while most of the others are round or square. so it's nice sometimes to forget about your older siblings and be your own person at your middle school

you make sure to join multiple activities so you're always busy after school and get to skip your siblings telling your parents about their day

you do care about them, but it feels like they get all the attention at home

Lev has been begging you to go to one of his games for months now. seriously, he won't shut up about it

no matter how many times they ask, you always find an excuse not to go whether it be a test, homework, or even detention

finally you feel bad enough for both of them that you agree to go to one of Lev's games

at the game, you're sitting off to the side of the Shiratorizawa section to avoid the crowd

when you see that shirabu is starting as setter you can't help but roll your eyes

you wonder why tendou even bothered inviting you if your brother is just gonna warm the bench all game

you're very pissed by the time Eita finally gets put in the game to serve

you really want him to do well

and then he gets a service ace and you cheer for him

Eita still doesn't see you

which is fine with you since you're not sure what you'd even say to him if he asked you about it

he scores another service ace and you clap again

but then on his third he serves the other team receives it and sets up an attack that shirabu is forced to receive

Eita gets to set, so he sends it to Goshiki because everyone was paying attention to Ushijima and he thought that was a better move

goshiki gets blocked and the libero can't get to it in time

maybe shirabu was just having a bad day, but he says something to your brother that makes some of the guys laugh, tendou has to be held back by Eita, who looks absolutely numb

Eita is starting to walk back to the bench and shirabu the greasy fucker looks so pleased with himself

naturally you shout "that's my big brother you asshole! Watch it!" before you can think better of it

Semi does the surprised Pikachu face because he didn't know you cared enough to come to his game

i think that having an older brother who wants to take care of his little sibling makes you shy because your brother has always taken care of everything

you were planning on becoming a manager for the boys volleyball club your first year (his third)

but at the insistence of your parents you found another club to your liking

they're worried you two are codependent and they don't want you to be hurt when Tetsurou leaves for University

since you don't spend much time with the volleyball team, you're not used to just how loud they are and frankly, it's overwhelming

so you try your best not to hang around them even though you wouldn't mind eating lunch with your brother or walking home with him if it weren't for the persistently obnoxious teenage boys he chooses to surround himself with

* so they bring them to the Metahuman Youth Center where they can chill as Miss M works with the kids to recover their memories one at a time.

* None of the kids remember their own names, so they’re given nicknames instead. Mas y Menos are named for the plus and minus signs they have on their tshirts, respectively. Amongst the others include: future-to-be-Teen Lantern (Jessica Cruz), Flamebird (Mary Kane), and Empress (Anita Fite)

* The episode’s subplots can focus on different members of the team chilling with different meta-teens and developing bonds and helping them cope with their powers by setting good examples and inspiring them to do good (Vic and Static chill with Anita, Jaime and Traci chill with Jessica, and Cassie and Tim hang out with Mary), but for the sake of simplicity im gonna stick to the bartuardo subplot only lmao maybe ill think of the others later

* Most of the kids aren’t really feeling the aster due to the amnesia and foreign setting, but Mas y Menos in contrast are excited and zipping around and creating a mess and giving the Youth Center employees a headache. Ed enlists Bart’s help, because keeping up with two energetic, super-speed kids is taxing- even for a teleporter like him.

* Upon seeing Bart, Mas y Menos are awestruck; their memories are still fuzzy, but they do remember seeing Kid Flash on the news in TVs outside electronics stores in Guatemala, and they consider him their idol for their similar abilities.

* Bart doesn’t mind helping out, of course. He has plenty of experience chasing around speedsters- he does it all the time with Don and Dawn.

* He races with them around the youth center in a good-old game of tag  in which he purposefully slows down often to keep the pair entertained.

* Bart catches his breath in the kitchen area and Ed hands him a cup of water. Ed mentions that he noticed Bart is especially good with kids, and apologizes for dragging him into this mess. Bart assures Ed that he doesn’t mind one bit and also casually mentions that in the future, he was often the one bringing the mood up especially with the younger kids so they wouldn’t be stuck feeling the mode all the time- and he knows Mas and Menos have been through a lot. Besides, crashing the mode is always better and he likes the two a lot.

* Ed tells Bart that he thinks he’s really crash, and the two have a moment ~staring into each other’s eyes~ (cue slow burn romantic pining)

* And then Mas y Menos ruin the moment by zooming into the kitchen so fast they break a few plates. Bart zooms off to chase after them as Ed looks fondly in his direction.

* Later, Miss M is finally able to restore Mas y Menos’ memory, but is saddened to learn of their past. It turns out Mas y Menos weren’t bogged down in homesickness like the other kids because they subconsciously had no real desire to stay in Guatemala. Their parents passed away a long time ago and unable to find family to take them in, the two were surviving off the streets in Guatemala when they were kidnapped by traffickers.

* Mas y Menos are feeling traught, but Ed ensures them that they are welcome to stay with him and chill at the Youth Center until they can arrange something else for them. They gladly accept, and are excited at the prospects of chilling with Kid Flash more. (Ed: “You guys can stay with me. We’ll help you settle in, maybe even make some more friends.” Mas: “But me and Menos have each other.” Ed: “Yeah, but you can make new friends now! Friends that’ll have your back.” Menos: “Like you and Kid Flash?” Ed: *internal anguish* “y-yea”)

* And that will be the start of them realizing that they’re more than BEST FRENS and then there will be a few more episodes of pining before they officially become a thing and live happily ever after

Aries - 

Are very laid back, contrary to the belief (i.e. ppl thinking that they’re hard to get along with/hard to please). Most Aries don’t think they’re the shit. 

Unless they have something they’ve worked super hard on (and see it as something they can help others with) they won’t bother with pointing out something you can’t change/they can’t change– but will try to help you as much as they can (like, trouble-shooting, planning it out, suggesting things you can do to help yourself depending on what you want/feel comfortable with doing). 

They try very very hard to be there for others, even when their efforts aren’t appreciated enough sometimes. People think fire signs are energetic and crass with people’s feelings  — they’re not, they do care.

Taurus - 

Most of the time despite being Venus-ruled they might not even think they’re particularly beautiful or charming. What they do know is that they gotta do the things they can do, the things they want/have to do and that’s what they’re focused on.

Not questioned by others  (like ‘why are you so wishy washy? you said this to me and now you’re doing another??’) – despite being a Mercurial sign, they often understand the situation better (internally) than how they’re communicating it (out-loud). Thus, when they make up their mind about something— trust them that they can do it.

They also aren’t ‘two-faced’ or whatever people call it. They have an internal process that suffers if they don’t know how to work with it healthily/balance it well (internal/external). But ‘two-faced’ was never a part of their personality.

Cancer - 

Whoever says they’re crybabies have never met a Cancer in public. And whoever said ‘Cancers are Mothers’ never had a mum who’s a Cancer in the first place. 

Cancer can be strength through sufferings, they’re vulnerable and hard. Cancers aren’t your mothers, within their own self they have their own problems to shift through (thus why, being a Cancer doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll be great mothers– they have to go through the same trials/experience as everyone else– and sometimes, because they’re so stubborn, it might even be the most challenging thing to a Cancer native)

You’d think they’ll be emotional since they’re a water sign but they’re not (**at least not constantly) Some Cancers are less emotional than fire-signs. Respect that, respect their strength and charisma. Don’t ‘type’ them into a box and tell them what they want/don’t want in their life– let them make those choices themselves.

Leo -

Aren’t ‘natural’ leaders, most don’t even volunteer for leadership positions until they’re filled with personal pettiness/dissatisfaction about something they have to make the changes  (like use a platform to vent out their rage about it).

Again, some aren’t even extroverted. But they do what they gotta do and people think ‘oh they must enjoy this!!’ and keep piling them up on something when they’d rather be asked – who they are, what they want, what they like/dislike and be listened to instead of assumed about.

Taking care of a Leo isn’t just about listening to them, it’s about letting them have their own space. Letting them rest, be alone, play some games. It’s having security of their own time/what they want to be doing with said time that makes them truly Leo. 

Virgos - 

They’re not very good at telling people they care ‘no’, which is why they’re so so careful to say all their ‘nos’ to others (they aren’t close to yet) beforehand. 

The thing about Virgos being clean-freak? Only applicable to a handful of people (and only within certain contexts only). Cleaning is still a chore. Especially if they have mental/emotional depression to go through and they know they’re procrastinating those (in which case, it becomes an escape mechanism instead). Don’t use them as your maids, and don’t rely on them to be available to solving your problems/being in your service 24 hours either. Because if they care about you, they’re going to have a hard time saying no even if it’s really really pushing their limits already.  

Virgos have a lot of internal emotional distress to go through as well, and if they don’t process those they’re going to be in bad shape later. Think they’re un-emotional/super smart? Think again. They struggle daily with their internal emotions and working hard enough to pass their own expectations of themselves. Do people even know how hard it is to be in emotional distress at a drop of a pin sometimes? Waking up in cold sweat/not being able to sleep because you remembered something embarrassing 10 years ago? 

Libra - 

Not all Libras are romantically inclined. In fact, why do we think people are romantically inclined at all? 

Native Libras don’t have to say yes to those who asks them out. It’s not going to be like ‘ohhh!! I’m going make this the perfect relationship!!’. No! who even has that kind of energy?! (especially when you have to consider the other person pulling their part, can they do it? will they even do it?) 

Even if they’re interested, there’s a bigger narrative to think about and Libras aren’t fools to that. All those things about Libra being the watery-air sign? Maybe we should consider that Libras are also much more analytical than we realize sometime in 2k19 as well. (And give them their independence credit they deserve ffs, they manage to swerve this many suitors for how long?)   

Scorpio - 

Isn’t anyone’s sexual demon. They aren’t there for other’s fantasy of ‘an active sex life’. Scorpio’s are so much more than their sexual parts and maybe um?? they’re their own person??

The thing about Scorpio being mysterious is gonna be used against them one day to sexualize/objectify them to other people’s benefit. Why don’t you get to know one? Why don’t we ask what the hell they’re thinking sometimes? (and trust, a Scorpio would probably appreciate being asked/called out for it and being able to tell/talk to someone rather than –y know, being misunderstood all the time. If the confrontation is genuine and the other really do want to get to know the Scorpio’s side of the story/not going to cut them down half-way through just to invalidate them.) 

Scorpio’s not the one who has a problem, it’s others who has a problem with them. Do we just not trust the Scorpios?? Why the hell not?? Humour is their biggest joy/connector to people impersonally. And did you know that– Capricorn likes to be adorable/be adored for some reason?? (no it’s not just about admiration, it’s also about adoration) All those things you think Gemini/Sagittarius would be— it’s actually just Capricorn trait in disguise (until you get to know them). 

Aquarius - 

Not so detached as you THINK they are. Honestly they’re one of the most caring people who would push for you when you can’t push for yourself??Literally angels on this earth, because even when they’re going through some seriously tough shit/personal injustice they work through it and recover like it’s nothing. (It’s not, but to others– wow, it’s so admirable)

The amount of things they do for other people– Virgo/Pisces has nothing on Aquarius in terms of caring/actually making it happen. Do you not think your local Aquarius is fond of praise/adoration? so firstly i have 3 different variations of papgore i ascribe to but this answer was getting super long so for now i’m just gonna focus on regular canon-ish undertale papgore. later on i’ll post my takes on underswap!papgore and the one that incorporates the ‘papyrus is actually gaster’ theory (it’s still long after cutting those parts out whoops).

now i actually didn’t get into this one until very recently, like 2 weeks ago. prior to then i liked papgore but was only able to really see it as either a variation of kingdings (my primary undertale ship) or with underswap. but i wanted to see what it would look like if papgore happened on it’s own merits+made sense to me, and what i came up with was:

papyrus post-pacifist becomes the mascot or the ambassador, either way he’d be working closely with asgore

papyrus yearns for validation+affirmation

asgore could really benefit from having a partner with tons of energy and optimism.

asgore would no doubt be charmed by papyrus’ personality and said boundless energy+optimism

the idea that papyrus, whomst loves attention and prestige, wouldn’t in some way find it appealing to woo the king of all monsters, is honestly a concept that doesn’t make any sense to me.

as for relationship dynamics and other things, i think it would play out something like this:

asgore is stressed all the damn time, being king of monsters is hard enough when you’re not trying to balance that with ruling among humans who’re somewhere between vaguely tolerating you and actively wanting you dead. he desperately needs a shoulder to cry on, and papyrus is right there!

papyrus finds he needs other people to take him seriously; being loud and super energetic is seen as ‘quirky’ and ‘cute’ but doesn’t help when working with human politicians and diplomats so he has to act ‘respectable’. this is a thing he’s willing to do but is more than a little exhausting and humiliating, and then there’s asgore actively encouraging him to be himself the second he’s off the clock.

papyrus loves attention and also loves doing things that will net him some appreciation, so once their relationship goes from professional to friendly to romantic he’s constantly showering asgore with love and affection, which gets returned with the affirmation he craves. (cue the angst when asgore has a depressive episode and is less responsive to papyrus’ charms)

asgore loves doting on papyrus. hugging, kissing, nuzzling, cuddling, all that. he also loves and appreciates said papyrus-showering-him-with-love.

Unfortunately, asgore has some self-worth issues that come up sometimes and occasionally feels undeserving of papyrus’ affection, or feels like he’s a burden on papyrus (and on everyone else). so he might unconsciously pull away, which might make papyrus feel like he’s done something wrong (here’s another papyrus hc, he’s got tons of rejection sensitivity). this is the main source of tension in the relationship and it’s a struggle to get through but they get through it

Things are going well - thanks for asking! Movement refers to the individual muscles and bones used in the process of dancing whereas the final product is the look at the end; is my arm the same height as the person next to me, does the group formation look proportional, etc. I wouldn't say Hoshi or Vernon are the best dancers but they have great control over their bodies (the movement) and seungkwan probably picked up on that attention to detail to a certain degree. svt because their choreo allowed me to engage with the music different than how I usually do with that with other groups. I'm multifandom af but svt holds a special place in my brain, hence all the mentioned groups lol. I guess I've been into kpop for a while but that interest has been in waves. In my younger days I was really into keeping up with groups but now I check them out whenever someone, usually a dancer, or music catches my attention. (2/)It's a matter of random sampling; after a while companies are bound to attract a kid with experience in something beyond typical idol expectations. It's like singing: habits die hard especially those learned when young. I'm not sure of they kept up with the (3/)It's like singing in that aspect: old habits die hard. Fei and Victoria for example rarely moved their torso because in traditional Chinese dance the expression and artistry comes from the arms and legs but in a hip hop dominated field constricting those muscles makes them seem stiff and uncordinated. Same goes for anyone who learned ballet. Another example of this is Yuju from gfriend. While her arms are fine, she has a stiff lower body probably due to having learned figure skating (4/)Where the ankles knees and pelvis has to be stiff for the jumps. But when compared to the other girls in gfriend, something looks off about her dancing even when the overall picture looks right. Fun fact: stephanie danced for the LA ballet a few years back. Her approach to dancing is creative and strong even for a former idol. considering that both jyp and lsm actively performed throughout the 90s, I'm not suprised the companies are big on injury pervention. That's not always the case (6/)Because quite a few of their idols have been injured on the job. Yuri only recently got surgery for her ankle even though it's been an issue for a couple of years now. Choreo for TT had to be modified to accommodate jihyo's knee towards the last legs of promotions. Mark's spine is in terrible condition from all the jumps he had to do for girlsx3. Jype and sme stress technique more than other companies do but that is a low bar. No one knows what ** is doing. Either name is fine love (7)
