Their whole "healing your inner child and moving from your past" thing they've been doing in this new post hiatus TIT era has been far more successful that I realised. Im rewatching 2014/2015 era videos (currently festive ditl) and Ive realised for the first time theres no second voice in my head going "dont assume, every interaction doesnt have to mean something, dont speculate" etc. And im simply sitting here, smiling ear to ear, appreciating how much they have always loved each other and how it seeps into everything they do.

Do I think their demeanor in vids post-renaissance is partially just way more natural for them and true to how they act irl? Yeah, and there’s definitely the “dan and phil don’t give a fuck” of it all, but also…. They did such a good job this past year of hooking in phannies that had drifted. phannies that were moderately engaged became hyperengaged. They started shining their own spotlight on the corners of their past that only we had been holding in the light; they started being openly sexual where there was once just innuendo; they started even more directly engaging onscreen with everything that had been happening within the fandom offscreen; they broke the fourth wall more than they ever had and kinda stopped pretending it had ever really been there. They knew that we knew that we knew that they knew etc, and now that doesn’t have to be hush hush.

I think a lot of this was preparing their audience for the show, and surely helped with ticket sales. They kicked off the themes of the show long before they even announced it, and their content has mirrored those themes. There's a chance i'm getting this turned around, and the show is reinforcing the themes that they're trying to embody irl/online. i guess i think both are true? but i just don't think we talk much about their strategy because we're busy eating up what they're feeding, creating the exact fervor i think they've been trying to generate for the past year, and relishing in this new paradigm.

I remember seeing @simplydnp's post where they mentioned the react to pinofs being a way to “defang” the whole notion of them facing their history alongside us, to ease us into laying bare a lot of what had been elephants in the room, and yeah, i feel like they've done a clever job getting us accustomed to this feeling of, idk, risk? of opennesss? Of almost almost almost? of love saturating everything they do? Which was always kind of there but more muted and rarely deliberate on their part, it was just what we picked up on because they're loud and obvious. I find it so bizarre that I’ve seen some of your anons say they remember when she got super famous around 2008… as an international ex-swiftie I can tell you right now that is so far from the reality at least on a global scale. Maybe in the USA she was super famous then but she was still relatively unknown until the whole Kanye VMA situation, and even then only a small number of people knew her for her music itself. I was a fan since her first album but she wasn’t like an overnight global success (tbh I think she hates that she wasn’t cause it definitely feels like she tries to make it seem like she was). And when she did start to become “Taylor Swift” the brand it was NOT COOL to like her. In fact I remember being picked on for liking her. Like why would I like that lame country singer. Country music is lame. It wasn’t till 1989 that she became cool to like her (I could argue I Knew You Were Trouble but for the sake of it I’ll say 1989). Then the whole Kanye 2.0 situation and she went into “hiding” (aka didn’t call paparazzi on herself). Then Reputation is where I think people were back on the Taylor train. She’s not really fallen from grace since well until now. I just find it interesting the perception she was a mega star in 2008 when I don’t think globally she was till 2014/2016. And even then most of the success for her music followed personal drama that increased her fame not the other way around. Don’t get me wrong she has always been in the public eye but definitely more of an American Celebrity than a global one for the most part of the start of her career. The origin of Bluenos Album Art

TLDR: I have no clue where the album art came from after this post, i either find a lyric page scan or buy a Blueno CD (with zero garuntee of finding my answer)

My first instinct is to look for the origin on Tineye, maybe when it released or around that time there was some old ass dude on Limewire or Something Awful talking about it. Having a starting point close to release could've been really useful.

My closest hit was 2014, pretty lame

I still wanted to check these out though, cause you might never know

I first went to tok2.com (the top one), i did this somewhat cause of it being the oldest hit, and also being the only hit being a GIF.

I tried simply googling tok2.com, and i got a security alert (great)

I then went to the website via Wayback machine instead, which had 2 snapshots from May 3rd 2005 and June 7 2023 (wtf)

My Japanese is incredibly bad (so i used google translate)

i tried my best comprehending a language Im only at unit 11 of Duolingo with and it seems this is rather a website for hosting music or selling music

Scrolling down i eventually find what were looking for and a list of contributors to the album too! (when looking for a contributors list before i could only find Fusako and Daisuke, but it seems i didn't look hard enough lol)

now seeing the GIF i save it in hopes Tineye finds something else

its 10 seconds of a still image and Tineye doesn't give me any new results (Lame af)

all links have no archived Urls (and opening either website without archive gives an error)

there were also two websites with unavailable webpages, but just like these two the images are the exact same and redirect to the exact same website, just different domain

as for what avid Chinese Football fan was listening to Blueno, idk.

I then went to their Youtube topic channel and Youtube music (i forgot about these) and also found nothing

I still had one last idea though.

I decided to check my Frenesi CD's for if they listed who made the art, maybe if Frenesi did such Blueno could have too.

(these are my CDs, and i eventually plan to scan the lyrics page and the photograph on the back)

Considering all of these list who made the art for Frenesis albums there could be a possibility Bluenos CD does too

so now i either:

1: pray to the lord i find a scan/image of Bluenos CD lyric page in hope of a contributors list

2: buy one and do it myself

Just going a little more into the whole thing about understanding young dnp differently now that we have the whole story, something else I have been thinking about so much is queer rights movements and legislation in the uk. Im a good decade younger than them, when gay marriage was legalised I was 12. I was old enough to understand what it was, but i didnt really have any sort of understanding of how it affected me bc i hadnt even started to figure out who i was yet. To me it feels like so long ago, i feel like ive always had it, which is an immense privelage. But dan and phil were not only already in their mid twenties and in a 5 year strong relationship, they already had an active career on youtube. Watching ditl in london, that was the year gay marriage was legalised in the uk. That was who they already were as people and as creators. I cant imagine what it would have been like when the bill passed. They were still so closeted, but that was also such a big win for them and the whole community. I wonder if at the time it still seemed like such a far fetched thing anyway, bc i cant imagine they were even close to wanting to come out yet. Idk if they thought at that point they ever would. And then i think about the fact that they had been in a committed relationship for 5 years at that point. I cant imagine what it would be like to be with my self-proclaimed 'soulmate' and know that you can not legally recognize your relationship. To not know if you ever would. Which then makes sense as to why its not necessarily a priority for them now. Idk, its like you said. Its strange and a little sad to know now who they were then, but in the end it all worked out. They made it to the other side and i could not be happier for them.

oh wow yeah!! im about the same age as you I think, and yes it was much the same for me in the sense that I was aware of same-sex marriage legislation being passed but I had no real grasp on like, what that actually meant for people lol. this got me curious so I went back and tried to see if they ever even talked about same-sex marriage being legalized in the UK. from what I can see they didn't tweet about it at all, and im assuming they didn't make any other statements about it? then in 2015 when it was legalized in the US, they did both tweet, but quite impersonally (I mean I get why im not saying they should've been making grand statements or anything like that). like even setting their relationship aside for a moment, I can imagine it was incredibly difficult for them as two closeted gay men to navigate how to address things like this publicly—obviously when it came to the UK they didn't even address it at all. but im sure it was a huge deal for them to see it legalized just in the sense of what it represents. but even with this landmark that represented lgbtq+ ppl being more generally accepted, they were still closeted, so there was only so much they could say. like I would love to know their thoughts that they couldnt express in 2013/2014/2015 on what it meant to them! but also how it affected them that they couldnt share their thoughts

but then yeah I do wonder how it was for them in the context of their relationship. bc like before it wasn't even a possibility that they could get married. and then they did have the option, but actually not really because they were still closeted, so even if they wanted to they still technically couldnt without outing themselves. but obviously just knowing you now have the option when you couldnt before meant a lot to them im sure

omg hi mani im so flattered u would ask!! yeah ive been in the throes of videogames lately AHAH... oc brained but videogame about it sort of...

vampire the masquerade is actually a ttrpg originally published in the 80s i think, but it keeps getting updated so its not like. anything super old... whenever i mention "vampire the masquerade: bloodlines" im talking about the 2004 videogame created based off of the ttrpg! im biased in loving vtm and vtmb since well. it's about vampires. but i think it's an unique take on them that like makes the supernatural aspect not too boring compared to the classic supernatural vampire take. since it involves clans, a lot of vampire politics and societal aspects to it all, etc... Bloodlines itself is not a perfect game (ill avoid geeking out too much about the brief dev hell history it had) but i value it so dearly bc its so 2004 and is so gothic/alternative in its genuine influence. also the story is goofy but really good too (with um, simultaneously, the con that It Is a 2004 Game, meaning it has a lot of weird bigotries that were normalized for the time lol). Unforchy it's almost unplayable without downloading an additional patch mod that restores also a lot of cut content ^_^ but you make do... its so easy to make ocs for the game and the general ttrpg, sooo many ways you can go with your characters!! Bloodlines itself as a game is an action/adventure RPG mostly focused on combat (with stuff like stealth sessions) as well as various ways to resolve different quests. the variety of said outcomes is mostly limited by the fact the studio wasn't able to polish the game at all for release due to activision, the publisher, pushing troika games (dev team) to release the game early to compete with half life 2 at the time (yeah crazy i know). that said, the dialogues can be really charming and fun and offer a nice variety of things to do.. its not perfect but seriously is the best vampire RPG game around so far..

killer is dead is completely different (mostly because i can never focus on one thing for too long lmfao), it's an hack and slash 2014 game created by suda51 and grasshopper manufacture (same game devs behind no more heroes, lollipop chainsaw, shadows of the damned etc) and it's. an okay game. i dont even know if i can explain the story bc its like, a clusterfuck. and usually clusterfuck stories are goichi suda's specialty but this one goes over the moon (funny joke if You Know). it's a pretty mid game. I love it on one hand bc its easy to play and very stylish, tho the shaders sometimes can give you an headache. I also love the protagonist (mondo zappa) because to me thats a butch not just some guy. Unfortunately the game has the very strong cons of being too short for the kind of game it is, and also has an infamously bizarre minigame that's called "gigolo missions"... you basically go on "dates" with beauties (sexy girls basically), you give them gifts until they 'love' you and then you go have sex and they give you weapon upgrades as a result. the date though consists of you building up your "guts meter" by looking at their boobs or legs so it's like. REALLY STRANGE. CANT HASHTAG IM SORRY FEMINISM OUT OF THIS ONE I'M AFRAID.... it's so conflicting bc apparently suda didn't want to add this function but publishers forced him to. oh well. a solid 6.5/10 tbh. idk if i'd reccomend it tho maybe gameplays are better than getting it at full price imo (i got my game as a gift)

1. idk! my idea of being "into a fandom" is very loose. i still like descendants, i could get back into writing for it/drawing for it/finally making that video essay on jay's story arc for it at any time. ok an impulsive person. i can't stop thinking about the television show gotham (2014-2019) rn though so that's where im at. but i still reread my own fic often. just read it the other day actually.

2. ha! i actually never read the book w lonnie's brother li shang (rip his unfortunate name i can't take it seriously so i won't speak it). so ill be honest i completely made him up for so sweet, just based on the vibes i got from the vague description of that book. i only really accept the first isle book as canon supplemental materials for me, besides everyone's superfluous cousins, i just can't with that. who is cruella's evil sibling on the isle that had a kid? let's be real. but anyway i decided to add shang in as jay's minor love interest bc i wanted jay to have an experience w someone from aurais. who was really genuinely good, and i think i just pictured lonnie's older brother as someone who takes things really seriously, in contrast to her, which i wanted to reflect in how they spoke of each other, where with this dynamic where shang feels a responsibility to take pressure off of lonnie by living up to picturesque auradon ideals so that lonnie can just be herself, but lonnie sees this and feels somewhat guilty and wishes he wouldn't. if i ever got around to writing my jane/lonnie spin-off i would explore this dynamic. anyway. i know from ur blog that u like lil shang so im assuming this is what u were asking LOL

monday and tuesday were nothing special.

wednesday i went thrifting and i found a cute top that makes me feel so bella swan and a cute dress that makes me feel so 2014 tumblr. i wore the top to the quiz in the evening.

thursday omg. my friends were doing a concert at the same bar as where the music quiz was held. i went there w a and on the walk there i ask her if we should go see the jazz concert afterwards as well and she was like:

"yes, of course, u know whos playing, right?"

WELL, i did in fact NOT KNOW but it just happened to be w on the drums. bro i was so excited. we went to see my friends concert and it was great and ended in a mosh pit so it was quite the change walking into the jazz gig afterwards.

they had already started playing when we go there but it was fine. we didnt get a close-up seat but i could stare at w from afar. it was funny bc when s arrived we just exchanged this glance of like:

"oh, we both know why IM here." the performance felt quite short but yk, we also arrived a little late. after the performance there was a jam, as per usual. w sat w his parents and some others, im assuming relatives, and also d (and k for a bit???).

yadayada i sat down w a, a, l and v closer to the front and then i saw w standing w´by the table l was sitting at but talking w b, k and t. i move over there since i knew it wouldnt be too obvious since me and l r friends. i barely look at him bc hes so close yk but UGHHHH he was like resting his hands on the table and leaning. idk how to describe it but yk standing but leaning and his sleeves were rolled up. dead.

anyways both c and l were leaving and i tried begging them to stay while w was there but they ended up just being like:

"no, girl, just talk to him instead."

i end up moving back to sit w a and l. a and v had left by now too. ws standing by himself and a immediately tells l to invite him over and he invites w to sit w us and points to a seat next to me. he sits down on the other available seat though lol i dont blame him since it was closer so it was more logical.

l and w talk briefly in-between watching the jam session and then w just drops a "i just realized i havent had any dinner today" and we start talking about going out to eat. we were discussing whether we should go to the grill or mcdonalds. mcdonalds is a bit outside of town and only the drive-thrus open that late but w did offer us going w him in his car but we ended up going to the grill. i wouldnt have minded sitting in his car though hehe.

me, a and l leave to go get our coats and w left behind for a bit to go pick up his cymbals and his bag. me and a freak out a tiny bit on my behalf before he joined us again. we left and i was so... omg? the entire walk there and i message l being like "OMGOMGOMG". on the way there w meets a bunch of ppl he knows and he starts play fighting w a. it was quite cute.

when we were nearing the grill i became ever so slightly more comfy to talk after i made a joke he laughed at. we were talking about how much food he could get if he just handed them his bag of cymbals and silly me said he could get lots of shrimps and rice. it sounds so dumb to like explain in such detail things i remember him or me saying but like,,, im gonna do it in detail anyways bc i want to remember it when im seventy and i look back at these posts (if tumblrs still a thing by then).

we all order food and he orders such a dad meal but ig its quite cute when he does it. we bonded over dips bc we had the same fav and the same least fav. we both love béarnaise and hate oriental lol. then b showed up and we invited him to eat w us so we had to wait longer so his food would be ready as well. i didnt mind ofc.

we started talking ab hans zimmer which led w to a passionate rant thanks to him being a zimmer fanatic. then that led to a film bro talk that initially made fun of how film bros act ab shots and stuff just for him to start doing exactly that dgjslkfj it was funny bc he was like listing famous movie scenes being like:

we sat eating together for like an hour and i was so happy to get a reason to stare at him attentively wo it being weird bc yk,,, just watching him from afar and stuff can be pretty weird TT but like actually getting to have eye contact w him and stuff AHHHH!!!

b left first and us others were left sitting for a bit. i thought we were all going home until a whispers to me like "l, hes coming to the bar!!!" which was a big surprise bc like ive mentioned before, hes v rarely at the bar. hes been there more recently though which is fun.

we walk to the bar together and ahhh so happy hihi but we split up quite early on as he goes to his classmates and i felt to awkward to join him. after going outside rq i caught up w s for a bit before walking back in and joining w and some others who i knew. later we were left alone near the bar and bro it was so awkward and later a steals his cap and puts it on her head and i just awkwardly drop the worst line of my life:

"looking fresh."

i actually cant, ive been thinking ab it ever since... WHY TF WOULD I SAY THAT???

later on i joined a and her friends and omg... she asked me if she could wear my glasses and i let her and then she moved over to me and was like:

next day, friday. we celebrate bs 18th bday. once getting to the bar we sit outside and i was so happy actually. like the conversation was so good and i was becoming the perfect level of drunk. i was sitting w my back towards the bar and c just looks at me and points behind me and mouths a quiet "look."

i turn around AND WHO DO I SEE? w. i literally look back in shock w my hand in front of my agape mouth and v goes:

"what, what happened?"

and i go like:

not to bitch abt racist og gossip girl fans but im gonna bitch abt them. i REMEMBER yalls tone when the show first got promo before it even aired, and weren’t even willing to give it a chance, u just made assumptions bc the entire cast wasnt white. 

 ppl, specifically og gg tiktok fans, were saying the old show “gives old money” and the new show doesnt, conveniently forgetting chuck’s dad wasn’t born into wealth but became wealthy when chuck was young, making him new money. his dad is worth 22 billion dollars. 

monet’s parents are heirs to a new york pharmaceutical company and on her wiki its listed that her family descends from old money. johnson and johnson is one of the biggest and has a net worth 435 billion as the wealthiest pharma company in the us. bc im lazy and dont feel like counting means and stats for the top 10 pharma companies in the us relative to ny, im assuming the de haan company has a networth of 100-400+ billion. whatever her family’s networth is i will happily believe it is more than chuck bass.

and monet’s parent’s donation of the wing had to occur sometime after everyone in the og show including jenny’s grade had graduated constance bc it wasnt yet canon, but just before monet had gone there. if we’re talking as soon as jenny’s grade had graduated, thats between june 2010-aug 2018, and monet would be 5 to 13. i’m going to average that the time the wing was planned to be built was 2014 when she’d by 9 bc i love the idea of little monet dreaming of going to constance with absolute certainty, and bc 2014 is a prettier number. my theory is that greyson and camille were planning to have monet go to CB St Judes ever since she was a child, hence the early donation.

@sawasawako the beloved mutual in question pointed out how interesting it is that many film adaptations of frankenstein chose not to give the being (aka "frankenstein's monster") a voice and how that's the version that has become most popular in western cultural thought, and i really think it's additionally interesting to contrast the choices of those films with the choices made in the show Penny Dreadful. im getting on my soapbox but under a readmore because i already know this post will be a mile long

So if you don't know, Penny Dreadful (2014-2016) was a 3 season long show that aired on Showtime (in the US) and Sky (in the UK). Essentially, it's a show that takes place in the late 1880s-1890s in London, grappling with the idea of what would happen if all of the popular characters of gothic novels converged on the city and interacted with each other. Vanessa Ives, the main character, is on the hunt for her best friend Mina Murray, who has been kidnapped by vampires (by Dracula, but she doesn't know that in the beginning) and enlists the help of Ethan Chandler, an American sharpshooter who is hiding the fact he's a werewolf, and Victor Frankenstein, who by the first episode of season 1 has already made his first "being"/creature and is hiding that from everyone else. Occasionally, Vanessa encounters Dorian Gray, the elusive rich prettyboy who seems to know everyone, and has several close calls with witches who are after her due to her past.

There is an ongoing Victor Frankenstein-centric subplot wherein his first 'being'--who goes by Caliban in season 1 and John Clare in later seasons, reappears in season 1 after having not seen Victor for years at that point, and is bent on revenge. Already, he is closer to the novel's version than the popular image in Western film canon; his visual appearance is nearly identical to the description in the novel. Importantly, he is given a voice--and wants and desires and emotions--that his Western film counterparts seriously lack a majority of the time. Here's what he looks like for reference:

His relationship with Victor is complex; Victor abandoned him, as he does in the novel, and so Caliban has to teach himself everything from the books that Victor left in his old lab and from looking out the window (as in the novel at first), before traveling to London to find Victor. While in London, the only job he's able to find is working backstage at a penny dreadful performing theatre, where everyone assumes he looks the way he does due to a mechanical accident in a factory. He gets dismissed from this job after mistaking the kindness of an actress there as romantic interest and nearly attacks her over her rejection of him, and he sets on his revenge quest towards Victor.

He wants Victor to create him a mate, but unlike some popular movies, even this gets subversed: Victor does end up creating a "mate" for Caliban, but she (previously Brona Croft, an ex-textile worker, now sex worker, who dies of tuberculosis, revived to become Lily Frankenstein) quickly gains her own sentience and thoughts and emotions---unknowingly to Victor, she has retained all memories of her past life as Brona, and has deduced the circumstances of her resurrection---and decides to leave Caliban and Victor and forge a life of her own, enraged at the treatment of women in their society.

Caliban is incredibly complex, and eventually he and Vanessa become friends which was the highlight of my life when that happened... like ugh look at this scene ... anyways

I just think it's interesting! Caliban has his problems and terrible behavior (Penny Dreadful is one of those shows where nearly everyone is a bad person lol) but he is a nuanced human being. He loves poetry and theatre and he wants revenge but he also wants to be cared for. Idk it's just such an interesting portrayal!!!
