bright and splendid | Rating: Teen and Up | Chapters: 1/1 | 2.5k words
Crowley, it turns out, is a being with a Weakness. As a moth to flame, he is drawn to bright, lively, beautiful things. Has trouble denying himself the simple pleasure of admiring them. Amongst all the glamorous, glorious wonders of Creation, Crowley would dare to say his Angel is the brightest, most beautiful thing of all.

My heart does a funny little squeeze every time I get a comment on one of my fics. No matter how old the story is, or if it's unfinished and my inspiration died halfway through. I feel such joy and excitement every time. Even if it's just a key smash or hearts or crying emoji. Just know that you, as a reader, are loved. And I love that you took the time to share with me your own love of something I wrote. It makes me happy and feel a little less of a fraud. Knowing that there is someone that likes it. So bless you. May your days be bright and full of all you deserve from life.
not to be "comment on fanfic even if they are oooold"
But I just read a pretty good fic published in 2014-2015 (you know, roughly TEN YEARS AGO) and I was like, damn this is so cool, I have to leave a comment, even if you know, they probably wont see it...
The author replied less than an hour later.

so... TOS characters were probably famous enough to have little kitschy souvenirs and such made of them & sold in starbases, yeah? novelty candies and the like?
because i'm imagining a crack-fic where spock (pining or feeling heartbroken) gets ahold of kirk-shaped chocolates and gets Very Drunk And Sad by eating them.

ever since I heard that RR was like "we decided that since Annabeth was so smart and 6 steps ahead of everyone, it wouldn't make sense for her to do x, y, or z like she did in the book" I've been physically ill, it haunts me

Bayverse squandered their "Earth is Unicron" subplot and so many characters.
It would have been so perfect to delve into the really freaky and disturbing lore that humans created across the world...
And found out it was real.
Not just King Arthur and Merlin, but the faint remains of Atlantis, the echoes of mad laughter from a revelry in ancient forests, the fox messengers of Inari traveling everywhere, strange and terrible shapes twisting beneath the ocean waves or off the coast of the Diego Garcia base, ghost towns filled with decrepit homes and buildings with the odd sense between hope and despair as they wait, national statues or ancient sculptures that are actually once living people and beings but transformed into marble and rock and sleeping until they feel the brush of the Matrix or the Allspark, wide and empty stretches of road with no one else and GPS glitches along with time (minutes that go on forever, every so slowly, painfully) as they pass the same canyon formation or homemade sign over and over and over-
I live and love the Other aus too much to give them up, so-
Give me a Mikaela Banes who has become a Dragon herself with the blessings by a Primordial (the Great Shadow, Carnage Incarnate, Unmaker's Mirror) that devoured worlds and remade them as she's the one that offered herself as tribute upon their altar.
Give me a Sam Witwicky who has seen the universe in all of its terrible and wicked glory, beastly and divine in the transcendent music that the Allspark weaves in its own song in the grand orchestra -he has seen, he has heard, and he cannot help but remember snippets beneath the breeze that rustles the trees and the soft patter of rain upon his bedroom window and haunts all his dreams and every waking moment because, despite his vocal adamance, he can never return to normalcy.
Give me Judy Taylor that tries to outrun the monsters in her family's shadows and the ghosts that howl for vengeance and protection in her childhood home by eloping with a Ron Witwicky with a similar madness in his own bloodline.
Give me a William Lennox whose luck is too uncanny, too fortuitous, especially in hindsight, as he feels the very signs his own grandmother would foretell as she hangs trinkets in the branches and leaves sweets on the porch.

Just for you guys information: escaping a near death situation, being high on adrenaline can make you do not so smart and logical things. Your brain is on fight, flight & survival. Also yes it can even make you horny, since it kicks your survival instinct which includes reproduction. Especially with someone you already have the hots for. Great and Tyme are dancing around each other since their first encounter, both knowing / hoping where this will go since then.
AND in case of Tonkla sex can be (mis)used like a drug since it also gives you a bit of an endorphins, dopamine high and a good distraction from bad feelings. Which is what he does. I also don't think Win loves him, he just finds him attractive for now and wants to serve him with sex as well as with the case.
Stop trying to find reason and proper norm textbook etiquette in moments and characters who are not a normal ordinary day situation or person.
Just go with the flow, take it as it is and see where it goes.

No one asked, but my biggest inspiration for wanting to write folk horror specifically was how many other stories I read emphasized trying to escape from the danger. Which is fair. The two most common themes I noticed were: A. Character is from a city and gets overwhelmed once removed from civilization or alone and B. Character spends a lot of time running.
Except.
I grew up in the mountains. Not the cute "rich people vacation here" mountains either. I know how to survive in a certain type of wilderness. This is not scary to me.
What I cannot do is run. My legs do not do that. I walk with a cane most of the time. So running? Not even an option.
That is where the folk story inspiration comes in. Folk stories focus a lot on trickery and thinking to work your way out of a problem.
Horror-horror is misunderstanding the situation until the creep begins. You cannot know the story you have entered. There is false safety. There is powerlessness. You lock your own exits shut. The rabbit invites the fox in. Predator gets the prey.
But predators have to conserve their energy. Trophic level biology. Eating a rabbit is nowhere near as nutritious as the rabbit eating grass. A predator can only afford to strike when they know they have got an easy win. Killing is for eating.
But the prey? A prey has a magnitude more energy at their disposal. Should they manage to overcome the instinct of fear, the instinct to run, a greater, more profound instinct remains. Moose are armed with more than legs for a reason.
So maybe a city rabbit does not know to fear the fox. Foxes are cute and charismatic. Maybe once it is obviously too late, a city rabbit has no choice but to flee, no matter how fruitless an endeavor it surely is.
The mountain rabbit? The mountain rabbit knows better. Maybe the mountain rabbit cannot keep the fox out. Cannot stop the doors from locking. Maybe the legs cannot run, knows better than to try. Maybe the fox has teeth and claws and intent, but a rabbit is not defenseless either, and once the baser instincts are gone... well. For the predator, killing serves a purpose. For the prey? Killing is for fun.

Blaming @musicfeedsmysoul12 and the “humans are space orcs” post for this taking over my brain with a vengeance but I would kill for a 500 episode series of Sarek and Amanda’s relationship from the beginning because seeing a Vulcan coming to terms with all the illogical that is humanity would be so fucking funny.
This man would make it through her first period and look like he just escaped an active war zone. She has pack bonded with their vacuum cleaner that she put plastic eyes on and cried when it broke. She got wine drunk and drew eyebrows on their Shelat with an eyebrow pencil and is scream laughing on the floor. She told him to “shut up his eyebrows” during an argument. Despite the fact that he is three times as strong as the average human male and would have gladly helped her she decided to rearrange their living room while he was at work. When they’re on earth there is one (1) pigeon she has beef with that made its nest near the Vulcan embassy she can pick it out without fail every time. She has asked him which of two identical shades of pink lipstick looks better and got mad when he told her they were the same. A human man twice her size made a rude comment about Sarek when they were out in public and she lectured that man until he cried.
And all of this culminates as him explaining humans to little Spock who is solemnly nodding along with his every word like it’s gospel.

here is an idea: DMC 3 Dante x Fem hunter reader where they are dating/demon hunting partners, she falls pregnant and dose not know until when she is on a mission and she goes into labor meaning her BF (Dante) needs to deliver there baby and comfert her (example: calling her a good girl and praising her) away from the demons
OK first of all let me just say something real quick--there is physically, scientifically, and biologically no way you can get pregnant and be completely oblivious about it until labor. What about missing your period? What about hormonal and weight changes? What about pains, aches, and cramps? What about the extremely noticeable tummy growth? This whole thing is gonna be ridiculously illogical, but I'll still do it. Enjoy. 💜
Sudden labor (DMC3! Dante X Fem!Pregnant!Reader)
You and Dante had been dating for a few years now, being loyal partners both in regards to your relationship and to your job. You hunted demons together by day and passionately made love to one another by night.
One day you two sent out together on a mission to exterminate a massive clan of demons that had taken a liking to a particular forest not too far from a moderately populated city. You and Dante were doing just fine at first, relentlessly chopping down and shooting holes through creatures without end. Everything was going perfectly well, until suddenly, you felt a sudden and sharp pain shoot through your stomach. It wasn't a stomachache, it wasn't period cramps, it wasn't like anything you'd ever experienced before. It was so painful, it brought you to your knees. You dropped your weapons, collapsing onto the ground, crying out in pain. Dante heard you, and fearing that you'd gotten attacked, rushed to your side in an instant.
"Babe, what's going on? You alright?" He asked, worriedly.
"I--I don't know! It hurts...everything hurts!" You suddenly became aware of something runny trickling down your legs, and you looked down, only to find a mixture of blood and other fluids leaking out of your privates. "What the hell?!" You shrieked, fearfully. "What's happening to me?!"
"It looks like you're in labor!" Dante screamed. "How did--?! What--?! How the hell is this possible?! How come we didn't realize you were pregnant before?!"
"I don't know!" You replied, panting heavily. "What do we do?!" Dante answered you by scooping you up and carrying you to a location far, far away from the (slowly dying) demons and carefully set you on the ground. After removing your bottoms and taking a quick glance at your contracting vagina, he realized there was no time to get you to a hospital. You'd have to give birth here.
"OK," Dante began, taking deep breaths. "Uhh...push. Yeah, push. That's how you deliver a baby, right? Push!" You nodded, and though the pain was intense, you grit your teeth and pushed through as hard as you could.
"Good job," Dante encouraged, patting your shoulder with trembling hands. "You're doing great. Keep going. Stay strong. You're ok. Good girl--you're doing alright. Keep pushing." You could tell by his frantic, stammering speech that Dante was just as terrified and anxious as you were, given the sudden nature of all this, but he did his best to stay calm and collected so you could have someone to lean on.
Confused, frightened, and in so much pain, you continued pushing hard, and eventually heard a hollow pop, followed by a small cry.
"Oh my God!" Dante shouted, diving down to scoop up the baby that had just slid out of your uterus. "You did it, babe! You--you gave birth! You gave birth!" You let out an exhausted chuckle, flopping back against the ground with a sigh. Your newborn baby cried and failed about in Dante's arms, making him smile. Even though it was under really strange circumstances, you two now had a baby! Hooray!
"Is...is it a boy or a girl?" You asked, gratefully sucking in deep breaths of air.
"Y'know what?" Dante replied, sounding unsure. "I have no freaking clue. Let's go to the hospital and ask the doctors."

Finally done with my MerMay fic. It was fun to write and every interaction gave me the warm fuzzies. If you read remember to mind the tags. I don't add them for shits and giggles.

i figured it out. I think the reason for the landslide of hate and scapegoating and overall rancidity of vibes is because all of you are fucking straight. I've been trying to understand Why y'all are so convinced a man and a woman cannot have a close, intimate friendship without it just Having to turn romantic and my best idea is that y'all have never heard the term queerplatonic. this makes perfect sense to me because if you ask any queer person if they cuddle their bestie on occasion and maybe even smooch a little sometimes they're very likely to respond with a hell yeah but that Does Not Mean any of them have the intention of pursuing a romantic relationship with said bestie. I'm gonna need my fellow faggots to tell me if I'm onto something but this might just be a key to this whole debacle. the heterosexual mind cannot comprehend befriending a member of the opposite sex because they automatically see them as a potential partner. for us queers befriending other queers is as natural as breathing, and does not imply any romantic and/or sexual intent. you guys are simply too cishet for AMCs medium bad spin off

Writing Rant: Irrational Hatred Of Certain Tropes
Hi! Writer Here™. Does anyone have these "most hated tropes" that you know aren't intrinsically bad the same way that, like, "romanticizing abuse" in a not dark romance setting is always bad?
Like, tropes that just grind your gears so much that whenever you write, you write specifically to counteract those tropes. Basically, spite. I'm talking about spite.
For example, if you have read some of my posts you already know that I hate when I can feel the author's hand physically moving characters around and denying their agency.
I hate when the main character/protagonist is the least influencial character in the story. So, because I am a spiteful bitch, all of my characters are either written to be so competent they don't even need to know everything in order to do shit.
For example, I have a character named Nonkosi Tyali who, despite randomly being pulled into a new world, functions as a sort of anti-hero by using poisonous beetles in order to prevent the universe from getting destroyed.
Or Hetrunmeass who despite never seeing the world beyond the "death mountain", is able to create a system that allows them to effortlessly kill politians in the most efficient way possible.
They all have flaws but stupidity and being pulled by the author isn't one of them
