6/11/2024: My newfound acceptance in Cabilis proved handy when I was next invited to a group in Kaesora, the ruined citadel of an ancient Iksar vampire, located quite close to the city gates in the Field of Bone. It was my first time in Kaesora, but luckily my group was quite knowledgeable and skilled, though perhaps just a bit under-leveled, as we had one full wipe, and a second near-wipe to giant spiders on the way to our camp. Fortunately, a kindly Cleric happened to be in the zone, and was willing to resurrect (rez) us, largely mitigating our experience loss. Though we had to fight tooth and nail every step of the way, we finally reached camp, battling undead near the church, and suffering no further setbacks. I made levels 26 and 27. Kudos to Atrau, Cynikal, Farekaz, Grimlokk, and Saesh!

I think these lizard guys called Geeglers are pretty cool because I think lizards are cool. Now I'm imagining a game where you get to play as one of them that you can customize, including custom scale color.

And now I remember when I first played the original EverQuest when I was like 14 or 15 the first character I made was an Iksar (they're kinda like Argonians in the Elder Scrolls games as far as appearance goes).

Quarm or p1999...

Youtube has started recommending classic EverQuest vids to me again, so considering going down that rabbit hole with a new character - again. Kinda considering trying out Project Quarm, but while I don't mind Luclin (and even want to revisit it), Planes of Power is where the game died to me, and when I stopped playing back in the day, so I'm torn between this and p1999...

Also, after playing a Pally back in the day, as well as in p1999 green and a TLP, I kinda want to try something more solo friendly. I like melee, so considering Iksar Monk, but I also never really played a shaman, necro or enchanter, and wanna give one of those a try, but not sure which I want to pick, as they all sound so fun.

The past week I’ve been watching a streamer do a self-found run of Everquest Project 1999 on Twitch and it got me to check out the wiki. Naturally, there’s a scalie race (that’s Evil, but you know what, I have an Argonian necromancer on ESO I RP as morally grey so I have no room to complain).

Naturally, I’m also confused on one thing: What’s the point in giving Iksar the ability to play as shaman, warrior, and shadow knights if they can’t wear plate armor (up until the Velious expansion, but it’s still a negative bonus) and have an experience penalty (which doubles against the player even more if they’re going shadow knight)? Like I get fitting them into classes that fit their alignment, but is that more of a challenging aspect players can tap into if they’re for it?
