6/11/2024: My newfound acceptance in Cabilis proved handy when I was next invited to a group in Kaesora, the ruined citadel of an ancient Iksar vampire, located quite close to the city gates in the Field of Bone. It was my first time in Kaesora, but luckily my group was quite knowledgeable and skilled, though perhaps just a bit under-leveled, as we had one full wipe, and a second near-wipe to giant spiders on the way to our camp. Fortunately, a kindly Cleric happened to be in the zone, and was willing to resurrect (rez) us, largely mitigating our experience loss. Though we had to fight tooth and nail every step of the way, we finally reached camp, battling undead near the church, and suffering no further setbacks. I made levels 26 and 27. Kudos to Atrau, Cynikal, Farekaz, Grimlokk, and Saesh!

The EverQuest Teek and Tormax Progression Servers are Live!
The promised time locked progression servers for the EverQuest 25th anniversary went live yesterday without apparent incident. Teek and Tormax arrive Earlier in the week I gave Daybreak a poke when I mentioned that the Cataclysm Classic launch was unlike some of the Daybreak launches, with a projected go live time and an actual go live that sometimes arrives many hours later. But the EverQuest…

At this point it’s probably worth discussing one of the more divisive topics in the modern game: krono. Krono is the game’s premium currency introduced in 2013, which can be purchased from the official game store for real world money, and which can be consumed for a month of game time. Officially, krono was introduced to limit real-money transactions (RMT), in which players would purchase in-game currency and items through third-party sites, sometimes getting scammed in the process. More cynical observers would say krono was actually introduced to cut the game’s producers in on the action.
In any case, on Teek (and likely all other servers), the most valuable items in-game are bought and sold with krono, and nearly all players pay attention to the exchange rate between krono and platinum (EQ’s “normal” in-game currency). Probably like many players, I have no great love for krono as a concept—I’d have preferred better in-game countermeasures against RMT—but I accept its reality as part of the current game.
However, wanting to enjoy a relatively authentic EQ experience (random loot, free trade aside), I gave myself some guidelines for krono use: I would only use krono to purchase rare, hard-to-get Bard songs, or “evergreen” items that I didn’t think I could realistically acquire otherwise. At some point early on Teek, I made my first krono purchase: a Guise of the Deceiver, a rare item than can transform any character (unlike what the tooltip says) into a Dark Elf, and which can only be acquired for the first couple months or so of a server’s launch. Had I been more patient, the price of the Guise would eventually drop to the point where even a casual player like me could afford it with platinum, but I don’t regret the purchase, and found ways to put it to good use, regardless.

Round One!!!
Goy
The Goy has a wonderful memory and is not likely to forget anything that it sees.
Teek
The Teek is named for the sound it tends to make when it gets too hot or angry. Turning the lever on top can release some of the pressure.
