Question for your plane au - I think you mentioned Knives has his own plane. Is he stuck in it the same way Vash is, or can he come and go? Is Vash completely stuck? Also what's up with the little digital halo he has?

he has the popemobile yeah :) but nope, knives isnt stuck. what happened to vash was an accident and an unique case. he has completely taken over his jet though, way before vash did. gemini-01 is more organic matter than mechanical at this point, a majority of its structure being replaced by the same material his knives are made of.

is vash completely stuck? yes and no. he could technically be detached from peacemaker (and will at some point) but keep in mind his nervous system is spread throughout it. separating him would be less like cutting off a limb and more like getting cut in half from the waist down and just as traumatic. plus all the living tissue in the jet would start to dying soon after

ah, that halo doesnt actually exist, its part of the onboard hologram ui. its only be visible to vash and ww (if connected by the neural link) but i draw it visible to us too bc i think its cute! mass hallucination! :D

[ Eyes Theme

OK SO he has a lot of eye symbolism on his clothing like his bowtie, his thigh bracelet, his coat buttons etc. Its a pretty good representation of his character considering he has the “all seeing eye” and how he has “eyes everywhere” as in he can see your every move and choice, being privy to the future, but I also think it could be a link to the organization or person that originally gave him his ability

He ALSO has a lot of diamonds on his outfit. I think that this is more eye symbolism since the basic shape of a human’s eye is that diamond shape but its common enough that I think its orobably notable

THERE WWS ALSO A LOT OF SUN (?) SYMBOLISM Those symbols on his jacket and gloves look very similar to how the sun is drawn in things like religious art or ancient art. It also looks similar to Sunday’s halo so maybe its related to an Aeon?????

It seems to be all the symbols from before combined like it has the eye in the center obviously but if you look directly top to bottom it looks like a diamond as well BUT IF YOU LOOK AG THE SIDES IT LOOKS LIKE IT HAS MORE NOTCHES MAKING IT LOOK LIKE THE SUN ITS SO CRAZYA. Ok the sun part is a bit of a stretch but still its one thing if he just has eyes everywhere but having the same symbol shape is a bit suspicious. I also think the sun itself couuldddd be an organization symbol or like the symbol of an aeon

[ Symmetry and Lackthereof

Ok now this is more just about the symbolism of his general composition. I find it very interesting that at first glance his clothes are very symmetrical and well kept but upon closer inspection, a little disheveled. Like his gloves look the same but if you look long enough you notice one has a hole in it or how it looks like he wears no earrings but you realize hes just wearing one. I think its a good sign that although Elio seems very well put together hes a bit (crazy person hand gesture) a wee bit mentally unstable probably.

I also take it as a good symbol of his “method to madness” mentality like how his shirt is disheveled and not tucked in all the way but it still looks very intentional and is pretty symmetrical. Also how his belt is half slid down but it—again appears to be intentional.

Even if its not intentional I believe that when creating characters people tend to accidentally include that kind of thing

HE HAS A PONYTAILLLLLL (?) I mean when I saw his hair bow I expected him to have a little one but I RANDOMLY NOTICED THE HAIR BEHIND HIM AND I WAS LIKE ⁉️⁉️⁉️ So I think he has long hair and its in a ponytail Idk changed my whole perception of him; also it didnt match the color of his cape thing but seems pretty close to the darker parts of his hair (I used the darker parts bc ofc the hair behind him would be darker than the top of his head in the light)

Jean had always thought Renee looked angelic, what with her white hair and pastel-dyed tips, as well as her warm brown eyes and warm glow. But his blurry recollection of her appearing and slipping her muscled arms underneath him and hauling him into an upright position made her even more of a creature of beauty and grace. For a second he could have sworn he'd seen a halo around her head, or soft, unused wings.

colors tbd; i mean, i always design my avatars with a pink-purple-white scheme, but some of the design elements for this one are really specific in my head with equally specific colors that unfortunately clash with that scheme if i try to incorporate it all, so. Final Scheme Colors TBD ww

frankly the whole outfit design is kinda tbd because all i had in mind when drawing the concept art was "Lots of Flowers" and "Long Trailing Fabric, Maybe A Big Poofy Skirt" so. mm.

all the flower-loopy things, minus the ones on the sleeves, are supposed to be modified chinese knots

the loops attached to the flower headpiece are feathers and a string of prayer beads (or rosary beads, still a bit undecided) respectively

yes, the loops purposefully resemble halos.

my notes (badly) mention it, but the gold rings on the clothes are inspired by the rings typically seen on a monk's staff. yes i am pulling All the religion-adjacent symbols into this design, that's just what i like in clothes apparently ww

M72 European Leg 1 Assessment

Basic stats rundown: Metallica played a total of 39 different songs over the 5 M72 weekends in Europe. There were 4 live debuts (stars) and 2 songs from “out of the vault” (last played 5+ years ago, asterisks). All albums were represented throughout the tour with the exception of St. Anger.

The full grid is below, as well as songs sorted by album frequency and weekend frequency.

Biggest takeaways:

Over the 25 shows played in Europe in 2019, these 10 M72 shows have already seen 6 more songs. (33 vs. 39)

Hardwired has been given the short end of the stick, however EU 19 WW shows averaged more than 4 HW songs per night, one of those was Moth however (I kept predicting Spit Out The Bone and Halo, but was regularly stumped).

The St. Anger thing is sad, however the 2019 tour saw a rotating slot of St Anger/Frantic, and last year's festival romp featured Dirty Window. I will give them a pass.

Orion has never been played with this regularity, with the exception of the MOP 20th Anniversary shows (Leper too, but it was played on the MOP tours), Ktulu hasn't had this frequency since the RTL tour, Day not since World Mag, Sleepz not since Pour Touring Me.

Doing a small project for a Worldbuilding Doc im pulling together for Whistold. I want visual references for different species of animals in Whistold, so I'm drawing a bunch of those (using existing characters where possible, especially the background/filler characters so they can get some love!)

Started with Mammals (this group doesn't include marsupials or monotremes, those will be the next 2 groups!). These are the mammals on my list that I have characters for~ I had plenty of options for rabbit, canine, bat, and rodent groups so I picked some obscure/less relevant ones for funsies.

Honestly, something that I've learned from being in the md/zs Fandom is that jc antis make absolutely no sense. By their logic, if liking jc makes you an abuse apologist, wouldn't liking, say, ww/x, make you a torture apologist? ww/x didn't just whip people to death, which is a rumor jc antis love to bring up, he went as far as to make someone self cannibalize. Wouldn't that be a reflection of their character as well? Well, no, I guess, cause it's only bad when jc does it🤣🤣 NO MATTER what jc antis say, it's NEVER actually a moral argument they are making, especially when they excuse/ignore the actions of other characters who have done far worse. They're just weirdly obsessed with purity, so they have to make jc the "evil entity" so characters like ww/x are as pure as possible, which is frankly idiotic in a novel like mdzs. I mean, I like ww/x, jc antis just make ww/x unbearably BORING. And don't be sad about their cyberbullying ways. I created a tumblr profile initially just to be able to block them, and my experience has gotten a lot better since then. They are a scourge, and the only thing they are successfully doing is turning people away from wang/xian, and md/zs as a whole, not actually making people like jc any less

I 100% agree with you there. From my experience and all the hate I received, none of it comes from a place of morality at all. It's almost as if they're convincing themselves they are morally superior just to justify their actions towards jc fans or anyone who even criticises w/x really.

In response to jc's "canon homophobia" I've made the point that wwx himself made a homophobic comment in the beginning of the book before he realised that he himself was gay (societal context matters here for both characters.. which they seem to willfully ignore when discussing jc's perceived homophobia, whilst brushing off wwx's and the other characters in the book for that matter!).

Then as you say there was the torture that lwj was initially horrified by, the use of dc that desecrates bodies and rips souls out of the reincarnation cycle etc.

Lwj himself isn't purely innocent either. Like whether they like to admit it or not, but Phoenix Mountain kiss scene was sa and the incense burner dream was very sus... plus he's very overprotective and obsessive which makes me wonder if wwx was a woman, would they be calling it relationship goals then? (Not hating on the characters or the ship here, btw. If people like the ship and the characters, that's ofc fine. I just find it bizarre that antis seem to overlook the somewhat problematic aspects of their characters, whilst calling out others).

I do believe that if these were other characters, these "fans" would be quick to criticise them for these flaws and attack any fans of them like they would with jc and his fans. But they are blinded by the protagonists halo and seem to vehemently believe that these characters can do no wrong when the canon text literally proves that this is not true.

No one in mdzs is perfect. That's a given. Not everything is black and white either. That's a message taught to us by mxtx. She makes it obvious in her text that we are not meant to read the characters at surface level. That there are more to a character's actions than meets the eye. That you shouldn't believe in baseless rumours and mob mentality that wwx himself was a victim of.

These are the main themes of the book.... and yet these antis act an awful lot like the cw. Reading things only at surface level, believing rumours and attacking anyone who deviates from the norm and dares to question the actions of the protagonists.

In their pursuit of morality, it seems they have become the very thing they accuse the likes of jc and madame yu of. And I find that very laughable.

They have certainly turned me away from w/x that's for sure.... which is a real shame because I really loved wwx's character to begin with. I find it hard to enjoy him now when his fans act like this.
