There's a lot to be said about #instinctivetraining, as @boninierik so eloquently put it just last week. So how the hell do you exactly train by...feel? Is it even possible?? Of course it is! But I do recommend learning as much as you can about all types of training, and then making it into your own. Here's quick tip on #restperiods. Sure, the standard window for resting between sets is between 1 -3 minutes if #musclemass is the goal and 3 - 5 minutes if you're going for #strength. But in terms of a hybrid routine like #powerbodybuilding, don't worry about that stuff. This is not to say hang out for 20 minutes between sets! But as @mikeohearn once said, take your time. The goal, especially with increasing the amount of sets you perform and decreasing the amount of reps you hit per set, is that you'll come back each set with enough energy to bang those reps out. That's REAL Power Bodybuilding, not performing a #compoundmovement for a few sets and then hitting light work. It's primarily about going all out on that big move and getting as much as you can out of it. That's were the size AND the strength REALLY come from! Good morning! Are you ready to smash your goals this week? Here's a tip I learned a while ago from @phdeadlift regarding #latactivation while setting up for the #squat. Start by simply grabbing on to the bar from the front, you hands in a suppinated (underhanded) grip, your arms at shoulder width. From there, while still holding the bar, bring yourself under the bar and up against it. From there you may adjust your hands accordingly. I felt that my lats were engaged immediately, which definitely helped with keeping me stable with the bar in my back. Heres an example of how #glutebridges can carry over to your #benchpresssetup. Frequently performing Bridges stretch out your #hips, allowing you to raise them as high as you can. This will allow you to dig your #scapula into the bench as much as possible. It also allows me to bring my legs as far back as possible while keeping my feet flat. And since you need to keep your #core tight along with your #glutes and your entire #posteriorchain, while performing Bridges, this will enforce keeping tight while you set up to bench, and subsequently, while performing the exercise. This felt little better than last time, especially since I'm actually repeating a cycle over again. And since enough #gripstrength is back that I can perform #chinups again, I'm supersetting them with my #overheadpress and #benchpress. I'm also performing as many chin ups as I can before I even begin my pressing movements. I hit five today for the first time since 2017. Training after getting over a sinus headache is not cool. Happens to me around this time. All the time. But I made no excuses and, while this workout took a little longer than it should've thanks to it, I still got it done. I talk from time to time about the importance of #legdrive in #compoundmovements and today was proof that it helps. If it wasn't for me SQUEEZING the life out of my #glutes and #quads I don't think I would hit that last rep on this 110lb #overheadpress. First time on a LONG time that I hit three reps! This ended with #20repsquats at 185lbs. It wasn't easy, but it's not supposed to be. It's a very brutal exercise, but that exactly why it's so effective.
