i have a fic i wrote for the game the quarry after it came out, about one character comforting a child!reader in the camp

unfortunately... i still havent actually finished editing it. :( editing fics is one of the hardest things for me, esp bc sometimes i gotta change or rewrite something etc and it rly overwhelms me

and i mean... ive had quite a lot on my plate if im being honest and also struggling too much with executive dysfunction and health

but... well... there's hope i'll actually edit and post it and that maybe i'll even write more!!!! eventually!!!!!......

(not write more for the quarry though, it was a short lived fixation, but would love to write more for other fandoms!!! with stuff like child!reader and agere!!!

another thing tho is that i hardly ever even FINISH any stories i write. like ive written sooooo many wips in my life that ended up getting abandoned and scrapped bc something with my brain just doesnt permit me to actually complete a lot of these. its like a lack of willpower or focus or something, even when i rly want to work on the thing. but welp theres always hope! i guess)

Complaining abt Suicide Squad yet again but the fact that they have Waller exposing the alien community to space racist attacks and talking abt how she got to her position through deceit and being a terrible person and stuff is just. Ahsfiwueh JUST SAY YOU DONT KNOW WALLER.

Anyways literally the 3rd mission of the Squad ever (and the first framed as smth Waller picked and not orders from above) was the Squad discrediting and stopping a rogue vigilante who was only arresting POC and funneling white people into white supremacy groups (of which he was the most prominent member) in SUICIDE SQUAD #4. and it's explicitly framed as this mission being personal for Waller that she's hiding from the government bc its illegal like. Guys. Please why are we having her incite (space bc comics) racist attacks now

Also the whole "Amanda got her position through deceit and being a terrible person" NO. she KEPT her position through being shitty and playing complicated political games!!! She wasn't always that way like there is a difference and it is IMPORTANT ppl PLEASEEEE. In Secret Origins #14 we learn Amanda's backstory and she used to be a normal, caring person! Like even after she entered into working in government and politics she wasn't automatically morally bankrupt like please people. She was originally given control of the Squad by Reagan (*sigh* 80s comics...) to distract and get rid of her because she was so successful at pushing progressive social policy in Congress. Acting like she's this static pillar of evil is such a waste of her character and so fucking uninteresting and disrespectful to her arc it drives me MAD.

Like I am NOT saying Waller is all sunshine and rainbows, she fucking SUCKS (said w love <3) but like there's a human being there. It's a progression, she has a character arc like please, DC, please!!! They've fucked up Waller so bad and made her so opaque and uninteresting she can't even be the protagonist of her own story for fucks sake!

Like I don't know how many times I have to scream it until DC hears me or remembers but WALLER IS THE MAIN CHARACTER OF SUICIDE SQUAD. ITS HER BOOK. yet right now she's a cutout to be used as the villain wherever the writers please. Even in her book we get none of her perspective really displayed, no exploration of her thoughts with any kind of understanding of the role she traditionally has played and was made to play in the story.

Regarding the US election

This was an election I had the highest stakes in but ultimately no say once however. I am a nonbinary teenager. These next four years are supposed to be about growing up, figuring out who I am and where I stand in the world. If this election goes the way it looks like it will, I will instead have to figure out who I can safely be without endangering myself or my family.

Myself and every other teenager were forced to entrust our futures in the hands of the adults.

This message is to everyone who said "they're the same, " decided not to vote out of a misguided ego or even thought they were helping by abstaining from their fundamental privileges, to everyone who claims that economic policy outweighs human rights.

being a woman does not inherently doom you to suffering btw. womanhood is not suffering. womanhood and suffering are completely divorced from eachother. if your womanhood is really that tied into the concept of suffering then maybe youre not a woman. women enjoy being a woman or are neutral on the matter, and are often discouraged by specifically the problems they face from being a woman. if struggle and womanhood is synonymous to you, you either have some debilitating gender essentialism and doomery radfem beliefs to unlearn or youre not a woman and its time to get you on T cause that shits not normal. being seen as a woman should feel "meh" at worst (and you still may be agender if thats the case lol).

I feel like the reason why I'm usually not a fan of my own works and constantly needing to improve is because I naturally thrive off of messy, chaotic scribbly lines in my paintings but there's an annoyingly irritating paint bug in my head that insists that I need to "clean it up" to make my art look more "presentable".

Despite the cozy vibes, the dynamic light and atmosphere of the first painting, I prefer the methods I used for the second one. Yet I go for the first one's process, as it is the most effective way to render.

Truth be told, I don't like how smooth and clean these final products are, and every time, it feels like an obligation I have to maintain, and it is because I use this methods most while doing commissions. But the question is; how would I stop when it's been my method to use for years?

I am unreasonably upset about the fact that I've been forced to accept that Gabriel was a Gerald.

For context, in An Inspector Calls, Gerald Croft is engaged to Sheila Birling when he meets a homeless, struggling Eva Smith in a bar, and essentially in return for a home and money he shows her affection (ahem), then gets rid of her once he no longer has a use for her. Now, obviously this isn't a direct translation, but the essentials are - a Gerald is a character who uses another character, in return for something they need, usually masking the fact that they're using them with affection and love.

And against my will I've had to accept that this is exactly what Gabriel does to Nathalie.

Did I want to think he had potential to be better? Did I think he genuinely cared for Nathalie?? Hell, did I just really really want somebody to care about Nathalie???

Probably all of the above but the point is: he's Gerald. And I cannot - I literally can't unsee it now. Their whole dynamic in S3 is like “oh boohoo I'm sorry I wish you didn't have to use the peacock Miraculous and kill yourself over it but uh I need to use your powers” “yeah no that's fine I'm all good”. Which, given the "Gerald" theorem, I'm assuming leads to the fact that what Nathalie needed, above all, was someone to care about her - and Gabriel came along, as Sheila Birling puts it, "like a fairytale prince", and was so caring and gentle and... Yeah. She fell for him. And. Yeah he genuinely did seem to care like twice. But so did Gerald. Gerald actually admits that he did care for Eva, just not the way that she cared for him, and, uh, not enough to not just dispose of her. So he discards her anyway when she stops being useful.

Leading me neatly to my point.

He starts using the peacock Miraculous the second it's fixed, the slimy bastard, HOWEVER. It runs way deeper than that. Assuming I'm right (which I almost DEFINITELY am), then Gabriel only needed Nathalie while she was useful. She didn't stop being useful in season three - she's still scheming for him, helping him with plan after plan. It's only partway through season 5 that she officially servers ties with him, and starts to actively hinder him.

Nathalie stops being useful when she fails as Safari. And I reckon that's when Gabriel and Tomoe decided she had to go.

(It's painfully, I-was-ugly-crying-over-it obvious in Conformation that Gabriel is fully prepared to let Nathalie die - in the original storyboard, her alliance was encouraging her to sleep, and he's very obviously prepared for this moment - I've made a separate post about it that I'll link if I can find it. However, onto the next bit)

With all of this, there's one thing that sticks out to me - Nathalie didn't see any of it until it was already too late. There could be many reasons for this. But you know who would have seen through it? Whose parents were all loving and perfect until she married the wrong man? Emilie. Emilie, who left behind those videos, which on the surface look innocent, but when you look deeper look like a (love confession???????) AHEM a warning. I reckon Emilie noticed what was going on and realised that Nathalie wouldn't see through Gabriel, so she left those videos addressed to Nathalie (not Gabriel, which surely they should have been - they were about him, after all - unless they were there...) as a warning. I don't think the videos were supposed to be about helping Gabriel, I think Emilie was warning Nathalie to get the fuck out of that house, and to take Adrien with her. Because Emilie knew it'd end like this.

finally watched the playthrough for class of '09 flipside and i'm going to pretend none of that happened, thanks. idec enough about the nicole suicide ending where i should've been emotional but i was blank and dry as cardboard because everything preceding it was complete garbage.

that trafficking ending was fucking disgusting. call me sensitive but, hot goddamn take, making jokes about people being actively oppressed over 75 years and recently, being brutally genocided for all to see, running a sex slave ring where they specifically love to rape white girls - yeah, i think it's just a little bit in poor fucking taste.
