Also at the other end of the spectrum, incest being incorporated into stories does not automatically mean the writer/artist gets off to it. Dark media having incest as a topic is genuinely important for people who have incest-related trauma. Representation for them is just as important as it is for people with any trauma.
Incest is definitely a touchy subject and can be really tough to cover. And people who put it in their media are often scared because there will always be people that point at it and scream 'proshipper' (/'tcester' for specifically the tmnt fandom) or something.
It is entirely valid for people to be put off by any kind of portrayal of incest, even if it's handled well. But that's what blocking and filtering are for. If someone's story makes you uncomfortable, it is entirely in your right to block them and filter out any tags that could keep that content away.
But to rant and rave and call them nasty things for what is possibly a projection of their own trauma is gross.

Coming and Going - Some More Vivzie Shit
Before you start, this is an extremely LONG read covering this account, my views of Viv, my content and my relationships within this Godforsaken fandom. This is my most up to date thoughts in 2023 on everything. This is something I feel necessary for me to do.
Contents (in no particular order):
Current Situation
Relationships in the fandom
Why I started this Blog
Thoughts on Viv/co and how they've changed since m previous posts
the fans
future thoughts and moving on
accountability
If any of this interests you, read ahead. Titles will be provided for easier following.
Why I started this blog
Originally this was a blog like any other; art, reblogs n shit. As I grew more into a Viv fan, I started posting fanart and follow blogs on her work. The more I learned the more I hated, and thus I began to become a critic. I was pissed off at viv wasting her potential, and eventually I became just as toxic and shitty as both her hardcore haters and majority of her fans. Some takes were good, some bad, either way I got too involved, too absorbed and let it consume me. Stupidly getting into conflicts, stuff like that. And I became a hardcore hater. I vocalised it. My initial aims long lost. Then I disappeared.
Vivzie, co, all that
I went from adoration to disgust of this lot. Now though, whilst I deeply dislike Viv and her crew, deeply dislike majority of the fans, I just feel... Gross. Hollow. Exhausted. I have a lot to say on Viv and my previous takes but truthfully I am too lazy and too tired and ultimately have better shit to do than go through every little thing right *now*. But I do want to at least cover a few here to do some justice, I guess.
So to skim through a few. Lets go.
Viv tracing. Honestly, tracing is a useful skill but it's bad when you trace another's work, don't credit and claim it as your own. This includes modified tracing (starting with a trace then stylising over it to make it more your style). Having nazi, nonce, etc characters I think people take extreme. These sorts make excellent "love to hate them" villains. Owning such characters isn't a crime. It's how theyre portrayed and the purpose. The nuance - something to constantly keep in mind. Her romanticism sausage party art is yikes. With her age, maturity, humour, I believe she saw this as some kind of fucked up humour, having enough awareness to understand the taboo to hide this stuff yet I do feel this was a stupid kid doing stupid edgy shit. Does that make it right? No. But I definitely dont think Viv is some nonce or nazi supporter. Later finding out how this profile was discovered makes me equally question morality on all sides. Vivs beastiality nonce artwork with the snake tub, Ive seen private dms to solidify that viv admitted to both owning this piece and that it was supposed to be a joke. Once again, I genuinely dont think shes a nonce BUT she needs to realise that if that character was below 18, she has drawn child prawn (censorship whooo) as well as distributed it via sharing online. That's still something really serious and gross. I get her humour is immature and dark, but theres lines you dont cross. And I dont find that art funny in any ways, it genuinely looks like a perverts wank bank rather than funny. Idk if the lad was one of them shapeshifting animals either but being in a human form in this instance does make the portrayal a beastiality one, due to human presenting. That's not cool. As much as I loathe those who would abuse kids or animals, I dont think this is Viv necessarily. Though I believe in this sense, Viv needs to understand and work with her cats more. She's done a lot of wrong shit but false accusations derail from solid proven issues that need addressing. At the least, Im glad the animal pervs and nonce stuff is gone. Heartbreaking that shit is so often heard of. This is the sort of thing Id laugh at as a kid but now Im grown and look after little ones, it fills me with nothing but sickening horror. Whilst vile vile vile, I havent seen anything concrete to prove or imply Viv supporting/participating in such depravity. And I fucking pray it stays that way.
You have apologised in the past. But the way you did so, the way you spoke about it afterwards and the way you are now proves it was insincere. Something to shut 'haters' up.
Viv, with all your shit, neurodiversity and late maturity, you're still yet to change for the better. The people you hang with are some of the most vile, toxic, narcissistic and shitty people. Yes men. You hire fans who'll do anything to please you, which can open the path to abuse (note: CAN, not a definitive, though in this case...). You equally are still a shitty person still. You're coming apart at the seams. Critique and hate aren't the same, and unfortunately you'll need adaptability and tough skin in this world as people can be very cruel. You lie. You twist like a constrictor. Charm the more susceptible. A very well known kissarse of yours on twitter who was quite the bully was followed by yourself, liked tweets then hired. They arent the only one either. Whilst you cannot be responsible for every single fans every single action, their are responsibilities you hold. Dont like tweets that encourage hate, dont reward negative behaviours, check your own public actions and how they may influence (act like a prick and those who admire you will mimic). Behind the scenes, treat people right. Dont play favourites. Always have integrity. Learn to incorporate critiques as well as filter out legitimate hate. I know it's not easy, but it's necessary to survive.
Viv, I can wholeheartedly empathise with receiving harsh hate early on in life and online. I know how that can taint and stunt the mind. But the thing is, you have to eventually break from that. BE responsible. Grow. Ive been toxic before. That's partially why I fixate on some of this. Equally Im angry. You ARE a VERY talented artist with potential. A shitty writer, do work on that (as well as diverse stories to tell - gain those experiences or listen to those who've been there - esp as you're doing this as a living) but when you're passionate about a piece, you're talented. And when you're not, you do what we all do and dole shite out (btw people thought I was bullying Viv when I said her P5 Alastor piece was bad in comparison to her other works. The proportions were awful, you could tell she just wanted it out the way. A startling lack of soul.) From what I've seen, you crave approval and admiration to compensate from the past cruelty. I can empathise. But that shit isnt healthy. And you block yourself from growth. You cultivate a tainted crop. You poison yourself. You sacrifice integrity and the gruelling work of improvement for the instant gratification of worship from fans by bending to their desires and your own at the cost of quality. What couldve been groundbreaking storytelling and visuals is nothing more than a glorified low-level fanfic. Wasted potential. Something I cant stand. I have been harsh as that same method helped me. In doing so, I disregarded your own humanity. I wish I conducted myself better and though I never encouraged abuse, I'm sorry that my words may have contributed to this shit cycle.
Your staff and many of your fans have... Concerning attributes, such as the fetishing of toxic relationships, blurred boundaries, disregard of boundaries, etc. The stark numbers of such unpleasant people flocking you is extremely worrying.
I do deeply dislike you. I do feel you have ultimately caused your own shit - been there - but I do pity you as well. I wish you'd go the effort to be you. To be less try hard. To allow growth and change, diversity, stop petting hatred. Get a better crowd, esp one willing to actually help you to be better by pointing shit out. To stop mass abusing others. I do dislike you greatly. I wish you would do better but all you've been doing is doubling down on shit. I feel Icarus needs to fly closer to the Sun for change to happen. It feels like the only way you may actually ground yourself and smell the roses. I just wish folk could be better as a whole. Sick of shit like this. Whilst no one is perfect, there's still standards to uphold. Growth to be had. Breach stereotypes and fetishes that dehumanise, work on yourself and your relationships with others. Careful on your humour and learn how to execute humour properly. Glad you're not doing beastiality art though. You cant please everyone and shouldnt have to in order to be admired and popular. Just be better. Also hating kids isnt a personality. I get not everyone cares about them but dont take shit too far. They can be gross and annoying but in the end they're just... Children. Theyre learning and growing. You can only hope they bloom into decent people. Admittedly a kid tripping is pretty funny but there's a limit. If you want to portray a creep, don't do anything that endorses their behaviours. Theyre vile, remember. No kid deserves that. Work on financing too. Medicating via shopping is a dangerous road. Dont bend to social pressures (such as getting wasted because friends do if you dont want to). Vet your staff. Better ethics.
Fandom
And the fans are just... A minority are lovely. I had a HuskerDust fan be respectful of our differences and hope the best for them. But the majority I've encountered or witnessed have been off their fucking heads. Often encouraged by Viv or staff. The staff and fans are now claiming that critics are homophobic racists falsely (which implies certain races, sexualities, identities, etc are absolved of criticism - which is both favouritism and it's own form of bigotry. Hell, it's spitting on the real victims of such crimes over mediocre cartoons and digital lunacy). These same people then insult people for... being cis and straight. Firstly, that's also bigotry and a dick move on identity and invalidation, it's also false in some cases (proving folks just spew shit), it demands special treatment for identities when we're all equal and deserve to be treated with equity, it's also just... Weak. Bigots can fuck off BUT many critiques have been about inconsistency in plots, writing and design issues, etc. Nothing pertaining identity.
Fans have been hypocritical like their idol. We're all hypocritical to an extent. But the madness... Ok, Blitzo uses retard (note: neurodivergant and have right to say that word, even then it also means delay "fire retardant" as well as where I live it's not nearly as bad as another term used yet is still fine in the US.) I think this isn't an issue as it can show things or speech patterns of the character. Then fans have falsely accused critics of ableism who either havent used the word, quoting this or even have right to say it yet coddle this fictional character. This was referenced in a recent episode with Blitzo about to call another character (rumours are this nurse is autistic but I do NOT have full confirmation. Pinch of salt!) retard before retracting it as it being unacceptable to say. Blitzo really wouldnt give a shit. Likewise I feel this is one of those permanant grey areas in fiction; is it? Isnt it? in terms of using terms. Of Mice and Men used slurs against black folk, that was to reflect that time and the character's mentalities. Not an author's mirror. Likewise, it wasn't used as humour either. Coming from ONE ND, I couldn't care. I feel this is hyperfocused on over more glaring issues, as well as a benefit of the doubt (being character mindset and possibly not author projection). Feel free to have your own opinions, and I only speak for myself there. I can empathise with those who may feel more sensitive to the word (which is why Im more careful in it's use) but as someone who is also technically affected, I just... Personally dont feel too bothered. Likewise, I'm learning to hold more human compassion and flexibility to error and human flaws rather than perfect standards (again, this wont justify or absolve. And more serious things like an assault doesnt apply. It's daft this needs clarifying, it should be the bare minimal). Not everyone will agree on everything, but there's just some lines that should be a standard. I think the staff and fans overall conduct themselves immaturely, cruelly, and cause harm.
I regret in engaging in some arguments. Not worth it. I think I shouldve been more compassionate to difference yet equally not been so volatile with harassment. HunterGirl's HD discord hate on me is... Something I shouldn't have fed. Hate me, that's fine. But the fact someone so close to Viv allowed the harassment is disappointing and shitty. Bitch behind the scenes but dont go out at people. Likewise behind the scenes talk, dont threaten folk either *Viv* (at one of your ex-staff). Call someone the biggest wanker you know but there are limits you dont cross. As with Viv and co, I once hoped for improvement but I just lack faith in that now and I'd just rather stay away from it all. Too much toxicity I've allowed myself to bathe in and hatred and venom only burns. Only burns more of the same product. It's not worth it. Don't even have the skills or assets to do any good from this either. If I can't help, itd be best to support those who can help whilst staying away from the vitriol. Stick to the facts and my own integrity. It's tiring to be involved in all... this. Again, I can only speak on myself hence why I'm only saying me shit. Any vents can be done to friends but otherwise none of this has resulted in any good. And I contributed to cruelty as well. It aint right.
Friendships
Bit more personal and past. Ive made many nice friends. Friends Im still friends with now, and I thank them. With certain issues arising, theyve been the anchors to ground and account me. Real friends. Friends that deserve to be shown more how appreciated they really are. Thank you. They have guided me into better awareness and accountability. We have our own little group now for art, gaming and hopefully any other group activities. Friend stuff. We'll rant, we'll vent, but we're actually doing friend shit now. Ive hyperfixated enough on negatives. Dragged others into an abyss with me. Its not fair for them.
There is a friend here, I think they dont see my stuff anymore idk. I was warned about them. Through all Ive seen and my experiences, I wish you to get help. Get off tumblr. Get off twitter. Both can be extremely toxic as well as cultivate toxicity. Be accountable. Get help. And focus on you. I still worry for you, though I am disgusted on some of your actions. Treat the living with respect. Learn that people will try to bait you. Let go of paranoia (not easy), confront your past and grow. And please... Dont lie. Dont lie about events that occur as you're creating your own misery. Learn to step back and not be so forceful and preachy. Been there, it's not a good place. Experience a diverse crowd on a human level. And please spend some time away from the internet. People really can be pricks sometimes. Even ourselves. You're also pretty hair trigger and tempered. A bit like me sometimes LOL. Learn to balance that. Trust me.
To mates on here who Ive only spoken to here, if you'd still like to be mates, I can link you our group if you're up for group art and gaming or activities, or to another social media account to chat.
To unanswered asks, I'll try but not promise to address them. Those which ended up deleted, I can only remember the one question sorry. And the answer is Sitri. Sitri would be a good HB replacement for Stolas, he's quite the love/lust expert and a focus on men. Fun chap! I had more for this answer but again, cant be arsed with this shit anymore. Sorry.
I joined a spindle critique group. What I learned is the union from bitterness isnt solid grounds for friendship. I wont go into details as it's a private and resolved matter. I shared the full log to current friends to have a neutral and raw take. These are friends I can trust will yank my chain if Im in the wrong. And they did. They spoke of the wrongs on both sides. These are folks who are guiding me to better. Folks I have trusted with the full log, full transparency. I appreciate you both and take your words into stride daily. To old friends, I would rather friends make their own choices. I never hated you, but was hurt on this other side of you. Likewise Im sorry to make you feel that way. Im sorry to have trauma dumped (recently discovered this term, and using it to manage myself better.) There was only one individual that I was given uneasy vibes on and made that clear from the start. I tried with them. For awhile, I even started to see them as a genuine friend. In the end, we were too clashing. We didn't mesh well. My initial feeling on the situation ultimately felt true. But when I open up about home issues and emotions, I dont want them weaponised. Especially as Ive been doing some irl work to find many holes in my perspective as well as others hard work in being involved with me. Things are different now. Never felt it needed in convo, I was too fixed on my own hurt. Home was self preservation at those times. I regret opening up over some personal issues. None of this absolves me of poorly handling situations and anger issues. Near the end, I felt more wary to be more open on certain things. But I shouldve been a better friend. I never liked how catty things got. Trolled. We all just became knobs in one way or another.
My ask to remove my triggers was me hoping to do good for you. Remove a trigger that would inevitably end up being a large part of the group sooner or later, maybe this summer. Especially as I 'lacked empathy'. I thought I was doing good. I never lied about it, and feel bitter that was twisted. If I explained something, I was wrong. Kept it brief, I was bitchy. I was willing to endure a trigger if it made things easier in the group, and the situation was more than a stupid ship. Ive had triggers Ive adapted to handle better now. And public, you are not entitled to my medical history however we're in an age where youre both valid and entitled to privacy yet must breach privacy to have a voice. I have an ED. A certain word wasn't even allowed in my presence without panic and flashbacks. I was a little girl then. And I managed to slowly ease the trigger word via gradual exposure - a replacement word, spelling the word, and eventually hearing the word. It - and what it has done to me - will always scar me. But I learned to handle it better in my own time. I dont need lecturing on how triggers work. Especially when each case is unique, each 'cure' is personalised. If you want to believe Im full of shit then... Do that. Im sorry for being a shitty friend at times and Im working on that, but outside opinions (note: these are done in private spaces so all parties are anon) have noted flaw on your end too. We all fucked up. The two things below the belt were the trigger claims (hence my example of my own experiences with another trigger) and my private issues shared in confidant are the two things I remain disgusted by. That doesnt justify my frustrations, dumping or behaviour. And my example is not a pity ploy either. We're separate now, and it's best that way.
Overall, being here, in this community and fandom, has done nothing but shit. Fuelled the worst in me and others (from what ive seen in public fandom spaces). I may do art and other creative endevours on spindle, but otherwise good riddance. Even if the purge is painful.
Another friend. Im in their group too. One to improve some creative skills. Appreciate being let in there, though I'll probably mainly lurk for tips. Thank you for allowing me to do so. Wording is honestly growing harder for me each day. It's helping me start the path of better expression.
Current and future
I word shit less. Not here, as this is long overdue. But trying to sum up more efficiently. Spending more time irl to improve myself and my life. Welcoming friends who we both can hold each other accountable and support. Focusing more on stuff to improve as well as enjoy. The world is so dismal. So I spend time doing other stuff. Im already mopey enough. Sorting things to refine and focus on enjoyments. Gaining skills to help others. Experienced some personal griefs/losses. And Im learning that people arent entitled to everything. Not quite there yet but Im learning. Im often in deep pain, so cant always do what I want to get done in a day.
Most likely, I will discontinue this. Besides others have been doing a brilliant job. Dont absorb yourself. You can control much of what you get exposed to, so what you can control, make it good! Have integrity, work on yourselves. Try not to be a dickhead but acknowledge where you are a dickhead and work on that. Balance is key to a healthy mind, take the good with the not so good. Take the time to simply sit outside and observe. Appreciate life. Similarities and differences. Nothing is perfect. No one is perfect. But have your standards. Learn. Grow.
Im in a lot of pain and have shit to do. Take care. I feel Viv, co, fans will only learn with drastics, haters need to learn empathy (haters as in stalker level folk), old friends Im sorry to hurt and equally feel hurt by. Best we've gone separate ways and moving on. Current friends I appreciate. That one person, please... PLEASE get help. Youre young, man- This shit is going to poison your very core. Make you into something shitty and cruel. And please treat animals with care. Me, still a twat but trying. Embrace truth, compassion and fairness with a firm angle. Or just avoid nasty shit.
Well, cya. Stay well. We're not going to be here forever.

Rules & Mun Info & Credits
Tumblr media
Rules:
Adult muns only! There will be mature content on here. I'm fine interacting with muses that are minors, but I will cut things off if I feel like it's getting weird.
Be respectful and kind and I will do the same.
Private messages are always open. Especially if you're shy or want to discuss something like plot details.
English not your first language? That's absolutely fine so long as we can communicate plenty well enough that we can understand one another. In fact, let me know if you'd rather I simplify my vocabulary and sentence structure for you. I will happily oblige.
You do not have to be an experienced rper to write plots with me. You'll always be welcome even if it's your first time.
There is no rush to reply or any kind of post requirements. Post length is up to you and I typically will mirror you. Do what you feel comfortable with and just enjoy yourself. I have a lot that occupies me from day to day, so I’ll take a while with replies, too.
Alternate and Cross Universes are totally fine.
OCs and canon characters from other fandoms are also welcome.
'You' as a self insert / reader is just as welcome.
Doubles are absolutely fine. It doesn't matter what characters I'm currently active with, your's will be welcome, too. That includes other Vergils. We could always play with ideas like doppelgangers or Blue Vergil + Red Vergil.
Crippling bodily harm and death to my characters must be talked about first. I allow it, but it'll only be true for that particular thread. Actually I encourage it.
Discord RP is very fine too if you prefer. Ask me for my discord ID.
Anyone is welcome to send asks and/or prompts. You do not have to be a role player yourself, or have the intent to role play with me. See tag list for the prompts I have reblogged. Prompt lists and ask memes don't have a use-by date, and you can send as such from lists I haven't reblogged. If you do this, please include a link to the list/meme in question otherwise I may not understand it.
Prompts and asks do not have to be based on my main canon divergent arc or Ouroboros. Please state if you want a more canon, time specific, or even muse or person specific answer. Such as a question for me where the answer is very dependent on a specific muse I interact with, maybe even your muse, or even you as in yourself. Or maybe you wish to have an answer from Vergil from DMC3, rather than Vergil from DMC5. If nothing is specified or obvious then I will choose on a whim.
You may reblog ask memes and prompts from me without sending me an ask or prompt from the list. It's very much appreciated if you do, but I don't mind at all if you don't.
Anything I answer to you can be used as a starter even if it wasn't originally meant to be. All you have to do is reblog and reply to it.
For those that wish to interact but not RP, anything can be made into solo drabbles and answers. For example maybe there's a starter sentence you'd like to send, but not for me to make a starter with you out of it, but rather to use it as a prompt for a drabble of whatever I want. Just add (SOLO - Vergil/Ouroboros) at the end of the ask in these cases. If you like this idea but wish me to write it with a pairing or even self insert / reader in mind, just indicate that too. Such as (SOLO - Vergil) or (SOLO - Ouroboros/Reader).

Yo! Mun here, I go by Kris or Greed. I'm 38, genderfluid (any pronouns are fine), and often enjoy drawing and writing. I am often busy IRL so I can be very slow at replies. I do love chatting though! My DMs and Discord is always open for that, especially if you're the type that enjoys bantering with writing ideas between our characters.

It was like a joke made by the universe, you never ending up with guys your age. It’s either their older or a bit younger than you. Of course none of those ever end well. Dating someone older just never works because you’re in two different timelines of your lives, there’s just things in life you can’t quite agree on. On the other hand, dating someone younger half of the time feels like you can never fully express yourself. You always have to be the one to understand, to adjust, to be the mature one.
The dilemma is entirely on you though. Whenever guys your age approach you, you just run the other way. You’re way too picky, so your friends say. They say you’ll never find the one for you if you keep on passing up on every opportunity.
“You think the arcade is a good place to find a guy?” you ask your friend, already not feeling good about tonight. If anything you’d rather be at home right now.
“It’s arcade night, the school council organized this so a lot of other students is here. Maybe you finally find someone cute enough to take home”
“Sounds like a start of a horror movie” you mumbled, following behind her as she squeezes her way through the crowd. She walks over the counter to get a bag to tokens for the both of you before going off on her own leaving you all by yourself.
“Just great” you mumble to yourself. Not knowing what to do, you just walk over the game machines to pass the time. You’re already here anyways might as well make it something of it.
You’re on your fourth claw machine of night, you already got a few prizes but you already gave them away to the other students who were more than happy to have them. Just when you’re about to secure the cute puppy plushie, you feel someone stand close by. Not paying that much attention, they’re probably waiting for their turn.
Clicking on the grab button twice, you secured the prize once again.
“Oh dang, I wanted to get that one” the person behind you say, turning around to offer it to him but you were a bit taken aback by him.
You’re not going to lie, he’s very handsome. Probably the most good looking person in the room. You remember your friend saying a lot of students came out tonight so you’re wondering how come you never met him.
“I think I might have set that one up for the win” he chuckles, looking at the prize in your hand “Oh sorry I didn’t know someone was playing” you answer, now feeling guilty about potentially stealing this win from him.
“Yea I just grabbed more tokens, you won fair and square though” he says with a smile. In contrast with his other strong features, his eye smile definitely stands out the most. When he smiled, his eyes disappeared almost completely.
“Here, you can have it if you want” Surprised by your offer, he didn’t immediately take the prize from you so you grabbed his arm to put it in his hand.
“Are you sure?”
“Yea totally, not really aiming for the prize. I’m just here to pass time plus my friend kinda ditched me so I have nothing else to do”
Again, he smile at you. Not really knowing what to say next you just shot him a smile before moving on to find your next prize.
“Hey, uhm you said your friend ditched you?” you hear him ask
“Yea, she kinda went off earlier I haven’t seen her since”
“If you want, I can keep you company for a while. I swear I’m not a bad guy or anything. You can check my ID to confirm that I do go to the same campus” he points at the school logo on your jacket
“I wasn’t thinking that but thanks” you chuckle,
“Oh wait, I’m Jeno by the way”
“Y/N”
“I saw the air hockey table earlier, want to go there?” you ask him
And that’s how you unexpectedly spent the rest of the night. After playing a few games and winning most of them but you doubt he’s just letting you have the win. You don’t call him out about though. To be honest, you were having a grand time with Jeno even though you just met him.
“I’m a communications major”
“Engineering”
“You’re an engineering student and you have time to be here?” he laughs at your question, “Yea, shocking right. We don’t get to have that much free time, I just so happen to finish my plates early and my roommate sexiled me for the night”
You laugh at his explanation, not expecting him to be this honest with you. ”Well you can’t be here all night, where will you go after the event?”
“Not sure, maybe stay at a convenient store or something. Rather do that than accidently walk in dorm in the middle of them doing the deed. You?”
“No roommates kicked me out, more like dragged me out here”
It’s been a good couple of hours, you probably have played all games you could.
“Hey, want to take a picture? I still have two tokens left” Jeno points at the vacant photobooth.
“Sure”
You scoot inside taking a seat first with Jeno following behind you. It was a tight space inside so you’re shoulder to shoulder with him.
“Which one do you want to do?” he asks you, pointing at the screen
“Let’s do the four cut one”
“Okay, ready?”
The screen flashes the count down
3
2
1
For the first picture both of you were smiling, after the flash the two of you burst out laughing. You didn’t hear the countdown go off so you were still laughing meanwhile Jeno was just looking at you with a small smile on his face. All he could think to himself was how cute your laugh was and how pretty you looked smiling.
That’s how the second picture came out.
The next one you hear the countdown so you calm down, looking over at Jeno only to find him already looking at you.
“What? Is there something on my face?”
Jeno just shakes his head, still smiling at you.
Click. That’s the third photo.
“Do you want to maybe go out after this? Get coffee or dinner?” he asks
If this was any other occasion, if this was any other guy you’d say no by now but something about him just made you want to say yes.
“Sure, how about dinner then coffee?” you answer with a smile. Click.
When the two of you step out of the booth and wait for the photos to develop, you exchange phone numbers to keep in touch. When the two photo strips finally drop, you take one look at it and you can already feel the blush on your cheeks.
“Cute” you hear Jeno mumble from beside you.
“You’re keeping this right?” you ask him “Of course, what else would I do with it?”
“I dunno, throw it after this”
“No way, want me to put this on our fridge door?” you laugh at his suggestion, not sure if he’s joking or not. “I’m serious”
‘Yah Lee Jeno, don’t do that” you say in between giggles, again Jeno could only think how he liked how his name sounded when you’re the one who say it.
It really was luck he decided to come out here tonight, or else he would’ve never bumped into you. Saying a mental thank you to his roommate for kicking him out tonight, he might just buy him dinner too if this night ends on a better note.
“I’ll see you again after tonight right?” he asks
“You’re taking me out for dinner right? so yea. Unless you’re too busy”
“No, no I’m not that busy”
You smile at him again, feeling like he answered too quickly.
“It’s okay if you are, it doesn’t even have to be a fancy dinner out. To be honest I prefer a simple dinner at home” you reassure him
“I’m not a good cook though” an unintentional pout forms on his lips, it took everything in you not to swoon then and there
“Good thing I am, so all is good” his face lights up once again upon hearing your words.
You’re not sure yet where this will go. It’s still too soon to tell but one thing’s for sure, Lee Jeno isn’t just some guy. He’s not lilke the rest you’ve met before, and even though you only met him you can already say it with confidence because no guy has made you feel this comfortable and safe. It’s like you know you’re safe with him.
“How about for tonight I walk you home?”
Maybe, just maybe this time the universe decided to make amends and make up for all the failed attempts with all the guys you’ve met in the past.

im here to clear up some things.
edit: just scroll to the bottom for the tl;dr cause this is a lot but i think its necessary so it doesnt seem half assed or glossed over.
if you can’t tell by the perpetual lowercase here, its mod galen! i figured i should address the drama coming on here from a different perspective. no, this isn’t mod atlas dumping all her problems on me, she’s already tried talking abt it herself - its me deciding to speak up on my own accord after seeing the shitfest my dash has become.
keep in mind - i will be happy to discuss any of this with you guys civilly, but im not going to be kind to nasty anon hate. dm us, or just send us a polite ask, and we can sort things out! if we’ve done something ignorant, i promise you we will educate ourselves and apologise sincerely.
the galen thing
first and foremost - i saw some people saying its sus that i, an nb mod, was added to the blog right after the galen debacle. it was not to save face or hide behind me! ironically, the reason i got added now of all times was because mod atlas and i were discussing what was going on, i gave my thoughts on the matter, she asked me if id be interested in being a mod!
mod atlas then thanked me for my insight and educated her on the issue and figured it would be a good idea to actually have someone in the lgbt+ community on the blog - that way, these silly ignorant mistakes will not happen again. i wont let it happen. not to mention she’s getting pretty busy in her personal life so she thought itd be a good idea to bring someone else on board.
i believe that people can learn from their mistakes - i was also hurt by that misgendering galen post. i bitched about it too. but i saw that everyone involved apologised, genuinely didn’t mean it, and promised to do better. and i’ll hold them to that! but im not gonna start talking trash abt them on other peoples blogs just bc they made a rly ignorant post. if you’re cis, i really don’t want you speaking up on this matter anymore. its not your fight. youre not in the position to forgive nor condemn any of these people. trans folk, im not going to tell you that anyone deserves your forgiveness, that’s up to you, but what they do deserve is your decent respect. unless they say theyre blatantly against trans people - aka make a deliberately transphobic statement rather than one made out of pure ignorance - in that case, all bets are off lmfao. i dont take that shit lightly and ill come for you too.
to the person who made the misgendering galen post - you know who you are, i dont want to send you any more hate than you’ve already been getting so im not going to @ you, but please. reupload your apology about the post, cause i scrolled through your blog for ages and didn’t find it - if i didn’t see it reblogged on this blog, i wouldn’t have known you apologised. i wouldn’t have felt like your blog is a safe space for nonbinary folk. its important you own up to mistakes and keep the apology there.
the nahara thing
look. im poc. im also straight up sick and tired of lovestruck’s mistreatment of dark-skinned characters, especially black characters (why do half of them look like recoloured white people....?) like nahara. its important for our representation that she does well! that way, we can get more diverse li’s on our roster in the future instead of every skinny white person getting the spotlight and 9238428903 seasons. (i love you onyx and juliette, but what the fuck.)
that being said - i dont think what mod atlas said was that bad, especially considering it wasn’t here on fansofvow, the only thing reblogged onto here being her english lesson on galen’s route with a relieved comment abt how thats a series started right.
please understand - we’ve been afraid of the new characters’ routes ever since the strike. a lot of writers left, a lot are likely to be leaving, and we’re concerned about the status of the app. this wasn’t to shoot down nahara, but out of pure relief that we’re not seeing a downwards spike in the writing quality post-strike.
that being said - if you think nahara’s route is well written, and great - thats awesome! please give her all the love for us, cause we do want her to do well. she’s just not our cup of tea. can we please respect that instead of slamming this blog’s name? nahara is still doing well, im seeing hype for her everywhere- one or two negative opinions wont change that. we’re not even going to a leave a review in-app, which is the most important form of community feedback to lovestruck.
the posts have been deleted. please, give it a rest. keep loving nahara. quit the drama.
the nikolai’s route in school thing
all the students that saw the screenshots were 18+, and none of the examples were sexual in nature. teenagers get shown romeo and juliet in school, a play ending in a double suicide, but showing adults a few lines of good writing from a 17+ app is bad? its not like she showed them a scene from a straight up porno, its just a story that happens to have sexual themes in it. its up to the students whether they read the whole story or not, and they’re mature enough to handle it. that’s all im going to say abt the matter, cause im no teacher,
and lastly...
i see a lot of people saying that we, fansofvow, need to “set an example” cause we think we’re a “fandom leader” or somehow think we’re on some high horse cause of clout? i have no idea where this started because ik for a fact mod atlas has never referred to herself as a “fandom leader” or anything like that, and guys, we’re not that up ourselves. we don’t even have tons of followers! we’re just doing our thing to support VOW. please don’t put words in our mouths.
with all that out of the way, i hope we can move on and make the community a happier place for everyone.
-mod galen
tl;dr: people make ignorant mistakes sometimes. mod atlas has apologised for reblogging the post abt misgendering galen, wants nahara to do well, only showed non-sexual writing examples of nikolai to 18+ students and never called herself a “fandom leader.”

the constant
Pairing: Nakamoto Yuta x Reader
Genre: suggestive fluff
Tags: gang!au, partnersincrime!au
Warnings: brief mentions of violence, mature content... the whole works
day 15 of 30 days with NCT
Synopsis: in which you and yuta have a love/hate relationship in the way that yes, there are times you’d stop at nothing to rip his throat out... but you’d still kill anyone who’d try to kill him.
// tryin’ to be with you is crazy // (x)
--
[23:44]
Out of all the things that were supposed to happen today, you would have never expected to be at yet another lavish party, posing as Yuta’s arm candy in an effort to catch any piece of information that could help total the yakuza your group had been having trouble with for years. On top of that, nor did you expect to have his hands teasing the edges of your thin party dress up little by little, sloppy, open mouthed kisses coaxing moan after moan from your glossed lips.
Today was supposed to be your day off. No guns, no violence, no blood, no sex, and no Yuta. Forget the perfectly tailored leather pants that hugged you in all the right ways and concealed so many dangerous gadgets, the hidden knives up your sleeves, and the eternally loaded gun always ready in your holster. Today was all about comfy sweatpants, oversized long sleeves, and all the unhealthy food you fasted from during the work week at the 127 syndicate.
The aroma of slow baked chocolate and the tiniest hint of vanilla wafted through the air, bringing a genuinely happy smile to your watering mouth. Nothing could ruin this afternoon. And then, your phone lit up, vibrated against the wood grain of the table you sat against with a ring you wished meant something - someone - else. You stuffed a piece of brownie in your mouth before pulling the device up to your ear.
"Where you at, baby girl?" Yuta's relaxed voice floated through the phone speakers like honey; smooth, sickeningly sweet, and so very easy to get addicted to. Yuta was cocky, he was confident. You supposed it was part of his charm as the infamous womanizer of the gang. Nevertheless, having to hear that almost every hour of every minute of the week was definitely part of the reason hearing his ring tone never hesitated to spark irritation in the very depths of your being. He continued. “Just thought I’d let you know I missed seeing your ass this morning at the 07:00 meeting.” Your lips curled back into a sneer, swallowing the rest of the brownie chunk you had just stuffed into your mouth.
"How nice of you to call in on my day off, sweet cheeks." Shoving the freshly baked plate of brownies back onto the counter, you hissed at your partner, not even bothering to cover the annoyance in your tone. "Thought you had another - what was it you rather me call them again? Oh right - another rendezvous this afternoon.
"Oh, that’s right. I did have something planned. If I remember correctly, it was with this hot piece of multi-million dollar eye candy, Bae Joohyun. And I was looking forward to it, too. Would’ve been an easy couple thousand.” An over exaggerated sigh pushed its way out of your partner’s infuriatingly soft lips. Had the handsome blond been right beside you, a sure smirk would have appeared on his face, challenging you, taunting you. “Too bad it got cancelled. Jealous, babe?"
"Never in a million years, dickhead,” the scoff elicited a sigh from his end of the call. “Now what do you want?"
His answer was quick, sharp and you could practically see the shit-eating grin seeping into his voice.
"Jaehyun said to be back within the hour. He and ‘Yong have a thing for us to do sometime soon. And by 'sometime soon' I mean by the end of today." Good thing you had put the brownies away a few minutes ago, the news surely would have shocked you into choking on a piece of chocolate-y heaven. Your eyes widened and your back stiffened. This must have been important. Jaehyun and Taeyong never called you or any other member in on a day off unless it was imperative to the success of the crime syndicate. “Y/N? You still on?”
"Wha- wait, Yuta, what’s going on?” Adjusting the phone so that it was in speaker mode, you quickly pulled your hair up into a sleek ponytail and ran about your studio apartment in a rush to get your work-outfit on. Pressed button down? Check. Sexy pants? Check. Dark shoes, sunglasses, and mask? Check. “Why today? Wh- I mean, what details are we working with here? What type of stuff do I need?"
“They didn’t give me much to work off of, babe, just told me to tell you to get your ass up and over to the company in 15 minutes.” The pet name flew over your head to go completely unnoticed as you stripped down to change. Gone was the playful banter the two of you shared on the daily. Yuta’s work voice was on which meant he was serious. You bit back a groan, hopping around on one foot as you tried to stuff your other foot into the pant leg.
“You said within the hour. Fifteen minutes?! Really?"
"The sooner the better, Princess. You know Jae doesn't like to be kept waiting."
Grumbled complaints fell upon deaf ears and you stuffed your company wallet and ID into your purse. “Fine. I’ll see you in fifteen.”
“Make that ten.”
“Oh my fucking- Yuta!”
--
Getting to the party had been no problem. Slipping in unnoticed hadn’t been a problem, either. Hell, even convincing everyone you were another escort and that Yuta was part of a new development in one of their small eastern groups was easy money. However, getting the information… had been posing a problem.
The rough prints Taeyong had provided the two of you with said the meeting room was more centrally located in the house. While the information you were going off of was limited, the moment the two of you wandered past the crowds of low ranking footmen and into barren hallways where only a few, higher class gang members stood guarding a door, you knew you had found what you were looking for.
A surge of confidence welled up within you and you started toward the group of men over in front of the door. You could take these pansies. However, a hand, warm and calloused from years of fighting, tugged you back into a familiar chest before you could do anything. Within seconds, his lips were on your neck, kissing and sucking dark bruises into your skin with leisure. Albeit a little taken aback, you followed your partner’s lead and tilted your neck to grant him more access.
“Ahh… Yuta…” Leaning back into his body, you crained your neck so you could shoot a hooded glare up at your partner. “As much as I love how needy you are at the most inconvenient of times-”
“Easy, princess,” Yuta murmured, smile evident in the way his voice lowered, deep and sensual against the shell of your ear. You suppressed a delicious shiver at the sensation of his hands sliding up and down your arms. “Sorry about the sudden contact, there are just a couple of guys to my five o’ clock that were looking. But those goons over there? There’s three of them, two of us. We can’t rush them like this.”
“Gr… Fine.” All of a sudden, he paused to spin you around and slam you up against the wall of the hallway, only loud enough to garner the little bit more of needed attention to the two of you. With his hands on either side of your head and his teeth teasing the flesh of your neck, you couldn’t decide whether to glare at him or kiss the dumb grin off his lips when he wedged his knee between your legs.
“How about a little... distraction?” Your eyelids fluttered when kissed you again, immediately understanding what he meant. You knew well this was all a part of the job, rolling your core up into the evident arousal forming in your partner’s pants, biting back a moan when he bent down slowly, eyes flickering over your shoulder to check on your audience... But damn, the way his clothed hips met yours had you moaning your partner’s name louder than you originally meant to.
“Oh my go- Yuta, oh fuck…” One last kiss and he pulled away, sparing you a knowing smirk before turning towards the sound of footsteps near your position. All three men surrounded the two of you, eyes trained solely on your partner.
“HEY.” A giggle threatened to slip from your mouth when you heard how high one of the guy’s voices was.
“‘Sup, man?” Yuta cocked his head, running a finger over your lips playfully before grinning up at the frowning male glaring at him, the shorter one. “Need something? Another drink? You need a light? Oh shit, have you tried any of the girls over here-”
“Cap it, dickwad,” another guy growled. You noticed Yuta’s smile drop ever so slightly and your blood began to boil. No one called Yuta ‘dickwad’ except for you. “You got 10 seconds to find another hallway to fuck this bitch in before I-”
“She’s not a ‘bitch’,” your partner grumbled before the other idiot could finish his sentence. The other man stopped and glanced at his friends in disbelief, as if he couldn’t believe a ‘low-ranking foot soldier’ dared talk back to him. You fought the urge to go for your knife when he grabbed Yuta’s collar, sneering.
“Care to repeat that, dumbass?”
“Sure, old man,” Yuta growled, eyes narrowing as he squared his shoulders in front of you. “Don’t. Call. Her. A. Bitch.”
“Why you little fuck-” he didn’t have a chance to finish his sentence, though. Because Yuta had already kicked him in the gut and threw a well-squared punch straight into his jaw, knocking him out cold. The other two rushed at him, dark eyes glowing with something dangerous - but they, too, were on the floor, unconscious within seconds.
“Come on,” he called, stepping carelessly over the unconscious bodies and towards the door. “Door’s open.” For a moment, all you could do was stare with your mouth agape at your partner. You had worked with him for the past 4 years and while so much of your time together was spent arguing, bickering over trivial things… There were moments like these that reminded you he still cared in his own way. Releasing a breath, Yuta’s shoulders visibly relaxed and he pulled the recording device out of his suit jacket.
“Wait- Yuta!” you spoke, hurrying over to your partner’s side. He turned and paused mid-stride, eyes refusing to meet yours just like the way they did every other time he did something for you. “What the fuck- I mean, what was that- I mean, wait. No. T-thank you. You… You didn’t need to beat them up.”
“Pfft, who said I was doing it for you,” he shrugged, voice back to being cocky, slinging an arm around your waist to pull you closer to the door, still avoiding your gaze. “Those guys- they were just assholes in general, they don’t know how much shit you put up with. They deserved that.”
“But still…” You trailed off, knowing he wasn’t just going to take a compliment like this. So instead, you turned towards him, cupped his chin and pressed a sweet kiss to the frown disfiguring his beautiful features. And he stopped, grabbing your waist to pull you to him once more, soft lips caressed yours. It was all part of the job, that much you knew. Playing coy, acting dumb, kicking ass, skipping days off, and kissing random strangers.
But the one constant you could always count on was Yuta. Your annoying partner who would always, always have your back.

Tomino Yoshiyuki & Hosoda Mamoru talk Ideon
February 2014: Tomino and Hosoda got together for a discussion in celebration of the first TV rebroadcast of Ideon in high definition on WOWOW (Japanese broadcast station).
Original Japanese transcript: https://www.animatetimes.com/news/details.php?id=1394807331
Tumblr media
Mr. Tomino “Mr. Hosoda is an enemy I must defeat”
The first words out of Tomino’s mouth as soon as the recording began was “Mr. Hosoda is an enemy I must defeat.”
He continued with context behind this statement, “There is a way to work hard and diligently with your peers from the same generation. If you continue to do this as you approach your 60s, however, you begin to clearly see that you’re getting older. That’s why it’s an issue if young talent doesn’t emerge.”
To this Mr. Hosoda responded, “Folks from my parent’s generation spoke to me through the shows from my childhood. Those creators that I looked up to back then continue to create work even after I, myself, have become a creator. As someone from the younger generation, I find great pleasure in this fact.” in a slightly apologetic manner.
After that, Mr. Tomino went on to discuss various topics ranging from changes in animation he experienced from his early days to the present to filmmaking theories from the vantage point of “Internet video culture” etc. Of course, there are moments where they discuss Ideon.
There is a copy of this interview on niconico: https://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm22942897
Written interview following the recording:
The effects that Ideon can have on modern society  ――First off, what are your impressions after the recorded interview?
Hosoda: I saw Ideon on TV when I was in my first year of middle school, the films in my second year of middle school. At that time, I never dreamed that I could talk about Ideon with Director Tomino himself, so I'm very honored.
Tomino: You would think that with WOWOW and cable TV stations becoming so commonplace, it would be natural for things to be rebroadcast, but that's often not the case. Therefore, I'm really grateful that my work will be broadcast in such a situation.
In this conversation, I learned that Ideon is now a stepping stone for anime directors to enter the industry. To that I can think, “I did well” and also reaffirm that “Hosoda is an enemy I must defeat,” so of course I am happy. Because without interview opportunities like this, I wouldn’t even have a place to express my happiness.
Hosoda: That’s right. If this cross interview hadn’t happened, I would’ve just been saying “Incredible!” as I watched Ideon on WOWOW by myself (laughs).
Tomino: In that sense, I'm really grateful for this interview opportunity, and I want to tell the fans, "In life, you should put in your best effort while you have the chance."
What is the reason and significance of Ideon being broadcast on TV now? ――Do you have any impressions about Ideon being broadcast on TV?
Hosoda: There aren’t many opportunities to look back at the TV series. It’s easy to take the shortcut and just watch the movie versions, A Contact and Be Invoked. This time, you can experience watching Ideon all the way from episode 1 through the movies with the image quality that matches high-definition TV, not the image quality of VHS or DVD. This is an amazing opportunity.
Tomino: Ideon is a unique series that has never been blessed with such an opportunity so as you said, this chance is certainly valuable.
Hosoda: Since A Contact exists, it’s tempting to use it as a shortcut….if possible, it may be better to skip A Contact when you watch (laughs).
Tomino: You’re right! Cancel the broadcast of A Contact immediately!
Everybody: (laughs)
――34 years have passed since Ideon broadcast in 1980. How does modern society look from Mr. Tomino's point of view? Also, I would like to hear about the significance of broadcasting Ideon after 34 years.
Tomino: This is going to become a question of “what is intelligence?” but I feel that the political economy has deteriorated in every aspect over the last few years. So when it comes to airing an Ideon-like story right now, there is a part of me that doesn’t consider this a simple rerun of a past show. Rather, I would like you to watch Ideon and reconsider the current situation of adults.
For example, our personal computers that we use in our daily lives cannot be used without entering a password. Don’t you think it’s strange that there are tools that you can’t use without entering a password? Because I bought that laptop exercising my own rights in the form of cash yet I still need to enter a password. In a worse example, when you are using software, sometimes you get a popup saying “Click here to make it easier to use.” I don’t think this can be considered a “tool” anymore. But is there anyone who has complained about it until today?
If this situation progresses, you may be told by a manufacturer that they hold the copyright to your work because you used their software to produce it, even though you made it yourself. What would you do if you were told that?
Looking back at the current situation, the reality is that we are infringing on our personal territory. I think it is dangerous for everyone to be calm against such a reality. As the times progress, the way of looking at things and attitudes have become very vague. With that in mind, it can be said that the intellectual level of humankind has deteriorated in the last 20 years.
――So in that sense, the work Ideon appeals to young people today?
Tomino: I believe so, yes.
Hosoda: Some work have fluctuating value depending on changes in society while others remain relevant even as the world changes. I think Ideon is a work that doesn’t change, so I think people today of any situation or cultural background can enjoy it equally.
The two masters discuss each other’s influences ――How was Mr. Hosoda influenced by Ideon?
Hosoda: I wonder if there are other works that deal with such huge themes as Ideon does, including all movies and television. If you look through various works by tracing the history of movies, movies like 2001: A Space Odyssey (released in 1968) would pop up but I personally watched Ideon first and A Space Odyssey afterwards.
Through watching animation, you can have a second encounter with the history of live-action film. Knowing Ideon first will give you a better, deeper understanding of film history.
I feel that these encounters are connected to the current movie-making me.
――Mr. Tomino, what kind of points do you want to refer to from the works of Mr. Hosoda's generation?
Tomino: Since you saw my work first and later watched 2001: A Space Odyssey, you must have thought about "what that means.” When I watched 2001: A Space Odyssey, I felt that there was something missing in the movie, and thought about how to complement it, so I made Ideon. I am able to create work like this because I am a craftsman who creates through combining things rather than from a writer’s standpoint.
In my case, thanks to the genres of TV animation and giant robots, I was able to [create Ideon] using 2001: A Space Odyssey as a base. However, because I was able to pull that off, I experienced the history of my deterioration from there.
Also, just as Ideon was made under the influence of 2001: A Space Odyssey, Director Hosoda's work gave me a new kind of inspiration, "Oh, current animators are doing things in this way." That's why I have to get stubborn and think of Hosoda as the enemy.
――As the pioneer yourself, it seems like a difficult feat to admit to younger people that you’ve acknowledged them as a threat?
Tomino: Perhaps I had such a time. At this age, I just think I'm great in the sense that I’ve matured enough to say things like that (laughs).
At the same time, I'm really grateful that there are people close to me that I can say such things to. When you hate people, those feelings of hatred eventually come back to you. That's why people have to love everyone.
Hosoda: The things that Ide was trying to eradicate were those kinds of (feelings of hate), isn’t it?
Tomino: That’s right.
Mr. Tomino discusses now, Gundam and Ideon ――What kind of positions in Mr. Tomino‘s heart does Ideon and Gundam take respectively?
Tomino: It is thanks to the existence of Gundam that I have had a somewhat stable life so I am frankly grateful on that end. On the other hand, Ideon is a work that gives me pride, “the Tomino who made such a thing is amazing.” If Gundam was the only thing that existed, the statement at the beginning of the interview, “Hosoda should be defeated” would’ve been a message filled with hateful intentions. It would've not been said from a place of joy as it is now.  …..Wow! I answered this question well (laughs).

Somewhere Over the Rainbow
Hello one and all! I’m considering this fic as part of my Second Generation series because... well, you’ll see. That’s why you’ll find it on the second gen masterlist and not my normal one. I’ve talked a lot about how I headcanon Cinder as a closeted singer, and someone requested I write about Kai finding out she can sing. 1936 words of fluff and adorableness.
Second Gen Masterlist masterlist
Kai yawned and stretched his arms above his head as he walked across the terracotta tiles in the narrow hallway. The low ceiling made him almost feel claustrophobic. He couldn’t help wondering why Cinder liked it down here so much. Well, he knew why, but still.
He stuffed his hands back into the pockets of his uncomfortable dress slacks. He’d much rather wear jeans around the palace when he had no one “important” to see, but Torin always said he had to be ready to be in public at a moment’s notice. With another yawn he rounded the next corner. The hallway widened, ceiling growing higher, and Kai felt himself breathing better.
The lights flickered above, but he didn’t mind that so much. Kai knew the wiring down here was older and more faulty than in the rest of the palace.
What he was concerned about was the fact that it was past three in the morning and his wife had yet to come to bed. It wasn’t unlike Cinder to stay up late tinkering, or even lose track of time even though she had clock in her head, but now more than ever he had cause for concern.
Kai had commed her several times, as did Iko, but neither heard a word from her since before midnight.
It was only fifteen minutes ago that he begrudgingly asked security to track down where Cinder’s ID chip was. He shouldn’t have been surprised to learn that Cinder was in the garage, yet he was.
She was supposed to be taking it easy.
Making it to the end of the hall, Kai was about to walk through the open door when he heard something.
His brow furrowed in confusion.
Was that…?
No it couldn’t be.
In the almost seven years they'd been together and two they’d been married, Kai never heard her sing. He honestly wouldn’t believe she could it if he weren’t so positive that was his wife’s voice.
Kai peaked his head inside the door just to be sure.
Across the room, Cinder sat at a workbench. Grease-stained cargo pants covered her legs and her hair was up in it’s usually sloppy ponytail. Loose strands of mousy brown hair fell out, covering her forehead and sides of her face. Her metal hand held a wrench as she twisted a bolt into an android’s head.
She looked almost exactly the same as the day they met at her mechanic booth. The only difference was that her features were a bit more mature now, a bit fuller and healthier. Well… that and her swollen stomach. She was only four months pregnant, but she looked closer to seven with how fast their baby was growing inside of her.
How Cinder appeared wasn’t what shocked him though. No he was used to her being covered in grease and grime from the garage. What shocked him was the fact that she was singing.
Kai knew Cinder had many talents. She was an excellent mechanic. Despite what she thought of herself she made a wonderful Queen of Luna and an even better Empress of the Commonwealth. She was smarter than most people Kai knew. And there was much else he didn’t have the brain power to list at the moment.
But singing?
Cinder being a good--no beautiful--singer was not on the list of talents he knew she possessed.
Kai silently leaned against the door frame, watching her work and listening to her sing a soft tune. It sounded like something from a movie in the second era. Oh, what was it called? He racked his brain for the name of it, but once again he was too tired to think properly.
Maybe that was it. Maybe he was dreaming up this whole thing. He’d wake up and she’d be sleeping next to him in bed.
Cinder set the wrench down and inspected her handiwork, still singing to herself. “Where troubles melt like lemon drops, way above the chimney tops.” She put the small android down on the bench then rested her hands on her belly.
She smiled, rubbing the bump for a few seconds before pushing herself up from the stool. A yawn fell from her lips, but she sang through it.
Kai could see a grease stain on her cheek and smiled too.
Cinder turned toward the door and stopped singing the second her eyes landed on him. Her mouth opened and closed a few times before she was able to get words out. “Kai. I… I, why aren’t you sleeping?”
Was she embarrassed?
She had a beautiful voice, there was absolutely no reason for her to be embarrassed.
“I came down to ask you the same question.” He moved away from the door frame and walked over until he was close enough to put his hands on her hips. Which he did. “You’re supposed to be taking it easy, Cinder. Dr. Lee said your blood pressure was high last time.”
Momentary humiliation forgotten, Cinder rolled her eyes at his fussing. “I’ve been sitting the entire time. I’m fine.”
“It’s still three in the morning. And we’ve been up since 6. I think you should sleep in tomorrow. I can take your meetings.” He really didn’t want her pushing herself too hard. As much as Kai despised talking to President Vargas, he’d rather deal with him than have Cinder bedridden because she worked herself too hard.
“I took a long nap this afternoon. Kai, I’m okay. Really.” She reached her flesh hand up to his cheek and stroked her thumb over his skin. “But I would like to get going to bed now, if you don’t mind.”
“Not at all. I’ve been waiting for you for two hours.”
She pursed her lips. “You could’ve gone to bed without me you know. Or gotten me sooner.”
He should have gotten her sooner. A note to himself for next time then: if Cinder’s not in bed by midnight, find her and drag her to bed if he has too. Well, he wouldn’t be able to drag her. Even pregnant, she was much stronger than him.
“I know. I will next time,” he promised.
She sighed, letting her hand fall from his face down to one of his hands. “I’m okay, you know.”
They both knew that was a lie. She was pushing herself when she had absolutely no reason to. The question remained: why? That’d have to be a conversation for another night. Right now he had to get her--and himself--to bed.
“Let’s get to bed.”
They left the garage, lights automatically turning off when they stepped out, then headed back the way Kai came.
When they got to the main palace, Kai glanced at Cinder with a smile. “So… were you ever going to tell me you could sing?”
Cinder looked at him out of the corner of her eyes. He was sure that if she could, she’d be blushing right then. He didn’t understand why though. Her voice sounded lovely.
“I wasn’t planning to.”
“Why not?” He wasn’t offended she didn’t want to tell him. He respected her privacy. But he was curious why she didn’t want him to know she could sing. If she was bad at it, then he could understand, but "bad” was the last word he’d use to describe her singing.
“I don’t know. No one knows, and I planned on keeping it that way, I guess.” She shrugged her shoulders as they stepped into the elevator then lifted her wrist to the scanner. There was a soft chime, before it started moving up to their floor.
“Iko doesn’t know?”
She laughed. “Aces no. If Iko knew I could sing, she’d want to do karaoke every single night, and I don’t have the energy for that.”
The elevator doors opened and they walked down the hall to their suite. They both went straight to the walk in closet to put on more comfortable clothes. Cinder started brushing her hair in front of the mirror.
Kai wrapped his arms around Cinder, pulled her back against his chest, and rested his chin on her shoulder. His hands moved over her stomach. “How is she?” he whispered.
Setting the brush on the dresser in front of them, Cinder leaned back into his embrace. “She’s good, I think.”
He pressed a kiss to Cinder’s shoulder. “Good. Ready for bed?”
“Mhm.”
They left the closet and crawled into bed beneath the warm duvet. Kai laid on his back, and pulled Cinder next to him. Her right leg tangled with his and her arm wrapped around his stomach. She closed her eyes and rested her head on his shoulder.
“What song were you singing earlier?” he whispered.
She yawned, nuzzling further into him. “Somewhere Over the Rainbow. It’s from the Wizard of Oz.”
“I knew it was from an old movie, but I couldn’t remember which one.”
“Peony and I used to watch it together, back before I had to start working. We’d sing along and she’d pretend to be Dorothy, and I’d be the Good Witch, and Iko would be Toto. Sometimes Pearl would join us, but she told me I had to be the Tin Man because, well, you know…”
Kai frowned. He’d heard a lot of terrible things about Cinder’s adoptive family but here’s yet another thing that broke his heart for her.
“In my mind I was always Dorothy though,” she mumbled. “I was going to click my heels and be somewhere else. Somewhere that felt like home.”
Kai held her a little tighter and pressed a kiss to her temple. “Do you feel home now?”
“More than I have in my entire life.”
Silence followed for a while and Kai almost thought Cinder fell asleep. He was wrong though. Cinder started to hum the song again, the melody relaxing him.
Just as she got to the chorus there was a slight bump against his side, making Cinder stop again. “Kai,” she breathed.
“Hm?” He opened his eyes and looked down at her. When did he close his eyes? He must’ve been more tired than he thought.
“She just kicked.”
His eyes widened. “That was…?”
“Yeah.”
Kai shifted, frantically put both of his hands on her belly and hoping to feel their daughter kick again.
Cinder beamed, putting one of her hands over his.
They anxiously waited for her to move again. As the seconds ticked by, nothing happened.
“Sing again,” Kai said.
“What?”
“Try it.”
Cinder sighed, but started to sing again. At the word “rainbow” they felt another little kick against their hands, and she kept singing.
Moving down the bed, Kai smiled as he pressed a kiss to her belly. “Hi there, beautiful,” he whispered. “You like the sound of mommy’s voice, don’t you?” He heard Cinder laugh softly as she sang, but he ignored her. “I do too. I didn’t know just how beautiful it was until today.”
“You’re a sap,” Cinder said.
He lifted his head then moved back up her body to pull her into his arms. “Only for you.”
She smiled, tilting her neck to press a soft kiss to his lips. “Uh huh.” Cinder laid back down and closed her eyes. “Go to sleep, we have to get up in three hours.”
There was no way Kai was waking her up in the morning. She could sleep while he took her vid call with Vargas. He reached over to turn off the bedside lamp. Settling back into the pillows, he buried his face into her hair and closed his eyes. “Love you.”
“Love you too.”
Kai fell asleep to the sound of her breathing and the hope of hearing his wife sing again soon.

i see a lot of 13 yr olds on tumblr these days, so id like to share some advice i wish i had known using tumblr at age 13.
this is also probably not an original idea from me lol, someone has got to have done this before. i would usually put this under a cut but ive decided not to for now
be aware that this site is like NOTORIOUSLY harmful. you may think you’re above it or too mature for it to hurt you, but trust me, you aren’t. since you will probably not be stopped by that warning, maybe take some precautions/keep some stuff in mind to stay safe.
i had tumblr savior for my first experiences with the site. im pretty sure it still works and it’s regularly updated, so take a look into that. it blocks posts with certain keywords from being seen on your radar, and can also push/allow posts with other keywords to always be shown. i would advise getting it or a similar extension to custom block triggering/harmful content.
don’t put other/more popular users in your fandom/community on a pedestal. they’re people behind a blog, just like you are. don’t feel intimidated by the people in your own community, they are just people the same way you are a person. they can mess up at times, and so can you.
making friends is a great thing on this site, but keep an eye on new online friends’ behaviors. it is exciting to meet new people, but you want to be aware of toxic friends. same goes for your mutuals. overall, keep people on this site at an arm’s length until you’ve gotten to know them enough personally to know that they’re genuine people. as you get older you can relax on this, but as a young teen it’s better to be hyperaware than to be blissfully ignorant as you get hurt.
onto more broad things, your theme doesn’t have to be perfect. you dont have to make a custom html/edited html website theme for your blog, you can leave it as tumblr default. if you enjoy organizing that, then by all means go ahead! but don’t feel like it is necessary for your blog, most of the time you will get a new theme set up and check on it on a month and find that it actually looks terrible to you. if you’d rather just have it as a basic/default site, then that is perfectly normal.
your blog’s theme/topic is your choice, and can be uniquely you. some people have many blogs for many things, just a few, or just one with everything. it is up to you how you want to do it! the themes you choose, topics, are up to you. fads and trends are cool but finding what works for you personally is way more fun. your blog is supposed to be fun. you are supposed to enjoy using tumblr. don’t compromise that for a trend. make your blog(s) however you want, however it pleases you. it can feel pressuring to have a perfect blog, but it’s better to just make your appearance the way it would make you happy.
also, tag systems are awesome! but they are not necessary unless you’re tagging trigger warnings. always tag those! but i know a lot of people have personal tagging systems to organize their blog, which is totally cool! but again, personal tag systems are not necessary, and if they feel unnecessary to you, don’t use them. but again, tag triggering content, especially if you are asked to.
archiving/deleting/creating new blogs is a whole other process. some people like to start with a clean slate every time they switch to a new fandom, and let their old user be archived or deleted. this is perfectly respectable (and probably the right thing to do) personally, i just switch my blog over to whatever im feeling that month and people can unfollow if they no longer enjoy my blog (i dont have that big of a following on this blog). it’s really a personal decision, and if you want to restart your blog you will know when to/if you want to.
reblog art, but never “repost” it. aka dont take the image and post it on your own blog, just reblog it from the original poster. its common sense but not everyone knows? idk
if you end up having some or many followers, make sure to check yourself. appreciate your followers, respect them. they are people with blogs. just like you. don’t let a high number inflate your ego way out of proportion, it’s easy to fall into that sense of power.
respect people’s pronouns. even if you for some reason have a disagreement with them, or you don’t understand why/how their identity works, just use the correct pronouns that they ask you to. it costs you zero dollars and zero cents, and is incredibly respectful
as a young teen, don’t get involved/let yourself get buried in tumblr-wide discourse. examples of this include the bi vs pan debate, flag discourse etc. most ppl who i know who were attentive to things similar to that at a young age ended up being affected negatively by it. pay some attention to what pertains to you and also pay attention to what you can identify as right or wrong, but don’t let people’s opinions on your dash influence you in times of discourse. go and look at both sides of those kinds of debates if you’re interested, and form an opinion from there.
speaking of which, sometimes people will just post their takes on literally anything and youll come across it. take everything with a grain of salt unless there is links to proof (if applicable, not always needed). sometimes bad takes just havent had someone to reblog and disprove yet.
speaking of discourse, there is always discourse on this site in every fandom, every community. form your own opinions always, but keep your moral compass in mind. don’t compromise your morals and sense of right and wrong to enjoy certain fan-media. if something seems off, it probably is.
people make mistakes, and if someone did something kind of shitty/had a terrible take/belief (not irredemably shitty, those ppl do not need ur attention) and they genuinely apologize for the shit they did and learn from it, move on. leave some shit in the past, holding grudges isnt good for your mental health and people change. but again, always take things with a grain of salt.
you dont need a high follower count to get traction on your posts. it might help, but you can have a low follower count with high interaction or a high follower count with little to know interaction. the best advice i have is to tag what it is relevant to, whether it’s a fandom, aesthetic, etc and people who regularly check those tags will find it.
if you ever get anon hate for some reason, just delete it from ur inbox n move on. ppl who send anon hate want to see you post it and respond to it. if they said some really really MEAN shit though, it may be best to talk to a friend about it for comfort, or take a break from tumblr for a hot min. most importantly, report it, close your ask box/change it to no anonymous asks.
if at some point you choose to voice your opinion about a highly debated topic at the time, be aware that people who disagree might attack you for it. be aware, and be safe about it.
a lot of people swear by xkit. i have never used it in my life, but from the looks of it, it makes using tumblr so much more bearable. it breaks sometimes with tumblr updates, but apparently it’s worth it. again, look into it, but it’s not necessary to use the site.
do niche shit. start sideblogs without a plan in mind. make aus, make art, make writing, or make nothing at all. reblog the things you love wherever you want them to be reblogged. comment on people’s creations if you love them, they probably would love to hear how much you enjoyed it. appreciate how wonderful the better part of this site is, enjoy the free access to view and appreciate others’ creations and ideas.
i would put a lot more on here, but i feel like 20 is probably too much already. if anyone has anything to add, definitely rb with ur addition
overall, do the things you love on here, keep yourself safe, and be respectful of others.

In defense of Princess Jasmine
Tumblr media
Apologies for this being late.
So where do I start with this one? I guess after seeing the reactions about the Aladdin movie, and then seeing how people changed their tune, and it got to me, a bit more. See Aladdin has a special place in my heart, being the Disney Animated movie that I connected to the most. It’s my favorite followed by Robin Hood and the Black Cauldron, and when I was reading the reaction to Jasmine, I was rather surprised by some of the hostility, since the whole place is an amalgam of different cultures and the original story itself seems to be a mixed story as well.
I have to say this though, Jasmine, in Aladdin, isn’t the lead. Her role is important, and clearly a huge part of the overall story for Aladdin, but she’s not the main lead. This story wasn’t about her learning and changing, although she does, but about Aladdin learning to be himself. So it’s weird when people lambast Jasmine about the movie, but ignore her more prominent role in the animated show, which is part of the cannon. It’s also strange to me that she gets hit with a lot of comments that you would fling at a lead character, but her role is more akin to the roles of the Princes in the Disney Movies. Jasmine is, for the most part, like Jane from Tarzan, and a character that aids Aladdin in maturing and becoming the person that he needs to be, rather than the lead herself. This drastically changed in the new movie, as she’s become a sort of a co-protagonist in the story.
So where to start here I guess on one of the bigger things I hear about Jasmine:
1.       Jasmine is too sexy for a teenager.
Tumblr media
Here’s the thing, Jasmine isn’t a teen, or at least that’s not what was in the movie. Her father specifically says “You must be married, to a prince, by your next birthday.” Leaving it open to guess what her birthday is. In recent years the Princesses Line gave her the age of 16, so while it’s official it’s not official (I know weird), whereas it’s hinted that Aladdin himself is 18 at oldest. The thing is that her outfit, while not traditional or historically accurate, is based more on the older idea of Arabian style costumes associated with Hollywood. Look at any of the movies from the late 1930s and into the 1970s and you’ll see that the designs for Jasmine’s outfit seem to be very much in line from the old swashbuckling epics of that period.
Tumblr media
Jasmine, for the most part, doesn’t act sexual at all in the movie. Rather most of the time she’s actively trying to learn more about her people and the world outside of the palace. Allowing for her tiger to tear off the pants of the young prince, sneaking out against the rules of her father, and easily following Aladdin around the city, “I’m a fast learner.” Showing that she has a great deal of wit and intelligence for someone raised in a “gilded cage.”
Tumblr media
The only time she uses her sexuality is as a distraction for Aladdin and the reaction to her kissing him is one of utter disgust from other members of the hero’s band, Genie with the Jaw drop, Abu with an “eww” sound, and Aladdin himself in some state of shock. Showing that this was not something that could be seen as a sexualized thing, more of something that would be seen as “gross” to those that were seeing it and clearly not the most appetizing thing for Jasmine to do herself. Moments later we see her actively trying to pull the snake scepter away from Jafar, indicating that she’s willing to put herself in harm's way to save her friends, and it’s only when he knocks her back and traps her in a sand hourglass, that Jasmine isn’t willingly trying to find ways to get out of her situation. She’s constantly, prior to Aladdin and the others coming in, making faces that show she’s utterly disgusted with Jafar, and it’s clear that the outfit he has her it is for his own amusement to humiliate her. The look is actually one that matches the outfits worn by the girls in, what appears to be, a brothel of sorts, that we meet early on in the movie during the ‘One Jump song’.
Therefore, at no time does Jasmine willingly flaunt herself, or act overtly sexual in the movie, outside of the one distraction scene.
Tumblr media
Jumping over to the TV show, we see her actively fight alongside her friends, and the only time she’s wearing an outfit that’s similar to the look for what she wears in Jafar’s throne scene is the black outfit that she starts to wear during the time she’s being controlled by Mozenrath and believes she’s a bad guy. Then later that’s used for sneaking around on covert missions where black would be the look that would work best during night.
2.       Jasmine is always in danger and needs saving.
The only times this at all happens in the movie is really when she is threatened to have her hand cut off, and later when she’s trapped inside a sand hourglass and is going to die from suffocation.
Tumblr media
Never once, in the show, or the movie, does Jasmine gives up and not try to fight for herself. In the movie, outside of those two instances, Jasmine is always ready to stand up for herself and others. Even if it means getting into trouble. For example, in the moment when the vender is threatening her before Aladdin comes in, she tries to explain why she did what she did, and even after she’s grabbed she tries to pull away from him. Later in the Hourglass she’s banging on the glass and looking for ways to get out, up until she’s completely buried in the sand. When she and Aladdin are being chased, she actively pulls off her disguise in order to save him, and later goes to confront Jafar chastising him for his actions and reminding him that once she’s the queen she’s getting rid of him, and he knows it, “Or worse beheaded.”
Tumblr media
Jasmine doesn’t screw around, in the show she actively fights with a sword, got into a full-on tussle with Sadira (a fellow enemy turned friend). Worked insanely hard to try to undo a curse on herself as she’s turning into a Snake and was willing to let Aladdin go to allow him to not have to deal with the pain she was dealing with turning into a snake. She’s fought with not only Mozenrath but saved Aladdin a number of times in the show, along with her father.
Tumblr media
Jasmine, I would say, is the most adventure driven of the Princesses, outside of say, Kida, and possibly Moana, and Mulan. So the idea that she needs to be saved seems out of place to me.
Tumblr media
The thing about Aladdin is that a good part of the movie seems to be focusing on movie musicals from the 1950s in regard to the story structure and aspects about it. Modern viewers tend to ask why a lot of the movie doesn’t seem to focus on the traditions of the location where it’s supposedly taking place from. One of the reasons, I think, is because it’s supposed to invoke that sort of movie from that period of time. It’s not supposed to be a classic piece based on tradition, rather it’s designed to be an ode to the Hollywood epics of yore with, at the time, a more modern twist in regard to how American and western audiences at the time viewed roles for boys and girls in various ways. By the end of the movie, the Sultan has learned that some traditions need to be bucked and changed to bring his kingdom forward into a modern age where his daughter can have some control over her destiny. In the newest movie, along with the musical, that’s been pushed even farther by outright saying that Jasmine will be ruler and Aladdin is Prince Consort, making her very much like the Queen of England and her husband.
Tumblr media
What’s interesting to me is that not enough people look to the animated series to see the growth of the characters from the movies. Jasmine advances more in her development here, learning about her people and the kingdoms around her. She’s shown to be far more willing to listen to things, and be less stubborn than her father, and can actually explain things to him. As per the episode where she was taken by a “god” like being who the Sultan took a rose from, and, upon his defeat, after Jasmine had spent time with him, she expressed grief over his loss and that her father’s actions were really in the wrong, and that he should learn from others rather than assuming that they were monsters, to begin with.  It’s a story that has a lot going on with it and a strong message for kids.
Tumblr media
Jasmine, by the time the Forty thieves movie has come about, is older and wiser, and she’s able to fully understand Aladdin’s desires to find out about his father and bring him to their wedding. This is not the same girl that snuck out of the palace from the first movie, this is a young woman who’s matured enough to understand how family is an important part of her husband’s life and his need to know where he comes from. This is something I don’t think enough people actually look into when they start writing about how Jasmine is not a good role model.
Tumblr media
Another thing about Jasmine is that like Philip before her, she rejects the notion of how the world is working right now. She wants to connect to her people and even falls in love with a boy who is poor and below her station. While yes Aurora is a princess, this is not something he knew about when he fell for her, and the same is for Aladdin. Jasmine falls for him even though she actively knows he’s beneath her station and the reaction from her in regard to all this is “I want to marry for love,” which would mirror Phillips “Father it’s the 14th century,” showing that both view the idea of being in love and married for love over an arranged union as a stronger and better thing in their version of the modern world.
Tumblr media
It’s something that makes Jasmine unique among all the other princess, excepting Kida, in that she is not the main character in the story. Or rather she, like Philip, plays a significant role, but her story is on the side and is important, but the changes the viewpoint we mostly go through is Aladdin’s. As with Atlantis, Milo is the main POV, and Kida is the character that comes in to explain what we’re seeing. The only character I can think of that follows this idea is Esmeralda, who, again, plays a huge role in the story but isn’t the main POV of the story of the Hunchback. It’s something that Jasmine has that makes her aspect in the following animated show more interesting as a number of episodes are from her POV and show her as The protagonist in the Animated series. We see her grow alongside Aladdin, wherein the movie, she does grow some in her character, in that she learns about trusting in some ways, it’s more about him and his story.

Tom – I am not sure when you will get to see the interview, let me know what you think when you do. x
Tom pressed send and lay back on the bed, reading over the lines for his voice work he would continue in the morning. When his phone went off, he thought it was Luke, and answered. “Well, do you approve?”
There was a moment of laughing before a voice came on. “I loved it.”
He leant forward. “Elle?”
“Obviously, didn’t you check your caller ID?”
“Honestly, no. I thought you were Luke.”
“Well, sadly I am not; I am just me.”
“I happen to like ‘just’ you.” He smiled.
“I happen to like you too.” She smiled back.
“So the gorilla suit did not turn you off?”
“No, it was weird but fun.”
“Well, I have some bad news.” There was silence on the other end of the line. “Elle?”
“What, what is it?” she sounded terrified.
“It’s gone.”
“The suit?”
“The longer hair and facial hair.”
“No!”
“I’m sorry, darling.”
“Why?”
“Because of work.”
“But it is stupid o’clock in the night there, how the hell did you get a barber.”
“It’s LA, darling, anything is available at any time, so long as you flash the cash.”
“I am not talking to you now.” Danielle declared.
“Elle…” Silence met his plea. “Darling…”
“Stop calling me that, you are in the dog house.” She stated petulantly.
“Elle…”
“Not interested.”
“When I get home, you won’t be able to ignore me.”
“That sounds kinky.” She seemed to forget her annoyance for a moment.
“It was not meant to be, but clearly you like it, so it’s a promise now.” he grinned. “I wish it didn’t have to be so long.”
“You are going checking on little children in a war-torn area of Africa, I am safe here at home, go get the world looking at them, help them, Tom, we can have fun when we come home, at least you get to leave again, they don’t.”
“You should come out as a healthcare working for a week, they could do with you and your big heart.”
“I am not a nurse or doctor, emergency care is far less of an issue in those camps, they need vaccines and food and shelter, not me,” She dismissed.
“How is Mum?”
“Your mom is great, there has been no more about the incident, she’s acting as she always did, but Emma…she’s a little pissed at the moment.”
“Why?”
“Because her friend is fucking her brother.”
“She doesn’t own you; I am not stealing you from her.”
“I know love, but it’s weird for her, she is just worried. I feel guilty, I had not thought of her, she will feel odd in this, even if we were to be happily married with a couple of kids, it is weird for her.” Danielle commented.
“Three.”
“What?”
“I want three kids.”
“I thought you said you hated being in that situation, with two sisters.”
“And Emma hated being six years younger, that’s true.” Tom conceded
“So two then, close together?”
“Or four,” Tom argued, the grin on his face obvious through the phone, “it’s all about problem-solving, Darling.”
“For the record, I am not interested in having more kids than I have hands to hold onto them.”
“You’re an only child, you don’t understand the need for siblings, and don’t twins run in your family?”
“Don’t even joke about that; and I was happy as an only child, everyone I knew with siblings seemed to be fit to kill them as often as they were happy.” She commented. “Are we really having ‘that conversation’ already, from across the world?”
“I think we are.” Tom grinned. “So, what else would you like, given the chance?”
“If it was with you?”
“Assume all of this is us thinking aloud about where we want this to go, what we want from this aspect of our lives.”
“I know you can’t leave London, you need to be close to there at least.” She sounded slightly unhappy about that.
“You rather not live in the city?”
“I am a country mouse.”
“Leafy suburb then; with parks for Mac and good schools, good compromise?”
“Yes, and not too far from Ben and Sophie.”
“North London it is so.”
“That’s more expensive, though.”
“The best places usually are.”
“And my place?”
“Well, that is up to you. It would be great to have a place so close to mums, but if we did both live in London when we would visit, she would be adamant we stay with her.”
“This is all very mature and long-term talk for this hour.”
“It’s only midnight here?”
“And eight in the morning here.”
“Are you getting anxious and changing the topic?”
“No…”
“Elle?”
“I want my furniture.” She answered childishly.
“I would never argue that.” He smiled, knowing she was just slightly scared. “When the time is right, would you want to move in with me?”
“I think so.”
“‘Think’?”
“I never lived with a guy before.”
“What?”
“Bar my dad, I never lived with a guy.”
“Why?”
“Just the way it was because my parents lived a bus journey from college, I stayed with them for that.”
“That’s, wow, seriously? You seem alright with me being there.”
“I have had a boyfriend before, thank you, staying overnight isn’t hard.”
“So your first time living away from home was in Suffolk, in your own house.” She hummed in confirmation. “That must have been hard, you never said anything.”
“I did, several times, to your mum and Emma anyway; but you, I don’t recall it coming up with us.”
“I wish I spent more time around you before now.”
“Well, there’s no need to worry about it, it’s the past.” Danielle dismissed. “So, when are the Grammy nominations out?”
“Soon enough.”
“Do you think you have a chance?” She asked excitedly.
“As much as I know this is a diversion tactic, I am going to allow it. I know The Night Manager as a whole has a good chance.”
“And you?”
“I am not sure.”
“I loved it.”
“It had my ass on display; you have made it clear you love anything as long as my ass is involved.”
“It is a most delectable derriere.” Danielle agreed.
“I hope I get it.”
“It is a good possibility.”
“Not a shoo-in?” Tom inquired.
“You can never say for definite, someone could pay off a judge.” She commented.
“And if no one does?”
“If no one pays off a judge, and if you are nominated, I would place a bet on you.”
“You’re not much of a gambler.”
“Not usually, but 2016 was a good year for you love.”
“Really?” Tom asked sceptically.
“I refuse to acknowledge any of that stuff as negative anymore.”
“I don’t follow.”
“Don’t let negative and toxic people rent space in your head, raise the rent and kick them out.”
Tom chuckled, “Where did you find that?”
“Random quote on Facebook, but I am using it. You went out with Taylor, I assume you had some fun, you went to some nice places, it happened, it’s over, nothing more, nothing less. I don’t care, it was before us, now we have us, so in all, it looks like you had a good enough year.”
“Some parts were definitely better than others, but overall, yes, it was a good year.”
“So, The Night Manager is of 2016, and as such, will do well.” She smiled.
“Elle.”
“Yes, Tom.”
“I cannot wait to come home, and when I do, I cannot wait to show you how much I love and miss you.”
“I look forward to it.”
“Are you at work?”
“I am,” She sighed. “I hope to have the weekend off when you come back from Sudan.”
“And if not?”
“I am stuck working I’m afraid. But the good news is, I’m off longer for Christmas now, we are ahead of schedule.”
“Where are you based?”
“At home.”
“I mean for the shoot.”
“Wales, some random spot in the middle of nowhere.”
“Is there a possibility I could come to you?”
“What if you are seen?”
“Elle…”
“I am just scared.”
“Who will notice me?”
“The cast and crew.”
“Will they care?”
“Probably not, I mean we do have actual famous people here.” She joked, giggling down the phone.
“Excuse you, and what am I?” she just giggled in response for a moment.
“When are you off to Sudan?”
“Wednesday.”
“Promise me you will try to be safe, and try to keep that really nice smile on for those kids.”
“What smile?”
“The one that lights up your eyes and gives you wrinkles around them, the one that makes others around you smile, they need that.”
“I will do my best.”
“I love you, Tom, promise me you will email or text if you get a chance, even just the words ‘It’s Hot’.”
“I will do so every day.”
“Whenever you get a chance will suffice, goodnight Tom.”
“I love you too Elle, I cannot wait until I get back and we get to have fun over Christmas, goodnight, darling,” he smiled, hanging up the phone, he lay on his pillow and smiled sadly to himself, hating that it would be a couple of weeks before he saw her again.

Danganronpa Kirigiri (3) - Chapter 1, Part 2
Table of Contents | Previous: Chapter 1, Part 1
Kyoko was absent again the following day.
I brought up my concerns with her homeroom teacher and the nuns in charge of the academy, but none of them took me seriously. They didn’t realize the severity of the situation.
If Kyoko remained missing, what was I to do? Was I capable of fending off the Crime Victims’ Salvation Committee all by myself? Or, was it better to feign ignorance and turn a blind eye to the menace lurking in the shadows, returning to leading a completely average life?
The latter was out of the question.
Willfully overlooking the presence of evil was no different from committing sin. Until Kyoko returned, I had to keep fighting, even if I was all alone. If she never returned, well...
———
The next day, I stopped by the Detective Library again.
I wanted to check if there were any new messages for me. Although my expectations were low, I believed that my efforts would surely lead to some breakthrough. Once the bus reached the Detective Library, I stepped out into the lightly falling snow.
I could still see my breath even after opening the old library doors and entering the building. Everything felt much colder and quieter than usual, perhaps due to the snow. The empty umbrella stand next to the entrance implied a lack of visitors.
I inquired about messages at the counter, but there were none for me.
Would it help to request the services of a detective specializing in finding missing persons? Maybe, but there was no guarantee that they wouldn’t be with the enemy. What about the police? They weren’t going to be of much help, and I knew how unreliable they were from past experience.
I felt lonely.
There wasn’t anyone I could lean on.
It wasn’t an exaggeration to say that my view of the world had completely transformed over the past several months. Life had been so simple before I got involved with these Duel Noirs, but now, I couldn’t shake the feeling that a profound darkness lay in wait for me everywhere I went. The sight of a building’s shadow was enough to trigger my paranoia.
How I wished Kyoko was by my side at times like these, bringing me strength...
Kyoko, where did you go? You’ve left me—
As I meandered between the bookcases, a shadow suddenly crossed the aisle a few yards in front of me.
—What was that?
Curious, I turned the corner to chase after the figure. Once I did, I spotted the pretty boy in the vest from the other day, standing about 20 yards ahead.
That same sweet aroma emanated from him.
With his suit jacket draped over his right arm, he stood facing in my direction, almost as if he was awaiting my arrival.
He looked a little shorter than Kyoko. I didn’t have a good guess for his age, but I could tell he was rather young.
Once our eyes locked, a smile spread across his face. Behind that smile lay the playful innocence of a young boy, and the charming allure of a young girl.
If I had to say, he was a fairy of the library.
Pure white skin and long lashes. A delicate and slim build. Was this kid actually a girl? Or maybe, androgynous? Right now, he was neither a boy nor a girl, which made him appear all the more like a fairy. His medium-length hair and blue-tinted eyes further accentuated his strangeness.
Without warning, he slipped into the shadow of a bookcase. I gave chase, rushing over to the next aisle.
The boy stood a few dozen yards away, once again frozen in place like he was waiting for me. The very next moment, he disappeared into the shadow of another bookcase.
“Hey, wait up!” I shouted, running after him.
Upon turning into the next aisle—
He was gone.
Instead, I spotted a small iron door in the wall at the end of the aisle. The boy must have run through there.
Was there always a door here? I thought to myself.
The door seemed like an entrance to Wonderland. I hesitantly approached it, and grabbed hold of the slightly chilly doorknob.
I slowly opened it. A brisk breeze came blowing through the door frame, causing snowflakes to stick to my hair.
The door led outside. A narrow stone-paved path extended out, continuing through a hedge arch. This must have been the library’s backdoor. I wasn’t aware there had been a rear entrance.
The boy was nowhere to be seen, so I assumed he was hiding somewhere beyond the hedge. I walked out into the flurry of snow, making my way through the arch.
On the other side lay a parking lot. It was surrounded by the tall hedge, and there was enough space for about two cars. A long black limousine was currently parked there, offering a sharp contrast to the white snowscape.
The boy from earlier stood next to the car. As if beckoning me forth, he opened one of the limo doors.
“What do you want...?” I asked. “Are you telling me to get in?”
The boy nodded.
“Don’t be ridiculous,” I said, getting into a defensive stance. “Where will it take me? I bet if I get in that car, I’ll never be seen or heard from ever again.”
No response. Was he mute, or could he not understand what I was saying? He held the door wide open like a bellhop, awaiting my next move.
Who was trying to take me somewhere, and why? I was either dealing with the world’s most courteous kidnappers, or receiving the world’s sketchiest party invitation.
Like I’d be stupid enough to fall for this obvious trap.
But there was a reason for me to not turn around and leave.
Whoever was behind this may have done the same to Kyoko. That meant it was potentially worthwhile to purposefully play along. If they took Kyoko somewhere, then I anticipated that they would bring me to the same destination.
“Fine, I’ll get in,” I said firmly, feigning courage.
The boy in the vest smiled, offering his hand to help me inside. It felt weird having such a young kid treat me so respectfully.
I took his hand and bent my head down to enter the dimly lit vehicle.
The sound of the door shutting immediately after I sat down nearly jolted me out of the seat.
The ceiling light illuminated the face of the man across from me.
He looks awfully familiar—
The second I realized his identity, I screamed. My body had already instinctively started groping for the door handle.
I have to get out of here!
“I mean you no harm,” said the husky male voice. “Had I the desire to erase you from this world, you would have already breathed your last. Do you understand?”
I slunk my head down and fiercely nodded.
The bearded man facing me had long hair that was slicked back, completing a rugged look. The fiery glint in his eyes suggested he was a man of passion, but in stark contrast to that, his pale skin appeared to have been deprived of sunlight for a long time, and his sunken cheeks were characteristic of a body in poor health. He had a very calm and mature demeanor.
“I trust that you are aware of my identity?”
While letting out a cough, he reached into the inner pocket of his black overcoat and pulled out a Detective Library ID card, before casually shoving it in front of my face.
Gekka Ryuuzouji: DSC Number [000]
The first triple-zero ID I had ever laid my eyes on, proof of his distinction in every field as a detective.
He was one of the detectives who reigned supreme at the top of the Detective Library—the “Count of the Armchair,” Gekka Ryuuzouji.
I reverently returned his ID, which he accepted with slightly quivering hands. The tips of his fingers were thin and dried, reminding me of withered branches.
After another coughing fit, he took a glass from the side table and poured himself some whiskey. As if treating it like an elixir, he downed it in one gulp.
All of a sudden, the car started moving.
Why was he in a place like this? Was he waiting for me?
As the car accelerated, questions sped through my mind.
Ryuuzouji and I sat face-to-face, the two of us alone in the enclosed moving space. The boy from earlier was in the passenger seat, beyond the partition dividing the vehicle. My seat was fluffy and comfortable, which had a slight effect in relaxing my fear-stiffened body.
In any other situation, sitting across from Gekka Ryuuzouji would be nothing short of a great honor. Yet finding myself in this moment, I was convinced fate had screwed things up somewhere along the way.
“How old are you?” he asked.
“...Sixteen.”
“A fine number. The moon on its sixteenth night symbolizes hesitation and hope...” Ryuuzouji looked down at the glass in his hands and muttered something to himself that I couldn’t quite catch. His handsome voice was soothing to my ears. “You appear perplexed. I shall answer anything you wish to ask.”
“Where are we headed?”
“A place where lost lambs seek salvation.”
“Lambs...?”
“Those whose paths have become enshrouded in darkness have flocked in thousands to bask in my guiding light.”
He was speaking in riddles.
“Are you talking about your detective agency?”
“Well done. We will soon be approaching my headquarters. I welcome you inside with open arms.”
Out of the three triple-zero class detectives, Ryuuzouji was the only one who operated a physical office and took requests from the general public. He was said to have solved hundreds of cases every day, but what was impressive was that he solved all of them without moving an inch from his chair, hence the nickname “Count of the Armchair.” “Armchair” came from the term armchair detective, while “Count” seemed to be inspired by his appearance.
“Why invite me?” I asked.
“I have reviewed the Duel Noirs you took part in. There have been rumors about your ineptitude as a detective, but I cannot bring myself to mock you. Do you know why?”
Ryuuzouji closed his mouth, waiting for an answer. I couldn’t come up with a response, so after a few seconds of silence, he continued.
“Because I was once just like you. Indeed, your determination deserves praise, not ridicule.”
He was spouting some weird things. I couldn’t take his words at face value; rather, I grew suspicious of his patronizing attitude.
“...What do you mean by that?” I asked, slightly defensively.
“I mean that it would be a shame to lose you.”
“Lose me?”
“I wonder, have you ever thought about your own death? Or, have you perhaps drafted a will?”
“Huh? What...?” I tilted my head to the side, unable to figure out his intentions. The more I thought about it, the more distasteful his question sounded. “Um... What are you getting at...?”
“My apologies. It is time.”
Ryuuzouji raised one hand to cut me off, pulled out a cellphone, and started dialing a number.
As the phone connected, he turned to the driver’s seat and said, “Maintain the legal speed limit. Do not go even one mile per hour over.”
What was about to happen?

Note
hello! i hope you don’t mind a q: ive id’d as aro for so long id rather talk to a community than a q&a blog. basically, ive been in a qpr for about 6mo with a rly lovely person. im happy and were communicating a lot, but im finding that as the initial stronger “honeymoon” feelings settle down, im becoming more confused abt how love feels or what im “supposed” to be feeling in a qpr. do you have insight? also idm if you toss this to other followers instead of using spoons to respond personally
Oh, anon, I understand that, so no worries. I don’t follow any 101/ask-styleblogs for any of my identities because so many conversations are on alevel of identity exploration no longer relevant to me.
I will say that I am not the world’s most experienced person when it comesto relationships, so I encourage folks who feel that they relate to your wordsto comment away, because your personal experience is much more important thanmy rambling. (And thanks for being such a dear about my spoons!)
I will also say, more for other people reading this post than for you, anon, that I consider thispost by @aroacepagans and thispost by @aphobephobe essential reading on the subject of queerplatonicrelationships, especially in terms of exploring what QPRs are and how theyfunction as a response to amatonormativity. These posts convey a note of “QPRsdescribe non-amatonormative relationships that fit the needs of theparticipants as opposed to the amatonormative mold of participants shaped tofit the relationship” that form the backbone of how I understand a QPR.
Anon, I am wary of words like “should” and “supposed”.
They’re words I tend to say unthinkingly: I should feel this, I shouldn’twant this, I’m supposed to do this more easily, I’m supposed tounderstand, I’m not supposed to be confused. They’re words that compareourselves to an illusion of experience and leave us wanting, and the goodpsychologists I’ve worked with made interrupting noises every time I spokethem. Yes, Western society has a raft of rules about how to be human that itexpects me to live up to, but are those rules right and fair? Do theyacknowledge my limitations and struggles and differences, or do they make me feel bad about being shoved in a box that doesn’t fit me? Is there anything about the litany of shouldand supposed that allows us to regard ourselves, as we truly are, withkindness and compassion?
Are we truly supposed to feel anything? Or is it kinder to let go ofthe idea that we are supposed to feel in any specific way, to giveourselves space to feel as we do?
What is love, then? What does it feel like? Whatever love is or howmuch it matters, no two people are going to have the same answer orunderstanding on how it works, what it feels like to experience and howimportant it is to possess it or understand it. I find love to be anebulous concept at best, and I don’t use it as a basis for defining how I careabout other people. I come across as that heartless aro autistic byalloromantic and allistic norms because I cannot perform socially-centred love, but I find peace in centring things I better understand, likegratitude, connection and compassion. Other people will feel differently ofcourse, but I think it proves that there is no universal understanding of whatlove is, its importance or the ways in which it operates and is expressed (justas there’s no true universalunderstanding of what romance is or how it operates).
If love is an individualised experience, even though society pushes theillusion it isn’t, is there any way to determine what it’s “supposed” to feellike or when I’m “supposed” to feel it, even if/when it’s non-romantic?
The aro-spec community looked at the amatonormative mould of romanticattraction and love as universal, said no, that doesn’t work for us, andthen developed a relationship model that ignores it. For this reason, as weknow what it means to be erased by a model that doesn’t serve us, it seems tome that determining how we’re supposed to feel love in a QPR undermines thespirit of naming QPRs in the first place.
I will push for QPRs to be individualistic at heart, defined by the peoplewithin them, with limitless possibilities for what their love/connection looks like andhow relevant love/connection is to those involved. If you are in a QPR, anon? If you andyour partner are content? Then your love is enough, and your love is right forthat QPR, and there is no need for a map of supposed to shove you onto apre-existing road. You can build your own, designed for the relationship you’rein.
Unlike a romantic relationship, that’s a scary thing: there’s no outline ofprogression, no map to follow, no pre-marked stops on the route ahead of you, fewer folks who can advise you. There’s fewer narratives on what a QPR maylook like long-term, where you might end up, or what this relationship mightbecome under stress or tension—or how to keep a QPR together under thoseforces. I have a feeling, anon, that this is from where your ask may be coming, and that’s a weight all aro-specs bear in varying ways, this sense that we’rewalking paths nobody has travelled before us. You’re not alone in it, andyou’re right to struggle with it (I know I do!) but I don’t think there’s anyanswer for you in my positing what your love or any other feelings in a QPR is “supposed” to be.
(I’d love to see discussions about folks in longer-term QPRs and howthey deal with tensions and outside stresses on and within their relationship, especially for situations when romantic relationships serve as no usefulguideline or parallel. We need more mature conversations on QPRs that gowell beyond their inception and focus instead on the long-term building andthe sustaining of them under social and amatonormative pressures.)
If you’re concerned, anon, ask your partner. Talk about what it is you feel, ask what they feel. Talk about what love means to you and them, talk about whata QPR means to you and them, talk about the lack of social narrative to guideyou both and how that impacts you and them, talk about this feeling that youdon’t know what you’re “supposed” to feel in terms of love in a QPR, talkabout expectations and dreams and needs, talk. I'd be surprised if your partnerisn’t feeling some of this, too, and it’s so much easier to endure the pressureof “supposed” when you’ve got someone to share it with!
I don’t believe that there’s any kind of love or other feelings we’re “supposed” to feel in aQPR, and I’d never draw lines for you or anyone else on that point. All I cando is validate you in my belief that if your love or connection is accepted and valued by you and your partner, that’s all that matters.

“Okay, Lieutenant. We got it.”,Jinyoung approaches you as you stand beside the autopsy table, you take a folder from his hand and he stops next to you, “Not to rain on your parade, but the girl is… I mean was– the daughter of Daeun Trading Corporation’s CEO”, Jinyoung sounds amused and you sigh, looking up at him disappointed, “Her name is Kim Da Eun”
“Of course she was”, you droned, earning a chuckle from Jinyoung.
You take a quick look at the files inside before looking at the girl again, squinting your eyes just the slightest to concentrate at the sight before you. Jinyoung’s focuses on his notes for a moment, oblivious to your antics.
“Something wrong”, you speculate, loud enough to get Jinyoung looking up at you with one raise eyebrow.
“Wh-What? Lieutenant–”, he faltered, letting his hands fall beside his body.
“Just a feeling. An instinct–”, you mutter vaguely, offering him a shrug.
Jinyoung breathes out tiredly.
“Lieutenant…”, he starts, “I used to think only I hated when you said things like this, but I’ve noticed it’s a unanimous feeling. People hate when you say something about this instinct of yours, it’s scary!”
“Me included”, you reply vaguely, adding a strangled sigh as you try to put the pieces together, making sure you’re not missing anything, “What do we have so far?”
Jinyoung dutifully walks you through the information gathered, the doctor adds more facts.. It feels like a promising day, alright.
⁎ ⁎ ⁎
You look up when someone knocks on your table.
“We’re going out for lunch”, your Captain announces, walking around your table to take a better look at the files you have scattered before you, “Obsessive as always”
Although his words are a reprimand you can hear the compliment undertone he applies to them. He shifted his weight on his feet, taking a closer look at the files you have on your table.
“What are those?”
You slide one of the file to him and leans back on your seat, massaging your closed eyelids.
“Someone I know owned me a favor”, you confess while opening your eyes.
You see him flipping the file to look at the department’s name, not minding his troubled and rather upset expression, you show him the photos and your Captain snaps his eyes to look at you, inspecualting.
“This case belongs to narcotics, what are you up to?”
“Daeun’s case.” You starts, “Something seems off.”
“Y/n, you can’t compare the daughter of CEO Kim Shin Il with those druggies!”
“Captain–”, you insist, pulling the files for comparison, “Most injuries match and the disposal location as well and the prostitutes aren’t the only ones–”, he interrupts you in a hurry
“Forget this”, he snaps and starts closing the files, putting them in a pile, “I’m retiring, and you will be promoted soon, we don’t need to stir shit up, Y/n”, he leaves only the CEO’s daughter file open on top of the others and taps the photo of the girl’s ID attached to he files, “After lunch we’ll have the warrant for her boyfriend’s house. It’ll be over before you know it”
“But, Captain! Something is definitely wrong here”, you try dissuading him and pulls out Kim Da Eun’s boyfriend mugshot, “I doesn’t make sense!” You hand him the paper, tapping it energetically as you speak on, “How can a narcissistic girl like Da Eun date a penniless man who walks around like a homeless–”, he interrupts you
“How would I know? It could be another trend, who knows?”
“Captain, do you really believe that?” You defy him, staring into his eyes with your hands on your waist and the two of you simply stare at each other for a moment, “Captain–”, you try again once both of you calm down, “I know something’s off about this.”
“Y/n-ah~”, he calls your attention in a rather affectionate way that comes out as bothersome, “I told you before. You can’t solve every case trusting your guts”, he insists, “Sometimes it doesn’t work and when that happens–”, he sighs
He steps closer, placing his hands on your shoulders, shaking you a little, but still looking in your eyes.
“Y/n! Don’t do this”, he warns you, “Think about Minjoo~, huh?” He tries in a dissuading tone and pats your shoulders before letting go of you, “Let’s go eat something, it’s my treat”
It’s not that you don’t understand his mindset. You want this to be that simple, you want it to be just a simple case of an abusive boyfriend jealousy as much as your Captain. This way the case you would be off your hands and you could move on to the next one on the pile resting on the other side of your table.
There isn’t much time left for your Captain’s retirement and your promotion to take his place and both of you are excited for this for different reasons. He has his business planned to stay alongside his family and enjoy his supposed old age papering his grandkids. As a side effect of being taken under your captain’s wings is knowing his family very closely as if you’re part of it, Seungho is his eldest grandkid, only a year older than Minjoo and they go to the same daycare, you’re friends with his mother, your captain’s oldest daughter.
So, yeah, you know everything you need to about him wanting to settle down and he knows all your reasons too. Keeping a low profile is a must in such a crucial moment in this career, but you just can’t look away from what’s in front of you, not when you have such a golden chance in your hands to make this work not just for the CEO’s daughter, but for the others too.
***
Your phone buzzes on your desk and the screen displays Hakyeon’s ID along with his picture, one that has him holding Minjoo during her last birthday party, and although the sound is subdued in the noisy room you’re not completely alienated to it, however you decide to ignore it, focusing on the files you have in hand, instead. Trying to connect the dots, because you know something off about this case, you know there must be a connection somewhere and if there is, you better find it fast before it’s too late to do anything about it.
“Lieutenant?” You look up to see Wonshik waiting for you expectantly by your desk, “They got Kim Da Eun’s boyfriend. They’re taking him to the interrogation room right now”, he pants
You jump on your feet and make sure to lock the files you’ve been reading in the lowest drawer on your desk before scooping your phone from your desk and walking hurried steps with Wonshik by your side.
“Who’s with him?”
“Detective Park”, he speaks respectfully
“Jinyoung?”
“Yes”, he nods
“Good”, you mutter more to yourself, then to him, “Did he say anything?”
“Aside from pleading innocence? No, sir.”
“Of course.”
He follows you into the room next to the interrogation room where some of the other detectives are gathered along with the Captain.
“How is it going?” You ask, moving to stand right in front of the two way mirror
“They gave us an alibi”, you Captain speaks, “We’re checking on it”, he adds with eyes glued on the scene unfolding behind the two-way mirror
“Brand named clothes and shoes. Limited edition, artesanal wrist watch…”, Jinyoung clicks his tongue, “You certainly is a high maintenance man”
“Why? Jealous?”, Jongup provokes, “I heard a cop’s pay off is real shit”, he adds, squinting his nose in disgust
“Still better than being a prostitute”
“Wow-wow-wow! Where did that came from?”
“Well, let me see–”, Jinyoung starts sarcastically, leaning back on his chair with arms crossed over his chest, “You’re unemployed and a complete nobody that ran errands for a low-life thug a few weeks ago, then out of nowhere you meet Kim Da Eun. Rich girl with a powerful father. Then, suddenly, you move to a better apartment and starts dressing like a well-bred bastard, except–”, this time Jinyoung’s the one who squints in disgust, “You have a horrible taste”
“I’m not a prostitute! What the fuck?”, Jongup replies outraged, “I’m a personal assistant, ‘lright?”
Jinyoung scoffs much like you on the other side of that mirror, most of the other detectives shake their heads in incredulity.
“Yeah, sure”, you hear someone say, somewhere behind you
“A personal assistant? You?”, Jongup nods insistently
Jinyoung keeps his eyes on Jongup as he opens the file on the table and only looks down to read.
“Moon Jong Up. 23 years old. Barely concluded middle school in a countryside town, the middle of nowhere–”, Jinyoung nudges the file away and looks up again, “How are you a personal assistant for people like Kim Da Eun and her friends?”
“I’m very good at what I do”, Jongup smirks with a careless shrug
“Two people testified that you were Kim Da Eun’s boyfriend, Jongup. Now–”, Jinyoung leans forward again, with his elbows on the table, “You can’t blame me for assuming you’re a prostitute. It’s the best case scenario for you to date a girl like her, even though we both know she could do much better. We understand her friends didn’t want to taint her memory by saying that, but still–”
“Alright, man. Just– stop right there”, Jongup asks in annoyed, raising both hands before dropping them loudly on his lap, “I wasn’t dating her or anything. She was a spoiled, manipulative, annoying bitch. Not exactly my type of fuck, no”
“Then why were you have pointing fingers saying that you were her boyfriend”
Jongup sighs in exasperation, rolling his eyes in annoyance.
“The fuck should I know? All I do is fixing parties for these crazy rich kids, man”
“Then, how come Kim Da Eun spent three days in your apartment?”, Jinyoung doesn’t lose a beat and Jongup takes a deep breathe, tonguing the teeth at the back of his mouth and rolling his head with eyes closed.
There’s a silent in the room and Jinyoung nudges his chair closer to the table in between them and smacks his hand very loudly on top of the files, regaining Jongup’s attention in a instant.
“Hey!”, Jinyoung speaks on the top of his lungs and Jongup stares at him, but it’s obvious he wants to look away, “You’re about to be charged with murder.”, Jongup looks away, “Look at me!”
“He definitely knows something”, your captain speaks up
“C’mon.”, you mutter more to yourself than to anyone else in the room, “C’mon, speak up.”
There’s a silence in the room for a moment. Jinyoung watches the Jongup very closely, while Jongup looks everywhere but Jinyoung.
“Jongup”, Jinyoung calls, “Why did you murdered Kim Da Eun?”
“What the–”, Jongup protests comes out as a groan, “I didn’t murder anyone!”
Jinyoung starts talking again, but your attention is robbed by Wonshik, who walks in and hands you a file. You scan the file, reading the report as fast as you can before handing over to you Captain. Dong Il reads and curses under his breath.
“His alibi checks out”, you say in deception before speaking into the microphone, to Jinyoung, “Come over”
Jinyoung leaves Jongup alone in the room with a threatening remark and meets you with the rest of the team inside the two-way mirror room.
“What is it?” He asks as soon as he steps in.
“His alibi checks out”, you repeat and your captain pushes the file on Jinyoung’s chest while you lean on the table behind you with your arms crossed over your chest in annoyance.
“We confirmed he was arrested two days ago for fighting a VVIP member of the Lotus nightclub.”
“How did he got in a place like that?” Jinyoung asks in annoyance
“Even if he worked for Golden Tiger himself he’d need a high status in the syndicate to get in that club”, you comment
“He was a guest for a private party”, the detective makes a pause, “For Kim Da Eun”
“Apparently Jongup and the other guy was hurt pretty bad. They all went to the hospital, Kim Da Eun too. Kim Da Eun and her friend pressed charges against Jongup”, Wonshik explains, “They left and not too long after he was taken into custody by the Department of Organized Crimes, he stayed with them for two days”
“So, we’re back to square one?” Jinyoung asks
“This Kim Da Eun’s friend is the son of one of Kim Shin Il’s associates. I’ll call the judge, he won’t show up unless we summon him”, you add, “Go back there and try to find something about this other guy and that fight. If he didn’t mention anything about it, then he’s definitely hiding something”
Jinyoung motions his head before leaving the room and you watch him start the interrogation again before leaving the room with your phone in hand. You don’t notice your Captain following you.
“I’m relieved”, he speaks up with a smile and you raise your eyebrows in confusion, “The next Captain is competent”
He doesn’t wait for you to say anything, just walks away. Whistling his favorite tune with his hands in his pockets and it’s only when he’s quite far that you let it sink in and smiles to yourself at the thought before going back to what you were doing.
It takes some talk and some convincing, but once you get the okay from the judge, you go back to the room, to watch the interrogation.
“We confirmed it was your blood on Kim Da Eun’s hands… literally. So, I’m pretty sure we can hold you here”, Jinyoung states
“Are you fucking kidding me?”, Jongup protests, “I already told you!”, he speaks loud in frustration looking at Jinyoung, before looking at you, “There was a fight at the club, I got hurt and she got… dirty. That crazy bitch”
He whispers the last part to himself and abruptly stands up to lift his shirt up his torso to show the cut, the blood on the wound soaking the bandages.
“Sit down!” Jinyoung commands, stepping further into the room and slamming the file on the table, but he stays standing up
“You see this?” Jongup points at the wound, “It was two days ago and it’s bleeding again because you people keep assaulting me”
“You’re the one getting worked up”, Jinyoung clarifies  in a low, threatening tone, “Now, sit. Down.”
If it was either Jinyoung’s piercing glare or the way he spoke in a yet darker tone, hissing the words with jaw tightened that made Jongup swallow hard and obey, you don’t know. But it works quite a lot.
“I was in jail! I was in a cell for almost two days”, he starts again, more quiet this time
“We already know that part. Tell why you fought with that other guy”, Jinyoung presses and Jongup goes silent again, “Are you scared of losing your sponsor or something?”
“Look. You don’t mess with people like him, okay?”
“Why? Why is so scary about him? Huh?”, Jinyoung smiles, leaning further on the table and closer Jongup, “I’ll make this clear. We won’t have nothing to hold against you if you just say what you know about this guy”
Jinyoung slides a printed screencap from a CCTV from the file, towards Jongup. Keeping his eyes locked with the other’s.
“Just tell me what you know about the guy and we can let you go”
Jongup hesitates before looking at the photo other table, his eyes shift between the photo and Jinyoung. He presses his lips and looks away, lost in thoughts for a moment.
“I’m–”, Jongup hesitates, “I’m not saying he killed her, ‘lright?”, the fear and hesitation is more than clear as he speaks, stealing glances at Jinyoung
“Why? Do you think he could murder Kim Da Eun?”
“I don’t know, man…”
“Hey, Moon Jongup!” Jinyoung calls, loud and clear, “Look at me. Speak clearly.”, he commands
Jongup does as he’s told. When he starts speaking again he’s still hesitating and biting down on his lips, but at least he’s looking back at Jinyoung.
“All I know is that he’s a twisted bastard”, Jongup speaks up, “Mr. Kim wanted his daughter to date this dude, but Da Eun came to me–”
“To you?” Jinyoung asked skeptically
“All I know is that she wanted someone to protect her from this crazy-ass dude. She was scared of him”
“Did she tell you why?” Jongup hesitates to answer, “Jongup!”
“I told you, he’s crazy”, Jongup halts
“How?”
“He’s a controlling freak. A total psycho, I’m telling you”
Sometimes comes to your mind and you reach for the microphone again.
“Jinyoung, ask if Kim Da Eun was being abused by her boyfriend”, there a pause while you stand back and Jinyoung asks
“You bet. Just ask anyone, if you make sure he won’t do anything to them, they might speak up too. Or just check on his ex-girlfriend.”
“So why did Kim Da Eun choose you?”
“Because she knows I’m good at what I do”
“You were a low-life thug.”
“Exactly–”, Jongup motions his head with a shrug, “I’m good at what I do”, he repeats himself
“Then, what happened?” Jinyoung presses in urgency
“The guy is like a vicious dog”, Jongup stresses clearly, tapping his index finger on the table to make the gravity of his words worth, “He came to the club and tried to take her away, calling her all kinds of stuff, trying to drag her away–  He was high on something. I tried protecting her–my job, remember? But the crazy son of a bitch cut me open with a fucking broken bottle”
“You said he was high–”, Jinyoung insists, “Is he addicted to any illicit drug?”
Jongup scoffs. “Why? Do I get extra points if I answer that one?”
“It doesn’t matter. We have what we need to get the playboy over”, you say out loud to the others, “Wonshik, go check on the summon the judge is supposed to send. I’ll be on my desk.”
This is heading down the same path, only now the person to have fingers pointed at is different. You know quite well, how this might end, but you can’t take those files locked in a drawer out of your head. You know there’s something about it that connects everything.

Babysitting is a service used to take care of children, usually for a short absence of the parents, perhaps when they are busy at work or when parents go out shopping. It is a person chosen by the child’s parent or appointed by the government to take care of and supervise children in the circumstances such as while parents are at work, school, travel, etc. Also, it can be a business that caters to such services in exchange for payment of money. Child care services have a significant impact on individuals & society, preventing infants from exhibiting bad behavior as well as keeping them safe from harm. This helps develop proper social skills and growth among people around them and help with appropriate caregiving activities & better communication between children growing up in diverse cultures. Working as a Babysitter requires sensitivity, love & care for the children in your charge. To do that, you need what we term as “Hands-on” experience, which gives you an idea of how a baby or child acts and behaves under different circumstances and how to spot when something goes wrong. It is best to get this practical knowledge before entering into any formal course about child care services so that you know what you will learn rather than doing it blindly without having any background in this area. Most organizations or institutions typically ask for at least three years’ career experience before allowing anyone to take up such courses. Find A Babysitter Near Me Finding a babysitter near you is something that you need to do quickly when you find yourself in a situation where you need child care services. For example, if one of your family members is sick and the other needs to go out for some important work, then you may wish to hire someone who can babysit your children. Finding the right person at such short notice can be difficult if you don’t know what kind of people are available for this job. Some people can do this job quite comfortably in your location, and you may not have to go far to find them. For example, one of the best ways to find a babysitter near me is online. Several websites allow you to post ads about babysitting services in your area. You can make sure that an individual with good experience will come forward and apply for the job. This way, you are likely to be satisfied with the person who becomes your child’s babysitter at such short notice. To find a premium babysitting service, search on NearMe.Vip for babysitting near me. You needn’t worry yourself about anything else other than choosing someone qualified for this job. The babysitter can help you out in several ways. The most crucial part is that your children will be safe and happy with the babysitter in charge. The more you trust them, the better it will be for you to focus on the work or other important activities without worrying about what’s going on at home with your kids. Babysitting Basics If you are thinking of becoming a babysitter or have decided to leave your current job and become one, you must know the basics. Babysitting is not an easy task, but if done well can be extremely rewarding both financially and personally. You will be caring for someone else’s children while also fulfilling your responsibilities in life. You need to ensure that staying up into the middle of the night feeding a crying baby does not impact your school schedule or overall grades. In other words, being a top-notch babysitter demands more than just experience with kids; it takes responsibility and maturity as well. Qualities Needed for Babysitting To be considered for looking after children, there are a few basic requirements. First, you need to be at least 16 years old, though younger people sometimes watch children with a parent or guardian’s permission. You also need to be mature and understand the responsibility of looking after little one’s day and night. Above all else, trustworthiness is probably the most important quality for hiring someone as a babysitter. Parents don’t want to worry about their children or, even worse, hire someone who could pose a threat to their kids’ safety. An excellent way to show this is through references from other families you’ve previously worked for (in some places, they may ask even relatives). Child Care Basics Understanding child care is the first step to becoming a successful babysitter. The essential components of this line of work include, but are not limited to, providing services such as supervising, feeding, and entertaining children while their parents are away or working. It can also mean making sure that children have good relationships with other people – like friends, family members, and teachers. This person should meet the needs of each child in a way that is consistent with their values and beliefs. If possible, they should also recognize when there may be something wrong medically or emotionally with the child’s development. Babysitters usually need at least one year of experience looking after babies before they can consider themselves qualified for a higher-paying job. Of course, this amount of experience is not necessary for everyone. But with some practice, most can have the required skills and knowledge needed to be a successful babysitter. Some people get started in child care by volunteering at daycare centers or even teaching Sunday School classes. There are many opportunities for those who want to work with children on their resumes but don’t necessarily desire a career as an actual teacher. Getting involved in hobbies and clubs related to young kids will also help you become familiar with what they like and how best to interact with them. How to Start Babysitting Before you can get started as a babysitter, there are a few things you need to do. First and foremost, you need to check with your parents or guardians if it is okay for you to start this kind of job. If they agree, take them with you when looking for work so that the parent or guardian can give their opinion too. As long as everyone agrees, the next step should be to make enough money to find an apartment and pay bills for necessities like food and hygiene products – especially if working as a babysitter will not be your only source of income. Also, keep in mind that although some kids may enjoy staying up late into the night eating ice cream at midnight, doing so regularly may ruin it for the other children you will be watching. One great way to find out about job openings is to talk with your school guidance counselor. They may know of some families looking for someone to watch their kids while they go out on a date or business trip. If not, perhaps there’s an organization in your area that helps people from different cultures or races get together. You should always keep in mind that one of the primary reasons why parents hire babysitters to take care of their children is because they can’t trust them around their house alone – especially those under four years old. So frequently, it isn’t about trying to save money as it is about wanting their homes and offspring to be in good condition when they return from their activities. You shouldn’t think about bringing anyone else along with you while babysitting unless you have the express permission of your employer. Also, consider whether or not the families that need someone to watch their kids care for pets as well? If so, make sure that you understand how to care for them before agreeing to do so regardless if they’re animals you like or not. How Much To Charge For Babysitting When you first start as a babysitter, your clients/parents will likely ask you how much they should charge for your services. However, because there is no set guideline for the amount to be charged per hour, it ultimately comes down to what the customers are willing and able to pay. If you think about it, babysitting is kind of like selling something (your time) at an auction house. Some people may not want to spend their money elsewhere on activities or goods that are more expensive than taking care of their children. So even if they’re paying someone else to watch them, it ends up being cheaper for them because they don’t have any other expenses. But, of course, this mainly applies during times when money is tight. If they’re earning and have plenty to spend, then you will more than likely need to charge them a higher hourly rate for your babysitting services because there may be other people who are willing to do the same thing for less money. Before deciding on how much you should charge per hour as a babysitter, it’s best if you start with trying to figure out exactly how many hours in a week you’ll be spending to take care of all the kids that parents will bring home from school or work late at night. Also, look at minimum wage levels as a guideline. Babysitting Websites With all that being said, perhaps the easiest way to find out how much your services are worth is to post a profile on an online babysitting website. These websites can be found in English and Spanish, depending upon where you live and speak fluently. These sites have their own set of guidelines that must be followed carefully, or else you risk getting fired for not doing so. It should also be pointed out that some babysitting websites are designed to connect parents with nannies instead of just babysitters. However, they still have basic information about what it takes to become one regardless if you’ll be working indoors or outdoors. Some babysitting websites have particular qualifications that must be met before applying for a job to work on the site. These usually involve providing proof of age and identity through a photo ID or school records. They may also ask for references from previous employers, but provided that your last employer is still willing to speak on your behalf, then this shouldn’t be a problem. First, understand that babysitting websites are different from other job posting sites because they provide a directory of babysitters in your local area. That being said, the quality and quantity of listings are usually less on these sites compared to those for nannies or housekeepers. As a result, you may need to check several websites before finding one located close enough where transportation is easy. Depending upon which state you live in or what country you’re visiting overseas, there will be some difference in how much you’ll get paid as a babysitter. Babysitting Services A good babysitting service should have friendly, outgoing employees that won’t judge your child or make them feel rushed. Many families with children also choose to use babysitting services since leaving a child unattended for any length of time can be dangerous. Professional babysitting services are probably the best choice for families with children that are safe to leave home alone. Many vacation resorts will provide children’s clubs and babysitting services and many 4 or 5 star hotels will even provide babysitting services on site. Some hotels actually have staff on hand that are specially trained in dealing with children and will typically only hire professional nannies to watch the children. Some babysitters come highly recommended by friends or co-workers, but if you do interview potential sitters, make sure they have been carefully screened to ensure they’re responsible, trustworthy, and can handle children. A good babysitter should always have a clean and tidy appearance. They should be able to provide basic customer service such as collecting your children from their respective locations and ensuring the children are being well-fed and watered. The following are some services that you would expect to be included in a babysitting session: Take care of baby Make Food for them Bathing them Being with them Make children laugh and feel happy when they are alone Keep them safe Keep them clean Nanny Service Near Me There are many things that make a good nanny.
