Summary: Being sick is not fun, especially when you see Legolas' panicked gaze at your condition, which seems to get worse as the days pass by.

As you woke up on the cold hard floor in the morning, you could already tell that you were getting a little sick. The weather on your journey seemed to be not playing in your favour, cold wind was constantly blowing, which was sometimes accompanied by rain or snow. You knew it was bound to happen at some point. Letting out a little cough you wrap up your small sleeping bag, next to Legolas’ and get on your way with the rest of the company. Walking beside the elven prince, you gave him a soft smile. “Good morning Meleth Nin. Did you sleep well?” His hand grasped yours gently, as he looked down at you, reciprocating your smile with one of his own.

“Yeah, I did, it just was a bit cold during the night.” One of his eyebrows raised up as he listened to your slightly deeper voice. “Are you alright?” You just gave him a nod, squeezing his hand to reassure him. “I’m alright love, don’t worry your pretty little head.” A chuckle left his lips, as he leaned towards you and gave you a quick kiss on the cheek. Giggling softly, you leaned your head on his shoulder. “Next time you are cold you can join me in my sleeping bag.” Legolas whispered sultry into your ear, while giving you a wink. A gasp escaped your lips, followed by a cough as you gently shoved him away by his shoulder.

He laughed at your reaction, throwing his arm around your waist to pull you closer once more. “I don’t know what you had in mind, but I just thought about a little bit of cuddling, that’s all.” Your eyes stared back into his. How can anybody look so breathtaking? He tried to lean in to give you a kiss on the lips and you really really wanted that as well, however knowing that you’re sick, you turned your face back to the path, resulting him giving you another peck on the cheek. Scrunching his eyebrows at you, the elven prince gave you a confused look, before you let out another cough.

“Meleth Nin, are you sure you are alright? Did I do something?” “No, of course not but I just remembered that Gimli gave us a stink eye yesterday. He wouldn’t even stop staring and at some point, started grumbling.” You partly lied, trying to hide the cough that was stuck in your throat. Gimli did in fact complain about your ‘constant smooching around’, however you knew that this wasn’t the real reason why you couldn’t kiss him. You just didn’t want him to catch a cold. A few coughs escaped your lips as you grabbed your water bottle to calm your aching throat down a bit. The cold liquid trickled down your throat, helping just a tiny bit. A hot beverage would definitely be the better choice, but that also calls for luxury that you currently can’t come by.

After the long walk of the day, you all set up camp. The fire was brightly lit, as you sat between Aragorn and Legolas. You held your half-eaten bread towards your lover. “Are you already full? You only ate half of the bread. You need to eat more.” You just smiled at him softly and brushed it off with a ‘Don’t worry, I ate a lot during the day.’, knowing you just can’t stomach more because of the flu that really started to catch up now. His gaze glimmered with worry. “Now if you will excuse me, I will go to bed early. I’m so tired because of the long walk today.” You gave Legolas a quick peck before you stood up from your place on the log and made yourself comfortable on your sleeping bag. The elven princes gaze never leaving your figure, even after you fell asleep.

“Aragorn, do you think (Y/N) is alright?” The man beside him turned his gaze from the fire towards your sleeping figure. “What do you mean? She seems normal to me.” Legolas’ gaze drops towards the fire. “Maybe you worry a little too much.” Aragorn says, giving him a reassuring pat on the shoulder, before excusing himself to prepare his weapons for the upcoming day.

The next day you wake up you can already feel the goosebumps on your skin. You felt incredibly cold and hot at the same time. A groan left your lips as you tried to stand up. The world seemed to be spinning around itself as you fell back down with a huff. Legolas eyes widen as he stopped packing his things and approached your side quickly. Worry gleamed in his eyes, as he held you in his arms. He put a hand on your cheek, feeling your very hot face. “(Y/N) what is going on! Where are you hurt?” His gaze roamed your body for any kind of wound that could have been infected that led you to an almost dying stage. “Legolas I’m fine I just-“ A few coughs interrupted you as you grasped his forearm for stability to properly sit up once again. “Aragorn, (Y/N) is dying!” He shouted from the ground where the both of you sat.

Aragorn quickly approached the two of you as he inspected you for any kind of injury as well. “No, I’m not dying I just got sick, that’s all.” Another cough escaped your lips as you grabbed your water bottle beside you. A dumbfounded look spread across Legolas’ face, as he watched you drink. Chuckling a bit, Aragorn stood back up from the ground. “All she needs are some herbs from the woods and drink some tea. Do you think you can travel for a bit (Y/N)?” He asked you, concern slightly visible on his face. “Yes, I just shouldn’t have gotten up that quickly.” You smiled at him before standing up with Legolas, who still didn’t let go of you.

Turning in his arms you wrap your own around his neck. “See I’m alright Meleth Nin. I just need some tea.” He suddenly hugged you tightly. His hand stroked over your hair as he breathed in your smell, his face in your neck. A gentle kiss was placed on the exposed skin. After a little while he slowly let go of you. “I thought you were dying.” He confessed. His eyes burned with an intense fire, as he leaned down and pulled your face towards his, resulting in a kiss on the lips. Gasping softly, you tilted your head to the side. His thumbs stroking your cheeks lovingly, while you let your fingers flow through his hair. Heat spread to your cheeks as the both of you separated to catch some air. “Legolas don’t kiss me! You will catch a-“ He silences you with another kiss. “Meleth Nin don’t ever reject my kisses again while you’re sick.” “But-“ Another peck was placed on your lips. “I thought you knew I was immune to all kind of diseases.”

Love your ideas, especially Ikanaide. It sounds pretty upbeat at first, but then you pay attention to the lyrics, and...ouch. Feeling left behind and trying to pretend she’s okay with it? Yeah. That’s Amy. Here’s a link I found for an English version.

As for which songs I associate with them, my Song & Dance tag covers the topic pretty well, especially this post.

Given how often I think about these two, though, I’m always finding more examples. There’s one song that I feel fits Amy better than any other. I wrote a headcanon about it on January 7th, 2022. I correctly predicted in that headcanon that a bunch of Amy-related stuff would happen that year--right down to her getting a new theme song, even!

I still think my song idea works better than the one in the Frontiers DLC, though. That one feels kind of bland to me. Yeah, she trusts her cards, but she’s supposed to be a go-getter! She reads the cards and then blazes her own destiny using them as a guide. Her mild Frontiers theme gives off the vibe of someone who’s letting fate happen to them, not the other way around. Amy is kind, but she’s not passive.

Laineybug04 correctly pointed out in this post that “House of Gold” by Atreyu fits Shadamy quite well, and I included “Wait for You” in In a Pinch, but it doesn’t stop there. The more I listen to Atreyu, the more I hear Shadamy, and I’m glad you gave me an excuse to point it out! “House of Gold,” “Wait for You,” “Terrified,” “Super Hero”...and “I Would Kill/Lie/Die for You” is pretty much spot-on for Shadow’s brand of dedication. It’s more romantic than the title makes it sound, haha.

They’re not all necessarily romantic in nature, but it’s very easy to imagine Shadow singing them about Amy.

I want to call special attention to “Stronger Than Me,” though.

The speaker starts by showing insecurity.

Yup.

He fears opening up and showing his entire self because he thinks others will be scared by what they see.

Yup.

He admits connecting with him might be complicated sometimes, but he remains steadfast because the relationship is important to him.

And, uh...this is from the chorus:

Do I even need to explain? She’s one comma away from being name-dropped. The song’s title fits perfectly, too. It takes a lot of strength to always look for the best in people and put your faith in the goodness of others. It’s so easy to give up. Shadow would legitimately admire her for it. She deserves to know how special she is for that, and who better to tell her than someone whose entire life was changed by that strength and kindness?

Second ask:

Yes, absolutely! I think of him as liking modern rock and metal, and also jazz because it would’ve been all the rage when he was made. I’ve mentioned this before, but if I had to pick one band to be his favorite, I’d say Nine Inch Nails. It’s heavy, intense, angsty, and complex, and it has some of the same electronic, bass-centered vibes as Shadow’s earlier themes. Compare NIN songs like Discipline and The Perfect Drug with Rhythm and Balance (White Jungle’s theme) and Shadow’s original character theme, Throw it all Away, both by Everett Bradley. Trent Reznor also has a deep voice like Shadow and Bradley do. NIN could do a mean cover of Throw it all Away, now that I think about it...

I don’t think it’s the best idea for canon, even the questionably-canon Twitter Takeover, to cite real people/artists. It’s fine for fans like us to do it, but the official franchise is different. Humans are flawed and complicated. When you start including real people, you could potentially do something awkward like, say...connect your series built on environmentalism with someone who uses a private jet.

Y’know. Hypothetically.

That’s why I love what the social media team did with Hot Honey in The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog. A fictional band doesn’t carry that risk, and they’re seamless within the Sonic universe. Fans like us can’t get caught on whether or not Shadow would enjoy their music because none of us can actually hear them.

Funnily enough, your ask aligns perfectly with what makes Hot Honey so cute for these two. Shadow canonically doesn’t like Hot Honey at all:

I do have a gideon playlist though, pretty short but i feel like it gets his general vibe across [imo]. I made it like last year i think. Its the only one i have besides the 2 playlists i have for my oc

continuing with Gideon though, he reminds me of industrial because in different medias he’s associated with either Indie/pop rock or techno. So i just slapped industrial onto him because it sits pretty well in the middle of the two. because im cringe like that]. Industrial, some electropunk [not rlly msi ripoff bands, more like Elias and the Error], general EBM, new wave and ofc the obvious techno/pop rock. I also chose industrial because of the raw, edgier themes songs usually tend to revolve around. His main artists would be like, NIN, Death Spells, KMFDM probably, Depeche Mode, etc. Though ik he bumps Hamburger Lady once in a while /j [also some songs by Romeo Santos cause bros kinda insane about his relationships]

Matthew Patel is musicals [i wasn’t much of a theatre kid i only sang my parts when my friends would randomly perform Heathers outside of class in midde school. I was never super invested in musicals though.] and emo music. He honestly kinda reminds me of the entire 2016 emo revival with the “Holy Emo Trinity” or whatever. Though ofc this shit takes place in like 2005 so its not the same. He reminds me more of Midwest Emo than Post-hardcore emo. Maybe he would listen to shit like Sleeping with Sirens but for some reason its hard for me to imagine. To be fair its also because i grew up with second wave emo [i think its second wave. mostly the end of it but jt altered my life and ive seen shit that would occur in the scene thanks to my older sister] so i have a specific idea of the different types of emos at the time. He’s much more emotional and theatrical to me which is why i choose midwest emo over post-harcore/emocore. Also hes zesty so brittany spears.

I usually associate Lucas Lee with old school Reggaeton. Just based on personal headcanon about how he looks like a specific genre of Latino in the early 2000s idk to describe it, im also from the west coast so theres that. But ofc the anime gave me a reality check and i realized this mf is still a skater. so of course you have punk rock/pop punk. so the range goes from Daddy yankee and Don Omar to mf The Offspring and Anti-Flag. I’ve thought about making a playlist for him, i just gotta figure out how to organize it the same way i did for Gideon and how his playlist has both bachata and industrial.

Todd would stray more away from electronic heavy music unlike Lucas and Gideon. In my head I also associate him with pop punk, basic bands like Fall Out Boy, The Offspring, Bowling for Soup whatever. Indie Rock like The Killers, The Strokes, Queens of the Stone Age probably. Honestly basic level radio rock that people argue the genre of. Though another headcanon is that most of the music he grew up with was like, basic level metal. Shit like Metallica and AC/DC. I also do think about him while listening to Los Infieles by Aventura because hes a cheating ass mf.

As for Roxy, she reminds me a little more of Post-Hardcore and RIOT GRRRL. Shes not rlly emo but some of her aesthetics overlap so why not lol. I don’t know enough RIOT GRRRL bands other than Le Tigre [also the the Empty>>>>> that song is peak]. But bands like Kittie, Jack off Jill, Saosin, etc. Since my music taste mostly revolves around Rock/EDM and because various soundtracks having a theme song for her, she also reminds me of trance or eurodance. Can’t name any specific artists for those two genres i only know a handful of songs. I can’t rlly put her into one genre of music like the others, i feel like a lot suits her. Fuck it she listens to Lady gaga too. I only know for sure that she reminds me of Devi McCallion and the artists mentioned above. For the Twins. The obvious answer is basic EDM. But i feel like one of them is a little more experimental than the other while one of them would focus on being more melodic. They both remind me of Aphex Twin and Venetian Snares. Ngl though they kinda remind me of 2000s/2010s hip-hop/rap in a way that i can’t fully explain. I have no specific artists nor subgenres to describe it unfortunately because i have a very basic level examples i heard on the radio growing up. i think its cause theyre always at some party/event depending on which media. They remind me of the instrumental to Black and Yellow by Wiz Khalifa tho.

yeah uh, most of my music taste revolves around rock and EDM plus the various genres i grew up with so honestly there’s probably more out there i haven’t listened to yet that could be better fits for them. i like music lol. I also gotta reread the comics to get a better understanding other than what i remember.

I was actually thinking about that a bit since my cousins love Weezer. I think either Mikey or Leo would like it. Something I’ve found about people’s music taste is that it’s usually derived from an aspect of their personality that they don’t usually express. For me, I love Nine Inch Nails and hark rock/metal. My sister says it’s probably the angsty teenager that’s the root of it.

So I think in Mikey, there isn’t anything he doesn’t express since he has no filter. He probably likes exactly what you think he’d like, upbeat pop and rock. So he probably likes Backstreet Boys, other kinds of pop from the 80s and 90s, and probably Weezer too.

Donnie is more similar to Mikey in the way he has no filter and says what he’s thinking. I’m in @ezgurple’s boat of Donnie is an NIN fan/general alternative and industrial music. Probably would also love KMFDM since it’s a very similar style.

Leo and Raph would actually have similar tastes in music, but opposite to what you’d expect. Raph is pretty moody and while he does enjoy metal, especially when he’s angry, he really likes more chill rock, like Foo Fighters and other alternative rock when he’s drawing. Leo to put on a chill persona, and he does love rock, but he’s very high strung and so has a guilty pleasure of listening to hard rock and metal.

They all also love video game music, and are constantly humming it around the house. Sometimes it turns into a full on orchestra of drums and bass and lead melodies until Splinter yells at them to shut up because he’s sick of hearing the same song over and over and over again.

I was listening to KPFA Radio today and heard Mickey of Project Censored being interviewed. He said, regarding the American electorate “You can’t forget something you don’t know”. He referred to  “United States of Amnesia”, a 2013 film about Gore Vidal, an American writer.

 Mikey was talking about the Presidential race of 2016 which is now largely forgotten. American’s have amnesia for their past. And, they pass through their lives choosing to “not know”. They choose to be unaware of major events and trends in the nation and in the world.

Anais Nin, a writer and a diarist wrote “We write to taste life twice, in the moment and in retrospect.”

Goire Vidal wrote “a writer sees the present.’. This was in response to a comment he heard “A writer sees the future”.

In a journal, you break out of the cultural trance of not knowing and of automatic amnesia to ongoing events. You record what is happening as it is happening. You record your impressions and take on it in the now. It becomes your paper memory. Your antidote to culturally driven amnesia. And, as Anis Nin said , you taste the events of your life twice in a journal. Once at the original writing, which can be a deeply cathartic and enriching experience. I googled the movie about Gore Vidal “The United States Of Amnesia” and I played the trailer. It looks like a delightful film. Mr Vidal apparently held up a mirror up to show America as it really was. I have not watched the film, but, I intend to.

claire: claire is so hard for me to get a read on. she strikes me as the type of girl who was a super nose-to-the-grindstone i’ll-party-when-i’m-in-college type. but falling in with lorraine hall has probably stifled that a little bit. i feel like there’s a world in which she goes to a party (at like the cheerleader sorority) and feels so deeply out of place and insecure that she hides in a bathroom trying not to cry. But as we all know, crying in a bathroom can lead to some really touching cathartic conversations with weird strangers (FF May 2024). so like, yeah, she should be at the club, i guess? she should really be at the lesbian bar but that might have to wait a few more months

anna: i think anna tries to be responsible all the time. i think she would go, but be designated sober person, and maybe get into a fistfight when don or mila tries to start shit with someone. i think she would be trying to make sure everyone else is having a good time and pay too little attention to if SHE was having a good time. i just don’t know if she would really enjoy herself. i think she would have more fun having an evening with nin. she should be at the club if she has someone looking out for her

nin: i think nin would either love or hate the club with no inbetween. pre-Fuckening i would say absolutely not. exhaustion + nightmares + short fuse means it probably wouldn’t be super enjoyable. post-Fuckening, i could see them being more open to it. tbh i think the ideal club scenario for nin is sipping a drink at the sidelines and making fun of their friends who are drunker than them. sure, they should be at the club, if they’re feelin it

Oooo does that mean Naruto is the only one being taught by Kakashi? Like a Minato apprentices kakashi pre Obito and Rin situation? Or do Sakura and Sasuke get passed by association too.

Bc on one hand, you can have a bunch of team seven angst where Naruto is excluded/singled out even more because he proved he was more skilled and also made them look bad. A classic “you got me in trouble” situation. And maybe it makes kakashi like them even less bc not only did they leave Naruto behind, but them “punishing” Naru for it reminds him of the villagers that tormented his father.

But on the other hand, if S&S don’t become genin with him, he would need new team members which could include Kabuto.

Like I adore the thought, even if it’s just in their minds, that they’re only Genin because Naruto chose to be kind enough to hold out a hand. To throw those bells at their feet as a challenge and a promise. To look them in the face and tell them in all but words that they fucked up and owe him a chance to be seen as their equal rather than just the dead last. There would be… a lot of tension there as they lashed out at Naruto. There would be so many days where Naruto comes home and shatters in the arms of whatever member of his family is there waiting for him. Kabuto in particular would be pissed because it would be like looking in a mirror. The knowledge that even Naruto is stuck in this vicious cycle with him and doomed to be failed by his team over and over again. Team seven would often have a certain medic nin watching them with a placid smile and rage in his eyes.

But I also like the thought of there being consequences. They didn’t pass the test, didn’t listen to their teammate who was very clearly coming to them with a plan, chose to turn their back on Naruto and leave him at the mercy of a Jonin they didn’t really know. Even if Naruto could grow to trust them after that, Kakashi absolutely would not.

(In that moment when Naruto throws the bells at their feet and flashes his fangs, Kakashi sees a different body on the ground. Cold. Dead.

The future if this child doesn’t have a team that would stand for him just as much he would stand for them. Those that break the rules are trash but those that abandon their friends are less than trash, after all.)

And Naruto apprenticing under Kakashi? Being paired in an older genin team that included Kabuto who would watch his brother’s back until his dying breath? They would be absolute terrors.

Kaveh had wanted to do this trend forever. He had been seeing it all over his for you page, and was set on doing it with someone. But for some reason, he had felt uncomfortable doing it with anyone. Cyno and Tighnari were dating, and everyone else just… didn’t fit who he wanted.

Sighing, Kaveh turned his phone off and sauntered out into the kitchen, where he was met by his roommate.

Perfect.

Setting up the camera, Kaveh hit record as he put on his reddish lipstick. Smudging it, he waited for Alhaitham to wipe it with his thumb like he had instructed. Surprisingly, Alhaitham had listened. Changing the camera angle, Kaveh stared at Alhaitham’s reflection as Alhaitham stared at him.

Alhaitham’s face was covered top to bottom in lipstick marks. There might have been about two square inches where his face didn’t have lipstick on it. But something else caught Kaveh’s attention more than that. His eyes.

Alhaitham’s eyes were so soft. And they were paired with a small, genuine smile that sat across his face. Kaveh was shocked by his expression.

Stopping the recording, Kaveh turned to look at Alhaitham properly. He wanted to see that expression with his own eyes. And yet, it wasn’t there when he looked over.

“What was that?” he had asked.

“What was what,” Alhaitham responded. 

“Your expression, your eyes–”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he interrupted. “I was looking at you as I normally do.”

he’s the one who introduced elvis to levi but i think sway would be his favourite. he doesn’t have a lot of time to listen to music so when he can he pours himself a nice bottle of wine usually reserved for the military police, locks himself in his office, and (very fittingly might i say) sways to this song. he usually ends up spilling his wine but he has too much fun to complain.

Hinata was acting weird, hiding bruises. Sasuke had been working with her on and off on missions for the last few months, and it was getting worse. So Sasuke showed up at her door to check on her.

“Anki, you need to go home.” Hinata sighed, opening the door, looking both surprised to see him and frightened. “Sasuke-san, you can’t be here.”

“Who’s Anki?” Sasuke raised an eyebrow.

“He’s a guy…” Hinata looked around him, concerned.

“Boyfriend?” Sasuke flicked his head behind him, wondering what she was looking for. It might be the person who was hiding in the bushes across the street.

“No. I just need you to leave. Please.” Hinata pleaded with him desperately.

“Are you okay?” Sasuke asked seriously.

“Yeah.” Hinata shriveled back, not proving herself very well.

“Hmm?” Sasuke didn’t look so sure.

“Sasuke-san, please leave. I’ll talk to you later.” Hinata assured him, looking nervously around again.

“Yeah,” Sasuke grumbled. 

Hinata closed the door. He stood there for a moment. He kept his eyes on the hiding position of the guy creeping across the street as he rounded the corner. He stepped out of sight and waited. It was not long before the person had come out of his hiding spot and headed for her door.

He knocked on her door. She didn’t open it at first. He knocked again harder. “I know your home!” He shouted.

Hinata opened the door only enough to look out. “Anki, please go home.”

“Who was that?” Anki asked in a low voice.

“He’s a teammate. We work together.” Hinata told him. Her face was hard, but she honestly looked scared.

“So you’re going around behind my back with coworkers now?” Anki accused her. Sasuke was surprised by the change.

“No, he’s not even happy he’s working with me,” Hinata told him. She was firm, but she was faltering. It was clear she was uncomfortable, but it seemed like she was afraid of something. Was this what she had been hiding?

“What did he want?” Anki asked harshly.

“I don’t know,” Hinata told him flatly.

“Don’t lie to me.” Anki pushed on the door. She held it in his place. It didn’t even budge.

“Since you knew he was here, you were watching, and you should know he didn’t say why he was here, and I didn’t ask.” Hinata huffed. “I asked him to leave like I am asking you. At least he listened!” 

Anki shoved against the door. “You invited him!”

“Why would I invite him and tell him to leave? Anki, you need to go home.” Hinata pressed, holding the door in place.

“Hinata, let me in,” Anki growled.

“No. You need to go.” Hinata tried to close the door, but he laid his arm through the door and grabbed her, pulling her arm out of the door around her wrist. “Stop!” She yanked at her arm too weakly to pull it away.

Sasuke knew Hinata could easily level this guy. Why wasn’t she? He had seen enough.

Sasuke rounded the corner, heading back. Before either of them reacted to him, he grabbed one hand on the guy’s neck and threw it back across the street, his back slamming into the wall.

Hinata screeched. “Sasuke-san, stop!”

Hinata grabbed him tight around the arm, with far more force than she had given the guy trying to force his way into her home.

Sasuke turned to glare at her. Why was she taking this shit?

“He’s a civilian!” Hinata squeaked, letting go of him, and ran across the street to care for the man he had just thrown.

“What?” Sasuke blinked at her.

The concept was that after working with Hinata for some time Sasuke realizes that something is wrong, when he checks on her, he finds that she is being stalked. She is afraid of turning her stalker in because she doesn't want to look too weak to deal with it but she also knows she can't hurt him to scare him off because he's not a nin.

Currently watching: IWTV AMC edition. Rewatching at a slow pace so I don’t just watch it 100 times.

Currently reading: Swamp Thing book 6 (Alan Moore’s version) or a very very slowly paced reread of Dorian Gray.

Last movie: Watched Texas Chainsaw Massacre for the first time recently with my bf. I had complex feelings about it. I think it was fun for what it was, I didn’t like how it totally felt like torture prn but it was meant to be a metaphor for the meat industry which makes sense.

Sweet/spicy/savoury: Savoury. I like all three but I have mostly savoury stuff. I love salt <3

Relationship status: I’m in a relationship. Aggressively monogamous lol (not in a weird anti polyamory way just yeah).

Latest obsessions: My partner lol. Been super into NIN and vampires lately but I have been into both for years. Specifically the IWTV series just gripped me so hard I had to start a tumblr account after not being here for years.
