MY TIME HAS COME.
12 year old snackugaki would have given TNM an A, no question. It was right up there with Power Rangers (going through the In Space series at the time in 1997 which is the series it crossed over with, I trailed off PR around Lightspeed Rescue.)
Like at the time, ninja craze aside, a lot of children's programming had martial arts and (child) martial artists casted in shows. tl;dr I was a fighty, bitey little thing and while my father would have preferred I study wing chun which... at the time I wondered why I didn't and ended up studying aikido (It was convenience, a school club opened up because a teacher was offering TKD, Aikido and Tang Soo Do and just straight up no wing chun teachers were in the neighborhood). Suffice to say, Trini Kwan and Mei Pieh Chi chilled me the fuck out by being their level-headed selves. Lead by example at its prime.
Granted I was starting to skew on the older side of the target demographic when TNM was airing but, y'know, I love my funky li'l green dudes. And considering the tone set by the 87 cartoon (barring the red sky episodes) and the veering away from the Mirage tone in the subsequent 90s movies, TNM being as goofy as it was is simply following Turtlemania to its logical conclusion (to me, looking back as an adult; preteen me was just enjoying that squeaky chicken punching sound effect)
But 12 yo snack isn't taking this poll, 39 yo snack is, so.
I would give it a very loving C. C+ if there was an option. The Chiodo brothers did an okay job making the suits, the plastons were interesting minus Venus' sculpted little A-cups. For the time, the facial animatronics were pretty good, baby snack didn't see any difference between how TNM's faces moved than the movies. Though there are shots where eyes aren't lining up and knowing the people in the suits barely had any field of vision to work with which resulted in mishaps like
Good thing they weren't related. Which.... I waffled on whether to bring this up because I could very well write a whole goddamn thesis on this point alone but.
Yes, I know one of the big wanks over TNM was not just Venus being a fifth turtle, that Laird was adamantly and vehemently against, it was that she was explicitly stated in-show to not be related to any of the others (and also that none of the four were brothers by blood either). That it was lame she was "reduced" to a love interest. Which for that tidbit alone? Barely fuck all was paid to that point. If I had to recount it on the spot because I have and do rewatch TNM?
You had...
Leo holding Venus in a classically tender pose after she called upon Shredder's inner child self to call him cringe and one shot him in the scene
A moment where Leo slung his arm over the couch while Venus sat beside him
Leo professing wanting to learn her prism illusion techniqu/chi manipulation
Raphael being Fig 1 Exhibit A tsundere tsupreme in behaving coldly to her, calling her she-demon, jabbing at her "shinobi" training.
Raphael basically drawing fanart of himself riding a bike with Venus backpacking.
Raphael being overprotective to the point of boorishness when Venus tries to befriend a defecting dragon soldier. "DoN't wALk aWaY whEn i'M taLKinG tO yOu!" Yuck.
Mikey pulling his "I work out every day!" shtick, calling her bodacious, making a silly little song about finding her cute, all of which happens in Venus' intro episodes
Mikey and Venus play-waltzing as they fight Dragonlord's henchmen.
Donatello, and Venus, sniping at one another's field of expertise. Was barely sniping tbh because "Magic Girl" is barely insulting, it was just a fact. The second actual snipe was on her status as a fledgling "shinobi" trying to defeat a 2,000 year old vampire with special scrolls she couldn't decipher.
And depending on your stance on enemies-to-lovers, the one actual fight Donnie and Venus had because... he was playing his music too loud while she was trying to meditate.
Like for all the griping about her being "just" a love interest there was effectively fuck all in evidence for it. Those listed above are moments you could attempt to make the argument from. But only those. She fought with them the same, goofed up the same, got into shenanigans the same. She was out here with her little braid, minding her business and being a fifth turtle.
...Lemme move on because this IS becoming longer than I intended but to reiterate: Venus wasn't related to the boys in TNM, isn't related to the boys in IDW. Now she can be related to them in any of y'all's little headcanons. It doesn't have to be and frankly isn't a big deal, work out your own issues before making it everyone else's.
The characterization was sort of shallow sure, barring a few of the hallmark traits showing up during downtime for the turtles in-show. For that I'm attributing it to the Monster of the Day format they had for most of the episodes on top of there only being one season. There were only a few little threads that could've found fruit had there been a second season like originally planned. Leo and his finding a New Way to live as ninja, Shredder escaping with the golden shuriken, the Good Dragon who's still out there albeit back in the mirror trapped with the other, apparently good, dragons. Donnie having been brainwashed. Quease doing anything really.
I loved the things they tried, a whole new roster of antagonists minus the staple like Shredder. Starting the show with them being on the cusp of adulthood. Splinter having a life outside his sons and a cute friendship with a guy he plays chess in the park with. That Venus was from a different discipline than ninjutsu, and the entire worldbuilding that implies.
Sure childhood nostalgia is doing a loooot of heavy lifting in my positive attitude about the show but liiiiike everyone knows the show wasn't great, from a variety of points. It's as close to objectively bad as you can get for a show.
So like, and? Nothin'.
Like panning for pretty rocks, not necessarily gold with this show. I fucks with Next Mutation, and Venus is a bonus.
Acknowledging the fact that quality waxes and wanes, and even if you only watched the series partway through…
#reminds me I still gotta do that Next Mutation and Rise parallels gag comic#if only for me and bulba in the end#those two shows have more in common than people realize#(or wanna admit)#Venus not being in Rise made me sad a little bit#but it's not that deep#and we got Frida out of it#technically she got her little nod in Clothes Don't Make the Turtle#Venus de Magic: Queen of the Quick Change#and like NM did Rise was doing its own thing#WHICH I'D LIKE A FUCKING 3 4 5 6 7TH SEASON OF#just fucking tmnt series that didn't get their chance properly#where the fuck is the third bay movie huh#WHERE IS IT#IF YOU GUYS WEREN'T SUCH FUCKING ASSHOLES TO THE ACTORS--#ooh bitch lemme not#fucking#demon hours ranting#king you didn't see me still awake

I'll probably regret this note later, but I need to sort my thoughts on this somehow, so let it be. It's not a review, not a feedback, it’s just a skein of thoughts.
Let me start from afar: I wasn't going to watch Joker: Folie à Deux after all the scathing reviews I've seen. But then I accidentally found out that Sylvain Chomet took part in the creation of the credits for it, and I decided: to hell with it, at least for the sake of the credits, but I have to see it. I'll watch the first part and then the sequel in a row.
And now I'm in such contradictory feelings that it's hard to describe.
Don't get me wrong: this is a really bad movie. Everything about it is broken beyond repair: the genre, the plot, the pace of the narrative, the dialogues, the characters’ development arcs. Everything that could be screwed up is screwed up…
…on purpose.
The team that made the first movie couldn't have made its sequel so exceptionally bad by accident. It's really pure sabotage.
And from that point of view, this picture is genius. Joker: Folie à Deux is the bloody Taras Bulba of the cinema world. “I gave you life, I will also kill you!” Todd Phillips says from the screen with every misplaced song, every drawn-out scene, every gratuitous feint. I know of only two precedents of this sort, and both are from the world of literature, not cinema. Burgess, who considered and told everyone that A Clockwork Orange is unworthy of attention and even dangerous to read, and Conan Doyle, who hated Sherlock Holmes so much that he tried to kill Sherlock, but had to resurrect him anyway to meet the public's desires.
Joker: Folie à Deux truly fell victim to its creator's hatred of both the character and the industry that demands to put a comma, or even never-ending ellipses, to the place where a period is unquestionably placed. I can only applaud Phillips’ courage to bring this statement to the screens so unashamedly explicitly.
What I can't neither understand, nor justify, on the other hand, is Phillips' apparent inability to draw the line between fiction and reality. To treat a character as a real-living person is sacrilege. A fictional character, no matter how vivid and solid this character is, is still a character who is meant to tell a story, to be a tool, a prism through which the viewer or reader perceives certain events. For some unknown reason, Phillips hates his character, or, to be more precise, his actions, as if he was a real person. And this statement he conveys through the story of Arthur Fleck in the second part in full. Phillips literally forces his character to become pathetic, so that God forbid anyone to have pity for him or desire to empathize and sympathize with him, forces the character to personally debunk the image he himself created, as if telling us from the screen: “Wake up, idiots, this is not the way it fucking happens”.
Thanks for the revelation, bro, we're aware. We're watching a movie. A fictional story about fictional people.
I can kind of understand that level of judgement from people who’re not involved into creating any fictional stories, at least it’s explainable, but from a person who is a long-term director himself? Never. That's a level of judgement like "videogames make people violent".
I'm fully convinced that if there was to be a second part of Joker, it shouldn't have been about him. Arthur Fleck's story didn't need a continuation, at least not a direct one. But the world Phillips created in the first movie still had plenty of material to explore, and Harleen Quinzel's character could have mediated that journey for us. She is a fan of a serial killer (there is a wagonload of such people in reality), a person living in illusions, a victim of a fake idol. You want a musical? Let it be. In her head. Like that very episode of Scrubs, you know which I mean. But it had to be her story. Not Joker’s/Arthur’s story. Not a love story, not at all — or rather, not a story about the romantic kind of love that Phillips mocks and makes fun of for the entire sequel. It must have been a story of love that was fanatical, sick, false a priori, doomed to shatter in the end. In this story, Joker was needed purely in the background, not as a real character, but as an image in fantasies, and then Harleen, blinded by his fame she extols over herself or anything in her dull unremarkable reality, would’ve been our guide to the world that was changed by Joker’s unintentional influence, and I think you yourself are quite capable of realizing how many subjects could’ve been explored in interesting, multifaceted ways from such a delicious starting point. Not to mention the fact that it's just one variant of the starting point, because the main character could have been someone other than Harleen, and the time period relative to the events of the original could’ve been different... well, you got it, there was plenty of material to explore and develop.
And that's a damn shame it wasn’t.
One thing I know for sure is that I will not forget this movie. It's a fascinating specimen that I'll put in my personal mental cabinet of curiosities for two reasons. Adoration for how filigree bad it is — it takes courage, ingenuity, and a lot of resilience to do so, for any creator; and frustration over the fact that a really existing potential that could’ve been perfectly brought into existence in talented hands was thrown into the trashcan because of the creator's mere lack of understanding (which is doubly ironic in the context of the movie I’m talking about) of where the line between fiction and reality lies.

Do you have an idea for your own Darkwing Duck arc?
I love your artwork especially the one with Drake and LP fishing! It looks straight out of a watercolor graphic novel. You’ve got the facial expressions of Drake’s grumpy but endearing personality down to a T.
AHH THANKYOU SMM!!! I REALLY APPRECIATE IT :D
I had a lot of fun drawing that piece, I'm glad you enjoyed it (≧▽≦)
--
As for the question, that's interesting to think about. I don't often think about more potential stories for the Darkwing universe, aside little bits and pieces here and there (mainly a long overdue holiday for the mallard family that doesn't result in fighting crime–they deserve a little break, I think about that cruise Dw wanted to take Lp on in 'All's Fahrenheit in love and war' all the time )
BUT.
There is ONE potential thing I wish was explored and that's a final/ third showdown with Taurus Bulba. I've rambled on about it in a previous post, but Bulba is such an important villain in the show–having a genuine impact on the cast. Not to mention at the end of 'The Steerminator', Bulba says something along the lines of 'This isn't the last you'll see of me', INTENDING we'd get to see more, but that never happened.
I think it would've been very interesting to conclude the story of Taurus Bulba, especially with how 'The Steerminator' ended. We were shown that both Darkwing and Gosalyn struggled with his return, both having a moment of panic when seeing him (which is sososo interesting)
BUT ALSO. Before he became part robot, he was a lot more rational and calculated–which in some way made him a lot more dangerous than let's say megavolt. He's already a lot more threatening than any other villain of the show. But in 'The Steerminator', he's lost parts of himself, being a lot easier to anger, he acts more on impulse. But he's a lot stronger physically. Pairing that with Darkwing's fear of getting Gosalyn hurt or worse, (and kind of dying himself) + Gosalyn's trauma regarding him–it would be incredibly interesting to see just how'd they'd deal with him for a third time. To deal with Taurus Bulba whose only goal is to get to Darkwing and potentially succeed because of how much he knows about them; their fears and weaknesses.
I really do think it could have been such a cool way to end the show, or just have an episode regarding Bulba's final arc and explore Dw's and Gosalyn's characters further. (I know Bulba appears in the comics, but I'm not really counting those here.)
Mmmmmmm
Not much else, though I do wonder what the transition period looked like for Drake after the Darkly Dawns the Duck. He'd spent so long alone, lowk isolating himself (man didn't even have a house 😮💨) and suddenly he lived in a neighborhood with a family? I believe that would've been difficult, ESPECIALLY for him. He's shown throughout the show that he finds people to be difficult to be around, not to mention his tendencies to overwork and disconnectment from the identity of 'Drake Mallard' (a clash reunion reference to where he lost his mask. He doesn't particularly value himself without the costume due to years of being unimportant and hardly acknowledged) and in 'Water Way to Go' he claimed to "get manically depressed on the weekends" (do what u will with that)
I know cartoon wise, they wouldn't explore that aspect of Drake re-adjusting to civilian life again, but I still like to imagine it. I think Drake's character is soso interesting and that little period specifically could have been intriguing. I don't think I've come across any fic delving into that yet either 😞.
(bonus detail: Drake actually didn't have his temper as a child. In his backstory episodes, he doesn't really possess it. In clash reunion he is kinda full of himself, but he's not angry to the point of lashing out at someone. This flaw only develops after he'd become an adult and lived in the tower alone for who knows how long 💀)
RIGHT WELL THAT'S IT. I REALLY LIKE TALKING ABOUT THIS SHOW, APOLOGIES FOR HOW LONG THIS IS 🙏
#so this is a BIT long#mb#chat im still thinking about another Taurus Bulba episode#i need it in my life#pretty please#i hope this rambling made sense#uh#little drake character nerding out at the end#i really do love him a lot#i think about how he would've adjusted to a new life so much too#jdk why ive never talked about it#okay bye#THANKS FOR THE QUESTION#I HOPE I ANSWERED IT 💀#darkwing duck#darkwing duck 1991#drake mallard#dwd91#gosalyn mallard#gosalyn waddlemeyer#taurus bulba#another keegan rant

What are your thoughts on the DuckTales reboot of the DWD characters?
I didn’t really like Launchpad’s characterization in the DT reboot, but he was alright when he was with Drake.
And I do like how the show made sure to make LP and Drake friends first and not have LP be a huge fan of DW. That was something I definitely liked over the original DW show.
I actually love how Drake Mallard was portrayed in the reboot. He still had a bit of an ego but it wasn’t super over the top like in the original show, and I think having Drake take on the persona of a tv show character was an interesting twist on the character that I liked. They kept his hatred for Gizmoduck but made him friends with Fenton, which was hilarious.
I also liked how Drake and Gosalyn didn’t necessarily get along at first. It was a slow process of trust between the two of them, but still kept the family bond between the both of them.
I thought Taurus Bulba was alright. I mean, he served his purpose as a character but I didn’t think he was as intimidating as the the original character. His voice definitely was not as great as the original.
How they changed the ramrod (the machine built by Professor Waddlemeyer) in “Let’s Get Dangerous” ended up being so much better than in the original show. In the original DW show, the ramrod was basically just a giant magnet. But when they changed the device to be a portal to other dimensions? That’s so much cooler!
The Fearsome Four were amazing! Especially Bushroot’s zombie-like redesign. I don’t really have any complaints with how they were handled. Although I did miss Liquidator’s slogans.
Now Negaduck/Jim Starling? The only complaint I have with him is that he was never brought back after his debut episode. I think he was supposed to be in “Let’s Get Dangerous” but they couldn’t find a place for him in the episode that would do him justice. Which I understand, but he never showed up again in the series and I don’t know if the new DW reboot (if that ever comes out) is supposed to follow the DT reboot versions of the characters or just a whole new thing.
I think that having Jim Cummings voice Jim Starling and have him turn into Negaduck was brilliant. Negaduck wasn’t an alternate dimension version of DW that popped out nowhere, he was a forgotten actor from a forgotten tv show that only saw himself as the character he played. He was so obsessed in preserving his identity in this made up character that he literally went insane and became the evil mirrored version of that character when someone else assumed the role. That is brilliant. But like I said unless they actually make a DW reboot and put that version of Negaduck then we’ll never see him again. Which is highly disappointing because (call me crazy) but I like this version of Negaduck over the original.
Oh right, Steelbeak. Um….I hate him in the reboot. I don’t like his voice in the DT reboot and they made his characterization: “*insulted voice*: “I’m not stupid!”. Which got annoying real quick and he was no where near as clever as he was in DWD. Which is a real shame because Steelbeak was such a good character and they did him such a disservice in the DT reboot.
I think that’s all they put in the reboot? If there’s anyone I missed let me know.

I may have missed a spot:
I thought about this being a cloud, but it doesn't match the style of the other clouds...the shape is way too round, and there's no indication of a shadow underneath...it's doesn't exactly match the usual look of the Moon in this show, but its shown up without extra details at least a couple of time before. (One being "Impossibin" above and another being "Gander") And it is the daytime; the Moon would look a lot more dull in comparison to what it would look like at night.
Could this be some weird visual error that got through? Possibly.
But if I'm right about this...that would mean:
Launchpad was hit by a powerful ray of light, under a different persona, in a cloudy environment, where the Moon was present. And then afterwards, fell from a great height, towards a body of water. And because of this experience, he's unable to recall a significant amount of important information.
...Why does that sound very close to something I've been theorizing about...waaay before this episode aired? 🤨
The Moon was only visible in this shot. It's not shown in other parts of scene.
Was it originally supposed to be more present, and they forgot to take it out here? Or was it purposely placed in a more hidden way to, uh...hint at something?
"This whole night is my fault!"
LP falling towards water and reverting back into his regular self, makes me think of Bulba's line about doing something "big and splashy to announce ourselves to the world."...though, that is largely because I misunderstood "announce" with "reintroduce" somehow. Eh, not too far off. Anyway...isn't the phrase normally "big and flashy"? I know Liquidator was standing next to Bulba, but he wasn't talking directly to him. Making it more aquatic when it normally isn't, felt strange...like it was meant to reference back to what the dramatic, slow motion scene to "Crash Twice" may have been trying to convey...that Launchpad coming back to Earth was a big spectacle.
Ever since "Moonvasion!", I've been wondering if LP was mistaken as a space rock entering the atmosphere, when he was really "a guy this whole time". Something similar to the what Donald's return looked like. when he escaped from Lunaris.
It would make a lot of sense for these episodes to be connected in general. I mean, both of them were very Launchpad focused with F.O.W.L. and Darkwing elements. And Dewey even openly compared the main storyline for "Dangerous", to The Spear of Selene in a conversation with Gosalyn. 🤔
While I'm mainly talking about the third season, there are multiple "throwaway" statements throughout it that continue to stick out to me...
LP in "Ragnorok" about being Captain Crash "this whole time" in a surprising twist...Drake later being convinced that LP was Gizmoduck this "whole time", and Gosalyn responding in a tired, disappointed way...
LP claiming in "Last Adventure" that getting kidnapped by an evil company while looking for a phone charger in an office, is something that "happens all the time", but didn't happen in the situation he speculated about...oddly specific...
The end credit song for "Ragnarok" not making sense in context...talking about a hero going out into the night sky, not spoiling for a fight, when the WHOLE episode was about fighting...the mountain climb parts feel very reminiscent of "Neverrest" and it's hard not to think of pilots when there's any mention of flying involved...another episode with a Launchpad focus
Even as far back as S1, LP was claiming in "Selene" that he always says "better to be safe than...whatever the opposite of safe is", with Scrooge being confused by this. Then in S2, there was a similarly structured conversation when Glomgold was going through amnesia...wearing Launchpad's colors...
Very strange indeed.
The Moon in Season 3
…Or at least so far. And as many moments as I could fit into one photo post.
Even with Della’s return and Lunaris’ defeat, the moon continues to have a consistent focus. It tends to linger in the background during some pretty interesting times…🤔

⤷ Day 11: Kageyama Tobio + stargazing
—Synopsis: even at one year of marriage, Kageyama continues to look at you like he did that one night, the night he realized you were the prettiest star in the sky
Word Count: 1.2k
Fluffvember Masterlist
One year anniversaries always hit different, especially when it’s for one full year of marriage.
You and Tobio were celebrating this milestone together at a local hotpot place and his former team was getting drunk off sake so you two went out to get a breather. It wasn’t that you didn’t love the rowdy bunch; after all, you were their manager for two years in high school.
You had to admit, you were getting a little tipsy as well from the alcohol and was wobbling a bit as you travelled up the hill with your husband. Kageyama clicked his tongue before throwing his suit jacket over your head to keep you from the cold.
“We both know how much of an idiot you are when drunk but I didn’t think you’d lose your head this quickly,” Kageyama mutters as he laces his fingers with yours in order to keep you balanced.
You managed nothing more than a drowsy smile as you leaned into your lover. He’s grown a lot since high school, you thought to yourself, and not just in the physical sense. Sure, he’s a 6’2 188lb hunk of volleyball prodigy, but he’s also developed a sense of empathy and compassion that he was missing for so long.
When the two of you reach your destination not too far from the restaurant, you’re astonished. Right before you was an array of twinkling stars that expanded far past your eyes’ horizon. Your audible gasp makes Kageyama chuckle before gently helping you sit on the grass.
You point out the brightest star you see and Kageyama doesn’t understand a clue of what you’re explaining and that’s due to both your incoherence when drunk and his lack of knowledge on astrology.
After elaborating on all the stars you could recognize, you raise your left hand and spread your fingers out before you. You’re admiring the ring your husband had proposed to you with and that unlocks a memory of one starry night so long ago...
“Kageyama, that’s enough practice for one day!” You lecture, pointing your finger at him and furrowing your eyebrows as he sets the ball to Hinata for the 34th after practice had already ended.
He scoffs at you without looking in your direction, “who are you? My mother?”
You laugh humourlessly, “no, but I am your girlfriend,” the sound of the ball hitting the floor echoes through the gym as Kageyama finally looks your way, “and as your girlfriend, I’m telling you that you’ve done more than enough for today... let your body rest.”
He huffs a sigh as he realizes you had a point and mumbles a goodbye to an enthusiastic Hinata before grabbing his bag with one hand and yours in the other. You wave goodbye to the orange-haired boy as well before catching up to your boyfriend.
Nothing screamed overkill like walking home together an hour after the whole team had left and the moon was directly up in the sky. You shake your head at your boyfriend’s overworking antics but you can’t help but feel a sense of pride at how hard he works to fulfill his dream.
Taking your bag from his hand and replacing it with your hand was instinctual and he squeezed your hand back as if it were a natural reaction for him, which it was.
The road home was tiring as most of it was uphill. Not to mention the cold air was enough to push you down the hill if it weren’t for Tobio’s support.
“This is why I’m always telling you to workout with me,” he complains, “you’re like a feather.”
“I am not!” You declare before ripping your hand out of his and marching up the hill by yourself in furious determination.
But the sight you saw was not something you were prepared for. On the top of the hill was the perfect view to the starry heavens. Kageyama jogs up after you spewing random phrases of how working out would be an amazing bonding experience for the two of you when he’s cut short by the sight as well. Judging from the agape expression on his face, he was just as bewildered as you were.
His hand is grabbing onto yours again in a subconscious act of love. How could seeing millions of stars in one place not make you think of what a minuscule amount of existence you have in this lifetime and it’s scary.
“Are you having and existential crisis?” He asks, predicting your very thought. He’s used to it by now, your overly philosophical thoughts that are borderline too corny to be spoke aloud, but that’s all part of your charm.
“So what if I am?” You respond, still marvelling at the stars.
He pulls you down towards the grass with your head on his chest. This allows you to see the stars right above you and it’s quite the experience.
You start to chuckle mischievously before swinging your legs over your boyfriend’s torso to lock him in place before attacking him in a fit of tickles. And oh my god if there was anyone in the world who was weak to tickles, it would be Kageyama Tobio.
He’s in the middle of both a laugh and a grunt of struggle but either way you’re satisfied just to see the smile on his face.
“This is way better than that disgusting frown from earlier in the gym,” you say, moving to get off your boyfriend but he holds you in place.
“I’m sorry for being so disrespectful in the gym earlier, you know I’m a snappy idiot.”
You shake your head reassuringly before laying your cheek on his chest, “mmm, it’s alright Tobio,” you murmur, “I’m just happy you’re happy.”
He pushes you up by the shoulders and his eyes do not waver when he says his next words, “you know I’ll love you forever right?”
It was so silly, really, because only a silly little boy would promise a forever love with his high school girlfriend, but his eyes held the same look of determination he has when setting a ball and you couldn’t bring yourself to tell him otherwise. All you could do was nod in pure elation as he pulls you back down into an embrace.
“One day, I’ll get you a ring far bigger and sparklier than the stars in your sky...”
The memory dissipates as you feel your eyelids getting heavy. Your body automatically sinks into your husband’s and he scoffs at the sight before buttoning the top button of his suit jacket that was currently hung over your shoulders in order to keep you warm.

VILLAIN REVIEW: KING ANDRIAS (AMPHIBIA)
Voiced by: Keith David
First Appearance: Marcy at the Gates
Admittedly, Amphibia didn't instantly hook me in ways that Gravity Falls or the Owl House had. The first season was okay what with the worldbuilding and stuff. But Season 2 definitely improved especially because of this guy.
BIOGRAPHY
Thousands of years ago, he was the ruler of Newtopia who was in charge of the Calamity Box, an interdimensional device that could allow people to travel to other worlds. From there, he claimed that his ancestors were peaceful explorers who used the box to communicate. One day, the box was stolen with him believing his two former friends betrayed him. From there, Newtopia lost a bit of its greatness....
At least until the day Anne Boonchuy, Marcy Wu, and Sasha Waybright inadvertently end up in Amphibia after Anne is peer pressured into stealing the box from an antique store. From there, in his own words, the game could finally begin.
PERSONALITY
Keith David does a brilliant job portraying the king of Amphibia. At first glance, Andrias comes off as being a jovial, childish monarch who comes across as a "kewl grandpa", not spelled "cool," but "K-E-W-L." He comes off as delighted with helping Anne and the girls find a way back home...maybe a bit too eager. Honestly, the first time that I have seen him, I already mentally worked it out that he would be a bad guy because a lot of those kings in cartoons turn out as such. Not to say that it really takes away from the overall performance, it is just kind of obvious.
Yet, there are several subtle hints of his true nature just at the surface such as when he and Marcy conduct research on the Calamity Box and find a secret passageway that he "did not know about." If you notice, he has a smug smile across his face before joining Marcy in the passage.
But it's once his true colors are exposed where he truly shines. To make it short and simple, Andrias is evil. Purely and simply evil. So far, he has all the cards as likely becoming one of the most evil of the Disney animated television shows, possibly competing with the heavier hitters like Lunaris, Bulba, or Bill freaking Cipher.
He is ruthless: he wants to rule over all worlds with an iron fist and will absolutely NOT let anything come in between him and his schemes. He can kill a sapient robot without batting an eye and then the next moment smoothly try to batter a baby frog with his fist. If you have a best friend, he'd think nothing of dangling them over a window and threaten to drop them if his demands are not met. And then do so anyway because he is a dick.
Make no mistakes: Andrias passes the criteria for a sociopath with glowing colors. He is manipulative. He puts on the superficial charm of a grandfather-like figure while secretly stringing people along and manipulating them like chess pieces. What he does to Marcy is the dickish cherry on top of the douchebag sundae. He exploits a 13-year-old's desperation of wanting to stay with her two best friends and pretends to empathize with her even offering her a deal that he knew was like sweet nectar to her: when he invades other worlds, she and her friends will travel the worlds together having several amazing adventures.
He lacks empathy or emotional attachments. Already you have some people going off the trailer for season 3 saying that Andrias definitely was fond of Marcy because she was shown in a rejuvenation machine. Sure, I can totally see where people are coming from. I mean, it's not like it was his own fault for putting her there to begin with. That's a crazy thought. In all seriousness, he only sees Marcy as a pawn in his schemes and his only response to stabbing her is an irritated "Now look what you made me do." Way to blame the victim for your own acts, Andrias.
He had two friends thousands of years ago that even now it is apparent he holds resentment towards them for "betraying" him. Him deciding to drop Sprig was him basically wanting Anne to go through the same pain he felt when he was "wronged." But that does nothing to EXPLAIN why he is such a sociopathic megalomaniac. If anything, how the episode plays it off is that his "friends" betrayed him because he was a psychotic salamander with delusions of grandeur. Given how much of a bully he was once he was revealed to be evil, I am really wondering if that could have also played into it. But it looks like the show is doing this to make Andrias more of a foil for Anne and her two friends.
And, currently, he has absolutely no remorse for any of his actions. He giddily reveals Marcy's secret that she was the one who deliberately stranded herself and her friends in Amphibia in the first place even when he knew that she told him that in confidence. He then mockingly apologizes for "spilling the tea."
And what is a sociopath if not egotistical? Andrias believes that he alone should rule over not just Amphibia, but the Earth, and other worlds. He doesn't care whether or not people will bow to his rule as the tapestry itself shows. He is standing over a pile of bones making it very explicit what his invasions will result in should Anne and her team fail to stop him.
But I will not deny that he is a scarily competent threat who doesn't mess around.
ABILITIES
He has lived for 1,000+ years. It is not confirmed if it has to do with the particular breed of salamander he is, or if his longevity comes in part due to his 13-eyed master whom he is helping accomplish this "revenge" by subverting a prophecy having to do with the three human girls.
Besides his manipulation and charisma, Andrias is a competent fighter. Despite being colossal and a bit on the chunky side, he is surprisingly agile and wields a flaming sword. He is also insanely stout. Even when Anne goes Super Saiyan mode on his ass, he could still hold his ground with the use of his shield.
He also has knowledge over machinery and can command his robo-frog army with ease.
FINAL SCORE
Biography: 6
Personality:
Abilities: 7
Overall: 7/10

Buh buh buh special day and my recent scheming. And insanity.
jokes this took several fucking days for me to get too what due to. eh. having feelings about it. unfortunate. but do it [feeling word not found] right?
sept 1 was special guys bdayyyyyyyy. soooooooooo. idk i did a lot of things and i was keeping secret and idk explaining as catharsis and exposure therapy for sharing that kinda stuff. art? (and crafts....) process blogging. call it that.
Move one v
[ID: Painting of rise raph and bulba's mona lisa dancing. Raph drawn with a big spikey tail. They are connect by one arm each between them, clasped at the foreams, everything in motion around that pivot point. Mona's kercheif and pants, Raph's mask ends, and both their tails all movie with it. Raph has one foot kicked out behind him, and Mona has her free arm raised above her head. The background is just colours, warm around them, fading off to green then blue at the edges. END]
i just like them............. obviously.. inspired by all his pieces with them. ah.
oh yeah and its important u know they would both like discoy type music. so thats what the music would be.
POSE. soo so so extremely loose based on smth i saw watching old vids. monas more so than raphs cause. vibes. idk. his job be cute and look at cute girl. getting pulled in. literally. have fun. whatever.
the paint is legit just like. absolute whatever kids paint in the big chunky pallet. 👍🏻 woooo.
sketches sketches sketches.
[ID: A loose pencil sketch of the above painting, Raphs legs are in a different position, the tail just barely indicated. their faces are closest to the same. END ID]
This paper i like sketching on its smooooother... but i think it would collaspe under the paint. alas.
[ID: The pencil drawing/linework of the painting. theres a differnt number of spikes on Raph's shell and Mona's free hand is in a different position. END ID]
you know. clean that shit up. and such. better raph for sure. btw btw. i do transfer the drawings loosely by taping them to a window...... and then had to agonize on getting monas face details. WAS NOT cooperating. so also took pic of sketch 1. and used my phone. also as light box. type deal. thumbs up. I think i still like sketch one mona head better but whatever i can still look at that one too
[ID: 1. Small painting sketch, in a similar style to the finished one. There are extra colours in the background, colour bleed like speed lines on some of the fabrics. some yellow lines swirling around them. 2. Much less detailed, just laying down colours on ther forms. Mainly correcting the colour of raphs shell from brown to green, and the shades on the inner and outer parts of mona's pants. END ID]
i had at that point painted like 3 things and 2 of them were just mona (T_T i love her) and none of em had a background. now its like. techically 6 things and 5 of them are. Mona.... Anyway u know the vibes. night time dancing only two the room. these sorts of things.
and why did i tthink raphs shell was brown? ive only seen the show like.... 5 times thru MINIMUM.
okay okay.... also that was the main thing i planed and then. I shit you not. looking for an envelop i found fucking shrinky dink paper. YEAH. NO LIKE. okay so i went insane.
vv move 2
[ID: Both are shrinky dinks, little plastic charms, being held up between my fiingers. They show mona leaning forward, one hand on her hip, throwing a peace sign with the other hand. 1. Smaller and cut into an odd shape, with no hole for a string. The colours are lighter but a bit patchy. an assortment of colours outline the drawing. 2. Bigger with thicker lines and smoother colours. And a dark blue outline. END ID]
I. SHRUG?? the small one was like. to be a test from a scrap piece. thats why theres so many colours in the back. i wanted to see what would look best? BUT. jokes... my hand hurt to much so i just did dark blue cause i had a marker. THE POINT IS. i AGAIN kinda see charm (badum tsk) in both so i just send both. and swear off pencil crayons.
MOVE THE THIRD
[ID: pancakes in a white container. there are four different colours visible, red, orange, blue and purple. END ID]
Duh. my brand....... cake is passé anyway [this uses less eggs AND uh. idk who doesnt like pancakes...] the usual suspects on this one. purple is a hard colour to do and over mixing will fuck your shit up. BUT. whateverrrrrrrrrrrr. tasty. vessel for syrup. and whimsy.
UHHHH anyway yeah thats why i went insane at the end of august. OKAY BYE.
.
#some shit#UHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. no yeah im just gonna post other wise i never will#keep looking around like. am allowed to do this? obviously i am i can do whatever i want#i also DONT have to but ive decided i will.

To inject some Ducktales positivity back on this blog, what are your favorite episodes from each season?
Sorry this one got a little buried in the inbox 😅 onto it now!
FAVS!
Oh. Good question. Um. Honestly I love most of the episodes and there's only a few I genuinely hate. Sadly though they can't all be winners 😅 So I picked ones the ones I enjoyed overall best from each season.
Season 1:
Woo-oo!, The House of the Lucky Gander, McMystery at McDuck Manor, The Missing Links of Moorshire, The Spear of Selene, Beware the Buddy System, From the Confidential Casefiles of Agent 22, The Secrets of Castle McDuck, Who Is Gizmoduck, The Other Bin of Scrooge McDuck, The Last Crash of the Sunchaser, The Shadow War
Top pick: The Shadow War
I think this is one of the best episodes overall in terms of the show. It has family, heartbreak and reconciliation, action, drama, humor, I think this one is Ducktales at it's best. Much as I do also enjoy Moonvasion a lot, I kinda feel this one is the stronger finale. Either way though it's definitely a grand finale.
Season 2:
The Most Dangerous Game Night, The Depths of Cousin Fethry, The Town Where Everyone was Nice, Storkules in Duckburg, Whatever Happened to Della Duck, Friendship Hates Magic, Raiders of the Doomsday Vault, the Dangerous Chemistry of Gandra Dee, The Duck Knight Returns, Whatever Happened to Donald Duck, A Nightmare on Killmotor Hill, Moonvasion
Top Pick: The Duck Knight Returns
So some of Darkwing Duck hasn't aged the best but I think overall the show is great. And out of all the Disney Afternoon programs to include in Ducktales, Darkwing is definitely the best. And oh my gosh did they deliver! The new Drake is still recognizable in comparison to his 91 version but still gets a modernization. The relationship between him and LP is even better than before, the battle with Jim Starling is so much fun. Chris D does a phenomenal job as this newer Drake and Jim Cummings finally appearing on the show as Jim Starling/Negaduck was AWESOME.
Season 3:
The Challenge of the Senior Junior Woodchucks, Quack Pack, Double-O-Drake in You Only Crash Twice, The Lost Harp of Mervana, Louie's Eleven, Astro B.O.Y.D., The Phantom and the Sorceress, They Put a Moonlander on Earth, The Trickening, Let's Get Dangerous, Escape from the ImpossiBin, The Split Sword of Swanstatine, New Gods on the Block, The First Adventure, Beaks in the Shell
Top Pick: This one is legit a tie for me so I have to split it between Let's Get Dangerous and Louie's Eleven
Both of these episodes fill me with intensive joy i different ways. I get giddy whenever they're on O just love them. Let's Get Dangerous rocks even more of the amazing Drake and Launchpad dynamic (and yes I ship them) and we finally get Gosalyn. Like Drake she definitely resembles her 91 self in a way that's recognizable but she's also got a good modernization. Also I love how they modernized Taurus Bulba. He was instantly likable yet also crafty and very dangerous. Then also getting to see the Fearsome Four, getting a pretty hilarious DT87 reference "A SEA MONSTER ATE MY ICE CREAM!" The way the music swelled when Gosalyn couldn't shut off the Ramrod and prepared to destroy it, tears in her eyes. UGH GOOD STUFF. This episode has to be one of favorites.
But also love Louie's Eleven too much to not want it to be the top episode too. I adore healthy portrayals of Donsy and here we were delivered. It was refreshing to get to have Donald and Daisy meeting for the first time and have their portrayal instantly be healthier. Sure we still see some of that temper Daisy is known for too but thankfully not as bad as it can be. The way she instantly understands him. The way they smile at each other. When she hears him sing, she hears more than just his rough voice but rather the soul behind it. LOVE. And the way they team up to take on Graves and his team. The way Donald says "MY KIDS!" WHAT A DAD, I LOVE HIM. And the way at the end Donald sings and Daisy says she can listen to it all night and the two share such a loving look. I JUST ADORE IT.
And more than just the Donsy aspect of this episode, this was just ridiculously fun. Love the heist/scheme op at play. Love Louie getting to be Louie until he finally has to rely on his big brother Dewey. Then Dewey gets to Dewey it. And it's phenomenal. And of freaking course THE THREE CABALLEROS! YAY! I love them!!! This was just such a good episode I can't help but love it.
This is just my opinion though overall. This is not an attack on any episode or on anyone. I actually love this show overall I know I've been a bit critical lately but it's a really important show to me. Sad that it's over but happy it did happen.

Hello dear writer/artist/wonderful human being,
Tumblr just showed me one of your posts and I realised that I never told you how amazed I am by your prose both in the game and on your blog (I feel simply calling it writing doesn‘t cut it). How you put your thoughts, emotions and atmosphere into descriptions and dialogue is absolutely stunning to me and feels ‘artsy‘ to me in the best possible way. I love this particular very inner-workings/stream of consciousness (?) based storytelling (I‘m not a literature expert, it‘s just how I would describe it). It made me fall absolutely in love with your characters while also being in awe/slightly intimidated of/by them - which I think works very well with the atmosphere you‘re creating, especially in scenes with Charet (which is again supported by the music and your amazing art).
I can‘t wait to play more of it someday (and until then I‘m just gonna replay it over and over again) and hope you feel appreciated by this <3
Have a lovely day ~
...
Thank you so much.
Your messages left me speechless - and it is very difficult for me to describe, with all the possible colors of the language, how much they inspired and brought me into a state of delight for a long time, helping to work on new, more complex projects long before I had the courage to write this response text.
And I yearned and suffered from the fact that I could not think of something worthy that could show at least a part of my gratitude and admiration for your softness and feelings, and I would like my answer to seem complicated and interesting this time, since I would never want to leave you empty-handed. Yesterday morning, a very strange, special and inherently distant insight came to me - and I hasten to share with you everything that came to my mind, and I hope that you will like it more uwu
The difficulty was also that I am not so much fond of fiction in the traditional concept - my pace of life is restless and changeable, and, as a rule, I have enough patience and perseverance only for poetry and short stories, guided to a greater extent by a sense of aesthetics and associations (because yes, my writing style is a stream of consciousness and you completely hit the mark - I can't write in any other way, except relying on feelings and impressions * --- *) than a serious approach to the plot and idea. Apart from literature (and any other sources), which would be too hackneyed and understandable in its fame, it seemed to me that there were very few things that could interest and impress you, but now I want to think that I was wrong.
The list that I have sketched consists of writers and poets, who are united by the main thing - the fact that they are equally representatives of the same culture with me, and their feelings and aesthetics, colorfulness and sense of language were with me from the beginning of my early years and formed my idea of the world and about the art of writing in general. In other matters, I do not think that the writing style and elements of history and culture will be simple and understandable - I myself have not always felt attraction and warm feelings towards them, but this is something that, I hope, can turn out to be completely new and fresh, not like anything you have experienced before experience, yet close in spirit to what I am myself trying to portray.
Starts from lighter comedies and flamboyant plays and ends in dark fantasy and heavy historical drama. The first of them are very short and read in one gulp - the last are longer, but with a reasonable volume of novels, so they can keep you busy, yet not bored;)
1. "Forest Song" by Lesia Ukrainka. This is a play written in a bright and lively language - but this is a great start if you want to read something light and airy, yet with elements of dark fantasy and Slavic folklore. The combination a little strange at first glance, - this a romantic fairy-tale play that tells about Mavka (a forest nymph), who was in love with a young human man. "Forest Song" is easy to perceive as a poetic fairy tale, but it also has a dark and tragic ending, and raises the theme of human existence in nature and the world in itself - their struggle between feelings, inspiration, brightness of perception and down-to-earthness of life, simple and understandable needs . This play prompted me to think about Margot - as the personification of these worlds and worries, but much darker, heavier and more mysterious, far from human nature.
2. "The Night Before Christmas" by Nikolai Gogol - a writer who has always been the most important and favorite for me, with a rich and varied language which I tried to copy and imitate most of my school years. "Night before Christmas" is included in the collection "Evenings on a Farm near Dikanka", which are equally small masterpieces, but it was "Night" that was a vivid and memorable experience, with such a close aesthetics of a small settlement, a heavy blizzard, creaking snow, and devils, prowling in such a mysterious darkness. This is a comedy with idealized romance - and based on it, both films were made and plays are staged, and it tells about the hopelessly in love with beautiful Oksana blacksmith Vakula, who with a cunning mind captured the devil and forced him to help Vakula in courtship. The story is very down-to-earth and light, but with elements of everyday life and culture of the Ukrainian hinterland, which can either turn out to be an interesting experience or push you away to your liking. There are Christian rituals, and descriptions of everyday life, and witches, and folk beliefs, elements of mundane comedy, the historicity of that era and many bright and partly gloomy aesthetics. This part of the culture is closely related to my thoughts and ideas about Margot, as well as about other characters and travelers from the continent (I was also inspired by the Romanian, Georgian, Mongolian and Tatar cultures equally *---*)
3. "Taras Bulba" by the same Gogol is a historical tragedy, difficult and complex, but with strong artistic elements - with a powerful feeling of a gloomy, dark era, characters in which many real and legendary persons were combined, and although they speak of it as romantic nationalism, I have never perceived it in this way (and I do not advise anyone, given the fact that you can find similar elements in almost every name in this literature). It tells about the Zaporozhye Cossack and his two sons, about the times of long wars and dark ages, and it will be a bright and exciting experience for someone far from this culture - it vividly and richly displays the life and psychology of a country that has long ceased to exist.
4. "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors" by Mikhailo Kotsyubinsky is a dark historical story, written under the strong impression of the gloomy and mysterious culture of the Hutsuls - the Ukrainian culture of highlanders and old pagans, and the story, at first similar to a much heavier and darker version of Romeo and Juliet, smoothly flows into dark fantasy. It contains the complex psychological baggage of the hero, and a colorful description of such a strange and distant culture, the history of blood feuds and marital betrayal, and the dark forces of a crushing and dangerous nature dominating the earth.
Oh, and also, perhaps, if you have an interest in poetry - I have two big names, Ivan Franko and Taras Shevchenko. The first is a bright romantic of Galicia, with deep sensuality and passion, the second is the father of Ukrainian literature, a poet and artist, the son of a difficult and dark era with art to match him.
...
So..
Thank you so much again.
I adore you with all my heart, and of course you can take as many hugs as you want;зз

Breakdown of the latest episode
Ladies and gentlemen, we are about to examines this critical moment in this episode of Ducktales.
Before we’re are going to examine, I would to thank you for the inspiration from this post: https://scream-into-the-voiddd.tumblr.com/post/627864471877124096/or-lost
https://night-rise7474.tumblr.com/post/617628471976427520/fowls-plan
1. The Fountain of Youth
Goldie called Scrooge and accused him for being a “double crossed cad” and said that the Fountain of Youth has had been gone. What we saw that it wasn’t Scrooge did it. The perpetrator was John D. Rockerduck and Jeeves from the previous episode sent their latest intel to the FOWL about the existence of this fountain located in Florida. It’s clearer that the FOWL has had went in before Goldie take it.
2. The Lost Harp of Mervana
The second phone conversation to Scrooge McDuck from Vero. It’s described that the FOWL sent their Eggheads to “contains” The Lost Harp of Mervana. The mermaid people thought they are normal people and unaware these people are the part of the fiendish organization planning to put an end the McDuck.
3. The Solego Circuit
The third phone conversation from Darkwing Duck in St. Canard. It’s safe to said that Steelbeak and Eggheads raid into Drake Mallard’s home. Drake quickly defended himself and attempting to confronting these Eggheads and including Steelbeak. Drake was quickly beaten down with a lot of bruises and he saw that the circuit has had been gone. The FOWL disdained of using the Solego Circuit to creates chaos just like the infamous incident took place in St. Carnard. But there is something need to be crack down carefully of Bradford Buzzard’s quote during the chaos.
A few quotes can excerpt from Bradford Buzzard’s conversation with Taurus Bulba:
I hired you to crack the Solego Circuit for FOWLs master plan and instead you do all this? We’re trying to reign in chaos, not create more of it.
And what if Scrooges family learns the extent of our plot against them? You’re risking the entire operation. How many times must I say it? We are not supervillains.
4. Gene the Genie
The last phone call from Gene and he has never met The Phantom Blot. It’s seem that Phantom Blot has been briefed about the Gene the Genie and captured him without hesitation.
The FOWL is now on the next move. Every items has had been contained and secured by the FOWL. Only remaining artifacts such as the Sword and The Stone.
Where is the Stone? Is it located in the birthplace of the Scrooge McDuck? Only time will tell what’s their next move...
Your little adventure fantasy is coming to an end, McDuck - Bradford Buzzard.
Prancin' aboot with your heads full of eyeballs! Come and get me I say! I'll be waiting on ya with a whiff of the 'ol brimstone. I'm a grim bloody fable... with an unhappy bloody end! - Demoman, Team Fortress 2

Darkwing Duck Reboot
Sleepover
Needless to say, Della was angry when only Lena and Gosalyn showed up at the apartment. She went on a rant about how unsafe and not very practical and that he was likely to get worse if he wasn't in a hospital.
She finally calmed down when Gosalyn said that she and Dewy would be able to visit tomorrow. There was a tiny push back from Scrooge and Webby, the former only wanting to berate Launchpad about crashing the company jeep that he so graciously lent him.
Everyone agreed that Scrooge shouldn't go.
"Wow Gos, your room is cool!" Dewy said as he immediately ran to her bed. The blanket LP had used the night before was still in the living room, so her red fitted sheet and sky blue cover sheet were what was on top. Her pillows all matched in color, but the black was all different textures. On the walls were pictures from different nights that she went on patrol with Drake. As well as a couple with the McDuck crew and LP. The ones with Drake and LP were notably above her bed and had more than the others.
Her curtains were themed from her favorite hockey team. At the end of her bed was also her hockey stick and makeshift gear. Drake and LP didn't get a lot since they split it down the middle. Her desk lamp was Darkwing themed because of that fact. She had a nice, old lady-like rug gifted from the same neighbor that gave her the too big blanket.
"It's very..." Huey said, looking around at the mix-matched room looking for something to compliment. His eyes finally landed on a small shelf with a few books on it. "I like that bookshelf."
"Thanks Huey, but you don't have to lie," Gosalyn said, hopping on the bed next to Dewy. "I know it's not a cool room."
"What? I'm not- lying. I just- really like that shelf."
"Wow, totally convincing there, Huey," Louie said, making Huey growl.
"I'm not good at lying, ok?!" Immediately after saying that, Huey gasped and covered his mouth. Louie smirked.
"Like I said, you don't need to lie," Gosalyn said, waving a hand. Louie then turned to her, same smirk on his beak.
"So Gosalyn," he said, making her slightly uncomfortable. That look reminded her too much of Bulba. "I heard from Beakley that you got suspended. What's that about?"
"Wait-" Huey started.
"What?" Dewy finished, sitting up.
"Oh, uh..." Gosalyn trailed, her hand moving to the back of her neck.
"Woah! Gos, you're trending!" Dewy said, shoving the phone nearly in her face. She was glad for the distraction, but she didn't expect the high def picture of her in her face.
. . .
Violet was watching the TV that was in her room as she sat on her matching lavender sheets. Her window was slightly open, letting the pastel curtains flutter. However, the damp and misty air said rain would soon come, so it would have to close.
"Lena, you were amazing today!" Webby yelled, tackling her friend in a hug. Lena hugged back having missed her friend these few weeks she was here. "You saved so many people! You're a hero!"
"Oh, I just did what anyone would do," Lena dismissed, waving her hand in dismissal.
"They don't think so," Violet said in her monotone voice, her wide eyes the only indication of her emotion.
"What?" Lena said but she didn't want an answer. The news said it for her.
"Ducks and those alike are still raving about the Darkwing Parade Disaster and the little heroes that help Darkdunce-" Lena and Webby both growled at that name "- Defeat the villain that Dark couldn't capture."
"That's right, Katie," the brown hawk said. "And don't get used to me saying that either. I especially liked that little redhead that saved the mayor, or as people are calling her, Red Crossbow."
. . .
"Red Crossbow made St. Canard headlines when she both saved the mayor and Darkwing Duck himself," Dewy read off a tweet from one of the influencer's he followed. "Does the St. Canardian Guardian have his own hero? #RedCrossbow #LittleHeros #Darkwingduckssavior #st.canard #Superheroesstartyoungandimlivingforit!"
"Wow," Louie said, only the slightest tell of him being impressed hidden on his beak. "You got a bigger following than Dewy without even trying. I applaud you."
"I know, right?!" Not the reaction Louie was hoping for as evidenced by him rolling his eyes. Dewy didn't notice, only grabbing Gosalyn's shoulders. "Imagine if I had YOU on my show. I'd get way more than 25 followers. Probably 30- no, 35 followers! Oh! You need a costume! I'm thinking something that screams-"
"No," Gosalyn said.
"You didn't even hear me out!"
"You were going to suggest a big and bright red costume, right?" Dewy started to stammer under her slightly cocky and amused gaze.
"W-what? Noooo. I was just, well,... Ok, fine. Yes, that's what I was going for. But can you blame me?"
"Strategically speaking, it makes the most sense to have an almost unnoticeable costume," Huey said. Louie rolled his eyes and raised one hand from his hoodie pocket to show effect.
"Says the guy who idolizes Gizmoduck!" he said, annoyed. Huey talked about him a lot.
"That is completely different. He has gizmos and gadgets, not to mention one of the greatest minds of our era. No offense, Gos." Huey said as an afterthought. Gosalyn shrugged, not minding. She knew she would likely never be as smart as Fenton, not in any important way. But she found herself gazing at her Darkwing lamp. Could she?
"Wow, just insult Gos, why don't you?"
"I said no offense!"
"Guys, guys, I think your both missing the big point here," Dewy chuckled, hopping off the bed with a near perfect backflip in front of them. "Her publicity. And I've got the perfect plan."
"She needs to have stealth!"
"I don't know," Louie said. "Publicity could equal good money."
"Money isn't the reason for heroism."
"Again, coming from the guy who idolizes Gizmoduck!"
"Hey, the three dorketeers," Gosalyn demanded, standing on her bed. She had easily commanded their attention. "This is my superhero identity." Her eyes glanced at the lamp again before going to the triplets. "And I need some paper."
. . .
"Bluebird, as people are calling her, did ten time more than 'Red Crossbow'," Katie Cockado argued to Kyle [last name, please help]. The hawk just rolled his eyes.
"Really? Not even one moment of reprieve?" He asked.
"No, because, as usual, you're wrong. Bluebird is so much better than that little nobody."
Violet turned off the TV the minute Lena started to have an adverse effect with her magic and emotions.
"Gosalyn isn't a nobody!" She yelled. "She's an awesome hero!"
"No onnnee- none of us are saying that," Webby assured, putting a hand on Lena's. "She's just a stupid old lady. What does she even know about heroics?"
Despite the anger bubbling beneath, Lena smiled at Webby's words. Violet had her hand on her chin, thinking.
"You know, you could very well prove her wrong if you- I mean, Bluebird, teamed up with Red Crossbow." Lena tore her eyes away from Webby in surprise. The latter elbowed the former playfully.
"Bluebird, huh? Has a nice ring to it." Lena was quiet for a moment, then chuckled as she rolled her eyes and muttered a whatever. Webby and Violet chuckled in return.
. . .
The tower was a mask of stillness save for the waves crashing against the tower base below. Up in a small corner, tucked in by both Lena and Gosalyn, were the daring ducks of mystery sleeping peacefully in each other's arms. It helped them forget the days events, and all their worries in general.
And each hoped in their subconscious that the moment would never end.

Darkwing Duck spoilers here(Prt 1 IDK I might talk about it more later)
just a weird mess of my initial thoughts and feelings
.
.
.
(I would want to do one of those keep reading things but I’m on my phone so I don’t know how to do it)
FENTON MADE ALL OF DRAKES GADGETS
they are friends
and of course Drake doesn’t know Fenton is Gizmoduck skdbdjnxajsnsjjsnd ahhhhh this fucking episode
(“Darkwing this is Fenton I’ve been going over—“ “Yeah we’re kinda busy right now, can we call you back” “oh yeah sure Im flexible” Fenton, buddy stand your ground for me)
Also if Fenton made all of Drake’s stuff he also made an auto intelligence that is sassy, british, and Gandra sounding. wtf. this episode has me fucking ascending. I wanna draw these two now
Gos and Drake Yessss
they are partners now and it’s no adoption but we’re getting there
LP and Drake not the biggest shiper for them but they had really cute moments
Gos and Dewey banter. I loved it. Gos trying to understand Dewey’s catchphrases was pretty funny
Huey’s antics with trying to figure out Bulba and Bradford was awesome to watch. I can’t help it if I just love Huey in general
Dewey and LP is always great especially in the beginning when they’re trying to be all mysterious about what they were doing. also I love just how much Dewey knows about Darkwing duck now because of how much Launchpad makes him watch the show
(“Nice save” “We’re so good at keeping secrets”)
can I say again FENTON AND DRAKE. ahem sorry but I really adored their quick conversation about the ram rod. Drake was so willing to get Gos’ grandpa back I just ahhhhhhhhh
they talk on the phone because their friends, “between you me and the motorcycle, Fenton can’t stand him”(him being Gizmoduck.... of course)
also I spotted a bonkers(It was that weird police cat thing I didn’t watch the show but it’s from a 90s cartoon)
(this guy)
The DT 87 gag had me reeling
Bradfords reveal being a part of foul has me hyped. also it looks like we got into Bradford’s motivations a little bit
(“oh I suppose you want to fly around in an umarked helicopter” “YES”)
edit* also this gem
(“why have dreams if they alter into nightmares!”)
I was afraid this episode was going to be a little bloated with how much they were trying to put into this hour but, everything seem to work out pretty great. Maybe all of the fearsome 4 was a tad bit too much but otherwise a wonderful episode. The only other thing slightly disappointing is that there’s no theme song, not even in the end credits. but still awesome episode
i’ll probably have more thoughts on a second viewing but for an initial watch it was one of the best episodes so far. because of course it would be (also I wanted to have more screenshots but I was watching this first viewing on Hulu and for some reason it won’t let me take screenshots) you have no idea how much more I’ve tried to say about this ep but I forgot some of it because Tumblr doesn’t want to save my drafts soo FUCK YOu TuMbLr

what's your opinion on negaduck's character as a whole? like what drastic changes there were to him between the OG show and in the comics? like how he has more psychotic and blood-thirsty in the comics? (is what I'm assuming)
I've answered a similar question before about my opinions of the character, with it being mostly pertaining to me having liked the original and liking the direction we're going with Jim Starling 😗
Mostly, the main issue I have with the comic portrayal is that he shreds Mr. Banana Brain completely unprompted, aside from QuackerJack asking him to spill the beans about Darkwing Duck's secret identity (that itself is also a little forced, because at no real point in the cartoon has QuackerJack really expressed interest in finding out Darkwing's double life there, and has had plenty of opportunity before to take Darkwing's mask off himself. Heck, he could have gone down to the Tea and Doilies Society in "Days of Blunder" and just seen Darkwing unmasked there, he knew that Darkwing was working there temporarily, so he had plenty of chances if he really wanted to)
Sure, Negaduck is definitely a bully, but he usually has to be provoked into harrasing his underlings otherwise he'll just dip out and leave once the caper is done, like he tried to in "Life, the Negaverse and Everything" before Megavolt, QuackerJack, Liquidator and Bushroot decided to follow after him. He's go no problem with intimidating them and making them scared, but I should probably note that he was at least generous enough to equally divide up control of the city to them in "Just Us Justice Ducks" in exchange for keeping all the loot they had pilfered (an action the Fearsome was not going to agree with without a fight, but still, it was certainly an interesting thing for him to willingly offer them the city in exchange for the cash)
So it's very strange that QuackerJack was the only one to follow after him to ask questions about why Negaduck had taken an uncharacteristic amount of his take when we've seen him at least be willing to pay them fairly in the past.
Absolutely no reason for QuackerJack to be the only one to tag along, when the group works together as one unit. Absolutely no reason for Negaduck to have grabbed Mr. Banana Brain to tear apart and throw back in QuackerJack's face
Except for
Because the plot of the comics doesn't set off unless this event has occurred.
QuackerJack would not have kidnapped his friends after they had to split ways after he basically broke after Mr. Banana Brain was destroyed, and after Negaduck directly attacks Darkwing's home, prompting Darkwing to go off the grid to hide his family from danger, leaving crime to run amuck on St. Canard, prompting the Crimebots to be deployed by Taurus Bulba to wipe out any manner of crime (including something as simple as music piracy), and gather up everyone to work at QuackWerks and ONLY QuackWerks, creating a "Villian Rehabilitation Program" in the process that completely fails to work for QuackerJack because it wasn't really there to help reintegrate the villains back into society as fruitful citizens, but to just keep them so beat down and exhausted from overworking at the company that they had no energy to do anything at all... which is why QuackerJack snapped again and went on that rampage.
All of this, ALL of this hinges on Negaduck destroying Mr. Banana Brain. None of the main plot of the comics could have probably happened like it did if there hadn't been some fail safe put in place that would have prevented QuackerJack from even agreeing to work at a desk job.
They had to break the characters to make this major event possible.
I don't even think Negaduck even knows what Mr. Banana Brain is for and why that's important to QuackerJack, he's probably seen the doll at least twice.
They made Negaduck be a monster just for the sake of being cruel for no reason. Considering that Mr. Banana Brain has been described before as a "sawdust filled doll" (although the comics show him with fiberfil), which is a particular retro style, one can assume there's a very kind of fabric texture as well, that means a lot of effort goes into shredding that by hand, right in QuackerJack's face, while subsequently yelling at QuackerJack about how he's not important enough to know who Darkwing is.
It's mean-spirited, and out of character for Negaduck's style of tormenting and bullying.
He's way more direct in telling them how much he thinks they're idiots, and doesn't necessarily paint himself as a paragon of nastiness, just that he's thinks they're a bunch of losers and has better things to do than waste his time with them. He doesn't really explain why he thinks he's better than them.
Heck, Negaduck is virtually the same as Darkwing in terms of ego and "Time and Punishment" shows that if Darkwing didn't have any inhibitions and morals, he'd be just as capable of taking control of St. Canard in a manner similar to how Negaduck controls Nega-St. Canard.
That said, I especially want to note how in the past, QuackerJack has specifically tried hard to get on Negaduck's good side as both a good little lackey, and even attempting to form some kind of friendship (such as loudly expressing disappointment when Negaduck doesn't show interest in "wanting to hang out after a caper")
QuackerJack has consistently tried to be social with Negaduck, despite the fact that this is usually met with threats and at one point, Negaduck just knocks him to the ground and steps on him like a doormat while trying to get out of his line of sight.
Neither of these guys are "UwU Harmless Widdle Babies", but I really doubt that QuackerJack would have been disarmed enough to let Mr. Banana Brain be yanked out of his hands, and I doubt that Negaduck will would have straight up shredded the doll when it was probably more in character for him to just use MBB as leverage to keep QuackerJack's attention while verbally tearing him down, then perhaps chuck the doll back at him or just off the beaten path to have QuackerJack scrambling over the doll while he makes a getaway with the loot.
Heck, I would have even accepted the scenario of throwing Mr. Banana Brain towards the streets as a diversion to leave, only for there to have been like a street sweeper or something to have accidentally ran over the doll and chewed MBB up good, or a dog mistakes it for a chew toy or MBB lands in the bay and gets swallowed by a shark (and sometime later spat back up), effectively causing QuackerJack to be traumatized and THEN we have the comic plot, that would have been more in line with established canon and style.
I'm going to keep going on and on until the end of time about what happened to Mr. Banana Brain because Mr. Banana Brain is treated as his own entity separate from QuackerJack, and we're going to have to acknowledge his emotional importance to QuackerJack, and Mr. Banana Brain is what my family would call a "Woobie", which is a term we collectively use to describe a security item, usually a blanket but for someone like me, it refers to a well worn and well loved plush toy. A more popular term would be "Comfort Item".
You don't mess with someone's woobie just to be a jerk, no matter who's writing you in a comics. That's just as bad as taking candy from a baby. 👀
... Gosh, I think the sun's coming up, I should think about going to sleep now. 😅

So would you say Dewey and Louie were the most consistently well written characters on Ducktales from start to finish with his arc overall? Considering how others either were not focused enough (Huey, Donald, Della, and LP), had not so good writing in the finale (Scrooge/Webby), and a bit of both (Beakley), those two seems to be the consistent ones.
Anon, honestly, I would love to agree with you about both Dewey and Louie in this regard, unfortunately, there’s a slight issue.
Louie’s character in the sense of his arc was handled very well throughout seasons 1 and 2, and throughout the majority of season 3. However, there are two episodes where Louie’s writing hits a bump in season 3, those two episodes being The Trickening and Fight For Castle McDuck.
Ironically, the two episodes from this season (outside of the finale) that caused the most discussion and uproar in the fandom.
While Trickening doesn’t mishandle Louie’s character as poorly as Fight for Castle McDuck did, it doesn’t change the fact this episode is the source of this writing issue involving Louie’s character, at least where his treatment of Huey is concerned.
Now in these two episodes we see Louie having issue w/ Huey’s planning/schedule tendencies, something Louie is very well aware that his brother does and that it’s a source of comfort for Huey, so it’s a little odd seeing Louie have this sort of animosity towards this rather normal behavior Huey displays.
In Trickening, Louie’s seen mocking Huey’s attachment to the JWG (again something that is a comfort for Huey, and Louie KNOWS that) and then getting extremely upset at Huey for lying about his awareness of the existence of the haunted house and immediately jumping down Huey’s throat about being selfish and for lying (the former is false and absolutely the last thing Huey is, and the latter, while true, Huey had his reasons for why he lied) and while an upset response to Huey lying is a normal reaction, it coming from Louie is a bit odd.
Louie’s anger towards Huey is over a minor harmless lie and could’ve just been solved with a simple “Huey, why did you lie?” and insert Huey’s explanation, but we have an episode length to fill so we gotta have some tension through a misunderstanding and then at the end we can have people finally communicate. As much as I’m being sarcastic, I do really like that scene of Huey and Louie talking and apologizing for their respective actions, and both coming together over their love for each other and for Halloween, the biggest holiday they had together w/ Dewey before going to the mansion, but it is slightly frustrating watching this inorganic Louie vs Huey conflict that is actually handled better in another episode, I’ll get to that later though.
Let’s talk Fight for Castle McDuck, holy crud is this episode a mess. Not even just with Huey and Louie’s plot, but Dewey and Webby’s as well as Scrooge and Matilda’s plots are so unbearable to watch. I rewatched this episode recently and I cannot tell you guys the amount of times I wanted to break my television over practically every single characters behavior in this episode, save for Dewey and Huey who were completely fine in the episode, but everyone else? OH. MY. GOD.
Critiquing the problems on this episode can be a whole discussion in itself, and I might do that, but right now, let’s focus on Louie in this episode.
Louie has the same issue with Huey that he had in Trickening, so essentially it’s a “we’ve done this plot before but let’s do it again except slightly differently” type of plot, nothing wrong with those, except Louie is uncharacteristically mean to Huey throughout the episode, like, borderline how Huey and Dewey treated him in Other Bin mean, and we all know how I feel about Other Bin.
Just at the start of the episode Louie yells at Huey by saying, “No! BAD NERD.” And that’s just a line that doesn’t sit well with me, like Louie, Huey isn’t a dog, there was no need for such a line. And then later when Huey is explaining his plan to find the bagpipes, Louie is dozing off and explains how he’s taking a Huooze, something he does when Huey explains nerd stuff, except Louie’s never done that before or after this episode so that’s always fun. Louie is just not giving off good vibes the entire episode, and I understand the lesson Louie was meant to have is sometimes doing things the easy way isn’t always the best way, and that lesson is fine, but they didn’t need to execute it the way that they did.
Not to mention how this plot, which is completely disconnected to Dewey and Webby’s & Scrooge and Matilda’s plots, suddenly gets dragged into those two plots because this is season 3 where comedy is our passion so let’s have every single character be overly dramatic and insult everyone around them despite us being family and then after everyone’s been absolutely awful to each other, let’s not apologize no, let’s just act like this was a normal lesson in family’s fight but we can work through it and be stronger because of it! AND OH MY GOD NO NONE OF WHAT HAPPENED IN THIS EPISODE WAS A NORMAL FAMILY FIGHT. PLEASE DONT TELL YOUR AUDIENCE OF CHILDREN THIS IS NORMAL.
AND THIS ISNT EVEN SCRATCHING THE SURFACE OF HOW AWFUL WEBBY’S BEHAVIOR IN THE EPISODE WAS AND-
Okay okay, rant for another time, back to Louie.
I bring up Trickening and Fight for Castle McDuck as examples as bumps in Louie’s writing because outside of these episodes, Louie is written rather well and very supportive of both Huey and Dewey’s comfort tendencies, Huey w/ his JWG and Dewey w/ his thirst for attention/validation.
Focusing on season 3 episodes specifically, in Challenge of the Senior-Junior Woodchucks Louie is the only one who actually helps Huey feel better about not having the guidebook with him, he even calls Huey “king-nerd” in a very kind way, then in Lost Harp of Mervana Louie learns from Webby’s optimism that sometimes looking for the best in people isn’t so bad just as Webby learns that sometimes people don’t always have your best interest from Louie, that’s a balance in their dynamic and is done very well, and finally in Rumble for Ragnorak Louie’s behavior is reliant solely on knowing Dewey his whole life and exactly how his brother is going to react when being put in front of a crowd, and because of how well Louie knows Dewey, when his older brother is doubting himself, Louie has learned the best way to get Dewey back to himself by telling him “Let’s Dewey it.”
Louie’s grown a lot and he understands his family incredibly well, so seeing that aspect of him disappear in two episodes, while minor, still sucks in the sense of character consistency.
There is an episode from season 3 that does this conflict between Huey and Louie really well and it’s Let’s Get Dangerous, the reason being: Louie doesn’t mock Huey in this episode for his JW tendencies or questions, instead, Louie just straight up tells Huey that not everything has be a problem or a mystery, which ironically leads to Huey discovering the problem with Bulba’s machine and that it was part of a lost mystery that Finch was searching for. That’s exactly how Louie should react when he feels Huey’s want for answers can get in the way of him getting a quick fortune. Not mocking his brother for comfort tendencies he is well aware his brother has.
Overall, Louie has been well written throughout the series but we can’t ignore how the writing for him in both Trickening and Fight for Castle McDuck mess up his rather solid consistency.
Now Dewey’s character arc and development can also be an entire post like this as well as I genuinely feel, favorite character bias aside, Dewey is the best written character in the entire series, and I mean that from a writers and critic’s perspective.
But like I said, that can be a whole other discussion.

I have no idea if I don’t read DT17 Darkwing Duck properly or not but,,,,, he doesn’t seem as egotistical as 1991 DWD.
Like,,, Drake basically follows the old TV show he loved so much and put an emphasis upon the fact that “Darkwing always stand back up”. He want to inspire kids, to protect a city and be a hero, but he doesn’t have this (ok I have to say that after a moment it’s kinda annoying) big ego and he doesn’t do it for himself (at least not entirely). He knows he’s new at it, that people (like Gizmoduck) might even be better at it and when Gos asked him to go after Bulba he didn’t wanted to lose his very small reputation. But not because he likes when people talk about him, because if he wants to inspire kids and else, he needs a reputation (he was in the movie industry, he knows).
Same with his “hate” of Gizmoduck (I don’t think he actually hates him, but that’s my pov).
Why is he pissy about Gizmoduck? Because the guy was here before him and therefore already has a reputation, because people knows about him, he’s in the news, he is a new figure that people like and DWD isn’t any of that. DWD came after, he’s new, no one knows about him except for maybe those who watched the old show as kids and on top of everything, people just think he’s a weird dude in a weird suit, and that hurt.
And Drake knows all that. That’s why when it turns out that there’s no crime in St Canard he’s kinda sad, that when he finally found one and it turns out it wasn’t one he’s just depressed and mostly, that’s why when the fearsome four arrive he freaks out. He not only wasn’t prepared for such a threat but he also only is a dude, in a suit (that he most likely made himself).
But at the end, he manages to defeat them (more or less ok) but it never seems (at least to me) that the first noticeable traits about him is his ego. The first I see about him is that he’s here to protect, he gets hit but always stand back up, he’s ready to lose his really thin reputation and maybe even his life in order to help a random kid to find her grandpa in an alternate dimension.
The Ducktales version of Darkwing Duck isn’t like the original version. This is the version of someone who watched the show and was inspired by it. This hero is what a kid saw in the original, the potential of said hero and its transcription in the real world. It’s basically looking at a new generation of kid and trying to inspire them, and it won’t inspire them in the same way because time changes.
And I think it’s beautiful and really interesting. Also it allows Drake to show the entirety of his dramatics.
#Ducktales#Darkwing Duck#Drake Mallard#That was big and I have no idea if it makes sense and I'm bad at analysing stuff but here you go#you have every rights to make a counter analysis of it if you don't see it in the same way. it's really interesting to see different pov
