For the past few-ish years, I've been doing an art challenge where I focus on posting pieces for designated dates. I had a lot of DuckTales-oriented ideas for this year and thought that shaving them down to four instead of my usual six, that I would have an easier time. Unfortunately...I didn't finish any of them for the days I had in mind; this is an edited post.

But I still completed them anyway! ✍🏾😤

For almost every June 20th slot, and a little before my challenge began, I've been drawing Delpad for my birthday and wanted to keep it going. Figuring out what to draw sent me back to a funny observation I had years ago that others had also come close to: I remember seeing a couple of similar conversations where Launchpad and Della were acknowledged as a reversal of Roger and Jessica Rabbit, where the male character is the one with the tall, exaggerated body type while the female character has a more standard one. x)

I did think about making a drawing about that closer to the time, but I immediately shot it down. 😆 I thought it would end up being too cursed...but when idea came back this year, I reconsidered. Maybe I actually could pull it off, lol. I think it turned out pretty well. 😊

Launchpad and Huey Similarities

“Wait, am I the Launchpad here?”

Similarly to another adult-triplet post I made, I often view LP as being most like Dewey…but there are moments where he can be compared to Huey in spite of the resistance in their relationship. Huey and Launchpad tend to clash during their interactions as Huey views himself as the competent one while constantly underestimating LP’s abilities.

It feels like the similarities between these characters are becoming more  apparent in Season 3. I was very surprised by how they were openly compared to in “The Rumble For Ragnorok!” and how Huey was told to embrace that comparison. While it’s been said that this was going to be Huey’s season, Launchpad is being highlighted quite a lot too. I mean, Bradford and Webby are also being highlighted but we have a much better idea for their cases than we do for Launchpad. I still find it…extremely odd that he was the one who was given insight to F.O.W.L.’s plot before the triplet in focus like we were expecting…🤔

I think the most notable similarity between Huey and Launchpad thus far, is how they continued their trend of matching each other’s outfits and movements in the opening scene of the Season 3 premiere. Because of their important roles in both the beginning and midpoint of the season, I can’t help but think that these two will also play a significant part in the finale. Perhaps it’ll involve another moment where they acknowledge what they have in common.

This is the first time I've ever drawn the Gizmo suit, so, it probably isn't entirely accurate. It was intimidating and difficult...the angle I needed him to be at, only increased this. 🙃 I kinda gave up a little along the way. 😅

I had to readjust Huey from how I originally drew him and refused to draw him over again to make him go in the same direction as LP. To make better sense of it, I decided to add a flying trail and implied a hard turn or twist that hasn't straightened out yet. There is supposed to be a sense of chaos in the flight since LP can't use suit very well. I guess any clunky-ness with his pose could be because of that. 😅

Yeah, I know, I colored LP's Quack Pack boots wrong. His pupils might also be too big too. Both sets of hands probably don't match up very well with the other...I tried. ┐⁠(⁠´⁠ー⁠｀⁠)⁠┌

But in spite of its flaws, I still really do like this! I could redo or fix these things if I ever decide to do fully digitally. Right now, I gotta keep moving. 🏃🏾‍♀️

I had been thinking about some Disney Afternoon promotional art where LP is preventing Louie from taking gold underneath Scrooge's hat. I found it really amusing and wanted to do something with that at some point.

I also thought about how Louie scammed LP out of the golden kopesh he was awarded in "Toth-Ra" and how he couldn't bear to part with it in "Shadow War". 😂 Della then later had one during a similar setting in "Quack Pack", attached to a staff...which... now suddenly reminds me of...a spear. 😐 🤔

Huh, anyways, I normally ink these art challenge drawings with brush marker, but I wanted to do something little different this time: I digitalized the lines, print them out to color traditionally, and placed the digital lines on top of that. And while I did mainly use colored pencils, I decided to make use of my gel pens too, since I never use them. 😅 That was another thing that didn't go as well as I planned...either they were never filled up properly at all, or they REALLY dried out. 😬 I could hardly get anything out of them for the kopesh blades! (+ LP's belt buckle) I had to extend that texture through the program I was using. 

I then later threw in some jewels, or beads rather, as an afterthought to help fill up space 'n' match with theme. :3 I think this one turned out ok, I just want all three of the pieces to be done already. 😂😩Hopefully I'll have the next piece up tomorrow...

Huh, well...this happened:

Disney Jr.'s Instagram account updated a previous Family Tree post from last year to add HDL's Father! 🤯

This the closest we have to Modern Disney acknowledging Della on Donald's birthday, and anything reboot related that (outwardly?) acknowledges Dad's existence. 

I highly doubt this means anything outside of the social media admin(s) just putting content together, but wow, that was unexpected...it's also funny, because I think having Donald and Daisy in a different style is something that a lot of people would have wanted to see an updated change to. 😂 I understand they did it to promote the Mickey preschool shows, but...it's still kinda jarring. 😬

More headcanon stuff in a similar style to my "How I Ship Delpad" post.

I hinted in the bonus comic for my "Together" piece, that for...some reason... Launchpad glows when he blushes. He's a little self-conscious about it; perhaps he's sensed that this isn't normal, or someone had previously reacted to it in a certain way, so, he usually tries to hide it or tries his best to prevent himself from blushing all together. x)

Hmm, I don't remember if I was actually expecting to see this in the show when I came up with the idea, but it IS kinda weird that we've never seen Launchpad blush before...especially in Season 3, where there's more of that going on than the other seasons. Makes me wanna think that this was going to be reserved for a special moment...🤔

Maybe it's nothing...but it's fun to wonder. :U

SpongeTales?!

I've noticed some similarities between SB characters and DT characters over time, and the more I thought about it, the more amusing things I found.

I thought my findings were post-worthy, so, considering character iterations inside and outside the reboot, here's what I realized. 

Let's start off with a really obvious one:

Scrooge = Mr. Krabs 

Their main colors are red, blue and black

They both grew up poor

They're both well-known businessmen who love money, and have enough to swim around in it

Both of them can be described as cheapskates

Both of them see their first dimes as very special items

Both of them are older men

They both speak with a European accent

They both have a fatherly element to their characters 

I think it's VERY likely that Scrooge served as the inspiration behind Mr. Krabs. He may even be an intended parody of him. 

Heh, when I read through Issue #16 of SpongeBob Comics, I thought the Krabs family member "Uncle Alan" was homage to Alan Young, the original DuckTales voice actor for Scrooge (I mean, it was all about finding a treasure), but it turns out that it was more than likely in refence to the adventurous character, "Allan Quatermain". It matches up with his full name "Alan Quaterkrab". Oh well, there's still a lot here.

The next comparison is pretty easy:

Donald = Squidward

They both have a constant struggle with bad luck

They are both known for being grumpy or short-tempered

They're both often made the voice of reason in their groups

They both have a desire to be cool and respected

They both have a gloating rival who is favored over them

They often getting roped into whatever the businessman is doing

They're both considered second in command

They're both often depicted with just a hat and shirt

This one might not be too obvious:

Launchpad = SpongeBob

Most would be very quick to compare him to Patrick, but I think he matches SpongeBob more.

They're both extremely loyal to their cheap bosses

They're both occasionally fired by their bosses only to be rehired later on

They both have issues with acquiring their license or learning to drive certain vehicles

They both tend to crash vehicles

They're both generally positive and child-like

They're often described by others as annoying and incompetent

They can also be described as dim-witted

They both regularly wear a tie, a belt and black footwear

They're both very in-tune with the water 

They both have a tremendous appreciation for pop-culture heroes

They also have been given the roles of heroes

Both of them have had their jobs threatened over being replaced with a robot

They both have been depicted with red hair (or would that be brown, in SpongeBob's case?...isn't red hair just a really intense light brown?)

This one was a direct reference to the other:

Mr. Krabs' Nephews = Huey, Dewey & Louie

They're both identical male triplets with a relation to a wealthy businessman

Both sets have similar voices with a particular way of speaking together

They both often solve mysteries

Here's another set that could also be compared to HDL, but fit a bit closer to another group:

Sandy's Nieces = April, May, & June

They're both female trios with identical sisters

We often see them in the care of the aunt

Both groups are color coded with a yellow member

I would also say they have a particular way of speaking, since they're meant to mirror HDL, but I actually don't know if AMJ do this. 😅

Breaking down this trio to focus on one:

Webby = Pearl

They're both adopted members of wealthy family

There is also a...daughter element to their characters

They both wear pink articles of clothing

Might even be safe to say both of their favorite color is pink

They both have an appreciation for plush toys

This one's a lil' tricky:

Gyro = Plankton?

They both scientific inventors who are very focused on their work

They both have a main robotic companion

Their inventions tend to do evil or antagonistic things

They've both assembled an usual army

They both have Southern heritage

What makes this one more uncertain is that Gyro is his affiliation. He doesn't intend to be evil at all. He's very much in favor of his boss and wouldn't try to harm him or the family on purpose.

Because of this, he could also be compared to Sandy, but I think another character matches her better.

They're both female characters who have a fraternal twin brother

They're both extreme thrill-seekers who are always up for a challenge

They both tend to be reckless and get carried away

They can both be described as stubborn

They both have piloted rocketships and have traveled to Space; specifically the Moon

They've both lived outside of their natural environment for many years

They've both traveled a long way from home and it's very likely that both of them had a good reason for it

They both have an interest in robotics

They both have a Scottish relative

They both have helped other characters with flying a plane

They both may have had an encounter with a portal to an alternate dimension

On to the next:

Mrs. Beakley = Mrs. Puff

They both have a mysterious element to their identities

They are both generally "no nonsense" characters

While they do tend to be on the more serious side, they do know how to relax and have fun

The "Mrs." in both of their names indicates or seems to imply that they've been married, but both of their husbands are missing

Now here's a more better fit for an earlier one:

Flintheart = Plankton

They're both rivals to a businessman they're trying to emulate

They both met their rivals when they were younger

They used to have a good or neutral affiliation, until their businessman rival did something to make them change

They're both full of evil schemes

They're both always outwitted by the rivalling business 

They're VERY determined to accomplish their goals

They occasionally team up with good guys 

They both once led a family effort to attack their rival

Green

This one also works pretty well too:

Magical = Plankton

They're both rivals to a businessman

They're both full of evil schemes

They're both always outwitted by the rivalling business 

They're VERY determined to accomplish their goals

They're both constantly after an important item that will make them powerful 

They both often deal with very dangerous elements

They both once led a group effort to attack their rival

Bonus Section!

Out of all of these, I think the strongest connection SB and DT have with each other is that both SpongeBob and Patrick's voice actors had characters in the second season of the show!

Yellow was always one of Fethry's colors but the fact that he appears with a sponge!! I love that. 😂💛

The Ghost of Christmas Past is even depicted as a pink character who wears green clothes!

And as I was typing this, I remembered that Clancy Brown played Frankenstein in "Trickening!" Ha!

There are probably even MORE connections and coincidences out there waiting to be found!

(I was going to just reblog this update from the original post, but I think worthy of having it's own.)

When I first noticed the piece of paper on the plane's dash, I thought it was a map. But now, I'm starting to wonder if all of the three items featured here, are meant to hint toward the Spear's blueprint and the family photo!

The triangular shape I originally saw as a patch of land, could definitely pass as a simplified rocket. I thought I saw gridlines too, but I went back to check this scene on a TV and didn't see any. I guess my brain tricked itself after deciding it was a map. 😅 Whatever this really is, I still personally believe that Della could have been wanting to go to some kinda island-like destination and that's where she secretly want to go when she proposed the idea of Space travel.

(I mean...in "Moonvasion", she did claim to be doing one thing, when she really had a whole 'nother plan in mind...and we've been given examples of both Scrooge and Donald misinterpreting her actions...she never explained why she took the Spear, just that she was sorry for taking it. We only have Scrooge's point of view, so, who's to say this isn't yet another case of him making assumptions? 🤷🏾‍♀️)

Heh, something else I thought months after making my original post, is that this supposed map was of Ithaquack, before the episode aired. I had more recently compared it with other mysterious places (elsewhere) and wondered of a possible connection between them:

It was fabled like Hazel House and sorta like The Ramrod, with its entries to fantasy dimensions

It's uncharted like Falcon Island was pulled from maps

And all of these places had an element of avoidance when it came to visiting them

The paper on the dashboard is really difficult to make out in full...it looks like it's a ripped piece of something bigger, but I dunno, it could just be a little rolled up at the corners. This reminds me of the missing photo piece that Dewey was after in "Last Crash", which I think, was highly reflective of a potential desire Della had to find HDL's Father.

As for the family photo having a chance of being hinted at, there was a Polaroid version of it on Della's desk as she's drawing the Spear in Scrooge's flashback. The "Lost Crown" riddle from "Secret(s)" is there too, underneath the blueprint and could also be hinting towards Della's possible search.

A different copy of it is taped to the right side of the Spear's dash, much like the placement of the unknown photos in the plane.

If a couple of these items are meant to be literal earlier versions of the blueprints and the family photo, what could the second photo be? Because of my speculations, I think it's more than likely to be another family-related one...I thought that maybe it could be a copy of the birthday picture with Donald from "Dime Chase".

...But what if it's one of HDL's Dad? The show ended on a Plan B involving a father reveal and three kids. If we were ever meant to get HDL's Dad in Plan A, I think it's very likely that a photo of him would have been shown at some point.

If the dashboard items are a bit more figurative, could the two photos be meant to represent a parallel between what drove her to Space and what drove her back home?

If Della's goal in Space was to get Dad "in the picture", he would have been placed on the right side of it, next to her...

Since I'm talking about Della's portrait:

In the earliest installment of my "Association" essay, a Google search helped me realize similarities between Della's portrait and LP's "Family is the greatest adventure" scene in "Woo-oo!".

Pilots with planes, a sunset sky, a lot of shared colors...the hula girl bobble figure on the dash just like the items in question; it's even placed on the same side! Its design has changed multiple times and one of those, include wearing teal and green like both of the pilots.

Because of this, and her hair-length, I previously considered the possibility of the figure representing Della. The longer hair feels a little reminiscent of what Della looked like on the Moon, and the shorter hair reminds me of how she cut it when she came back home. The hula girl could have been earlier expressions of these concepts before they were finalized.

What's also worth noting is that this figure was featured during moments like Dewey's chase in "Last Crash" and the arguing that occurred after the flashback. It was on LP's half, where he kept cutting into all the blame being placed on Scrooge. This combined with the plane tipping forward, could indicate that Della's disappearance had much more to do with Dad than Scrooge building the rocket for her.

And the shot of the hula girl as the plane falls from the peak, could definitely represent how Della fell to the Moon after the lightning strike.

Something that could draw an even stronger connection between the pilots through this figure, is that it's more than likely to be Launchpad's. He already owns a DW one for the limo.

It's not too hard to believe he'd have another one for the type of vehicle he prefers to be in.

And while this probably doesn't mean much, Issue #3 of the IDW DuckTales comics, seemed to suggest that the hula girl may not have been there prior to him taking over as Scrooge's pilot.

But, yeah! Della's Dedication Room is full of hints towards her disappearance, so...the dashboard items in her portrait could very well be part of that.

Sometime after making my Houseboat Hug piece, I thought of possibly making a Della equivalent for Mother's Day at some point to match up with it. 

I had the original pencil drawings saved in a file, ready for the right time, and decided to come back to it five years later. (oh my gosh 😳) Ha...I was NOT loving the finalization process. 🫠 I started to regret the poses...they seemed a little too complicated together. And I couldn't figure out the best placement for Della's hands. It didn't feel like the proportions were correct...and worst of all, the composition was feeling really bland to me. 😕 I wondered if it was the way I did the wall photos that was creating this sentiment, but I didn't want to spend time doing more accurate recreations; not at the moment, I was running out of time to complete the piece for the day of...(Spoilers: I did not. x_x )

Despite how I was feeling about it, I told myself to work on making it more appealing anyway. I'm glad I didn't give up! I think it looks much better now. 😊

For years, I had been wanting to create an easier way to share my most recent basis for this couple. And since the Speculation Timeline I wanted to put together isn't going to be completed anywhere near now (and since I'm being indecisive about whether I'd want to post it on here), I thought putting several images together was a good option.

I've had a general idea of what people think about my artwork, and the ship itself, for a long time and I'm sure a lot of those sentiments haven't changed. The other major reason as to why I made this post, is because I wanted to show people that I'm not oblivious to how Launchpad and Della were portrayed in canon. That I'm not picking two random characters to ship out of boredom. I put a lot of thought into how their dynamic could be and why we ended up with what we got. I was hoping to see a build up to something more meaningful. And now that I've been made aware of the show not getting to follow its initial plan, I'm trying to figure out what that was going to be, while also putting my own spin on it.

Ok, so, more on the basis details:

Dunno if I made it clear enough, but just in case I confused anyone, this is meant to be set within the same timeline as the show. It just goes a little farther than where the show left off. When I was restructuring my ideas, I was going to make an alternative timeline where Season 3 would be closer to what Plan A could have been. (I wanted to see a season revision so bad, but I knew it would never actually happen. 😭) As time went on, I considered what show would be like if it was able to pick up after the finale and I think I might like this case a little more, due to it being the most believable scenario.

I undoubtedly believe that Della was supposed to have a turnaround with Launchpad and that "Trickening" was a strong indication of that. She doesn't know what LP is truly capable of because she's never around when he's at his best. And this feels very intentional because it's one of the biggest things that prevented their relationship from getting the development it needed. Keeping them stuck in this stage prevents anything...significant from happening. 

There's not much of a reason for them to be kept here if there's nothing to hide...they're capable of getting along and Della's assumption about Scrooge hiring Launchpad, would have easily been settled if the characters were given a chance to talk it out. 

In order for them to progress, Launchpad needs to do something amazing to catch her attention. I haven't come up with a solid answer to this in my personal timeline yet; it'll probably have something to do with saving Dewey, Della or both. But can you imagine what her reaction to Suavepad would have been like?! Or talking to Gosalyn about what it means to be a hero? The way she looked at Kit when he was cloud kicking could have definitely been giving us a good idea.

While not openly expressed in canon, perhaps another reason why Della is irritated with Launchpad is because there are things about him that remind her of HDL's Dad. Or maybe a bit more generally, how much she hates failure; I've been theorizing that Della had secret intentions of saving him when she headed into the cosmic storm. If this is true, she believes that she failed to save him. She could still be mourning that loss, so, if she began to have any feelings for Launchpad, there's bound to be a lot of resistance.

In the alternate timeline, I was going to have him completely stuck in friend mode and not notice anything until Della finally got more comfortable about her feelings. But I think having them both silently struggling to conceal their feelings, is a lot more interesting. 😂

I always thought it was strange that he was never written to show a prior interest in her...or even prior knowledge about her at all. In earlier essays, I noted how odd it was for Launchpad to know who Scrooge was without knowing about The Duck Twins. They were only out of action for ten years. Launchpad was alive before this happened and being that close to someone as popular as Scrooge...he would have seen them from time to time. 

I've also noted how LP was connected to Della from the first time we met him. His conversation about the snowstorm on the Drake Barrier Reef and the Atlantic trip as a whole, reflected the Spear incident. The way he was talking to Scrooge, sounded a lot like he wanted to encourage him to come out of retirement so he could be his pilot. That would mean that he did know something about Scrooge being an adventurer. So, how would he know about that without the Donald and Della portion?? It's the most recent part! He would have grown up with this! Either there's something up with him, or this is one serious plothole...

When Dewey and Webby started their investigation on Della, they never considered prying information from him...and after Scrooge shared his perspective on the Spear incident, Launchpad didn't have anything to say about Della's decision...(I'd expect someone who's supposedly a latchkey kid, to be...a little vocal about child abandonment...) and while his name carried over from original show, it's still very related to rockets. Why wouldn't the showrunners want to incorporate that into something bigger when the show has such a heavy space theme?! All this stuff feels a little too conveniently ignored...🤨

Speaking of the original, LP's family is full of pilots! If the reboot was going to borrow more from LP's history, that's yet ANOTHER way he should know who she is!! If one of your fellow aviators were related to the richest duck in the world, and they're travelling all over the place with him, surely their name and exploits would be brought up multiple times...Heh, if Della appeared in the original, I think it's safe to say he would immediately have a noticeable crush on her. 😂 The reboot hinted that Launchpad's romantic side is just about as active as it was in DT87, but it's a lot more private in comparison. It's really odd to have him dating around without extending any of that to Della...maybe there was something more subtle in "Coot" where he wanted to impress her...but c'mon, that's a fishy thing to do.

Anyway, I got the impression that LP found out about something having to do with Dad when the Timephoon sent him to the future. A lot of people took his delayed reaction to Louie's remark as taking too long to realize he was talking about Della. But I think it was because he wasn't initially thinking of her. The remark was said as if Louie's actions were hereditary. If not Della, then who else could Louie have "gotten" the idea of taking off with a powerful machine? 

Della's recording in "GlomTales!", warned Louie that he needed to stop his plans and schemes if he wants to be a part of the family. Dad doesn't seem to be part of the family. Could he be missing due to a plan or a scheme in relation to the Spear and the cosmic storm? In "Coot", the characters discussed how something valuable was being sought after on the non-McDuck side of the family and how everyone related to the family were frauds and cheats. If Louie was after valuables in his situation, and his situation was compared to Della's, then couldn't Dad fall under both of these categories?  

When thinking of what Launchpad could have seen during the end of the world, I amused myself with the thought of seeing them kiss, but it doesn't make sense for him to crush on someone else after that. If it was anything romantic, it would have to be a lot more subdued.  (I still do believe they were supposed to share a kiss in the original finale plans...)

When it comes to pairing the pilots, shippers tend to be met with comments about Launchpad being too young. This is largely because of some statements from one of the showrunners and how they were perceived.

When I had asked the showrunner on his blog about whether Launchpad was around the same age as Donald, the answer confirmed this, and that it may have been agreed amongst the writers that Donald was little older; thus making Della the same.

In the following year, someone else asked for exact ages on Drake and Launchpad and were told that both were in their late 20's to early 30's. It was also mentioned that the twins were in their mid 30's for comparison. 

A month later, there was a question that mentioned the twins being a few years older than LP and Drake with no additional correction from the showrunner.

Later in that year, another fan asked for Donald and Della's ages and were given the answer "36".

The year after that, someone asked for the age difference between the twins and Launchpad. They were told "About seven years, I think.". 🤨 

This was a really strange thing to say after the information I was given, but once I thought more about it, I realized that this was pretty much just another way to reiterate the late 20's to early 30's range that was said before. It does...not sound like Launchpad's age is set in stone. And even though we got a precise number for the twins, it may not have been chosen with sincerity. The same showrunner had said in another age-related answer regarding the kids, that he didn't want to give them canon ages, only age ranges. This might also extend to the other characters in the series. Maybe any number in the mid-30's could be correct for Della's age and 36 was chosen at random for that question...

Similarly, some fans are proclaiming that Launchpad was officially confirmed as 31 because of a "Duckburg Life" podcast episode. But this takes place during an earlier time in the show, that wouldn't be his current age. (I remember hearing things that implied the first season, while others say it takes place in the earlier half of the second. I don't feel like checking right now, lol) How do we know the writer for this ep also wasn't just picking any number within LP's age range? Because it isn't part of the main show, this audio series is either semi-canon or not canon at all. And it wasn't helmed by the regular showrunners, so, we can't take the events and mentions too seriously without their confirmation.

Whatever the matter is behind the confusion and hesitancy surrounding their ages, a three-year age gap between the pilots could still work with how I want to see them. Just because Launchpad could be several years younger than Della, doesn't automatically mean that his is. He could be a lot closer.

That window of possibility could have easily been shut. And what helps to keep it open, is that there are multiple characters who have been placed in...highly unusual situations, that affected the way they age. Dating a mermaid, all the way out in Mid-Atlantic Ridge somewhere, sounds pretty unusual...who's to say it's impossible for him to be part of this trend in some way?

I've been theorizing that he has amnesia. Maybe that caused him to get his age wrong. We've already seen him time travel, and timeless dimensions exist in the show. What if one of his adventures lead him to a place where the passage of time works differently? We've been given at least three examples of characters being frozen. What about that?

I would have loved to see a natural progression for Delpad in the show, but now that it's over, I don't have the patience to completely follow this timeline in chronological order. I'm mostly just going to elaborate on whatever points I feel like and work on organizing them later. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (🎶 can we skip to the good part 🎶 lol)

A one-off character from Issue 18 of the IDW DT comics who definitely  couldn't have been a hint-giving stand-in for another character who has shared traits with her! 😊 And it's not like you should totally read that story and others from the series to see if there are any interesting parallels to a ssignificant event or certain story beats that match up the show! 😁

Here's what I was...hoping to have finished in time for Valentine's Day Weekend.

I've been thinking of drawing LP and Della falling from the sky together, like the show posters, or "Last Adventure", and thought it would make for a good Valentine card design. 😊

The more I've been think about how we got the Plan B ending for the series, the more I wonder what Plan A would have been like…and I personally can't help but wonder if we were supposed to see something like that…🤔 🤷🏾‍♀️

I was thinking about the eclipses in the season finales and thought it was...really strange that S3 didn't have one. 🤔 That finale took place in a very sunny environment and a sun was even placed on the floor of The Lost Library.

Both Sun and Moon are needed to make an eclipse and there seemed to be an interesting uptick in moon imagery throughout that season too; in spite of things like The Spear of Selene, the invasion and Penny's homesickness being settled. Whenever the Moon is in focus, or just Space in general, we're more likely to think of how closely Della is associated with these things. Both of the eclipses we saw in the show had something important to do with her: The first one preceded the discovery of her still being alive and the second one happened when she reunited with her brother.

Considering the reflective nature of the show, it would make a lot of sense for her to be involved, in some kind of way, if a third eclipse were to have happened. Could the other instances have been hinting towards the third one being a loose combination of the two? And if it involves another character, who could represent the Sun well enough to match up with Della's Moon connection? 😏

So, yeah, I wanted to draw something that resembled my thoughts on what could have been. I mainly drew inspiration from DT version of "The Kiss" painting Gladstone had in "Lamp".

I pretty much intended to recreate that but had trouble with the posing. 😓 I was also inspired by "Neverrest" and a couple of lyrics from "Ragnarok"s hero song. ✨

I had said that I wanted to add more effects to my work, and this piece certainly delivers that! I was gonna try a lens flare out too, but I was getting tired of working on this piece. 😂 The process for this one and the last one were dragging out too much... x_x

Heh, as I was putting this description together, I realized that my last post from last year had a sunset and my new post for the new year is a sunrise...I love that it. xD

Well, uh...time to work on next month's pieces. 🚶🏾‍♀️
