i just had a great(?) idea.

See how from volume 3 onwards the sparklecare artstyle doesnt have diversity anymore.? (vol 3 is almost exclusively done by kc according to the credits at the bottom of each page, and in vol 4 all the clowns have her exact artstyle) well. i thought about that and came to a conclusion;

why dont the fandom all redraw V3-V4 pages. dozens, hundreds of people. with all kinds of styles, and skill level. teaming up, redrawing each 1-5pages. then slowly redrawing the whole thing with our own hands, our own artstyles. We'd post our new, diverse-artstyle sparklecare with all pages in order on a blog or smth.

seeing the credits at the bottom of the vol2 pages was my favorite thing ever, after a while i even would start to recognize each team member's artstyle, and i found it very charming how each individual style conveyed different emotions throughout each character yet still fit'd the main style of the comic and they all went very well together. as much as i like the current artstyle of the comic (controversial opinion, i know.) it OBJECTIVELY is way less "alive" feeling and expressive than vol 1 or 2's for exemple, and the lack of diversity that seems to be allowed within the zcp doesnt help. if all of us, as many as we are, created and directed a massive re-draw collab of sparklecare hospital, we could have this alive sparklecare that we deserve once again.

I made this illustration a couple summers ago for a velvet goldmine zine that unfortunately didn't end up panning out, and have... kind of been sitting on it forever despite still being really proud of it. I put SO much detail into this thing, I made up the curt wild poster based on a real film still, and the other two posters are based on real posters for lindsay kemp's pantomime of jean genet's Our Lady of the Flowers and a midnight screening of jack smith's film Flaming Creatures respectively (seasoned VG fans will get all the references in each of those). One of my personal favourite little details is the pattern on billy's pants - they were my attempt of adapting the pattern on ola salo's pants in this magazine photoshoot.

The religion section of my bookshelf has been growing more quickly as of late (something about the spring and autumn always gets me, I don't quite know why), and I am growing so tired of the incredible condescension toward anyone who leaves the faith community of their upbringing or heritage, either to join another tradition or to seek a secular life.

Most often, the 'failure' (and it's always framed as a failure) seems to be pinned on the individual as a sort of shallowness -- that they don't adequately understand their own tradition and if they'd delved deeper into such-and-such or so-and-so, they would have inevitably found renewed interest and commitment, or that they're too enmeshed in their day-to-day life and comforts to accept the inconveniences, discomforts, etc. that arise from maintaining a practice and/or holding the mental and spiritual space their tradition requires, or that they're merely giving into social pressure. In other cases, the authors gesture toward institutional failures -- inadequate outreach and programming (particularly for young adults or families without children), lack of support for struggling members, refusal to change with the times and address the anxieties and joys of their members, etc.

Certainly, both of these things can be true, and I don't mean to say that they aren't, but I wish the authors of the books I've been reading would leave some space for the simple fact that different things work for different people. If, after serious consideration of their own innermost desires and their relationship to their faith and associated community, someone finds themselves seeking a better fit for their values, sense of community, or other priorities, that seems like something that should be congratulated. Maybe they'll find that what they wanted was there all along and reaffirm their commitment to their tradition, maybe they'll find something else fits them, maybe they'll find that they need to step outside of faith communities to meet a certain need, in whatever degree each of these might entail -- regardless, good on them for being willing to explore themselves and the richness of the world around them!

Inevitably, questions of faith, belonging, and seeking are complicated and bring up a lot of difficult feelings and history, especially in marginalized or persecuted communities who've had to fight to maintain their faith and traditions, but that means you need a complicated and compassionate answer to them, stemming from a place that seeks to understand the range of individuals' experiences and desires rather than to immediately condemn them. No one tradition is going to work for everyone, and in any tradition, there's beauty and love to be found and nurtured.

First meeting of Ek-ko and J.nx after he realizes she's on Si/co's side now

One in my post-s2 default au verse where aside from letting Vi know, J/nx also seeks out Ekko to let him know she's alive even though she's leaving

time skip where Jinx has had time away to just be but ends up hearing something is going down in in her hometown that concerns her enough to come back to figure out what's up and ends up reuniting with anyone from there (what the reason for her return can be decided through plotting)

Any sort of si/co and j/nx interaction between s1act1 and s1act2 just because I'd like to explore that dynamic

AU where she does take up the responsibility of being a leader for those that look up to her after the events b/c she feels a pull towards in part due to si/co but also in part to the fact that she's starting to equate her losses to pi/tover too

In between s1act1 and s2act2 where J/nx manages to run to Vik whilst working on something during one of the time he heads back to the undercity if only so that they can talk gadgets

Honestly, would also love the chance for them to meet after Vik had to disassemble her bomb

Just any unlikely meetings amongst characters she wouldn't normally see would be interesting as well---
