would you ever be open to selling any of your older unused sonas? apologies if this is a rude question!
not a rude question!
i have definitely thought about it a lot, i'm just unsure how to go about doing it.
a lot of them are very, very much still me or majorly parts of me, so i'd wanted some light changes to be made to the design / names / ect, but i don't have the time to go back and do that myself. i'm also unsure what to charge for them.
if anyone has interest in an old 'sona i haven't used in like a year+, they're open to private offers! i'd just like to discuss aforementioned changes before selling

Bronze plaque of Mithras slaying the bull. Roman mid-2nd–early 3rd century CE. x
The cult of Mithras was very popular throughout the Roman Empire and was followed especially by soldiers. It was one of several eastern cults that spread rapidly as a result of the pax Romana (Roman peace); others included the worship of Jupiter Dolichenus, Manichaeism and, of course, Christianity. Shrines dedicated to Mithras have been found at sites as far apart as Hadrian’s Wall in northern Britain and Dura Europos on the River Euphrates in Syria. This plaque may well have decorated the wall of such a Mithraeum (place of worship). Busts of Sol (the Sun) and Luna (the Moon) watch over the ritual scene of Mithras slaying the bull, aided by a dog, snake, and scorpion.

TODAY IN HISTORY
Tumblr media
15 December 37 AD
Nero was born, and later became the last Roman Emperor of the Julio-Claudian dynasty.
He ascended to the throne in 54 AD at age 16, following Emperor Claudius' death. Nero's rule started moderately but became increasingly autocratic.
He is infamous for the Great Fire of Rome in 64 AD and his persecution of Christians.
Nero's reign was characterized by his artistic and cultural pursuits alongside political unrest and rebellion.
Confronted with revolt, he committed suicide in 68 AD, bringing an end to the Julio-Claudian line.

Sitting Bull was killed in South Dakota during an attempted arrest by Native American policemen, sent by the U.S. government.
This action was part of efforts to suppress the growing Ghost Dance movement, which Sitting Bull was believed to support.
The attempt to detain him at his cabin on the Standing Rock Reservation escalated into violence, resulting in Sitting Bull being shot in the head.
His death increased tensions among the Lakota, leading to the tragic Wounded Knee Massacre.

As the founder and visionary behind The Walt Disney Company, he created the iconic Mickey Mouse and produced the first full-length animated feature "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs."
Disney also opened Disneyland in 1955 and was developing Disney World at the time of his death.
He is remembered not just for his iconic characters and films, but also for his imagination, creativity, and the joy he brought to millions worldwide.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa reopened after an 11-year, $27 million stabilization project.
The tower has been known for its distinctive lean since the 12th century, but its tilt reached a critical angle by the 1990s.
The project involved removing soil from beneath the higher side and using counterweights to reduce the lean safely.
The aim was to decrease the tilt to a safer angle, not to straighten the tower completely.
This effort successfully reduced the lean by about 45 centimeters and significantly improved the stability.

Starstruck by Mithras
Tumblr media
On my recent trip to Newcastle, I was overjoyed to see these beautiful images of Mithras in person, at the Great North Museum! Mithras and his cult were among my favourite topics to study at uni, so finally seeing the physical carvings - rather than photos - was brilliant! (I very nearly cried)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both hail from Housesteads Roman Fort, along the line of Hadrian's Wall. Pictured above is the Birth of Mithras from an egg (or rock) into the cosmos - surrounded by the Zodiac symbols!
Not much is known about the inner workings of his cult, but he was worshipped across the Roman Empire - despite seeming to have further eastern origins!
Another fun fact - he shares his birthday with Jesus, and was perhaps the biggest rival cult to early Christianity!
Tumblr media
The Tauroctony scene is iconic Mithraic imagery (and was usually fully painted). This image would form the centrepiece to all his temples, which were usually constructed underground. However, it's symbolism is complex, layered and in all honesty, unknown to us.
But we have THEORIES! There is definitely some form of astronomical/cosmological significance, as he is always flanked by the sun and moon, with stars painted onto his cape. He always looks away from the bull, and is usually joined by a snake and or dog, who aid in the attack. Some believe that the image depicts Mithras slaying a primordial evil, others believe he served as a sort of star map.
There is still so much to uncover about the cult of Mithras. However, its nature as a mystery cult and limitation to initiated members means we're unlikely to never know the full truth about the God, his followers or his purpose :( x

The next seventeen letters printed are certainly genuine and were written by Henry during his courtship of Anne. They survive, oddly, in the Vatican library, something that has led to the suggestion that they were stolen from Anne by Cardinal Campeggio: this would account for the fact that his bags were searched when he reached Calais on his return to Rome.

No but forreal. America tied its whole economy into domestic exploitation, war, beta phase NFTs and volatile bit coin. They fucked up on those things and got on the bull of Israel hoping its wild and violet bucking around the middle east AND AMERICA would lead to profit and fix Americas bad country management by the end of the show as long as they hold on long enough. Now, that bull wont stop buckin and the only way off this ride is to be bucked head first into the cement brick walls of domestic civil unrest, economic collapse, severed foreign relations, and an arrest from the ICC surrounding them. If Americas skull splits against that cement wall, its own actions may lead to it becoming buzzard food for its foes looking to conquer it and take its past trophies- the badges of wealth and power that decorated them for so long. America has canabalized itself tryin to devour others.

Exploring World Civilizations at the British Museum
I was overwhelmed with excitement as I entered each of the rooms at the British Museum. I have never before seen so much history represented in one place.  Unprepared for the amazing relics and archaeological objects spanning thousands of years, I was excited for the opportunity to glimpse into the lives and cultures of so many ancient civilizations.   Established in 1753, the British Museum is…
