ok so we have seen over and over again people's assumptions about how gg main characters's instagrams would look like but how do you think their secret tumblr blogs would be? 👀

hmm! i just went over tumblr in general, because i don’t think all of them would have ‘secret’ tumblrs per say? everyone’s thing under the cut, cause it got SO long. i did not mention chuck because i don’t rlly see chuck as having a tumblr in any universe tbh - i feel like he would think it takes away from his businessy vibe or something.

dan's main would be something with a ts eliot url, like, a snippet from one of his poems, or it would be a whitman url, a snippet from a poem again (i see him with a whitman url of some kind & maybe his blog title is an eliot reference.) dan would 100% have the whole dark academia thing going in some ways, i think his blog would be organised as a grid, and he would reblog pictures of libraries, museums, occasionally of art, and also, quotes. so many quotes. so much literature. if you've been on tumblr long enough you know exactly the kind of blog i'm talking about.

dan's tumblr sideblog, on the contrary, would have nothing to link it to him. it'd probably be the tumblr default theme, pastel colours or something... i feel like dan is the specific genre of trans kid who uses a different set of pronouns online for anonymity purposes and then goes "wait a minute i like these pronouns BETTER". his url would be something extremely mundane and random like coffeeaddict779 or something, and it would be all #vent and #dont reblog. nobody who's following his sideblog knows what his main is, and vice versa.

serena would i think have one of those "be kind, do no harm :)" kind of hipster tumblr blogs, except she's incredibly sincere. she wouldn't have a sideblog, i don't think? and i don't think she'd attach her name to it in any way, probably just pronouns in bio and maybe a 'call me S'. she and dan would be mutuals on dan's main! her blog will be very, uh. aesthetic pictures, reblogs of dolphin videos and music and WIP art videos and anything else that'll catch her eye. she'll tag blair in fashion vids, nate in sailing posts, dan in literary stuff, and vanessa in film related/photography related things. she's having fun! every now and then she'll post a vent post but it's extremely vague and it's either something everyone who knows her irl already knows about her ('i hate my mom so much') or something that says practically nothing ('i am so worried about my brother and wish i could do more to help him.')

jenny's fashion inspo blog!!!! what more do you want me to say. she'd make it big in the fashion community and get anons all the time and she'd probably also have an etsy where she sells things she's sewn and made. everyone sort of knows she's an up and coming designer and she'd find a good community online hopefully!!! her blog would be something simple, with a url like jennydesigns or something (i bet that's taken rn, i havent checked) and her theme would be one of those themes that allows for u to have big images. she would probably post vents in the same way serena does, tag them #personal or #rambles, and have that neat code that allows for the tag to be filtered out whenever anyone views her page on desktop, you know?

i think eric would not have anything specific that he posts. he would just reblog random things - memes, things he finds interesting, jenny's original posts, stuff serena tags him in, cat videos, lgbtq+ positivity, etc. he'd try and stay out of drama (i think he'd turn anon off eventually.) he’d also post a lot of music reblogs or links, i feel?

vanessa's main blog would be one where she posts her own photos and films. because she's professional about it, it'd probably just be @ vanessaabrams. she'd have a sideblog specifically for reblogging other people’s work because she wants to support other artists, and it would be vanessareblogs or something like that, and her bio would mention “main tumblr @ vanessaabrams”. she’d be much adored in the photo/film community and just in general, because she’s one of the few people who hypes up other creators all the time and leaves nice comments in tags and all that. every now and then serena reblogs vanessa’s photography onto her blog and it almost always blows up, but vanessa doesn’t mind. i don’t think vanessa would have a vent blog or even a personal tag, she gives me big ‘i wanna keep my business totally off the net’ kind of vibes.

nate’s blog would be a lot like serena’s except, uh, more openly wanderlusty i think. a LOT of ocean reblogs. every now and then he reblogs keroauc quotes from dan which the girls find extremely hilarious. he talks a lot about sailing and gets a lot of sailing anons. he’d reblog a lot of positivity (mostly because he knows his friends are following him and he wants to brighten up their dash.) dan and vanessa jokingly dm him weed aesthetic posts all the time, but every time they do he reblogs and tags it ‘sent to me’ or somehting like that, and they cant decide whether to be flattered or embarrased. i think nate would also attract a lot of anons who ask for advice and it is something he never expected people coming to him for, but he definitely listens and shares whatever he’s got to say all the same. he’s this blog who should be weirdly niche but everyone sort of knows him and likes him.

saving the best for the last, lol. i have SO many thoughts about blair’s tumblrs.

i think she’d have a main tumblr that’s solely for classic film stuff (audrey! and more) and that’d be @ blairwaldorf, because, well, duh. i think she’d pay for a tumblr theme and get one of those really fancy and cute ones, like a floralcodes ms paint theme. i think she’d also have a sideblog that’s less serious, where she’d reblog things from tv shows, reblog things serena or nate have tagged her in, write her own meta for fandoms she’s in, just generally be a multifandom mess with a #personal tag but nothing too personal. it would still be classy, because she’s blair, but on this blog, she’s just a girl having fun.

and then she’d have a THIRD blog, a sideblog that doubles up as a vent blog. and this one isn’t linked to her other two in an obvious way, nobody knows it’s her, etc. on here she’d probably post a lot about her ed (but i think in a ‘i am struggling and i want to bitch’ way, not in a thinspo way - that’s a whole conversation i have no spoons for, so let’s not go there), she’d post about her insecurities and worries but it would be extremely untraceable. she’d have a fancy theme on this one too, despite it being a vent blog.

hm. now im thinking of the potential of like. dan and blair interacting super frequently on their vent blogs and neither of them knowing it’s the other person!

Hello and welcome

This post is going to be long and detailed, but here’s the gist:

I want to create a blog that will serve as a collection of Patton content in which he's portrayed as the extremely interesting character that he is. This includes angst, character studies, theories, discussions of gray morality, etc, etc. Also, I personally heavily identify with Patton, and whenever I see content of him being absolutely feral? Incredibly cathartic. I just think it’s neat. So, this is a blog for Patton content that presents him as more than the “innocent soft little puffball” he tends to be percieved as in the fandom. And, to be honest, more than anything I just want to inspire as many people as possible to join me in my #LetPattonSayFuck agenda. Let him do it. He deserves it.

it's not my intention to come off as rude, but could you perhaps think more using insane" less? I don't want to tell you what to do but this word as well as others like "crazy" as descriptors are so deeply rooted in common usage but also very, very ableist at the core. I think it's important to unlearn these things and be more mindful of their impact and the implications towards the mentally ill.

this might be a long answer but like... yeah. this can get pretty personal so. that’s why it’s long. **and i am asking anyone reading to not reblog this post because of it being personal** but i wanted to respond to this ask and not ignore it, to let you know that i do care about what you’re talking about, but i do just want to challenge your perspective a little.

i want to say that, although it’s not your intention to come off as rude, it is kind of rude to assume that i don’t deal with mental illness and that i’ve never thought about this before. just because i don’t have all of my mental illnesses listed in my bio does not mean i am not mentally ill... you kind of don’t know anything about me regarding this, because i try and keep it private and not make a lot of vent posts, because i generally am become uncomfortable with venting online to strangers. you saying “the mentally ill” like it’s a foreign concept is pretty funny to me considering that i struggle with mental illness...

okay so. let’s get to the response to this

first off, i agree with you that using words like “crazy” and “insane” can be rude and ableist when used in a rude and ableist context. if you are calling other people “crazy” and “insane” to describe their actions towards you, like a guy saying “my crazy bitch ex girlfriend��, that’s obviously fucked up and an improper use of the word. additionally, other words, like “ps*cho” and shit are totally off the table to say, imho, as they have a much deeper effect.

but i think that it depends on how you use the word. much like saying “that’s so gay,” VS “i’m so gay,” when you’re actually using the word to describe your own feelings and emotions, that’s pretty much a proper use of the word in terms of its definition, instead of using it to hurt others or to associate it with something to look down upon. this leads me to my next point, which is how i use these words to describe myself, which is personal so i’m going to put a read more

as for the personal side and context as to how i typically use these words, i feel like i usually use them in their proper manner, i.e., to describe my own feelings.

this ask came in like, directly after i posted these tags, so forgive me if i’m connecting to the wrong thing, but these were my tags for context:

so my tag “goes insane, bites u” is pretty silly, at first glance. right, it’s like, a meme or a joke? well... the use of “im insaneeeee” as a phrase that has become common recently “as a joke” has actually been kind of relieving to me as someone who deals with trauma and a whole sleuth of other things... like, when i am feeling super overwhelmed, panicked, and yes , “insane,” i can say, “haha im insanneeee” and it won’t sound like i’m weird for being this way, that i’m weird for having panic attacks, meltdowns, sobbing randomly, etc, etc.

you can’t see me do these things, because the entirety of my life doesn’t exist on tumblr , so i understand that it might just seem that i’m some weird random fandom blog who doesn’t give two shits and has a perfectly happy life. but i do experience these things and it’s part of my life

when i say “im going insaneeee”, etc. in relation to posts about parental characters / parental relationships,,,...... did you ever think that there might be a reason behind that? or that i might be reacting in an actual “insane” way? i phrase it jokingly, but a lot of the time, i am actually “going insane.” i phrase it like this for both my own comfort (what i talked about where it normalizes it and makes me feel less weird) but also for brevity, and ALSO? to make the artist/op/etc feel way more comfortable than if i literally just spilled everything and said, “this art represents a relationship i desire between myself and my absent parent, whose violence towards me and my other parent still affects me every day, to this day...........” because that’s fucked up and no one would want to read that coming from a stranger, right? i think i’ve said before that the witcher is like “a coping medium” for me and i interact with it not just on a general fandom level, but it has provided me kind of like a way of dealing with shit that i’ve had to encounter...

obviously i don’t have to describe my entire life and trauma to a stranger on the internet, because that’s just not something that i either feel comfortable with or that i need to do, but i wanted to just give an example of where i’m coming from with this.

i also want to say that i have seen this argument many times, and i also think a lot about a post about this specific argument but i can’t find it right now, but basically what the post says is that eliminating words like “crazy” and “insane” from our vocabularies with no thought of WHY we’re doing it beyond “it can be ableist”, without actually considering what these words mean and the variety of ways in which they can be used, and what we could do to directly benefit the lives of mentally ill people, is a HUGELY liberal standpoint that focuses on the performativity of personal choice instead of the SYSTEMATIC CHANGES that would help lessen the effects of the ableism baked into our society.

so yeah that’s pretty much it, i get if it makes you uncomfortable and i’ll try not to use these words in like derogatory ways like “you’re insane if you think that...” because i get where that can start to feel wrong, although i can’t remember a post i’ve made where i said that (if you want to link me to posts like that that i’ve made, i can edit them).

thanks for the concern anon and i hope this answered your question, but i just want to say like, even though i think your intent was good, please consider how you’re interacting with people and do not assume the mental health status of everyone you see online...

Welcome to Roleplay Salt! This is a blog for roleplayers to vent & rant anonymously about the things that peeve or hurt them in the roleplaying community.

Your submission will always be posted anonymously; no exceptions. (This includes positivity submissions & shoutouts.)

Your submission’s text will be placed in a graphic and then copied as plain text as its caption for accessibility purposes.

Topics must be roleplay-related. (This can, of course, include experiences with partners doing things that may be unrelated to roleplay, but would still be considered relevant if it impacts your roleplaying experience with that particular partner.)

Anyone following our blog will be allowed to leave replies on submissions, whether in agreement or disagreement, and everyone is allowed (even encouraged) to reblog submissions, with or without their own commentary. However, we will delete any spamming comments, including ones that are or are similar to “Why don’t you come off anon and say that?” Such comments provide nothing to the discussion. In fact, they usually shut down discussion and it completely disregards the entire point of this blog’s existence. No one has to “come off anon” nor are they “cowards” for seeking safety behind anonymity. Your aggressiveness with that sentiment only reinforces the reason why they want to be anonymous in the first place. ADDENDUM: We will delete salt replies that involve simply telling others to, essentially, “shut up and move on already” and “stop sending salt replies in about this”. You’re more than allowed to say this things in the comments, but we will no longer be making them a part of any future debates.

We actively edit and restructure the wording of submissions. We read every single one of your submissions and we care about consistency and readability. We will correct any spelling errors, grammar errors, and odd sentencing structure, and we will often lengthen abbreviations and slang, and we will fill out any curse words or sensitive terms that were originally 'censored' in the submissions. Do not take it personally! Again, we aim for consistency. We will never just copy/paste your submission and then post it. That's terrible.

C A L L O U T S & S H O U T O U T S

A callout submission is specifically speaking nastily and meanly about someone else, regardless if it’s the truth or not. All URLs & names in a callout submission will be marked out to preserve the other party’s anonymity as well. We are a safe place for you to release your anger, frustration and hurt, even if it’s towards someone and not something. But we cannot and will not participate in the true nature of a callout. That will need to be something that you do for yourself if you believe that it’s important for you, your friends and your fandom community.

A shoutout submission is specifically speaking kindly and positively about someone else.

All URLs & names in a shoutout submission will remain visible, and the person will be tagged & mentioned on the post so as to better the odds of them seeing it.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

“Who are the moderators?”

Currently, there is only one operating the blog: Moderator Bull.

“Am I allowed to know your roleplay/personal blogs?”

Unfortunately, no. To preserve our own anonymity (for many of the same reasons as the submitters), we have agreed on the terms to never give out our URLs if requested. If we are interested in your blog, then we will follow you at our own discretion!

“Will you remove a submission for me?”

That depends on the type of submission, what it is about, and what your reasoning for wanting it removed is. The whole point of anonymity is that nothing gets tied back to you. The only cases where we will greatly consider removing a submission is if it’s involving a shoutout about you and you don’t want to be affiliated with us.

“Will you remove my comments on a submission?”

Of course! However, we will not remove any corresponding responses to you (except in instances where, if yours is removed, the next comment is made to look like it’s being directed to the person prior to your comment. We don’t want to cause unnecessary conflict.) We will also not be relied upon to keep deleting comments you regret leaving behind. If you’re wanting to leave a public response on submissions, then you must be prepared to have others possibly publicly disagree with you.

“Can I ask you for roleplay advice?”

Go right ahead! But we can’t promise the best or most insightful of answers, or that we’ll get to them relatively soon! Chances are, we will post your questions anonymously so that others in the community can help.

“Why did you follow my blog?”

To make our existence known to you and, if you like us, hoping that you will send in a submission of your own or tell your roleplay partners about us!

“How did you find my blog?”

Most likely through the Recommended sidebar feature, a mutual, or just the good ol’ search function.

“Could you unfollow me?”

If you don’t want to be associated with us, then we recommend blocking the blog so that we don’t unintentionally follow you again!

“Hey, could you do something about the people leaving rude, mean responses on the submissions?”

Unless they are throwing bigoted slurs, threats, or suicide-baiting remarks at the anonymous submitter, they are not doing anything wrong. They have just as much right to disagree with your submission as you had when you sent it to us. We are, first and foremost, a place to vent frustrations or hurts behind the safety of anonymity, and we are also a free-speech blog. We are of the belief that discussions, no matter how heated, is healthy and brings the community together as a whole. Just as your submission may provide someone else with the awareness that they are not alone in similar frustrations, someone disagreeing with your submission may provide a new perspective to you and others that had not been considered before.

“How does name-calling and swearing and being mean add to a discussion? You and your blog are what are wrong with the roleplaying community!”

Just because someone isn’t being nice to you as they give their side of the argument, doesn’t mean that it cancels out their actual argument. You’re choosing to be offended and distracted by how abrasive they are, and that’s no one’s problem to deal with but your own. You have the ability to block anyone so that you no longer have to see their comments on future submissions. Why would we police what people say, the endgame of which would be to ban them from ever reblogging or commenting on submissions again if they don’t listen to us, if you’re not even willing to try solving the problem first by just blocking them? Wanting to have the last word or being upset that your submission didn’t receive the feedback you wanted is not a reason for us to step in and step on someone else’s right to speak, rudely or otherwise. If you’re not going to block them, then why should we?

“Could you not post submissions on sensitive topics like noncon, incest, and pedophilia?”

We have started tagging posts that we believe might be sensitive and controversial in nature with the tag “#twcontroversy”. We recommend blacklisting this tag. If that is still not enough, then we recommend unfollowing/blocking us. These are topics just as relevant in the roleplaying community as anything else.

“Could you promote me?”

Certainly! But only if you are another community-involved blog (a blog that provides a ‘service’ to the community, such as advice, roleplay help, a place for confessions, etc.), and it must be relevant to the roleplaying community to some degree! If you want to promote a roleplay blog, then we suggest sending in a shoutout submission!

“I sent a confession in weeks ago. Where is it? How long will it take for it to get posted?”

It’s either sitting in the queue or sitting in our drafts, waiting to be queued. We have 1,200+ followers so far, and on average we’re sent 15+ submissions a night. We only post between 5 to 8 submissions at night. Your submission is on a wait list. That’s all we can tell you.

“Why don’t you just close your submission box until all the current confessions are posted?”

Because we’re a vent blog first and foremost. If we close our ask/submission boxes, then we’re no longer an option for people who might desperately need to vent or talk about something that could have happened to them that day but have no other options. We want to be a healthy alternative to just bottling it up or possibly lashing out at the wrong people.

“I don’t believe you! I think you deleted my submission because one of you didn’t like it! You’re not unbiased at all!”

We’ve posted submissions about highly controversial roleplay topics like noncon, racism, transphobia, and pedophilia. We reassure you that your salt submission about OCs, theme trends, blog selectivity, etc. is not on that same level, least of all to the point that one of us would delete it. The only submissions that we have deleted, so far, are the ones that have included racial and homophobic slurs.

“[insert OP/commenter] is obviously a rapist/pedophilie!”

If we find that you have accused someone of being a rapist, pedophile, or apologist of either because of their defensive views on noncon/pedophilic ships or roleplay, your comment will be removed and you will be blocked. These are serious accusations that you shouldn’t be throwing at people over fictional content and we refuse to to let you use this blog as a platform to spew such slanderous accusations.

i typically use /j to indicate a joke, /s for sarcasm, and /rq for a rhetorical question. this is because some people have trouble reading tone over the internet, and using these helps them enjoy their experience on my blog.

now, onto the fun stuff.

I can and will block “like spammers.” this is for a variety of reasons, mostly coming down to the fact that liking does nothing to help expand the reach of creators, it fogs up their notifications, and is only useful in certain situation (vent posts, good day asks, basically personal stuff.) Just to be clear, I won’t block people who like a post and move on, but someone coming to my blog and liking everything with no reblogs, will get blocked. I don’t have time to clear my notifications if I, or artists I reblog from, don’t get any exposure in return. sorry not sorry.

[hermitcraft fandom specific] I am a pro-shipper, meaning i ship the little minecraft characters together for my own self enjoyment. terrifying, right? /s /rq. If you’re uncomfortable with this, feel free to block! again, it doesnt affect me in any way, and if I interact with something of yours and you arent comfortable with me (a shipper) doing so, please DM me so i can remove it! No hard feelings, i promise. as for the dream team aspect of shipping, I am not against it, however I do not personally ship any of them. my aroace butt just projects way too much to think about them in any sort of non-platonic relationship for people who say “DNI if you ship real people uwu,”,,,,,,i literally have no idea what u are trying to say. So I know I’ve never really talked about either of my other 2 main fave bois on here before. Riddler and Scarecrow from DC. And that was cause a creator of one of my favorite things (waiting4codot, but I don’t wanna tag him in this, just 100% go listen to his audio drama 💙) doesn’t rly want ppl having his versions of the characters on blogs like this. And I was a little nervous about doing so once I saw him say as much. So I’ll respect that.....

However, I AM allowed to just talk about what I do/don’t like, and why, and simply...agree with a headcanon for that character even if I’m not referring to the same fan storyline that was written for them... For Jonathan too... soooooooo... : T

Just to be clear, bc my anxious butt don’t want anyone coming for me, lol. I’ll only ever be pointing at Things I Like from Coco, specifically, and being like “ah this... this is besutiful!” And otherwise will just talk about my own versions of The Bois~. U U 💚🧡

Cause I wanna talk about Ace Edward Nygma in general a sec~. Just know Coco’s version, and story, is always going to be my favorite~. And the comic of Hush, for Batman canon, is my second favorite~. (And no, I’ve never played any of the video games. I have seen the one from TellTale Games, which was ok. Not ‘my’ Ed, but still decent~. And, of course, the (not bald version, lol) of him in Batman The Animated Series. Which I certainly like much more than TellTale’s version. Also not fully ‘my’ (favorite version of) Ed, but probably the cutest version imho~ 💚 I’ve also seen some of the one in the show Gotham, but I’d like him mUch more if he was just....his own character, and not The Riddler. In fact that’s p much how I feel about that entire show in general, lol.)

ANYWAY. On to Edward~.

I really love an Ace Ed 😭

Just getting to have a fun Boi that’s very full of life, and excited about all there is to learn (and everything he already knows), someone that you genuinely don’t feel any pressure to be something/one you’re not. Someone who sort of brought a spark for learning back into your life~. Maybe school and homework drained any hope of a love for it you could have had. But talking to Edward made you realize, hey. You’re an adult now. You don’t HAVE to do homework! You don’t HAVE to try to make yourself remember things! You can just glean knowledge, and have fun with it! And if you do, for instance, actually happen to want to write a paper on something, it will be your choice, and on a subject you like~.

So you just grow to love whenever he tells you all this stuff he knows, and you can both be excited lil know it all’s together~.

And of course I’m always a sucker for an arch of “I don’t need anybody. Not friends, certainly not a lover. No one. I’m happy as a clam with my villain shtick. Love’s for losers.” getting totally turned around if ever he were to find you in some kind of trouble, and in need of his help~.

The thought of him going from that, to slowly and finally admitting he just...genuinely enjoys having you in his life, is very sweet to me~.

I imagine there wouldn’t even be any pressure to do so much as kiss, or even be especially snuggly~. You’re not afraid to hug each other when you’re low, not afraid to reach to pat each other’s hands, or knees, to show each other you hear them. You understand. Not afraid to grab a napkin and wipe the other’s face if they’ve got some lil mess on there~. You’re just so casually touchy and close, and it feels so normal and natural~. Maybe for a long time neither of you even question your feelings for each other. You just know there’s a lacking, and a bit of a hole, when one of you is gone from the other for too long~.

It becomes normal to everyone else, too. If, or when, there IS any kisses caught, or just casually done around the other rogues, they probably wouldn’t even call much attention to it. Of course those two are close. Was there ever a time when one was without the other? Can’t recall anymore... maybe a very, very long time ago... (if anyone does call attention to it, they’re the Weird Asshole, probably. Especially if you’re just so casually nice to them all.)

Any idea of sex is probably never thought about. Even if ever you had to share a bed. (Of course being the gentleman he is, he’d offer to find somewhere else. But all you have to do is roll your eyes to make him shrug, and that’s the end of that, lol.)

It’d probably be talked about at some point. Maybe if it was a very known about, and important part of your identity for you, and someone else disrespected it. So of course, Ed’s always the one you turn to to vent and rant about anything, no less something like that. Just as you are, now, for him~. And, assuming you kept him from going to thwack the person with his cane, the conversation about it would really just be a very “YES! Me too! God, it’s so nice to finally know another ace like me. Someone finally gets it.” kind of one~.

Honestly, I also HEAVILY subscribe to the hc that Ed loves old-timey things. Black and white (or otherwise old/old looking) films, 40’s and 50’s music and clothes, etc.~ So, really, any physical show of love between the two of you would almost definitely be done through dancing more than anything else~. He does love to be a bit of a show off, and sweep and charm people off their feet after all~. (Singing isn’t off the table, either~.)

But really, you just don’t ever even need to question if the other would feel less fullfilled from the other without sex in the relationship. You’ve told each other plenty with your actions that that will never be the case. And you go back to constantly, silently, loving the gifts you each get from the other being in your life~. 💚

Y’all it really Irks me when people don’t or are too afraid to “put a post in the main tag” bc like. It’s counterproductive to what the tags are FOR.

Tags are for organizational and filtering purposes.

Aside from personal posts, if you’re making fan content of any kind you should put all relevant tags on it. That way those tags are attached to the post, and if anyone blocks that tag, it’ll block that post, no matter what tags another blog puts on it when they reblog. (And you can easily find posts of that type on your blog)

Like. If people tag their stuff correctly, you should be able to block and filter any content you don’t want to see!! Even if you don’t like a ship in your fandom, the fans of that ship have a right to use the “main tag” by virtue of them being a part of the fandom. As long as they also use other relevant tags (like ships and triggers) then you can just block the tags!!

Like. I hate when I have to see stuff I block/filter out bc op jus straight didn’t tag it right. Like when there’s 1000000 different variations of a tag and I can’t possibly block them all, or when op straight up jus doesn’t tag their post at all and it winds up on my dash

Like. I don’t care what content ur making, you’re allowed to do that and it’s fine and etc etc. just let me not see it? Please? Jus for my own personal comfort??

And this is again specific to fandom content, as in like, when ppl don’t tag certain ships on a post, or when they tag the ship but not the fandom. This doesn’t apply to personal posts bc those are personal and u have a right to not tag them so ppl don’t see them.

Idk I’m venting and rambling but basically if u tell someone “don’t put this in the main tag” I’m really side eyeing you bc that’s so inconsiderate to other ppl who want to block

Hi, I just found out that there is an entire community for maladaptive daydreamers here and it’s so relieving.!! Bc I feel less alone. I just created a blog to rb and interact with everyone but I’m not sure how the community works at all. Like the tags, and the names used like paras and so. Could u give me an explanation how things work around here? Like things I should keep in mind and how to inset myself in the community:) thank u so much by the way

I’ll do my best!

@babydollsmadd has a good list of MD tags HERE. Avoid using #MDD, that’s the major depressive community and were well established before we ever showed up. If you want your posts to be seen you should always use tags, people often search specific tags rather than rely on their home feed to show them what’s new in the community. #actuallymadd and #maladaptive daydreaming seem to be the most active.

I have a post detailing some of the common terms HERE and many other blogs have their own glossaries, HERE’S one by @chaosdreamchronicles.

Overall the MD community is very welcoming. You’ll see a mix of posts, some focus on positivity, some are vent posts, some informative, some detail their struggle or treatment and some focus on creativity by posting art of their characters/paras and some offer their blog space as an anonymous outlet for others.

You will come across some blogs that dislike their posts being shared outside of the MD community, they will usually announce this in the post in some way using a banner or the tagging system; read the tags of posts, they very often add supplemental information or context about what you’re reading. If there are no tags keep in mind it may be a post they did not intend to reach any further than their followers and reconsider if it’s appropriate to reblog.

Read bios and descriptions, people will often detail who they a comfortable interacting with. Things like not being comfortable interacting with bloggers of a certain age or blogs who often post material they are not comfortable seeing on their feed.

People also appreciate trigger warnings if you’re going to be posting material that may warrant one. I’m really not the best person to ask about Tumblr etiquette when it comes to this topic though, being what I am I almost never use trigger warnings. Followers might request that you tag certain material, some might even ask you if there’s anything they should tag, how you handle it is up to you, sometimes people may have to block you for their own mental health, sometimes you may have to block others, it’s just what needs to be done sometimes and there’s no shame in it.

As far as following/interacting, here’s what I’ve done; I like and reblog a lot of posts, anything that seems relevant to the direction of my blog. I reply to whatever I am able to and I ask my followers to weigh in with their experiences and opinions. And I follow a lot of people. I follow back anyone who follows me but when I’m following someone cold I check their blog and only hit that button if MD is specifically mentioned in their name, description or bio or if they have specifically reblogged a post titled something like “reblog if you’re a madd blog” (I don’t want to accidentally ‘out’ anyone). On a side note, try not to get too upset if someone asks you to unfollow them, I’m a little lax with my follows and people have to DM me to unfollow them sometimes when I’ve hit that button blind. It happens and it’s not personal.

And I use asks! A lot. Ah, I see a few followers out there thinking “hmm, do you? I’ve never gotten an ask from madd-information”. Yes, you probably have. Asks are wonderful because you and click the little anonymous button and no one will know who sent it. I don’t have a personal blog so when I feel like sharing those things I do it anonymously through other blogs. And sometimes I just send fan mail, don’t be afraid to show support or appreciation for a blog you’ve been stalking, asks are almost always welcome in our tightknit little community.

Submissions are a little different, not everyone will have button turned on and they can be used in a few different ways. You can use them to create content somewhere when it’s not particularly relevant to your own blog, particularly for blogs more focused on curating content for the community rather than chronicling the experiences of the blog owner, like a few of the ones linked above. And on some blogs you can use them to advertise, I’ll let those people make themselves known in the notes.

My blog is one of those you can advertise on; If you have links to an MD resources or information you can use the submissions button to write your own post about it and have it shared here, which can be helpful for smaller blogs who may not otherwise be seen very widely. I’ll approve requests for MD information as well, you may need the aid of the wider community rather than just me and can use submissions for that rather than asks. If you want to plug your MD community, Youtube channel, website or art, I also approve those or, as the case is here, if you’re a new blog you can also submit an introduction post and pick up a few followers that way. I do reblog introduction posts when I see them, but I don’t always see them and this can help if you’re one who fell through the cracks.

As wonderful as this community is we do disagree and argue. The content reflected here may not always be what you need. You may be using creativity and positivity to cope with your MD and find vent posts pull you down to a dark unhelpful place. You may be someone who needs to vent and distance yourself from daydream content and find posts with a more positive spin enable problematic behavior in you. Sometimes we get frustrated and lash out at one another. It’s important to remember that we are a community of all different ages, sexes, nationalities, genders, cultures, socio-economic status’ etc and within that we are a community of people with very different experiences of MD, different in the severity, different in the causes and different in our approaches to dealing with it. Be considerate, try to forgive, everyone here is your future best friend and we’re very glad you found us.

There’s nothing wrong with liking something and being attached to characters, making art of it, having a blog, reblogging it, talking about it, that’s okay. That’s okay! But you? You fucking hold the characters so close and act like they’re your own characters. You get upset when something doesn’t go your way in the show. There are some decent ones out there, and although they’re rarepairs by now, they’re a lot better quality than the Karabita bullshit you spew out.

me saying karabita is canon is a joke, and my disdain for non karabita matsubita ships is based half in coping reasons and half in chibita has literally no chemistry with the other matsus and seems to not like any of the other bros at all whereas hes actually shown some level of tolerance or interest in karamatsu

While we’re on the subject of non-canon ships, Atsutodo isn’t canon either. Fuck’s sake, they were on screen together for 10 damn seconds. Lemme tell ya something. Karamatsu sure as hell isn’t autistic. Literally the only reason you headcanon him as such is because you yourself claim to be autistic and because “uwu he’s m fav,,,, i relate to him,,,”. Also, I realize “jyushi is autistic xD” headcanons are common, but JESUS FUCK it’s time for them to die. Jyushimatsu is just bizarre in and out, it’s his personality and his way of life. If you’re gonna hc him as autistic for his personality, you’re obviously ignoring his physical abilities. What about that time he cloned himself? Grew different sizes? What about how he seemingly has no bones (tentacle arms)? But oh, let’s ignore that, because he’s always got a smile on his face and he has a childish personality so DURR HE’S OBVIOUSLY AUTISTIC. Also, you used to headcanon Ichimatsu as autistic, but as soon as you started hating him you threw that headcanon out the window. This is PROOF you only headcanon your favorite characters as autistic, and that’s some of the STUPIDEST shit ever.

Oh yeah, I’d love to hear why you hate Ichimatsu so much? Shut up, I know it’s because “hhhh he abuses kara” but that’s fucking wrong. Listen, Ichimatsu isn’t exactly my favorite either but at least I don’t make him out to be a fucking asshole to Karamatsu. All of the brothers have treated Karamatsu like shit at one point or another. They’ve thrown things at him, ditched him, called him names, ignored him, it’s a fucking trope in the anime that Karamatsu was the one to get hurt. Sure, season 2 has kinda turned that around, but the whole “Ichimatsu is bitter to Karamatsu” thing is the dynamic between them. They DO have moments where they’re not onto each other, though. See how Ichimatsu followed Karamatsu into the woods? Remember the episode where they switched clothes? They didn’t kill each other neither of those times, did they? And yes, I’m aware Ichimatsu has hurt Karamatsu at times (the bazooka, I think smacking?) but he doesn’t LITERALLY ABUSE HIM. You don’t see him kicking him around, PUNCHING HIM, HITTING HIM, EVERY SECOND OF HIS LIFE. Yes, he calls him names. Yes, he’s threatened to hurt him (“I’ll kill you, Shittymatsu.”) but he’s been stopped or HAS stopped every time. If he really was so intent on hurting Karamatsu, don’t you think he wouldn’t ignore his brothers and hurt Karamatsu anyway? But no, he didn’t, and he stopped each time he grabbed Kara. That’s because the entire “Ichimatsu despises Karamatsu” thing is a GAG in the show. It’s meant to be funny. It’s not meant for your negative ass to label it as abuse and then boohoo about it every time Ichimatsu is mentioned. That’s not a valid reason to hate a character, hell, even Karamatsu’s seiyuu said in a Doramatsu CD that Karamatsu was just comic relief. And if you’re gonna look for a reason why Ichimatsu dislikes Karamatsu, consider the hinted and well-supported reason: Ichimatsu “hates” Karamatsu because of how confident he is and how he can always be himself. Ichi is insecure. Ichi is antisocial. Kara, on the other hand, can express himself and show how “cool” he is. Consider that Ichimatsu wants to be more like him, hence why he said he’s the “number one Karamatsu boy” in that one episode.

In conclusion, I would like to say you need to shut the fuck up and chill with your fandoms and headcanons, realize headcanons aren’t canon, and also get your head out of your ass. You’ve done so many wrong things and need to stop blaming them on others. You’ve lied, insulted, and put the blame on so many of your old friends, you’ve avoided people who you deem “toxic” (simply because they have different opinions than you), you think people can’t form their own opinions, and you don’t back up your friends when they’re getting shittalked. You act like an assoholic brat and cannot, for the life of you, open up your eyes and see this. You’re lucky the dicktwats on your server are there for you, because if they weren’t, you’d be all alone, and honestly? That seems pretty good at this point. Fits you perfectly.

Are you currently in a relationship?: No. I’m rather indifferent about it. It’s been a good experience, I think? I’ve grown more self-confident since my last serious commitment several years ago.. But at the same time, I wouldn’t be opposed to it? I value companionship. Just with the right person, with the right intentions, for a prolonged period of time. I’m not actively seeking anything, but should it come along, I’d be happy.

Why did you choose your url: I was trying to figure out what to call my pokemon go account, and I was talking to Seb (my SO), and I asked them to look in the nearest book and look up a random page and say the first line. It was a daredevil comic and the line was “But what is true?”, said by Foggy to Matt. I liked it so much that I changed my blogname too! It is smh extremely fitting to me and my life experience

Gender: oh dear lmao. I guess I’m one of those people who can’t reliably identify as cis nor trans because I’m already stuck feeling not-quite-human so how would I specify a “category of human”. it’s giving me unreasonable anxiety because I feel stressed about being referred to as a specific gender, but I would probably feel more stress asking for any other arrangement. time for a tag game! i was tagged by @halwardpavushatersclub bc i asked him to and he’s lovely.

1: Why did you choose your url?

there was a post going around a while back and i can’t remember the wording but the phrase “gaydognerd” was in it and i messaged @gaydognerd like “look it you” and they made that their url, so i had to make one to match. i’m queer, into space, and attempting to be punk.

2: Any side blogs? If you have them, name them and why you have them.

oh jeez ok. I have a few vent blogs/crazy brain diaries, some from when doing readmores was hard (used it to try and get around it i think). of the others, p much none get used much anymore (so proceed with plenty of caution and no judgement), but they are:

@actualsunbeam - a blog about actual sunbeam scott mccall and how much i love him

the oldest post i have is from August 2011 so, uh, too fucking long.

4: Do you have a queue tag?

nope! I’ve never bothered with a queue. i think i’ve put stuff on there a couple times when i’ve gone on a MASSIVE reblog spree of something quite specific and wanted to pace it out but i don’t use it as a general rule.

5: Why did you start your blog in the first place?

bc all my friends had one? we probably migrated over from LJ/deviantart/a combination of the two.

6: Why did you choose your icon/pfp?

lmao the last time i changed my icon was 2016. it is a photo and i will give a gold star, chocolate, and a drabble of yr choice to anyone who can figure out what the fuck it’s a picture of

turns out i do not have one! I assume this means on mobile view but i also don’t have one on desktop view. my desktop background is something i put together bc i like sunflowers and space and i am very pround of it.

the ‘what’s your go to dragon age class” hands down. it’s a little comically frustrating bc ofc it’s the five-second on-a-whim post that people go nuts for, not the ones i spent time on lmao. I think i’m very funny but i guess tumblr does not ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

9: How many mutuals do you have?

around 50 according to the list, but tbh some of those blogs don’t even exist anymore and others are from folks who have escaped tumblr so oh well

like i said, i think i’m hilarious so of course i have (the phrase “back in my day we called it night blogging and blamed it on the australians” jumps to mind)

13: How often do you use tumblr each day?

it depends honestly. if i don’t have much on that day or feel like hanging out it’s a few hours. if i’m busy and working all day and traveling i might not get on here at all. most days it probably works out to 1-2 hours mostly scrolling in the morning and then on breaks during the day.

14: Did you ever have a fight/argument with another blog once? Who won?

honestly i don’t know that I have? just bc i’ve never been ‘popular’ enough to get into a fight with anyone? the closest would be when i fought with someone i’m actually friends with and we’ve blocked each other on here?

15: How do you feel about “you need to reblog this” posts?

i have a firm policy that i do not reblog them bc it sets off a complusion chain reaction very badly, and i don’t want to subject anyone else to those either. if it’s an important enough post i’ll find another with the same info and less guilt-tripping.

16: Do you like tag games?

I do! I love talking about myself and finding out about other folks but always worry that people won’t WANT to be tagged.

rn i would say i have squishes on all of you and a crush on @genderqueerardway and @gaydognerd and @glitter-witch if yr still around. I did once get engaged to a mutual but that’s a whole other story
