Transformers x HASO Headcannons | Part 2

Back on my Transformers kick and it’s making me depressed about the realism behind humans being helpless and tiny. I also went over this in my first set of Transformers headcannons as a reply, so this is me expanding on a lot of those points.

My main focus is that if humans were the average size of other sentient beings in the Transformers universe, we would finally be taken a little bit seriously. Cue ridiculous research into humans' actual strengths.

Transformers are coming to understand our evolutionary path. Because we’re so small, it’s easily overlooked that humans are still predators. We hunt, we kill, and we’re violent. If we don’t have someone to hate as a unified group, we turn on ourselves.

But specifically, we’re pursuit predators. Our endurance and stamina is what makes us deadly. Our main hunting strategy back in the cave and hut days was literally to just walk after an animal for days on end until it either gave up or dropped dead from exhaustion. We can go miles without tiring (when trained properly).

As long as we have water, we can last a month without food. The longest someone ever fasted was for 382 days (look up Agnus Barbieri), and that was with the bare essentials of liquids and vitamins. No solid food.

And when we do have to find our own food, anything is game. We will find a way to eat it. Whether poisonous, venomous, tough-skinned, or just a lot of teeth, we will figure out a way to make it a meal. We have the advantage of being omnivores. In a game of survival, outside of predators, we’re top dogs.

While no natural armor sucks, our hairless selves are perfectly adapted to adapting to any environment. We are hella sensitive even to the slightest changes. We can smell weather changes based on moisture in the air, taste anomalies in our food, feel the slightest brush on something on our skin, etc. Our lack of armor allows for easy flexibility most species can only dream of, especially transformers. Getting into tight spots, getting out of tight spots, and moving hella fast is our bread and butter (when motivated lol).

One thing I really find interesting is our prey/predator instinct vs transformers.

Transformers did not evolve (as far as my knowledge goes) with natural predators. They have been through horrific times, from slavery under Quintessons to their own government, but the only really natural evolutionary advantage they have is their technological adaptability. Their ease of learning alien languages is an example. As well as their main transformation ability.

TF One really highlights this (small spoilers). Their planet is shown to be a constantly changing environment, from flat surfaces to rapidly changing cliff faces. Their ability to transform between a vehicle and bipedal form is imperative to quickly adapt to such a fast-paced and even deadly environment. The only predators I can account for are scraplets and spark eaters (there are probably more, but idk them). However, their reaction to this is to pull guns and freak out. They assume their technology and "superior" processes will solve all their problems.

But their cockiness in other environments shows how nonchalant they are about these interactions, and it backfires heavily. The only real threats they see are other transformers and larger sentient species. Plus diseases, but that’s a whole other thing.

Humans on the other hand have had to contend with thousands of predator species over our evolutionary path. It’s only in the last couple hundred years or so that we’ve truly eliminated most of these threats or domesticated them. And when I say eliminate, I mean either mass hunting or learning about said predators to easily deal with them and avoid dangerous situations. Our prey instinct gives us the alertness to deal with imminent threats easier than species that don’t have such a strong experience.

That leads to the big evolutionary advantage of humans - our brains. Even though we’re considered primitive by transformer standards, that’s transformer standards. A race that has existed for ten million years through technological immortality, is also their undoing. Because they have lived for so long, breaking free of long-held traditions is near impossible for their society, which is why their war took place. Without consistent generational death and birth, they are literally stuck in the past.

Humans don’t have that issue - we change with the times because of our short mortality. While not the main influence for the size of our brains, it’s a point I wanted to add to clarify why transformers may struggle to adapt to certain environments versus humans.

Through the consistent stresses we endure because of our vulnerability, we have to consistently think outside the box to survive. To stagnate is death, forward is all we can do. Our brains have developed in such a way that we can comprehend, understand, and innovate with ease. It’s our main calling card. Hell, when there’s no stress we just do that shit for fun (shrimp literally frying rice contraptions for example).

When you combine these talents and we know what the fuck we’re doing, we’re pretty much unstoppable. As long as we’re on an even playing field. Via size. Because let’s be honest, that’s the only reason humans are looked down upon (other than being organic, but if anyone has any other ideas, let em flow).

A personal fav of mine is the idea that if we were the same size as the average transformer, we’d be cryptid level creepy. The way we move, behave, even the way we smile would be unnerving, no matter how similar we look. If anything, the similarities between the average cybertronian and human would probably freak transformers out, seeing their own features reflected in an organic. Noses, eyes, teeth, especially toes.

My personal headcannon is that Transformers would think toes are so weird. Like, what’s the point of having so many extra digits? Cue our climbing abilities and balancing in weird places. Or just closing a drawer or door with a foot. Grabbing something with the dogs. Pull a chimpanzee and let the weird looks fly.

Better yet, our pain tolerance. Sure, we’re squishy and get hurt easily thanks to the lack of armor and exposed skin. But that just builds pain tolerance. We tolerate getting picked up and thrown around by these giant asses so much because it’s what we’re already used to. We teach our children coordination, balance, their physical limits, and so much more through rough play. Its how we learn to become this versatile.

Roughhousing, doing dangerous shit just for fun, our vulnerability makes us used to the pain. It becomes easy to ignore and work through. This leads to the crazy shit about getting stabbed or shot and just walking it off. Imagine a transformer losing their shit over their human getting shot and the humans just like, “damn, feels like when I burnt my hand on the stove” or some shit. Unfazed.

And ANOTHER thing. Our instincts play a big role. That feeling you get when being watched? Or uncanny valley? I have a huge headcannon that humans would not be fooled by holomatter avatars. It would just hit us immediately. Transformers have no instinct to breathe. They probably don’t think about blinking. Their movement would probably be stiff and awkward, used to navigating spaces with more stationary bulk. Sure, they could probably program their avatars to do it, but I get a feeling that you would… get a feeling.

Plus their clothes choices make no sense half of the time (I’m looking at Rodimus, wtf was that getup in swerves arc in MTMTE?? Only Nautica and Swerve looked normal, plus Megatron - without his shoulder-padded trenchcoat).

This was a 2am rant, so if it’s unclear, I apologize. And if anyone wants to clarify or make corrections, please do! Again, I am not up to date on all comics or lore, so I’m probably missing a lot of shit. This is based on my personal feelings, knowledge, and observations.

Why was Digimon Frontier like this?

Something I have heard a lot of people talk about in regards to Digimon Frontier, is... Well: "Why was it like this?" Especially because of three things: Why is Izumi probably the most sidelined and sexualized female character in all of Digimon (outside of maybe Digimon Xros Wars' female cast)? Why is Izumi the only girl? And why do Takuya and Kouji get so much front and center screentime in comparison to everyone else?

The thing is that I know some of the answers. And no, it isn't really that the series composer (a role roughly equatable with an US showrunner) Tomita Sukehiro is a sexist or anything. He worked actually on a lot of female lead anime, some of it adaptions of Shojo manga, some even mostly original work.

Now, I do have the slight suspicion that Kaizawa Yukio, the main director, is a bit of a horndog, Mainly because Xros Wars became a whole lot hornier when he joined the project after not being included from the beginning. So, I wouldn't put it past him. lol

Ironically, a lot of what Digimon Frontier is, can be explained with what Digimon Adventure did not get to be.

I would say that Digimon Adventure had an infamously chaotic preproduction, but fact is that this is neither famous not infamous. But yeah, the pre-production of the show went through a total of three teams, before finally ending with the team that we know did the series. With Kakudou Hiroyuki (who was involved from the very beginning, but in another position) as the director, Nishizono Satoru as the series composer, and with Yamatoya, Maekawa, Yoshimura, Masaki, Yoshida, and Urasawa writing episode scripts. (Maekawa and Yoshimura would eventually go on and do the series composition of 02.)

If you were to ask me what the biggest issue with Digimon Adventure is, then I would say it is the overcrowding of the show with characters. 8 main characters is a whole lot for 50 episodes. It is something you usually can only do if you outright make clear priorization happen. Because you will not be able to adaquately develop 8 characters (16, if you count the Digimon) in 50 episodes. Or I guess 54 episodes.

In a way Digimon Adventure does prioritize the characters, but in a way that it is not properly communicated towards the audience. I think it is pretty clear, that there is a priority towards Taichi and Yamato, though ironically towards Mimi and Jou as well, if go by time that we focus on those characters in particular.

Now, the thing is, that Nishizono knew this were too many characters. Originally when developing the plan went like this: "We do six characters, one for each of the 'good' fields established before." Meaning: One character with a Dragon's Roar Digimon, one with Nature Spirit, Wind Guardians, Deep Savers, Jungle Troopers and then one Virus Buster.

I think most people know by now that indeed it was not intended from the beginning for Hikari to join the main characters. (Which is also the reason why Gennai is totally not surprised to see seven kids on File Island, but then suddenly remembers later that there should have been eight.)

But even without Hikari (who also received a Virus Buster), there is another group overpresented: Jungle Troopers. And this is because originally Mimi was not planned to be there. However, fairly late in pre-production it was decided that to have a bit more appeal to a female audience (while boys were always the main target-demographic) there should be another girl. So Mimi and Palmon were added fairly late.

This is ironically the reason why Mimi is fairly well written: She follows a different writing paradigm than everyone else. Which is kinda ironic, because it also made her to one of the favorites of many folks working on the show. lol

But yeah, this brings me back to Digimon Frontier.

Tomita and Nishizono knew each other and were pals. And when the call was made, that Tomita would do series composition for Frontier, the two of them went out and toyed around with ideas. And one of the things they ended on was this "too many characters" problem Nishizono had run into.

So, Tomita wanted to make show that worked with somewhat similar ideas to Adventure (note how both shows start with the kids being isekai'd to the Digital World) with a group of characters based on the original make up of the Adventure-crew prior to executive meddling. Hence eventually six kids, just one girl, and one small kid. And with a clearer focus on who the main-main-characters are - Takuya and Kouji.

I personally do not really mind the fact that Izumi is the only girl in the group. But yeah, the fanservice can at times be weird, given that even as Fairymon she is just a 10yo kid. lol

But yeah, in the end, the context of how something like this happens can be very interesting, I think xD

Yautja x human ft worm on a string

I had some more thoughts :)

•It’s really interesting to me how humans are at their core a prey species. You can argue that forwards facing eyes are a trait of predators however it’s seen in basically all monkeys and apes and they are primarily vegetarians. They eat small prey like insects or small mammals but aren’t on the scale of say k-9’s, felines, and other obligatory carnivores. I believe it’s primarily a trait derived from our deeply social species. Our eyes are a huge part of our kinds communication wether we are looking at something or someone. We follow the direction of peoples eyes when talking. It’s been a great tool in our development.

•that being said I feel like predatory species like the yautja would find it fascinating to watch a human go from prey species to brutal predator in a matter of moments due to any given circumstances. Our instincts to danger are typically the five F’s. Fight, flight, freeze, fawn and faint. (For those of you who don’t know freeze is when you become unresponsive much like a deer in the headlight. Fawn is when you try to essentially suck up to the threat and get them to calm down and no longer be a threat. This is usually seen in abusive relationships where people will try to appease their abusor by avoiding conflict or doing whatever they can to get the abusor in a good mood again even at their own detriment. And faint is well.. faint lol.)

•Humans developed carrion stomachs due to our tendency to go after the largest strongest prey possible. We had so much meat we couldn’t eat it all and it would spoil. Our stomachs developed strong acids to kill bacteria in meat that has been sitting.

•humans are one of the only species on the planet to actively hunt the largest and strongest of any animal in a given herd/group. Which I think is something the yautja relate too.

•for humans this was out of necessity. The biggest animal provided the most food for our large social groups. We needed to provide the most food for our people. And our ability to kill from a distance and out do our prey in endurance allowed us to not have to worry about energy expenditure like big cats who hunt alone and need to conserve as much as possible thus hunting whatever is the easiest.

•we did this for so long that we developed predatory instincts. However at our core we still have prey instincts. Your yautja finds that cute. :)

•he is much larger, stronger and deadlier than you without armor and weapons. Sharp teeth and claws with a scaled hide and muscle structure that could knock over a bus is nothing to sneeze at. He absolutely adores the difference between the two of you. Your much smaller form with soft skin and tiny blunt teeth and nails is endearing. But this also makes him extra worried for you when you go hunting. He has to remember that humans are fine predators but only when they have someone else to rely on.

•humans are NOT meant to be alone. In virtually anything. Todays society will have you believe in toxic ideals like pulling yourself up by your boot straps and not needing to rely on anyone. But humans at their very core are meant to be in large deeply socially bonded groups. It takes a village to raise 1 human properly. And our society has forgotten that. Your yautja finds it deeply unsettling when he finds out that your culture is not as social as it seems from the outside looking in. With everyone living so close together and there being so many people in such small areas you’d think everyone would know everybody. But it couldn’t be further from the truth. Single parents and fear stricken neighbors run rampant in most of the cities. So when he sees you pack bonding with a roomba he takes it upon himself to be your best friend.

•that’s another thing. Humans are so social we pack bond with virtually anything. We crave intimacy so badly (not like that you pervs) that we will pack bond with ANYTHING. You name it. A dog? So common. A car? Strange to him but not uncommon for one to become at least a little attached to something important like that. A fuzzy noodle with googly eyes attached? It’s a worm on a string? Ok we’re getting you some help.

•your getting dragged to an oomanologist and he prescribes you a pet.

•your pet ate the worm on a string

•there were tears

•he’s secretly happy about it

•he actually tried to get rid of it several times. Garbage shoot? You walked in on him mid act. Burn it? The bastard wouldn’t even reach the fire because the string kept getting tangled to twigs and branches that hovered above it. A tall shelf? Well he found you sitting on top of the fridge like a gargoyle once so that was out of the question.

•your yautja regularly has to remember that he’s a lot bigger than you and you are so smol. His voice alone can startle you if your not expecting it! There goes the prey instincts again. Loud noises are not your friend that’s for sure.

•did you know that in alien vs predator they used tiger roar sound effects for the yautja roars? They actually do this in a lot of movies and it pisses me off especially when they attach it to things like mountain lions who literally can’t roar but that’s besides the point- anyway tiger roars are actually capable of STUNNING their prey. There’s something about the volume and frequency that actually temporarily stubs other creatures. If the yautja canonically roar similar to tigers and he accidentally stuns you OmG.

Misa lives with her gorgeous tall lesbian roommate rem (who is not in animation but rather photography along with ryuk (I’m thinkin cause shinigami sorta watch things + how they play out kinda like wildlife photography or something lol)) who is also goth alt and rem is in loooooooveeee with her but misa keeps bringing over (“homework help”) this dumb fucking guy (light) who doesn’t even like her and rem is like begging her to realize at least a little bit of her own worth but sadly so far to no avail (but as long as misa is happy rem is happy so 😪 but perhaps one day she will come to her senses but for now rem pines and yearns)

The way misa finds out light’s the owner of The problematic secret twitter is that she happened to look over his shoulder while he was drafting a post while sitting on a bench and talking to ryuk and not paying attention or something on campus one day LOL basically the arrangement is as long as he comes over when she wants help with school things neither she nor rem will tell anyone about him being the owner of the account but at the same time misa is in a questionable place amongst all this too because her clown ass has been running of all things a stan acc FOR this stupid little callout acc light has and for like a while now so currently in the back of his mind he’s trying to figure out how he can flip this around on her.

Shes’s also not in the same classes as L and Light (well same classes but scheduled at different times cause she’s in a different cohort for the year) and so the way the two of them are suddenly hanging out despite having never really met properly + having the totally different schedule piques L’s interest and he’s like ok this is strange. Why are they doing that I was under the impression light didn’t even like girls Also via being in a different class schedule she’s in a different group film group but ALWAYS migrates over to light’s group whenever they’re trying to get work done in labs and her group members all want to strangle both of them for it. hi! so, IN MY AU, zalgoids are anything infected by zalgo. To get infected, you either need to die/on your last breath, and zalgo chooses to infect you. OR you need to be bitten by lazari when she's in her zalgoid form.

all zalgoids are stuck in the slender forest so long as the proxies keep the pages around. the 'ink' on those pages is slendy's inky vomit, which is gross BUT it physically traps zalgoids. sometimes there are 'containment breaches' when people mess with the pages, WHICH IS WHYYY the proxies/slendy get so heated about the pages.

zalgo usually takes eyes as a form of 'payment' for reanimation. he has an obsession with "having eyes everywhere" and his own body is littered with them.

all of his attempts at reanimating humans failed. he's only managed to properly control animals in the forest - so there are several zalgoid wolves, coyotes, bears, even rats littered about.

zalgo usually takes the form of a wolf or a goat, cuz his demon form is easy to spot n takes a lot of energy.

i'll talk about the individual zalgoids underneath the cut! lulu, ann, jack, dina, and lazari!

lulu died of hypothermia in the forest. a hazing ritual from the sorority she was joining made her jump into the freezing lake and while walking back, she collapsed. the group dug her a shallow grave and ran off. zalgo 'reanimated' her at the cost of her eyes , but lulu is REALLY weak, lethargic, and still thinks shes going back to her dorm

ann used to be a redroom 'dominatrix nurse' who tortured victims for money. one of her 'fans' found her location, dragged her to the abandoned hospital, and dismembered her on camera. during a patrol, kate stumbled on the scene and killed the man. meanwhile, zalgo infected anns corpse - this time, taking only one eye and fucking with the other. but anns also useless because she thinks shes always on camera and the hospital is a labyrinth for her.

while jack was being sacrificed to the cult, they were using slendy's goop on him in the forest. so when he lost his eyes, was force fed meat, and losing consciousness cuz he couldnt breath, zalgo tried to infect him early. since he was still alive during it, it messed up the whole infection process + the slendy goop in his eyes made it painful for zalgo. jack is TECHNICALLY a zalgoid, but zalgo has no control over him + he had no eyes to take...

dina became a zalgoid when lazari bit her. they grew up in the same cult, dina was the center of it - and while sneaking out, lazari was sick and attacked her. dina then dragged lazari to the forest to kill her (as the 'divine judge angels' she believed she had the right to kill anyone she judged unworthy). but... lazari tore out dinas throat..... so when zalgo infected dina's body, she quickly became a strong zalgoid! she's actually useful, actually wants to kill the proxies, actually wants to escape - but most of her hate is directed towards lazari, and zalgo wants lazari alive

and of course, lazari is a zalgoid. when her mother was in the cult, she was infertile - which basically made her a cult failure. she was deemed a useless woman for not bringing children into the world. so she prayed to anything - including demonic forces - and zalgo preyed on her when she did a ritual in the forest. so lazari is born!

the zalgoid strengths go: lulu -> ann -> dina -> jack -> lazari

but lazari is the easiest to appeal to, and the proxies + jack already did, so she's mostly harmless! good ally to have (when not hungry)

So, @thegentleprofound, this is entirely your fault lmfao. I love you for this.

What the fuck can I even say about How To Be A Human Being by Glass Animals. Like... how do you even describe this album haha. So if you go back a few posts you'll see a kind of play by play, but wow is this entire album a journey. Like, when I listen to an album properly it's always without shuffle, going from 1 to whatever, right? But this one especially you have to listen to it that way the first (I'd say few) times to get the full proper experience.

Cause this album has a story it tells and themes like wtf lmfao.

So it starts with the first 3 songs all having a very similar vibe/theme with them. And it's the super vibey kinda groovy thing but the lyrics are a bit wild. Like, just sit and listen to em with the lyric section pulled up or smth cause they're a thing.

Then it has a massive tone shift in the 4th song (Pork Soda) where it's still super groovy, but it becomes chiller? Like, the first section is imo definitely like a more active.... not necessarily dance-y but kinda dancy groovy thing? But then this next section here is just a lot more laid back and kinda chill type of groovy. Idk, maybe I'm on something with that but that's the best I got haha.

What do I even say about [Premade Sandwiches] other than it makes me think I'm listening to Purple Hat by Sofi Tukker with how it goes, and honestly I like it lmfao

And finally it goes into the final section which opens with that same kinda chill/vibe with The Other Side of Paradise but it's more moody I guess?

If I were to give my favorites of the album.... honestly I'd have to go with Pork Soda, Agnes, The Other Side of Paradise, Take A Slice, and then Poplar St. Yes, it is very hard for me to choose favorites lmfao.

Now, @thegentleprofound, I have an album for you that is not connected in vibes to this one at all but might be an experience for you as well. I raise you, Starcatcher by Greta Van Fleet. I suggest listening to it in order, cause it's just fun that way, but also I will say this to try and convince you to listen to it: Imagine the group going to one of those massive aircraft hangars, the like 500-foot-long ones lol. Put the vocalist, at one side, about 5ft away from a mic. Then, set another mike at the exact opposite end (length wide) of the hangar. That's the vocal quality of the entire album in terms of reverb/echo/glorious wonderful music lmfao.

windbreaker is a manga by nii satoru and as of 2024 has been adapted into an anime! season 2 (KEEL arc) is coming in spring 2025 :D

i'm going to split this into sections okay here we go this is prob gonna be a long post

THE - MAIN/RECURRING - CHARACTERS (not in order of importance - more in order of appearance) (written last name then first name)

sakura haruka (the mc): sakura has two toned hair and heterochromatic eyes and has been shunned before he moved to makochi (town the series is set in) so he has a negative outlook on a lot of stuff and doesn't normally expect to be treater well by people so he is quick to anger. he also gets flustered very quick when someone is nice to him because he isn't very used to it. he didn't have friends / anyone basically before he moved to makochi and started at furin high school

tachibana kotoha: the first person sakura meets when he moves to makochi and he also saves her from these weirdo guys. nothing romantic has been implied between them btw, she just seems like a very good friend to him.

nirei akihiko (his fit changes literally in the same chap he's introduced and then stays like that lmao): the first friend sakura makes from furin even though sakura is hesitant about it initially. he's not very good at fighting but he's very smart and has a great memory. he's got a good heart. he carries a notebook with notes about lots of the people who go to furin so knows a lot about various people. i'd say he's 1/3 of the main trio alongside sakura and one other guy called suo.

suo hayato: genuinely i think one of the most mysterious characters in the show???? we know next to nothing about him. he's a very good fighter and has mentioned he has a master who taught him but that's about it. he's very chill and makes a lot of jokes but he doesn't look it. he's can be scary when he wants to though, i think he's the cold anger type of guy. he makes up the last bit of the main trio. also no we don't know why he wears an eyepatch

sugishita kyotaro: borderline worships / greatly admires umemiya (the number one guy at furin). he's a great fighter too but he's always angry and we don't know too much about him either. he's got some sort of rivalry with sakura i think but it isn't the main focus or anything, it's like a background thing sorta

umemiya hajime: the guy at the top. he's the number one at furin and the leader. he's very much gives big brother vibes and he's a very sweet guy and he just loves to garden lmao. he worked hard to get furin to where it's at today. he's also a third year. he has a whole arc dedicated to his backstory (wild bc we don't even know much about sakura's backstory). (i put two pics bc the second one is when u properly meet him, the first one he's just talking through the intercom at the school)

hiragi toma: one of the four kings of furin (the 4 third year leaders directly under umemiya). he has stomach issues so he's constantly popping pills lmao but he's a very good fighter. he is also often stressed because of umemiya.

togame jo: second in command of shishitoren (another gang / group). he talks quite slowly but he's a very good fighter and i really like him and his growth as a character throughout the series. he calls sakura "othello-kun" lol

tomiyama choji: the leader of shishitoren. he's very childish but he's a very good fighter. he kind of goes through it during the shishitoren arc but we learn a lot about his motivations and his (and togame's and shishitoren's) backstory during thar arc. he has a lowkey obsession with umemiya to start with, all he wants to do is fight him.

sako kota: there's a history between him and hiragi that gets touched upon during the shishitoren arc and throughout the next few arcs - like it keeps going until like 161/162 i believe, so we learn more and more about them even now. he's a very good fighter, i believe he was called one of the top 5 at shishitoren.

tsugeura taiga: one of the main 5 first years i think? along with obv nirei, suo, sakura and one other guy called kiryu. he's all about muscles and i think he might have an accent? i'm not too sure but he sounds like he's got more of a drawl. he's all about asking people what their virtues are which lowkey reminds me of todo from jjk. he's a really sweet guy though and his fighting style is very wrestling coded. oh update just confirmed he speaks with a kansai dialect - it was said in the notes in one of the later chaps

kiryu mitsuki: the last of the first year's gang i suppose. he's very strong and it seems he's popular with girls but !!!! he seems stylish and is on his phone a lot - i believe he likes gacha game.

kaji ren: he's the second year tamon grade captain. he has anger issues so he always has a lollipop in his mouth. he also talks super loud because the music in his headphones is very loud. he actually reminds me of sakura a lot.

tsubakino tasuku: one of the four kings. very older sibling coded and super caring to his kouhai. it is a guy but he just likes to put makeup on and wear heels and dress the way he dresses. he also is confirmed to be canonically gay! and is in love with (an oblivious) umemiya! i love sakura and tsubaki's relationship genuinely so much

THE PLOT (kinda) & STRUCTURE!

PLOT (or part of - as much as i can give without spoiling stuff): sakura moved to makochi to go to a high school called furin because it's supposed to be delinquent central with everyone fighting etc and he wanted the top spot in the school. but upon coming here, he finds out that furin actually protects the town and are their guardians essentially from other gangs and turf wars etc and he learns how to get along with people and makes friends because he's never really has friends before or grown close to anyone. it's a story about his growth and how he changes after meeting people and learns to be cared for kind of and that people can be nice, he protects the town and UGH so much more about building bonds with people :')

i actually see a lot of people compare this to tokyo revengers and i personally don't see the similarities? i watched tokyo rev recently and the only thing i could potentially see to be similar are that there's fights and gang / turf wars but that's more prominent in tokyo rev. i guess you could say there are close knit relationships in both too but i don't really know

i just love this series for all the heartfelt moments and genuine growth you see from sakura specifically. also, whether you choose to interpret the relationships you see as platonic or romantic, they're written so well and i feel like they're so meaningful like they have DEPTH, they're not just surface level friendships or whatever. these people genuinely care about each other so much and it's so nice to see it because i feel like with these types of mangas you don't typically get to see the relationships / bonds between characters given this much care / attention during writing. i love it :')

lg wins all three rounds of rps, he looks so happy lol, he lost all rounds recently so this must feel great. also he slaps cxs very gently, but cxs still acted like it hurt

during rps song cxs has a very special prop... i knew that was around somewhere but i havent seen it used so thank you jxk. the rest of the cast all falling over lmao.

lg jukes(is that the correct word?) cxs during the handshake, this happens often. i think it happened on all 3 days here why is he so suprised.

then during the bow, im not sure what theyre doing like arm wrestling in air? lg calls him childish before the next song begins. during which jxk makes ghx cup his mic, this happened before but this time there is no excuse. they cup mics while singing so it sounds better ig, but not everyone does it. or maybe they do i havent been watching chronologically until now. also i like that theyre making group effort during introductions at the end usually its lg actor introducing everyone and well, i get it forgetting names.

jsk jukes the highfive at the start, but offers his hand a bit later, ghx rightfully slaps it away. i like when the trio holds hands as they roll out for the end of that song. also they fucked the heart up, or so it seems but ghx was looking and did that on purpose, why, that i cant say.

during sofa song cxs retaliates by pinching lg back, im glad, they always bully him in that bit, cxs actors should fight back more often. cxs has to drag lg to sing with ql, and ql pushes cxs and he falls of the table. very animated fall i was rooting for him.

lg does not win one round of rps, and goes to sulk, while cxs happily dances. this time it is lg who jukes cxs during the clap.

idk what theyre doing during the bow, but i hear pain noises and audiance laughing. when the lights turn on they arent in their spots, lg maybe accidentally jumpscares cxs, i really cannot figure out what was happening.

ql does a heart with her hands when they stomp on the table. again weird activites during the bow. when lights turn on lg is massaging cxs, and cxs says something but i sadly cant understand. one day. lg walks away and cxs sticks his pinky finger out, other actors seem confused, me too, lg laughs though.

The human brain constantly produces impulses of neural energy, kind of like a mini power plant or inner engine. People differ in the intensity of these impulses. Some have a high "voltage", others - "low". And this generated neural energy (excitation) needs to be spent on some type of activities. This energy can reflect in how "jumpy" or visibly energetic a person is, but not nesessary.

Both Mark and Doyoung have strong power plants within them. However, the way this energy is processed and spent varies significantly. Mark spends his a lot in a direct way - through work (long hours, big load), physical activity (the way his dance is super energised), loud voice and laugh, creativity (contemplating and writing, brainwork). I guess Christianity and faith help him to streamline his path as well, there are deep grooves to run along without unnesessary worry. He wants k-pop to be known around the world, the horizon is wide and there are many more mountains ahead, so he has no problem how to channel his energy. He juggles three teams, heh.

Doyoung is not a physical type, spending neural energy through pure physical activity (running, dancing) doesn't work for him. It tires him and the cells in the brain and muscles, eats up sugars, of course, but doesn't let him dispell the neural charge.

The energy still sips through the body in physical manifestations: a bouncing leg, walking on heels, cracking of knuckles, chirps, jumps, poking of others. However, it's not an outlet, just the energy leaking through cracks. Doyoung can't sit still and can't tolerate boredome. He needs to make himself busy and active.

I actually started to write this post because of this 2Dongs moment. An example of a very happy Doyoung unleashing his positive energy on a person nearby. Literally rubbing off the excessive charge, lol.

These last couple of shows gave us a new Doyoung - a Doyoung free of worries in his pure excited and content form. His solo career progresses well and he is working on his second album, WayV and Wish are doing well (NCT as a brand), 127 as well (the motivation of the members) despite the absence of Jae and Tae. Evidently currently there is a good dialogue with SM (A&R team, a good director for the concert, Mark and Hyuk getting their solos, (I assume) an appropriate budget for 127, etc). Also, Jaehyun should be settling well and also not complaining.

In the past Do demonstrated his energy through sassiness and wit (self-protection, he was establishing his position in the group, fought in the hierarchy games), worry and irritation (127 had troubles and didn't progress in popularity as quickly as Do hoped, a constant burden to succeed with every comeback, a chance to change the tide that had to be seized), nagging and micromanaging (the desire to move things, to get to the destination), even a burn-out and tears (when the body couldn't take the high voltage that wasn't spent properly, and a dam had to be broken for a forced release).

Doyoung spends his energy through reshaping the environment, influencing it somehow, making it better for people around him. He is the most grounded when he controls or affects in other way (singing, empathically) a large crowd. Not for the power, for the feeling of others being taken care of/doing well. Then his brain energy is properly channeled, the outflow is big (and there is none to remain and damage him from within). He is social and society oriented, his drive is to interact not with the natural world (nature, animals) or inner world (art, knowledge/science), but the society, other people.

When he talked of being bored being a child, his way out was to join clubs (like an art club), become a class president and run for the school student body. He cooked and invited friends to his house. He was hurt by being ostracised a lot and found salvation in singing (not a musical instrument or computer games, animals). Already then he demontrated how it was most natural for him to apply his energy.

When Do doesn't have things to worry about and people to micromanage (who do everything the right way without the need for him to intervene), his energy naturally emanates in a positive way: goofiness/playfulness, wide smiles and giggles (in the end), lightness, being hyper and extra, and boldness.

This moment (when Do asked the crowd of this size to repeat "2 Baddies" after him) especially demonstrated well the "expansion" (of his kekkai, lol) he does when he is in a right place mentally and occupationally.

It's important that Do told in public during his award speech that he worked hard. He is a perfectionist, he can easily find fault in anything, he is very demanding of himself, it's the first place or you are a loser mentality. So the fact that he is truly proud of himself and content of his own achievements (enough to praise and thank himself) is a sign of him being in a good mental shape and generally satisfied with how everything is going, with his life.

[🖇️] author's note: did i mention previously that i don't know how to portray Ganji in headcanons? Well yes... did i give that idea up and started working on something else but stopped in the middle because i got a stupid idea? Well yes! I'm glad to present all of you a silly Ganji drabble in those testing times!

-As a cricket player, your boyfriend quite often had to leave your shared cottage. Of course, sometimes he'd let you tag along, but it was not always possible. Days like this were filled with loneliness, and as much as you appreciated Ganji's passion and hard work you did experience the terrible moments of emptiness.

-Ganji, as much as he'd prefer to stay together, knows it wouldn't be responsible. The bills are no joke. There is always an emotional aura around when he's coming home — when you receive a letter confirming his homecoming you feel literally head over heels. Then, once Ganji arrives he is welcomed with a cozy dinner and a long cuddle session.

-You manage to notice that your boyfriend, who sometimes may be hard for you to read is in fact acting a little strange, yet you assume that maybe the homesickness was still kicking in, so you decided to not confront him.

-Ganji NEVER allows you to help him in unpacking, stating that you've already done enough by keeping the house clean. When this time you hear no protests from his side you know something is up, you just can't wrap your head around what exactly. You're told to grab some luggage and bring it to your shared room. You decide to obey him to not raise any suspicion. After he's made sure you're busy upstairs, he begins his secret plan. Ganji sneaks out of the cottage. He approaches a small shed standing next to it, and takes your surprise to meet you.

-Meanwhile, you are still upstairs, folding your boyfriend's clothes and putting them into your joint wardrobe, feeling grumpy, yet grateful he is finally back. Suddenly, you hear him calling you. Assuming he just needs your assistance, you unassumingly get up and go downstairs. What you see however is nothing you expected it to be...!

-Standing next to you, you look at Ganji gently smiling. Then, your attention turns to his chest. Inside his partially unzipped shirt you notice a small fluff ball being carried in it, your lover's hand gently petting it. Unsure what to do, you cover your mouth with your hands and try to process what did just happen. The batter explains that he's aware of the gap, the hole he leaves inside you when he has to leave you for business for some time. It truly makes his heart break, therefore he decided it may be a good idea to give you a small companion.

-You quickly run over to Ganji, giving him a kiss on the lips, he then holds the small cat in his palms and gives it to you. A small group hug is formed. Of course, knowing it's a small animal, you took the batter's gift very seriously. You asked several key questions, including if there are furniture and food prepared for it. His heart melted after hearing you saying that it's like if you two had a baby to raise. Ganji knew that now when he leaves you will feel at least a little less lonely now. He also admired your dedication to help him raise the small one.

-Sooner or later, this moment was impossible to avoid, in no time, Ganji was once again called to come back. You spent your final night together cuddling in bed, his arm around you. You have placed the cat between both of you. Out of the three, you fell asleep first. It always amazed you how Ganji could sleep for so few hours and still be able to function properly. He silently watches your sleeping form while smiling to himself, petting both of his now two little ones.

-After Ganji left for good, he kept thinking about you for the next few days. Are you doing alright? Is the cat causing any trouble? Before bringing it to you, he hasn't noticed any nasty behaviour coming from the small creature, but what he DID notice is that this time you've let him go rather easily. Whenever it was time for your boyfriend to get back to work, you would always become very clingy, sometimes even shedding a tear here and there. But this time? You seemed weirdly calm. He later came to a conclusion that his small fluff ball of joy is probably the reason for the sudden change in your mood. Good, he thought, you are now more or less distracted while he is away.

-Another thing he wasn't aware of is that now that while he's gone, the cat is literally wrapping you around it's fingers... i mean claws. At one point or another, you unawarely become a maid at your own house. You constantly spend your time with your cat. It's got new toys, new food, new places to play in.

-As time passes, Ganji once again comes back and is welcomed by you enthusiastically as always. He sees his "child" has now grown and is being well taken care of by his lover. He doesn't mind at all that there is now more cat accessories around the house, it's just proof that it's being treated properly.

-After a homecoming dinner, Ganji decides he needs some fresh air and alone time. He however starts to sense a stinky smell. While trying to find it's source, he stumbled upon his shoes. He decided to give the search up and go outside, but then, the moment of realization hits. Someone has SHAT inside HIS shoes! and he doesn't need further investigation to know who is behind this. The only question in his mind is why? After spending so much time with their lover home alone, he assumed you instructed it on how to properly use the litter box, right? And the answer is that you in fact did. Though for mysterious reasons, the cat decided to give his second owner a proper welcome.

-See, small guy noticed that after Ganji returned, you paid more attention to him instead. Obviously, kitty doesn't like that and has to show this man where his place is. Ganji just found himself a mortal enemy - at one point, those nasty surprises became a cycle. Each time he came back, a trick would be played on him and yet you didn't seem to be offended by the vandal's actions. The cat keeps attacking his leg, bites him, steals his food from the plate, hides his socks in his small bed. What's going on? When he arrives home after a long time, the not-so-innocent-and-not-anymore baby tries to get your attention all the time, acting like it's in pain, all to make you less and less interested in Ganji's long awaited homecoming.

-While being petted by you, it mischievously stares at your love, and he isn't scared to stare back. They watch each other with pure hatred and jealousy. It can last minutes. They are barely blinking... it's like a forever fight who is going to win your attention. Ganji brought a monster into his house.

-"I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE..."

-You literally can't cuddle either of them alone. Whenever the other sees you hugging, he has to step in, much to the other's discomfort. Ganji's last straw though was when he found his bat scratched with claws and bite marks. He is rarely angry when he arrives home, but this one time he was extremely grumpy. Do you guys know that feeling when your pet randomly decides to jump on you with all their force? Ganji is a constant victim of that.

-Finally, your boyfriend draws the line. He is tired of being harassed in his own house, by his own child. You wouldn't even be surprised if he told it to find a cat job and help pay the bills. He decides to have a serious chat with you the next morning.

-While he was sleeping, Ganji has had a serious nightmare. He always talked with you about that one dream, the one with the burning building. You know it was very traumatic for him so you always comforted him. But not this time. You were so tired you didn't even wake up, and meanwhile Ganji was shaking and panting, all sweaty. He wishes he wouldn't have to wake you up, but it seems like there is no other choice. Then, suddenly he feels paws touching his bare chest. It's that demon, he thought to himself, expecting the worst to happen, for a goofy cat to make him feel even more down than before. To his surprise, the cat sits on his stomach and begins to, how you like to call it, make biscuits. Ganji quickly feels better, grateful to the little cat he got so jealous of before. Your baby fell asleep together with your lover holding it in his hands. When you woke up to that sight, you felt very moved by the act.

-Some time later, each of them began respecting each other a bit more, "maybe it isn't that bad after all, huh?" Said Ganji. What he didn't know, is that at the same time, his small troublemarker was chewing on his favourite sportswear.

-Let's say, you had to get both of them to your bed and cuddle with each other to calm down the situation...

In retrospect, it’s amazing how I like pretty much everything in the MLP movie EXCEPT the actual story lol.

Art Direction and Animation✅

Great! Love the attempt at a more cinematic scale, the 3D assets are implemented pretty well for the most part, and the characters themselves are all fluid and expressive (the shiny eye models take a second to adjust to, but you get used to them quickly)

New Additions to the Setting✅

Honestly, as far as world-building goes, there’s a lot of good material here! All the new locations feel visually distinct and have a lot of personality. The characters they introduce alongside them are likeable and fun, drawing you into the new environment while also leaving room to explore them further in the future. Kind of sucks that the Hippogriffs were the only ones who got any real follow-up after this, but hey, whatcha gonna do?

Villains ✅

I feel like we should all know at this point how utterly ICONIC Tempest Shadow is, but honestly the other antagonists aren’t too bad either.

Capper is great as the smooth-talking con-artist trope, and you can tell that Taye Diggs was having a lot of fun voicing him (his turn to good happens way too quickly, but whatever).

Storm King isn’t there to do much but stand around and be menacing until the final battle, so I appreciate that they took more of a comedic approach with him. Helps balance out with Tempest more and makes his scenes feel less like a waste of time.

Grubber is one of the most Josh Gad-coded “we need a funny/cute comedic relief sidekick for the kiddies” characters in existence, but he’s not in it long enough to be annoying, so I’ll let it slide.

Songs ✅

Admittedly, the soundtrack as a whole isn’t their best work, but “Open Up Your Eyes” is STILL one of the best songs in all of G4, and a top-tier villain song in general.

I also think “I’m the Friend You Need” is underrated and deserves more love (Taye Diggs brought SO much charisma to this role and we need to acknowledge it).

Story ❌

A glorified fetch quest meant to take characters from Point A to Point B. No greater themes or interesting ideas explored, other than the bog standard “friendship is magic!”. The characters themselves get good individual moments here and there, but the shift to a larger, group narrative means we don’t get time to explore their dynamics. The new characters are likeable, but outside of Tempest, we don’t get the time to really know them or develop them properly. And pretty much none of them end up making an appearance in the show afterwards, so they’re just kind of…there.

Oh, and to top it all off, we get another classic case of “framing Twilight as being needlessly angry and out-of-line when she’s the only one taking her job seriously”. I’m just saying, if you want Pinkie to be at her Pinkiest, don’t put her in the middle of a “end-of-the-world” narrative.

Really does a good job at demonstrating how the show is at its best when dealing with simple, slice-of-life storytelling, and how it can’t really handle much outside of that.

Honestly, if you were gonna do a big budget, theatrical version of G4, you’re better off sticking with a more laid back, “Winnie The Pooh” anthology style of storytelling than attempting some grander melodrama that you can’t follow through on.

But I digress.

6/10. Worth at least one watch (and maybe a rewatch of certain scenes later).

Eh, I wouldn't be as generous to the movie, but you def raise some good points, especially regarding the visuals, its a natural, interesting progression of how the show looks, even though I'm weirded out by the eye shines and sizes.

Hiii just found out through scrolling, that you are a teacher of little people’s and as someone who might be a teacher of the littles in the next year or two but has ZERO baby or small child experience I was wondering if you had any advice 🥲

i have so much to say about this, so i’ll make a whole list and whatnot below the cut !!

my advice for children/babies specifically differs for whatever age you’re looking to teach!

i’ve worked with kids aged 4 months to 12 years, with and without special needs individually and as a group. my most universal piece of advice is to just to let them talk to you, even if you have no idea what they’re talking about, or they’ve already told you seven hundred times. (my one little best friends told me six times she was going to be snow white for halloween. she was not snow white for halloween). from preschool age to my oldest kids, this has not failed with most kids. it’s caused problems with toxic coworkers because kids who knew them for years liked me better. (if this is ur situation, literally leave. this environment had me in shambles for two months until i quit). they’ll trust you so much when they know you’ll actually listen to them. for infants, it goes the opposite way. talk to them. tell them what you’re doing, what they’re doing, i love bringing them to the window and telling them about the sky and the weather. one of my tiny besties really gets the routine now and will run (or… trip over herself) to the window and attempt to say outside, so then we chat about outside before she decides she’s skeptical of me again. she is my biggest frenemy. i’ve been in the infant room with her for about three/four weeks, and this is the first week where she will say hi to me and i think that’s just because i say hi to her every day even when she just blankly stares at me idk. yeah just be a yapper and an encourager of yapping

another thing! when i was working as an inclusion counselor at a summer camp, i’d bring a bluey backpack with me filled with coloring books and crayons and play dough and bubbles and fidgets — anything that would benefit their age range basically. and in the mornings they played with playdough and on the bus during field trips they passed out fidgets. keeping them busy and making sure they’re being properly stimulated is such a game changer for behavior management omg i cannot stress this enough. it doesn’t work in every setting obviously, but if you can find something small to do with them it’s a 10/10. they think you’re fun, they’re ‘playing’ but really they’re just actually sitting still while your bosses stare at you, and when it coulda 9/10’s out of them they’ll listen.

omg hallway games tie into this! and i guess just being silly in general. when i was a counselor i would play red light green light in the hallway during our ‘passing periods’. my kids were 5-6 so they were the perfect age, i would never attempt this with my preschoolers. i’d walk backwards ahead of them, which they thought was cool enough, and i’d just yell red light green light yellow light when i needed them to stop so there wasn’t a traffic jam. it’s fun for them and efficient for you lol. also !! if you’re taking a couple of them to the bathroom or you happen to be in the hallway alone, they looveee walking like an animal. penguins and kangaroos and eagles and snakes.

also if you don’t know what to do in a room, just ask your co-teacher! they looove to give you little tasks and eventually you learn the routine!
